The EAHM University Magazine is back with a new edition, bringing you all the latest news and updates from the EAHM community. And we have so much to share!
Oneofthehighlightsisthearrivalofanew cohort of BBA students at the Academy. Congratulations on your first step towards the exciting hospitality industry. With Dubai's goal of attracting 40 million international visitors by 2031, there will be numerous opportunities for well-educated young professionals to make a difference in the hospitality and related fields. The industry is embracing the next level of technology, sustainability, personalized data-driven experiences, and the next generation of creative young hospitality professionals will play a major role in shapingthefuture.
This was evident at the highly successful first edition of the Future Leaders Challenge (FLC) held at EAHM in January. Over 150 top talents from the MEA region joined us, presenting their visions for the future of the hospitality industry to a panel of industry leaders, presidents, and CEOs. The presentations and ideas were truly inspiring and well received. Our very own second-year student, Mwai, was part of the winning team! We're eagerly anticipating the next, bigger and bolder edition early nextyear,sostaytuned!

Our Senior Lecturer, Helen Morris, delivered consumer behaviour and entrepreneurship courses and grabbed the opportunity to invite guest speakers and the region's entrepreneurial specialists as part of the classroom learning. Experts such as the Senior Creative Director at Arada and our very own alumni Sarah Shahin, Brand & Social Media Consultant and Conrad Sokolnicki, Senior Manager Quality & Brand at Rove Hotels were also welcome to provide further insight to our students and serve as great examples of the industry.
EAHM students shine at the Future Hospitality Summit!
EAHM was not only part of the Future Hospitality Summit, but initiated its first Student Leadership Workshop in partnership with The Bench at Madinat Jumeirah.
EAHM students, Fadia Tabani and Yuvraj Bhagtani, acted as Panel Moderators for the 'Lead The Change' discussion.
It was inspiring to see the top leaders of the hospitality industry share their insights and stories about how we can grow as hoteliers to provide a better experience for our customers.
L&D Network Meetup
EAHM hosted the L&D Network Meetup with the Learning and Development Heads of top hotels in the UAE. During this fruitful event, our guests had the opportunity to network, share best practices and discover more about what EAHM has to offer in terms of short courses to support the industry.
New beginnings with Emirates Down Syndrome Association
Our management team paid a successful visit to the Emirates Down Syndrome Association where they met the Founder of EDSA - Dr Manal Jaroor and the CEO of EDSA - Mrs Salma Kanan,
putting in place the curriculum that will equip the people of determination with down syndrome with soft and hard hospitality skills within an academic environment.
The first cohort began on the 27th January with 10 students.
EAHM is the first higher education institution in the UAE to co-create a programme in hospitality for people of determination with down syndrome, providing those passionate individuals with the opportunity to unlock their full potential with endless possibilities in the hospitality field.
Hospitality programme with the Red Sea Development Company
EAHM delivered a four-week programme in 'Hospitality Design Management' to a group of 54 Senior Designers from The Red Sea Development Company coming together to reflect on Hospitality Design, where more than 9 hotel groups are launching new innovative and sustainable resorts concepts as part of the design of a new future-proof Destination.
Held in Riyadh and on-site, the objective of the training included a close alignment with the 2030 Vision for Saudi Arabia, changing its economic fundamentals to a service-based economy, of which The Red Sea Development Company will act as one of the key pillars.
With the support of THE-ICE (International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education), EAHM hosted the 15th edition of the IPOE Forum 2022 which faculty coming from around the world to discuss how we as part of the hospitality industry can progress and provide better learning opportunities for the future talent.
The three-day event consisted of panel discusssions, networking opportunities, visit to the Museum of the Future and EAHM receiving a Recognition of Excellence attaining #1 ranking on the THE-ICE I-graduate Student Satisfaction Global Index 2022 in categories such as "Academic Quality", "Career Development", "Learning Spaces (or infrastructure)" and embracing "Multiculturalism" in its academic programmes.
EAHM Graduation 2022
EAHM celebrated 48 graduates from 23 countries on November 18, 2022. They were awarded BBA and MBA degrees at a ceremony in the newly refurbished Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, at the heart of Madinat Jumeirah.
The ceremony was attended by EAHM’s esteemed dignitaries, honoured guests, EAHM faculty and staff and families of the graduands.
The Chief Operating Officer of Jumeirah Group, Thomas B. Meier, delivered the keynote address at the event, along with EAHM’s managing director Jeroen Greven, who highlighted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s incredible vision for reaching 40 million new hotel guests in Dubai by as early as 2031.
With the aim to tackle challenges in the hospitality and tourism industry and make the MEA region the best talent developer in the world, the Challenge presented the best of the students from various universities that came together to present their initiatives.
EAHM was honoured to co-found this challenge alongside GameChangers and Hilton and also host around 60 students from 12 global schools for the live finals of this competition that took place from 16-18 January, 2023.
Congratulations to the winning team of the MEA – Future Leaders Challenge for their unique ideation and solution to tackle hospitality challenges along with exceptional delivery, research and hardwork!
Welcome Back with a Mexican twist!
LUMINA DINNER
With a turnout of 37 guests from various hospitality groups, retailers and fine food distributors as well as media guests from Hotelier Middle East/ Caterer Middle East and Dubai Eye 103.8, this event not only showcased the art of culinary but also exposed the newly discovered skill set of our students that assisted in preparing the dishes and serving them with poise.
Many thanks to Chef Mark Reynolds, Matt Owens and Michael Kitts for sharing their expertise and enlightening our students and the guests with the knowledge of great produce and the world of culinary.
Counselor's Discovery Day
Rounding up the first of our Counselor's Discovery Day where we invited our school counselors from around the world to visit our campus, listen to our students and alumni and see what their experience has been as part of the programme, They attended various workshops such as Design Thinking and LinkedIn and also had an exclusive visit to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

EAHM was proud to host Jumeirah Group's CHRO, Ms Ellen Dubois du Bellay who brings more than 25 years of experience as a senior HR leader to thecompanyandwasmostrecentlya founding partner of Inside Out International, a consultancy collective working with companies across the globe to drive performance through people.
Hosted by our Student Council President, Chinwendu Enebeli, we learnt many aspects of Ellen's career journey and her views of the hospitality world and trends.

The EAHM’s library and online resources offer more than 44,000 publications within 9 electronic databases in the field of Hospitality, Tourism and Business Management to support studentsintheirlearningandprojects. It is constantly expanding the resources, with simulations, asynchronous and innovative hybrid pedagogical instruments, suitablefortherapidlyevolvinglearningenvironment.
Recently, our Dean and our Senior Librarian, Ms Scolah Kazi, hostedMrVivekChachraandMrDviweshMehtafromHarvard Business Publishing (HBP) to discuss the possibility of providing access to HBP course materials including case studies, simulations, and articles designed to grow learners’ business knowledgeandprofessionalskills.

Successes of EAHM Faculty
With great pleasure, EAHM would like to applaud our very own Chef Michael Kitts, Director of Culinary Arts at EAHM, for winning The International Cooking Competition with Dates, Date Products and EVOO at the Liwa Date Festival and Auction!
The competition required him to prepare Emirati-inspired gourmet dishes alongside other international chefs from hotels and restaurants over the course of three days.
