Monday, June 22 Although it was not officially a part of the Rehoboth Beach Series, the Rehoboth Junior Open at Rehoboth Beach Country Club provided an extra day of golf for the 33 PJT members who participated in each day of the series. Located on the Delmarva Peninsula, Rehoboth Beach CC provided spectacular views for its 61 competitors. Jason Cook (Seaford, DE) scored the low round at Rehoboth CC with a 70 (-2). Tuesday, June 23 Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club marked the first official tournament of the Rehoboth Beach series on Tuesday. With temperatures reaching in the upper nineties, 49 participants melted their way through one of Delaware’s premier courses. Liam Powderly (Cockeysville, MD) was the overall winner of the day, posting a 68 (-4). Wednesday, June 24 Wednesday’s tournament was played at Kings Creek Country Club. The naturally beautiful course provided a scenic layout for both its players and spectators. With perfect weather conditions, 50 golfers fought to secure the gold medal. It was William Mitchell (Moorestown, NJ) who took home this title after shooting a 70 (-1). Thursday, June 25 The Rehoboth Beach Series concluded at Bayside Resort & Golf Club with 51 Junior Tour golfers. The course is considered to be one of Delaware's toughest, which held true for our tournament. William Mitchell (Moorestown, NJ) in the Boys 16-18 Division and Ford Bennett (Owings Mills, MD) in the Boys 13-15 Division tied for the lead score with a 69 (-3).

Rule 27-2. Provisional Ball What’s it all about? Rule 27-2 deals with playing a provisional ball to save time if a ball may be lost outside a water hazard or may be out of bounds. The Rule states the procedure for playing a provisional ball, when a provisional ball becomes the ball in play, and when a provisional ball must be abandoned.
GET TO KNOW THE RULES OF GOLF
GET TO KNOW THE RULES OF GOLF
Know the Rules
How does it work? The Rule starts by explaining the procedure for playing a provisional ball. To use the provisional ball rule, tell your fellow-competitor in stroke play that you intend to play a provisional ball. You must play it before you go forward to search for the original ball. If this procedure if not followed, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play under penalty of stroke and distance and the original ball is lost. Next, the Rule explains when a provisional ball becomes the ball in play. You may play a provisional ball until you reach the place where the original ball is likely to be. If you make a stroke at a provisional ball from the place where the original ball is likely to be or closer to the hole than where the original ball is likely to be, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play under penalty of stroke and distance. In addition, if the original ball is lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play. The only exception to these conditions is if it is known or virtually certain that the ball was moved by an outside agency, is in an obstruction or is in an abnormal ground condition. If any of these exceptions apply, you may proceed under the applicable rule.
If your ball misses the fairway at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, PA it is probably a good idea to hit a provisional ball.
Finally, the Rule explains that if the ball is not lost or out of bounds the provisional ball must be abandoned. If you make any strokes at a provisional ball after the original ball has been found, you are playing a wrong ball and must proceed under Rule 15-3 (Wrong Ball). Rule 27-2 In Action: Lewis tees off on a hole and believes his ball may be lost outside of a water hazard. Lewis tells his fellow competitors that he is going to play a provisional ball. Unfortunately, Lewis tops his next shot. Lewis then plays his provisional ball until he reaches the place where his original ball is likely to be. After searching for 2 minutes in that area, Lewis finds his original ball. This means the provisional ball is abandoned and any strokes or penalties he incurred solely from playing the provisional ball are disregarded. Lewis then finishes out the hole with his original ball. Why is Rule 27-2 Important? The provisional ball rule is important because it will save you time on the golf course. If you think your ball is lost, rather than going forward, looking for your ball and walking back to where the original ball was played, you may immediately play a provisional ball. If you determine the ball is lost or out of bounds, simply walk to your provisional ball and play from there. The Philly Junior Tour highly encourages our players to use the provisional ball rule whenever there is a possibility that a ball may be out of bounds or lost outside a water hazard, so remember that this rule is available to you whenever you might need it.
A good attitude and a good night’s sleep are two key things to consider when preparing for a long day on the golf course. And those could be considered mental preparations. But what should be put into consideration along with that is good nutritious food that will physically keep the body energized. It’s always been my personal belief that a great round of golf comes from staying mentally balanced throughout the entire holes.
18
You just sliced the ball into a hazard? Deep breaths…you can now either re-tee, drop from 2 club-lengths out, or go from point-of-entry, etc.
You just missed a 3-foot putt? Tap it in. Is the next hole a driver hole, or is it a par-3?
2+ Bottles of Water Options : Vitamin Water, Lite Gatorade, Green Tea
A Banana Options: Apples, Dried Fruits (Raisins, apricots, peaches etc.)
Half a Bagel with Peanut Butter Options: Mixed Nuts, Peanut Butter Pretzels, Trail Mix
All-Natural Granola Bars Options: KIND healthy grains, LARAbar, LUNAbars, Kashi
Beef Jerky Options: Cheese Sticks, Veggies and Hummus, Hard-Boiled Eggs
You stuck it close to the pin? Now focus on sinking that 6foot putt. Successful competitive golf is about mentally managing the ups and the downs, to have a budgeted reaction time to each success or failure. And so, why not help your mind deal with the rollercoaster by providing the body the means to do so? While the mind is busy working away at the next scenario on how to put that golf ball closer to the hole, the body is constantly burning energy to help the mind think. We should provide our bodies with a constant food source to burn into energy.
Snack Check-List
The key factors to consider when building a Snack Bank are to stay AWAY from:
Too much sugar: fast energy spikes distracts the body and mind Caffeine: adrenaline rushes are followed by crashes Greasy foods : sits heavily in the stomach and processes too slowly
When snack-packing becomes more of a routine for you, you can start getting creative with it. Do some wheatthins sandwiched with chicken/tuna salad. Make your own granola bars. Slather peanut butter on wheat bread with sliced bananas. The key is to get into the consistent habit of packing a Snack-Bag for your round, make it part of your preroutine preparation, and then sit back and watch the results of all that preparation energize you through your golf round.
