Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)
2013 CADILLAC SRX In these days of specialty vehicles the new Cadillac SRX is something special. The 2013 model we tested the other week simply has great flowing hard lines and the air dam chrome cladding on the side really gives you the look of the 70s. The Premium Collection edition has a massive look up front with a deep slanted grille and projection lamps headlights. The Cadillac in sigma makes it clear of the good looks will follow. This Cadillac has 65 per cent of its part from Mexico with only 26 per cent from the United States and Canada. The final assembly point for thIS Caddy is Ramos Arizpe, CZ Mexico with the engine from Mexico and the
transmission from the United States. The overall styling is enhanced by a smooth rear slant with fancy side body designs. Yes you might have guessed we were really impressed with this model and it may be showing. But the most fun of it all was getting behind the wheel, a sporty looking layout with contoured seats makes the driver feel it’s time to hit the race track. Yet you get a true sense of safety and comfort all rolled into one. Onstar is there in the event you need help and that certainly has to add to your overall safety feel. Since 1996 Onstar has answered over 346 Million calls for help. Power is provided by a proven 3.6 Liter direct injected V6
engine that produces 308 horsepower and 265 pound per foot of torque and yes it can tow up to 3,000 pounds also. Cadillac did a wonderful job of research and development before cranking out this product line. It shows in each of details and they still manage to keep the price around 50 Grand. Fuels economy is 17 miles in the city and 24 on the highway and the SRX is equipped with a 21 gallon tank. This front wheel drive vehicle really takes to the road with 20 inch All-Season tires circulating around a 20-inch aluminum premium painted bright finish wheel. You know how well that chrome shining bright looks on a bright sunny day. Kind of makes you want to drive by a building with glass side so you can see yourself as you go by. A Bose Surround Sound System with Sirius XM and HD radio greets you and let you know right out the bat you are in a good quality ride and the sounds are clear and precise. In addition to a solid sound sys-
tem you can get the optional Entertainment system rear seat dual screen blu ray player. Man, listening to my Tyrone Davis greatest hits CD sounds like you are in the recording studio listening on the headsets. Cue in vehicle user experience with touch screen controls takes you to another level in technology. Luxury convenience features are galore this model including heated steering wheel with steering column rake and telescoping. The pedals are adjustable and the driver and front passenger seats are heated and ventilated. The driver and front passenger seats are 8-way adjustable while the rear seats at 60/40 split fold and are heated. For those of you in the cold winter States Cadillac certainly thought of you. A Cadillac Shield protection warranty agreement includes 4year/50,000 mile bumper-to-

bumper warranty, 6-year/70,000 mile power train limited warranty, 4-year/50,000 mile premium care maintenance, 6-year/70,000 mile Courtesy transportation and 6 year/70,000 mile roadside assistance whichever comes first. That should tell you just how much Cadillac stands behind this vehicle and is confident in it holding its value. At the time of our test the NHTSA has rated the SRX for side crashes with 5-star rating and 4-star rating for rollover but we have no numbers on the frontal crashes and therefore we cannot give you an overall vehicle score. In closing please allow me to add the front and rear parking assist is another of the vehicle luxury features. Those chrome roof rails and exhaust tips just sets this baby off!

FORD EXPLORER SPORT 4WD SETTING NEW STANDARDS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View For many years the Ford Explorer had clearly been the best selling mid-size SUV and at one point you simply saw more of them on the road than any other product. Well that is getting to be the case all over again as the big automakers introduces the new 2013 restyled Ford Explorer Sport. A totally new redesigned interior giving it more of the Land Rover look and man let me tell you we almost didn’t know what it was when we say them pulling it into the driveway. A massive look front grille gives off more of rugged look, yet high center of gravity just in case you want to go off-road. The new Explorer Sport we tested came in Ruby
Red Metallic with roof rack and side rails plus rear spoiler. The body color LWR bedside cladding and my favorite chrome exhaust tips.
Under the hood of the new Explorer is a proven 3.5 Liter 285 horse powered V 6 engine. Rolling to the pavement on P 255R45 20-inch All-Season BSW tires wrapped around alloy wheels. Yes this baby is ready for the outdoors and still fancy enough to take out for a night on the town. Inside you are greeted by a fresh new interior but clearly keeping with Ford’s trend of having easy to read full-size gauges. Leather trimmed seats including a 10way power driver and front passenger setup. The third row seats
are 50/50 and fold flat to add to what is already outstanding cargo room. The steering wheel is leather wrapped and has cruise and audio controls while it also has tilt and telescopic features. With one-touch up/down driver and front passenger windows the new Explorer is on a roll when it comes to new features. Sounds comes from a Sony Audio system with a 390 watt/12-speaker system complete with Sirius SAT SVC and reverse sensing and rear view camera. Other functions include traction control as well as curve control speed control plus a six-speed SST with paddle shift. There is even terrain management system
with hill descent/ off-road mode and hill start assist and yes trailer sway control. Based on all of the above Ford certainly took time to plan this new product line and let me tell you this is a new Explorer from the ground up. Clearly home grown the Ford Explorer final assembly plant is in Chicago and it got good rating from the IIHS Top Safety Pick Award winner
Warranties for this new Ford are three year/36,000 bumper-tobumper and five-year/60,000 power train and five-year/60,000 roadside assist. The safety list is highlighted by advanced Trac with RSC and duel stage front airbags, front seat mounted side impact along with front passenger knew
airbags and a complete safety canopy. To round it off with SOS post crash alert system along with perimeter alarm and tire pressure monitor system. When it comes to NHTSA the new Explorer Sport gets a fourstar rating for the driver in frontal crashes while the front passenger get a five-star rating. Side crashes are rated at fivestar with both front and rear seat occupants while the vehicle gets a foir-star rating for rollover. This adds up to an OVERALL RATING OF 5-STAR when compared to other vehicles with similar size and weight. We feel we have said enough to get you to go down to the nearest Ford Dealership and go for a test drive in the new Ford Explorer Sport and we know you will be glad you did!.

