2013 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER GT Dallas, Texas-Continuing to grow their brand, Mitsubishi is doing well and their new Outlander Sport AWC is a good example. Fact is we took one to Dallas, Texas during our week long test drive and found it to be quite a deal at just under $34,000. That pretty much maxed out our test model and it was loaded with features to say the least. With its 3.0 Liter SOHC V6 we are talking about 21 combined miles per gallon with 19 in the city and 25 on the highway. Good quality numbers when you consider the overall style of performance level of our test vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and we found it to handle hills and dips very well.

When it comes to safety, the new Outlander GT is loaded with great numbers also. We are talking an overall rating of four-star, with five-star rating for driver in frontal crashes but a three-star rating for passenger, but the side crash rating is five-star for front seat and four-star for rear seat with a rollover rating of fourstar. All these numbers are reported from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Advanced dual front airbags with front seat mounted side airbags with side curtain airbags and hill start assist and active stability program to note a few of the vehicle’s safety features. To round out sportronic paddle shifter and fast key entry with panic alarm and aluminum ped-

als. When you thrown in performance handling four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and fourwheel independent suspension you are rolling pretty doggone good. Inside the new Outlander you are greeted to a luxurious looking interior but is still plain enough to understand and easy to navigate the controls. Large racecar like gauges makes for easy read and adjustments are simply. The front seats are heat-

ed and the AC has micron-filter for clean breathing air infiltration. Sounds comes in the form of an optional 710-Watt Rockford Fosgate punch premium sound system with nine-speakers including a 10 inch subwoofer, needless to say we were jamming. With steering wheel controls and fuse hand-free link system with USB port this baby was ready for the new wage of communication. Accents include leather wrapped

steering wheel and gear shift knob along with rear privacy glass. There’s a stow away 3rd row seat as well as power door and tailgate lock plus outside power mirrors and variable intermittent wiper. The rear has 60/40 seats with split/ fold/tumble feature plus sliding/reclining function. Let me add in closing the bold looking grille up front really gives you that massive 40 and 50's look for this modern day SUV that’s taking the country by storm.

VILENE WINSTON WINS NAME THIS CAR CONTEST By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View It’s been a while since we started our Name This Car Contest and Vilene Winston has been one of the paper’s biggest followers. Crediting the news about new cars and one of her reasons for following A Kingsize View newspaper and a chance to play our Name This Car Contest, Winston said she has always enjoyed reading the paper. It just so happen she took a guess in the contest and was the first to get the Buick Rivera G S we profiled a couple of months ago. In exchange for getting the $125.00 in cash and $50.00 in

gift cards to shop at Fiesta we asked our winners to pose for photos in the next edition. Not really having a love for taking photos Winston finally consented and we were able to get Dr. Victor Keys to get a good shot of her with her prizes just in time for Christmas.

For many years now A King-Size View newspaper has put the contest on giving out $125.00 in cash and $50.00 in gift cards to shop at Fiesta. Guidry, a real estate agent in Midtown (Houston Texas), is a graduate of La Marque High School and now makes her home in Houston. We learned Guidry also works part time as a bartender and it was there she saw A King-Size View newspaper. “Someone had it at the bar and I noticed it and started reading it and it was then I saw the car contest”. As we talked further with Guidry we discovered she had a neighbor who had a car just like the one in the photo. The November edition 2012 is

THE SOUL AND BLUES MASTER ERNIE JOHNSON CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA ON PASSING THE HEALTH CARE BILL

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas-Junior defensive lineman Cody Gessler led the Katy Tigers in unassisted tackles with five and teamed up with Barry Cole, Jake Blomstrom Matt Dimon and Colton Ashein to keep the heat on runners from Cedar Hill. Geesler added two assisted tackles to go with two tackles for losses on the plays as well. That went well with guys like Tim Wilkerson and the outstanding play of Barry Cole who also had two sacks in the win. If you haven’t noticed yet we are talk-

ing about some good young players on this Katy team that could mean they will be back again next season. Gessler’s outstanding play along with Wilkerson gives the Tigers reasons to believe they will have a force up front with Dimon leaving after winning the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the title game for him commanding two blockers all night long. After taking a good look at the action we decided to go with Geesler and the junior made a name for himself and look for bigger and better things from him again next season.

WHAT IS TRUTH? VOTING I have been asked from time to time, do I vote? My answer is, “no, not anymore”. Then I am asked “why?” My answer is: “I have not voted since I have learned The Truth (John17:17), and I’m now striving to be a Christian, according to the Word; an obedient self denying, follower of Christ” (Luke9:2326). This response usually is not pleasing to the ear, just as many things Jesus Christ and his apostles have done and said. I know this pleases GOD though, because JESUS said in John 8:47 “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God”. Here are some of the last words that were spoken by GOD the Father, after Jesus’ baptism; (Matt.17:1-8 note verse 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.) Remember because of the TRUTH, the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ was ill spoken of, and eventually crucified/killed, and so were many of his followers.

God has given instructions (has spoken) through Christ and his apostles as they were guided by the Holy Ghost, on how to deal with all those of authority. VOTI G is not involved. To those that have been buried with Christ (Rom.6:1-4, Col.2:12), thereby putting on Christ in baptism (Gal.3:21-29 note verse 27), to those that have been baptized with The One baptism, into The One Body, The Church, The One Faith, which is of The One Spirit, must hear, obey, and follow Christ through his apostles on all issues (Eph. 4:1-6; 1Pet.3:20-22; Matt.28:16-20; John17:16-26; Acts1:1-4 and 2:42; Eph.3:1-6 and 5:13-33; James1:21-27; 2Pet.2:1-22 and 3:1-17; 1John 4:1-6; Jude1:1725). This then would make us the peculiar ones, members of The One Church that Christ is building, (The Churches of Christ, The One Church by Christ, The One Church of God), which He purchased with His own blood, speaking the same things, not having any division among us. Titus2:12-15; 1Pet.2:7-11; Matt.16:16- 18; Acts 2:47; Rom.16; 16-18; Eph.3:20-21; Acts20:27-30. This is exactly what VOTING causes in The Church, DIVI-

SIONS. Read Please: (Rom.16:17-18, 1Cor.1:10-13, 1Cor.11:1-3, Gal.1:6-12, Phil.3:16-20, Phil.4:8-9, Col.2:6-10, 1John 2:18-19.)

his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.(KJV)

Now, let’s read The Lord’s instructions on how we as true Christians, are to deal with ALL authority; not just in this nation that is a little over 200 year old, but all authority in all nations. We, as true Christians, must remember these instructions were written over 2000 years ago, before the existence of this nation, and God is not a respecter of persons, (not one who discriminates) (Matt. 28:16-20; Acts10:34-36), all nations under God (Acts 17:24-31). We will start with the example of Jesus Christ and how he handled higher earthly powers that were ordained of God even though they were not followers of him, and were scripturally wrong, just as our world leaders are today. Noting his examples, as they were verified by his apostles, his followers i.e. Christians must respect all world leaders (higher powers) even if we don’t like them. We must not kill them, vote them out, nor even disrespect them, no matter what is done to us. This is a hard saying; who can hear it, let alone do it? Only those that is willing to deny themselves and follow CHRIST will hear it and strive to do it. Remember as Christians; this is NOT our HOME (Phil.3:16-21)

