Dinero, dinero, dinero! La economía de la Comunidad – ¿a dónde va mi dinero?

ace algunos años, Hacienda inició una campaña publicitaria basada en el concepto de que “Hacienda somos todos”. Lo que pretendían era que la gente se concienciara de que los impuestos que pagamos se reinvierten en la Sociedad. Esto se convirtió un poco en chiste, debido a la situación política española y los impuestos excesivos que pagamos los contribuyentes. Sin embargo, si extendemos este concepto a nuestras Comunidades, “todos somos la comunidad”, tal vez nos ayude a comprender cómo funciona la economía de la Comunidad. El único ingreso que recibe la Comunidad suelen ser las cuotas que pagan los propietarios, y el único gasto debe ser el la inversión en mantenimiento, reparaciones y servicios para las zonas comunes. El control que las autoridades tributarias tienen sobre las transacciones financieras de las Comunidades es casi inexistente. La única declaración de impuestos que es obligatoria es la Declaración Informativa del Modelo 347, que debe presentar el Administrador en febrero de cada año. Ésta declaración detalla los proveedores a los que la Comunidad les ha pagado más de 3000€ en el ejercicio económico anterior. No hay declaraciones ni deducciones por IVA, no hay Impuesto de Sociedades y rara vez hay una inspección de Hacienda. Por lo tanto, es cada vez más importante que las comunidades cuenten con un Administrador de Fincas Colegiado, que tenga los avales y la formación necesaria para administrar el dinero de su comunidad. Entre el Administrador y el Presidente tienen el control total de la economía de la comunidad y deciden en que se gasta. El ejercicio económico en España coincide con el año natural, de Enero a Diciembre, aunque las comunidades pueden decidir si quieren que tenga un periodo distinto para su presupuesto interno. Muchas comunidades establecen que su ejercicio contable vaya de Julio a Junio del siguiente año, o de Abril a Marzo, como se tiene por costumbre en el Reino Unido. Siempre y cuando las declaraciones de impuestos anuales se presenten en plazo, las fechas efectivas del presupuesto no importan. La previsión es que las Autoridades tributarias aumentarán el control financiero sobre las comunidades en el futuro, por lo que siempre será más fácil administrar adecuadamente su comunidad si su ejercicio contable corresponde con el año natural. Las comunidades tienen un presupuesto ordinario que se aprueba en la Junta General Ordinaria. Este presupuesto debe tener en cuenta una estimación del gasto que tendrá la comunidad y se utiliza para calcular las cuotas de todos los propietarios. Estas cuotas dependerán del coeficiente que tenga la propiedad

dentro del total del complejo, por lo que la cantidad a pagar variará de una propiedad a otra, independientemente del número de personas que residan en cada vivienda. Este presupuesto es estimatorio, por lo que la Comunidad no utilizará necesariamente todas las partidas económicas establecidas. Si el presupuesto es mayor que el gasto, habrá superávit, y este superávit se puede deducir del presupuesto del año siguiente, o se puede dejar como fondo comunitario para acciones o necesidades futuras. Esto funciona al revés también. Si tiene morosos, significa que no se recaudará el total del presupuesto, por lo que tendrá un déficit, incluso si el gasto está dentro del presupuesto, y la siguiente Junta General tendrá que decidir si incrementar las cuotas, aprobar una derrama o reducir los gastos para cubrir este déficit. Si se sabe que la Comunidad tiene un 20% de morosidad, entonces deberá aumentar el presupuesto ordinario para asegurarse de que tendrá los fondos necesarios para pagar a sus proveedores. Cuando los morosos liquiden sus deudas, también pagarán el incremento, de modo que la Comunidad recuperará los fondos a largo plazo. Una morosidad del 10% se considera normal. Hay una partida presupuestaria legalmente requerida llamada “Fondo legal o Fondo de reserva” y el mínimo es un 5% del presupuesto total, esto es básicamente un colchón para permitir fluctuaciones en los gastos, deudores y reparaciones extraordinarias. En la Junta General su Administrador proporcionará un ‘balance de pérdidas y ganancias’. Las cifras contempladas en este documento tienen en cuenta que se cobrarán todos los morosos y se pagarán todas las deudas pendientes de pago. Pero puede que ésta no sea la situación real de su comunidad, por lo que siempre debe preguntar cuales son los ingresos reales y los gastos reales de la Comunidad, para tener una información más fehaciente. El Balance puede indicar que la comunidad tiene activos por 250.000€, sin embargo, en cifras reales esto puede significar una morosidad de 270.000€, deudas a proveedores de 30.000€ y efectivo en el banco por 10.000€. En tal caso la situación real de su comunidad sería un déficit efectivo de -20.000€ (necesita 20.000€ más para poder pagar a todos sus proveedores ya que no se sabe cuando se recuperarán las cuotas que deben los morosos). Con estas cifras, la comunidad no estaría bien en absoluto, si fuera una empresa estaría casi en bancarrota y sin liquidez para pagar sus deudas. Por eso es tan importante tener en cuenta los ingresos reales, el gasto real y las deudas reales cuando se informa a la Comunidad sobre su situación económica, no solo los números que aparecen en

el balance. El Presidente debe ajustarse a este presupuesto y asegurarse de que todos los servicios acordados se lleven a cabo, y no pueden excederse al menos que sea estrictamente necesario. Si esto sucede, debe informar a los propietarios

para que se puedan tomar medidas correctivas. Aparte del presupuesto ordinario, la Comunidad puede aprobar presupuestos extraordinarios, pero ya hablaremos de eso el mes que viene. Si tenéis preguntas me los podéis

Money, money, Money! Community finances – Where does my money go?

ome years ago the Spanish tax authority started a marketing campaign based on the concept of ‘Hacienda somos todos’, this translates to: ‘we are all the tax man’. What they intended was for people to understand that the taxes we pay get reinvested into the Spanish Society. This became a bit of an ongoing joke because of the Spanish Political scene and the excessive taxes that we pay in Spain. However, if we extend this concept to our Communities, ‘we are all the community’, then maybe it will help us understand how Community finances work. The only income the Community receives is usually the fees that owners pay, and the only expenditure should be the cost of maintenance, upkeep and services for the communal areas within. The control that tax authorities have on the Community’s financial transactions is nearly inexistent. The only tax declaration that is compulsory for communities is a document that your Administrator needs to submit in February every year. It details the providers who the Community has paid over 3000€ to in the previous fiscal year. There are no VAT declarations or deductions, no capital gains and rarely a tax inspection. So, it is increasingly important for you to have a trustworthy Chartered Com-

