En unos días las calles de los municipios de toda España estarán iluminadas con motivos navideños. El último viernes del mes se celebra esa jornada importada de Estados Unidos llamada ‘Black Friday’ y que es el arranque de la temporada de compras de cara a la navidad. Este año, la etapa prenavideña viene acompañada de una gran noticia: se va a crear empleo. En una economía todavía afectada por una crisis económica y en una zona como es la Costa del Sol occidental en la que todavía se lucha contra el cierre de infraestructura de servicios turísticos fuera de los meses de más afluencia turística, esta noticia es sinónimo de alegría y suspiro para muchas familias.

Se avecina por lo tanto una navidad que ya, antes de que empiece, trae regalo para algunas de las personas que están sin trabajo y que reforzarán plantillas de pequeñas, medianas y grandes empresas en las próximas semanas. Se anuncia, además, la apertura de restaurantes y otras empresas que, al finalizar el periodo estival (al menos en cuestión temporal porque en el clima aún dudamos que se haya ido) echaron el cierre temporal, por lo que también generarán empleo.

Y a ello hay que sumar el esfuerzo de los ayuntamientos por activar sus distintas bolsas de empleo en el ámbito municipal. Casares, Manilva y Estepona anuncian la creación de distintos puestos de trabajo, o lo que es lo mismo, que familias de estos municipios vuelvan a sonreir. Puede ser el espíritu prenavideño o que es cierto que el largo principio del final de la crisis está llegando. El tiempo dirá.

There is no escaping the fact that Christmas is approaching, what with the shops setting out there festive stock, and the Christmas illuminations beginning to go up in our towns and villages, and whilst most of us can look forward to indulging ourselves, there are of course those for which that is not an option. Whilst there are definite signs of a recovery in the economy, there are still many victims of what has been this century’s worst recession, and with these people in mind it is reassuring that there are several initiatives coming up to help alleviate their problems.

The final weekend of November sees the annual ‘Big Collection’ with many shops and supermarkets providing large containers in which you can donate non-perishable foodstuffs, toiletries, and milk, etc. So if you’re out shopping next Friday or Saturday, just add a couple of extra items to your basket and drop them in the container on the way out.

The Duquesa Charitable Society of St. George is also collecting donations of cash or gifts for their annual Children’s Gift Appeal.

Last year the charity provided over 350 gifts for needy children in Manilva and plan on doing the same this year. You can find more information on page 12.

Other initiatives include the ‘Desvan Solidaria’ Food and Clothing Bank in Casares, the brainchild of a young Casares woman, this continues to help the needy in that municipality.

Added to this are several job creation schemes organised by local councils, and offering full and part time contracts to the unemployed.

So whilst you enjoy yourself this festive season, just spare a thought, and maybe a few euros or a bag of rice to help those less fortunate.

El Ayuntamiento aumenta un 20% las inversiones y el gasto social en el presupuesto para 2015 Alcanza los 94 millones de euros y prevé un superavit de cerca de 5 millones de euros

E

l presupuesto del Ayuntamiento de Estepona para 2015 supera los 94 millones de euros, situando los gastos en 89 millones de euros y preveíendo un superávit de 4,8 millones de euros.

El concejal del área Económica, Manuel Aguilar, explicó durante la presentación de las cuentas municipales que se continúa con las actuaciones marcadas en los ejercicios anteriores: responsabilidad en la gestión económica con cuentas rigurosas y realistas, programa activo de inversiones generadoras de empleo, eliminación del gasto superfluo y reducción de impuestos.

Desde el ayuntamiento se destaca que el equipo de gobierno vuelve a apostar por las inversiones

productivas y el gasto social en el próximo ejercicio, donde estas partidas registran un aumento de un 20%. En concreto, se contempla la terminación y puesta en marcha de nuevos proyectos en la ciudad como fórmula de generar empleo y equipar la ciudad. El presupuesto cuenta con un total de 18 millones de euros para realizar inversiones en la ciudad. Entre estos trabajos se prevé el proyecto de renovación y embellecimiento del casco urbano, como foco de atracción turística; así como la conclusión de los proyectos del teatroauditorio de la Costa del Sol, el 'Pulmón Verde' y el corredor litoral. Asimismo, se contempla partida de un millón de euros para la propuesta realizada a la Junta de Andalucía de cofinanciar

el coste de la construcción del centro hospitalario prometido en 2007.

El compromiso con la política social se refleja en el documento económico con la duplicación de la partida destinada al Plan de Empleo Municipal, que alcanza el millón de euros; así como el incremento del dinero destinado a familias en situación de riesgo y emergencia (120.000 euros) y asociaciones sin ánimo de lucro que prestan ayuda a los más desfavorecidos (200.000 euros).

Estas medidas se combinan con la bajada generalizada, por cuarto año consecutivo, de impuestos a los ciudadanos, con la reducción del IBI que alcanza ya el 15% en el actual mandato y la rebaja o bonificación en más de una veintena de tasas y precios.

stepona’s budget for 2015 exceeds 94 million euros, representing costs of 89 million euros and leaving an anticipated surplus of some 4.8 million euros, according to a statement by Councillor Manuel Aguilar during a presentation of the municipal accounts, which continues to follow the performance of previous years with accountability in economic management, rigorous and realistic accounting, an active investment in job creation, cuts in unnecessary expenditure and tax cuts.

The local government continues to fund productive investment and

social spending in the coming year with a 20% increase in this area.

In particular the completion and commissioning of new projects in the municipality as a means of generating employment and providing valuable infrastructure is part of the plan.

The budget allocates a total of 18 million euros for investment in the Town including renovation and beautification works, underlining Estepona as a tourist attraction, the completion of the new Theatre, the Green Lung and Botanical Park, the Coastal Corridor, as well as a million euros pledged to the regional government towards the

cost of the hospital promised by the Junta back in 2007.

The commitment to social policies is reflected in the allocation of resources to the Municipal Employment Plan of one million euros; increased money for families at risk and emergency funding of 120,000 euros, and contributions to non-profit organizations that provide assistance to the most disadvantaged of 200,000 euros.

These measures are combined with the general decline for the fourth consecutive year of local taxes, reducing IBI by 15% in the current term and rebates or subsidies on over twenty taxes and rates.

La comunidad británica de la Costa del Sol se cita en Estepona en ‘The British Information Day’

Fermín Cacho apadrina la pista de atletismo del Parque Ferial y Deportivo de Estepona

El campeón olímpico asistirá este sábado al acto El evento contó con representantes institucionales, abogados, Guardia de homenaje y participará junto a aficionados al Civil y Policía Nacional atletismo en un recorrido por este circuito El atleta olímpico Fermín Cacho ha apadrinado la pista de atletismo del nuevo Parque Ferial, Deportivo y de Ocio Permanente de Estepona.

El atleta medalla de oro en 1.500 metros en Barcelona ´92 mantiene importantes vínculos con la localidad, a la que defendió en la candidatura para ser Ciudad Europea para el Deporte en 2013.

El reconocimiento a Fermín Cacho se suma al que se le brindó el pasado mes de agosto al Campeón del Tour de Francia, Perico Delgado, cuando se le

dedicó el circuito de ciclismo en este mismo enclave.

Esta infraestructura, de siete hectáreas de superficie, aglutina a un total de 23 pistas deportivas para la práctica de ejercicio al aire libre, durante todo el año, de manera gratuita. La ejecución de este equipamiento multifuncional, llevado a cabo por la empresa Grupo OV, supuso en 2013 una inversión municipal de 4,1 millones de euros, pasando a ser la mayor obra pública ejecutada en la provincia durante el citado ejercicio.

l Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Estepona albergó la semana la actividad 'The British Information Day”, organizada por el Consulado de Reino Unido en colaboración con la delegación municipal de Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Estepona, y dirigida a la comunidad de británicos que reside en la Costa del Sol. Se trata de una jornada destinada a facilitar información a personas de esta nacionalidad para que puedan conocer de mano de profesionales ciertos

asuntos prioritarios a la hora de residir en nuestro país.

El evento contó con la asistencia del alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, la vicecónsul Rosslyn Crotty y la concejala de Turismo, Marina Segovia.

El primer edil informó sobre la campaña de empadronamiento puesta en marcha por el Ayuntamiento y que ha conseguido llegar a los 70.000 censados; así como de los nuevos servicios puestos a disposición de los extranjeros, entre ellos, la

Oficina de Atención al Turista Extranjero.

En la jornada participó también un representante de la Guardia Civil para informar sobre accidentes e infracciones, y un responsable del Cuerpo Nacional de Policía para abordar materias relacionadas con robos, agresiones y delitos. La actividad se completó con la intervención de un abogado sobre distintas leyes de interés para este colectivo.

stepona’s Palacio de Congresos was the venue for the recent ‘British Information Day’ organised by the British Consulate in collaboration with Estepona’s Foreign Residents Department, which focussed on the British Community living on the Costa del Sol. The object of the event was to provide information of particular interest to this section of the community with talks from different professionals on a number of topics.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, the Vice Consul Rosslyn Crotty and the Councillor for Tourism and Extranjeros, Marina Segovia.

In the opening address, the Mayor reported on the voter registration campaign launched by the local council which has managed to raise the number of registered inhabitants to 70,000; the new services available to foreigners, including the Foreign Tourist

Assistance Office.

The programme also included a representative of the Civil Guard discussing the reporting of accidents and crimes, a National Police officer talking about matters related to robberies, assaults, and crimes, along with a talk about internet safety and cyber crime.

The seminar was completed by a lawyer discussing a number of laws of particular relevance to this group.

The Olympic champion will attend the tribute event this saturday and will take part in a lap around the circuit alongside other amateur athletes Olympic athlete Fermin Cacho will give his name to the new athletics track at Estepona’s new permanent Sports Park and Fairground.

The 1500m gold medal athlete in Barcelona '92 has important links to the town, he also argued in it’s favour in the bid to be European City of Sport 2013.

This homage to Fermín Cacho adds to the one paid to Tour de France champion Perico Delgado in August when the cycling track

was dedicated to him.

This seven hectare infrastructure encompasses a total of 23 outdoor sports facilities, which will be available for use year round, for free. The development of this multifunctional equipment, carried out by the OV Group, represents a municipal investment of 4.1 million euros in 2013, making it the largest public development in the province that year.

l Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha organizado para Semana Blanca, del 22 al 25 de febrero, un viaje a Sierra Nevada para practicar esquí.

El viaje está organizado por la delegación de Juventud y ofrece la posibilidad de disfrutar de la nieve y los deportes de invierno a un precio asequible. El coste de esta actividad es de 350 euros de los que se entregarán 50 euros para la reserva y el resto podrá abonarse en tres plazos.

El viaje incluye 3 noches de alojamientos en apartamentos situados en el centro de Sierra

Nevada en régimen de media pensión, 3 días de forfait, 3 días de alquiler de material y 3 días de días con dos horas de clase cada

uno con un monitor cualificado.

stepona Town Hall has organized a trip to Sierra Nevada for skiing during Semana Blanca from 22 to 25 February 2015 The trip is organized by the Youth Department and offers the chance

to enjoy the snow and winter sports at an affordable price. The cost of this activity is 350 euros with 50 euros to be paid on reservation and the remainder paid in three installments.

The trip includes 3 nights’

accommodation in apartments in central Sierra Nevada, half board, 3-day lift pass, 3-day equipment rental and 3 days with two hours of class on each day with a qualified instructor. The tour also includes insurance and travel by coach.

Estepona alcanzó en septiembre los mejores datos de ocupación hotelera de la última década El municipio de Estepona ha registrado este año el mejor septiembre de la última década en cuanto a datos de ocupación hotelera, según los datos facilitados por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).

La concejala adscrita al área de Turismo, Marina Segovia, explicaba que el pasado mes de septiembre se alcanzó un 67,88 por ciento el grado de ocupación de las habitaciones de establecimientos hosteleros de Estepona, “por lo que podemos afirmar que la temporada alta cada vez se prolonga más en

nuestro municipio”.

La edil indicaba que el Consistorio continuará impulsando proyectos para que la ciudad resulte cada vez más “atractiva” desde el punto de vista turístico, y ha señalado que iniciativas como la remodelación integral del casco antiguo, el teatro-auditorio de la Costa del Sol, el corredor litoral, o la Ruta de Murales Artísticos, “son algunos de los nuevos alicientes por los que conseguiremos más visitas en el futuro”.

Para seguir mejorando estas cifras, Estepona ha estado

presente en el stand que el Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol ha tenido en la World Travel Market (WTM) de Londres, la feria de turismo más importante del mundo.

El mercado británico se ha convertido en uno de los principales emisores de turistas a la Costa del Sol con casi 1,9 millones de euros en lo que va de año, registrándose una subida del 33 por ciento en el presupuesto del visitante británico, que llega a gastar una media de 1.070 euros en sus vacaciones.

