Fire in Manilva El incendio, que comenzó alrededor de las 01.40 h de la madrugada, en la zona del Goleto, pronto se extendió gracias a los fuertes vientos y amenazó las urbanizaciones de Los Hidalgos y Princesa Kristina, lo que llevó a la evacuación de unos 400 residentes y turistas. 50 bomberos de las estaciones en Manilva, Estepona, Algatocín y Coín lucharon con las llamas durante toda la noche, obstaculizados por la falta de soporte aéreo que no puede operar por la noche. El Ayuntamiento abrió el centro deportivo en Sabinillas para albergar a los evacuados, y varias personas y bares locales ofrecieron refugio y refrescos. Por un tiempo, el A7 principal se cerró al tráfico, lo que generó problemas para quienes viajan diariamente al trabajo. Los bomberos llegaron a controlar el fuego alrededor de las 7 de la mañana y, con la luz del día, aparecieron dos helicópteros para darle al fuego el golpe mortal final. The fire, which started at around 1.40 am, in the Goleto area soon spread thanks to very high winds and threatened the urbanisations at Los Hidalgos and Princesa Kristina leading to the evacuation of some 400 residents and tourists. 50 firefighters from stations in Manilva, Estepona, Algatocin, and Coin battled with the flames throughout the night, hampered by the lack of air support which cannot operate at night. The local council opened up the sports centre in Sabinillas to provide shelter for evacuees, and a number of local individuals and bars offered shelter and refreshments. At one point the main A7 was closed leading to problems for those making the commute to work. Firefighters had the fire under control by around 7 am and with daylight two helicopters turned up to give the fire the final death blow. Fire investigators are working to ascertain the cause of the fire, but it is believed that it may have been set deliberately as a distraction for a major drug smuggling operation. Once again praise must go to all the emergency services including the Infoca firefighters, the fire services, the local police, Guardia Civil and the volunteers from the Civil Protection force, whose hard work ensure there were no injuries despite the serious nature of the blaze.

Estoy escribiendo este editorial solo una semana después del gran incendio que devastó el área del Goleto en Manilva y dañó las urbanizaciones adyacentes y llevando a la evacuación temporal de unos 400 residentes y turistas. El incendio ya de por sí fue terrible, pero saber que los investigadores creen que fue deliberadamente diseñado para servir de distracción para que los corredores de drogas pudieran montar una operación es realmente impactante, y es una suerte que, gracias a la habilidad y la valentía de los servicios de emergencia, nadie fue herido. I am writing this editorial just one week after the huge fire that devastated the Goleto area of Manilva damaging adjacent urbanisations and leading to the temporary evacuation of some 400 residents and tourists. The fire was bad enough, but to learn that investigators believe it was probably deliberately set to provide a diversion for drug runners to mount an operation is truly shocking, and it is fortunate that, thanks to the skill and bravery of the emergency services, nobody was injured. The local community has expressed their appreciation and gratitude with a fundraising initiative to provide a token of their thanks to all those emergency services that keep us safe all year round, about which you can read in this issue. We have all been fortunate though in dodging the heatwave that is gripping the rest of Spain and Europe, in fact whilst the rest of the country is struggling through temperatures as high as 46 degrees, here on the Coast I think it is probably the coolest August that I can remember, not that I’m complaining. Gibraltar has detailed contingency plans for all levels of Brexit The Government of Gibraltar has, since 2016, been preparing for all possible outcomes in relation to the departure of the United Kingdom and Gibraltar from the European Union. This is a perfectly sensible thing to do in view of the ongoing UK/EU discussions and the preparations for all eventualities announced by both sides. On 19 July, the European Commission called on Member States and on private parties to step up preparations at all levels for all outcomes of Brexit. This followed a similar request by the European Council in June. The United Kingdom itself has also highlighted recently the preparations it is making for a no deal Brexit. It is clear that it is in nobodyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s interests that the UK should leave the EU without an agreement and there is a considerable amount of work going on behind the scenes in order to ensure a successful outcome. The implications for Gibraltar of different types of Brexit were analysed in the original report that was submitted to the United Kingdom in September 2016 shortly after the overall referendum decision to leave the EU. This report covered the impact of Brexit across the public sector in Gibraltar and also on the private sector as well. Government departments

and private sector organisations were consulted and contributed to the overall view that the Government presented to the United Kingdom at the time. That analysis was made against the background of the threats being made against Gibraltar by the then Spanish Foreign Minister Mr Margallo. These ranged from the possibility of closing the border completely to making shared sovereignty a precondition of any future relationship between Gibraltar and the European Union. His successor Mr Dastis lowered the temperature considerably on both fronts by saying that border passage would remain as it is or better, and by removing the sovereignty pre-condition. The new Socialist Prime Minister of Spain is on record as having said that fluidity at the border is fundamental. The operation of the land border between Gibraltar and Spain is nonetheless one of the key elements of the Governmentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s contingency planning. That planning has looked at the worst case scenario even though this is now highly unlikely. This has entailed planning for a no-deal Brexit, but also planning for an agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union from which Gibraltar was excluded. However, it will

be recalled that the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis guaranteed the Chief Minister that there would be no deal without Gibraltar. There are important differences between the Gibraltar border and the Northern Ireland border. The concern in Northern Ireland, and indeed for the UK itself, is centred on the movement of goods to and from the EU. Gibraltar is not and has never been in the EU Customs Union therefore a no deal Brexit would leave us where we are now in respect to the movement of goods. In relation to the movement of persons, the default position would be the Schengen Border Code. This is the Code in force today. The only issue in future would be the manner in which the EU and Spain would seek to operate the Code after our EU-exit. It is important to make the point that the existing framework for goods or persons would therefore not change. The Government has nonetheless taken concrete steps to ensure the continuity of supplies into and out of Gibraltar. It is not possible to be more specific at this stage. There have been detailed discussions with the Ministry of Defence and the private sector, as has happened in the United Kingdom itself,

in order to establish the resources in terms of assets, land and people that would be available in the context of a hard Brexit. An interdepartmental working group composed of eleven officials met with the MOD and with over twenty private sector entities and organisations in Gibraltar at the end of 2017 and produced a second report which identified areas of concern and put forward solutions. This led to detailed preparations in order to face any possible challenges posed by our departure from the European Union. Those preparations are now at a very advanced stage and indeed may be activated anyway whether or not there is a difficult Brexit. The Gibraltar and UK Governments

met here last week in a meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia, who is the Minister with responsibility for Brexit. That meeting took place in order to review the areas of contingency planning in each country so that all sides are aware of the plans and preparations that are under discussion. There will be regular meetings going forward at official level. "The Government does not envisage any need to stock pile food, as has been suggested in the United Kingdom. Precautions will be taken in respect of medicines sourced from UK to ensure there are no glitches in supply or unnecessary costs arising from emergency airfreighting, if these can be avoided," said Dr Garcia.

