Year 9 Samba Drumming Autumn 1 or 2

Students will learn to play a 4 part polyrhythm with an opening call and response and various breaks, some of which they will have written themselves.

Skills, students will… • Learn to play the various samba instruments in time with the pulse during complicated polyrhythms • Move between different rhythms and breaks fluently • Perform with technical proficiency on a range of instruments • Create their own breaks to be integrated into the class performance • Learn to lead the Samba Ensemble • Perform choreography during their performance