El pleno del Ayuntamiento de Estepona aprobó la modificación de la ordenanza que regula el uso y disfrute de las playas para que 'La Morocha' se convierta en la primera playa canina de Estepona. La concejala del área de Gestión de Recursos, Pilar Fernández-Fígares, explicó que el Ayuntamiento habilitará una superficie de 10.000 metros cuadrados para que los animales puedan pasear y jugar en el litoral o bañarse en el mar.

Fernández-Fígares indicó que este espacio, que se ubicará entre las playas de 'El Padrón' y 'El Castor', dará respuesta a una reivindicación realizada por centenares de vecinos, que reclamaban un espacio donde los perros pudiesen disfrutar de una playa durante todo el año.

La responsable municipal

comentó que para acondicionar una playa canina se requieren los permisos de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Ordenación del Territorio y recordó que los trámites se iniciaron el pasado mes de junio. Entre las exigencias que deben cumplirse se encuentra que las ordenanzas que regulan el uso de las playas contemplen la creación de estos espacios, algo que hasta ahora no se reflejaba.

La elección de esta playa es una continuación de la política que, en esta misma línea, está realizando el ayuntamiento.

En este sentido, el pasado mes de septiembre entró en funcionamiento el primer parque canino del municipio, que con con una superficie de 2.200 metros cuadrados, se sitúa junto al parque de Los Niños.

“Creemos que podemos alcanzar los 75.000 habitantes dentro de unos dos años” Recientemente Estepona ha alcanzado los 70.000 habitantes. ¿Qué supone esta cifra para el municipio?

La cifra 70.000 habitantes, en sí, no supone nada. El reto y el cambio real en legislación e impuestos aplicados será cuando seamos ‘Gran Ciudad’, es decir a partir de 75.000 habitantes.

Pero el objetivo real es alcanzar las 100.000 personas que, calculamos viven todo el año en Estepona, estén empadronados. ¿Cuándo estimáis que se pueden alcanzar estos 75.000 habitantes inscritos?

Desde el padrón municipal se calcula que, con el actual ritmo de crecimiento, podremos alcanzar los 75.000 empadronados dentro de unos dos años. Desde que iniciamos la campaña se está creciendo a buen ritmo, de hecho, hemos duplicado el ritmo con respecto a los que se está marcando en el conjunto de la Costa del Sol. Mientras que, de media, se crece al 1%, en

Estepona lo hacemos al 2-2,5%.

Los extranjeros temen que el estar empadronados les provoque algún perjuicio. ¿Es así?

No les va a causar problemas a ningún nivel, es más, puede obtener ventajas. Si acaso, los únicos impuestos que deben pagar son el IBI, que además si están empadronados tienen un descuento desde el 20%. Todo lo contrario, tendrán beneficios como todos los que les puede dar la ciudad (basura, la seguridad, la iluminación…) Además hay descuentos para usar servicios municipales como los centros deportivos. ¿Qué deben hacer los extranjeros que, además de estar empadronados, quieran votar en las próximas elecciones municipales?

El derecho al voto deben solicitarlo los extranjeros, y en este caso antes del 30 de diciembre.

Además, los comunitarios deben

renovar su empadronamiento cada cinco años, mientras que los no comunitarios tienen que hacerlo cada dos años. Nosotros le ayudamos en todo lo que necesiten. ¿Qué proporción de extranjeros hay en Estepona?

Durante todo el año hay 100.000 habitantes en Estepona, de ellos hay un tercio que son nacidos en Estepona, otro tercio españoles nacidos fuera de la localidad y otro tercio son extranjeros. ¿Qué funciones desarrolla el Departamento de Extranjeros de Estepona?

Además de asesorar a los extranjeros en todo lo que necesiten, por ejemplo en el empadronamiento o en el derecho a voto, este departamento organiza jornadas como las celebradas recientemente con el Consulado del Reino Unido, foros trimestrales, reuniones con las asociaciones… manteniendo siempre un contacto directo con ellos.

Estepona has recently reached 70,000 registered inhabitants.

What does this figure mean to the municipality?

The figure of 70,000 in itself means nothing. We will see actual change

in legislation and funding when we are classified as a 'Big Town', ie over 75,000 inhabitants. But the real goal is to reach the figure of 100,000 people, the real number that we calculate live all year round in Estepona.

When do you anticipate reaching that figure of 75,000 on the register?

According to the municipal census, and at the current rate of growth, we should reach the figure of 75,000 in about two years. Since we

began our campaign the registered population is growing at double the rate of the rest of the Costa del Sol where it increases on average at a rate of 1% here in Estepona we see 2 to 2.5% growth.

Many foreigners fear that being registered is a disadvantage. Is that so?

It presents no disadvantages, on the contrary there are many benefits. The only taxes you pay to the council are your IBI payments, and if you are registered you are eligible for discounts from 20%.

There are also discounts for using municipal services, such as sports centres, cultural activities, etc. You also benefit from improvements to refuse services, security, lighting, etc., for which the municipality will receive increased state funding.

What should foreigners do, besides registering on the Padron, if they want to vote in the forthcoming municipal elections?

If you haven’t done so already,

you must apply for the right to vote before 30 December. EU members need to do so every five years, whilst non-EU residents need to do so every two years. We are available to help you in this process if you need it.

What are percentage of foreigners resident in Estepona?

We calculate that all year round there are 100,000 inhabitants in Estepona, of which a third are Estepona born; another third are Spanish from elsewhere in Spain; whilst the remaining third are foreigners.

What function does Estepona’s Foreigners Department perform?

In addition to advising foreigners on everything they need such as registration, or voting, the department organises conferences such as those recently held with the British Consulate, quarterly forums, meetings with local associations with which we maintain direct contact.

En concreto, la Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona dota a profesionales y desempleados de conocimientos imprescindibles para el desempeño de trabajos vinculados con este sector y, por

tanto, contribuye a la inserción laboral de los participantes y al reciclaje de trabajadores.

El acuerdo alcanzado permite además a este centro de formación usar las instalaciones de restauración de las que dispone el Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Estepona para el desarrollo de la actividad docente.

Estepona Town Band presents a concert to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of local composer Manuel Navarro Mollor

stepona’s Cultural Department presents a concert by the Estepona Town Band, commemorating the life and music of the local composer Manuel Navarro Mollor on the first anniversary of his death.

The concert will be held at in the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre in Estepona on Saturday 6 December from 8 pm.

Under the baton of conductor, José Antonio López Camacho, the band will perform some of the best known and well loved of Manuel Navarro Mollor’s works, many of which were written during his 35 years as director of the Estepona Town Band.

The evening will be presented by Radio TV Estepona presenter, JuanMa Herrera, and entry is free.

José Fernández, quien realizó en la ciudad de Estepona el mural vertical más grande de España, ha sido el autor del último mural que embellece la ciudad de Estepona. Se trata de una obra pionera porque integra el arbolado natural de la calle en la pintura que se ha ejecutando en dos fachadas de la barriada Plaza Fuerzas Armadas.

El mural 'Regando el Jardín' ocupa una superficie de más de 240 metros cuadrados y recrea con estilo realista a una niña que juega en un jardín y que riega con una manguera el árbol que está plantado en la calle. Con este “juego visual” se pretende simbolizar “el deseo de que las generaciones futuras aprendan a respetar y cuidar la naturaleza”,

al tiempo que el espectador podrá disfrutar al distanciarse de la fachada de una obra “original” por la combinación de elementos pictóricos y reales.

La obra consta de dos partes que se han realizado en sendas fachadas. En un bloque aparece la niña regando el árbol y en en el otro el grifo y la manguera de donde procede el agua.

'Regando el Jardín' se convierte en la obra número 22 de la 'Ruta de Murales Artísticos', que el Ayuntamiento está ejecutando en las diferentes barriadas del municipio con intención de acercar la cultura a los vecinos, y de poner en valor estos enclaves residenciales mediante esta expresión de arte urbano.

Estepona’s 22nd mural is completed The latest mural in Estepona’s programme of amenity art installations nears completion. The 22nd in the series features a visual trick of the image of a girl watering a real tree which is growing in the street next to the wall in the Fuerzas Armadas estate, on which the mural is painted.

The mural is the work of the artist José Fernández, who was also responsible for the 'Día de Pesca' work in the town, which is Spain’s largest such mural in Spain.

Over the coming weeks and months there will be a number of other such works, added to the existing ‘Mural Route’.

give out, through collaboration with the local social services department and the help of all our volunteers and supporters, a total

Las ayudas al IBI del Ayuntamiento de Casares alcanzan los 154.805 euros

Un total de 1455 familias se han beneficiado de estas subvenciones tras el nuevo plazo abierto por la modificación de la ordenanza municipal El Ayuntamiento de Casares hace un balance definitivo de las ayudas al Impuesto de Bienes Inmuebles, de las que se han beneficiado un total de 1.455 familias, que han supuesto un ahorro medio de 106 euros en cada recibo.

Las ayudas, por un 20% del coste del recibo del IBI (hasta un máximo de 200 euros), están destinadas a propietarios de viviendas, negocios o garajes, que no tuvieran deudas con el Ayuntamiento y tuviesen domiciliado el pago del recibo del IBI. El concejal de Comercio, Juan Jesús Rodríguez, ha explicado que se trata de subvenciones con las que el ayuntamiento trata de dar un pequeño respiro a las familias, principalmente a las que tiene menos recursos, al tiempo que se bonifica al pequeño y mediano empresario.

La medida ha supuesto un esfuerzo municipal tasado en 154.805,47 euros, lo que según Rodríguez, no irá en detrimento de los servicios municipales que continúan prestando de la misma

forma, incorporando, incluso, las mejoras que se añaden cada año.

Juan Jesús Rodríguez añade que esta bajada impositiva ha sido aún mayor, ya que los vecinos también se han beneficiado de una reducción del valor catastral de sus viviendas del 15%, lo que ha supuesto nuevas ventajas para los propietarios. Esta circunstancia se ha visto reflejada no solo en una reducción de la factura del IBI, sino también en los costes de las operaciones de compra-venta.

Se trata de una medida correctora solicitada por el ayuntamiento a la Dirección General del Catastro, mientras se realiza la revisión catastral que vienen reclamando el equipo de gobierno de Casares para adaptar a la realidad el valor de las viviendas.

El concejal de Comercio realiza el balance de las subvenciones del IBI después de que el Ayuntamiento de Casares abriera el plazo para acogerse a las mismas por segunda vez el pasado mes, tras la publicación en el Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de la modificación

de la Ordenanza aprobada en pleno el pasado mes de junio.

Esta modificación ha supuesto que se puedan conceder estas subvenciones a muchos vecinos que quedaron fuera en la anterior convocatoria por causas

subsanables, como que las deudas de anteriores propietarios que graven la vivienda no sean impedimento para poder acceder a esta bonificación.

Un total de 315 propietarios se han podido beneficiar de

estas subvenciones tras lo modificación. Todos ellos recibirán en las próximas semanas, en sus cuentas bancarias, el montante de estas ayudas, una vez que ya han abonado sus recibos del IBI.

Casares prepara el calendario de actividades navideñas para las próximas fiestas Un mercadillo solidario y un Belén viviente primeros actos confirmados Como cada año en víspera de Navidad la magia hace que, por unas horas, el pueblo de Casares se convierta en el de Belén con una gran ambientación en cuanto a decorado, iluminación y actores en la que colaboran cerca de 200 vecinos, de forma particular, a través de instituciones y asociaciones.

Se trata de una gran representación que desde las 18.30 horas del viernes, 19 de diciembre, llenará las calles de Casares (Plaza del Llano), y que este año viene cargada de novedades.

El espectáculo cuenta con la participación de un buen

número de asociaciones entre las que destaca el alumnado de las escuelas municipales de

Baile y Teatro que realizarán espectáculos y escenas navideñas teatralizadas.

El Secadero celebra su Fiesta Solidaria el domingo 14 de diciembre El 14 de diciembre es una jornada muy especial para los vecinos de Casares, en concreto para los de El Secadero. Se trata de un día lleno de actividades. Entre ellas el tradicional Mercadillo Solidario que destinará todos los beneficios a Médicos Sin Fronteras, al tratamiento oncológico de una vecina de San Enrique, al Desván Solidario y al pueblo Saharaui.

La fiesta se celebra desde las 12 del mediodía en la carpa instalada en el recinto ferial de El Secadero a la que se accederá con el pago de una entrada, al precio simbólico de 1 euro para niños y 2 euros para adultos.

Las actividades comenzarán a las 12 del mediodía con la tradicional

tómbola con cuantiosos regalos, una barra solidaria que servirá comida casera para el almuerzo, y una tradicional merienda a base de tortas fritas. Todo ello se acompañará de talleres infantiles, castillo hinchable, una mini tómbola con grandes regalos, puestos de venta de dulces navideños y artículos artesanales.