The increase in jellyfish in recent years on the beaches of the province of Malaga is a concern for both bathers and employers in the tourism sector. This initiative began to take shape in June 2013 and since then has provided information and prevention, including an application for mobile devices, InfoMedusa, which warns users of the presence of these pests, their numbers, variety and potential danger, to avoid annoying stings. Casares presents the Blas Infante Awards for international cooperation and educational development

oinciding with the anniversary of the birth of Blas Infante, on July 5, 1885, the people of Casares presented the Blas Infantes Awards. An emotional gala in which it highlighted the great work done by a number of associations and NGOs, with awards totalling 50,000 euros, along with presentations by last year’s winners. Councillor Guzmán Ahumada, was in charge of opening the event with some words of remembrance to Blas Infante and the uniqueness of Andalucia. Ahumada thanked the members of nongovernmental organizations in their work for a better world without which Casares's help would not make sense. On the other hand, the Councilor for Cooperation, Rocio Ruiz, offered a moving speech in which she talked about people migrations and the feminist struggle. The council recognised the work of Paco Mena de Mira, to whom the Council of Casares has granted a Special Mention for the work he has been doing for years in the fight against drugs and drug trafficking through the Coordinadora Alternativas and la Fundación Márgenes y Vínculos. The honoree who has attended every edition of these awards, thanked the efforts of the Town Council of Casares with these grants. And he reaffirmed his commitment to fight against drug trafficking that is currently afflicting the Campo de Gibraltar. The Casares Awards for Andalucia and Casares for Spain were endowed with 5,000 euros each. The first went to the project "Youth Mentoring" of the Ariadna Association so as to consolidate a team of volunteers formed by university students to intervene biweekly in the hours of tutoring directly with students from schools in deprived areas of Seville. While the Casares for Spain rewarded a project "Make the Difference: Act" of the Más Vida de Zaragoza Foundation to uncover and combat sexual violence in childhood.

40,000 euros for international cooperation Most of these subsidies, 40,000 euros,

were allocated to international cooperation, and was shared amongst 24 of the 30 organizations who submitted projectsl. The Casares for Humanity Awards, endowed with 20,000 euros, will go towards improving health and health education of the population in South Sudan, carried out by the Africa Direct Foundation of Madrid. A programme assisting the population of Rumbek, estimated at more than 20,000 people, where the sisters of Loreto are the only people for many kilometres around who are attending to the population with medical diagnoses and administration of quality medicines, in addition to education in hygiene and health to women and children. Likewise, four Blas Infante grants were awarded for four other education development projects: One awarded 7,000 euros to Solidaridad 2012, to support the water supply project, with the excavation of four wells in a shelter for people suffering social exclusion, in Debre Libanos, Ethiopia. The second subsidy went to the Sansana School Association with 6,000 euros for sanitation in the rural school of Burkina Faso with the construction of eight latrines in the villages of Koul Pon Gane and Holly. A project that is part of the "Early Childhood and Primary Education and Promotion of Women in the Province of Poni" project, which began in 2010 in the area. The third grant of 5,000 euros has been awarded to the Association of International Solidarity Cooperation Sierra de Las Nieves for Healthcare with the acquisition of an electric generator that allows the operation of the operating room of the Hospital de Cristo Rey, with many operating problems because of the precarious electrical supply system. And the Kirira Foundation has been subsidized with 2,000 euros, from the 4th grant, for the installation of a coal kitchen with boiler-kettle for the primary school of Nthangani in the Tharaka region, Kenya, a project included in the campaign against Female Genital Mutilation.

Asimismo se otorgaron 4 accésits Blas Infante para otros cuatro proyectos de educación al desarrollo: Uno dotado de 7.000 euros a Solidaridad 2012, para apoyar el proyecto de dotación de suministro de agua, con la excavación de 4 pozos en un refugio de personas en situación de exclusión social, en Debre Libanos, Etiopía. El segundo accésit subvenciona a

El tercer accésit, dotado con 5.000 euros ha sido para la Asociación de Cooperación Internacional Solidaria Sierra de Las Nieves para Ayuda Sanitaria con la adquisición de un generador de energía eléctrica que permita el funcionamiento del quirófano del Hospital de Cristo Rey, con muchos problemas de funcionamiento a causa del precario sistema de suministro eléctrico. Y la Fundación Kirira ha sido subvencionada con 2.000 euros, del 4º Ácéssit, para la instalación de una cocina de carbón con boiler-hervidor para la escuela de primaria de Nthangani en la región de Tharaka, Kenia, un proyecto englobado en la campaña contra la Mutilación Genital Femenina.

Más de 4300 personas visitan los Baños de la Over 4,300 people visit the Hedionda durante el mes de julio Roman Baths in July La mayoría de los visitantes son españoles,seguidos de británicos, franceses y alemanes Desde la Concejalía de Turismo se lleva a cabo un registro de todas las personas que pasan por el punto de información que existe en los Baños de la Hedionda. De dicho control se obtiene que durante el pasado mes de julio han sido un total de 4342 las personas que han recibo información turística en este stand. No obstante desde la Concejalía de Turismo, informa su concejala Rocío Ruiz que el número de visitantes al recinto es superior al indicado, ya que no todos acuden al punto de información. El horario de la caseta de información turística es de miércoles a domingo de 12:30 h a 18:30 h. Respecto al perfil del visitante que disfruta estos días de los Baños de la Hedionda, podemos ofrecer datos de la nacionalidad, de manera que en el mes de julio han sido un total de 3063 españoles los que han acudido al recinto. Seguidos de británicos (720), franceses (264) y alemanes (212). También han acudido grupos de ciudadanos belgas (23), argentinos (18), y en menos medida de otras nacionalidades como italianos, colombianos, rusos, brasileños o marroquíes. El número de visitas es menor al de julio del pasado año, lo que se atribuye a las medidas llevadas a cabo por el consistorio en aras de una mayor protección y cuidado del entorno. Con el control del acceso se pretende evitar la masificación, y compatibilizar el uso y disfrute por parte de los visitantes con el cuidado necesario que precisa un entorno

histórico y natural de esta características. Para evitar la masificación, el Ayuntamiento de Casares ha puesto en marcha este verano una serie de medidas entre las que destaca la limitación del aforo en el recinto a 24 personas, por lo que es obligatorio realizar una reserva para acceder al mismo en horas puntas, establecidas de 12.00 a 19.00 horas desde el 2 de julio al 9 de septiembre. Estas reservas de entradas, que son completamente gratuitas y por un periodo de una hora, se pueden realizar a través de un teléfono móvil o cualquier terminal digital en la aplicación de ticketea h t t p s : / / w w w. t i c ke t e a . c o m / entradas-actividades-banosla-hedionda/), o directamente en la Oficina de Turismo de la Casa Natal de Blas Infante (Tfno.