CHEVY MALIBU LTZ IS AN ALL-AMERICAN VALUE
By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Moving into our 26th year of
test driving automobiles from an assorted array of automakers worldwide, we are very happy to do a report on the new Chevy Malibu. At one point and time the Malibu was clearly one of the true all-american sport cars. Well those happy days are here again as Chevy introduced the new Malibu LTZ for 2013. To begin with we found it to be a lot more fancy than the previous models and those hard lines really gives it a sporty and yes a more expensive look. Going back to the days when my brother Charlie had a 1972 model when the Malibu went from the muscle car to very economically
filled small coupe. Well it’s now a solid mid-size with economy out of this world. The vehicle is equipped with a new 2.0 Liter Turbo DOHC 4-cylinder SIDI with VVT. Let’s talk about this engine for a moment. Producing 259 horses and 260 pounds per foot of torque with a final drive ratio of 2.77 and has an 18 gallon fuel tank. It produces a combine 24 miles per gallon with 21 in the city and 30 on the highway. We know for a fact because during our weeklong test the vehicle never needed fuel and it was more than half full at the end of our week. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and both the engine and transmission are built right here in the United States. Fact is more than 62%
The 2013 Chevy Malibu LTZ
of this vehicle parts are from the U.S. and Canadian with the final assembly point being Kansas City, Kansas.
When it comes to warranties the new Malibu LTZ has a five-year, 100,000 mile power train limited warranty and please see dealers for more details. Some of the notable features include one of the most powerful in class engines combined with a new ride and handling package. This setup includes a four-link independent rear suspension. The Malibu also has a new expressive exterior and a more premium spacious interior.
Let me tell you people were really looking at it all week long down at work.
make me think back a few years. Yet this Malibu is far greater than the one we had by in 1972.
Safety comes in with high marks as well with five-star rating for overall vehicle score and fivestar rating driver in frontal crashes with four-star for front passenger. With side crashes the front seat gets four-star rating while the rear seats get five-star and four-star for rollover. All these numbers puts the Malibu at the top of the class according to NHTSA.
An optional entertainment system with a Pioneer Premium Sounds package with ninespeakers 250 watt amplifier and rear vision camera system continues to elevate the Malibu. Keep in mind our test vehicle complete with Aluminum 18inch wheels came in at just over $34,000.
For me it’s the new way the interior layout is what catches my eye. Smooth leather finish and the wrap around cockpit style with bucket seats really
In closing please allow me to add the LTZ package has EZ key passive entry system and push button start with keyless entry and even lane departure warning to name a few things.

NEW FORD FLEX LIMITED MAKING IT BIG By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Dallas, Texas-With the New Year coming in we took a trip to Big D behind the wheel of the new 2013 Ford Flex Limited AWD and man let me tell you just how good the ride is. The long wheel base makes for a smoother ride than most crossover vehicles and the new Flex you might say flexing it big time. With a 3.5 Liter 285 horsepower V6 Ecoboost engine under the hood drivers can find somewhere around 18 combine miles per gallon with a top of 23 miles per gallon on the highway. Mating this engine to a 6-speed select shift automatic transmission makes for a great marriage with smooth shifting and soft engine noises making for a more
comfortable ride. The power meets the road on P255/45R20 A/S BSW tires and that matched well with our test vehicle’s Ruby Red exterior color. May we add we truly put it to the test. Sporty both inside and out the new Flex captured many onlookers on our trip and strangely enough some people really didn’t know what it was but all they knew is they liked it. Inside you are greeted to a charcoal black leather interior and you know Ford has always brought you good clear and easy to read gauges and big driver friendly knobs. All this makes the vehicle so much more fun to drive. A power 10-way driver seat and 3rd row 50/50 bench with fold flat front facing in the
rear helps prepare you for all kind arrangements depending on the cargo for your trip. Sounds come from a Sony 390Watt 12-speaker audio system with Sirius Sat SVC, Sync service navigation system and blind spot information system complete with reverse sensing and rear view camera. Let me tell you Soul and Blues Legend Ernie Johnson never sound so great. Such features as overhead consoles and second row seat auto fold and refrigerated 2nd
In the area of Safety Ford kept the hit coming with a set of advance track with RSC dual stage air bags with mounted side impact air bags along with safety canopy along with SOS post crash alert system and tire monitoring system to boot. Warranties are 3-year/36,000 miles bumper/bumper with 5-
year 60,000 power train warranty and 5-year 60,000-roadside assistance. All of this comes in at just over 50 grand. In closing please allow me to add the new Ford Flex-Limited AWD had chrome door handles and bright beltline molding and my favorite chrome exhaust tips.

A KING-SIZE MOVER AND SHAKER: COACH TOM NOLEN By Dr. Victor Keys A King-Size View Our King-Size Mover and Shaker for the month of December is Lamar High School head football coach, Tom Nolen. Coach Nolen is a native of Bellaire. He graduated from Marian Christian High School and while attending the University of Houston, he received an offer to teach Physical Education at St. Michael’s Catholic School. His first head coaching job was at Strake Jesuit. There he led the Crusaders to four private school titles from 1975-1981. He left Strake Jesuit to become the Head Football Coach at Lamar High School, a magnet school in the Houston Independent School District and home of the Redskins. He has been the Head Coach for over 28 years and has become one of the most successful high school coaches in the state of Texas. Coach Nolen has a very impressive record when it comes to football. At Strake Jesuit his record was 57-20-1 from 1975 to 1981. Since 1985 and as the
head football coach at Lamar HS, he has won over 250 football games. This year he led the Redskins to a record of 15-1 and to the championship game for the state Class 5A Division I Crown. However, the Lamar Redskins were defeated by Allen 35-21 in the championship game
and had to settle for the runnerup trophy. Even though Coach Nolen came up a little short this year, he has countless accolades to sustain him until next year including being named the 2012 Coach of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Houston.

