Capitalizing on the site’s unique attributes, Cap Enfeh aims to create a Mediterranean seaside community that celebrates living by the sea. With its simple yet crafted architecture, the project values its direct relationship with its natural, cultural and historical context.

This mixed-used neighborhood provides a car-free environment where parkings are located outside its village center, offering walkable distances, bicycle friendly streets and other methods of green transportation (shuttles, golf carts).

Far from being another private beach resort on the Lebanese coast, Cap Enfeh is an all-year destination village.

By carefully analyzing and understanding Enfeh's old village attributes, morphology and evolution, the project aims to promote local craftsmanship and encourage traditional building techniques.

MODULES - FORM LANGUAGE

UNIT TYPOLOGIES

COMBINATIONS

The design process of the village center stretches from the smallest scale room module to the architectural massing to the cluster guidelines to the neighborhood organization.

First, on the smallest scale, a catalogue of interior spaces modules is defined: living, dining, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. These modules are then assembled to form four typologies of units: studio, onebedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments.

Carefully staggered in a two floors layout, the apartments are then organized in clusters.

The village center is subdivided into clusters linked by a network of pedestrian commercial streets - the 'Souk' - and a series of squares.

Each cluster presents a central courtyard that distributes to the apartments. This hierarchy structure and clear organization of the outdoor communal spaces create flexible boundaries and a gradual transition between public and private spaces.

SECTOR 5

Al Zorah is a mixed-use development in Ajman, a refined coastal destination with a rich existing ecosystem, that aims to create a bustling seaside community, a nurturing place to live, work, and play.

The development includes hotels and resorts, residences, commercial space, leisure facilities, and an 18-hole golf course set in a natural environment of sandy areas and natural mangroves.

Five distinct neighborhoods with defined characters, connected via lush parks, active public spaces, and shaded paths and promenades, result in a sustainable and cohesive environment: (1) The Shores, (2) The Avenues, (3) The Coves, (4) The Fairways, and (5) The Gates.

MASTER PLAN

A computational algorithm was used to generate the best rotation for buildings in order to achieve a layout that maximizes views toward the Golf Course and reduces blocked facades. Moreover, building heights are designed in stepped massing that range from 3 to 7 floors.

Fairways Residences bring together 17 plots of land that will be sold to third parties along with a full architecture concept and design guidelines, aiming to create a coherent neighborhood. Each proposed design offers flexible residential options for studios, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.

MASTER PLAN

A forested park is located at the heart of the project, with lushly landscaped green spines extended from the center and connecting, through walking and cycling passageways, the park with the 3 loop streets and boulevard. Each one will have its own urban identity, whilst the main street is designed as a 25m boulevard with wide treelined sidewalks and a 2 km two-lane cycling track.

LIVING CITIES, THEREFORE, ONES IN WHICH PEOPLE CAN INTERACT WITH ONE ANOTHER, ARE ALWAYS STIMULATING BECAUSE THEY ARE RICH IN EXPERIENCES, [...] NO MATTER HOW MANY COLORS AND VARIATIONS OF SHAPE IN BUILDINGS ARE INTRODUCED.

Life Between Buildings - Using Public Space (1971)

Life happens between buildings. Vibrant outdoor public spaces are places for urban encounter. This is where people living, working and entertaining meet and interact with one another.

District 5 is a mixed-use vibrant neighborhood formed of four interconnected poles organized around a central park, its fifth district.

The master plan offers high quality outdoor spaces that invite their users to reconnect with streets, courtyards, squares and parks - applying urban design principles that generate neighborhoods for people and not for cars.

IF YOU PLAN CITIES FOR CARS AND TRAFFIC, YOU GET CARS AND TRAFFIC. IF YOU PLAN FOR PEOPLE AND PLACES, YOU GET PEOPLE AND PLACES.

The proposed design aims to strengthen the Old Shoreline Walk by connecting Beirut Souks to Saint George Bay through a 640 meter generous pedestrian friendly promenade that offers a unique public space in Beirut.

On its main street, the transformation consists on lowering the vehicular traffic from two to one paved lane on each side - based on a traffic impact study. The 2 meter width median is expanded to an 8 meter central walk, following the model of shared public spaces and introducing the concept of "living street".
