The 2017 Philadelphia Pritsch Cup Team brought home the Trophy in the 11th year of this event. This is the third year in a row the Philadelphia Section team has won. With four returning players for the 2018 team, Philadelphia’s team looks promising.

tragically passed away in May of 1991 at the age of 17. Before his passing, Pritsch was recognized as one of the top junior golfers in the nation. To date, the Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $140,000 and given away over 100 scholarships to juniors looking to pursue a career in a golf related field.


Shew shot a two-round total of 144 (+4) to come in a tie for second place at the Boys Philly Junior PGA Championship. His performance was highlighted by a second round score 68 (-4), which marks his lowest round of the season. Shew also leads the Boys 16-18 Division in points this season. Shew’s favorite club in his bag is a 9-iron. His dream foursome would be Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, and Arnold Palmer, and his favorite tour player is Jordan Spieth. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is The Flash. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have super speed. His future golf plans include completing a Professional Golf Management program because he enjoys being out on the golf course everyday.

~ West Chester, PA Romanov has shown that he can play so far this year and is a member of the Pritsch Cup team for the second straight year. He has landed in the Top-three of more than half of his events, and has had four wins. Romanov’s favorite club in his bag is his putter, because that is where he can make all the money. His dream foursome would be Jessica Korda, Michelle Wie, and Paula Creamer. His favorite tour player is Xander Schauffele. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is Hawaii Five-O. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have the ability to time travel. His future golf plans include playing in college while eventually becoming a coach.

~ Wilmington, DE Gooneratne had two wins this year and his low round was a 73 (+3) at Middletown Country Club. He has finished in the Top 10 in 74% of his events. His consistent play has allowed him to join the Pritsch Cup team for another year. Gooneratne’s favorite club in his bag is his 56 degree sand wedge. His dream foursome would be Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan, and his favorite tour player is Rory McIlroy. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is The Office. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have telepathy. His future golf plans include making it to the Pennsylvania state tournament for high school golf for his remaining three years in high school.

Sheehan, a member of the 2017 Pritsch Cup team, highlighted his season with a first-place finish at the Boys Philly Junior PGA Championship, which allowed him to represent the Philadelphia Section at the Boys National Junior PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Sheehan’s favorite club is his 3-iron. His dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, and Arnold Palmer. His favorite tour player is Dustin Johnson. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is The Office. If he could have a superpower, he would want the ability to fly. His future golf plans including playing Division-1 golf.

~ Doylestown, PA

The Boys 13-15 Division points leader, Thomas has had some impressive performances this year. Of Thomas’ seven wins this year, three of them have been even-par or better. Thomas was a member of the 2017 Pritsch Cup team. Thomas’ favorite club in his bag would be his driver since he hits it the furthest. His dream foursome would be his father, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer. His favorite tour player is Andrew Johnston, also known as “Beef”. His favorite TV show to binge watch on Netflix is The Office. If he could have a superpower, he would like to have the ability to fly. His future golf plans include becoming a professional.

~ Unionville, PA Maddaloni has proven to be a strong player and frequently shoots in the 70’s. Out of his 11 tournaments, he has had seven Top-three finishes. His low round of the year was a 72 (+2) at The Bucks Club and Spring Hollow GC. Maddaloni’s favorite club in his bag is his Callaway Rogue Driver. His dream foursome would be Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, and Tiger Woods, with his favorite tour player being Justin Thomas. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is Prison Break. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have the ability to teleport. His future golf plans include playing in college.

Debusschere highlighted his season with two wins, and his low round of the season was a 72 (+1) at Chesapeake Bay GC. He has landed himself on the podium in eight events and has finished in the Top-10 in 77% of his tournaments. Debusschere’ s favorite club in his bag is his gap wedge. His dream foursome would include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Bob Menery. His favorite tour player is Tiger Woods. He favorite TV show to watch is Survivor. He would want the ability to fly if he could have a superpower. His future golf plans include playing college golf at a Division-1 school.

~ Wallingford, PA Sokalsky led the Boys 13-15 Division in Birdies with 47. He has finished in the Top 10 in 86% of his tournaments, with his low round of the season being a 74 at Penn State. Sokalsky’s favorite club in his bag is his putter. His dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Jordan Spieth, with his favorite tour player being Jordan Spieth. His favorite show to binge watch on Netflix is The Blacklist. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have to ability to read people’s minds. His future golf plans include playing collegiate golf.

~ Garnet Valley, PA

McCabe has had seven wins this year, and rarely shoots out of the 70’s. He has placed in the Top 10 of every event he has played in this past year, and has finished in the Top 5 of 92% of them. McCabe’s favorite club is his sand wedge because of the amount of spin on it. His dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, and Aaron Rodgers, and his favorite tour player is Tiger Woods. His favorite TV show to binge watch on Netflix is The Office. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have super speed. In regards to his future golf plans, he would love to play in college.

Pillar has had solid play all season and has consistently shot in the 70’s. His low round of the year was a 67 (-5) to win first place at Penn State. Pillar’s favorite club in his bag is his 58 degree wedge. His dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka, and Arnold Palmer, and his favorite tour player is Brooks Koepka. His favorite show to watch would be either Breaking Bad or The 100. If he could have a superpower, he would want to have the ability to control time. His future golf plans include playing collegiate golf, earning a business degree, and eventually becoming a professional.

~ Hawley, PA Carroll led the Girls 16-18 Division in points and has had multiple wins this year. Her low round of the year was a 75 at Pine Meadows Golf Complex for a first place finish. Carroll’s favorite club in his bag is her 9-iron. Her dream foursome would be Mike Tobiason, Cory Fitzgerald, and Kaden Kinard. Her favorite tour player is Mariah Stackhouse. If she could have a superpower, she would want to be able to grant herself endless wishes. Her future golf plans consist of residing in the present.

~ Bear, DE

Despite being only 11, Tolentino led the Girls 13-15 Division in points. This year, she has had 9 wins and has shot several rounds in the 70’s. Her biggest win was at the Girls Philly Junior PGA Championship where she won the Girls 13-15 Division after shooting 78-75 (+11). Tolentino does not have a favorite club in her bag because she loves all of them. Her dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Jason Day, and Lydia Ko, and her favorite tour player is Jason Day. If she could have a superpower, she would want to have super speed. Her future golf plans include becoming a professional golfer on the LPGA Tour.
