CHINA EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO El arte en China tiene una tradición pictórica de milenios, donde el blanco papel de arroz y la negra tinta han sido los materiales básicos con los que se desarrollaron técnicas de gran sofisticación. La escultura también logra una alta maestría en el uso de los diversos materiales, desde la porcelana al jade, del bronce al hueso, del formato monumental a la miniatura. Podemos asegurar que del bordado a la arquitectura, en China se desarrollaron tecnologías únicas que luego llegarían al resto del mundo. La cultura china tuvo un desarrollo constante desde su inicio y a través de las dinastías que la gobernaron, enriquecida por la amalgama de sus distintos pueblos, y es durante la revolución de 1949 que cambia de dirección, enfocándose en lo colectivo para la transformación del país. La historia y la vida vuelve a dar otro giro con la muerte de Mao Zedong, El Gran Timonel, y la posterior apertura hacia Occidente, lo que permite la entrada a ideas diferentes que, junto con su fuerte raíz, irán gestando la China actual. El arte contemporáneo chino nace al público en los años 80 como un movimiento que busca la expresión individual. En 1989 se hace en el Museo Nacional de Arte de China la primera gran exposición de arte contemporáneo, donde se congregaron 600 obras producidas por 180 artistas y que se convertiría en un hito en el que la experimentación y el concepto buscaban crear el futuro, y de la que se desprende el asombroso desarrollo de sus artistas. Hay que decir que no es casual que la mayoría de las obras presentadas en esta exposición hayan sido creadas por mujeres. La fuerza de las propuestas de las artistas, arraigada en su propia experiencia, su voz y sobre todo su cuerpo, engarzada a la vez en la tradición y en la ruptura, impulsa una callada revolución que busca el futuro a través de su presente y de su trabajo dentro del arte, con discursos particulares que dialogan con la obra y la visión de sus pares masculinos. CHINA A CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION Art in China has a millennia-long pictorial tradition, where white rice paper and black ink have been the basic materials, allowing the development of highly sophisticated techniques. The sculpture also achieves high mastery in the use of various materials, from porcelain to jade, from bronze to bone, from monumental to miniature formats. We can assure you that, from embroidery to architecture, many unique technologies were developed in China, that later would reach –and enrich– the rest of the world. Chinese culture had a constant development since its inception and through the dynasties that ruled it, developed by the amalgamation of its different peoples, and it is during the 1949 revolution that changed direction, focusing on the collective for the transformation of the country. History and life took another turn with the death of Mao Zedong, The Great Helmsman, and the subsequent opening to the western civilization, a process that allowed different ideas inflowing the country and, together with her strong roots, would gestate today's China. Chinese contemporary art was born to the public in the 80s as a movement seeking individual expression instead the communal established by the revolution. The first major contemporary art exhibition was opened at the National Museum of Art of China in February 1989. Six hundred artworks produced by one hundred and eighty artists were gathered and would become a milestone in which experimentation and concept sought to create the future, emerging from there the amazing development of her artists. In this exhibition it is not by chance that most of the works presented have been created by women. The strength of the artists' proposals, rooted in their own experience, their voice and especially their body, embedded in both tradition and rupture, drives a quiet revolution that seeks the future through its present and their own work within Art, with precise discourses that dialogue with the work and vision of their male peers and establish their position to the world. This series of artworks aims to offer a glimpse into artistic production in China today, hoping to open a gap so we all can acquire a better understanding of that country. May you enjoy it.
