Tra pochi mesi, l’ascensore più veloce del mondo vi farà toccare il cielo con un dito al One World Observatory, l’ultimo piano del grattacielo più alto d’America (541 metri). Ma non solo, perché New York City è pronta a fare il pieno di novità per il 2015. Si va dalla nuova sede del Whitney Museum of American Art progettata dall’archistar Renzo Piano, al completamento del percorso sopraelevato High Line at the Rail Yards, fino all’inaugurazione del Trump Golf Links (da 18 buche) al Ferry Point Park, con una spettacolare vista sullo skyline di Manhattan. Obiettivo? Battere il record di 54,3 milioni di visitatori di cui 464mila dall’Italia (con una spesa media a persona di $1.325), che conferma la sua posizione di 7° mercato internazionale per la città (dati www.nycgo.com al 2013).

In a few months, the fastest elevator in the world is ready to make you touch the sky with a finger at One World Observatory on the top floor of the tallest building in America (541 meters). But NYC is ready to welcome all the news of 2015. From the new building of the Whitney Museum of American Art designed by the archistar Renzo Piano, to the completion of the elevated rail line of High Line at the Rail Yards, until the opening of the Trump Golf Links, 18-hole golf course at Ferry Point Park, with spectacular views over the Manhattan skyline, the East River, Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge. The goal? To break the record of 54.3 million visitors, of which 464 thousand from Italy (with an average cost of $1,325 per person), confirming its position as the 7th international market for the city (nycgo.com 2013 data).

E infine dal Carnevale in piazza arriviamo alla Pasqua con la processione del Venerdì Santo che all’imbrunire, e accompagnata solo dalla luce di centinaia di candele, attraversa la città in un silenzio che tocca il cuore.

There is a breathtaking landscape framed by the Etna covered with snow, there is the sun that still and always invites you to take a walk by the sea, there is a historical centre free of the summer confusion and enjoyable in every corner...And then there is Taormina as ever, with its classical and modern hotels and with starred restaurants (Michelin) and chiocciolati (Slow Food) and with the hospitality typical of people from Taormina. And winter as well is full of events. Classical music and opera concerts into the churches and the theatres of the city, exhibitions and then of course Christmas with its markets and CioccolArt the ‘Chocolate Festival’, now in its sixth edition. And after the Christmas spirit here comes February with the blooming almond trees and the air already announcing the spring and the many weddings that Italians and foreigners choose to celebrate in Taormina. And finally from carnival we get to the Easter procession of Good Friday that at dusk crosses the city in a silence that touches your heart accompanied only by the light of hundreds of candles.