Además, el acceso a la zona está controlado por seguridad privada, que se encarga de vigilar la entrada de vehículos, para lo que hay una barrera en la zona de aparcamientos que mantiene el Consistorio frente al restaurante El Álamo. Y también de vigilar el recinto de los baños y el acceso a la cúpula por parte de los usuarios. Desde las Concejalías de Turismo y Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Casares se insiste en la necesidad de proteger estos baños del alto valor histórico, y se vuelve a hacer una llamada al civismo, ya que siguen apareciendo unas cantidades significativas de basura depositadas por los usuarios en las zonas protegidas.

Casares da la bienvenida a los niños saharauis que pasan el verano en el municipio El Ayuntamiento de Casares ha querido dar la bienvenida a los nueve niños saharauis que este verano están disfrutando en el municipio de unas Vacaciones en Paz, lejos del inhóspito desierto de Argelia en el que llevan más de 40 años viviendo como refugiados. El acto, que sirvió como punto de encuentro para las familias de acogida, contó con la presencia del alcalde de Casares Pepe Carrasco, y la concejala de cooperación, Rocío Ruiz, además de algunos miembros de la Asociación de Amigos del Pueblo Saharaui, Karama. El alcalde fue el encargado de dar la bienvenida a los pequeños, agradeciendo además a las familias casareñas la solidaridad que muestran acogiendo a estos

The Casares Tourism Department has published the figures for visitors to the Baños de Hedionda Roman baths during the month of July based on enquiries at the tourist information point situated there which numbered some 4,342. However, the department pointed out that the actual figure was much higher than this as not everyone visits the information kiosk, which is open from 12.30 pm until 6.30 pm. Of those visitors 3063 were Spaniards, followed by 720 British, 264 French and 212 Germans. Belgian citizens numbered 23, Argentinians 18 along with a handful of Italians, Colombians, Russians, Brazilians and Moroccans. The number of visits is less than that of July of last year, which is attributed to the measures carried out by the town hall in the interests of greater protection and care of the environment. With the control of access which was introduced to reduce overcrowding and make it an enjoyable experience, and reduce damage to the historic structure and to the environment. These measures include a ticketing system limiting to 24 an hour the

Casares welcomes Sahrawi children who spend the summer in the municipality The Town Council of Casares has extended a welcome to the nine Sahrawi children who are enjoying a ‘Holiday in Peace’ this summer, away from the inhospitable desert of Algeria where they have been living as refugees for more than 40 years. The Sahrawi are the people of the Western Sahara, that have been in conflict with Morocco for years. The event, which served as a meeting point for the host families, was attended by the Mayor of Casares Pepe Carrasco, and the Councilor for Cooperation, Rocío Ruiz, as well as

Realizados todos los pasos necesarios para poder licitar las Obras de Finalización de Urbanización del Polígono Industrial Sierra Bermeja de Casares El Ayuntamiento ya ha finalizado todos los pasos previos y necesarios para poder proceder a la licitación de los trabajos, cumpliendo así la hoja de ruta marcada por la Concejalía de Infraestructura del Ayuntamiento de Casares durante la reunión mantenida el pasado mes de febrero con más de 50 propietarios de parcelas. El concejal del área, Guzmán Ahumada, ha explicado que se ha enviado una carta a todos los propietarios, informando sobre los últimos pasos dados, así como los requisitos necesarios para poder solicitar las licencias de obras de las parcelas. La intención del equipo de gobierno de Casares es que esa zona industrial sea una realidad lo antes posible. Por lo que paralelamente a la ejecución de los trabajos, los propietarios podrán solicitar licencias de obras que se le otorgarán, siempre y cuando estén al día de pagos de IBI y cuotas, una vez finalicen las obras de urbanización. Las obras pendientes para la puesta en marcha de la zona industrial incluyen la acometida eléctrica, la reparación de defectos y los deterioros en saneamiento interior y en acerados, puesta a punto del alumbrado público y reposición de elementos sustraídos, y por último, un servicio de vigilancia durante el transcurso de las obras.

Comienza la obra del cuarto de los 10 hoteles ‘boutique’ previstos en centro histórico de Estepona

l alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano ha asistido al acto de colocación de la primera piedra de El Pilar Andalucía Hotel Boutique; un complejo hotelero de cuatro estrellas que se construye en la céntrica plaza de Las Flores. Los trabajos de demolición de las antiguas instalaciones existentes donde se ubica este complejo hotelero comenzaron hace seis meses; el inicio de esta obra se suma a otras tres instalaciones hoteleras que en la actualidad se están construyendo en el centro histórico de la ciudad. El alcalde ha señalado que, en estos momentos, esta zona de la ciudad tiene proyectados 10 establecimientos hoteleros de tipología ‘boutique’. En este sentido, ha señalado que la renovación integral y el embellecimiento llevados a cabo en el centro de la ciudad con el proyecto Estepona Jardín de la Costa del Sol ha impulsado el sector turístico y comercial de la ciudad, favoreciendo la creación de estos hoteles y satisfaciendo la demanda ciudadana de crear instalaciones hoteleras en el centro de la ciudad.

La apertura de El Pilar Andalucía Hotel Boutique está prevista para la primavera de 2019. Este acto ha contado con la presencia de los propietarios, el matrimonio Eller y su familia. El servicio de autobús urbano se amplía con una nueva línea permanente hacia la zona oeste del municipio El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que la empresa concesionaria del servicio de transporte público, Autocares Ricardo, va a ampliar el servicio de transporte con una nueva línea que conectará el casco urbano con la zona oeste del término municipal. El servicio estará operativo desde el día 1 de agosto y estará en funcionamiento de forma permanente. La empresa tendrá en funcionamiento tres líneas de transporte público. La línea 1 transcurre por el núcleo urbano de Estepona en un recorrido circular; la línea 2 sale del Puerto y llega a la urbanización Mar y Monte en Isdabe y, por último, la línea 3, que saldrá de la estación de autobuses y llegará hasta la urbanización Bermuda Beach, en la zona de Buenas Noches. La ampliación de la cobertura de este servicio permitirá cubrir, por tanto, la demanda que existe para acceder a la zona de las urbanizaciones y hoteles de la parte oeste del municipio.

Asimismo, esta línea dará acceso a los usuarios al futuro Hospital de Estepona, una vez que éste entre en funcionamiento. El horario de esta tercera línea, de lunes a domingo (incluido festivos) será el siguiente: - Salida desde la estación de autobuses: 7:10, 11:10, 17:50 y 20:40 horas. - Salida desde Bermuda Beach: 7:35, 11:35, 18:15 y 21:05 horas. El precio de los billetes para las líneas que cubren el extrarradio

será de 1,40 euros desde Bermuda Beach al Palacio de Congresos y de 1,10 euros desde Beverly Hills hasta el Palacio de Congresos. Por su parte, los billetes de la línea circular que recorre el núcleo urbano tienen un precio de 1,10 euros y de 0,60 si se utiliza el bono. Para los jubilados que hagan uso del bono el billete costará 0,50 euros. Los autobuses están adaptados a las personas con movilidad reducida y poseen plazas sentadas y de pie.