munity Administrator managing your money, as the Administrator and the President will have the total control of your finances and where your money goes. The Spanish Tax year runs from January to December, although Communities can decide when their ‘budgetary’ year goes to and from. Many communities decide to run from July to the following June, or from April to March, like in the UK. As long as the yearly tax returns are submitted when needed, the actual dates on the budget do not matter. The prevision is that the Tax Authorities will increase the financial control over communities in the future, so it will always be easier to manage if your financial year corresponds with the Spanish tax year. Communities have an ordinary budget that is approved at the AGM each year. This budget needs to take into account an estimation of the expenditure that the community will have and is used to calculate everyone’s Community fees. These fees will depend on the ‘share’ that your property owns within the Community, so the amount to pay will vary from property to property, regardless of the number of people who reside within. This budget is an estimation, so the Community will not necessarily use all the funds allocated in the financial term. If the budget is higher than the expenditure, then you will have a surplus, and the excess can be deducted from the following year’s budget, or left as a cushion for any future funds needed in the Community. This works the other way round as well. If you have debtors it will mean that the whole of the budget in not collected, so you will have a deficit even if your expenditure is within the budget, and the following AGM will need to decide whether to increase fees, issue an extra payment, or reduce services to cover this deficit. If you know that the Community has 20% of debtors, then you will need to increase the ordinary budget to make sure that you will have the funds to pay your providers. When the debtors eventually their outstanding fees, they will pay the extra too, so the Community will recover the funds in the long run. An estimat-

ed 10% of debtors can be expected in a Community. There is an item in the budget that is required legally called ‘Legal Fund or Reserve fund’ and the minimum is 5% of the total budget, this is basically a cushion to allow for fluctuations in expenditure, debtors and extraordinary repairs. What your Administrator provides as accounts at the AGM is usually a ‘balance sheet’. The figures contemplated in this document would be accurate if all the outstanding fees are collected and all payments are up to date. This may not be the situation in your Community and you should always ask what the real income and real expenditure is so that the information is clear. Your ‘balance sheet’ may say that the Community has assets to the value of 250.000€, but this may mean that you have 270.000€ of debtors who owe the Community, 30.000€ owed to providers and 10.000€ in the bank, so your real situation is -20.000€ (you need an extra 20.000€ to be able to pay your providers off as you have 270.000€ owed to the community by debtors, and you can’t estimate when you will recover those fees). So the community is not well off at all, you would be at a borderline bankruptcy with an extremely bad cash flow situation. This is why it is so important to take into account the real income, real expenditure and real debts when advising the Community of their financial situation, not only the numbers that appear on the paperwork. The President has to abide by this budget, and make sure all the agreed services are carried out, and cannot overspend unless strictly necessary. He should inform owners if this happens so that corrective actions can be taken. Navidades especiales en Casares con pistas de patinaje y musicales en los tres núcleos del municipio El Ayuntamiento de Casares presenta una completa programación de Navidad con programas específicos para Casares, Costa y Secadero, en los que destaca un gran número de actividades dirigidas al público infantil y juvenil, pero sin olvidarse de otros sectores de población. La principal novedad esta Navidad es la pista de patinaje que estará tres días en cada núcleo del municipio: del 14 al 16

de diciembre en los Jardines del Rosario de Casares Costa, del 21 al 23 de diciembre en la plaza de la Paz de Secadero, y de del 28 al 30 de diciembre en la plaza Marcelino Camacho de Casares. Asimismo desde el Ayuntamiento de Casares se han contratado tres musicales para Navidad, (Des) montando Disney podremos verlo en la carpa municipal de Secadero el 20 de diciembre y en el Centro Cultural de Casares el día 23 de diciembre. Y en los

jardines del Rosario de Casares Costa tendremos el musical “El Guardián de los Sueños” el día 26 de diciembre. Otro día especial en Casares será el sábado 22 de diciembre que se celebra el Belén Viviente, que en esta ocasión contará con un mercado desde las 11 de la mañana hasta las 9 de la noche que finalizará en la plaza con una Zambomba. No obstante este año, priman las actividades conjuntas para todo el municipio, como el viaje cultural a Málaga del próximo 6 de diciembre, en el que vecinos de los tres núcleos podrán disfrutar del alumbrado y el ambiente navideño. O las actividades juveniles, que brindan a los jóvenes de Casares, Costa y Secadero la posibilidad de pasar un rato juntos con una jornada de deportes de aventura en Casares el 5 de diciembre, en el que podrán disfrutar de la tirolina y la vía ferrata, y con salidas conjuntas al Refugio de Sierra Crestellina, al Paintball de Guadiaro o al centro comercial de Marbella. Además de sesiones de cine y torneos deportivos en los tres núcleos. Los mayores también contarán con un espacio especial con fiestas navideñas ambientadas por la música del dúo Latidos, en Secadero el 17 de diciembre, en Costa el 18 y en Casares el 19. Estas navidades tampoco faltarán actividades como la visita de Papá Noel a Casares Costa, las fiestas de recogida de cartas para los Reyes Magos, el arrastre de latas de Secadero y las cabalgatas de Reyes, que en Casares tendrá un formato novedoso con carrozas y para la que se ha dispuesto un autobús desde Costa.

El presupuesto municipal de Casares aumenta hasta los 13.843.240 euros Un 25 por ciento de este presupuesto, 3.180.000 euros, está destinados a la creación de nuevas infraestructuras. Si atendemos a la naturaleza del gasto, la mayor parte de los gastos, 8.5 millones de euros, son para servicios públicos básicos y preferentes, como seguridad y movilidad ciudadana, vivienda, recogida de RSU, sanidad, educación, cultura, fiestas, y deportes, entre otros. Con una previsión de ingresos de 16.151.477 euros, el Ayuntamiento de Casares lleva a pleno el próximo viernes un presupuesto municipal para 2019 de 13.843.240 euros. Una cuenta que como explica el teniente de alcalde delegado de Hacienda, Guzmán Ahumada, continúa la tendencia de aumento de los últimos años, 662.982 euros más que el de 2018, aunque con los topes impuestos por la regla de gasto y la Ley “Montoro” de Estabilidad Presupuestaria. Entre las actuaciones más destacables que el Ayuntamiento tiene presupuestadas para el próximo año se encuentran la rehabilitación del edificio Peñón Roao donde se ubicará el centro de mayores y la sala de

velatorio (150.000 euros); segundas fases de los dos edificios multiusos: 150.000 euros para la guardería municipal que irá ubicada en el de Casares Costa y 293.000 euros para el de Secadero; la mejora del camino a la Ermita (50.000 euros), la construcción de la guardería municipal de Casares (423.000 euros), y otras inversiones como la iluminación del Parque los Alegres en casares Costa y la mejora de señalización de urbanizaciones, mejoras de senderos en costa, eliminación de fibrocemento en Barrio Bajo. También tiene en cuenta otras partidas abiertas en las que se incluyen los 350.000 euros de los presupuestos participativos y otras cuantías para desarrollar distintas actuaciones en los tres núcleos urbanos como vías públicas (140.000 €), RSU (52.000 €), parques y jardines (50.000 €) inversiones infraestructuras deportivas (175.000), parques infantiles y biosaludables (80.000 €), caminos públicos (60.000 €). Asimismo, el presupuesto incluye otros proyectos de infraestructuras que el Ayuntamiento va a realizar conjuntamente con

otras administraciones. Como es el caso de los dos proyectos de Senda Litoral: la pasarela sobre el Arroyo Jordana (218.000 €) y el paseo y pasarela de Arroyo Parrilla (283.000 €); y una inversión en ahorro energético de iluminación pública que ronda los 397.000 euros.

