BUSINESS EDUCATION AT FAU, SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS In this bulletin, we will share some information about our partner FriedrichAlexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Germany and their degree program in Business Education at the School of Business and Economics.
The School of Business and Economics at FAU is at the heart of one of Germany’s most important economic regions. The courses and lectures take place in the center of Nuremberg and the students learn right on the business and social pulse of this thriving metropolis. The location puts students within reach of global companies, renowned service providers and cutting-edge think tanks.
What is Business Education? The bachelor in Business Education focuses on basic knowledge in macro- and microeconomics, legal foundations as well as mathematics for two to three semesters. After this so called “assessment period” students will decide on their major field of studies, which may be Business Education.
Students of Business Education are educated to start a career right after finishing their bachelor’s degree and about 50 % of all Business Education students do so.
Another option is to add another two years of master studies in the field of Business Education. A master’s degree in Business Education and H u m a n Resource
Development opens an even broader range of careers, including the option of qualifying for a career in teaching in the vocational school system in Germany.
The master’s degree in Business Education and Human Resource Develoment Within the master’s programme of Business Education and Human Resource Development students are educated for a career to work in various fields. The programme emphasizes on staff work, operational education and further education as well as human resources development. Students acquire a deeper insight into various principles of didactics, professionalize their abilities for teaching lessons and proceed in their studies of Business Administration.
The programme combines economic-scientific content, economic-educational as well as society-scientific and arts contents. Within the integrative education, students can choose their individual focus from two fields of studies.
While one field focuses on merely economic-educational and economic-scientific contents, the second option combines economic-educational and economicscientific contents with general education subjects. Subjects students may choose from are Informatics, English, French, Spanish, German, Social Studies, mathematics, sports or religious education.
With a master ’s degree in Business Education, career opportunities are manifold: Graduates work as teachers in the vocational school system school, as educational professional in enterprises, as trainers or Human Resource professionals in multinational enterprises, and all kind of professions in the field of operational education, vocational education, the German Dual Education System, the field of continuing education and personnel development.
