RAMADAN THE MONTH OF FASTING FOR MUSLIMS
F
asting during the month of Ramadan, is one of the five pillars of Submission (Islam in Arabic). In the month of Ramadan, submitters muslims fast from dawn to sunset if able. While fasting (seyam / saum / sawm) during Ramadan, the individual refrains from eating and drinking and practices continence. It is a time of worship and contemplation
and to fulfill God's commands and grow one's soul. A time to strengthen family and community ties, and be on our best behaviour. Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you
7
who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to express your appreciation. God knows how to get our attention. He knows that the distractions of our daily lives frequently all provisions are given by God alone, and that all creatures are provided for. What peace to know this, without doubt. And how easily we take it for granted keep us from remembering Him "while standing, sitting, or lying on our side." We strive to do our best as we go through our days with the realization that!
Many medical professionals recognize that fasting is beneficial to our health. It provides a break in the cycle of rigid habits and gives some of our internal organs muchneeded rest. However, in our emphasis on refraining from food, drink, and marital relations during the daylight hours, we should not forget many other important aspects of this sacred time. Perhaps, it would help us to remember not only the physical act of fasting, but also its underlying purpose.
8
Fasting in general has been used in medicine for medical reasons including weight management, for rest of the digestive tract and for lowering lipids. There are many adverse effects of total fasting as well as so-called crash diets. Islamic fasting is different from such diet plans because in Ramadan fasting, there is no malnutrition or inadequate calorie intake. The caloric intake of Muslims during Ramadan is at or slightly below the national requirement guidelines. In addition, the fasting in Ramadan is voluntarily taken and is not a prescribed imposition from the physician. Ramadan is a month of self-regulation and self-training, with the hope that this training will last beyond the end of Ramadan. If the lessons learned during Ramadan, whether in terms of dietary intake or righteousness, are carried on after Ramadan,
9
Ramadan, it is beneficial for one's entire life. Moreover, the type of food taken during Ramadan does not have any selective criteria of crash diets such as those which are protein only or fruit only type diets. Everything that is permissible is taken in moderate quantities. The only difference between Ramadan and total fasting is the timing of the food; during Ramadan, we basically miss lunch and take an early breakfast and do not eat until dusk. Abstinence from water during this period is not bad at all and in fact, it causes concentration of all fluids within the body, producing slight dehydration. The body has its own water conservation mechanism; in fact, it has been shown that slight dehydration and water
conservation, at least in plant life, improve their longevity. The physiological effect of fasting includes lower of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension. In 1994 the first International Congress on "Health and Ramadan," held in Casablanca, entered 50 research papers from all over the world, from Muslim and non-Muslim researchers who have done extensive studies on the medical ethics of fasting. While improvement in many medical conditions was
10
conditions was noted; however, in no way did fasting worsen any patients' health or baseline medical condition. On the other hand, patients who are suffering from severe diseases, whether diabetes or coronary artery disease, kidney stones, etc., are exempt from fasting and should not try to fast. There are psychological effects of fasting as well. There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. ... This psychological improvement could be related to better stabilization of blood glucose during fasting as hypoglycemia after eating, aggravates behavior changes. ... Similarly, recitation of the Quran not only produces a tranquility of heart and mind, but improves the memory.

Internet is no longer for some special class only but everyone can have access to it through smart phone, mobile phone, laptops and computes. In the age of 1980's,it is believed the reasonable time when the internet was in use properly, and with the advancement of generation it turn into well known and fashionable and now a days it is like a brain. There is so much happening on
the Internet during a year that it's impossible to capture it, according to the last year Internet population has grown enormously. The Internet was designed with the assumption that the communications links could not be trusted, but that the people that connected computers to the Internet were smart and trustworthy, but this assumption is no longer apply. Now what will happen if Internet crashes? It is not wrong if it is said “It is the end of the word” Many of us must be thinking exactly and it is not very shocking because we are so much dependent on Internet now a days as we had never been before. Many peoples lose their job, alot of companies would be destroyed, and the peoples would be put again in old ages which is said the STONE AGE.