Servicios públicos Si analizamos la cuenta desde el punto de vista de la naturaleza del gasto, la mayor parte el presupuesto está destinado a los servicios públicos municipales que se dividen en 5.316.312 euros para servicios básicos como seguridad ciudadana, movilidad, vivienda, vías públicas, recogida de RSU, urbanismo, bienestar comunitario y medio ambiente entre otros.Y otros 3.217.615 euros para servicios de carácter preferente como sanidad, educación, cultura, fiestas, ocio, tiempo libre y deportes. Asimismo, es destacable que este presupuesto recoge 349.689 euros para actuaciones de protección social. Y más de 1 millón de euros para actuaciones de carácter económico: co-

La Escuela Municipal de Música de Casares comienza a funcionar Desde el Ayuntamiento se ha ampliado las clases a dos días, jueves y viernes, debido a que el número de inscritos, más de 30 alumnos, ha superado la previsión inicial. El pasado viernes se realizaron los primeros contactos con el alumnado y se formaron los grupos en función del nivel y de las modalidades musicales: guitarra, piano, batería, bajo, canto, y los minimúsicos para los menores de 7 años. No obstante aún hay algunos huecos libres por lo que las personas interesadas pueden pedir información en la Casa Natal de Blas Infante y en la Casa de la Juventud. La Escuela Municipal de Música en Casares es una innovadora iniciativa de la Concejalía de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Casares que pretende ofrecer a la población la posibilidad de formarse musicalmente sin salir del municipio. Para los que se ha prepara-

do un aula en la Casa de la Juventud dotada de los instrumentos y material necesario. El precio de la formación es de 28 euros mensuales que incluyen una clase semanal en el instrumento elegido de una hora de duración, y otra clase semanal de teoría musical común a todas las asignaturas. Los niños de 3 a 7 años se integran en “Los Minimúsicos”, con un programa de educación musical básica especial para los más pequeños.

Las clases se ofrecen en grupos reducidos, de no más de 5 alumnos, y están impartidas por profesorado titulado de Rock Factory que forman al alumnado con una metodología en música moderna diseñada para examinarse en el programa Trinity y adquirir un título oficial europeo en Rock & Pop. Estos exámenes podrán realizarse en la misma Escuela Municipal de Casares, sin necesidad de tener que desplazarse.

Finaliza la obra del Hospital costeado con 15 millones de euros por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de la finalización de la obra del Hospital de Estepona, que se inició en junio de 2017 y que ha cumplido el plazo de ejecución previsto de 18 meses, que concluyó ayer. El alcalde de Estepona, José María García urbano, ha destacado que la construcción y puesta en funcionamiento de este equipamiento es “un hito para Estepona”, con la que, sin ninguna duda, “es la infraestructura más importante de las últimas décadas en la localidad”. “Este Hospital ha sido la aspiración de los vecinos durante muchos años y, por tanto, es momento de celebrar con satisfacción lo que hemos conseguido para la ciudad”, ha señalado el regidor, que ha valorado el avance en calidad de vida que “supone esta valiosa mejora en la prestación del servicio sanitario” para los ciudadanos. Las obras, con una inversión de 15 millones de euros, han sido costeadas íntegramente por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona en virtud de un acuerdo de colaboración firmado con la Consejería de Salud de la Junta de Andalucía, que contempla que una vez que finalicen los trabajos de construcción, la

administración autonómica, a través del Servicio Andaluz de Salud, se ocupará de la dotación y la puesta en funcionamiento del hospital, así como de sus gastos de mantenimiento. En este sentido, el SAS ha informado al Ayuntamiento de que se está preparando el expediente para la licitación de equipamiento y material para la puesta en funcionamiento. Precisamente, el Ayuntamiento de Estepona y el Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) han celebrado la comisión de seguimiento de las obras del Hospital de Estepona donde el Consistorio ha informado del estado de finalización de las mismas y en la que técnicos del SAS han presentado diversas mejoras técnicas que aconsejan para la obra y posterior equipamiento de las instalaciones, que serán ejecutadas de forma inmediata para proceder a la puesta a disposición del edificio a la Junta de Andalucía. El Hospital de Estepona tendrá capacidad para atender el 80 por ciento de las consultas de la comarca que hasta ahora son atendidas en el Hospital Costa del Sol, lo que supondrá más de 85.000 consultas, 91.000 urgencias y 4.000 intervenciones

Los Hospitales de Alta Resolución responden a un concepto organizativo que incorpora el concepto de Consulta de Acto Único, dirigido a que todas las pruebas y exploraciones necesarias se realicen -a ser posible- en un acto único y con la mayor brevedad, disminuyendo los tiempos de espera y potenciando la atención sanitaria urgente.

Por otra parte, incorpora los avances de la tecnología que favorecen la implantación en estos hospitales de la cirugía mayor ambulatoria, lo que permite que la estancia hospitalaria del enfermo se pueda y se deba reducir de forma significativa. Así, dispondrá de área Quirúrgica, Urgencias con zona de pediatría, Helisuperficie, Hospitalización polivalente, consultas para especialidades médicas o Radiología, entre otras áreas.

La Ruta de Murales Artísticos de Estepona incorpora su primera obra abstracta con una creación de Curro Leyton El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que la Ruta de Murales Artísticos, que se está impulsando desde el año 2012, se va a ampliar con la incorporación de la que será la primera obra de estilo abstracto. Esta nueva creación, que está siendo realizada por el artista Curro Leyton en una de las fachadas del polideportivo municipal de ‘La Lobilla’, ocupará una superficie aproximada de 60 metros cuadrados. Este mural, que llevará por título ‘Leyton’, tiene como objetivo “despertar la imaginación de los ciudadanos que la contemplen”. Según el artista, se trata de su creación más personal porque plasma su esencia como pintor abstracto, por lo que está utilizando líneas y sombras que aparentemente surgen de forma casual y que, en otros puntos de la fachada, se proyectan de una forma más intencionada. Como resultado de ello es que cada persona que contemple el mural tendrá una visión propia de la obra, que dependerá de las formas en las que se detenga. Los XIII Premios Estepona Social y Solidaria reconocen la labor de Aprona y del presidente de la Plataforma del Voluntariado El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha entregado los XIII Premios Estepona Social y Solidaria, que en esta edición ha reconocido el trabajo llevado a cabo por la Asociación Pro-Discapacitados Psíquicos de Estepona (Aprona) y por el voluntario José Antonio Martínez Fernández, presidente de la Plataforma del Voluntariado. El primer edil ha declarado que para Estepona supone un orgullo poder contar con entidades y con personas, que como las que han sido galardonadas, dedican su tiempo y esfuerzo a trabajar por los demás. Asimismo, ha destacado el gran valor de estos galardones que son otorgados por los propios voluntarios de los diferentes colectivos sociales del municipio los que eligen a los premiados mediante un sistema de votación. En lo que respecta a APRONA, García Urbano ha recordado la dilatada trayectoria de esta asociación, que desde 1975 trabajada para ofrecer apoyo a personas con diversidad funcional de distintas edades, con el objetivo de ofrecerles los mecanismos necesarios para desarrollar sus proyectos