Además, habrá un amplio programa de animaciones, actividades infantiles, espectáculos de la Escuela Municipal de Baile, cante flamenco y actuación de la Escuela de Música de Tatiana Gavira, y un gran número de actuaciones que se extenderán durante toda la jornada.

El Secadero celebrates Fundraising Party on Sunday 14 December December 14 is a very special day for the residents of Casares, particularly for those in El Secadero.

All this will be accompanied by workshops for children, bouncy castle, a mini raffle with great gifts, stalls selling Christmas cakes and handmade items.

There will also be an extensive program of entertainment, children's activities, a dance spectacular by the Municipal School of Dance, flamenco songs and performance by the Tatiana Gaviria School of Music, and many other performances spread throughout the day.

Following the latest default by Vallejo Aplicaciones S.L, the company awarded the contract to construct the Rio Manilva pedestrian bridge connecting Sabinillas and Casares Costa, the local authorities are urging the Plan Qualifica Consortium to cancel the contract and award it to another contractor.

The Mayor of Casares, Antonia Morera, has expressed her displeasure over the situation caused by the company, and despite being at no fault in the matter, have apologised to local residents for yet further delays in the completion of this long awaited and important piece of

infrastructure.

Antonia Morera also pointed out that the termination of the contract would have serious financial repercussions for the contractor, as the council holds a bond of 10% of the value of the contract, and the company have already made advance payments for the prefabrication of the bridge.

Following a number of extensions to the agreed completion date, the final extension ran out on Saturday 15 November, and on Monday morning the Casares authorities began to prepare a report for the Qualifica Consortium to cancel the contract and re-allocate the works.

In a meeting with the council last week representatives of Vallejo Aplicaciones S.L blamed financial difficulties for the delay and are hoping to install the bridge before the contract is terminated permanently.

The project has a budget of 131,182 euros which is funded by the Qualifica Plan for tourism infrastructure.

nte el nuevo incumplimiento del plazo de la empresa concesionaria de las obras del puente sobre el Río Manilva, Vallejo Aplicaciones S.L., el Ayuntamiento de Casares ha instado al Consorcio Qualifica a iniciar los trámites para rescindir el contrato con la misma y volver a adjudicar la instalación de esta pasarela peatonal.

La alcaldesa de la localidad, Antonia Morera, ha mostrado su malestar por la situación ocasionada por esta empresa.

Y aunque se trata de causas ajenas a la gestión municipal, ha aprovechado la ocasión para pedir disculpas a los vecinos que verán de nuevo postergada la instalación de esta infraestructura que vienen

siendo tan demandada.

Antonia Morera ha matizado que la rescisión del contrato ocasionaría importantes pérdidas para la empresa, pues el Ayuntamiento cuenta con una aval del 10% del presupuesto de adjudicación y la empresa dice haber adelantado parte del coste de los trabajos a la carpintería encargada de la pasarela.

El pasado sábado 15 de noviembre finalizaba la última prórroga otorgada por el Consistorio a la empresa, y el lunes por la mañana los técnicos municipales comenzaban a redactar un informe para que el Consorcio del Plan Qualifica pueda derogar el contrato con la concesionaria y volver a adjudicar las obras.

Desde la empresa, en una reunión

mantenida la semana pasada con responsables municipales, achacaron el retraso a problemas financieros y anunciaron que instalarán la pasarela antes de que se rescinda el contrato definitivamente.

Las obras de este puente peatonal que unirá la costa de Casares con la de Sabinillas tienen un coste de 131.182,96 euros, están promovidas por el Ayuntamiento de Casares y financiadas por el Plan Qualifica.

El Banco Municipal de Alimentos ‘Desván Solidario’ se suma a la Gran Recogida de Alimentos Se celebra en Casares los días 27 y 28 de noviembre de 2014 con puntos de recogida de un kilo de alimento o bien un producto de aseo e higiene personal en los tres núcleos del municipio El Desván Solidario trabaja en la preparación en el municipio de la ‘Gran Recogida de Alimentos’, una campaña que se celebra en todo el territorio nacional .

Para ello se van a establecer diferentes puntos de recogidas de alimentos en todo el municipio los días 27 y 28 de noviembre para recoger la mayor cantidad de alimentos posibles, y productos de primera necesidad, como los de aseo e higiene personal, con el objetivo de repartirlo a las personas que más lo necesitan.

Bajo el lema “El hambre no se ve”, la campaña tiene como objeto concienciar a la población sobre la realidad del hambre y la situación crítica por la que pasan muchas familias sin que nos enteremos, explica Paula López del Desván Solidario La Gran Recogida se adelanta en Casares un día, celebrándose el jueves y viernes, 27 y 28 de noviembre, para hacerla coincidir con días laborales.

La segunda fase de la adecuación de la zona verde de Majestic avanza a buen ritmo y ya está prácticamente lista la zona de minigolf. Unas instalaciones que venían reclamando los vecinos.

La nueva zona de recreo, ejecutada por el Ayuntamiento de Casares con la contratación de personal de la bolsa de empleo, va a suponer una ampliación de los Jardines del Rosario dotándolo de nuevas instalaciones deportivas.

Facilities that residents of the area had been asking to be developed.

The new recreational area, realized by the Casares town hall through a contractor hired from the local employment exchange, will see the Jardines del Rosario extended and fitted with new sports facilities.

Casares Costa, also explained that the new golf area is the first of several facilities including a multipurpose sports court, another for baseball and two petanque courts.

The project will now continue with the creation of a dog park where residents can play and train their pets. There will also be pathways throughout the area, as well as picnic tables, benches and other outdoor furniture.

Nueve estudiantes casareños reciben este curso las becas de transporte

Casares se prepara para su II Festival de Nuevo Cine Andaluz

Desde el pasado mes de agosto la organización del Festival Nuevo Cine El Ayuntamiento de Casares ofrece estas ayudas Andaluz de Casares trabaja para celebrar la segunda edición, que tendrá a estudiantes de Bachillerato, Formación lugar del 8 al 13 de junio de 2015 Profesional y Escuela Oficial matriculados en La organización del Festival las proyecciones con una sesión Ayuntamiento de Casares, y a centros que no se hagan cargo del transporte Nuevo Cine Andaluz de Casares paralela a la oficial, hacer un empresas de las zonas cercanas,

Finalizado el plazo de presentación de solicitudes un total de nueve estudiantes (seis de Casares y tres de El Secadero) van a recibir durante este curso las becas de transporte del Ayuntamiento de Casares.

Estas ayudas están destinadas a estudiantes de Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Escuela Oficial de Idiomas, matriculados en los centros educativos en los que otras administraciones se hagan cargo del transporte, y cuyas rentas familiares no superen 2,5 veces el IPREM

(Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples).

Las becas de la Concejalía de Educación del Ayuntamiento de Casares se conceden a cada estudiante en función del aprovechamiento de los estudios que realice el solicitante, por lo que se tendrán en cuenta las calificaciones de cada trimestre para determinar cuánto le corresponde a cada estudiante.

Para ello los admitidos deberán entregar a final de cada trimestre sus calificaciones en el ayuntamiento.

Para esta edición se quiere trabajar con un presupuesto mayor, por lo que además de al

These new developments include the greater involvement of local residents, with children’s workshops, the inclusion on the organisation committee of representatives from the Town Hall along with local publicist David Garcia Ahumada, and director of the Municipal Theatre School, Santiago Ruiz Vicente.

Some parallel activities were proposed, to run alongside the official projection programme, including a tribute to the Andalucian filmmaker José Val del Omar or the 110th anniversary of his birth, and

an express short film contest to be held outside of the festival week.

The subject of funding was brought up, with an agreement to work with a bigger budget, and to this end in addition to funding from the Town Hall, and local business, it was agreed to apply for grants from other institutions as well as the regional and provincial governments.

Finally the committee created a second working group involving those who will support the event with specific activities during the Festival week.

El sábado 6 de diciembre desde las 10:30 h de la mañana hasta las 17:00 h de la tarde el club de Vecinos y Amigos de Marina de Casares celebrará su cuarta feria navideña y mercadillo sobremesas en las oficinas de la alcaldía de Marina de Casares, autorizado amablemente por el Ayuntamiento de Casares.

Friends and Neighbours of Marina de Casares On Saturday December the 6th at 10.30 am to 5 pm the Vecinos y Amigos de Marina de Casares club will hold its 4th annual Christmas Fayre and Table Top sale at the Marina de Casares Council Offices by kind permission of the Town Hall of Casares.

The tables will be laden with reasonably priced new and nearly new items for sale that could make useful gifts for you, your family or friends. There are a few tables for hire at 10€ for the day. Mulled wine, tea, coffee and cakes will be also be available.

Other club activities include quiz nights once

a month, table and card games once a week, entertainment rehearsals in preparation for a revue in the new year, painting and handicraft workshops, Spanish and English lessons, golf twice weekly.

The Club will also be having a “Ladies Lunch” to inaugurate the new monthly luncheon club. The Christmas lunch is mid December to celebrate the end of a very successful social year.

Diego Urieta elegido nuevo alcalde de Manilva Sustituye a Antonia Muñoz, quien dejó el cargo semanas atrás por “motivos familiares”

os cambios en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva que se han sucedido durante las últimas semanas tuvieron punto y final el pasado 8 de noviembre, cuando el concejal Diego Urieta, fue nombrado alcalde de Mayor. Se ponía así punto y final a una sucesión de hechos que comenzaba cuando, de forma sorprendente el 17 de octubre la que fuese alcaldesa de Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, comparecía ante los medios de comunicación para anunciar su dimisión como alcaldesa, puesto que ocupaba de forma ininterrumpida en una segunda etapa desde el año 2007. La ex regidora anunciaba su renuncia al cargo aludiendo a “motivos familiares”.

Tras presentarse la renuncia de Muñoz, su puesto lo ocupó de forma provisional el primer teniente de alcalde, Emilio López Berenguer, quien fue sustituido definitivamente por Diego Urieta, quien recibió el apoyo de la mayoría de ediles de la corporación manilveña.

total normalidad. Ante una sala repleta de familiares, amigos y compañeros, Urieta tomaba la palabra ya como primer edil destacando dos valores en el que basará su política; trabajo y honradez.

Proseguía su discurso apelando a las infinitas posibilidades que ofrece el municipio y la responsabilidad de todos de seguir haciéndolo crecer de

manera responsable.

Diego Urieta cerraba la sesión tendiendo la mano a todas las instituciones, partidos, empresarios y ciudadanos para trabajar por Manilva.

Además de la elección del nuevo alcalde, en el mismo pleno tomo posesión de acta, el nuevo concejal Manuel Chaves, quien ocupó la vacante dejada por Antonia Muñoz

Abierto el plazo para solicitar la bonificación del IBI La bajada en el pago del IBI del pasado ejercicio fue notable basándose en la bonificación del 20% para el buen contribuyente y la rebaja del tipo impositivo del Impuesto de Bienes e Inmuebles, del 0,9 al 0,7. A esto había que sumarle que, aquellos vecinos que tuvieron domiciliado este recibo, tuvieron un descuento del 3%.

Por todo ello y según ha informado el concejal de Hacienda, Marcos Ruiz: "estamos muy satisfechos de haber aliviado el bolsillo a cientos de familias del municipio que se han visto beneficiadas por esta iniciativa municipal", apuntó.

Cabe recordar que según los datos, poniendo de ejemplo un recibo del IBI del 2013, había que pagar 300,42 €. En el año 2014 y gracias a la labor municipal, el recibo del Impuesto de bienes inmuebles era de 256,62 € una vez aplicada la bajada general.

Manilva

Si a esta rebaja del tipo impositivo para todos los vecinos sumamos la bonificación por parte de Diputación (30,99€) y la ayuda municipal al empadronamiento y domiciliación (51,32 €) el recibo final para este año ha sido de 174,31 €.

Es decir, de pagar en el año 2013, la cantidad de 300,42 € se ha pasado a tener la posibilidad de abonar un recibo en el presente año de 174,31 €.

Sin el esfuerzo municipal y sin la posibilidad de solicitar la ayuda y beneficiarse de las bonificaciones, en el año 2014 el recibo para todos los manilveños hubiera sido de 329,94 €.

Cabe recordar que para optar a estas bonificaciones del IBI al buen contribuyente deberán tener como requisitos, estar empadronadas en el término, al corriente de pago con los tributos municipales y con el recibo de IBI domiciliado.

Todos los interesados que quieran solicitar la ayuda pueden hacerlo desde hoy mismo hasta finales de diciembre en la segunda planta del Ayuntamiento de Manilva.

Como nota importante, informar que la ayuda municipal al buen contribuyente hay que volver a solicitarla haya sido concedida o no.

En la página web municipal: www.manilva.es podrán imprimir las solicitudes del IBI 2015 tanto para locales como para viviendas. El documento está en la barra superior, en el apartado, "documentos".

