Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals As the fall season starts to wind down, the 2018 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals begins to get closer and closer. The 2018 DCP Finals will take place on April 1st at Augusta National Golf Club, a week before the Masters Tournament. Two of the Philadelphia Junior Tour’s very own will be taking part in the action next April. Sawyer Brockstedt (Rehoboth Beach, DE) and Nicholas Gross (Downingtown, PA) both made it through the Local, Sub-Regional and Regional qualifying stages to punch their ticket to Augusta! Brockstedt participated in the Regional at Pinehurst Resort (Pinehurst, NC) and recorded a total score of 114. Gross qualified through the Regional at Winged Foot Golf Club (Mamoroneck, NY) and posted a total score of 153. Congratulations and good luck to both Sawyer and Nicholas!

RULES OF GOLF—RULE 23: LOOSE IMPEDIMENTS
Rules of Golf: Rule 23: Loose Impediments With the fall golf season in full swing, many courses are now littered with leaves in the fairways and rough making ball searches just a little bit harder. Another issue that may come up with scattered leaves is that your ball may be resting on a leaf or your swing may come into contact with a leaf. Luckily, leaves are defined as loose impediments and, under Rule 23, may be removed without penalty outside of a water hazard. If the ball lies anywhere other than the putting green and the removal of a loose impediment caused the ball to move, the player would incur a penalty of one stroke under Rule 18 -2 (Ball at rest moved). When the player is on the putting green, if the ball or ball marker is accidentally moved while moving a loose impediment, the ball or ball marker must be replaced. There is no

penalty as long as the movement of the ball or ball marker is directly attributed to the removal of the loose impediment. Otherwise, there is a penalty of one stroke under Rule 18-2. If the ball lies in a hazard, the player must not touch or move any loose impediment lying in or touching the same hazard (see rule 13-4c, Ball in Hazard, Prohibited Actions). If a player moves a loose impediment in a hazard, then he incurs a penalty of two strokes. The PJT hard card has a Local Rule declaring stones in bunkers movable obstructions. Although not as likely in the summer, you may come across more than one loose impediment on the golf course this fall!