personales y poder conseguir así una mayor autonomía y calidad de vida. Concretamente, con este galardón se reconoce el importante trabajo que lleva a cabo esta organización en una de las tantas facetas que desarrolla, conseguir la inserción social de sus usuarios. A este respecto, el responsable municipal ha expresado la satisfacción que supone para el Ayuntamiento colaborar con APRONA para favorecer la inserción laboral de sus usuarios. Así ha recordado que el Consistorio con la intención de fomentar la empleabilidad de estas personas cedió la gestión del nuevo Centro de Participación Activa de Mayores de las Mesas, además del parking de la Plaza Antonia Guerrero y de las dos áreas de estacionamiento que se han habilitado en la avenida San Lorenzo, posibilitando decenas de puestos de trabajo para este colectivo. Asimismo, el regidor ha tenido palabras de admiración para José Antonio Martínez, por la gran labor que desde hace años realiza al frente de la Plataforma del Voluntariado, una entidad que nace con la idea de aunar esfuerzos para así contribuir a un mejor funcionamiento de la acción voluntaria. Esta entidad aglutina a 30 asociaciones y da servicio a Estepona, Casares, Manilva y Sabinillas. Hace unos días el alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, acompañado de los ediles Dean Tyler Shelton, Francisco Miguel Álvarez, Diego Urieta y el presidente del Ateneo de la localidad, Ahmed Ksiri, recibían al Cónsul General de Marruecos, Abdelfatah Lebbar, para tratar diferentes asuntos. Uno de los objetivos que se persigue con este encuentro es el de estrechar lazos entre ambas comunidades y conseguir desarrollar un amplio programa

de colaboración multicultural que abarque desde la educación y la cultura, hasta el establecimiento de todo tipo de relaciones económicas que puedan servir para crear empleo y riqueza, El Ilustrísimo Cónsul General de Marruecos agradecía al alcalde y al resto de miembros del equipo de gobierno, el interés mostrado por fomentar este tipo de hermanamiento entre ambos países. Reconocimiento a la Policía Local de Manilva En agradecimiento por la labor desempeñada durante el incendio que azotó nuestro municipio el pasado verano, la Asociación St George y el grupo de Facebook “Manilva Coffee Chat” han entregado a la Policía Local una placa, una cámara de fotos y dos sillas de oficina. Tras el desgraciado suceso, muchas fueron las personas que quisieron poner en valor el esfuerzo de los cuerpos de seguridad y de los voluntarios que hicieron posible, a riesgo de sus propias vidas, que solo hubiese que lamentar daños materiales. Joni Burnett, como representante del colectivo de vecinos de Manilva, destacaba el trabajo que a diario realizan los servicios de seguridad para protegernos. Es por ello que han sido muchas las

personas que han querido colaborar con esta iniciativa. Dean Tyler Shelton, presidente de St. George, informaba que se entregará distinto material similar a los Bomberos de Manilva y Estepona así como a la Guardia Civil. El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, aprovechaba la ocasión para agradecer a todas las personas que han hecho un donativo. Asimismo, el primer edil destacaba las funciones que día a día realizan los cuerpos de seguridad y los voluntarios. Recognition of the Local Police in Manilva In gratitude for the work performed during the fire that hit Manilva last summer, the St George Association and the Facebook group "Manilva Coffee Chat" have presented the Local Police with a plaque, a camera and two office chairs. Campaña "Esta Navidad invierte en el comercio de tu pueblo" Más de 150 establecimientos locales van a participar en la tradicional campaña "Esta Navidad invierte en el comercio de tu pueblo", que desde hace años organiza el área de Comercio, que dirige Dean Tyler Shelton. El objetivo es fomentar el comer-

cio local en todos sus sectores, tales como tiendas de comestibles, textil, zapatos, complementos, perfumerías, peluquerías, bares, restaurantes, carnicerías, pescaderías o ferreterías. Para incentivar las compras navideñas en los vecinos y visitantes

que adquieran productos superiores a diez euros en los establecimientos adheridos a esta iniciativa, entrarán en el sorteo de dos fines de semana en hoteles de cuatro estrellas. El sorteo se realizará a mitad del mes de enero.

Comenzando en Nochebuena, la mayoría de los españoles pasarán la primera parte de la noche con sus familias disfrutando de un gran banquete, a menudo compuesto por pescado y marisco, aunque también con todo lo que puedas imaginar, y tras la cena, aquellos que aún puedan moverse, salen de fiesta o a visitar a sus amigos. El Día de Navidad es un día tranquilo, y algunos niños reciben regalos de Papá Noel, mientras que otros esperan a los Reyes Magos para que traigan sus regalos. Luego tienes una semana para recuperarte antes de Nochevieja, que de nuevo tienda a comenzar tras las 12 de la noche tras la tradición de comerse 12 uvas con las 12 campanadas que anuncian el Año Nuevo. Tras esto, como ya imaginas, es hora de salir de fiesta hasta la madrugada. La gran final del periodo festivo es el Día de Reyes. Un par de días antes los niños enviarán sus cartas a Sus Majestades pidiendo los regalos que desean, y el 5 de enero por la tarde comienzan las preciosas cabalgatas por las calles de los pueblos y ciudades, durante las cuales se lanzan literalmente toneladas de caramelos a los espectadores. El día 6 de enero tradicionalmente los niños abren sus regalos.

Christmas in Spain As November marches on our attention turns to Christmas and the fun and festivities that go with it. Whilst Christmas is celebrated widely in Spain the main focus is on the festival of Los Reyes Magos, or Three Kings which is held on January 6th, this means that the holiday period is a full fortnight. Beginning on Christmas Eve or Noche Buena most Spaniards will spend the first part of the evening with family enjoying a huge feast, often of fish and shellfish, but also just about everything else you can think, after which those who are still mobile will go out after midnight to party or visit friends. Christmas Day is a fairly quiet day with some children receiving gifts from Santa, whilst others have to wait for the Three Kings to bring their goodies. You then have about a week to recover before New Year’s Eve, or Nochevieja, which again tends to begin after midnight and following the tradition of the 12 grapes when the chimes of midnight are each accompanied with the eating of a grape. Following this, yes you guessed it, it’s party time until the early hours. The grand finale for the festive period is Three Kings. A couple of days before the children will have delivered their letters detailing the gifts they would like to receive, and on evening of the 5th January there are huge processions (read mobile riots) through the streets of every village, town and city, during which literally tons of sweets are hurled into the eager crowds. On the 6th the children traditionally open their presents.