Las solicitudes hay que presentarlas por registro de entrada, bien en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva o en la tenencia de alcaldía de Sabinillas.

This was the final act of a series of events which began on October 17 with the surprise announcement to the media by, the then Mayor, Antonia Muñoz, that she would be stepping down as Mayoress, a position she has held continuously since 2007. Muñoz announced that she would be stepping down from government, citing “family matters” as the reason.

Following the resignation the Deputy Mayor, Emilio López Berenguer, was appointed ‘caretaker’ Mayor, who was then finally replaced by Diego Urieta who received the support of the majority of the members of Manilva’s governing council.

The investiture, which was chaired

by Emilio López Berenguer, went without drama, and faced with a room full of family, friends, and fellow workers Urieta took the floor and as the new mayor highlighted two values on which he will proceed: hard work and honesty.

Continuing his inaugural speech he pointed out the infinite possibilities available to the people of Manilva and the responsibility of everyone to work to achieve those possibilities.

Diego Urieta closed the session with an appeal for collaboration from all businesses, political parties, institutions and residents to work for the good of the municipality.

In addition to Urieta’s election, the session also welcomed the new councillor Manual Chaves who takes up the seat on council vacated by Antonia Muñoz.

Deadline to apply for IBI discount announced The lowering of property tax payment last year was significant based on a 20% bonus and the reduction of income from real estate tax rate from 0.9 to 0.7.

Added to this those persons who paid through their bank had a 3% discount.

According to past data, using as an example the IBI of 2013, one had to pay 300.42€. In 2014, thanks to municipal work, property tax due was € 256.62 after applying the overall decrease.

With lower tax rates for everyone and an added bonus from the council of ( € 30.99) and municipal support of (€ 51.32) the final payment for this year was € 174.31.

So going from paying the amount of € 300.42 in 2013, to paying a bill in this year of € 174.31.

Without great effort at municipal level and without the opportunity of seeking aid and the benefit of bonuses in 2014, the IBI payment

for all Manilveños would been €329.94.

Remember to qualify for these IBI bonuses you must be registered on the empadron (town hall register), and having paid up-to-date all municipal taxes and IBI payments being made through the bank.

All those interested in requesting these bonuses may do so from today until the end of December on the second floor of the Council offices in Manilva.

Anyone having applied for this municipal help before is required to do so again this year whether or not they were accepted in the past.

El alcalde de Manilva se reúne con los cuerpos de Seguridad Ciudadana El encuentro reunió, entre otros, a miembros de la Policía Local, Guardia Civil y Bomberos En sus primeros días como alcalde, Diego Urieta está realizando una ronda de conversaciones y reuniones con todas las áreas del Ayuntamiento de Manilva y en este caso, con los miembros de los distintos cuerpos de Seguridad Ciudadana, área que compete directamente a sus responsabilidades.

En la mesa de trabajo estuvieron presentes los máximos responsables de la Policía Local de Manilva, de la Guardia Civil, Protección Civil y Bomberos.

Urieta considera fundamental que el término municipal de Manilva esté protegido, cuidado y atendido por estos profesionales. Así, cree que la coordinación es fundamental para que los ciudadanos tengan en ellos una referencia para cualquier tipo de circunstancias en

las que tengan que intervenir.

La reunión, en la que se destacó la predisposición absoluta tanto de los citados cuerpos como del propio ayuntamiento, transcurrió basándose en una puesta en común sobre actuaciones, eventos próximos y sobre todo, la necesidad de hacerlas periódicas y que el primer edil esté informado de todo lo necesario para seguir mejorando.

Diego Urieta concluyó esta reunión manifestando que “la sociedad manilveña es responsable, cívica y tolerante y eso ayuda a que los cuerpos de seguridad ciudadana puedan trabajar con la cooperación de nuestros vecinos. Por ello, entre todos, seguiremos en la misma línea de trabajo ofreciendo una calidad de vida basada en la seguridad”.

Sensaciones positivas, conozco bastante bien la estructura del ayuntamiento.

Era una cuestión que estaba más o menos establecida entre nosotros y sabíamos el nuevo papel que me tocaba y desde hace algún tiempo tenía algunas responsabilidades de alcaldía, aunque no directamente.

Queremos que nos readmitan y podamos constituirnos en la formación. ¿Qué mensaje le lanza a los extranjeros que viven en Manilva?

Para mi va a ser fundamental potenciar y articular núcleos urbanos y urbanizaciones. En Manilva no hay ciudadanos de primera ni de segunda. En un municipio donde conviven más de 60 nacionalidades y el 45% de la población es extranjera, no trabajar en este sentido sería una falta de respeto para aquellos que han elegido Manilva para vivir. Desde 2009 ostento la Delegación de Extranjeros, y desde entonces se ha visto el apoyo institucional y social a los extranjeros por parte del Ayuntamiento.

¿Cómo calificaría las circunstancias en las que ha accedido a la alcaldía?

Ni mejor ni peor que otras. Está claro que las circunstancias idóneas es presentarse a unas elecciones y ganarlas. En este caso ha sido por otras circunstancias, la alcaldesa ha atendido al interés del pueblo por encima de sus circunstancias personales por lo que estoy muy agradecido a Antonia. Además estoy contento porque, a excepción de un grupo político que votó en contra, hemos tenido sólo un grupo político en contra. Entiendo que la abstención de Partido Popular es un voto de calidad. ¿Qué destacaría de la gestión de Antonia Muñoz como alcaldesa?

Es una persona con un carácter increíble y no deja indiferente a nadie. No todo lo que se ha informado sobre Manilva es verdad ni mucho menos. Manilva ha experimentado un cambio muy importante desde 2007, nos encontramos un ayuntamiento en bancarrota, incluso al borde del abismo con la Seguridad Social y Hacienda. Sin embargo, en estos últimos años ha sido un ejemplo de cómo se debe gestionar una administración. Nos

hemos convertidos en un ayuntamiento muy creíble de cara a administraciones y solvente de cara a las inversiones. ¿Cuál es el futuro de Diego Urieta como alcalde?

Diego Urieta no está aquí para ser alcalde seis meses, y este proyecto nace con continuidad. Estaré encantado de ser alcalde si me eligen. La prioridad pasa por potenciar lo mucho y bueno que

se ha hecho en los últimos años. Voy a trabajar por dotar de estabilidad política al ayuntamiento, tender la mano a todas las personas físicas o jurídicas que puedan ayudarnos, tenemos que anteponer el interés público a intereses partidistas. ¿Ese futuro pasa por ir, de nuevo, integrado en Izquierda Unida?

Sabemos que tenemos una población de 25.000-27000 habitantes durante todo el año y una población registrada de 15.400 habitantes, y los beneficios fiscales del ayuntamiento se hacen en función de esa cifra. Tenemos que superar los 20.000 empadronados.

They have been positive, I know the structure of the council very well, and it was more or less established for some time that I would be taking on the responsibilities as Mayor, although not guaranteed.

What was significant about Antonia Muñoz’s time as Mayor?

She is a person of incredible character which leaves no one untouched, and not everything you hear or read about Manilva is true. Manilva has undergone a major change since 2007, when it was a municipality on the verge of bankruptcy with huge debts with the Social Security and Tax authorities. However in recent years we have seen an example

of how to run a government. Manilva has been transformed into a credible and solvent administration investing in the municipality’s future.

How do you see the future of Diego Urieta as Mayor?

I don’t plan on just being here for the remaining six months, my aim being for continuity and ideally re-election next May. The priority is to promote the achievements of the past years, and I will work with the council to provide political stability, reaching out to all those willing to help us, and to put public interest ahead of party politics.

Does the future see a return to Izquierda Unida?

We will try to resume contact with the Izquierda Unida (United Left) party. I hope that, thanks to the new circumstances, we can sit down with the Party and seek a solution that could lead to readmission.

What message would you like to send to Manilva’s foreign residents?

For me it is essential to unite the urbanisations and the urban population centres. In Manilva no one should feel they are a second class citizen. In a municipality with over 60 nationalities, and foreigners who have chosen Manilva as their home representing 45% of the population, to do nothing in this direction would be disrespectful. The Foreigners Department will continue to provide official and social

support to Manilva’s foreign residents.

Are you running a campaign to register new voters?

We have already held meetings with the British Consulate, and we expect to receive the Consul in Manilva in the coming weeks to underline the campaign to make residents aware of the benefits of being registered.

The truth is there is evidence that some 70% of foreign residents are not registered.

We know that the population of of Manilva is somewhere between 25,000 and 27,000 inhabitants throughout the year, but there is a registered population of just 15,400 and our funding is based on that lower figure. We are hoping to reach a figure of over 20,000 on the register.

Manuel Chaves López appointed as Manilva’s new councillor for Foreign Residents and Sports Manuel Chaves López, became the new councillor in Manilva, following the resignation of Antonia Muñoz as mayor of Manilva, which has led to a change around in the governing body at the Town Hall. Manuel Chavez is now the new councillor for Foreign Residents, Sports and Civic Participation. At 35 years old, he is a qualified PE teacher and has a good command of the English language and is no stranger to working in the Town Hall.

In 2010 he was an Area Director in the Foreign Residents department and was involved with the organising of some of the first day trips around Andalucia. There will be no major changes in this department but would like to develop more participation by foreign residents in local sports and to promote further the local football teams.

Inaugura las nuevas pistas de skate en Sabinillas New skate park opened

El nuevo espacio deportivo tiene 900 metros cuadrados Los jóvenes del municipio ya tienen una nueva pista de skate en Sabinillas. El equipo de gobierno con su alcalde, Diego Urieta, a la cabeza, realizó el acto protocolario de inauguración.

El primer edil siempre ha estado muy relacionado con la Juventud y el Deporte, y mostró su satisfacción por poder ofrecer un espacio saludable, en el que se puede practicar una nueva disciplina deportiva y sobre todo, la puesta en valor de la zona, ya que era un descampado y se ha convertido en uno de los lugares más destacados de Sabinillas.

Se trata de un espacio de 881,20 metros cuadrados en la que prima el deporte. Está situado en la zona de Maicandil donde existe una amplia zona verde, con una área plana con solera de hormigón, formado por dos rectángulos unidos.

Entre los elementos que se han colocado destaca un half pipe, un quarter pipe, un spin, un grindbox o un rail de suelo entre otros.

En relación con su concejalía, Mario Jiménez, edil de Deportes, se mostró satisfecho de poder ampliar la oferta a la juventud y que puedan disfrutar de esta espectacular disciplina tan practicada en el municipio.

Teniendo en cuenta también las quejas de algunos vecinos por el hecho de estar siendo practicado el skate en el paseo marítimo

y en zonas donde molestaba a la ciudadanía, el lugar elegido ha sido detrás del cuartel de la Guardia Civil de Sabinillas, donde se ubica una zona verde, el carril bici y un gimnasio biosaludable.

Con esto se consigue, según comentó el edil de Juventud, Marcos Ruiz, "por una parte, que los jóvenes tengan su espacio y no molesten a nadie ya que estará regulado con horarios y por otra, que el acceso sea cómodo ya que podrán ir en bicicleta o dando un paseo", apuntó.

Manilva’s youngsters now have a dedicated area where they can enjoy their skateboards and scooters without causing a nuisance to local residents.

The 900 square metre facility is fitted with a number of elements including a half pipe, quarter pipe, spin, grindbox, ground rail amongst other disciplines.

The skatepark is situated in the green zone just behind the Guardia Civil barracks, and by the start of the new cycle track.

An official inauguration ceremony on Thursday, 13 November, was attended by a number of councillors including the Mayor, Diego Urieta, along with dozens of local skate enthusiasts.

Councillor for Sports, Mario Jiménez, stated that he was pleased that they’d been able to create this new facility, adding to the sporting opportunities for Manilva’s youngsters.

Marcos Ruiz, head of Manilva’s Youth Department, added that it was important the kids had somewhere to practice their skating whilst at the same time respecting the neighbours and keeping to the park’s opening hours.

Recientemente se ha vivido unos días inolvidables para el Club Ciclista Manilva, un conjunto que no deja de crecer desde su creación.

Alejandro Granados y Fernando González se proclamaron campeones de Málaga en la penúltima prueba del circuito provincial BTT Maratón, celebrada en Coín. Con este

resultado, a falta de una prueba para el final del campeonato, los dos miembros del Club Ciclista Manilva son ya campeones de manera matemática.

En categoría élite, a Alejandro Granados le valía con un cuarto puesto en Coín para alcanzar su objetivo y consiguió acabar en la tercera posición. El vencedor de la prueba fue el cinco veces campeón de España José Márquez.

En categoría sub-23, Fernando González hizo un segundo puesto y al entrar por delante de su máximo rival por el título, por lo que también se llevó el gato al agua.

La última prueba, ya intrascendente para ambos, tendrá lugar en la localidad de Nerja. Será sin duda, el broche de oro de una temporada inolvidable para el Club Ciclista Manilva.