La obra del complejo deportivo del Estadio de Atletismo y del aparcamiento para mil plazas supera el 30% de ejecución. Los trabajos de cimentación y saneamiento están concluidos. En estos momentos se está reforzando la planta superior con hormigón con los correspondientes refuerzos de estructura. Esta parte será la futura planta del estadio de atletismo que estará sobre el aparcamiento y al mismo nivel que el Parque Ferial y Deportivo. Las obras, que estarán finalizadas en los primeros meses de 2019, contemplan la construcción de una pista de atletismo con una superficie de 16.488 metros cuadrados, un aparcamiento de dos plantas un millar de plazas e instalaciones anejas de locales, con un total de 3.000 metros cuadrados de superficie, que estarán destinados a futuros usos culturales-deportivos. El futuro equipamiento deportivo quedará conectado con el Auditorio Felipe VI y con el Parque Ferial y Deportivo. El alcalde ha destacado el impacto que tendrán las nuevas instalaciones en la oferta deportiva para profesionales y aficionados, ya que

permitirán, además de la práctica de actividades de carrera, la realización de las relacionadas con el salto. Además, albergará en el interior un campo de fútbol y de fútbol 7. El área de actuación sobre el que se está desarrollando este proyecto comprende un total de 34.182 metros cuadrados, de ellos, casi 20.000 metros cuadrados serán de zonas ajardinadas. El alcalde de Estepona ha señalado que es “uno de los grandes proyectos para Estepona en este mandato, que permite una gran polivalencia de usos”. Asimismo, se ha referido a que esta nueva infraestructura contribuirá a la consolidación de esta zona norte de la ciudad como la gran área deportiva y lúdica dentro de Estepona; “la más importante y que ha logrado en los últimos años un espectacular crecimiento”, consiguiendo con esta actuación complementar la oferta de ocio y dotar de aparcamientos a los usos que se desarrollan en el entorno, tales como el Parque Ferial y Deportivo, el campo de fútbol Muñoz Pérez, el Auditorio Felipe VI, el circuito de karting y ahora el Estadio de Atletismo.

En relación al aparcamiento, se plantea un parking en dos niveles bajo el estadio de atletismo, con la misma extensión superficial que ella: un Nivel 0 (Planta Baja) con acceso directo desde la avenida principal a la misma cota, y un Nivel 1 (Planta Alta), sobre el anterior, con lo que la pista queda elevada respecto a la avenida pero a nivel del viario posterior que linda con el Parque Ferial, facilitando los accesos tanto peatonales como rodados. Se consigue, de esta forma, un aparcamiento con plazas de acceso público bajo la pista de atletismo y una zona de locales -de 3.000 metros cuadrados de superficie total- para futuros usos sociodeportivos. A esto se añaden una serie de espacios complementarios del uso deportivo ubicados en los distintos niveles para vestuarios, almacenes, dependencias para deportistas, palcos o gradas cubiertas, con capacidad para 1.800 personas. El edificio dispondrá de multitud de accesos peatonales y un doble acceso rodado a las dos plantas de aparcamiento por dos viales diferentes, lo que permitirá una flexibilidad de uso.

Hallado en Estepona el primer registro geoarqueológico del tsunami sucedido en el siglo IX en el sur de España El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha presentado, junto al doctor de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Carlos Arteaga, y los expertos de la Universidad de Cambridge, Sean Teylor y Sayontani Neogi, los restos hallados durante las obras de remodelación del centro histórico. Se trata del primer y único registro geoarqueológico existente de un tsunami sucedido en el año 881, en el sur de España. Hasta el momento, no existía ningún indicio geoarqueológico sobre este fenómeno, que sólo estaba documentado en fuentes históricas. Asimismo, se están estudiando las muestras halladas en capas inferiores que evidenciarían otro tsunami ocurrido en época romana, entre los siglos I y IV. El Ayuntamiento de Estepona colabora con este proyecto de investigación, donde los expertos desplazados a Estepona han valorado el interés de los hallazgos y han concluido que tras este trabajo de campo

se va a realizar el trabajo científico para analizar las olas e incorporar las conclusiones para el conocimiento del medio en el que vivimos y la prevención de nuevas catástrofes. Las muestras del suelo tomadas serán analizadas en el laboratorio, una vez solidificadas, para hacer un examen detallado de toda la información que puede aportar. Arteaga ha explicado que para detectar un paleotsunami hay que encontrar en el mismo sedimento restos de material de fondo marino y material continental para poder certificar que se trata de una ola de tsunami. En este caso, según la documentación histórica en la que se menciona, podría haber supuesto una pequeña catástrofe, que habría afectado a la ciudad derribando algunas edificaciones, si bien, en estas épocas las olas eran frenadas por las murallas. El alcalde ha destacado la relevancia de esta investigación, que “posiciona a Estepona en el mapa científico internacional”. Así, ha explicado que la remodelación del centro histórico de Estepona no sólo ha permitido acondicionar y embellecer sus calles sino que está sacando a la luz un amplio patrimonio histórico, de gran interés para los investigadores, permitiendo que se dignifique, preserve y estudie el pasado de Estepona. Cabe recordar que las obras de remodelación de la céntrica calle Villa permitieron descubrir una villa romana (siglos II-IV d.C) que se extendía hasta el castillo de San Luis y la calle Álvarez de la Vega; y que los trabajos de excavación previos a estas obras han permitido también descubrir la existencia de todo un barrio dedicado a la alfarería en las calles Torrejón, Sevilla y sus alrededores. Además, en la plaza de las Flores descubrió la tenería medieval mejor conservada de la península ibérica.

ESTEPONA’S TRADING CENTRE FOR QUALITY REFURBISHED ITEMS

First geoarchaeological record of 9th century tsunami discovered in Estepona The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, along with Carlos Arteaga from the University of Madrid, and experts from the University of Cambridge, Sean Taylor and Sayantani Neogi, presented the remains found during the recent remodeling works in the historical town centre. It is the first and only existing geoarchaeological record of a tsunami that struck the South of Spain in the year 88. So far, there has been no geo-archaeological evidence about this phenomenon, which was only documented in historical sources. Also, samples found in lower layers that would indicate another tsunami occurred in Roman times, between the 1st and 4th centuries are being studied. The Town Council of Estepona is collaborating with this research project, where the experts have worked in Estepona and have valued the interest of the findings and have concluded that after this field work further investigations will be carried out analyze the waves and incorporate the conclusions into the environmental data with a view to the prevention of new catastrophes. The soil samples taken will be analyzed in the laboratory to make a detailed examination of all the information that can be provided. Arteaga explained that to detect a paleotsu-

nami, it is necessary to find remains of seabed material and continental material in the same sediment in order to certify that it is a tsunami wave. In this case, according to the historical documentation in which it is mentioned, it could have been a small catastrophe, which would have impacted the town by demolishing some buildings, although, in these times the waves were stopped by the walls. The mayor highlighted the relevance of this research, which "positions Estepona on the international scientific map." Thus, he explained that the remodeling of the historic centre of Estepona has not only allowed to condition and beautify its streets but is bringing to light a broad historical heritage, of great interest to researchers, allowing the study and preservation of Estepona’s past. It should be remembered that the remodeling of Calle Villa led to the discovery of a Roman villa that extended to the castle of San Luis and Álvarez de la Vega street; and that the excavation works prior to these have also revealed the existence of a whole neighborhood dedicated to pottery in the streets of Torrejón, Seville and its surroundings. In addition, in the Plaza de las Flores discovered the best preserved medieval tannery in the Iberian Peninsula.