SHIVANI NAOMI SARSTHI

W
e have heard about beauty and talent but it's rare to see in life but EMAL which always try to bring something new to their audience, so as it did by exposing Shivani Naomi Sarsthi the Canadian Model and Film maker a women with many talents. Shivani was born in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. She first began modeling in 2005 where she was approached and asked to audition for a runway show, while studying in her university library. She took part in a small fashion show, which then lead an exclusive request by a few designers for their clothing line. She was one of the 53 contestants chosen for Miss Universe Canada in 2006, where she competed in Montreal,
50
Quebec. Simultaneously, she was casted as a lead actress for the filming of an independent film in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout her university studies she continued to model in Vancouver and in 2010 had her first international runway show in Paris, for the semi-annual Paris Fashion Week.
51
Being exposed to the world of modeling and the business of fashion, Shivani began taking an interest in some of the controversial aspects of the fashion world. Over the past year
she traveled to the four fashion capitals, Milan, Paris, London. and New York. With no background in film, she decided to obtain footage for a documentary in which she will produce into a film on the fashion and modeling industry.
52
She speaks beautifully while talking when Emal asks How would you explain about your family?
My family is a lot of fun. They make me smile and I am lucky to have them all. I often miss them a lot when I leave my hometown Vancouver. I come from a mixed background where my mother is Indian and my Father is BritishCaucasian. I had a diverse upbringing and I am grateful to have both of my parents support towards my creative passions. My mother tends to be the more strict and overprotective parent, especially when I travel alone. My father is always very supportive and helps to remind me, that “most new experiences, are good experiences. So, try new things. The balance of both of my parents has provided me with the confidence to carry out creative pursuits mixed with some logic!
53
What is your favorite subject in school?
The Science of Life, which I study everyday! In my University studies I majored in Cell & Molecular Biology. I really enjoyed Cell Biology as I found myself often applying the theories to daily life. The creation of beings made from simple basic units and the interconnectedness the world we live in. What is your favorite food?
Pakistani food made in London. It's the best! I love the flavors and authentic mix of spices. I used to love eating in Brick Lane while living in London, last year. What is your favoriteTV show?
I don't watch television but when I do, I like watching Food Network Canada. The way food is described so passionately makes me happy. Most of all I love the presentation of food as art and table setting dĂŠcor. It excites me!
54
When you started your career as a model?
It was when I was 21 years old, I was studying in the library and was asked by a friend to audition for a runway show in Vancouver. I was nervous and didn't know how to even do the 'runway' walk. They chose 12 girls out of 60 and I turned out to be one of them. I later started to enjoy the 'rush' that I got being on the runway. Strong, confident and fearless, and ready to take on the world! I also really loved the progressive trance music often used in the shows. With whom you want to work if asked?
Elie Saab, my favorite Lebanese designer, based in Paris. In my opinion, his craftstmanship, dedication and elegant styles really stand out to me. He knows a woman's body better than she knows herself. All of his runway shows and ad campaigns are m a s t e r p i e c e s a n d t r u l y, untouchable.
55
What makes you think that you should go In Film Making?
I have always been interested in the art of film, stills and putting together a film that captures an audience and allows them to create their own meaning. Films such as this, are a great honor in the ever changing world that we live in. I became very passionate over the years of modeling seeing many things that I felt were fundamentally wrong. In addition, I felt helpless in the sense that I also cannot change the industry. I decided to work on this documentary to shed some light for others entering the field of modeling, as well as for parents with young daughters. The film explores different controversial issues like, modeling agency scams, exploitation of models by photographers, eating disorders and the pressures to stay thin, and drug abuse of models. The film will also show fashion as an expressive art and the many beautiful sides of creativity. What are the recent projects you are working at?
I am currently working on additional r e s e a r c h a n d f o o t a g e f o r my documentary film about of the Fashion and Modeling Industry.
56
I have also began learning how to DJ which I have been wanting to do forever! I love music so much and it is the one consistent thing that has got me through life when times were hard. I have relocated to Dubai where I am continuing with some other personal projects. I will also be returning to Paris this September modeling for Paris fashion week. Any advice you want to give to new emerging talents.
Follow your passion in life. Period. Listen to yourself only. More often then not, you know the answers. To master the art of patience is to master yourself, truly. This involves not forcing things and having the patience to allow them to unfold, as they should, in the right time.
57
How you comes to know about Emal?
I came across Emal and when I was first introduced to its main Founder and owner Mr M u h a m m a d Wa q a s w h o established his company MWR World and this magazine worldwide . I definitely feel this magazine will bring Eastern flavor into the world at an accelerated pace. It's recent expansion into Norway has also been huge. Bringing forth fashion from Pakistan and
other south east Asian countries is exciting as there is so much talent that needs t o b e aw a ke n e d a n d introduced to the world. I love the Pakistani and Indian textiles and have enjoyed seeing the designers from this area expand into the Western world. I hope Emal gains the global expansion it deserves to also empower young women of Pakistan to embrace and follow their creative passions.

