In Japan, women give their boyfriends chocolates on St Valentine’s Day. A month later, the men have to give their girlfriends a present back. The Japanese call this day “White Day” because the present they give their girlfriends has to be white: white chocolates, white clothes, white flowers.
In Britain, friends sign their cards with ‘xxx’. This means ‘kiss, kiss’. Do you know why ‘x’ means ‘kiss’? Because in the Middle Ages, people didn’t know how to sing their names. They signed with an ‘X’ and then kissed it.
Game How do you say “White Day” in Japanese? Crack the code to find out.