urante estos últimos días, muchas personas han expresado su admiración por el trabajo de los servicios de emergencia para acabar con los grandes incendios forestales que nos atormentan durante los meses de verano, lo que llegó a un punto crítico con el incendio masivo en Manilva que acabó en la evacuación de 400 residentes y turistas. Todos sin una sola lesión. Ha habido un sentimiento expresado por muchos, particularmente por residente local Bruce Lavelle en Manilva Coffee Chat, que se debería 'recompensar' de alguna manera a estos valientes individuos y, con esto en mente, nos hemos acercado a varios representantes de las diversas ramas de estos servicios para ver qué es lo mejor que podemos ofrecer para expresar nuestro más sincero agradecimiento. Hay una serie de problemas que hacen que esto sea algo complicado. En primer lugar, hay varios organismos que se combinan para hacer frente a estos incendios: los especialistas en incendios forestales del Infoca, los departamentos de bomberos de varias ciudades, Protección Civil, Policía Local, Guardia Civil, hidroaviones, helicópteros y tripulaciones de aviones ligeros, algunos de los cuales son privados, funcionarios de Medio Ambiente, Investigadores de Incendios Forenses y la lista continúa. La mayoría de ellos no están autorizados a aceptar donaciones en efectivo. Otra cuestión es que vienen de lugares tan lejanos como Granada, Sevilla y Málaga, por lo que sería casi imposible celebrar ningún tipo de comida o fiesta, pero su respuesta general fue que lo único que realmente quieren es el aprecio y la gratitud de los ciudadanos. Se realizó una reunión, organizada por el administrador de Manilva Coffee Chat y el presidente de la Sociedad Benéfica de Duquesa de Saint George, Dean Shelton y asistieron Bruce Lavelle, Gary Beaumont del periódico The Resident y Joni Burnett, residente de Princesa Kristina y representante regional de

Estepona. Manilva y Casares para la Escuela de Administradores Colegiados de la Comunidad de Málaga y Melilla, durante los cuales se propuso recaudar fondos (a través de la Sociedad Benéfica Duquesa de Saint George) para proporcionar algún tipo de reconocimiento ya sea una placa o medalla, a ser presentado tanto en las estaciones como en las oficinas, etc., y a los oficiales individuales una vez que se compile una lista definitiva. También realizaremos consultas sobre lo que podemos donar para mejorar su entorno de trabajo, ya sea algo tan simple como una máquina de café, un tablero de dardos o cualquier otra cosa, para sus áreas recreativas u oficinas. Las respuestas iniciales de los diversos servicios de emergencia a los que nos hemos acercado han sido muy positivas. Estos premios serán otorgados en persona y habrá una oportunidad para que los donantes se unan a nosotros en las presentaciones, y puedan echar un vistazo de primera mano al lugar de trabajo de estos héroes. n recent days many people have expressed admiration at the work of the emergency services in dealing with the huge bush fires that plague us during the summer months, this coming to a head with the massive blaze in Manilva that led to the evacuation of 400 residents and tourists, all without one single injury. There have been calls by many, particularly local resident Bruce Lavelle on Manilva Coffee Chat, to 'reward' these brave people in some manner and with this in mind a number of representatives of the various branches of these services have been approached to see how best we can offer our heartfelt thanks. There are a number of issues that make this somewhat complicated. Firstly there are several bodies that combine to tackle these blazes: the Infoca wildfire specialists, the fire departments of a number of towns, Civil Protection, Local Police, Guardia Civil, the seaplane, helicopter, and light aircraft crews, some of whom are private contractors, Environment Officers, Forensic Fire Investigators, the list goes on, most of whom are not permitted to accept cash donations. Another issue is that they come from as far afield as Granada, Seville and Malaga so laying on some kind of meal or celebration would be nigh on impossible, but what their general response was that all they really wanted was people's appreciation and gratitude. A meeting was held, hosted by Manilva Coffee Chat admin and President of the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Dean Shelton and attended by Bruce Lavelle, Gary Beaumont from The Resident newspaper, and Joni Burnett, a Princesa Kristina resident and Regional Representative for Estepona Manilva and Casares for the College of Chartered Community

Medio ambiente denuncia la desaparición de un arroyo del Río Manilva

Habiendo tenido noticia de la práctica desaparición de uno de sus principales afluentes del río Manilva, el arroyo de los Molinos (y arroyo Albarrá), que descendía a los pies del conjunto kásrtico de la sierra de la Utrera, en el término municipal de Casares, generando dos espectaculares pozas -la del Infierno y la de la Paloma- consecuentemente secas a día de hoy; y de acuerdo con el minucioso estudio del cauce llevado a cabo por la Agenda de Medio Ambiente y el Grupo de Exploraciones Subterráneas de Casares (GES Casares) que revela que las causas de la merma del caudal está en la existencia de extracciones ilegales en su curso, el Área de Medio Ambiente del Ayun-

tamiento de Manilva, dirigida por Dean Tyler Shelton, se suma a esta denuncia. Es una situación intolerable, que afecta al medio y a la biodiversidad de uno de los más ricos y bellos parajes en la Costa del Sol y que compartimos el vecino municipio de Casares y Manilva. Es por lo que en el día de hoy se ha solicitado a la Agencia de Medio Ambiente y Agua de la Junta de Andalucía que se tomen las medidas oportunas para que se inspeccione la zona, se identifique a los responsables de esa extracciones ilegales y que, de forma inmediata, se proceda a la paralización de esas actividades para que se restablezca el flujo de agua al arroyo.