John 19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.(KJV)

John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 o man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.(KJV) John 18:35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.(KJV) John 19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on

John 19:9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? 11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.(KJV) Now, we should understand by scripture that, even Jesus our Lord and Savour was subject to a higher earthly power, which was Pilate, God’s minister. Jesus attempted at no time to kill or remove Pilate from that office in any manner, for he had the power, “John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews…” Christians must remember that, for Jesus to have even spoken ill of Pilate, let alone harm him, would have made him disobedient to his Father which was, and is, in heaven. For even though Pilate was not a follower of Christ, he was “God’s minister”, and Jesus knew that, as Christians i.e. followers of Christ must know this today, “John 19: 10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? 11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.” Let us look now at one that followed our Lord, the apostle Paul. Even though Ananias was not a Christian but, was the high priest of the Jews, at no time did the apostle Paul attempt to kill

or remove him from that office in any manner. There were some that were called Christians at that time (Acts11:26), and in order for Ananias to be saved he had to be converted to one. The Jews were plotting to kill Paul (Acts21:31and 22:22), and Ananias had ordered those that stood by Paul to smite on the mouth, even though he was trying to convert them to Christianity (Acts26:21-32; Rom.10:1-21). This caused Paul to be upset and spoke against higher powers not knowing who Ananias was. Even though Ananias was wrong; note Paul’s reply and his submission.

Acts 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. 3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? 4 And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest? 5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.(KJV) Note: Michael the archangel respected even the Devil himself. Lord willing, we will look further into the 9th verse of Jude chapter 1 later. 2 Pet 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.(KJV) Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord

rebuke thee.(KJV)

With these examples before us; these same instructions are now given; on the respect of higher powers no matter who they are, or whether they are right or wrong; just as Jesus and Paul did. Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.(KJV) (see John19:11) 1 Pet 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.(KJV) We now understand, by the scriptural examples of those before us how we, as followers of Christ, must respect all world powers, the leaders of all countries (as being ordained by God).

WHAT IS TRUTH? VOTING It does not matter if they are right or wrong, good or bad, Republicans or Democrats, etc. Some one asked the question once, “If we do not vote and make our voices heard, how will government officials provide us with laws that will allow us to live in peace?” My response was, “for those of us that have been baptized into Christ, thereby putting on Christ by the word, this can be done through prayer only if it’s God’s will. Not voting, but prayer”. Please hear the apostle Paul; “1 Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” Remember though, God heareth not sinners: John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.(KJV) Why is it so hard for those that have put on Christ in baptism, to have faith in God? If we have obeyed the bible form of doctrine, then our faith should not be in men (Jer.17:5-7), but in God through Christ Jesus. What, we don’t believe that Christ is the only mediator between God and man? We of so little faith note verses 1, 2 and 5 of 1Tim.2; pray for all men, pray for kings and for all that are in authority. “Pray with,” was not at any time used, for not all have obeyed the gospel, for not all have believed the Lord’s report/instructions (Rom.10:1617) and need the prayers of those that have. There is no need for true Christians to vote on any man. We appeal to the one that has all power, God through Christ Jesus. Read Please: Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be

filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.(KJV)

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.(KJV) True Christians must follow scriptural command and or example, and not traditions of men, such as voting. We must not vote when scripture commands us to pray. Prayer is of God. I haven’t found anywhere in New Testament scripture, command or example of Christ or his apostles, maneuvering anyone in or out of office of authority by any means or for any reason. Those that profess to be of Christ must remember that we are not of this world, and that politics are. Politics are Earthly, Secular, Temporal, Mundane, and Fleshly and are of men. For politics; will not stand nor matter in the judgment, it will all pass away, (please hear the apostle John; 1John2:15-19). The scriptures teach us not to mind Earthly things. Read Please: Matt 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.(KJV) Phil 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often,

and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV) (conversation:citizenship)

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. NOTE THE UNDERLINED WORDS IN THE DEFINITIONS OF THE THREE WORDS BELOW. (1)pol·i·tic (p¼l“¹-t¹k) adj. 1. Using or marked by prudence, expedience, and shrewdness; artful.3. Crafty; cunning. — pol“i·tic·ly (2) Po·lit·i·cal 1. Of, relating to, or dealing with the structure or affairs of government, politics, or the state. 2. Relating to, involving, or characteristic of politics, parties, or politicians. 3. Having or marked by a definite or organized policy or structure with regard to government. (3)pol·i·ti·cian (p¼l”¹-t¹sh“…n) n. 1.a. One who is actively involved in politics, especially party politics. b. One who holds or seeks a political office. 2. One who seeks personal or partisan gain, often by scheming and maneuvering. 3. One who is skilled or experienced in the science or administration of government. True Christians are not their own, and have been bought with a price. Christ is the buyer, the owner, and the husband. God has told us to hear him (Matt.17:1-8), and it is written that we are not to be entangled with the affairs of this life. The scriptures also teach us, how we should live in this present world. There is no mention of politics. Read please: Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching

them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.(KJV)

Acts 26:21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: 23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. 24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. 25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. 26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. 27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. 29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds. (KJV) 1 Cor 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (KJV) 1 Cor 7:20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. 21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. 22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. 23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. 24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.(KJV) 2 Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is

in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 o man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. True Christians are called out of the world through baptism into Christ, and to the obedience of God through Christ Jesus and his apostles. We MUST suffer to deny ourselves of the things we like in this world, take up our cross daily, and follow Christ; thereby hating our lives here (Luke9:23-24; John12: 2426; James 4:4; 1John2:15-22). Again Prayer, while striving to live a 24/7 self denying lifestyle is how a Christian’s voice is heard, and to the one who truly provides (God his Father and through Jesus Christ his Mediator, Master and Savour). For when we choose not to deny ourselves, we deny Christ (antichrist). If we, as Christians, take this scriptural route of prayer as we have been commanded, we then would never be part of the wrong (the unscriptural “evil” things that our world leaders must allow, being of the world.) We would always be part of the good things through Christ and his apostles and by God our Father. There would never be DIVISIO S in The Church because of some being REPUBLICA S or DEMOCRATS, etc.

WHAT IS TRUTH? VOTING This is why a true Christian is not to vote one in or out, but to pray world wide for whoever are in those positions. Again it does not matter if they are liked or not, good or bad, republicans or democrats, but pray for all men (1Tim.2:1-4).