¿CUÁLES SON LAS CONDICIONES HIPOTECARIAS PARA EXTRANJEROS QUE ADQUIERAN UNA VIVIENDA EN ESPAÑA? Sólo durante el pasado año se registraron más de 61.000 operaciones de compra de viviendas por parte de extranjeros en España, lo que representó el 13% de las operaciones realizadas, alcanzando un récord histórico en nuestro país. De acuerdo con las cifras de Anuario Inmobiliario del Colegio de Registradores de 2017, el 7% de las hipotecas concedidas para la compra de una vivienda se concedieron a extranjeros. Un total de 21.000 préstamos hipotecarios que, aunque no corresponda ni al 40% del total, deja entrever unas condiciones bastante atractivas para el capital extranjero. Una de las condiciones que más influye a la hora de conceder el préstamo hipotecario por parte de una entidad financiera española es el hecho de que este sea o no residente habitual en España.

Para los extranjeros con residencia habitual, las hipotecas serán de carácter ordinario, es decir, tendrán las mismas condiciones que las concedidas a ciudadanos españoles, siempre y cuando se cumplan una serie de requisitos: 1. Tener una cuenta en el banco con sede en España y en el que se vaya a contratar la hipoteca 2. La cuota de la futura hipoteca no debe superar el 30% de las cuotas de otras deudas existentes 3. No debe ser obligatorio, pero la portación de avales personales favorecerá las condiciones de financiación. En caso de tener otras propiedades en España también se valorarán las garantías inmobiliarias. No sucederá lo mismo si el inmueble se

encuentra en otro país, ya que estos no son activos que los bancos valoren especialmente debido a su inaccesibilidad. Las condiciones cambiarán si el comprador no acredita la residencia habitual en territorio español, sometiéndose a un tipo de interés mucho más elevado que los extranjeros residentes. El tipo fijo, el más habitual en estos casos, rondaría el 2’5% a 20 años y la financiación no podría superar el 60% del valor de la vivienda, frente a los 40 años y la financiación del 80% de la que se beneficiarían los extranjeros residentes. WHAT ARE THE MORTGAGE CONDITIONS FOR FOREIGNERS ACQUIRING A HOME IN SPAIN? Last year alone, more than 61,000 home purchase transactions by foreigners were recorded in Spain, 13 % of all home purchases, an all-time record in Spain. According to 2017 data from the Spanish Land Registry, 7 % of all mortgages to purchase a home were granted to foreigners, totalling 21,000 mortgages. This figure is not even 40 % of the total amount but indicates fairly attractive conditions for foreign capital investment. One of the most critical factors in the granting of a mortgage by a Spanish financial institution is whether, or not, the beneficiary is a resident in Spain. Foreigners ordinarily residing in Spain can apply for a standard mortgage, i.e., on similar terms and conditions as mortgages granted to Spanish citizens, if the following requirements are met: 1. You need to hold an account in the bank which is granting the mortgage, which needs to be headquartered in Spain. 2. The mortgage instalment must not exceed 30 % of the instalments of any existing debts. 3. Providing personal endorsements is not compulsory but will improve financing conditions. If you possess other properties in Spain, home warranties will also be valued. However, this is not the case when the property is located in another country, as these assets are not especially valued by banks, due to their inaccessibility. 4. These conditions will change if the buyer is not a resident in Spain, it would result in a much higher interest rate. The most common rate in these cases is a fixed rate around 2.5 % over a 20-year term, and the amount financed cannot exceed 60 % of the property value, as opposed to the 40-year term and a financed amount equivalent to 80 % of the property value offered to resident foreigners. celebran estas fiestas tradicionales, y tambien, con aquellos que independientemente de los motivos religiosos, aprovechan los momentos de la vida para la celebración. Considero que tambien, esta es una buena filosofía de vida, celebrarla a cada instante que se pueda. Lo que me lleva a recordar en

estos días tan señalados a amigos y vecinos que ya se fueron, que nos dejaron, muchos de los cuáles han marcado una huella importante en nuestra comunidad, y cuyo nombre nos viene a la mente sin necesidad de más mencion. La Navidad para mi es un tiempo de reflexion, un tiempo de toma de conciencia en todas aquellas áreas de la comunidad donde se vive carencia. No solo me vienen a la mente las personas menos afortunadas, que se encuentran en situación de sufrimiento, por necesidad física, o por exclusión social, sino tambien todas aquellas que viven de manera limitada porque han de ajustarse a recursos mínimos como las familias dependientes de una pensión o un sueldo base, que apenas llegan a cubrir las necesidades básicas de una vida digna Por todos ellos, reciban este mensaje tambien como un llamamiento a colaborar en la mejora de nuestra sociedad, pues estoy seguro de que todos podemos aportar o hacer algo por los demás, y aunque esto sea una voluntad que solemos manifestar mas durante la Navidad. At this time of year many of us celebrate for all kinds of reasons, some depending on our religious beliefs or outlook, some simply because it can be a sign of new beginnings and a fresh start. I personally take any excuse to celebrate through the year

because you never know what might be around the corner. Taking advantage of this opportunity, and besides all the festivities and christmas lunches, I like to spend time remembering those that have left us over the past year and beyond, this year including some big local personalities whose names I need not mention. Christmas for me is a time to remember, a time to reflect, and a time to think about those less fortunate than ourselves or the many elderly and not so elderly who are suffering from social exclusion for many reasons that range from mental issues through to the usual and most common the lack of gainful employment, a decent pension and income. I ask that all of you reading my Chistmas message take the time to do as many good deeds as you can, not just now because its Christmas, but because through the year people carry on suffering mostly in silence.