Department, directed by Dean Tyler Shelton, has denounced this situation. It is an intolerable situation that affects the environment and biodiversity of one of the richest and most beautiful places on the Costa del Sol and that we share with the neighbouring municipality of Casares. New water kiosk opens in Sabinillas

Installed by the Italian company Ecozona, which has over 6 thousand such kiosks throughout Italy, this is the first permanent kiosk to be installed in Spain, although the company does provide mobile units for large events, music festivals, etc. The kiosk takes water from the public water supply and passes it through a stringent filtration system before being delivered, nicely chilled at the vending point. The system is designed with public health at the forefront, all the tubes, and outlet nozzles are automatically sterilised, after 15 minutes of inactivity preventing the build up of bacteria. The water is available either still or

sparkling at the nominal cost of 5 cents for 500 ml; 10 cents for a litre; and 15 cents for a litre and a half, you just have to provide the container. Dean Tyler Shelton, Councillor for Manilva’s Environment Department, told The Resident that “This is the culmination of two years work to secure this facility, the first in Spain, for Manilva.” Councillor Shelton also pointed out the advantages “Not only does the facility provide low cost filtered water that hasn’t been sat in a bottle for days, weeks, or even longer, it is also important from an ecological point of view, reducing the need for single use plastic bottles, and all the energy that goes into processing and transporting, thus reducing the consumer’s carbon footprint”. Manilva pone en marcha el servicio de rescate con dron Desde viernes 27 de julio se pone en marcha el nuevo servicio de rescate salvavidas con Dron en las playas de nuestra localidad, que estará activo hasta el 19 de agosto coincidiendo con la máxima afluencia de personas en el municipio. El desarrollo de este servicio se ha cuadrado con la disponibilidad presupuestaria, ya que aunque se trata de un equipamiento de un coste elevado, también puede resolver situaciones de máxima emergencia. Cabe recordar, que hace unos días el alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez junto a la edil de Playas, Eva Galindo, y los concejales Patricia Recio, Marcos Ruiz, Diego Urieta, Paqui López y Agustín Vargas, presenciaron en directo un simulacro de rescate con el apoyo del sistema dron. La seguridad de las personas que acuden a las playas plantea diferentes retos, como son la extensión del espacio a vigilar, la

afluencia de personas, la accesibilidad a diferentes zonas y la proximidad del mar. Por ello, la empresa Aeromedia UAV dispone de un salvavidas ligero que se lanza desde un dron. Este salvavidas cuenta con un sistema electrónico de autoinflado que permite a la víctima alcanzarlo fácilmente. El Safedron es un sistema compuesto por un dron que transporta un salvavidas homologado de activación electrónica. El piloto posiciona el Safedron sobre la víctima, le lanza el salvavidas, y este se infla en 3 segundos junto a ella. La víctima recoge el salvavidas y dispone de mayores recursos hasta que el personal de rescate la puede auxiliar. La delegada de Playas, Eva Galindo, destacaba que el objetivo que se persigue con la implantación de este sistema es el de poder ofrecer mayor seguridad a los bañistas.

Prevencion de incendios y plan de emergencia Estuvo tan cerca que incluso pensar en el incendio hace que se me pare el corazón… Después de la noche más terrorífica de nuestras vidas, ahora debemos mirar hacia el futuro, y hacer lo que tengamos que hacer para que estas cosas no nos pillen desprevenidos ¿cómo podemos proteger a nuestras familias? y ¿cómo podemos proteger nuestros hogares? En nuestra zona hay muchas urbanizaciones que están en una situación similar a Princesa Kristina y los Hidalgos, rodeados de campo, esto tiene sus bellezas y sus riegos, como ya sabemos todos. Incendios forestales no ocurren todos los días, pero sí hay otros incendios más frecuentes; como vehículos en garajes, incendios de cocinas por desatender lo que cocinábamos, velas desatendidas durante la noche, cigarrillos en el dormitorio, y un largo etcétera que podrían acabar en una tragedia que no queremos ni imaginar. En urbanizaciones de reciente construcción y aquellos que se están rehabilitando, hay que cumplir la normativa de prevención del código Técnico de la edificación, que tiene en cuenta: 1. Extintores: Comunidades, y yo siempre aplico esto para nuestros hogares, han de tener un extintor portátil por cada 15 m de pasillo, incluyendo los garajes. Hay que revisarlos cada año y se ve si esto se ha hecho con la pega-

tina que deben tener. El coste es mínimo y son imprescindibles en una emergencia. 2. Mangueras y sistemas de detección contra incendios: estos no son requeridos en aparcamientos pequeños pero sí en los grandes. También hay que revisarlos con carácter anual. 3. Luces de emergencia: solo se requieren en edificios con más de 100 residentes. En comunidades y propiedades que estén a las afueras del pueblo, debéis considerar hacer un cortafuegos, independientemente de que el terreno sea público o privado. Debéis consultar siempre con urbanismo antes de hacer este tipo de tareas. Debe tener un ancho mínimo de 10m, aunque 20m seria mejor. Tener un cortafuegos alrededor de una de las urbanizaciones afectadas ha significado que los daños se limitaron a los jardines de las plantas bajas, pero no llegaron al edificio en sí. Los muebles de las terrazas de los áticos en la 5ª planta se derritieron por las elevadas temperaturas, así que podeís imaginaros la temperatura alcanzada y cuanto hubieran durado los edificios si hubiera llegado el fuego. Este listado de consejos para la prevención de incendios puede ser muy útil: • Si hueles a gas, no enciendas la luz, una chispa podría desatar un incendio. • Tened cuidado con los cigarillos, hay que asegurarse de apagarlos, no dejarlos

After the scariest night that most of us have ever endured, we have to look to the future, and we have to see what we can do to be prepared how can we protect our families and how can we protect our homes? In our area there are many communities that are in a similar situation to Princesa Kristina and Los Hidalgos, that are surrounded by ‘campo’, this has its beauty and also its risks, as we all now know. Forest fires are quite rare, but other fires are more frequent than we would think, like cars in underground car parks, kitchen fires from leaving something on the stove and forgetting about it, candles during the night, cigarettes in the bedroom and an endless list that can end in the tragedy that none of us want to even think about. In newly built urbanisations, and properties that are being refurbished, there are rules and regulations determined by building legislation that covers fire prevention: 1.

Fire extinguishers: Communities, and I always extend this to our homes, need to have portable fire extinguishers hang-

ing on the wall. These need to be every 15m (49 feet) on each floor, including in garages. Fire extinguishers need to be serviced every year and you can check if they have been serviced by checking the sticker. The cost is minimal and they are vital in an emergency. Equipped fire hydrants & fire detection systems and alarms: These are not a legal requirement in smaller underground car parks but they are in larger ones. These also need to be serviced annually. Emergency lighting: This is only a requirement in buildings of over 100 occupants.