The apostle Paul as he was guided by the Holy Ghost tells us to prove all things (1Thes.5:21), and Jesus said by what we are to use for proving: “Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Some might ask who will take care of the evil doers on earth. The apostle Peter as he was guided by the Holy Ghost is clear on this matter, world Higher Powers (1Pet.2:13-15). This can, and must be done without one professing to be a Christian, having to vote; thereby being right, righteous with God. This then allows the world to put in world leaders: While Christians pray; that we (Christians) may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty, (the salt of the earth: Matt.5:13-16; Eph.5:1-17). We pray to our Father, which is in heaven, for the opportunity to live this quiet and peaceable life; not to enjoy ourselves here, (please hear Jesus; John12:24-26). But, so that we can be about the business of saving souls; desiring that all men be saved; by coming into the knowledge of the truth (1Tim.2:2-4), knowing there will only be few, (please hear Jesus: Matt.7:13-29; 20:16; 22:14; Luke 6:43-49). For we know by scripture the world will always have wars (Matt.24:3-14). The following scriptures will give commands and examples to Christians, on how to handle evil; these instructions are of course not by man, but by our Lord Jesus. For world leaders cannot, and will not suffer to obey these commands, that is if they want to stay in power or even alive. Note the sufferings that are involved: COMMA DS Matt 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye (1)resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.(KJV)

Definition: (1) Resist not-436 anthistemi-to stand against, i.e. oppose: KJV— resist, withstand. (i.e. shun evil, but not physically fight evil see 2Cor.10:2-6; 2Tim.2:19-26; Titus3:1-3; 1Pet.3:11) Matt 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.(KJV) Acts 14:21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. Rom 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.(KJV) Rom 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.(KJV) 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the

flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.(KJV) EXAMPLES

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.(KJV) Acts 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.(KJV) 2 Tim 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: 15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words. 16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.(KJV) 1 Pet 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.(KJV) Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.(KJV)

If we noticed in the above scripture that even Michael the archangel when contending with a higher power, the devil, respected him, and turned it over to the Lord. This is what we must do as Christians to be righteous, right with God and remember this: 1 Pet 3:11 Let him (1)eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the (2)righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? 14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;(KJV) Definitions: (1) Eschew-1) to turn aside, to deviate 2) to turn (oneself) away, to turn away from, to keep aloof from one’s society 3) to shun one. (2) Righteous-observing divine laws. a) in a wide sense, upright, righteous, virtuous, keeping the commands of God. 3) used of him whose way of thinking, feeling, and acting is wholly conformed to the will of God.4) approved by or acceptable by God Last, but by all means not least, we as followers of Christ must know and remember who the god of this world is. We through scripture will also read how his power came about, and what we should do to stay out of his grasp. Read Please: THE GOD OF THIS WORLD, (THE DEVIL) 2 Cor 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.(KJV) Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Eph 6:11 Put on the whole

armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.(KJV)

I Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world (1)lieth in wickedness.(KJV) Definition: (1)lieth in wickedness-2749 keimai-2) metaphorically: a) to be (by God’s intent) set,, that is, destined, appointed c) lies in the power of the Evil One,, that is, is held in subjection by the Devil POWER GIVE HIM, (THE DEVIL) Luke 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.(KJV) Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.(KJV)

It seems as though when the Church is given the opportunity to be the peculiar people, the salt of the earth (those striving to circumspectly follow God through Christ and his apostles, thereby being the light of the world), we almost always fail (Matt.5:13-16; Eph.5:12-17; Titus2:14; 1Pet.2:9-10). For some reason, the Church does not like peculiarity, but enjoys similarity. The Church does not like to be the light, but enjoys darkness. Is it because we do not want to suffer as our Lord did, and those that followed him? This is neither the mind of Christ, nor the look of Christ and we should be ashamed. We are the salt that has lost its savor. We need to get back in the scriptures and be the sojourners, peculiar people, and the (1)salt of the earth; thereby being The Light of the world. We need to be “an example of the believers” as Christ and his apostles has commanded.

WHAT CHRISTIA S MUST DO TO KEEP OUT OF HIS GRASP, (THE DEVIL) Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ( ot a fleshly armour of war, not a voting machine, but, The Word of God and prayer!) 1 Tim 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: (KJV) 2 Tim 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 o man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.(KJV) James 4:3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.(KJV) I Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. Eph 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk (1)circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. 11 These things command and teach. 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. (KJV)

1 Tim 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (KJV) Rom 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (KJV) 2 Cor 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (KJV) Contrary to what some, if not most believe, Rom.12:18 doesn’t mean if you can’t live peacefully, it’s OK to fight, for our fight must be a scriptural/spiritual one. We, as true Christians,

must suffer wrong. We must not harm, fight, kill or voluntarily support those that do. Christians are to be killed, to suffer wrong. Please hear Jesus and his apostles: Luke 23:34; Acts 7:59-60; 1Cor. 6:7-8; 1Thes.5:15; 1Pet.2:19-23; 1Pet.3:9. Christians, i.e. followers of God through Christ and his apostles must be the doves, the lambs, the little ones, just as our Lord was; meek and gentle unto all men, also as those that followed him: (Please hear Jesus and his apostles: Matt.10:16; Matt.21:17; Mark9:42-50; John10:7-16; Acts20:29-38; Phil.2:12-16; 1Thes.2:1-9; 2Tim.2:19-20; Titus3:1-3; Heb.7:22-27; James 3:13-18 and 4:1-10; 1Pet.2:1825). 1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous (1)scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. (KJV)

Definition: (1)And if the righteous scarcely be saved 3433 molis (mol’-is); probably by var. for 3425; with difficulty, 2) not easily, that is, scarcely, very rarely: KJV— hardly, scarce (ly), + with much work. We MUST remember Christians are “legal aliens” on the earth; for we were born here. But being born again in Christ Jesus by being buried with Him in baptism (Rom.6:1-9; Col.2:8-12; 1Pet.3:20-22), we MUST rise up a new man, a new creature. Please hear the apostle Paul; Rom.12:1-2; 2Cor.5:16-17; Gal.6:14-18; Eph.4:20-24; Col.3:1-17. We MUST use our OLD EARTHLY citizenship only as our Lord and Savour Jesus Christ, the apostles, and others that followed them; because after baptism our conversation, (citizenship) is in heaven, but we must go to work! Let’s listen to Jesus: Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? John 4:33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to fin-

ish his work. John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Even though Jesus’ Kingdom was and is not of this world, some seem to have thought that he might not pay taxes. Again, let’s here Jesus: Matt 22:16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? 21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. 22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. Even though Jesus said, “give tribute unto Caesar”, which were taxes, it is scripturally clear that he reaped not the full benefit of being a citizen, by loving his life here, for he was “a man of sorrows”, (hear the prophecy; Isah.53:1-12). He was born in a manger (feed trough), and not in an inn (lodge), (see Christ; Luke 2:1-16). He had not the advantage of even good transportation, being at that time King of the Jews, which is now the savior of all men that obey him (Heb.5:5-19). But, of one of the roughest riding animals it was, no horses, chariots or men bearers, (please see Christ; Matt.21:1-9). The Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did not even have a place to lay his head, please hear Christ: Luke 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