The Manilva Cycling Club at the top of the Malaga provincial circuit Cycling continues to bring success to the local sports scene in Manilva. The Manilva Cycling Club has enjoyed a few memorable days recently, a club which has been growing steadily since it’s formation.

Alejandro Granados and Fernando González were crowned champions of Málaga in the penultimate round of the provincial MTB Marathon circuit, held in Coin. With this result, even though there is still one final round left to complete, the two members of the Manilva Cycling Club are mathematically already winners.

La delegación de Desarrollo Local que dirige Diego Díaz ha tramitado, a través del técnico, José Carlos Castaño 18 solicitudes correspondientes a emprendedores de pequeñas y medianas empresas de nueva creación o que necesitan renovar las estructuras propias.

De estas solicitudes, han sido aceptadas 13, a cuyos responsables se les ha solicitado la documentación definitiva para ser trasladadas y presentadas en la Diputación Provincial de Málaga para que valoren definitivamente

la cuantía que se les otorgará.

En el caso de que cumplan todos los requisitos exigidos y tengan una serie de características podrían obtener una subvención de 2.500 euros por empresario.

Diego Díaz se mostró satisfecho por el alto porcentaje de solicitudes aceptadas y por contribuir a través de la delegación de Derechos Sociales del citado órgano supramunicipal, a que estos empresarios puedan comenzar una nueva andadura o afianzar sus empresas en la localidad.

El ayuntamiento muestra su apoyo a los empresarios locales El alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta participó junto a responsables del Consorcio Qualifica en una charla informativa con los empresarios del término municipal para establecer las bases de colaboración futura, ayudando a este sector a descubrir las nuevas tecnologías y a darse a conocer en la Costa.

Para ello se realizó este primer encuentro de dinamización de los Clubs de Productos Turísticos de la Costa del Sol Occidental a través del Consorcio Qualifica.

Manilva ha sido el primer municipio donde han presentado esta iniciativa para estimular el comercio local y la industria hostelera, frente a negocios locales y asociaciones de empresarios locales.

El encuentro, presidido por el

primer edil manilveño tuvo como asistentes a Miguel Ángel Báez, gerente del Consorcio Qualifica; Patricia Iglesias, coordinadora de proyectos de la Confederación de Empresarios de Málaga; Antonio Guevara, catedrático y decano de la Escuela de Turismo de la Universidad de Málaga; y Karine Jamet, gestora SICTED Costa del Sol Occidental.

Los empresarios locales pudieron conocer un programa de potenciación de productos emergentes en la Costa del Sol Occidental. En el mismo se ha venido trabajando con unas 75 empresas, gracias a las cuales se han constituido cinco clubes de producto con experiencias para su comercialización. En este sentido, desde el Consorcio Qualifica, en colaboración con todos los ayuntamientos,

se propone difundir las características de dicho programa y dar acceso al mismo a todas las empresas turísticas de la Costa del Sol Occidental que lo soliciten y se adecuen al mismo.

Cualquier empresa relacionada a la hostelería y turismo puede añadir el perfil de su empresa en la red de los Clubs de Productos, beneficiarse de su red de comercialización, de realizar networking y de dar a conocer Manilva a través de sus productos.

Diego Urieta agradeció la colaboración del equipo de Qualifica, y destacó, por encima de todo, “la integración de los negocios locales a esta iniciativa animándolos a informarse sobre los beneficios de este proyecto”.

Tourism Product ‘Club’ launched by the Qualifica Consortium in Manilva Town Hall committed to helping local business

Te recordamos que como ciudadano de Manilva has de empadronarte en la ciudad en que vives o trabajas, así como comunicar los cambios de domicilio que lleves a cabo.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha iniciado una campaña informativa para que los ciudadanos se empadronen en el municipio, lo que les reportará “importantes beneficios”, según el concejal de Estadísticas, Marcos Ruiz. El edil recordó que los ciudadanos que se empadronen en el municipio podrán optar a ayudas en impuestos públicos como el IBI, así como inscribirse en cursos, talleres y actividades municipales. También podrán matricular a sus hijos en los colegios públicos, obtener certificados de residencia, seguridad social o ayudas económicas y sociales.

Estar empadronado también da derecho a votar en periodos electorales, optar a ayudas por desempleo, darse de alta como autónomo o formalizar matrimonios civiles.

Además, tienes que recordar que en función de los que estemos empadronados, así recibiremos recursos económicos de Diputación y del Estado. Tu presencia sí es importante para todos; de ello dependen nuestras escuelas, centros de salud, carreteras, hospitales, juzgados, y un largo etc.

Los interesados en darse de alta en el Padrón Municipal deberán dirigirse a las oficinas situadas en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva o en la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Sabinillas.

Según los últimos datos municipales, de los 14.800 habitantes de Manilva, algo más de 6.700 son extranjeros, de los que casi 3.000 son británicos. La mayoría figuran como residentes, puesto que el empadronamiento no implica perder derechos en el país de origen.

Padron registration campaign The Mayor of Manilva, Diego Urieta, took part alongside representatives of the Qualifica Consortium in a discussion with local businesses to establish the grounds of a future collaboration, helping this sector to utilise new technologies to promote their products on the Costa del Sol. That is why a meeting was held to establish the Tourism Product Clubs on the Western Costa del Sol with the help of the Qualifica Consortium.

Manilva was the first town where this presentation was made to stimulate local commerce and the tourism industry, with local businesses and associations.

At the meeting, presided by Diego Urieta, also present were, Miguel

Ángel Báez, manager of Consorcio Qualifica, Patricia Iglesias: Project Coordinator of the Malaga Business Confederation, Antonio Guevara: Dean of the Tourism School at the Malaga University and Karine Jamet: Manager of SICTED Costa del Sol Occidental.

The local businesses were presented with a number of new promotion products, with some 75 companies already involved, with five clubs already created.

The Qualifica Consortium along with local town halls will help local businesses to use them effectively and promote the Western Costa del Sol. Any company related to tourism can promote their product on the network of Product Clubs, with

its great marketing strategy and networking, helping to introduce Manilva tourism related businesses to promote their products and services to new areas.

The Manilva Town Hall would like to remind residents that they are required to register on the Padron of the municipality in which they reside, and to report any change of address.

To this end the Councillor for Statistics, Marcos Ruiz, has initiated an information campaign not only to stress your responsibilities but also the significant benefits of registration.

These benefits include discounts for IBI, as well as elegibility for local classes, workshops and other municipal activities.

Registrationsallows residents to enroll their children in local schools, obtain certificates of residence, social security and social or economic aid. Being registered also entitles you to vote in local and European elections, obtain unemployment benefits, register as self-employed or get married.

It should also be considered that the size of the registered population governs the amount of economic resources allocated by the State, including schools, health centres, etc.

La zona del Lidl contará con una pasarela peatonal Desde hace algunos años, el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Mario Jiménez, está luchando por conseguir que se oiga a los vecinos del municipio y que se haga realidad la colocación de una pasarela que cruce la carretera del Lidl al edificio de la ONCE. Las conversaciones con el Ministerio de Fomento han sido muchas y la insistencia del citado edil por mejorar el tránsito de las personas que quieran cruzar la carretera sin peligro alguno.

Una vez realizados los trámites burocráticos, las obras comenzarán en unos meses para tenerlas finalizada antes de comenzar el verano.

Town Hall to foot the bill for footbridge between Lidl and La Noria For many years Manilva’s Councillor for Infrastructure and Works, Mario Jimenez, has repeated his demands to the Provincial Highways Department for a footbridge spanning the N340 between Lidl and La Noria.

Citing the need for people to be able to cross this busy road without danger, the councillor pointed out that many people needed to cross the road to reach the supermarket, the fair and other activities a the fairground, as well as the weekly Sunday market.

Following these repeated petitions the local council has finally received

the relevant authorisation to build the bridge.

The next step, according to Manilva’s Mayor, Diego Urieta, is to put the contract out to tender for the works which will be funded from the Town Hall coffers.

Senderismo por la Serranía de Ronda La delegación de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Manilva, que dirige Emilio López, ha informado que el próximo domingo 30 de noviembre se celebrará una nueva ruta de senderismo dentro del Programa de Dinamización Otoño 2014.

En esta ocasión los participantes harán la ruta El Burgo-Ronda, con una distancia de 22,5 kilómetros de recorrido lineal y dificultad media/alta por lo que los participantes deberán ser mayores de 14 años.

La condición física de los mismos deberá ser la apropiada a las distancias y dificultades de los recorridos a realizar pudieron denegarse el acceso a las mismas, por consideraciones técnicas de la propia organización.

El plazo de reservas o solicitudes

permanecerá abierto hasta el miércoles previo a la realización de cada ruta.

El horario de salida será a las ocho de la mañana y el Área de Medio Ambiente dispondrá autobuses para trasladar a los participantes y el precio de la inscripción será de 5 €, que serán ingresados en el número de cuenta que aparece en pantalla.

Hike to the Serrania de Ronda Manilva’s Environment Department, directed by Emilio López, is organising a hike from El Burgo to Ronda on Sunday 30 November.

The El Burgo - Ronda hike is some 22.5 kms and is classed as of medium to high difficulty and is open to walkers over the age of 14 years and with the appropriate level of fitness for such a hike.

Theatre trip to see Pinocchio in Malaga Manilva's Cultural Department is organising a trip to Malaga's Echegaray Theatre to see the theatrical performance of the children's classic Pinocchio.

Under the direction of Gustavo Tambascio, with music by Bruno Tambascio, the production has a large cast and combines theatre and circus, with actors, dancers and

acrobats, with plenty of opportunity for audience participation.

Manilva y su fútbol Son muchos años los que lleva Manilva ligado al mundo del fútbol. Todavía se recuerda por muchas personas, la ilusión y pasión que ya desataba este deporte, en unos años, en los cuales las condiciones eran muy distintas a las de hoy, camisas con botones, botas sin tacos, balones durísimos, terreno de juego sin dimensiones reglamentarias, a veces desnivelados, a veces recién segados o incluso de arena, sin vestuarios, sin banquillos, sin iluminación artificial, etc., nada de esto era un inconveniente para los jóvenes y no tan jóvenes, que se desvivían por jugar y disfrutar con el fútbol.

Por aquellos entonces, hablamos de a finales de los años 50 y década de los 60, se jugaban partidos contra equipos de la comarca, aunque todos eran de carácter “amistoso”, la rivalidad que existía entre el equipo de Manilva y el de Sabinillas, hacía que el enfrentamiento entre ambos, fuese un evento único dentro de nuestro municipio. Así fueron los comienzos del fútbol puramente aficionado en Manilva, donde durante más de una década y media se competía con una ilusión enorme, moviendo por aquellos entonces, una ya considerable masa de aficionados.

A mediados de los años 70, el mundo del fútbol en Manilva iba a experimentar un cambio decisivo, con la federación de dos equipos en el municipio. En el año 1975, se

fundó el Club Deportivo Sabinillas, y un año más tarde, hizo lo propio, el Manilva Club de Fútbol. Estos dos equipos, fueron durante casi una veintena de años, la referencia deportiva del municipio, llegando a competir de forma oficial en las categorías de 2ª y 1ª Regional, así como en Regional Preferente.

En 1994, la unión de estos dos equipos dio lugar al nacimiento del Club Unión Deportiva Manilva Sabinillas, el cual, compitió ininterrumpidamente durante 14 años, y lo hizo en las categorías de Regional Preferente y 1ª Andaluza, llegando incluso a militar durante tres temporadas en 3ª División.

Con la desaparición del Club Unión Deportiva Manilva Sabinillas en 2008, concluye la que sin duda ha sido la etapa más importante del fútbol manilveño.

Football in Manilva Manilva has been involved in the world of football for many years.

Many people still remember the enthusiasm and passion brought out by the sport, throughout years in which the circumstances were very different from today’s game, shirts with buttons, boots with no studs, rock solid balls, fields with no regulated dimensions, often uneven, sometimes freshly mowed or even on sand, no changing rooms, no benches, no artificial lighting, etc., none of this was a problem for the young and not so young, who played and had a love for football.

At the time, we’re talking about the late 50s and 60s, matches were played against other regional teams, although all were of a "friendly" nature, the rivalry between the Manilva and Sabinillas teams made the confrontation between the two a unique event in our town. Such were the beginnings of purely amateur football in Manilva, where enthusiasts have competed

for over a decade and a half with enormous enthusiasm, amassing a considerable number of fans from then on.

In the mid 70s, the world of football in Manilva would experience a turning point, with the federation of two teams in the town. In 1975 the Club Deportivo Sabinillas was formed, and a year later the Manilva Football Club appeared as well. These two teams were, for almost twenty years, the point of reference for sports in the municipality, officially competing in the 2nd and 1st Regional divisions as well as Regional Preferente.