In communities and villas that are on the outskirts of town you should seriously consider a fire break, regardless of whether the land is private or public. You should always consult with town planners prior to clearing the land. You need to clear a minimum of 10m, but 20m would be iddeal. Having a fire break around one of the affected communities meant that the damages were limited to ground

floor gardens, but did not reach the actual buildings. Furniture melted on the penthouse apartment terraces, so you can imagine the heat and how long these buildings would have lasted if the fire had got into them. Your home fire prevention checklist should take all considerations into account:

Vendimia - Manilva’s Grape Harvest Festival Every year, on the first weekend in September, Manilva celebrates its annual grape harvest. This festival was founded in the early '60s and has become an important part of the local calendar, drawing in visitors from across the region. Most of the events and activities take place in and around Manilva’s main street, Calle Mar, The Wine Centre, and the Plaza de la Vendimia square. ARRENDAMIENTO POR TEMPORADA El arrendamiento de vivienda en la L.A.U., (Ley de Arrendamiento Urbano), establece un sistema obligatorio de defensa del inquilino, fundamentalmente en cuanto a la duración del alquiler, que ahora son tres años irrenunciables para el inquilino. La picaresca que siempre ha acompañado a los alquileres, para evitar los plazos obligatorios, ha sido crear la solución absurda e ineficaz, de pactar una duración de once meses, haciendo constar que se trata de un alquiler de temporada, es decir, distinto de vivienda. Conforme a la Ley, el alquiler será de vivienda si el destino primordial es satisfacer la necesidad permanente de vivienda del arrendatario. Si queremos pactar un arrendamiento sobre una casa, apartamento o piso pero que sea considerado a efectos legales distinto de vivienda, hay que indicar en el contrato: 1. En primer lugar debe quedar claro que no se trata de la vivienda

In order to avoid the obligatory stipulated rental period of three years people mistakenly think that by stating in the contract that it is for a period of 11 months, or stating that it is a seasonal rental, or that it is not the tenant’s habitual residence, that this means that the three year period does not apply. However, these clauses s are invalid because they do not comply with the law. According to the Law, a rental is considered residential unless the rental contract specifically specifies that the apartment or house is not legally considered the habitual residence of the tenant and to ensure the legality of the contract the following points must be included:1. Firstly, it must be made clear in the contract that the property subject of the contract is not the tenant’s habitual residence, so the contract must clearly specify the address of the habitual residence of the tenant, which obviously cannot be the same one as that which is the subject of the contract. 2. Secondly, a reason justifying why the contract should be excluded from the housing lease regulation must be determined. That is to say the reason why the tenant needs to rent the property for a shorter period. For example: because the tenant is a student and the property is in the place where he studies; or an employee or worker who needs temporary housing because of a specific job in that location. 3. Finally, you would have to state the duration of the contract, which should be specified as non-extendable and should coincide with the previous parameters, i.e. school year, or the period required for completing a job. Sotogrande ya ejerce como capital mundial del polo Mucho donde elegir

Almost everyone living here in the Manilva area either was or knows someone who was affected by last weeks dreadful bush fire. Two members of our own staff were evacuated, devastated at the thought of losing their home at Bella Vista. If it was not for the brave actions of our emergency services it is safe to say that things could have been much worse. There is currently a Go Fund Me page set up by Manilva Coffee Chat admin and various other members of our community to raise funds in appreciation of the great work carried out by our emergency services both that night and many others all year round. We would like to help the Go Fund Me page to achieve its target of 3,000 euros which will go towards a variety of good causes including helping to improve their working environment.

Food Bank The Saint George Charity runs a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, and invites people to donate non-perishable goods, such as long life milk, pasta, rice, biscuits, tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, etc., along with toiletries, personal hygiene and cleaning items.

The charity will supplement these items with fresh produce, and will distribute on a weekly basis to a number of individuals and families that have been identified as being in urgent need of this service. Items can be donated at the St George Charity Shop in Calle Aurora Albornoz, Sabinillas, from 10 am to 1.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group In response to a tragic situation earlier in the year a number of local residents came together to form the BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group, a ‘befriending’ group to provide support, comfort and a point of contact for people facing a variety of challenges. The BuddyUp group is coordinated by Marguerite Wilkins, and already has a number of members signed up. Working closely with other local charities and organisations, including the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Citizens’ Advice, Cudeca, Social Services, etc., the group aims to provide support and advice for the elderly, disabled, those who have recently lost a partner, single parents, divorcees, the socially excluded, people that are new to the area, in fact anyone who might need someone to talk to or just pointing in the right direction.

BuddyUp volunteers work in pairs and have access to a wide range of resources to call upon depending on the needs of those they are assisting. In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; whilst the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds,

dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that fabulous bargain.

As well as stocking some great quality items the St George Charity shops also rent out various items such as wheelchairs, walking aids, travel cots, etc. The shop management welcome donations of quality secondhand items, and can arrange collection if needed. We are also looking for secondhand books, especially in languages other than English, to populate are extensive bookshelves. 8 cosas que tu perro odia que hagas y muy pocos saben Nuestros amigos caninos son probablemente los más fieles que podamos encontrar en la tierra. Eso no significa que les guste todo lo que hacemos. No hay que olvidar que son animales y que no les podemos tratar siempre de la misma forma como trataríamos a nuestros amigos ya que tienen comportamientos diferentes.

5 Paseos apresurados

No saques a tu perro por el simple hecho de sacarlo de casa. Si no vas a dejarle oler lo que hay a su alrededor y quieres que vaya pegado a ti hasta que haga sus necesidades y volver a casa no deberías ni molestarte en sacarlo. Les hará respetarle más y verás que tu perro es más feliz si le das algo de libertad.

6 Gritarle

1 Contacto visual prolongado

Muchas veces los perros no nos entienden por mucho que les gritemos, a veces es más recomendable usar el lenguaje corporal. Ellos lo entienden más fácilmente y tú no te quedarás afónico después de ver tus zapatillas favoritas destrozadas. Los perros son expertos en saber cómo nos sentimos en función de nuestros movimientos y expresiones corporales, por lo que te hará más caso que si sólo gritas.

Entre los humanos, el hecho de mantener contacto visual mientras hablas significa confianza pero con los perros no ocurre lo mismo, sobre todo si es un perro desconocido. Para ellos el contacto visual se utiliza para indicar dominio sobre otro perro, por lo que te aconsejamos evitarlo sobre todo cuando estés en la calle.

2 Correa tensa

El paseo es la parte favorita de nuestros amigos caninos por lo que para que se sientan cómodos, asegúrate de que la correa no esté muy tensa. Muchas veces cuando la correa está muy tensa se paran y se niegan a andar ya que sienten que les estás forzando a hacer algo que no quieren.

3 Demasiados abrazos

Para nosotros los abrazos son un forma de expresar lo que sentimos y decir cuánto nos importa una persona pero deberías pensarlo dos veces antes de hacerlo con tu amigo canino. Los perros odian los abrazos, al menos la

mayoría, aunque siempre hay excepciones. Para ellos, los abrazos significan dominación, por lo que es mejor que le muestres tu amor de otra forma.

4 Dejarlos solos

A los perros no les gusta estar solos durante largos periodos de tiempo ya que son animales que viven manada. Se sentirán inseguros si los dejas continuamente solos y les puede llevar a sufrir depresión, ansiedad o comportamientos indeseados. Algunos perros lo llevan mejor que otros, pero dejarlos solos más de 8 horas puede ser incomprensible para ellos.

7 Forzarle a jugar

Si te das cuenta de que tu perro no tiene ganas de jugar no deberías forzarle a hacerlo. Es como cuando a los humanos los sacas de su zona de confort, vas a provocarle estrés y ansiedad en lugar de tranquilidad y confianza.

8 Molestarlo y picarlo

A nadie le gusta que le piquen y molesten continuamente, por lo que debes comportarte igual con tu perro. No intentes hacerte el gracioso, sobre todo si juegas con tu perro, por ejemplo a la pelota, ya que se molestarán y terminarán perdiendo la confianza en ti.

