Reading: Zeara Polo, A. 2010. Between Ideas and Matters.
According to Zeara-Polo, the diagram does not play a representational role in the design process but provides an organisational and can have a performative quality depending on how it is deployed. Explain how Diagram is different from Signs and Symbols? (100 words Maximum)
According to Zeara-Polo, the diagram can be deployed and operate architecturally. The diagram has the ability to describe relationships and prescribe the performances of space, and in relation to its processing of matter. Different from signifying or symbolic operations, one of the greatest potentials of a diagrammatic construction is to produce organisations with multiple readings. In addition, diagrams is different from signs and symbols because diagrams do not play a representational role for their dynamic object, and mediate between physical constructs and concepts or percepts on and organizational level. Their performance depends on how they are deployed.

I trace each pieces in rhino and ultilise elevation and plan to comfired how each structrues looks like then rotate each pieces until each structure match the elevation and plan.

Week Two
Reading: Hertzberger H. 2005. The in-between and The Habitable Space Between Things, from Lessons for Students in Architecture. Herzberger discuss how design should not be extreme in its functionality. Use your precedent study to explain how the pavilion allows for an appropriation of use. (100 words Maximum)
As Herzberger discussed threshold provides the key to the transition and connection between areas and can also be a sheltered area. Since the idea of Serpentine Pavilion by Libeskind is originated from a 18 folds origami it has pieces of irregular aluminate walls. Those aluminate walls can screen off the sun that offer some dark spaces as private or can offer a place to lean on. Entrance porches are defined by the walls or even dark and light so there is no formal entrances. People can get into the pavilion wherever they think it is an entrance. Although it is a pavilion for lecture theatre, cafe and gallery party venue, it is a semi-open structure which can alsoallow kids to regard it as a hide and seek place.

Week Two
Isometric
Isomatric Image The isomatric image is covered with 3 colors which defined the roof and the inside and outside of the walls. The dotted lines show the inside structure. I modelled the 18 pieces aluminium sheets according to the unfold plan, elevation and plan and also extruve the surfaces with thickness. This is a powerful pavillion. I thought it is a simple structure but I was wrong. Every single pieces is designed as a proper angle forming overlapping spaces then create the coutinuouse spaces. Libeskind designed the pavillion called Eighteen Turns. It is an angular metal pavilion made from sheets of aluminium , riveted together to create a continuous form that seemingly folded over itself. The aluminum reflective quality of the material aimed to mirror the surrounding green space and the Serpentine Gallery itself. The thresholds are defined by the walls, the overlapping spaces and dark and light. As they all create a transtion between spaces. People can walk through the pavillion randomlly like no start and end which indicates the continuous of the pavillion.