In 1994, these two teams came together to form the Club Unión Deportiva Manilva Sabinillas, which competed continuously for 14 years, and made it into the 1st Andalucian division and the Regional Preferente, even managing to achieve three seasons in 3rd Division. With the disappearance of Club Unión Deportiva Manilva Sabinillas in

NOVEDADES EN MATERIA SUCESORIA REGLAMENTO EUROPEO Nº650/201 En los últimos meses un gran número de personas nos han contactado preocupados por la nueva normativa sobre sucesiones transfronterizas, propuesta por la Comisión Europea y aprobada recientemente por los Estados miembros de la UE bajo la forma de Reglamento Europeo n° 650/201.

Decir que ésta entró en vigor en el año 2012, aunque empezará a aplicarse sólo a aquellas sucesiones que tengan lugar a partir del 17 de agosto de 2015.

La principal razón de éste no es otro que el de suprimir los obstáculos a la libre circulación de aquellas personas que actualmente encuentran dificultades a la hora de ejercer sus derechos en situaciones de sucesión mortis causa con repercusiones transfronterizas.

Y es que más de 450.000 familias europeas que cada año se enfrentan a una sucesión internacional, lo que hace que este nuevo reglamento tenga una gran relevancia.

Entre las novedades que el Reglamento 650/2012 introduce destacaremos los siguientes puntos: Ley aplicable, jurisdicción aplicable y Certificado Sucesorio Europeo.

LEY APLICABLE A LA SUCESIÓN En el actual sistema recogido en el Código Civil español (art. 9.8) se determina que la ley aplicable a la

sucesión es la ley de la nacionalidad del causante en el momento de su fallecimiento. Con este nuevo Reglamento, con carácter general será de aplicación la ley del estado en el que el causante tenga su residencia habitual en el momento del fallecimiento.

A esta norma con carácter general le seguirían dos excepciones: Si, de forma excepcional, resultase claramente de todas las circunstancias del caso que, en el momento del fallecimiento, el causante mantenía un vínculo manifiestamente más estrecho con un Estado distinto del Estado donde tuviese su última residencia, la ley aplicable a la sucesión será la de ese otro Estado.

Una tercera vía que la este Reglamento plantea es la posibilidad de que la persona pueda elegir cuál será la ley aplicable del Estado cuya nacionalidad posesa en el momento de su fallecimiento.

En este último caso, la elección deberá hacerse expresamente en forma de disposición mortis causa, (testamento) o habrá de resultar de los términos de una disposición de ese tipo.

En resumen, la sucesión de cualquier extranjero residente en España, se regiría por la legislación española, a menos que éste haya declarado en testamento u otro documento

público lo contrario. Si éste no mencionase nada en el testamento, se aplicarán a los residentes en España, las legítimas y demás normas españolas, de ahí la importancia de otorgar testamento y de dejar por escrito cuál quiere que sea la ley que rija su sucesión.

JURISDICCION APLICABLE Como regla general se dice que serán los tribunales del Estado miembro en el que el causante tuviera su residencia habitual en el momento del fallecimiento, el que tenga competencia para resolver sobre la totalidad de la sucesión, salvo que las partes interesadas acuerden lo contrario. Es éste caso, las partes interesadas podrán acordar que un tribunal o los tribunales de dicho Estado miembro tengan competencia exclusiva para sustanciar cualquier causa en materia de sucesiones.

CERTIFICADO SUCESORIO EUROPEO Otro de los aspectos a tratar en este nuevo Reglamento es el que tiene que ver con los Certificados Europeos en materia de Sucesiones.

Este nuevo certificado se expedirá para ser utilizado por los herederos, legatarios que tengan derechos directos en la herencia y ejecutores testamentarios o administradores de la herencia, constituyendo un título válido para la inscripción de la adquisición hereditaria en el registro competente de un Estado miembro. Éste surtirá sus efectos en todos los Estados miembros sin necesidad de ningún procedimiento especial.

Si usted no tiene testamento o el que tiene no respeta la ley española y está redactado según la ley de su nacionalidad, debe asegurarse que en el testamento que firmó en su día se menciona expresamente que quiere que su sucesión rija por su ley nacional y no por la de su última residencia.

De lo contario, le recomendamos que otorguen testamento y así evitar problemas futuros.

Por lo tanto, les recomendamos que no dejen su sucesión al azar: asesórense y acudan a un experto para planificar su sucesión. NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN EUROPEAN INHERITANCE REGULATIONS 650/201 In recent months numerous of people have contacted us concerned about the new regulations on cross-border successions, proposed by the European Commission, and recently approved by the Member countries of the EU in the form of European Regulation n ° 650/201. Although it came in to force in 2012, it will not be applicable until August 17th 2015.

The main reasons for this new regulation are no other than to remove obstacles and to allow freedom of movement for people who currently face difficulties in exercising their inheritance rights in situations where more than one EU country is involved.

As there are more than 450,000 European families that will be affected by this new regulation it is regarded as a very relevant issue.

We would like to emphasize the following salient points: Applicable law, jurisdiction and European Succession Certificate.

APPLICABLE LAW At the moment in the Spanish Civil Code (art. 9.8) specifies that the law applicable for inheritance is the law of the country of the nationality of the deceased.

However, this new regulation, states that the inheritance law of the country in which the testator was habitually resident at the time of death should in general, be applied.

There are two exceptions to this new law: 1. If, exceptionally, it can be proven that the deceased had kept a manifestly closer connection with a country other than the country where they had their last habitual residence, the inheritance law of that other country would be applicable.

2. This new regulation also allows a person to choose which inheritance law should be applied at the time of death. This can be done by expressly specifying their choice in writing beforehand, for example in their will In conclusion, as a general rule the inheritance of any foreign resident deceasing in Spain would be governed by Spanish Law, unless otherwise specifically expressed beforehand in any public document such as a will.

Hence the importance of stating clearly in writing, i.e. in a will, which regime you wish to govern your estate.

APPLICABLE JURISDICTION The new regulations state that the courts of the Member Country in which the deceased had their habitual residence at the time of death, has jurisdiction to rule on the entire estate, unless the heirs agree otherwise. If this were the case, the heirs may agree that a court of the Member Country of the deceased`s nationality have exclusive jurisdiction to substantiate any conditions in matters of succession.

EUROPEAN SUCCESSION CERTIFICATE One of the other aspects that this new regulation addresses is the New European Inheritance Certificate. This new certificate will be issued for use by the heirs, legatees with direct rights, and executors or administrators of the estate. It constitutes a valid registration of hereditary acquisition in the relevant register of a Member Country. This will be valid in all Member States without any other special procedures.

If you have not made a will or have a will that does not comply with the Spanish inheritance Law, and is written according to the inheritance law of the nationality of the testator, it is imperative that you ensure that it specifically mentions which inheritance law should be applied.

If a will does not specify this, then we would recommend that you consider making a new will to avoid future problems.

6.000 alumnos de la comarca podrán participar en el concurso de dibujo infantil ‘La Naturaleza en tu mano’

L

a delegada de Medio Ambiente de la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, Carmen Márquez, ha presentado recientemente la tercera edición del concurso escolar ‘La Naturaleza en tu mano’, que va dirigido a más de 6.000 alumnos de la comarca de entre 9 y 11 años.

“En esta ocasión hemos informado del concurso a un total de 96 centros escolares, y hemos ampliado las bases para que puedan participar los alumnos de cuarto y quinto de Primaria”, explicó Márquez durante la rueda de prensa en la que presentó el concurso en la sede de la Mancomunidad.

“Lo que pretendemos con este certamen es acercar la naturaleza a estos niños”, subrayó la delegada, que ha detallado

que el concurso consiste en confeccionar un mural en el que se recojan las características de alguno de los parajes naturales de la Costa del Sol Occidental.

El plazo de presentación de los murales comenzó el pasado 14 de octubre y concluye el próximo 20 abril, “un periodo amplio en el que animamos a estos 96 centros a participar en un concurso que permitirá a los chavales profundizar más en los parajes naturales de su comarca”, valoró Márquez.

Un tribunal compuesto por miembros de la Delegación de Medio Ambiente de la Mancomunidad decidirán de entre todos los murales presentados cuáles resultan ganadores, basándose en criterios tales como el trabajo en grupo, la calidad de los textos incluidos y el tipo de materiales

utilizados, valorándose especialmente que sean reutilizables.

El primer premio consiste en una estancia de dos días y una noche en la Algaba de Ronda para el aula ganadora; el segundo premio es una visita al parque multiaventura del Fuerte Nagüeles, en Marbella; y el tercer premio, una visita al Museo Alborania y un itinerario por la desembocadura del río Guadalhorce, en Málaga.

No obstante, Márquez adelantó que habrá menciones especiales para aquellos murales que, aunque no estén entre los tres premiados, merezcan un reconocimiento, así como diplomas para todos los alumnos participantes. Las bases del concurso pueden consultarse en www.mancomunidad.org.

6,000 school children in the region given the chance to take part in drawing competition "Nature in your hand."

he minister of the Environmental Department of the Mancomunidad of the Western Costa del Sol, Carmen Marquez, recently announced the 3rd annual school competition 'Nature in your hand', aimed at more than 6,000 students of between 9 and 11 years of age.

"This time we have informed 96 schools in the region about the contest, and have expanded the age range so that students in fourth and fifth year of primary schooling can take part, "said Marquez during a news conference held at the headquarters of the Association.

"What we want with this event is to bring nature closer to these children,” said the delegate, who explained that the contest is to make a mural that features some of the natural areas of the Costa del Sol. The time frame for completion of the murals is between October 14 and 20 April, "a lengthy period in which these 96 centres are encouraged to participate in a competition that

will allow kids to get more deeply into the natural beauty of their surroundings," added Marquez.

A jury composed of members of the Environmental Department of the Mancomunidad will decide between the murals presented which are the winners, based on criteria such as group work, the quality of text included, and the type of materials used - particularly valued are those which are reusable.

The first prize is a two day and one night stay in Algaba de Ronda for the winning classroom; 2nd prize is a visit to the Fuerte Nagüeles multi-adventure park in Marbella; and 3rd prize, a trip to the Alborania Museum and the river Guadalhorce, Málaga.

However, Márquez announced that there will be special awards for those murals, although not among the three winners, which deserve recognition, as well as diplomas for all students participating. The contest rules are available at www. mancomunidad.org.

VISITA A CASA DE MARÍA La saludé: la besé en ambas mejillas, pómulos esculpidos, pómulos que son campos: proximidad de aves en los naranjos, proximidad del mundo, un huerto de piel humana hasta el rostro que todo lo lleva, lo transporta para bordar en las orillas del cansancio el cometido de la vida, la vida a secas, la más sencilla y destacada existencia, que cada mañana abre la puerta y busca el sol, y hace preguntas, y pregona, y una respuesta vetusta del cielo determina la caída, también la rampa para lograr, a pesar de los pesares, nuevas ilusiones, el abrazo de todo y de nada, de la vida a secas, de la vida rodando hasta callarse, o templarse, abismada, hasta llegar a la noche. El sueño al fin de la vida.

(Porque la vida se hace sincera en la vejez descansada).

La saludé. Mi saludo quería abrir su memoria, entonces sonreí y hablamos.

Sitiamos el dolor en la espesura de su sillón, me inquieté en esa jungla, en ese asiento de la ancianidad que hace franco el rostro, uncido el cuerpo en su quebranto, quise apartar los jaramagos del pensamiento, una rehala de nubes se aproximaban a su hamaca, y pude ver el día con el azul y el blanco de la bondad de la vieja, pude sentir la voz de la luz como a una madre trazando sobre el margen de su cabello una sonrisa.

Hablamos poco, o mucho más de lo que cree un mundo de palabras, donde el corazón siente más simpatía por los vocablos vírgenes que intentan expresar emociones: el mayor horizonte para conseguir el milagro del verbo. Ella, vestía de luto, suave perfil de la noche arrojada en el tiempo del óbito; pero era mediodía, y quise verla así,

envuelta también con la pureza de la flor madura, iluminada. Su mejilla implorada, añeja ola resuelta aun para las caricias de sus nietos, acurrucada de besos y milagros, con los honores que sosiegan el espíritu: música que el alma concreta en su suave sillón de abuela y hermana, anciana venidera de los llantos y las plegarias, recuerdos de escenas y de planes, de historias y semblanzas, ternura que calienta el alma de la habitación.

Al principio no me conoció. No me inquieté porque ya me comentaron sobre su estado de salud.

“Soy Francisco, el hijo de Isabel, que apodan la maleta, al que usted ponía inyecciones de pequeño”, le dije, con la confianza de que se acordara de aquello.

“Antes veía los programas de televisión –comentó su nuera, que es con quien vive, suponiendo que no recordaría lo de las inyecciones– pero ahora solo le gusta el fútbol”.