3 Too many hugs For us hugs are a way to express what we feel and say how

¡Bonito trasero! A menudo me preguntan qué ejercicio es mejor para cambiar la forma de tu trasero y piernas. Para mi personalmente, siempre serán las estocadas. Sus beneficios son casi infinitos: refuerzan los músculos de las piernas, fortalecen tu médula, mejoran tu equilibrio, movilidad y flexibilidad, e incluso ayudan a estabilizar los músculos. Mejoran la concienciación espacial y corporal, y ayudan a estirar tus caderas. Sin embargo a algunos no les gustan las estocadas, e incluso hay gente que piensan que son malas para tus rodillas ¡en serio! Esto por supuesto no puede estar más lejos de la realidad, a menos que tengas una lesión de rodilla, prótesis o artritis. Pero para la mayoría, las estocadas son beneficiosas para mantener tus rodillas saludables. Los errores más comunes a la hora de realizar este ejercicio son los culpables de los posibles daños a las rodillas y hoy vamos a intentar resolver algunos de ellos, para que puedas realizar estocadas perfectas. Para los principiantes no se necesita equipamiento, y a medida que progresas puedes añadir pesas para trabajar todo el cuerpo. Recomiendo usar un espejo para poder ver la posición de tu cuerpo, o hacer que alguien te grabe para que puedas comprobar tu técnica. Tómate tu tiempo, permanece estable y evita tambalearte sobre tus rodillas. Debes intentar conseguir un ángulo de 90 grados en ambas piernas, manteniendo tu tronco recto y tus abdominales tensados (no relajados), los hombros hacia atrás. Intenta que tus caderas no se adelanten. Los pies deberían estar separados a la altura de tu cadera, intenta dar

Recomendaría estocadas estáticas para empezar, desde una posición básica, baja tu rodilla trasera solo para “besar el suelo” y luego vuelve a ponerte de pie, y repite. Empujar desde tus talones (intenta mover los dedos de los pies) ayuda a activar los glúteos. Intenta hacer 12 con cada pierna, luego descansa y repite dos veces. Una vez que domines las estocadas estáticas, prueba otras alternativas: la pierna izquierda adelantada, usando el talón para empujar hacia atrás, recuerda no inclinarte y mantener tu torso recto, luego cambia de pierna. De nuevo, repite doce veces x 3 rondas. Sugiero añadir las estocadas a tu entrenamiento, dos veces a la semana. Una vez que seas eficiente con ellas, hay muchas alternativas, como estocadas con pesas, estocadas hacia atrás, sobre la cabeza, cada una con una dinámica y desafío diferente. Nice Ass! People often ask me, what exercise do you think is best for changing the shape of your butt and legs? For me personally it would always be lunges. The benefits of lunges are almost infinite. They strengthen all muscles throughout the legs, strengthen your core, improve your balance, mobility, and flexibility, and even help in muscle stabilization. They improve spacial and body awareness, and help stretch out tight hips. However, there are still people out there that don’t like lunges and even those that believe lunges are bad for your knees, gasp! This, of course, couldn’t be farther from the truth, unless you have a knee injury, replacements, or arthritis. But for most of us, lunges are actually beneficial for keeping our knees healthy. Common lunge mistakes are almost always to blame for discomfort in the knees, and today we are going to go over some of the most common mistakes and how to fix them, so that you can perform pain-free and perfect lunges. For beginners no equipment is needed, as you progress and you become more stable and stronger, then adding weight increases the

demands on the whole of the body not just the lower half. I would recommend using a mirror so that you can view your body position, or get someone to film you so that you can check your technique. take your time, stay stable and avoid ‘wobbling’ at the knees. You are aiming for 90 degree angle on both legs, keeping your trunk upright and your abs braced (not relaxed), shoulders back.try not to ‘push’ your hips forward . Feet should be approx hip width apart, aim to take a stride, not too long do that so your back leg is straight and not too short that your front knee pushes over your front toes. I would recommend static lunges to start with, from a basic position, bring your back knee down to just ‘ kiss the floor’ then return to standing, repeat. Pushing through your heels (try wiggling the toes) really helps engage the butt. Try 12 each leg, then rest and repeat for 2 more rounds. Once you have mastered static lunges, try alternative stride lunges, left leg forward, using the front heel to push back, remember not to

lean and keep your torso upright and tight, then change legs. Again, 12 reps each leg x 3 rounds. I would suggest adding lunges to your workoutaiming to do them twice a week. Once you’re efficient with them, there are lots of alternatives, such as weighted lunges, backward lunges, overhead ones, each has a slightly different dynamic and challenge. Local Golf Tournament for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer The charitable spirit on the coast is alive and well. On Sunday, 12th August is the Annual Golf For Moore Tournament at El Paraiso Golf Club. Every euro collected

will go directly to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Fund. Local resident David Hewitt of Hewitt & Hewitt Graphic Design has been fundraising for the

Bobby Moore Charity since 2007 and in that time he has raised over 40,000 Euros to the Charity! There are 22 teams of four players, eighty-eight players in total. The Tournament format is a Vegas Scramble with a shotgun start. This is similar to a Texas scramble format, but with a twist. Each team will roll dice on each tee box and what number they roll will correspond with a team member. How ever the dice rolls determines which playerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s tee shot must be played. While the field may be full, you can still contribute to the cause as a volunteer or by participating in the raffle. The raffle will be held at 4pm at the Leisure Lounge in Duquesa Port. The prize pool is the largest that it has ever been. Prizes range from dinners, to drinks, golf lessons, and tee times. Raffle tickets are only 5 Euros per strip (5 tickets).With your help, we can make this event the biggest yet. The Goal this year is to send 5,000 Euros to the Bobby Moore Fund, and it is only possible with your participation. A bunker rake has two sides. One side has teeth and it used to scrape up sand to level out the hitting area. Most golfers know how to use this side of the rake and proudly leave grooves in the sand as a sign of their respect to the course. Unfortunately, hitting a ball out of grooves in the sand is just as difficult and off-putting as hitting out of a footprint. If you flip the bunker rake over you will find a flat side. This side is used to remove the grooves and flatten out the sand. Having a flat surface in the bunkers makes one of the most difficult shots in golf a bit more manageable. Este clásico del deporte local está organizado conjuntamente por la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, el Ayuntamiento de Estepona y el

Club Deportivo Estepona Triatlón, y forma parte del XVIII Circuito Provincial de Triatlón “Diputación de Málaga”, con la concurrencia de la Federación Andaluza de Triatlón (Delegación Malagueña) como entidad prestadora de servicios encomendados, y cuenta con la colaboración de numerosos clubes locales. El plazo de inscripción finalizará

el 13 de agosto de 2018 a las 14.00 horas, o una vez completadas las 500 plazas que se ofertan, ya que son varios años en los que la participación supera ampliamente los 400 triatletas.
