Dear Audience, Virtual theatre. That is a phrase that I had never heard of or imagined five months ago. Enter Covid-19 and a global pandemic. The need to remain safely distanced from one another has forced theatres across the world to cancel productions and close their physical doors. But the world still needs theatre. We still need to tell stories, to connect, to experience things together. Theatre is about human connection. How can we continue to explore the human experience and express our creativity while we are separated? Well, by adapting and finding ways for our shows to go online, just like this. And so Virtual theatre was born. This brand new artform is being explored and invented with many different theatre groups globally. I love that virtual theatre enables us to remain connected and to stretch our creative muscles. It also enables us to work with cast and crew from anywhere. In this production alone we have participants from PA, MD, CA, and NY. When I was writing this play, I wanted to write something fun, entertaining, and that would make sense for the characters to be separated. Something I love about live theatre is hearing the audience discuss the show during intermission and after the show ends. I set out to recreate this by breaking this show into three parts or installments. After each installment you will be encouraged to comment on the video and on social media to discuss theories and thoughts about the mysteries found in this play. I hope that you will enjoy TAFE’s first exploration into the world of creating a virtual show. I am so proud of this cast and crew for joining me in this exploration. Thank you for your continued support of theatre. While we anxiously await the ability to return to the physical stage, we are thrilled to be able to share our passions with you virtually. Your support during this virtual time ensures that we will be able to return to the live medium that we all love when it is safe to do so. Enjoy the show, Paige Hoke Director and Playwright