On Monday 15 October Duquesa Branch, one of the newest branches of The Royal British Legion launched the area’s Poppy Appeal 2018 at Heaven Bar in the Port of Duquesa. The venue is where the branch was ‘born’ and it was fitting to present the first ever Poppy Box to Damian Platt, owner of the bar and former Veteran of the Royal Green Jackets. The following week saw over 45 Poppy Appeal Boxes distributed to shops, bars and restaurants throughout Sotogrande, Pueblo Nuevo, Monte Duquesa, Casares del Sol, Duquesa Port and Sabinillas. For the Branch, the month of the Poppy Appeal culminated with Remembrance Services on Armistice Day at Sotogrande Church and Gibraltar. In Gibraltar, a wreath was laid on behalf of Duquesa Branch at the Gibraltar War Memorial by our Senior Founder Member Ray Casey, a Veteran of the Royal Engineers who served in the Suez Campaign 1956. Remembrance Sunday started with Breakfast at Heaven Bar before our journey to Gibraltar and the Parade / Service. In the afternoon we were entertained with a Buffet at Hemingways in the Port. The return of the Poppy Appeal Boxes started in earnest on Monday 12 November, being replaced by All Year Poppy Boxes. The contents will be properly accounted for and all donations paid into TRBL London. Final figures will be announced in the coming weeks but all premise owners will have received a card immediately on collection notifying them of their financial contributions for this year’s Appeal. The Chairman of Duquesa Branch, Kevin Blenkinsopp (formerly Royal Navy) and members would like to thank all who contributed with

Dates announced for the Pink Purple Zep Fest II In August 2017 Pink Purple Productions rocked Estepona’s Plaza de Toros with the first Pink Purple Zep Fest. It was a celebration of the music of three of the biggest names in rock history - Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, with three of the UK's top tribute acts doing the honours. The event was such a success that Pink Purple Productions have announced Pink Purple Zep Fest II Estepona Rocks, which will once again be held at the Estepona Bullring, in June 2019. In this second edition the festival has been expanded to a two-day event with Friday 28th featuring the Foo Fighters, Guns 'n' Roses and AC/DC tributes Foo Fighters GB, Guns 2 Roses and AC/BC. On Saturday 29th it will be a repeat of last year's lineup: Deeper Purple, Whole Lotta Led, and Think Floyd taking to the stage. The traditional Sabi Spartan Boxing Day Swim will once again take place at 1 pm on Wednesday 26 December in front of the statue in Sabinillas. All swimmers are welcome, and if you don’t fancy braving the waves then you can always help by sponsoring someone who is. Registration opens at 12.30 pm on the Paseo de Maritimo and is 5 euros per person which includes a glass

of mulled wine and a mince pie at Fathoms to warm up after the swim. Christmas is upon us once more and people the world over are getting ready for the celebrations that will take place. Age Concern Estepona and Manilva, will be joining in by running a stand at the Anglican Church Christmas Fair being held in the Palacio de Congresos, Estepona, on Saturday 15th December from 11.00 to 17.00. Come along and support Age Concern plus you will be able to enjoy carol singing (on the 15th December) and meeting old friends. We would like to give advance notice of a concert being arranged

by Age Concern at Padre Manuel Theatre, Estepona on Friday 22nd February 2019. Tickets will cost 10€. The programme is being finalised but will include a mixture of songs by the Three Divas supported by the local CantoLibre Coro. A great evening of good music is guaranteed. The Duquesa Charitable Society of St. George 2018 Children’s Gift Appeal has just been launched and the charity needs your donations to achieve their target to provide gifts for around 500 local underprivileged children this festive season. The St George charity is looking for donations of cash, which will then used to put together gift bags for underprivileged children aged from 3 to 16 years of age as identified by the local Social Services Departments in Manilva and Casares, and the Emaus Social Kitchen in Estepona. Last year the charity provided gift bags for around 490 children. Samaritans in Spain Samaritans is a charity established in the UK by Chad Varah in 1953. Since then it has grown exponentially and more recently, has spread overseas, including Spain. The Samaritans’ main function is to listen to anyone who is experiencing distress. Communication is mostly via telephone, free of charge. All listeners are trained volunteers who serve in rotas and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. How many hours or how often they offer their services (‘listen’) is up to the individual volunteer. Samaritans listen to people who are either lonely, or feel themselves unable to express their feelings, concerns, or problems to those around them. They do not ‘counsel’, but provide an empathetic ear. Volunteer listeners

are drawn from all backgrounds, all ages, and all walks of life. After initial training all new listeners are supported with mentoring. It is not only those who face life traumas, bereavement, or those burdened with guilt, who contact Samaritans. Anyone who feels the need for emotional support, encouragement and lacking confidence will benefit by talking to a Samaritan. A call to the Samaritans could last a few minutes or much longer, since callers are never rushed. The need for this type of help in the community is exemplified by the rapid expansion of Samaritans in Spain since its inception in September 2005. Increasingly, Samaritans in Spain not only require more volunteer listeners for its primary function, but also to

help in administration, publicity and other varied roles. With branches in Madrid, Denia and shortly on the Costa del Sol, Samaritans in Spain will be able to provide this service to most of Spain's English speaking community.

I was in a terrible state, but she was calm, understanding and, most importantly, seemed to genuinely care. “I poured my heart out to her and she gently suggested that I walk to the Samaritans Drop In Centre, where I would be safe and there’d be someone to talk to. “She stayed on the line while I did

this and, at the Centre, the tears really began to flow. She listened to what I had to say, and talking to her helped me work out what I could do. Moving on “Over the next few months, I slowly but surely began to put my life back together. Now, nearly three years on, I’ve got a whole new life.

Food Bank The Saint George Charity runs a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, and invites people to donate non-perishable goods, such as long life milk, pasta, rice, biscuits, tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, etc., along with toiletries, personal hygiene and cleaning items.

The charity will supplement these items with fresh produce, and will distribute on a weekly basis to a number of individuals and families that have been identified as being in urgent need of this service. Items can be donated at the St George Charity Shop in Calle Aurora Albornoz, Sabinillas, from 10 am to 1.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group In response to a tragic situation earlier in the year a number of local residents came together to form the BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group, a ‘befriending’ group to provide support, comfort and a point of contact for people facing a variety of challenges. The BuddyUp group is coordinated by Marguerite Wilkins, and already has a number of members signed up. Working closely with other local charities and organisations, including the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Citizens’ Advice, Cudeca, Social Services, etc., the group aims to provide support and advice for the elderly, disabled, those who have recently lost a partner, single parents, divorcees, the socially excluded, people that are new to the area, in fact anyone who might need someone to talk to or just pointing in the right direction.

BuddyUp volunteers work in pairs and have access to a wide range of resources to call upon depending on the needs of those they are assisting. Saint George Charity Shops The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona. In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; whilst the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds,

dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that fabulous bargain.

