The 2016 Philadelphia Pritsch Cup Team brought home the Trophy in the 10th year of the this event. This is the second year in a row that the Philadelphia Section team has won. With 3 returning players for the 2017 team, Philadelphia’s team looks strong.

The Story Behind the Jon. M Pritsch Cup The Jon M. Pritsch Cup is played to honor the memory of Jon M. Pritsch, who tragically passed away in May of 1991, at the age of 17. Before his passing, Pritsch was recognized as one of the top junior golfers in the nation. To date, the Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $140,000 and given away over 100 scholarships to juniors looking to pursue a career in a golf related field.


Gooneratne is our current 13-15 Boys points leader, with multiple wins on his season, one to highlight is his even par 70 at Pennsauken Country Club. His favorite club in his bag is his sand wedge because he can hit all types of shots with it and he knows whenever he hits it, he knows there's a chance of it being close. When not playing golf he enjoys hanging out with his friends and reading books. His favorite song is “Remember The Name” by Fort Minor. His Favorite golf course he has ever played would have to be Broad Run in West Chester, PA , and he would like to play Augusta National some time in the future. His plans in golf for the future is to make his high school varsity golf team as a freshman and be one of the top players on that team.

~ Plymouth Meeting, PA Butler has shown he could play so far on the Junior Tour, he ranks within the top 10 in 78% of his tournaments and also had 5 top 3 performances. His favorite club in his bag would be his 9 iron because he is most comfortable and confident with that club. When he is not golfing he enjoys creating and building mechanical projects. He has no favorite songs, he can listen to anything. His favorite course he ever played is Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell and he wants to play at The Old Course at St. Andrews. His future plan in golf is to keep practicing and hopefully get a chance to play college golf.

~ Telford, PA Jack Cooley has 5 wins on the year but highlighted by the win at Indian Springs where he shot an impressive 74 . He also leads his age division in Top 10 performances with a total of 30. His favorite club in his bag is his putter because he likes the feeling of putts dropping. On day’s he not on the golf course he likes to spend time with his friends and also watch golf. His favorite music artist is Cold Play. His favorite course that he has ever played is The Philadelphia Cricket Club and he would like to get a chance to play Pine V alley at some point. His future plan in golf is to play college golf and maybe play on the Web.com Tour.

Caleb Ryan, a previous Pritsch Cup member, has multiple rounds sub par this year on the Junior tour. A round of 67 at Turtle Creek and a round of 69 at Ballamor shows this kid can really play. His favorite club in his bag is his 60 degree wedge because he can create lots of different shots. Times when he’s not golfing he enjoys playing games on his phones and hanging out with his brothers and friends. His favorite song is “Hall of Fame” by Script. His favorite course that he has played is Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina and he hopes he could get to play Augusta National. His future plan in golf is to play D1 golf in Florida and then hopefully make it to the PGA Tour.

~ Norristown, PA Romanov was on the Pritsch Cup team last year and continues to play well. He has 7 wins on the year including a 3 under 69 at The Vineyards in the first spring tournament of 2017 His favorite club in his bag would be his driver because when he hits it on the sweet spot it goes a mile. When he’s not playing golf he likes to go out with his friends or relax by the pool, he enjoys the rest he gets in between tournaments. His favorite song right now is “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day . His favorite golf course that he has ever played is Pine Valley and he would like to play Augusta National sometime in the future. His future plans in golf consists of playing D1 golf and eventually working his way to the PGA Tour

~ Wilmington, DE Thomas has 5 wins on the year, and rarely shoots out of the 70’s. Also has placed in the top 5 for 83% of his tournaments. Thomas says that his favorite club in his bag would have to be his driver. He likes his driver the most because that is the club he can hit the furthest. When not playing golf, Thomas enjoys playing hockey. His favorite song is “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan. His favorite golf course that he has played is Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville, New Jersey and he would really like to play Pine Valley. His future plan in golf is to just keep improving his game.

Ryan has 5 wins on the Junior Tour this year, highlighted by shooting under par in two rounds to win at Makefield Highlands, rounds of 70 and 71. His favorite club is his driver, Taylormade M2, because he hits it long and straight. On days he isn't out on the course he usually is hanging out with his brother playing video games or out playing sports. His favorite course he’s played was the Raptor Course at Greyhawk in Scottsdale, Arizona and he would like to some day play Augusta National. His future plan in golf is to play D1 golf and possibly become a professional golfer

~ Norristown, PA Paczewski was able to shoot a two day today of 143 (+1) in a Junior Tour tournament at Blue Bell CC, he shot 69 and 74 to take the win. His favorite club in his bag is his putter because he is very confident with it and considers it his scoring club. When not playing golf, Paczewski likes to hang out with his friends and play others sports including basketball and skiing. He enjoys any song from the Mumford and Son’s. His favorite golf course that he has played is Stonewall Old Course in Elverson, and he would like to some day play at Augusta National. His future plans with golf includes trying to play high-level college golf and hopefully play on the PGA Tour.

~ Dallas, PA

Hickey has a total of 6 wins so far on the Junior Tour, she also is in the lead in points for her age division. Her favorite club in the bag would be her sand wedge because she is confidently hitting it solid every time. When not golfing, she likes to work out at the gym to gain strength for her golf swing and become a stronger player. Her favorite song is “Springsteen” by Eric Church. Her favorite golf course that she has played is Kilmarlic Golf Club in North Carolina and she would like to play Pebble Beach at some point. Her future plan in golf is to play on a competitive college golf team and get better as a player over those 4 years.

Beek has a total of 10 wins so far on the year, also has a very impressive scoring average of 80.2. She also has won every time she has played this year on the Junior Tour. Her favorite club is her driver because it is very accurate. When Elizabeth is not playing golf she enjoys spending time with her friends. Currently, her favorite song is “Sorry, Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato. Her favorite course is Pinehurst #2 because she recently competed in the Van Horn Cup representing the United States. She would love to Pinehurst No. 2 again. In the future, Elizabeth plans to play for a Division I team in college golf.

~ Blue Bell, PA Sheehan has shown he could play so far this year. Firing a two day total of 7 under at Turtle Creek GC and another two day total of 3 under at Hickory Valley GC. He is most confident with his 3 iron and he can hit numerous different shots with it which is why it is his favorite. When not golfing he likes to go fishing or just being outside. His favorite song right now is “Bumpin the Night” by Florida Georgia Line. His favorite course that he has played is Royal County Down or Waterville in Ireland and a course he would really like to play would be Pine Valley. In the future he would like to play college golf and eventually become a teaching professional.

~ Doylestown, PA Ryden is our current Boy’s 16-18 points leader with his 7 wins so far this year on the Junior Tour. He has 25 top 10 finishes this year beating the next best by 4. His favorite club in his bag would be his 60 degree wedge because it is a versatile club that he can always control. When he is not golfing he enjoys hanging out with friends. His favorite song right now is “Remember Me” by Matthew Parker. His favorite golf course that he ever has played would be Kapalua in Maui, he would like to play Augusta National at some point in his life. He hopes to play college golf in the future and hopefully make it to the PGA Tour.