WHAT IS TRUTH? VOTING 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, o man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Jesus and those that followed him must have truly HATED their lives here, especially being TAX PAYERS (tribute). For our sake, this TAX PAYER suffered to live a self denying lifestyle while here on earth that ended cruelly on the cross, again for our sake. As those that followed him before us done, we as Christians MUST do today, for Christ’s sake. The apostle Paul had to use his “old earthly citizenship” on several occasions, and of course it was only for spiritual reasons. He used this so that he would be free to live in peace, to preach the gospel for the saving of SOULS and to attend to the things of the Lord, without distractions; just as Christians must do today: Acts 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus

Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. 35 And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go. 36 And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace. 37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out. (KJV) (Please read all of chapters 16; 21; 22). Acts 23:27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. (KJV) (Please read all of chapter 23). Remember Christians must use their “old earthly citizenship” only as a WORK VISA, just as those before us. For this earth is a Christian’s work place; for the purpose of being able to move about on it peacefully if possible, to work out our soul salvation and then go home to our Father, which is in HEAVEN; Please hear the apostles Paul and Peter; Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always

obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. (Please hear James1:21-27 and 2:17-26). 1 Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without

respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Pet 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (see also Heb.11:13-16 and Heb 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire.) Dear reader remember what JESUS said in John 8:47 “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God”. Now ask yourself this question, who is, and/or is willing to be a faithful Christian? For Jesus said

there will be FEW; Matt.7:1329; Matt.20:16 and 22:14. CHRISTIA , THE MOST MISAPPLIED, MISUSED A D ABUSED AME, O THE FACE OF THE EARTH! Again, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe by using definitions and the preponderance of scriptures; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture, allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. KATY TIGERS ROLL TO 5A DIVISION II TITLE AT 16-0 By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas- Before a crowd of 42, 621 the Katy Tigers clawed their way past a hard fighting Cedar Hill Longhorns group to claim their 7th state title 35-24. Twice the Tigers fell behind and twice they came back strong behind the hard running of Adam Taylor who broke the Longhorns down for 282 yards and five touch-

downs while walking away with the Offensive Most Valuable Player. The Tigers defense had some very good numbers from senior linebacker Barry Cole and Carson Strickler as well as junior backer Jake Blomstrom. While the Tigers defensive front led by Matt Dimon winner of the defensive player of the game along with Cody Geesler and Tim Wilkerson.

booted a 36 yard field goal to open the scoring, but Katy answered early in the second period with a one yard run by Adam Taylor. It was Taylor again from 17 yards out and Katy went up 14-3. Quickly two minute later Brandon Harris grabbed a Damion Hobbs pass from nine yards out and the score read 14-10 at the half. Taylor added a big 10 yard run and it looked like Katy was

going to run away at 21-10. Then Cedar Hill scored when Hobbs ran 24 yards for a score and then found Harris again from 21 yards out and the Longhorns went up 24-21 with only 9.22 left in the game.

Katy was ready to roll once again with a four play 65 yard drive with Adam Taylor breaking outside and running 56 yards for a score and a 28-24 lead with

6.46 left. With a less than two minutes left Taylor broke the Longhorns back with a42 yard run with 1:55 left and it was clear the Tigers were champions again. Quinn Atwood picked off a pass to seal the win as the Tigers knew the title was theirs once again and begin the grand celebration.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REPORT-ALLEN EDGES LAMAR FOR CLASS 5A DIVISION I CROWN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas-The Lamar Redskins represented the Houston Independent School District very well in the state Class 5A Division I title game. Their big game had ups and downs and when the dust settled at Cowboys Stadium, Allen had eased out of the building with a 35-21 victory. But one thing is for sure the 48,379 fans who paid to see the contest the second largest reported crowd to

see a high school University Interscholastic League state title game all got their money’s worth. The game started with Lamar's defense doing the job and forcing a punt and Allen's long snapper simply tossed the ball out of the end zone giving Lamar a team safety. But after they held Lamar on the free kick, Allen later scored on a 55 yard run on a four- play 71-yard drive when sophomore quarterback Kyler Murray broke out to the right

side and went 55 yards for a score. A little more than three minutes later, Allen got the ball again and on a called play Murray went 68 yards for a score and it really looked tough as Allen went up 14-2. But midway in the second period the Redskins got rolling with a 10 play 78 yard drive as fullback Cory Mitchell got open and Darrell Colbert found him on a 41 yard completion for a score. With the score 14-8 the Eagles would strike again and it was a

three- play seven yard drive and Cole Carter hauled in a 12 yard scoring pass from Kyler Murray and a commanding 21-8 lead. However the Redskins were 150 coming into the game and they again went to work on a big five- play 80 yard drive as Darrell Colbert took it in from seven yards out to close to 21-15 at the half. With about two minutes left in the third period the Redskins went six plays and 46 yards for a game tying score when Beau Wells hauled in an 18 yard pass from Darrell Colbert. The point after touchdown sailed wide right and the game was tied at 21. But only one minute and 36 seconds later Marcus Ward went one yard for a score and Allen went into the fourth period up 28-21. This set the stage for a very big fourth period when the hitting was fierce, hot and heavy. Allen defensive back Cameron Hartsfield won the Defensive Player of the game with his performance. Finally with six minutes and siz seconds left in the game Marcus Ward went 67 yards for a score to basically put the game out of reach and it was the second big one play scoring drive for Allen of the night and their third play of more than 50 yards for a score. Fact is Lamar racked up 25 first downs to Allen's 10, clearly a case of big plays winning the game for Allen. When you compare the two schools Lamar has 3250 students while Allen has 5388 as evidence by that band of more than 800 students. Looking at those odds I’m saying Lamar did a fine job and represented Houston and the HISD very well. We spoke with long time coach Tom Nolen about the outcome and gathered some of his thoughts. “We don’t know about carrying H.I.S.D. this year, but all we know is we feel good about our program at Lamar and

we are not afraid to play anyone”. Nolen went on to say it was a wonderful feeling to play in the beautiful Cowboy Stadium and before the big crowd of more than 48 thousand fans plus a big following who made the trip from Houston. “Our side had tons of people and we feel it’s been a great year for us and from the middle of the year we played Bellaire and we got a feeling we were growing up, hey man I’m going to cry over some of the seniors we are losing but we are basically a young team and we have 12 or 13 starters coming back”. Nolen says the alumni calls me all the time asking me to compare our team against theirs and I say our team is better; they are playing for a state title and we all had a laugh out of that, but we had a tremendous group of followers and this is great for Lamar and the H.I.S.D.”. He praised his quarterback Darrell Colbert, a junior who is not being highly recruited. "Hey this kid plays hard every play and I think colleges a missing out but we think that will change and he’ll have the opportunity to play for some school because he certainly is capable”.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REPORT-ALLEN EDGES LAMAR FOR CLASS 5A DIVISION I CROWN In closing Nolen said the ball didn’t bounce their way in the first half and he truly thought Wells was down on the catch

that was ruled a fumble and it setup Allen at the 13 yard line. “It looked as though he was down to me but the official didn’t call it so that’s the end of that”. Nolen said the kids did themselves proud and they finished 15-1 and had a good shot to win it all and it just didn’t work out.