SO YOU WANT TO LEARN TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE
Out and About with John Engel The accelerator is at your right fingertips, along with the brake lever for the front brake. The clutch lever is on the right on the handlebars. Your right foot controls the rear brake and your right foot shifts. WOW! That is confusing. You have admired those beautiful bikes for years. The chrome, the sound, the smell, the allure of being on two wheels is there but you have no idea how to take the first step. Not only that, what about getting a motorcycle operator’s license? It is not all that hard to do or really that intimidating. Believe it or not, there is a course offered for a reasonable fee and a bit of time. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation offers two courses, one for
beginners and the other for experienced riders. These courses are offered at quite a few local venues that include dealers, colleges and some other locations (see attached list). The classes are very intense and you will walk out at the end feeling like you will be a safe and informed rider. The classes for the most part involve two evening lessons, two hours each. Most locations offer this phase of training on Thursday and Friday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This is all classroom and you learn controls, safety concerns and everything else you need to know to be a good rider. In addition, you get to know the instructors and fellow students. Then on Saturday and Sunday
MOTORCYCLE LICENSES
(SOURCE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY)
you return for two full days of course training. Starting early in the morning on Saturday you will gradually learn every aspect of operation on real motorcycles. These bikes are provided for the course and often vary in size and type. All, however, are “beginner” machines and quite easy to ride. This is to build confidence and make you feel more comfortable. You will learn how to start and stop, how to shift gears, how to corner and how to avoid collisions. The training is very intense and you will be quite tired at the end of the day. The classes are fairly small (no more than ten riders) and you become very close to your fellow students. The cost of this course varies a bit but usually runs about $250.00. This will include all course materials and motorcycle usage. You will need to provide a helmet and protective clothing. Most classed require long sleeve shirts, gloves and jeans. If you have not made up your mind about what type of motor-
cycle you want this is a good way to help make that decision. Buying a beginner’s bike is often a good investment. You will not have as much invested and having a lower cost machine will give you time to ride and see what you want when it is time to move up. If you have already know what you want and decided to purchase a new motorcycle, see if the dealership offers a discount or free class. Many dealers offer this program and it is a great way to get started.
then a road test. To do this you had to get in line early in the morning just to set the appointment. Then you had to provide a motorcycle with license and insurance, a car with license and insurance and a driver for the car. Making this happen was extremely difficult and intimidating. Now, our great state has simplified the procedure. All you have to do is complete the course and bring the certificate to the Department of Public Safety Driver License office and you will get your endorsement.
Each class uses different machines. Some of the colleges use machines donated and loaned from various dealers. Most are about 250 cc’s and very lightweight. Many of the Harley Davidson dealers that offer the course use Buell Blast bikes. This is a 450 cc machine that is a great beginner machine.
A brief word for experienced riders: If you have ridden for some time and want to upgrade your skills or if you have your endorsement and not ridden for a while, you may want to look at the Experienced Rider Course. It is a one day class using your motorcycle or a rental (usually available from the course provider) you will practice advanced collision avoidance skills and gain awareness of how to be a better rider. This course is quite reasonable ($100 to $150) and well worth the cost.
Now the good news about licensing: In Texas a motorcycle operator is required to obtain an “M” endorsement. Years ago, you had to take a written test

When asked if she could do anything over in life Lulu made it clear she wants to continue to work as hard as she can to be successful in life and become independently wealthy.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK ATALLAH ‘LULU’ MCKINNEY-BELLAIRE Junior all-world guard Atallah “Lulu” McKinney is sitting out a couple of weeks due to a knee injury but she was on the bench as the Lady Cardinals of Bellaire rolled over the Lady Marlins of Madison 70-42. Atallah is the lovely and talented daughter of Jakmica and Clarence McKinney and is holding a 3.5 G P A. Yes she is the daughter of former Jack Yates quarterback Clarence McKinney and the granddaughter of the legendary Jack P.T. McKinney. The multitalented Lulu also plays guitar and piano in her spare time and says she wouldn’t mind learning the sing as well, sometime later on. According to McKinney Bellaire school spirit is at an all-time high in all sports. Yes sir we are a 10 because we have some of the best student participation at our sporting events in the city”. The family practice the Museum faith and Lulu says she feels it has helped her to lead a very productive life. “I follow the teaching of our faith and I don’t eat pork and things like that and it has been a big part of my
life”. On the subject of Barack Obama being re-elected for a second term McKinney says she feels the President has done a wonderful job. She went to credit the Obama administration for new health care for all, the j obs creation and the saving of many jobs. “I just love the job our President is doing and let’s face it people needs jobs and good quality health care. With all the bad things happening from social media these days, McKinney had a great answer for that. “I have a twitter account but I’m almost never on it because I like to come face to face with anything I’m involved with and not do it electronically”. As we continued Lulu added it’s just as good to use your cell phone when you want to talk to a friend. On the subject of goals in life Lulu clearly knows she wants to be involved with sports medicine and possibly work for the National Basketball Association at some point.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
OMAR STRONG - TSU After a slow start, the Texas Southern University Men’s basketball program have won four of their last five games and are among the leaders in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Due to NCAA sanctions they will be not be able to go to the SWAC tournament this year. But that has not stopped the Tigers from their goal of winning the SWAC regular season title. Senior guard Omar Strong who came to TSU from Baltimore, Maryland and Cecil Community College is one of the team leaders. Strong scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds to help the Tigers run past Jackson State. Despite a
cold shooting night, the senior guard hit two big treys to put it out of reach for the Blue Bengals of Jackson State. “Coach Davis really got on our tails at the half even though we were up he made it clear to us we were not playing as well as we are capable”. After a slow first half Jackson State decided to leave Strong open and he made them pay with two big treys to put it out of reach. “I guess because I was not hitting in the first half they decided to double-down and leave me open, but I’m not going to stop shooting until the clock shows all zeros”. The team is growing with the
Crediting her mother (Jakmica) as her most driving force in life simply because they can talk girl talk and she can get pointers on how to deal with life’s little obstacles. We added it has to help to have a strong disciplinary like Clarence as a father. She simply smiled and said YES SIR. Describing herself as an outgoing friendly person who can get along with just about anyone Lulu added once she get that leg well she and the rest of the Lady Cardinals plan to make a run at the state tournament this spring. In closing we couldn’t help but bring up her grandfather and ask

One of the highlights of the season is the Tigers win up on the ‘Hill’ at P.V. a couple of weeks ago. “It was a real big win and since P.V. was picked we felt we could go into their building and get a win was big for us”. Having gone through coaching changes Strong says it was all for the better of his development as a player. “Yes Coach Harvey (Tony) taught me a lot and you know coach Mike Davis will someday be in Basketball Hall of Fame so I’m glad God put Coach Davis in my life”. We agree with Strong. Davis is the best thing that has happen to TSU basketball in a long time and clearly once these NCAA sanctions are gone this team can go places.