STRATEGIES FOR SLOW LEARNERS
f your child struggles in one or more areas of school, he or she may be a slow learner. What can we do for slow learners? The point of this conversation is to emphasize that slow learners are not dumb. They probably differ little from other students in terms of their p o t e n t i a l . Intelligence can be changed. I fully believe that these students can catch up, but it must be acknowledged that they are far behind, and that catching up will take enormous effort. How can we help? Slow learners are students who've progressed normally in the developmental areas of physical dexterity, social ap t i t u d e a n d c o n c re t e thinking ability, but who
consistently struggle in one or more school subjects. These children usually don't display learning disabilities; however, they take more time than their peers to acquire abstract thinking and reading skills. They may struggle with multiple-step instructions, standardized achievement tests and self-esteem. As with any student, slow learners are capable of mastering new concepts with concentration and practice; however, they may need extra time for review. Consider hiring a private tutor to work on homework assignments with your child after school. One-on-one assistance may help your child stay on-track with his or her homework and strengthen
64
the development of an effective learning style. A professional tutor may have experience working with slow learners. Alternatively, you can also hire or ask a high school student to tutor your child. Children enjoy working with teenagers, and a high school student's manner of speech may help your child pick up unfamiliar concepts with greater speed. Your local high school may have a list of students available for tutoring or offer a mentoring program. Eating breakfast and getting enough sleep are two factors that have been shown to encourage learning. A least amount of strain at home also can promote an environment without disruptions, which
many slow learners need when they're working on homework assignments. Provide a quiet place for your son or daughter to study where he or she can easily communicate with you. Organize your child's homework sessions into brief periods that allow time for review. When he or she has completed a new assignment, suggest a fun activity that relates to the concepts just learned. Free math and verbal games are available online in a variety of topics. Your child might also enjoy painting a picture or performing a theatrical skit related to the learned concepts. Allowing for variety within your child's homework sessions may reinforce his or her capacity for recall. Offer your child choices during homework sessions. You might ask him or her to order
65
h o m ewo r k a s s i g n m e n t s , choose a scratch paper color or propose an activity to do once the homework period is over. When your child feels a degree of self-sufficiency with his or her schoolwork, he or she is more likely to vigorously engage in educational activities. Allot one or two activities per homework assignment that highlight your child's strengths. Speak with his or her teacher about minimizing the amount of problems he or she must complete per homework assignment to enhance a feeling of self-accomplishment. Make sure to give your child enough time to think through homework problems; it's helpful if he or she doesn't feel speechless by a time constraint. Before bed, review the
concepts your child has worked on that day.Ask him or her questions about school topics. Explaining concepts aloud may improve your slow learner's ability for recollection and articulation. Finally, consider taking your child to lively places where academic skills are used outside the classroom, such as an aquarium or a local university event. If you expect that your slow learner will eventually grow out of his academic challenges, your child may feel your lack of acceptance of his or her present condition. It's helpful for your child to feel supported by you, regardless of the pace at which he or she learns. According to Jere Brophy's book Motivating Students to Learn, students with high levels of selfconfidence learn with greater
66
ease than children who are overwhelmed by anxiety or a fear of failure. Remember that your child is unique. No formulaic approach may work, but with your love and your commitment, your child will be best able to reach all of their own unique potential as a uniquely valuable human being – and make you proud of how much they have and will achieve.

he title "Man of Steel" tells you what you're in for w h e n you buy a ticket to this immense summer blockbuster a radical break from the past. The absence of the word "Superman" tips us off that this new picture is less a standard reboot than a top-to-bottom re-imagining. Whether you approve of the result will depend on what you think Superman is, or should be. Either way, this is a 2013 version of the story: big, dark, convoluted and It's goodhearted and sincere but not particularly funny or
sweet. It's Superman all butched-up, alienated and frustrated, chiseled and hunky but not inclined toward cour tly romance , defending a planet so terrified by conspiratorial evil and apocalypse threats that it figures anyone who presents himself as good guy must have ulterior motives. Steel is what you need to have in your spine if you're going to be super in this world. A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young