Yo la miré, y aunque no soy demasiado aficionado al fútbol, aquello me sorprendió y me alegró también. “¿Qué equipo le gusta?”, le pregunté.

No me dio tiempo a pensar que su hijo fuera del Real Madrid, cuando su sonrisa logró lo que ya no conseguían hacer sus pies, colaborar con su equipo preferido, meter goles de vitalidad, configurando ella misma el triunfo deportivo. Mi imaginación se precipitó a un campo de fútbol supuesto donde María orientaba al equipo y les contaba a los jugadores las historias: entradas y salidas, carreras, velocidad de un mundo en un campo de fútbol que ella conocía bien, lugareña de su afición, balompié de tiempos pasados, cuando su hijo jugaba

en la playa improvisando partidos a veces hasta el anochecer, en pantalón corto, con hilo zurcido, remiendo de ropa que, periodo de pobreza, a casi todos los chavales tenían que hacerle las madres.

“Pues vaya con María. No imaginaba que tuvieras tanto entusiasmo por el fútbol”, dije sonriendo.

“A mí sí..., a mí sí me gusta el deporte, que se ve a la gente de moverse mucho, y como ya una no es capaz de ir ni al servicio sola, pues así está la cosa…

La televisión me ayuda, la televisión es una ventana, esta ventana a la que miro, hasta desgastarme los ojos, y gracias a Dios que tengo la vista buena”, dijo tocándose los párpados.

Pensé en la cantidad de historias que ella me podría haber contado, pero su mente, débil, me invitaba a idear relatos que de sus propios labios no lograrían salir. Imaginé y sonreí al recordar una historia que me contaron en la escuela sobre un tío de mi maestro, que en el año 1934, jugando al fútbol, se golpeó la cabeza y cayó enfermo, estuvo en coma hasta el año cuarenta y dos; y al recuperarse llegó a decir que era el entrenador de la selección española, y un día llegó a ver al mismo Franco, al que le expresó: “Mi general, el fútbol me ha salvado de la guerra, y ahora debo de darlo todo por él; porque habría que practicar en cada estadio el deporte de la amistad, ya que en las guerras no vence nadie”.

La nuera se acercó a mí, notando que yo estaba distraído. “Pensaba tonterías”, le aclaré.

La anciana me miraba, yo la contemplé y mi silencio se envolvió con la belleza del ser que ante mí lucía la nobleza de su encanto: era la modalidad o la uniformidad de la señora que espera sentada en su butaca a

que alguien la visite.

“María, ya vendré a verte la semana que viene”, le concreté al fin.

“Cuando tú quieras”, se oía la voz atiplada de María, en otro tiempo más grave.

Tenía que marcharme, aunque hubiera deseado quedarme unos minutos más. “¡De qué poco tiempo dispongo! –exclamé en voz alta–, quizás hay demasiadas horas que malgastamos en cosas absurdas, en una sociedad ocupada entre modistos que nos miden el traje de autómata y adormecen los sentimientos”.

Writers’ Corner

Okay, so you’ve been living in Spain for a while and have had lots of amusing encounters with the locals. You’ve fallen into all sorts of truly hilarious situations as a result of mangling the language and the time has come to share your anecdotes with the wider world. There’s clearly a market for such books; after all, look at how successful they are for so many authors. So all you need to do is dash off your memoirs and a publisher is going to snap it up.

Yes? Sadly, no.

There are now so many writers living abroad, that to follow in the footsteps of Peter Mayle, Chris

Stewart, Carole Drinkwater and countless others, you need to hone your unique selling point. Even these three well-known authors had something to offer in addition to their ability to write about their experiences. Peter Mayle was the first, always handy as a USP. Chris Stewart was a former rock star and Carole Drinkwater wrote about managing an olive farm.

So, before you spend time putting together a proposal, you need to work out your unique angle.

Would you be the first to write about living in this region? Have you retired from, or taken up, an unusual occupation? Have you founded a sky-diving school?

Converted a cortijo into a nudist colony? Escaped from a religious commune? What is it about you that would sell a book?

You can no longer rely on quaint local customs, and even humour isn’t enough. I received feedback from a publisher who’d read my proposal for a book based on a column I’d written for Spanish Magazine. He said he’d laughed out loud in places, but he wouldn’t take the book on because it lacked a USP – a single thread running through it that made it stand out

It isn’t necessary to open another bank account. When you enter a competition, or submit stories to a magazine, using a pen name you can request payment under your own name. If you are entering by email or post then state in the covering letter that you are using the pen name of A.N. Other, but that your real name is B.A. Writer. If entering through one of the online systems that don’t deal with pen names (some have a place to enter an alternative name) when you are notified about your win simply explain that you have entered under a pen name, but would like payment made out to your real name.

Grupo de artistas del Club Internacional de Estepona Desde el pasado 7 de noviembre se puede visitar, en la Casa de la Juventud la inauguración de una exposición de pintura del Grupo de Artistas del Club Internacional de Estepona.

Este grupo está formado por entre 6 y 8 artistas de distintas nacionalidades, quienes desde hace más de diez años se reúnen cada viernes en la sede del Club, sita en la Urbanización Bahía Dorada, donde han recibido

clases del conocido pintor inglés afincado en Estepona, ya fallecido, John Wright.

Mayoritariamente, trabajan con pinturas acrílicas y acuarelas, de estilos que van desde el realismo al abstracto.

Desde entonces, han expuesto en distintos espacios de Estepona, como la Casa de la Cultura, el Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos o el Centro Cultural Padre Manuel, además de en

el Castillo de Sabinillas y en el Centro Cultural Mackintosh Hall de Gibraltar, entre otros.

La exposición consta de 30 obras pictóricas de distinta temática, y se podrá visitar hasta el 28 de noviembre, en el horario habitual de la Casa de la Juventud, de martes a viernes, de 09:00 a 20:00 y sábados y lunes, de 09:00 a 14:00 horas.

ICE Club artists group exhibition in Estepona The ICE Club artists group is to stage an exhibition of their work at the Casa de la Juventud, Plaza de Las Flores, Estepona, from Friday 7 to Friday 28 November.

The International Club of Estepona, better known as the ICE Club, runs an arts group which for the past ten years has met every Friday morning at the ICE clubhouse in Bahia Dorada.

For many years the members received lessons and guidance from the late John Wright.

The group have had numerous exhibitions in recent years, including the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre and Palacio de Congresos in Estepona, the John Mackintosh Hall in Gibraltar, and the Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa, amongst others.

Some thirty works will be on display, mostly oils, acrylics and watercolours, representing a range of styles from still lifes to abstracts.

The exhibition runs until Friday 28 November and is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 8 pm and Saturdays and Mondays from 9 am to 2 pm. Entrance is free.





Más de un centenar de extranjeros asistieron a la reunión informativa organizada por The Resident El 29 de octubre, el periódico The Resident celebró una reunión en Manilva para conocer, de primera mano, las inquietudes y aspiraciones de este colectivo de cara a las próximas elecciones municipales de mayo de 2015. Bajo el slogan ‘Your Municipality needs You’ (Su municipio te necesita), los vecinos no tardaran en expresar sus inquietudes y aspiraciones para ambos municipios. En el caso de Manilva, destacaron que hay problemas de inseguridad en el Puerto de la Duquesa, al tiempo que poco alumbrado y mostraron cierta confusión sobre la titularidad y responsabilidad administrativa de cada zona o responsabilidades. La pregunta más frecuente durante la reunión era: “¿El puerto es zona residencial o comercial?”.

En esta línea pidieron que es necesario “clarificar la situación y formular una estrategia sostenible donde los comerciantes y vecinos puedan coexistir conjuntamente”.

Asimismo, destacaron que la Policía Local debe ser más visible en la zona, especialmente entre las 11 de la noche y las 7 de la mañana, y sobre todo “durante las noches de jueves a sábado”.

En esta línea, precisaron que se debe tener en cuenta que el Puerto de la Duquesa es, en la actualidad, el centro de mayor actividad turística de la zona.

Otro foco de inseguridad, según los asistentes, se encuentra en El Hacho -desde la entrada por el club de golf hasta la primera urbanización no hay alumbrado-.

Muchos visitantes y residentes de la zona de arriba pasan andando por esta zona cuando se dirigen al puerto con la consiguiente

sensación de inseguridad que provoca esta circunstancia. A ello hay que unir que la zona está muy sucia y, en algunos puntos, abandonada. Por ello, los vecinos creen que la imagen es negativa tanto para residentes como para extranjeros.

Los problemas de limpieza se agravan con la presencia de excrementos de perros y gatos.

Señalan los extranjeros que “es uno de los problemas más graves

de limpieza”. Para solventarlo, proponen instalar papeleras con dispensadores de bolsas, zonas para perros en la playa y parques caninos como ya se ha hecho en otros municipios cercanos.

El 41% de la población empadronada en Manilva es extranjera. Esta cifra salió a colación al plantear el peso de este colectivo en el ayuntamiento lo que llevó a la siguiente reflexión: “¿Por qué no tenemos por lo

menos un concejal extranjero en el ayuntamiento?”, a lo que él mismo respondió que, por ejemplo, “hay 2400 británicos en el censos con derecho al voto, ¡podemos tener por lo menos tres concejales!”.

En relación a la Delegación

de Extranjeros, los asistentes destacaron que funciona muy bien en Manilva, por lo que hay que asegurar que el partido que gana las próximas elecciones sigue apostando por mantener está área municipal tan importante para este colectivo.

More than a hundred residents attended the Foreigners’ Meeting organized by ‘The Resident’

Institutional representation, security and cleaning: Priorities for the foreign population in Manilva and Casares.

On 29 October, ‘The Resident’ held a meeting in Manilva to find out, first-hand, about the concerns and aspirations of this group in relation to the forthcoming municipal elections in May 2015. Under the slogan 'Your Municipality needs You' (Your town needs you), residents were not slow in voicing their concerns and aspirations for both municipalities. For Manilva, they stress that there are security problems in the Port of Duquesa in terms of lack of lighting, and express some confusion about the ownership and management, or individual responsibility, for different areas. The most frequently asked question during the meeting was: "Is the Port residential or commercial?" It is also considered to be necessary "to clarify the situation and formulate a sustainable strategy where traders and neighbours can coexist together." The group also stressed that local police should be more visible in the area, especially between 11 pm and 7 am, and especially "during the night from Thursday to Saturday."

Along these lines, they also said that it should be kept in mind that the Port of Duquesa is currently the busiest tourist location in the area.

Another area of concern is the lack of security in the El Hacho urbanisation - from the entrance at the golf club to the first residential

area in the urbanisation where there is no lighting. Many visitors and residents walk through this area when going to the port and experience a sense of insecurity as a consequence of the lack of illumination. To this it was added that the area is very dirty and, in places, abandoned. Therefore, residents believe the image is negative for both residents and visitors.

Cleaning problems are aggravated by the presence of cat and dog excrement. Attendees at the meeting said that it “is one of the most serious cleaning problems."

To help resolve this they proposed the installation of bins with bag dispensers, areas for dogs at the beach and dog parks as has already been implemented in other nearby areas such as Estepona.

41% of the population registered in Manilva is foreign. This figure has given cause for reflection by the town hall considering the weight of this group and leading them to ask: "Why don’t we have at least one foreign councillor at the town hall?," to which they themselves replied, "there are 2,400 British on the census who are entitled to vote, we could have at least three councillors!".

In relation to the foreigners’ department, participants at the meeting stressed that it works very well in Manilva, so we must ensure that the party that wins the next election is still committed to this municipal department as it is crucial for so many residents in the area.

Entrevista Rafael Mena. Coordinador de la Gran Recogida en Manilva-Sabinillas

“En la Gran Recogida cualquier aportación es bienvenida para las personas que más lo necesitan” Los próximos 27 y 28 de noviembre se celebra la Gran Recogida, un evento solidario del Banco de Alimentos ‘Bancosol’ con el que se pretende mejorar las reservas de esta ONG que permite dar de comer a miles de personas en toda la provincia de Málaga. En esta ocasión, el empresario Rafael Mena será el coordinador de esta iniciativa en Manilva y Sabinillas, en la que también participa activamente la Delegación de Asuntos Sociales del Ayuntamiento de Manilva ¿Qué es la Gran Recogida de alimentos?

Se trata de una iniciativa que parte del Banco de Alimentos a nivel nacional. Surge ante las dificultades que están teniendo decenas de miles de familias en todo el país. En la provincia de Málaga en general, y en la Costa del Sol en particular, la crisis también está provocando que muchas personas lo pasen mal por lo que es necesario implicarse en acciones solidarias de este tipo.

La finalidad es recoger en las líneas de cajas de supermercados comida que los ciudadanos compren, específicamente, para esta ‘Gran Recogida’. Cualquier aportación es bienvenida.

¿Cómo se organiza esta acción?