COACH OF THE WEEK-MIKE DAVIS-TSU - MIKE KRAMER-BELLAIRE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View MIKE DAVIS TSU The Texas Southern U Tigers have won 4 of their first five games in Southwestern Athletic Conference play this year. First year Coach Mike Davis feels the team got off to a slow start but they are building on what could be an outstanding season. Even though they will not be able to play in the SWAC post season tournament they still can build on the future of their program. “We are probably where we should have been in December but we must continue to build and get better day by day in practice”. Davis who is a graduate of Thomas Edison State in 2000 spent several years at Indiana working with the great Bobby Knight and even took Indiana to the final four as the head man when Knight left the program. Davis is assisted by Donald Marsh, Walter Pitts and Keith LeGree while Timothy Waller is executive director of basketball operation and Michael Davis Junior is the director of basketball operations. In talking with Davis we learned the Tigers are going with a manto-man defense for the first time in over five years. “We must go with a man defense and that way we can put more pressure on our opponent shooters”. Davis added it’s the uncontested shots that beat us and the percentages are a lot lower on contested
shots as opposed to those that are uncontested. Wanting at least 15 assists per ballgame is another of Davis’ plans for the Tigers. After their 84-57 victory over Jackson State Davis says he felt the team played too fancy and did not distribute the ball nearly as well as he would have liked. “We try to stay away from reaching fouls and keep our opponents free throw attempts down”. Building the team from the inside out because you can’t just live on the three point shots, Davis is trying to teach that to his players. “We want our offense to run through the post and hope to dish out for open jumpers rather than just come down and jack it up”. Getting more into the grove Davis is looking for the Tigers who beat Prairie View up on the Hill a couple of weeks ago and that had to be a big lift since the Panthers are picked to win the division. “Our guys played Colorado, Kansas State and it gave us something to build off and beating P.V. was a great motivating factor for us”. Working a month behind from the lack of numbers and the short practice times they had, but Davis feels things are coming around. “As a team we are learning to play man-to-man defense and our guys are beginning to play the way we feel they are capable of playing”. In closing we came away with a
good feeling about Davis and his plans for TSU basketball. The Tigers bounced Grambling State a couple of days later and head on the road as one of the SWAC leaders. MIKE KRAMER-BELLAIRE In what he says is his final year coach Michael Kramer led his Lady Cardinals to their 23rd victory of the season and their 8th straight district win against no defeats against the Madison Marlins. My how things have changed over the years, there was a time when the Lady Marlins use to run over the Cardinals but Bellaire won 7042 and are well on their way to another district title. Longtime coach Mike Kramer says when girls will get it going and if they are on they can be hard to beat. “We don’t have a lot of size but we’ve went against teams with size and came out on top before”. Kramer went on to talk about his team facing team with 6 feet 5 and 6 post players and still holding their own. “We are blessed to have people like A. J. Alix who’s headed to TCU after starting for us for four years; we have Lulu McKinney and Angel Williams so our back court is strong”. The Lady Cards sent Bianca Winslow to the UH after last season and still manage to go 8-0 in district this time around. “We are solid in the back court and our girls are working very hard, feisty press-
ing and hard working group of girls”. Kramer is assisted by Lamar Simons who many feel will take over after this season ends.
is our girls grew that weekend beating Temple and the Woodlands and Clear Spring kind of let us know we can play with the big girls”.
Through all his many years Kramer never had a big tall girl to play the post for him. “That’s amazing but Dallas has girls tall like trees but this year in Houston we don’t have any height but we have to play with the hand we’re dealt”. Bellaire played in the Holiday tournament and faced Temple with a 6 feet 4 post player and the Woodlands had a 6 feet 5 post player. “Hey but the best thing
In closing coach Kramer said his team was on and beating Clear Springs in the McDonald International tournament was a big plus and set a standard for his squad. Hoping to get Lulu back in two weeks but that gave a sophomore Meme Jackson a chance to step up and get some action. Always a pleasure chatting with Coach Kramer and we hope the Cardinals fly high in the playoffs.

A RISING STAR-RAY PENN-TSU - ANGEL WILLIAMS-BELLAIRE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View RAY PE -TSU Sharp-shooting guard Ray Penn hit on four of six from three point land to help Texas Southern University win for the fourth time in five Southwestern Athletic Conference games. The junior from Fort Bend Travis scored 16 points and grabbed five boards and dished out four assists. Most people think the Harrison Twins put FB Travis on the map but according to Penn that’s not the case. It was he and his teammates that made the first playoff appearance for FB Travis a few years ago. The 5 feet 9 inch 160 pound junior spent time at Oklahoma State before coming to TSU. Making both of his free throws Penn was the key once Jackson State went into a zone defense Penn made them pay big time with three straight treys to put the game out of reach. “I think they got down a bit and we were able to knock down open shots on them, but Jackson State is a good team”. Penn said the Tigers underachieved in the nonconference season and are kind of making up for it now. When asked what is it like play-
ing under first year coach Mike Davis Penn replied: “He makes you think and he challenges you at all times on and off the court”. In closing we asked Penn did he get anything from those big games they played in non-conference schedule. “Most definitely; sometimes you have to get hit hard to get going but we are just going about Coach Davis plan of getting better game by game and I think we are getting on the same page”. We agree with Ray-the Tigers are getting on the same page and they will need to as they hit the road in the SWAC and it’s going to be tough! A GEL WILLIAMS BELLAIRE As the Lady Bellaire Cardinals won for the 8th time in district action without a defeat, Angel Williams ripped the nets for 23 points in their win over the Lady Marlins of Madison. A big 7042 win for the Lady Birds of Coach Mike Kramer, Williams hit three big treys in the early going to put the game out of reach. “To be honest with you I feel we can make it all the way
to state and beat defending champ Duncanville”. Crediting their team bonding as the key for the Lady Cardinals, Williams said they also workout very hard each day. Having a lot of heart as well as a fast up-tempo style is a plus for the Cardinals. “When our shots are not falling, we sometimes go inside to our post players and we can always drive to the basket and draw a foul and take shorter jumpers. This season is special according to Williams and she said last year’s team wasn’t nearly as close as this team is right now. “Bonding has a lot to do with it and we are a close group and we know our teammates very well because you find what they can do well and what they want during the game”. Williams closed by saying their win over Clear Spring was a big momentum builder for them because they were overmatched and still manage to get a win. “That shows us we can win the big game and that’s a great feeling for our team”.