man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. Right from the start, Man of Steel trumps expectations. The first 15-20 minutes of Snyder's film shows us a Krypton we've never seen before, a world torn by civil war, and though the planet's fate is certainly sealed well before the Warner Brothers logo even appears, it
shows us a series of space battles that amp the suspense to the highest magnitude. This is Snyder's Star Wars in the opening moments. The grand scale visuals aren't necessarily what make Man of Steel the best Superman movie, but definitely the biggest. Directed by Zack Snyder ( " Wa t c h m e n , " " S u c k e r Punch") and overseen by p r o d u c e r- f i l m m a k e r Christopher Nolan (the Dark Knight trilogy, "Inception"),

the movie delivers on the promise of its title and then some. "Man of Steel" largely abandons the sunny spirit, sly charm and kooky humor of the Christopher Reeve-starred '70s and '80s films as well as Bryan Singer's dutiful homage to them, 2006's reviled "Superman Returns".

commit suicide because of her slow career, but the reality is still not exposed. Below is her mother's letter when she found suicide letter of Jiah Khan.
belonging to Jiah when she was searching for some poems written by Jiah to be read out at her prayer meeting.
To a l l c o n c e r n e d , Some sections of the media and some film industry people are speculating that my daughter Jiah committed suicide because of depression related to her career. However, the truth is that it happened only because of the trauma and the abuse she suffered at the hands of Sooraj Panscholi and his father Aditya Panscholi .
Her mother decided to make this letter public so that everyone may know the truth behind her daughter's tragedy.
Jiah shared with her sisters and also from this letter written by Jiah herself that I am attaching here with which was found three days later by my younger daughter in a wallet box

Below given is a transcript of Jiah's letter: Yours truly Rabiya Khan “I don't know how to say this to you but I might as well now as I have nothing to lose. I've already lost everything. If you're reading this I might have already left or about to leave. I am broken inside. You may not have known this but you affected me deeply to a point where I lost myself in loving you.Yet you tortured me every day. These days I see no light I wake up not wanting to wake up.There was a time I saw my life with you, a future with you. But you shattered my dreams. I feel dead inside. I've never given so much of myself to someone or cared so much. You returned my love with cheating and lies. It didn't matter how many gifts I gave you or how beautiful I looked for you. I was scared of getting pregnant but I gave myself completely the pain you have caused me everyday has destroyed every bit of me, destroyed my soul. I can't eat or sleep or think or function. I am running away from everything. The career is not even worth it anymore. When I first met you I was driven, ambitious and disciplined. Then I fell for you, a love I thought would bring out the best in me. I don't know why destiny brought us together. After all the pain, the rape, the abuse, the torture I have seen previously I didn't deserve this. I didn't see any

love or commitment from you. I just became increasingly scared that you would hurt me mentally or physically. Your life was about partying and women. Mine was you and my work. If I stay here I will crave you and miss you. So I am kissing my 10-year career and dreams goodbye. I never told you but I received a message about you.About you cheating on me. I chose to ignore it, decided to trust you.You embarrassed me. I never went out; I never went with anyone else. I am a loyal person. I never met anyone with Karthik I just wanted you to feel how you make me feel constantly. No other woman will give you as much as I did or love you as much as I did. I can write that in my blood.Things were looking up for me here, but is it worth it when you constantly feel the pain of heartbreak when the person you love wants to abuse you or threatens o hit you or cheats on you telling other girls they are beautiful or throws you out of their house when you have nowhere to go and you've come to them out of love or when they lie to your face or they make you chase after them in their car. Or disrespects their family. You never even met my sister. I bought your sister presents. You tore my soul. I have no reason to breathe anymore. All I wanted was love. I did everything for you. I was working for us. But you were n e v e r m y p a r t n e r .

My future is destroyed my happiness snatched away from me. I always wished the best for you, was ready to invest what little money I had in your betterment. You never appreciated my love, kicked me in the face. I have no confidence or self esteem left, whatever talent whatever ambition you took it all away. You destroyed my life. It hurt me so much that I waited for you for ten days and you didn't bother buying me something. The Goa trip was my birthday present but even after you cheated I still spent on you. I aborted our baby when it hurt me deeply. You destroyed my Christmas and my birthday dinner when I came back. When I tried my hardest to make your birthday special, you chose to be away from me on Valentine's Day.You promised me once we made it to one year we would get engaged. All you want in life is partying, your women and your selfish motives. All I wanted was you and my happiness you took both away from me. I spent money on you selflessly you would throw in my face. When I would cry for you. I have nothing left in this world to live for a f t e r t h i s . I wish you had loved me like I loved you. I dreamt of our future. I dreamt f our success. I leave this place with nothing but broken dreams and empty promises. All I