Arlington Texas-As the clock wound down to zero during the final game of the Texas High School football season, I watched the sad reaction of the Houston Lamar fan base. Fact is they were heartbroken. Lamar gave their all and came up a few plays short of winning the state title. The players were really sad, coaches were walking and hugging those within their sights along with fans making that long exit out of Cowboys Stadium. I was sitting in the press box trying to come up with an idea for a column when suddenly I remembered the single best playoff game I ever saw. How could I forget Madison and North Shore’s1-58 classic in 2001? That game had people talking about it for years. But that one game changed high school football in Houston and the state of Texas forever. How you ask? It exposed the athletes to colleges from around the country. Manyschools began

recruiting Texas like never before. It’s no wonder that so many Texas players are seen on fosters all over the fruited plains. I believe firmly that Lamar’s advancement to the state finals will do the exact same thing. Many of our local athletes will get the many more oppurtunties to attend college and play football on athletic scho;arships. Having said that University of Houston, Rice, Texas Southern Houston Baptist, Prairrie View and some of our junior colleges have the best selection of great local talent maybe in their history. No need for local alumni to complain about the Big XII or the Southeastern Confereces taking all the state’s best from you. Get to work; the young athlets male and female are out there waiting to recieve your letter stating your program is interested in them becoming a athlete signed to scholarship at yur institution. Trust me it can and should hap-

pen. For example both T.S.U. and P.V. should be winning Southwestern Conference titles yearly with ease with recuits from high schools in the fourth largest city in the countryHouston. Houston and Rice should have bowl game access yearly. H.B.U. should begin winning within three to five years. The junior colleges should have their pick of which athletes to select to attend their programs. Sounds to simple to believe? Well it really isn’t sort to speak. No it really is easy. For too long our local schools have used those tired excuses that the athletes don’t want to attend our universities , so they don’t even try to recuit them. This excuse as the old saying goes-’that horse don’t trot’ won’t cut it any longer. We are not going to allow them to use that line anymore. They are going to get to work, recruit heavy in Houston and find those rough stones that can be transformed into smooth beautiful diamonds and make houston proud. So you see dear reasers Lamar’s loss wasn’t bad at all. Finally a win for Houston is within our grasp. As an old favorite Prince song I quote here-LET’S WORK That’s just the way I see it!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK KATIE FROEHLICH - LAMAR Arlington, Texas-Before a massive crowd of more than 48 thousand fans at Cowboy Stadium, you could hear one voice loud and clear. That’s the voice of junior cheerleader cocaptain Katie Froehlich who was having the time of her life. While holding a 4.3 Grade Point Average, the junior at Lamar High School is planning her future as she cheered her team all the way to state. The charming and talented daughter of Kathy and Gilbert Froehlich likes Math in the classroom best at Lamar, because the challenges and learning experiences that comes from it. With goals and objectives of getting into the School of Business at Texas A & M University, Katie says she really wants to get into event planning as her favorite goal in

life. Attending church services under the Lutheran Faith, Katie says it has been so helpful in keeping her values and life in check as well as keeping her on the right track. This brings us to the most driving force in Katie life, who just happens to be her mother Kathy. “Without a doubt it’s my parents and especially my mom, because she has always pushed me to be the best at whatever I set out to do”. As we spoke more with the soft spoken student she seems amazed that we were covering high school sports when Tom Nolen took over the football program at Lamar 28 years ago.

She really felt good about our conversation when we informed her we wrote stories on Ja Coya Neloms the current captain of Lamar Varsity cheerleader when she was with the Studewood Cobras and it was Neloms who recommended her for the profile. We really got her attention when we informed her we wrote the first story on Lamar outstanding defensive linemen Zelt Minor who’s SMU bound.

someday you just might be reading a Super Bowl Program and it will read event programmer Katie Froehlich.

Page 15

In closing Katie says she really doesn’t follow politics but as far as she can tell Barack Obama is doing a pretty good job as the first African American President.

When asked about the school spirit at Lamar these days Katie says it has to be a 10. “With success of our football program out student body and administration have truly embraced our events and we have their undivided attention”. On the subject of having anything to do over in life Katie says she feel very good about her young life and would not change a thing. “I’m a firm believer that you learn from your mistakes and right now here I am cheering for the high school that I love in the state title game I wouldn’t change that for nothing in the world! Speaking of events who knows

KYLER MURRAY-ALLEN - ADAM TAYLOR-KATY get it done.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK KYLER MURRAY-ALLE Arlington, Texas-Who could have thought that a sophomore QB would be the player of the game in the state championship class 5 A showdown. Well that’s what happens as Kyler Murray rushed 16 times for 172 yards

and two big touchdowns. He told the press he was a bit nervous at first and he started to settle down as the game went on. “Nothing was there on that first run but I just had to make a play against their pretty good defensive line, but we thought we could do some things against their secondary”. That they did with 250 yards rushing but three big plays did the trick. “This was the first time I’ve been here as a player and it took a little getting used to but we got the win. In his spare time Murray hit on 7 of 16 passes for 49 yards and one touchdown and the Redskins sacked him 3 times in the game.

Kyler Murray QB from Allen accounts for 300 yards and three touchdowns as Eagles win state title

His second run of 67 yards for an Eagle score came off a designed play and he explained. “It was a designed play and it broke open and I just cut up and ran it in from 60 yards or so out”. He kept saying he was just trying to help his team a state championship and he’s glad to

In closing Kyler added his has two more years and would like nothing better than to win two more state titles. ADAM TAYLOR-KATY Arlington, Texas- There has been some great backs in the state of Texas history but this kid Adams Taylor is going down as the greatest of all-times. He rushed for 283 yards and scored all five of Katy Tigers touchdowns including a 42 yards run on fourth and one. Clearly all 42,621 paid attending and over 200 media persons had to know he was going to get the football. The big back that is bound for Nebraska did his thing. Let us not forget he missed his junior year with an ACL injury but this kid came back with avenges and closed out one of the best high school performance of all times. “I want to thank my fullback (Alex Fisher) on a find job of lead blocking and my offensive line did a super job”. Taylor went on to say he noticed the Cedar Hill Longhorns getting slower and slower and then he knew the Tigers were wearing them down. “We we saw them getting tired we just turned it up on them and went on to win the

state title. QB Kiley Huddleston clearly calls Taylor the best back in the country and added he should be the number one recruit in the nation. Over the years the Tigers had always kind of had an all around high school football team with one of two players who might stand out it. It is very clear Taylor stood out on this day and his efforts proved to be the difference in the ball-

game. A total of 30 carries but the thing most people don’t notice about Taylor is his great blocking abilities. While clearing the way for Alex Fisher who ran 9 times for 46 yards as the fullback and Rodney Anderson who chipped in 27 yards in only 5 carries to give the Tigers a whopping 7 yards per carry average in the game.