TSU WINS 5 OF FIRST 7 SWAC GAMES By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The TSU Men’s basketball program under the leadership of first year Coach Mike Davis, are off to a 4-1 start in SWAC play. Due to NCAA violations the Tigers will not be allowed to play in the SWAC post season tournament this year. But Coach Davis and his staff are going about their business of building a program. With Jackson State in town a couple of weekends ago the Tigers jumped on them and never looked back. TSU went on to win the game 84-57 for their 3rd victory in four
games of Conference play. They added to it by blasting Grambling State two days later for their 4th victory in their first five games. Aaron Clayborn came off the
bench and connected on 8 of 9 shots and led all scorers with 18 points in the win. The 6 feet 6 inch junior from Benton Harbor Michigan also grabbed 5 rebounds in the Tigers victory. However the Tigers lost a thriller to Arkansas Pine Bluff 66-63 on this past Saturday night on the road to drop to 4-2. In February the Tigers have a big home stand starting out with P.V. on Saturday February 2nd.

Lawrence Johnson-Danner hit on 4 of 8 shots including 3 of 5 from trey-land for the Tigers as they rolled to those early conference victories. Forward Fred Sturdivant added 10 points and 7 boards as he went 5 for 8 in the Tigers win over Jackson State University. Always is the case the Tigers cheerleaders put on an excellent show and so does the Tigers Sensations at halftime as their dance routines thrills the crowds. We are looking forward to their showdown with P.V. at the H and P E Arena on February 2nd.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK-ADRIAN HAMILTON-BALTIMORE RAVENS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Former Dallas Carter high school standout Adrian Hamilton will be on the Baltimore Ravens plane when to fly to New Orleans to face the San Francisco 49er in Super Bowl 47. Yes the Nation Black College Defensive Player of the year from Prairie View A & M University went to the NFL Combines and got a shot with the Dallas Cowboys and when things didn’t work out he caught on with the Baltimore Ravens and that could very well have been his best break. The 6 feet 3 inch 260-pound outside linebacker is one of three players from Sub Conference of the NCAA on the Ravens Super
Bowl rooster. There are three former Houston Texans on the Ravens squad as well but that’s another story. We spoke with Hamilton as he was honored at halftime of the PV TSU basketball game a year ago and we came away with good feeling about him. While watching the Ravens and the Bengals play in week 16 we spotted him in the Raven lineup and it brought joy to me heart. It pleases me more to see him make a trip to the Super Bowl in his rookie season in the NFL.
Coaching staff proud seeing their former player get a shot at an NFL Championship ring in only his first NFL season. You might go on to say thank you to the Dallas Cowboys for allowing him to get away. Funny since he played his high school football
at Dallas Carter you would have thought the Cowboys scouting team would have followed Hamilton at P.V. and knew this kid had what it took to play in the NFL. At any rate we are happy for Hamilton and wish him the best of luck!
While at P.V. Hamilton simply was a terror on the field sacking QBs with regularity and just simply was difficult to block. He certainly has to make the P.V.

BIRDS ROLLS OVER MARLINS FOR 8TH DISTRICT WIN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Lady Cardinals of Bellaire high school rolled over the Lady Marlins of Madison high school 70-42 in HISD girls’ action. It was their 8th district win against no defeats and they are headed toward another district title. Longtime coach Michael
Kramer and his faithful assistant Lamar Simons had their girls ready to play despite the injury to junior Lulu McKinney. Due to being startled by a mouse in the hall the girls begin running and McKinney was knocked down injuring her knee and had to have stitches. The team hope to get the All-District Player back in a couple of weeks.
Angel Williams and A J Alix did the damage with 23 and 14 points respectfully and got help from Meme Jackson who saw more action with McKinney out of the lineup.
turnovers and leading to easy baskets for Bellaire. With Manvel and Clear Springs as the favorites to win the region
III class 5A title this year, the Cardinals are just waiting on the playoffs to begin and see about that!.
After our little chat with Mike Kramer he told us it will probably be his last year and he’s retiring when the season ends. Lamar Simons is expected to step up and take over the program and continue the legacy of what Kramer has built over the years. Outside shooting is the key to the Lady Cardinals and they were on and took care of the Lady Marlins quickly as Williams hit 3 treys in the first period. Their pressing and trapping defense bother the Marlins and kept them off guard forcing

C5 COLEMAN LOVE FOUNDATION ON DISPLAY AT THE BLACK HERITAGE GALLERY Starting the year off right we had a chance to visit with Ronnie Coleman and his entire family. The former Houston Oilers running back is doing big things in the community as he continues their family Ministry. With all five of his children and his lovely wife (Julia) and his charming sister-in-law (Ruby Baker) they were on hand on Almeda as the Black Heritage Gallery held their Houston Inauguration Party for President Barack Obama. The Gallery located at 5408 Almeda is
loaded with art effects including the latest works on President Barack Obama Limited Edition by Thomas Blackshear. On hand were some of the C5 Coleman Love Foundation works including I’m Saying by Julia Carter-Coleman, Where Does Change Begin? And 365 Days of Change Workbook by the Coleman’s children who were all present at the Gallery. Ronnie and Julia have two sons Zephaniah and Joshua and three daughters Giovanni, Chelsea and
Franquette. You can go on line at kingsizeview.com and click on C5 Coleman Love Foundation banner with Zephaniah and Franquette picture for more details. It’s a mystery to me that the NFL hadn’t latched on to Ronnie Coleman because of his talent and knowledge of the game of football after playing 9 years (74-83) with the Oilers. But more importantly the way he has conducted himself since those days. He and Julia have taken

