Day 9
Knowing but Not Judging My Dark Side
On this 9th day of Authenticity, identify your dark side — the negative qualities and misfortune that cause you to be more reactive and harder for you to be at One. Refer to the Day 8 activity, as our light side, taken to extremes by stress, often contributes to our dark side. Also, describe how you will not judge your dark side and set limits to minimize the suffering it causes you and others.
My dark side is that once I have something in my mind, I can’t let go of it. I’m obsessive. Also, I am stubborn and like to be right. My parents divorced when I was eight years old, and all the trauma back then is still causing me to overreact and distance.
My most problematic qualities are that I can be so creative that I am chaotic and don’t finish projects, and I stay friends with people without boundaries and give too much in relationships. I comfort myself with food, a habit that started at age 12 when I developed large breasts one summer and boys started staring at me. I have not yet committed to crushing my food and body wires.
Note three aspects of your dark side and how you will be aware of them, not judge them, and set limits with them.