LAMAR TAKES REGION III TITLE WITH BIG WIN OVER NORTH SHORE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Pasadena, Texas-The Lamar High School Redskins rolled past Galena Park North Shore 27-7 at Pasadena Memorial Stadium. The win gives the first Region III title win for an Houston Independant School Distric school since Vince Young led the Madison Marlins to the title in 2000 ironically it was against North Shore also. Tom Nolen, in his 28th season has carefully built this team and they are looking great going into week 15. With the balanced offense and a very stout defense the Mustangs are galloping toward a state title game on the big stage at Cowboys Stadium. The offense is led by junior signal caller Darrell Colbert who is the son of former Beaumont Westbrook state champion wide receiver Darrell Colbert of the 1982 title team. “Yes sir it was 30 years ago when my father won a state title when no one thought they could, so I think it’s great that I have a chance to do the same thing in 2012”. The smooth quarterback who can

hum the ball when he has too and still manages the good touch to complete short passes, went on the say the Redskins are Dallas Bound and their last stop is the title game. Receiver Shelby Walker made a big grab for the game’s first score and the Redskins coasted to victory. Fullback Cory Mitchell did the dirty work blocking and was rewarded with a late scoring run to put the game out of reach for good. The Redskins defense was once

again led by former Studewood Cobra Zelt “Peanut” Minor who made big plays and crossed up the blocking schemes for the North Shore squad all day long. A week later it was Minor again making some big plays in the Redskins win over San Antonio O’Connor 15-7. In a game where the offense didn’t produce a lot, the defense took center stage and they got the win. By the time you read this the Redskins would have faced Allen for the Class 5A Division I title. RICK ROBERTS RUTABAGA “MERRY CHRISTMAS WORLD” COULD BE A CLASSIC By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Houston native and longtime radio voice Rick Roberts has plenty to be thankful for this time of the year. It just so happened that back in 1969 after about 10 years on the radio, Roberts was approached by the late Mildred Jones to do a Christmas song. Jones along with her Sister Carolyn teamed to be the Houston famous Jones Sisters. According to Roberts they were Houston Independent School District teachers by day and outstanding ballroom performers at night. “They both played the piano and they were truly great so Mildred wrote the song Merry Christmas World” and to this day it has a special place in my heart. By 2009 we did a special on Rick Roberts profiling him as our Fiesta

Lifetime Achievement winner and did that bring back memories. Fact is it was then when Rick asked me if I knew where he could find a copy of his xmas song. A few months later Joe Harris called me and informed me he had the song on cassette so we picked it up from him and had Vel Locks to digitally re-master it and it came out great. So we took it over to Rick and gave him copies and played it for him. “Oh Wee King man you have really brought back memories for me with this one”. We followed that by sending Don Samuel a copy and he played it on the radio at KCOH AM 1430 and brought Rick on to talk about it as well.

Robey. We are also told that Mildred Jones had a daughter name Cassandra and we certainly would like to talk with her about the record. So please we would like to hear the daughter of the late Mildred Jones or her sister Carolyn or Andre Williams or anyone else who was at the recording back in 1969 on the corner at Lyons and Jensen drive.

As is the case we’ve always visited with Rick Roberts and he has a wealth of information as well as historic value. If we are able to find the rightful owners we certainly will put the song on the market and make it available worldwide. So please if you all know any of the people please have them call King Arthur Prayther at (281) 999-4244 or simply email us at kingsizeview@hotmail.com and let’s get

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK JAVIER LOPEZ - KATY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas-Despite the fact he lost his helmet a couple of times senior offensive lineman Javier Lopez was blocking for a state title. By the way he got it as Katy rolled over Cedar Hill 35-24 to claim the Class 5A Division II title before 42,621 fans at Cowboy Stadium.

Starting with center Brandon Dalton, with Ben Skrabanek, Corey May, Jared Gonzales, Hunter Bell and tight end Sloan Spiller, Javier Lopez and company took care of business all

night long. Keeping the quicker rushers from Cedar Hill out of touch with Katy running backs and certainly keeping them away from their injured quarterback Kiley Huddleston. That was the key to the win and the Tiger blockers including full back Alex Fisher. Wide receiver Andy Coonrod caught all three of Huddleston completions also did a fine job of done field blocking as Taylor ran wild. Sophomore Rodney Anderson rushed for more than 1,000 yards this year and added 49 more in the title game.

receive, but when it comes to our relationships, it's not okay to share all of you, or give everything you have, and get nothing in return. It's not a perfect world when it comes to relationships and people, there are givers and takers, without some kind of balance things can only work for so long, unless you like the short end of the stick. I know you

have heard the song about a 50/50 love. What do you consider your love? Let's be realistic, 60/40, 70/30, hmmm you tell me. Sometimes the holidays make our love lives different, maybe even better. It could be that natural spirit of the holidays. In light of the recent tragedies though any thing is possible. I received an email from a young lady who knew things were not quite right with her relationship, but chose not to do anything about it until after the holidays. She said she had her children happiness in mind so she made the sacrifice and stayed in her relationship. This brings us to the next seasonal love thing. Why do people wait for the the new year to make changes? We are a tradi-

tional society, meaning that the new year means out with the old and in with the new, or it is time to make the changes in life to make it better, whether it is jobs, weight loss, or relationships. What changes do you plan on making in 2013, since the world didn't end and yes short of global warming we will be around for a little longer. Getting away from love for a minute and speaking of traditions it looks like the institution of KCOH will be around awhile longer thanks to someone in the community stepping up. I commend them and those of you who were truly concerned about the welfare of KCOH and it's staff we thank you. The top love songs of this month are 1) Neither One of Us Glady

Javier Lopez (79) of Katy cleared the way for record breaking rushing season for Katy Tigers -photo by Dr. Victor Keys Knight 2) Distant Lover Marvin Gaye 3) Love Won't Let Me Wait Major Harris 4) Woman to Woman Shirley Brown and 5) Love Don't Love Nobody The Spinners. Look for a lot of great events in year 2013, come out and join us. Also I'd like to thank Mrs Cloud and John Davis at Gulfgate Dodge for making my Christmas come true with a brand new vehicle and they can do the same for you, just tell them Stevie T sent you. So until next time keep a little love in your heart, the look of love in your eyes, and don't let a day go by without telling someone you love them, even if that someone is you.