As well as stocking some great quality items the St George Charity shops also rent out various items such as wheelchairs, walking aids, travel cots, etc. The shop management welcome donations of quality secondhand items, and can arrange collection if needed. We are also looking for secondhand books, especially in languages other than English, to populate are extensive bookshelves. El coro de Sotogrande International School (SIS) garantiza la escolarización de niños en Uganda El coro de Sotogrande International School (SIS), va a marcar la diferencia esta Navidad gracias a su canción original “Whole Lotta People”, creada con la motivación de recaudar fondos para apoyar la educación de niños en Uganda. El coro, formado por 40 alumnos de edades comprendidas entre 11 y 17 años, tuvo la idea como parte de su apoyo continuo a la ONG, The Kindred Project. The Kindred Project es una organización sin ánimo de lucro dirigida por los propios alumnos de SIS, con el firme objetivo de fomentar y capacitar a sus alumnos para que utilicen la educación como fuerza de bien en el mundo. Como parte del programa de becas escolares, los alumnos de SIS becan a 58 niños en situación de vulnerabilidad en Uganda, y sensibles con esta realidad, el coro decidió dar un paso más. “¿Qué nos im-

pide pasar de 58 a 158 niños becados o incluso alcanzar los 1058?”. Son palabras de Laura Krier, profesora de voz y directora del coro. Con el lema de The Kindred Project, “Sé el cambio”, resonando en sus oídos, se preguntaron si su canción podría ser útil para dar un impulso a la recaudación de fondos y de esta manera conseguir que más niños pudieran asistir a la escuela. Decididos con esta nueva y optimista idea, los profesores de música se reunieron para el lanzamiento del nuevo single. Todo este recorrido nos ha traído hasta este punto y conseguir sus sueños. As part of the 'Send a Child to School' project, students at SIS already sponsor 58 children in vulnerable situations in Uganda, and the choir wanted to take this one step further. “What's stopping us from making this 152, or even 1052?” says voice teacher and choir director, Laura Krier. With The Kindred Project's motto, 'be the change', ringing in their ears, they wondered if their song could be used to help raise funds to send even more children to school. Quick to support a new and optimistic idea, the music teachers rallied around and helped to prepare the single for

Autumn is one of the times of year when depression is more frequent and intense, but this does not only affect humans; our pets also can become sad and apathetic, as confirmed by several experts. One of the most common reasons why we suffer from autumnal depression is it follows the summer vacation period with a return to the routine of daily life, an attitude that can be transmitted to our pets and bring them to slow down their activity level, letting their melancholic eyelids fall over their eyes, however, there is help for them too. Carolina Pinedo, environmental journalist and member of the NGO Defence Animal Rights Association (ADDA), explained to EFE Verde that depression is associated mainly to the change in routine that takes place after the summer holidays, “regardless that in autumn there is a time change and there is less daylight”. To Pinedo, “depression in pets, both dogs and cats, can be caused by many reasons but only the owner who knows their pet best, can tell whether the pet is experiencing a chronic, transitory, or seasonal depression”. It is the opinion of Miguel Ibanez, professor on the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and director of the Center

for Animal Behavioral Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), in a statement to EFE Verde that, “the causes of depression in any animal, including humans, is the result of a state of emotional distress and anxiety, to which there is no chance to react”. El mismo lugar donde vive una mascota, generalmente un piso, le proporciona una situación estresante de partida, ya que no suele disponer de las características especiales ni los medios suficientes para atender las necesidades naturales que pueda tener el animal. “Lo mismo que le podría ocurrir al ser humano que vive en un piso sin disponer de determinadas condiciones como son la socialización y la imposibilidad de trabajar en el exterior, o con una vida muy controlada como pueda ser en los penales, donde las posibilidades de ansiedad o depresión son muy altos porque falta una de las grandes necesidades: la relación social”, describe este experto. Los síntomas más evidentes que muestra un animal cuando sufre este problema son tristeza, reducción de su actividad habitual, incremento de la apatía y menor apetito..

The holiday season is fast approaching, with it lots of savoury delights, just as we need to take care in what we indulge in so should we be aware of what treats our four legged family members are feasting on as well! Be careful with overdoing the table scraps, there is a tendency to be generous with turkey skins, cracklings or other fatty cast off bits, they may lead to serious pancreatic problems. Meat, poultry, and fish bones are definite items to avoid. A carnivore is a meat eater not a bone eater; sooner or later their consumption will cause problems that could be fatal. Bones are definitely a bad idea and now there are substitutes, commercially available which will do no harm. Eating grass or other plant material may make them sick or could even be poisonous. Chocolate is poisonous. It has recently been pointed out that Poinsettias are poisonous to cats.

Las fiestas se acercan y con ellas habrá muchas tentaciones para regalar una mascota. Debemos ser conscientes de que tomamos la mejor decisión al regalar un animal a nuestros familiares. Una vez en casa se debe tener cuidado con las sobras de las comidas ya que hay una tendencia de ser generosos con los pellejos de pavo, cortezas de cerdo u otros restos grasientos, aquellos que pueden producir problemas digestivos o pancreáticos. Un carnívoro come carne y no es un huesívoro, o sea comedor de huesos, tarde o temprano producirá problemas que pueden tener un desenlace fatal. Los huesos no son buenos y ahora hay sustitutivos disponibles en tiendas que no causarán daños a nuestra mascota. Comiendo césped, hierba o plantas podría sentales mal. El chocolate es muy perjudicial para ellos. Además, recientemente se ha señalado que la flor de pascula también es venenosa para perros y gatos. Satisfacción para la “Casa de agua” water kiosk in Sabinillas de Sabinillas proves a great success

Uno de los objetivos de la “Casa del Agua” ubicada en Sabinillas Piazza Blas Infante es promover el uso del agua del acueducto, evitando así el uso de botellas de plástico. Reducir la contaminación de los plásticos es también uno de los objetivos de la Unión Europea para lograr un mundo “plastic free”, la propia Unión Europea recientemente decidió prohibir el plástico desechable para marzo de 2021. Con la instalación de la “Casa del Agua” se logran importantes resultados, entre los que se encuentran una menor producción de residuos, una reducción de los medios para su transposición, y por lo tanto menos producción de gases de escape. También hay un ahorro de alrededor de € 400 por familia por año. Los ciudadanos de Sabinillas se han mostrado satisfechos

con esta instalación que ofrece agua refrigerada natural y con gas, proveniente del acueducto municipal, además microfiltrada y cuya excelente calidad es controlada periódicamente por laboratorios químicos acreditados. Hasta ahora se han dispensado 23.799 litros, para lo cual se han guardado 15.866 botellas de plástico de 1,5 litros y se han evitado 714 kg de desechos de Pet, no se han liberado a la atmósfera 2.880 kg. de CO2 con la producción de botellas, mientras que los ciudadanos han ahorrado más de 4.000 euros en comparación con la compra de agua en botellas de 1,5 litros. El agua se paga con monedas desde 5 centavos hasta 2 euros, cortes aceptados también para recargar la tarjeta directamente a la casa de agua. Una vez que la botella se coloca en el