The Way I See It By BIG John Chandler
HERE WE GO AGAIN As the current Texas Legislature enters the current session, trust me forget it. I don’t hide my xomplete disgist regard regarding politics and and politicians. They don’t I repeat ‘don’t care’ about working class Americans, the simple backbone of this country. While race, gender, sexual orientation and physical and mental disability are issues, working class is not. A ‘have not’ doesn’t matter to these people no matter what your party affiliation or core beliefs are. You belong to the working class and as The Rock used to say “Know your role and shut your mouth”. So it was woth casual interest that I noted some bills filed in this session that have do to with Texas High School Athletics as some of the hooligans (aka-legislatures) have again filed bills to merge public and private schools to compete against each other.
I kid you not dear readers, this is getting to be tiring, considering the many problems our state has to deal with along with the few dollars we have to spend to stay on budget. So I must first say that the idea will not ago away. Why do the folks who hate public schools want to compete with them? What do the get for screaming to the top of their lungs’we’re number one?’ The private schools have beautiful facilities while many public schools, especially in the innercity, are old and needless to say should be torn down and rebuilt new from the ground floor. Maybe it’s just me but I would like to hear from those parents whose children attent private
schools to give me a legit reason why a private school wants to complete against a public school. I’m reasonable and if the reason is believable, I’ll support it. But guess what-they haven’t given a true-blue reason regarding this issue. We do know a lot of great athletes live in the inner-city. Can these schools convince tham along with their parents the advantages of attending their institutions? Oh I forgot about illegal recruiting and how about the grade point average for student athletes. Can the private schools lower their g.p.a. to C+ which may be the score for many public school athletes? The private schools don’t play as many games as the public schools do: can they increase the amount of games to be scheduled or will the public schools have to lower their games scheduled? Now here’s one issue not even on the agenda yet or is it? Home-schooled young athletes want to participate too and how do they fit into the equation?
their Ministry all the way to Africa and work on several projects in the community over the years. They are an outstanding couple and have been for 28 years. If the NFL truly cares about leading some of our young men in the right direction Coleman is the type of guy who could certainly lean a helping hand. In closing please allow me to add in the wake of players tak-
ing the lives of their love ones and even taking their own live, not to mention having brain problems after their playing days are gone. It’s a nature fit to have someone like Coleman around to present these guys with a perfect example to follow. In the coming weeks we plan to write more about this fact and if the NFL is reading A King-size View or visiting www.kingsizeview.com it would help to listen up!
The children of Ronnie and Julia Coleman (L-R)Zephaniah, Giovanni, Chelsea, Franquette and Joshua I wrote about this several years ago. At the time of the National Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament in Houston I noticed the many private schools participating and that number was growing. In many states public and private schools compete against each other nealy at every level. These teams are good-very good to be exact. I got the chance to talk to these school’s administative staff, coaches and parents and the response was the same: ‘these are just kids, let them play’. I felt all along that the private schools just wanted to play and if they filed legal action the end result would be in their favor. Public school supporters bitterly opposed the udea, but the University Interschoolastic League approved it. The end result; well nothing has happened that made the private schools look all that impressive. Oh Houston Strake Jesuit did qualify for the boys state basketball championship several years ago but that’s just about it. Many of the private schools say they
are happy with the separation snd want to keep things just as they are. I supported the idea that as long as the private schools agreed with and followed the U.I.L.’s rules and regulations, they should be allowed to join and compete. Now the question remainsshould any other action be taken regarding public/private school competition? Sure the two sides should meet and discuss issues and decide if things need to be upgraded and/or remain the same. From my point of view, no one seems to have any major issues regarding public and private schools joining forces. Things seem to be very quiet and nothing is simmering in the background. That means only these deadbeats (aka politicians) are at work wasting our tax dollars and proving one again there’s no fool like a old fool! Now dear readers maybe you’ll understand why I dislike elected officals. That’s just the way I see it!

TABLE FOR ONE Lisa Smith
Tip #6 Gratitude and kindness is one of the simplest things to demonstrate, it can elevate your mood and bring cheer to an unsuspecting person. Work on being a kind and loving person. Set out to do nice things for others, start with small

things, compliments or a smile. Learn how to express gratitude in your own special way, for things small or grand. A person‘s kindness should be recognized regardless of the size of the gesture. Keep thank you cards
handy as part as your regular stationary. Be ready to drop a quick note to express what a thoughtful gesture meant to you, or how it made you feel. Do “just because” gestures to brighten someone’s day. Send a friend flowers even if it’s a guy, bake some homemade cookies to give to a date. Send a care package with someone’s favorite goodies if they are far from home. Use your own creative ideas and have fun with it. Gestures can cost you much or little to no cost at all.
Sometimes a person could use a foot massage and a good ear to listen. I could spend all day on gratitude because it truly excites and motivates me when I think of all the fun stuff to do for another person, and the awesome feeling of showing and being appreciated. And often the most gratifying gift giving is volunteering or giving your time to a cause that is dear to your heart. Take the first step of casting out gratitude and get ready for a net filled with love and blessings to come
back to you. Don’t get discouraged if a person or people do not reciprocate, trust me it always comes back and not always from the person that was the benefactor of your kindness. Do kind things for the right reasons and watch all the love that is returned! The majic of gratitude can change your life! Thank you so much for reading this, and have a awesome month!
REVEREND ROBERT L. JESSIE JR. GOING HOME SERVICES A DAY TO REMEMBER By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Time sure goes fast and it pays to listen up and pay strict attention when you are in the company of some people. As Booker T. Washington was getting beat at their homecoming game we ran into Robert Jessie and it had been a long time since we talked. Even though we spoke briefly little did I know it was be the last time I would visit with him. While at KCOH radio we ran into Kashmere coach Garry Dunham and he informed me that Robert had passed away on Christmas day. So we made a call to his childhood friend Walter Penrice Senior of the Studewood Cobras and he told me he had heard the same thing. Walter recalled Robert never call him by his name he just called him pinhead. “Yeh King we shot marbles together and he probably didn’t know my real name until we went to BTW together later on”. So we later confirmed it and set
January 5th on the list of services to attend. The rainy chilly day served as what old folks in the country use to say when a Faithful Servant was going home. Ironically Pastor Donald Dickson titled his sermon “A Faithful Servant referring to Rev. Jessie. But long before that let me tell you when I first met Robert L. Jessie it was in 1971. We were playing basketball on the Hanks brother goal off East 40th and we were getting a little rough with some of the guys and someone said he man go get Robert. Well when he first got there we took a look at him and thought all we’ll rough him up also. However once Robert got warmed up he was slanging his elbows and grabbing rebounds to the degree no one would go under the basket with him. They won two of the last three games we played and the two of us would talk off and on for the next few years. Then a few years later we met Jessie again as he had his whole family out to the Studewood Cobras as his sons all played with the Cobras. Jessie took it to another level and became a coach and later started a baseball and track league for the kids as well. Always showing off a big bright
smile Jessie will be remembered for all his great works and his ability to get along with people of all walks of life. Born on April 25, 1954, Robert Lee Jessie Jr went on to attend Burrus Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School of engineering Profession (Class of 1972). Robert then took classes at P.V. and UH Downtown and it was there he met the lovely and talented Charlotte Foster. The couple married on January 8, 1980 and they were blessed to have six children (five sons and one daughter). Having been baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Herman Price of Greater New Hope MBC Jessie saw too it his family became active members in the church. On Sunday August 17, 2003 Jessie announced his call to the Ministry and preached his first sermon on November 9, 2003 call “God’s Amazing Grace”. He would go to organize a prayer at the job and serve on many committees at his church as well as leading the Young Men in Christ group.
the church on North Main for services that lasted more than 2 and one-half hours. His son Willer (W00) Jessie spoke so well of his father as the tears rolled down his face as he said his daddy is perfect now! The Studewood Cobras brought a plaque thanking Rev. Jessie for his services. A wonderful home going services for Rev. Jessie led by Pastor Donald Ray Dickson, who was a great athlete in his playing days also. Dandy Don as we call him returned a kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown for Jack Yates. In closing please allow me to add Rev. Robert Jessie lived a wonderful life and will be remembered for year and years to come. Fact is I will never forget him nor the work he done while on this earth.