Out and About with John Engel ADVENTURE ON THE HIGH SEAS I love to travel! My most recent adventure was a Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic. Currently there are five ships sailing from the Port of Galveston. The Disney Magic offers themed cruises of 4, 6, 7 and 8 days to Western Caribbean ports. The Magic is owned by Disney and, of course, the Disney theme is seen throughout the ship. There are many activities for families and children. Royal Caribbean Cruise lines has stationed the Mariner of the Seas in our back yard. Hosting 3114 guests, this 1020 foot long ship offers seven day cruises to Honduras, Belize and Mexico. New to Galveston is the Crown Princess. Slightly smaller at only 920 feet it is still capable of hosting 3120 guests. One of the newest ships in the Princess fleet; it was built in 2006. Carnival Cruise Lines has assigned two ships to Galveston; the Triumph at 893 feet and hosting 3427 guests was built in 1999 and refurbished in 2008. The granddaddy of the Galveston’s ships is the Carnival Magic. At a whopping 1004 feet it is capable of carrying 3690 passengers per trip. Both of the carnival ships offer Western Carrabin cruises, five days for the Triumph and seven for the Magic. The cruise we booked was scheduled to go to Kingston, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. We departed at about 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon to clear skies and calm waters. As sun set, we walked around the ship to see our home for the next week and learn what

it had to offer. There are two formal dining rooms with two levels each and two sittings per night. We were in the rear dining room on the top floor with an early seating. (Keep that straight in your mind.) When you are seated, the waiter brings you a menu. The most noticeable thing on the menu is the lack of prices. Of course all dining is included in your cruise except for a couple of premium restaurants. Menu items on the trip included shrimp entrees, lobster, steak and several unusual dishes each night. The meals start with an appetizer. I totally fell in love with the cold soup options. One thing I learned on a previous trip is that you are able to mix and match menu items. In fact, if you are very hungry you can order two items if you want. Or you may decide to add a shrimp plate to your steak. Formal dining is only one of the many options on the ship. There is a 24 hour pizza bar; 24 hour self-serve ice cream; late night sandwich shop; two breakfast buffets, poolside hotdog and hamburger bar and room service. All is included in the price. If anyone gets off a cruise ship hungry it is your own fault! Dining aside there is never a lack of entertainment. The Magic hosts a set of water slides and a kiddy playground. There are several pools and hot tubs including two hot tubs in the adult area on the top deck at the front of the ship. On one of the top decks there is a basketball court and jogging track. The ship has a huge outdoor theater with a diamond vision screen on

Other activities include a comedy club, piano bar, brew house, three story theater and health club. In the atrium there was a piano lounge with various singers and we enjoyed a karaoke show almost every night. There is also a casino on board if you wish to try your luck. Each day a newsletter is delivered to your cabin listing the day’s activities and options. We would take this guide with us to the fantail on the Lido deck and enjoy buffet breakfast at the rear of the ship while watching the beautiful blue sea. Carnival is known for its towel animals. There was even a towel folding class offered while at sea. Each night we returned from dinner to see a new creation in our cabin. One night a monkey appeared. He became a favorite of ours and we arranged for him to stay with us for the remainder of the trip. On the second day, which was a “Day at Sea”, we went into the theater to see a seminar in shopping in Jamaica. During the presentation the captain came on the intercom to announce a slight change in plans. Due to Tropical Depression 13 we were not going to make it to Jamaica or Grand Cayman. TD13 later grew and became Hurricane Sandy, the worst storm to hit the Atlantic Coast in history. We were informed that the new destinations were Key West, Costa Maya and Cozumel. Key West is an incredible place. It is where Ernest Hemmingway spent much of his life as well as the home of Jimmy Buffett. We were able to visit Sloppy Joe’s bar where Hemmingway spent much of his time. We also stood at the southernmost point of the United States and at Mile Zero of US Highway #1. Key West is also the closest US point to Cuba, only 90 miles away. This is a town that loves a party and has many excuses to enjoy it. We were there close to Halloween and the preparations were in full swing. One final note on Key West, if you ever get there, stop in at one of the many small restaurants and try some Conch balls. These treats made of Conch (a type of huge clam) are deep fried and well worth the price.

Our next destination was Costa Maya, after a two day sailing. This small town is fairly new to the cruise industry. It was built almost entirely with the American ships in mind. You get off the ship and enter the tourist village, full of bars, tourist shops and other entertainment options. A variety of shore excursions are offered. We opted for a mini jeep tour. A converted truck took our group of about 30 people to a remote site where we got our mini jeeps. These are basically four wheel drive off road vehicles with pickup like beds. Our guides led us through a very difficult series of trails through mud, water and along the beach. After about an hour of driving and bouncing we stopped at a beautiful beach were we were able to purchase beverages and food. Snorkeling was offered at no additional charge. After our break we boarded our converted bus for a trip back to the tourist village where we had about three hours to shop and play before the ship sailed. Our final port was Cozumel. This island, like Costa Maya, is designed to attract and entertain tourists. To escape the tourist village we elected to take a dune buggy adventure. From the village we rode in a convoy of about 12 buggies toward the south beach. Before we made it to the beach, we managed to break two buggies. The staff was right on top of it, though, and had replacements almost as soon as we pulled off the road. We took the main road south until we got to the beach road. From there we stopped at a small Mayan ruin and a crocodile habitat. Next we headed for a private beach for some snorkeling and a great meal (included in the price of the tour). After eating we headed to a very old light house and marine museum. After this stop it was back to the tourist village where we had a couple of hours to enjoy a drink at an outdoor bar and were entertained by some local talent. One note here about tourism in Mexico: a lot of bad things have been said about security in Mexico. At no time did we feel less than 100% save. Our tour guides took very good care of us and saw to our every need. The locals appreciated our business and did everything that they could to make us feel welcome. Our final day was spent at sea where we were able to wind down and enjoy the luxury that the Magic had to offer. Sitting

15 decks above the sea in a hot tub watching the world go by is extremely relaxing! So, what is the cost for all this? Much less than you would expect. With some careful shopping and the many discounts available you should be able to enjoy a cruise for less than $125 per day per person. This was for an outside cabin with a window on a lower deck. With the stormy waters this turned out to be a blessing as there was little ship movement. Cabins with balconies and on higher decks will run you more. Inside cabins will be available for less. Remember that this covers your cabin with 24 hour attendant, all meals except the specialty fine dining restaurants, entertainment and everything he ship has to offer. What are not included are soft drinks (an unlimited drink card is available for about $7.00 per day), alcoholic beverages, shipboard purchases and tips. When you board you are given a sign and sail card that doubles as your room key. You can use it for all purchases. At the end of the trip you are given a bill that includes a suggested tip. We paid the suggested amount but added some additional gratuity for the dining staff as they went far above and beyond what was expected. Using a cruise booking agent you will be able to save a lot of money and possibly receive a cabin upgrade. A few other things to consider are parking on the island. It will run you from $40 to $70 for a seven day cruise with shuttle included. Passengers are permitted to bring one bottle of wine peer adult on the trip for dinner service (there is a corkage fee). Boarding the ship can take up to two hours and the same for departing. After all getting 3600 people and luggage off and on the boat is a major task. Watch out for the “no cash” trap. Drinks and purchases are signed for and billed at the end of the trip. Just be aware of what you are spending so you are not shocked when you get the bill! Compared to the cost of domestic travel with fuel, lodging and meals, cruising can be a great value if you are able to sit back and enjoy what the sea has to offer.