La Gran Recogida lleva muchos meses de trabajo detrás, prácticamente desde que terminó la del pasado año. Para que sea un éxito no solo es necesaria la solidaridad de los ciudadanos, sino también de un inmenso equipo logístico que permitirá trasladar toda la comida que se recoja hasta los almacenes de Bancosol. ¿Qué tipo de alimentos o material se necesita?

Si bien es cierto que la Gran Recogida es principalmente para alimentos, también es bien recibido otros materiales como productos de aseo especialmente para niños y bebés. Pero lo realmente importante es la comida. Como es habitual en este tipo de acciones solidarias debemos aportar productos no perecederos puesto que muchos de ellos se repartirán durante los próximos meses entre las familias que lo necesiten. ¿Qué deben hacer los vecinos que quieran aportar alimentos?

Es muy sencillo. Los voluntarios estarán en los principales supermercados de la localidad.

A la entrada ofrecerán bolsas a los clientes con el objetivo

de que las llenen durante su compra. Al salir, y una vez que las hayan pagado, nos devuelven las bolsas con los alimentos y ya nos encargamos nosotros de almacenarla. Es muy importante: cualquier aportación, por pequeña que sea, es buena.

Se han organizado grupos en distintas empresas y colectivos de Manilva y Sabinillas. No obstante, si desean participar como voluntario debe ponerse en contacto con la organización a través de granrecogidamanilva@ gmail.com

Es complicado. El año pasado desbordamos todas nuestras previsiones y nos quedamos sin cajas para almacenar tanta comida. Con la situación actual no nos podemos conformar con nada, así que pedimos superar la cifra de 2013 y que, pese a tener este año más cajas, volvamos a tener problemas para poder guardar tanta comida.

What is the Big Food Collection?

It is an initiative of the nationwide

Food Bank arising from the difficulties tens of thousands of families across the country are having. In the province of Malaga in general and on the Costa del Sol in particular, the economic crisis is leaving many people badly in need and that is why getting involved in charity action of this nature is essential.

The purpose is to collect together boxes of supermarket food with the items that people buy specifically for this 'Big Collection'. Any donation is welcome.

How this operation organized?

The ‘Big Collection’ takes many months of work and started around the end of last year. To be successful not only is the general public’s charity necessary, but also an immense logistical team that can shift all the food collected to Bancosol stores.

What kind of food or things are needed?

It t is true that the ‘Big Collection’ is mainly for food, however other materials such as cleaning products, especially for children and babies, are also welcome.

But what really matters is the food.

As usual in this type of charity operation people should donate non-perishable products because many of them will be distributed in the coming months to families in need.

What do the general public have to do to donate food?

It's simple. Volunteers will be in major supermarkets in the town.

At the entrance they offer bags to customers in which to place their donation purchases. When leaving, and once they have paid, the bags of donated food are returned to the volunteers for storage. Any

contribution, however small is good and very important.

And if you want to volunteer what should you do?

We have organized groups in various companies and groups in Manilva and Sabinillas. However, if you wish to participate as a volunteer you should contact the organization through granrecogidamanilva@gmail.com Finally. A goal for this year?

It's complicated. Last year all our expectations were surpassed and we collected so much food that we didn’t have enough storage boxes for it. With the current situation we cannot settle for less, so we ask you to help us exceed the figure of 2013 and, despite having more boxes this year, we want and welcome problems again with keeping so much food.

Éxito de los tiradores del Club Internacional “Andaluzía” en el IV Torneo de Esgrima Organizado por la Asociación Gerónimo de Carranza en Chiclana El Club Internacional de esgrima participó en la cuarta competición de esgrima organizada por la Asociación Gerónimo Sánchez de Carranza con más de 120 participantes de todas las provincias andaluzas.

Las categorías fueron divididas en esgrimistas menores de 15 y 20 años en el polideportivo gaditano Ciudad de Chiclana.

Cinco jóvenes tiradores del Club “AndaluZía” participaron en la competición. En la categoría femenina de menores de 15 años Emily Wellington consiguió medalla de bronce y su hermana Mia Wellington resultó campeona y contundente ganadora de la prueba de menores de 20 años con tan sólo 15 años de edad.

En esta categoría obtuvieron un meritorio quinto puesto Hamish Kamaie, así como Nadia Ayala en su primera competición con el Club.

Destaca la magnífica competición realizada por Henry Shields en el grupo de deportistas de menores de 20 años que perdió por pocos tocados frente al ganador final de la competición.

The ball, a round ball but heavier than a typical soccer ball, is passed with the fist (Like Beach Volley ball), kicked from the hand (like a goal keeper in soccer), handled

and moved (like a basketball player) and tackles are shoulder to shoulder and focused on the ball (like no other sport I can think of right now).

We have local matches coming up against Seville and Gibraltar in November and December and with the dawn of 2015 we have a full schedule of matches locally and in the Iberian league in Galicia, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona!

Success for fencers from the ’Andaluzia’ International Club in the IV Fencing Tournament Organized by the Geronimo de Carranza Association in Chiclana The International Fencing Club participated in the fourth fencing competition organized by the Geronimo Sanchez Carranza Association with over 120 participants from all the provinces of Andalucia. The categories were divided into under 15’s and under 20’s in the Chiclana sports center in Cádiz.

Five young fencers from the

‘Andaluzia’ club took part in the competition. In the women's under 15’s Emily Wellington got a bronze medal and her sister Mia Wellington was crowned champion of the under 20’s at only 15 years old.

A notable fifth place was awarded to Kamaie Hamish and Nadia Ayala in her first competition with the club in the same category.

Henry Shields put on a magnificent performance in the under 20’s losing out by just a few points to the eventual winner of the competition.

Congratulations to all and continue with the wonderful art of fencing.

El Ayuntamiento organiza la I The town hall organizes the I Estepona Coastal Bicycle Marcha Cicloturista Estepona Tourism route '45 kilometers for a Safer Road ' Litoral '45 kilómetros por una carretera más segura' El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha organizado para el próximo domingo 30 de noviembre la I Marcha Cicloturista Estepona Litoral '45 kilómetros por una carretera más segura', con el fin de concienciar a los conductores de vehículos de la importancia de respetar a los ciclistas, y la necesidad de que éstos cumplan las recomendaciones que exige la seguridad vial.

La marcha, que no tendrá carácter competitivo, tendrá un recorrido de 45 kilómetros y discurrirá por todo el término municipal acompañada de agentes de la Policía Local. La salida está prevista para las 09.30 horas de la mañana desde el Parque Ferial, Deportivo y de Ocio de Estepona.

The competitive bike ride will cover 45 km and run through the entire municipality accompanied by local police officers. It is scheduled to begin at 09:30 am departing from the Estepona Fair Ground.

The route will be: The Fair ground, Avenida Juan Carlos I, Avenida Puerta del Mar, Avenida del Carmen, N-340 down to the Costa Galera roundabout and back along the N-340, Avenida del Carmen, Avenida España, Avenida Litoral, A-7 up to the roundabout in the Atalaya area, Benahavis road and back onto the A-7, Avenida Litoral, Avenida España, C / Terraza, Avenida Andalucía, Avenida Juan Carlos I and back toward the Fair ground.

Para presentar esta documentación el ciudadano extranjero debe ser mayor de 18

años y estar empadronado en el municipio con autorización de residencia en España. Si son ciudadanos de la UE y han manifestado su voluntad de votar en anteriores procesos electorales, siempre y cuando hayan seguido residiendo en España, no deben cumplimentar una nueva declaración.

La inscripción deberá realizarse por correo postal, internet o en los propios ayuntamientos. Sin embargo, el procedimiento más

habitual, y con el fin de evitar confusiones en el momento de realizar algún trámite o presentar algún documento, es de forma presencial en los ayuntamientos.

Por ejemplo, Estepona, ofrece un asesoramiento gratuito para completar este proceso en ocho idiomas distintos en la Oficina de Turismo de Torre Almenara.

Manilva, por su parte, pone a disposición de los vecinos un teléfono en el que resolver las dudas (952 80 30 39).

Ciudadanos de países no comunitarios En cuanto a los países no comunitarios cuyos ciudadanos pueden votar en estos comicios son aquellos con acuerdos de reciprocidad con España. Los vecinos de estos países deberán cumplimentar la documentación necesaria entre en el 1 de

diciembre de 2014 y el 15 de enero de 2015. Los ciudadanos de estos países podrán vivir si durante los cinco años han residido en España, circunstancia que debe ser acreditada mediante los certificados que emita la Policía Nacional.

The residents of these countries must complete the necessary documentation before January 15, 2015. Citizens of these countries will have resided in Spain for five years, a fact which should be qualified by the certificates issued by the National Police.

Perros y gatos también reciben, y expanden, su influencia.

Los científicos han comprobado que los canes reaccionan con más lamidos, caricias y miradas prolongadas a los ojos de sus humanos cuando están bajo los efectos de la oxitocina. Tampoco los gatos escapan a los efectos de la hormona del enamoramiento, explican los expertos.

Esta es una pequeña, pero potente, molécula que crea y refuerza lazos de amistad potentes entre nosotros y nuestros peludos compañeros de vida.

La hormona del amor en perros

La hormona del amor, u oxitocina en lenguaje científico, tiene afectos embriagadores en los humanos: nos transforma en personas más confiadas, más dispuestas a cooperar y, bajos sus efectos, también somos más generosos. Pero la química de la oxitocina no acaba aquí. Los científicos han comprobado que esta potente hormona es la responsable de la fuerte relación de amor y amistad que nos une a personas y perros, a canes con canes, a humanos con gatos, a felinos con felinos ¡y todas sus combinaciones! Un equipo de científicos ha querido revelar si esta hormona del amor es tan potente

en perros como en humanos. Para ello, han probado sus efectos en un grupo de 16 canes, durante más de un año. Los investigadores pulverizaron una solución de oxitocina en los hocicos de algunos perros, mientras que otros sólo fueron rociados con una solución salina.

Los propietarios de estos animales esperaron pacientes, sentados en sillas, la llegada de sus peludos amigos.

Aunque los científicos dieron a los dueños la pauta de no responder a las caricias o saludos de sus perros (con el fin de estudiar el efecto aislado de la hormona del amor en dichos animales), esto no fue tan sencillo para los propietarios de los canes cuyos hocicos se rociaron con oxitocina.

“La hormona del amor refuerza el acercamiento social de los perros con sus humanos y estrecha las relaciones afectivas entre ellos; constituye una pieza clave en la creación de vínculos sociales entre especies y con otros animales distintos”, explica la investigadora veterinaria Teresa Romero, coordinadora de la investigación, publicada en la revista científica ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’. El estudio revela que la oxitocina no sólo se libera en los perros durante la reproducción, sino que también ayuda a crear y mantener relaciones sociales entre diferentes especies,

en este caso, entre humanos y perros. Sin embargo, los canes no son los únicos amigos peludos que liberan oxitocina cuando están felices. El profesor Paul Zak, de la Universidad de Claremont, en Estados Unidos, ha investigado y comprobado que esta química del amor también funciona en los gatos.

La hormona del amor también mejora la relación entre perros

La oxitocina no sólo explica las fuertes relaciones que surgen entre perros y humanos. También está detrás de los fuertes vínculos que pueden surgir entre dos canes y/o dos felinos. Mayores niveles de hormona del amor aumentan el tiempo que dos perros o felinos pasan juntos y viceversa. “La oxitocina juega un papel fundamental en los vínculos de afiliación que surgen entre los animales y estimula su comportamiento social”, añade Romero. Scientists have found that this powerful hormone is responsible for the strong relationship of love and friendship that unites people and dogs, dogs with dogs, humans with cats, cats with other cats etc.! A team of scientists wanted to discover whether the hormone of love is so powerful in dogs and humans. To do this, they have tried to show its’ effects on a group of 16 dogs, during a one year trial. The researchers sprayed a solution of oxytocin on the muzzles

of some dogs, while others just were sprayed with a saline (salt) solution. The owners of these animals waited patiently, sitting on chairs, for the arrival of their furry friends. Although the scientists instructed the owners how to respond, or not, to petting their dogs or how to greet them (to study the effects of the hormone in animals), this was not so easy for owners of dogs whose snouts were sprayed with oxytocin. Animals under the powerful effects of the hormone sniffed, licked and attempted to get the attention and caresses of their masters in a much more insistent manner than those who received only the saline spray. Similarly, these dogs spent more time looking into the eyes of their owners.

Dogs and cats also release the hormone of love

This is a key factor in the creation of social ties between different species and among other animals as well, according to veterinary researcher Teresa Romero, research coordinator, in her work published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. The study shows that oxytocin is released not only in dogs during reproductive and birthing activities - for which it is most associated, but it also helps to create and maintain social relationships between different species, in this case, between humans and dogs. However, dogs are not the only furry friends that release oxytocin when they are happy. Love hormone also enhances the relationship between dogs