WHAT IS TRUTH? REVELLINGS There are many in the religious world today having FUN, going to family reunions, birthday parties, giving HOLIDAY feasts and New Year parties, having a few drinks just having a merry good time. We are sure some, if not many would ask, what’s wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with it according to our FLESH, actually its FU ! But according to Christ and his apostles, to our SPIRIT it is a vexation, to our soul it is damnation, because it is VAIN thereby it is wrong Rom.8:5-10; Gal.5:16-17; Phil.3:16-20; Titus3:8-11, (See also Eccl. chapters 1and 2). The scriptures teach that, among many, one of the works of the flesh is REVELLING, and that those participating in it or any such like, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. As we start this study please, pay close attention to all scriptures and all definitions of words, then it will be understood why true Christians, followers of Christ, cannot Party. Please read the instructions on feasts, given by the Lord and SAVIOR Jesus Christ; “Luke 14:12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a (*)recompence be made thee. 13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot (*)recompense thee: for thou shalt be (*)recompensed at the resurrection of the just.” (Definition: (*) cannot recompense thee -467 antapodidomi (an-tap-od-ee’-do-mee); from 473 and 591; to requite: KJV— recompense, render, repay. This takes us into the lesson: REVELLI GS Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, (1)revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.(KJV)
1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:(KJV)
Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth. 18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. 19 These are the three sons of oah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.(KJV)
Keeping the above scriptures in mind, the scriptures also teach that as Christians, we are not to give heed to fables and endless genealogies see (1Tim.1:4). Christians must not live by the flesh anymore, if they have put on the new man in baptism, and that NEW man MUST be SPIRITUAL (Rom.8:5-9). There is a SPIRITUAL family reunion each Lord’s Day, and it must be attended (Heb.10:25). Jesus said, “Who is my mother or my brethren ?” (Matt.12:47-50 & Mark3:32-35) 1 Tim 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 Neither give (1)heed to fables and endless (2)genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.(KJV) Definitions: (1) Neither give heed; (figuratively) to hold the mind i.e. pay attention to, apply oneself to, adhere to: KJV— (give) attend (-ance, -ance at, unto), be given to, give (take) heed (to unto); have regard. To turn the mind to, to attend to be attentive; a) to be given or addicted to b) to devote thought and effort to (2) Genealogy-from the same as 1075; tracing by generations, i.e. “genealogy”: KJV— genealogy, a record of descent or lineage 1 Tim 1:4 ... endless genealogies, (KJV)
Gen 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.(KJV) Gen 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. (see also verses 4-10) We all have kinsmen in the flesh, but Christians, (those that have put on Christ in baptism according to scripture), must remember who their family truly is, and that the reunion is set on each Lord’s Day. Matt 12:46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.(KJV) Mark 3:31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. 32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. 33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? 34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said,

