Safeguarding Children As part of their curriculum, the children learn how to keep themselves safe. The following website has been set up by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) to offer parents and schools advice on how to raise safeguarding awareness with children. There is a notable section called ‘The Underwear Rule’ which is of particular support and guidance to parents. The website also offers advice regarding ‘online safety’ and how to obtain support or advice regarding the safeguarding of children. www.nspcc.org.uk
School Uniform Purchases The Primary uniform can be purchased through the Khalsa Schoolwear website or can be bought at the Khalsa Schoolwear shop in Bethnal Green. To save on the cost of delivery charges, Khalsa Schoolwear does a school delivery once every month. You can find further details of the delivery dates on their website or you can ask the reception office staff. Khalsa Schoolwear will also be selling the school uniform in the Secondary school on Tuesday 25th July whereby you can try on items for size and will be entitled to a ‘start of term’ discount.
A Message from Ms Chaggar The PowerPoint that was shared during the Wisepay Lunches presentation is available for parents to view on the website under the ‘Community’ tab and ‘Resources for Parents’.

Dear Primary Parents, It was lovely to see so many of you at Wednesday’s Summer Fayre. Thank you for all you support over the past year. The primary school has gone from strength to strength this year and I know that you would wish to join me in congratulating Ms Broadway, all the staff and all the pupils on their fantastic achievements. I hope that you have wonderful holiday and a good rest over the summer. And finally, may I introduce you to another of our new members of staff in September, Ms Ghafour: Shahzia Ghafoor , Primary Teacher I am excited to be on the INA team for September 2017. I look forward to the new challenges and creative opportunities that await me. The coming year will be my first full time role after some years of part time teaching, due to raising my family. The prospect of working full time brings hope of a new chapter in my life and the start of a new adventure. I was born in Cambridgeshire but raised in London. As a Londoner I firmly believe in improving the life chances for all pupils in the city. This starts with the correct mind-set that all pupils deserve the right to a superb education in their local school, where they can fulfil their potential and witness the fruits of their success. I’m committed to raising the standards of education for all pupils in my own class and wider school. So there was no question that when the opportunity at INA arose, I had to take it- the ethos and my mind-set were the same. Qualified as a Science teacher, I went down into Primary where I have learned the grassroots children’s learning and development over the last 14 years. My teaching skills are specific to English and Maths in raising attainment by identifying gaps and problems in learning. I like to focus on progression as a means of challenge setting for pupils and teachers alike. The staff training day in June gave me a glimpse of the INA framework of staff. I was impressed and encouraged to see how each cog has a purpose and the whole team ticks in motion simultaneously. It’s definitely where I want to be and I look forward to working with everyone in September

Lunch Ambassadors Tea Party After a term of cleaning tables, clearing away plates and setting the space up for the Year 1 pupils to enter the dining hall for the second sitting of lunch, the hard working Lunch Ambassadors were treated to a well earned Tea Party. With cakes, scones and sandwiches on offer, I can see the number of applications for the role rocketing next term. Thank you Mr Marshall-Jones for organising the event and thank you Ms Gilley for such a beautiful spread!

Enrichment Clubs The Recorder Club enjoyed performing to their parents/carers this week and sharing the songs that they have been learning over the course of the half term. They sounded fantastic and I hope they all continue to practice over the break.
The final Father and Son enrichment took place on Thursday evening with a highly competitive game of cricket. Initial overs were gentle and allowed people to relax before muscles were flexed. Everyone had a great time, and I am sure some old cricket bats are going to have the dust brushed off them following this session!

BRIDGES in the Primary Phase “We build too many walls and not enough bridges. Isaac Newton
BRIDGES are habits of mind or learning characteristics that develop a pupil's character and learning power and enable him/her to grow into a wellrounded individual and resilient learner. There are seven BRIDGES habits that we will be working on, which will rotate on a weekly cycle throughout the year. The BRIDGES habit of the week will always be introduced at the beginning of the week during the Monday assembly and reinforced throughout the week across the curriculum. Each class teacher will award a certificate to a pupil that they feel has demonstrated the BRIDGES focus for the week. Each week we will update you on the BRIDGES habit that will be introduced in the coming week and offer some top tips on how to reinforce the habit at home too. Please also refer to the Primary BRIDGES wheel below.
We hope that the children will continue to develop their BRIDGES characteristics during the summer break and will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate them all.
