Evasion of Military Surveillance
Conceal. Mask. Shield. CCTV cameras were introduced as a way of easing people’s conscience, and making them feel safe. The great presence of surveillance, from persistently invasive technology, has increased anxiety a considerable amount. Concerns have been made about how comfortable people are with giving away their personal data. Why give all your best-kept secrets away unknowingly? Counter surveillance needs to be put in place! George Orwell predicted the “Big Brother” nightmare, and the invasive attitude is making people rebel against security, and choosing to mask their identity. Converging art, tradition and technology, the new trend “Evasion of Military Surveillance” can be created. Facial-recognition algorithms rely on the symmetry and spatial relationship of key facial features. Disrupting this symmetry and relationship make it difficult to detect faces, making surveillance cameras easily avoidable. Blocking parts of the face with contrasting colours breaks up the continuity of the face, concealing their identity. For centuries, tribes have camouflaged their faces and painted their bodies with bold, bright paints, believed to hold magic powers for protection. This trend welcomes the idea of concealing to safeguard your privacy, with new make-up trends, hairstyles and wearable fashion. Iridescent materials obscure and mask characters, by reflecting the opponent’s image back at himself or herself. Characters wear thick, deep, dark colours- cloudy greys, rustic reds and matte leather blacks, to repel attention, and attract protection. The new generation need to know the ancient idea behind privacy, and not the norm they have been brought up in; they need the anti-drone! opposite: The faces are distorted and blurred to regain the models characteristics.

POLARITY PARADOX
. .
The Botanical Reptile
Imagine a picturesque landscape admix with fiery reds, crisp burnt orange and caramelized yellow sky, rolling with the chalky blue clouds. Imagine the powder blue and pink flecks reflecting from the light from the leather-scaled reptile basking in the scorching summer heat. Reptiles have the most unique, but appealing texture, and can range from dark, leather looking coloured scales, to iridescent, and light reflecting scales. Each reptile has a different print, formed in a variety of ways- tubercular, platelike and overlapping scales. Although many people think reptiles are slimy and course, they have a much deeper appeal; their scales may be made in an array of ways, but they resemble artistic mosaics, with their perfect symmetry and bold, vibrant colours.
The new trend “Botanical Reptile conjures mixes of fresh greens and rustic reds from the natural environment, and the mosaic symmetry of reptiles. The colours are vibrant and stand out, and the patterns and prints add dimensions to surfaces, whether that be on the skin, or in fashion. Nothing is more appealing than knowing that nature can create hues of perfection, and can compliment them with elements of raw beauty, and textures. Why take inspiration from the radiant colours of nature, when you can physically branch out, and take inspiration from the lengthy olive green reeds, and the sharp lines from thorns? Why wear real reptile-skin, when you can trace their scales onto your face and body, to create your own mystical skin texture?