WHAT IS TRUTH? REVELLINGS Behold my mother and my brethren! 35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.(KJV)
Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.(KJV) 2 Cor 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.(KJV) Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. 9 But (1)avoid foolish questions, and (2)genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are (3)unprofitable and (4)vain. 10 A man that is an (5)heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. Definitions: (1)avoid-4026 periistemi (per-ee-is’-tay-mee); from 4012 and 2476; to stand all around, i.e. (near) to be a bystander, or (aloof) to keep away from: KJV— avoid, shun, stand by (round about). (2)genealogies-1076 genealogia (ghen-eh-al-og-ee’-ah); from the same as 1075; tracing by generations, i.e. “genealogy” a record of descent or lineage: KJV— genealogy. (3) for they are unprofitable-512 anopheles (an-o-fel’-ace); from 1 (as a negative particle) and the base of 5624; useless or (neuter) inutility: KJV— unprofitable (-ness). (4)and vain-3152 mataios (mat’-ah-yos); from the base of
3155; empty, i.e. (literally) profitless, or (specifically) an idol 1) devoid of force, truth, success, result 2) useless, of no purpose: KJV— vain, vanity. (5)heretick -141 hairetikos-1) fitted or able to take or choose a thing 2) schismatic, factious, a follower of a false doctrine 3) heretic (KJV)
The scriptures also teach us that, NO FLESH should glory in the Lord’s presence (1Cor.1:26-31). We are not to have any fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but, rather reprove them (2Cor.6:14-18; 7:1-3; Eph.5:6-11). Christians can’t have it our way, we must deny ourselves (Definition: deny ourselves -533 aparneomai (ap-arneh’-om-ahee); from 575 and 720; to deny utterly, i.e. disown, abstain a) to affirm that one has no acquaintance or connection with someone b) to forget oneself, lose sight of oneself and one’s own interests: KJV— deny), (Matt.16:24-25; John 12:25-26; Titus 2:12-15). We must do it Christ’s way, because we are NOT our own, we have been bought with a price (1Cor.6:20; 7:23). The day that we are born in the flesh, is the day we began to die, even eternally; so why would one glorify such (see Eccl. 4:1-4)? The day that we are buried with Christ in baptism, thereby putting on Christ (Rom.10:14-17; Mark16:16; Luke 13:3; Rom.10:9-10; Acts2:38; Rom.6:3-8; Gal.3:27 Col.2:112), we are then born again (John3:1-7; 1Pet.1:18-25). We then MUST rise up a new SPIRITUAL man, a new CREATURE according to the apostle’s doctrine. ALL things MUST become new (2Cor.5:14-17). Then we began to live, even eternally; ONLY if we hold to the traditions and commandments, that we have read and learned in the apostle’s doctrine (John 17:20-21; Acts2:41-42; 1Cor.11:1-3; Eph.3:1-7; Philip.4:6-9; 2Pet.3:1-2; 1John4:5-6; Jude1:16-19). Now this is something to glorify and then we will be glorying in the Lord, not in the flesh (1Cor.1:26-31). Christians must celebrate this spiritual birth through obedience, and should be thankful for it every moment of the day. There are three places in scripture, the word birthday as something celebrated or kept, is found. Executions happened at both of these celebrations, they being not followers of God, Christ, or the Apostles (Gen.40:1-23; Matt.14:1-12; Mark 6:14-30). There are no examples of Jesus himself, his apostles or anyone that followed them, ever cele-
brating carnal birthdays or reunions in any manner. We believe this is true because these are CARNAL, FLESHLY, EARTHLY traditions. (Rom.8:410; Philip.3:18-20).
Rom 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (see also Rom 13:11-13) 1 Cor 1:26 For ye see your (1)calling, brethren, how that not many (2)wise men (3)after the flesh, not many (4)mighty, not many (5)noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And (6)base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 THAT O (7)FLESH SHOULD (8)GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.(KJV) Definitions: (1)calling, brethren-2821 klesis (klay’-sis); an invitation (figuratively): KJV— calling. (2) not many wise men after the flesh-4680 sophos-wise: a) skilled, expert: of artificers b) wise, skilled in letters, cultivated, learned 1) used of the Greek philosophers and orators. (3)after the flesh2596 kata-; according to, toward, along. (4) not many mighty-1415 dunatos-1) able, powerful, mighty, strong a) mighty in wealth and influence. (5) not many noble, are called2104 eugenes (yoog-en’ace);from 2095 and 1096; well born, i.e. (literally) high in rank, or (figuratively) generous: KJV— more noble, nobleman. (6)base things of the world-36 agenes-ignoble, coward, base, of no family (that is, low-born). (7) NO flesh-4561 sarx (sarx); probably from the base of 4563; flesh ( (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul [or spirit], or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), KJV-carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]). (8)glory in his presence-2744 kauchaomai (kow-khah’-om-ahee);from some (obsolete) base akin to that of aucheo (to boast) and 2172; to vaunt (in a good or a bad sense): KJV— (make) boast, glory, joy, rejoice.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.(see also Gal 5:25) (KJV)
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (see also Eph 4:1-3) Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. TRUE Christians, which are followers of God, through Christ and his apostles, do not have any example of those before us having EARTHLY, CARNAL, SECULAR fun, joys, pleasures, parties, and revellings or any such things. But rather, we have been warned against such. Contrary to what is being taught, Christianity is SERIOUS, and there is nothing more serious than it; in that it is about either having eternal life in HEAVEN or eternal death and torment in HELL(Mark9:43-48; Luke16:19-25; Heb.10:24-31). If Christ and those before us SUFFERED not to participate in such things, why do “Christians” today think they have the right not to suffer? True Christians today must SUFFER also,
please read; “I Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”We MUST also SUFFER to be obedient and follow those before us, so that we can cease from sin (Philip.1:29; Heb.5:8-9; 1 Pet 4:1-4). The following scriptures are some of the things TRUE Christians MUST focus on, to be right (righteous) with God, through Christ and his apostles. Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?(see also Matt.7:15-27) John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.(KJV) John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (KJV) John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.(KJV) Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. WHAT IS TRUTH? REVELLINGS Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)
Rom 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. (1)Mind not high things, but (2)condescend to men of (3)low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give (4)place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.(KJV) Definitions: (1)Mind not high things-5426 phroneo (fron-eh’o); from 5424; to exercise the mind, to be (mentally) disposed; intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience): KJV— set the affection on, (be) care (-ful), (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, + let this) mind (-ed), regard, savour, think. gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. 29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;(KJV)
Phil 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.(KJV) Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:(KJV) 1Thes 2:11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 1 Tim 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, (1)ready to distribute, (2)willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may
lay hold on eternal life.(KJV)

(KJV) Note the examples of the joys and pleasures of Christians before us; they are NOT EARTHLY, CARNAL, SECULAR ones. These are the ones TRUE Christians must follow, to be right “righteous” with GOD through Christ and his apostles: Acts 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the
things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.(KJV)
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. (see also Rom 14:17-18; Rom 15:13; Rom 15:32-33) 2 Cor 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.(see also Eph 1:5 ) (KJV) Phil 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; (see also Phil 1:3-6) (KJV) Phil 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.(see also Phil 4:14) (KJV) 1Thes 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? 20 For ye are our glory and joy. (see also 1Thes 1:6-7) Phile 1:20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord. (see also 2Tim 1:4) Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.(KJV) James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (see also James 5:7-8)

WHAT IS TRUTH? REVELLINGS 1 Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.(KJV) II Jn 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.(KJV) 3 Jn 1:1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.(KJV) Note the Apostle Paul’s command to the Church in Corinth and Thessalonica, as he was guided by The Holy Ghost. Notice he said “whether ye be in THE faith,” not in A faith. Note also the admonishments of the Apostles Peter, John and Bro. Jude as they also were guided by The Holy Ghost.”2 Cor 13:5

I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

We believe this is done best through, definitions and the (1)preponderance of scripture; which is having superiority in weight, force, importance, or influence (of scripture). We believe this also allows scripture to interpret scripture, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic.