dispensador elegido (natural o con gas), simplemente presione el botón de cantidad deseada y la dispensación se detendrá por sí sola cuando se alcance la cantidad seleccionada. El agua se puede recoger las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana; con el uso de la tarjeta recargable el precio de compra es aún más ventajoso, 1 lt cuesta 9 centavos y 1.5 lt 13 centavos. Menopause Part 2 - Preparation for hysterectomy! Since the last time I wrote life has been very hectic, MRI Scans (oh my they are so noisy), blood tests, iron transfusion (to treat severe anaemia), gynecology, ECG and anesthetist checks, the list goes on and in total I have spent 31 hours at different hospitals having different things done. Not one single appointment has been on time, my ECG appointment was 3 hours late, and by the time I was seen my blood pressure was dangerously high! And this is private medical care! I now have 3 days until my operation, I’m taking arnica tablets to help reduce bruising and swelling, washing my skin all over with an anti-bacterial wash (to reduce infection). I’m staying away from anyone who is sick and eating really healthily (with the odd bit of chocolate), no alcohol, no garlic, and of course no smoking (I don’t anyway). My body is now very fatigued, I stopped lifting heavy weights six weeks ago, but now I have stopped all forms of training. My body needs me to stop! I feel as if I’m heavily pregnant and the baby’s head is engaged, the tumour weighs 3 k and it’s weighing heavily on my bladder, so stress incontinence is also an issue. All I’m waiting for now are the labour pains! Normally I am full of energy but at the moment I’m constantly tired and quite emotional, this

is all to do with the low levels of progesterone! I am taking a natural progesterone cream to help with this, but I’m not sure whether it is working or my body is just past this point at the moment. So, my surgery is a bit of the unknown, I’m not sure which way they will cut me, depending which way the tumour ends up lying, fingers crossed it’s across my c section line and not vertically (which means cutting through my abdominal wall) not good for someone who likes to lift heavy weights. The tumour is big, 3 kg in size and at its largest point 27 cm! Also, once they open me up, they are not sure what they are dealing with, is it cancer? That’s my main concern, followed by, is it attached to my bladder or bowel? None of these questions can be answered until the actual operation, the MRI wasn’t clear. So, depending on the actual procedure will determine my time in hospital. I can’t remember ever having to be still and not frantically on the go, So my down time is what is really stressing me. I love my job and I also love sweeping my floors, so knowing I can’t do either is going to challenge me. I am very lucky to be surrounded by so much love and positivity, even through my worst fears my

friends have kept me focused and strong, so I’m going into this operation well prepared and I hope I can help others in the future who face uncertain times. So, until my next blog which will be post-op, I would love to wish you all and very healthy happy Christmas.

Menopausia Parte 2 - ¡preparación para la histerectomía! Desde la última vez que os he escrito, mi vida ha sido muy agitada, con exploraciones de IRM (oh, son muy ruidosas), análisis de sangre, una transfusión de hierro (para tratar la anemia grave), ginecología, ECG y controles de anestesistas, y la lista continúa, en total he pasado 31 horas en diferentes hospitales haciendo de todo. Ni una sola cita se cumplió a tiempo, mi cita de ECG llegó 3 horas tarde y, cuando me vieron, ¡mi presión arterial estaba peligrosamente alta! ¡Y esto con atención médica privada! Ahora me quedan 3 días hasta mi operación, estoy tomando pastillas de árnica para ayudar a reducir los moretones y la hinchazón, lavándome toda la piel con un lavado antibacteriano (para reducir el peligro de infección). Me estoy alejando de cual-

quier persona que esté enferma y comiendo de manera saludable (con un poco de chocolate), sin alcohol, sin ajo y, por supuesto, sin fumar (no soy fumadora de todos modos). Mi cuerpo ahora está muy fatigado, dejé de levantar pesas pesadas hace seis semanas, pero ahora he dejado de entrenar completamente. ¡Mi cuerpo me exige descansar! Me siento como si estuviera embarazada y la cabeza del bebé estuviese en posición para dar a luz, el tumor pesa 3k y pesa mucho sobre mi vejiga, por lo que la incontinencia por estrés también es un problema. ¡Todo lo que me queda ahora son los dolores de parto! Normalmente estoy llena de energía, pero en este momento estoy constantemente cansada y muy emocional, ¡todo

esto tiene que ver con los bajos niveles de progesterona! Estoy tomando una crema de progesterona natural para ayudar con esto, pero no estoy segura si está funcionando o si mi cuerpo ha pasado el punto en el que ya no sirve en este momento. Por lo tanto, mi cirugía es un poco de lo desconocido, no estoy segura de cómo me cortarán, dependiendo de la forma en que el tumor termine acostado, estoy rezando para que corten sobre la cicatriz de mi sección cesárea y no verticalmente (lo que significaría cortar mi pared abdominal). Esto no es bueno para alguien a quien le gusta levantar pesas pesadas. El tumor es grande, tiene un peso de 3 kg y en su punto más grande mide 27 cm. Además, una vez que me abran, no están seguros de

con qué están lidiando, ¿es cáncer? Esa es mi principal preocupación, seguida de, ¿está adherida a mi vejiga o a mi intestino? Ninguna de estas preguntas pueden responderse hasta que tenga lugar la operación, la MRI no estaba clara. Entonces, dependiendo de cómo vaya el procedimiento, esto determinará mi tiempo en el hospital. No recuerdo haber tenido que estar quieta y no frenéticamente en movimiento, así que pensar en el tiempo de inactividad que me espera es lo que realmente me estresa. Amo mi trabajo y también amo barrer mis suelos, así que saber que no puedo hacer nada me va a desafiar. Tengo mucha suerte de estar rodeada de tanto amor y positividad, incluso a pesar de mis

peores temores, mis amigos me han mantenido concentrada y fuerte, por lo que estoy bien preparada para esta operación y espero poder ayudar a otros en el futuro que se enfrentan a tiempos inciertos. Campus de Baloncesto de Navidad El área de Deportes y el Club Deportivo Manilva Basket Base han organizado una nueva edición del “Campus de baloncesto de Navidad”. Según la delegación dirigida por Agustín Vargas, el campamento se desarrollará del 26 al 28 de diciembre y del 2 al 4 de enero próximos. Las actividades se desarrollarán en el Complejo deportivo de Las Viñas en Manilva y en horario de nueve de la mañana a dos de la tarde. Esta iniciativa está destinada a chicos y chicas de entre tres y dieciocho años de edad. Abiertas las inscripciones para el I Trail Manilva El 19 de enero se llevará a cabo el I Trail en Manilva organizado por la Delegación de Deportes y por el Club Senderista Los Kruos con la colaboración de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, Protección Civil, Club Ciclista de Manilva, Vendaval Sport y la Federación Andaluza de Atletismo. Los participantes han de saber que se llevarán a cabo dos recorridos. De esta manera, las personas que tengan 21 años cumplidos podrán inscribirse en la carrera larga que contará con

25 km con un desnivel acumulado de 1700 +/ - y quienes tengan 15 años cumplidos podrán realizar la corta que tendrá 12 km y un desnivel acumulado de 1100 +/ -. La salida se realizará a las diez y media de la mañana desde la puerta del Ayuntamiento de Manilva en calle Mar siendo la meta en el mismo lugar. Se admitirán un máximo de 400 corredores entre ambas carreras. La Organización se reserva 20 dorsales.