Tip #5 With all your social activities and new adventures, we must also take time to focus on our well being. This will ensure we are well equipped physically and mentally to enjoy it all. Exercise regardless if its 10 minutes or an hour stretch or create your own yoga moves. You can start with a simple walk every day, and then incorporate spurts of jogging. You might find yourself getting fit, or entertaining the idea of running a 10k. Whatever your fitness level your body will thank you for just moving. Eating right does not mean giving up all your favorite treats, if that were the case I wouldn't last a day! I've often heard that saying you’re going on a diet puts your mind and body on the defense. So, instead I gently remind myself to just use good judgment on food portions and to add more fruits and

vegetables to daily meals. Also, water spiked with a little lemon is a delicious drink to have throughout the day. Once we’ve reached grade school we are often told to stop daydreaming so let’s go back! Think positive and envision how you want your life to be for example: If you want a house envision that house and you living in it; if you want to travel to a special place get pictures of it and imagine yourself walking through that city. Day dream but do it with feeling! We should never stop daydreaming, that's the place where great ideas are born; you get clear on the life you want. Meditation and prayer can start with just a few minutes a day but it’s so important to do in order to open the mind to positive thoughts which leads to positive actions. And most importantly as I heard

Joyce Meyer say “Eat the cookie and buy the shoes”, basically you MUST treat yourself. That is a very important part of life and you should not feel guilty about it or having what you want, not the feeling of sacrifice but truly enjoying and having

something that your heart desires. Enjoy the feel of some new shoes that I’m sure you look great in, as well as the chocolate chips in your cookie. Take time to give your mind an opportunity to rest and reflect.

Create a routine, make it simple to start, a simple thank you for a new day, a stretch, an apple with breakfast and to live each day with intention. Enjoy, See you in the New Year!

MAINLAND EXPRESS WINS FRESHMEN SUPER BOWL TITLE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Mainland Express freshmen squad from Texas City won the 2012 Super Bowl title over the Fifth Ward Cowboys 19-0 in the Independent Youth Sport League. The seven and eight years old boys were happy and we got a chance to get photos of them. Having made the Super Bowl and taking home the big prize was special for the team and if memory serves me correct it was their first one. We got some good sounds from

the Disc Jockey and Robert Nelson the Public Address announcer along with Coach Fred plus over four thousand fans at Jones-Cowart Stadium in North Forest Independent School District. It was great to see so many people attending a Little League Super Bowl but it goes to show just how hard the Cobras, Cowboys, Colts, Bull Dogs, Jags and the Tigers worked to make this a reality. For more than 30 years now we have covered sports in the Metro-Houston area and never have we seen such a fine crowd.

ROSEWOOD TIGERS EDGE STUDEWOOD COBRAS FOR VARSITY SUPERBOWL TITLE IN IYSA LEAGUE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Rosewood Tigers won a thriller over the Studewood Cobras to claim the Varsity Super Bowl 2012 title 20-19. Thanks to a hard run by Joshua Wyatt, on a point after touchdown run breaking three tackles on the way to pay dirt. But the hard running of Robert Flint, who also scored from 33 yards out to bring the Tigers to within one point. Jaiden Anderson ran well all game long and he and Wyatt both played well on defense. In only their third season under the leadership of Walter Penrice Jr. the Tigers are growing in leaps and bounds. “King we took a lot of beatings to get this program on track and this year we were 11-1 and won the Super Bowl title in the Independent youth Sports Association”. Penrice went on to add he feels the Tigers are on the right track and with a very good staff behind him he feels it can call happen again. “Hey King, I’ve got a lot of people helping to make this happen, first of all my secretary Shawanica Batiste and vice president Alvina Reynolds hold things down while I do work for the league as well as the president of our organization”. Walter went on to thank Athletic Director Carl Shields and coaches Robert Fatty and Jerome Anderson for their work as well. More importantly he wants to thank North Forest Superintendent Dr. Edna Forte for allowing them to use of Jones-Cowart Stadium and that’s been a big plus for his team and the league as well. “King we are so please with the Superintendent and we want to work with her and Mr. O’Connor along with Mrs. Rashun Julks who have been very supportive of our youth group. Those kids for the most

part will feed into North Forest High School. Fact is on February 23, 2013 the Tigers will hold their annual banquet at the old Smiley High School at 4:00 PM and the guest speaker is scheduled to be Zelt “Peanut” Minor all-district defensive end for state finalist Lamar High School and has signed to attend Southern Methodist University next year. Among the other outstanding players on the squad of varsity players are Damien Harris and Williams Phillips. Barbara Phillips has worked very hard to help the program over the years also. So has North Forest head basketball coach James Norman who also knows the value of

having good little league programs in order to keep local athletes in the area. In the flag Super Bowl game the Missouri City Colts beat the Tigers 20-6 to win the 2012 title. All four teams made the playoffs this year for Walter’s boys with the freshman and junior varsity squad losing in the first round. “It’s been a long time coming for us but now that we are champions we want to establish the long winning tradition like the Studewood Cobras".

“You know it’s about helping the kids for me and while with the Cobras we learned how to do that”. Having an early childhood in the North Forest area Walter Penrice Jr. has a special feeling toward the Homestead area and is having the time of his life working with these kids. Beating the Studewood Cobras is an honor for any coach and president of any little league. Clearly the Cobras who just completed 36 years and had more than 600 people attend

their banquet is certainly a good standard to measure by. In closing Walter Penrice Jr. added he feels good about the future of the Tigers and wants to thank the entire North Forest Community along with players, parents and supporters as well as coaches for the Tigers squad for a wonderful job. We certainly will do whatever we can with A King-Size View and kingsizeview.com to help make the most of the Tigers success in the coming years.

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas-After suffering a fractured bone in his left leg in Katy’s win over Cibolo Steele a week ago, Kiley got his clearance from the doctors and played in the state title victory over Cedar Hill. The talented junior hit on three of five passes for 44 yards but the main thing he did was hand off to the sensational Adam Taylor who ran for 282 yards and five touchdowns. “I think Adam should be the number one recruit in the country and I’m proud of the way our team played and we are state champs”. The excited Huddleston added there was no way he was not going to play in this game. We still remember seeing him limp back and forward to and from the huddle in the game against Cibolo Steele

that earned Katy the right to play for the state title. Keep in mind with his leadership qualities it’s easy to figure Kiley will be leading his team to state again next fall.

FIFTH WARD COWBOYS EASE PAST COBRAS JV By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Studewood Cobras met the Fifth Ward Cowboys in the Super Bowl Junior Varsity game and the defending champs Cobras knew to expect a good fight. The Cowboys were led by Trevon Neal of Marcella Elementary School. The nifty back got good yardage and scored the go ahead touchdown in the 12-6 win over the Cobras for the title in the Independent Youth Sports Association League title game. With this win over the 2011 champion Cobras squad, the rivalry is on and you know the Cobras will be back next years with plans of winning it all. That’s what make these little league showdowns so much fun to watch.

COACH OF THE WEEK - GARY JOSEPH - KATY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Arlington, Texas-It all started in 1994 as defensive coordinator under Mike Johnston for Gary Joseph and he made his 11th trip

to the state title game on Saturday past. The Tigers of Katy head man made his fifth trip as the head man as the Tigers whipped Cedar Hill 35-21 for their 7th state title and their

first since 2008. Winning 55 games with only 4 losses during that stretch, the Tigers made it 16-0 this season and reclaimed the King of the Hill image they set years ago. Many people had begun to think maybe just maybe some of their mystic had worn off, but that was not the case.

Junior quarterback Kiley Huddleston played the title game with a fractured bone in his left leg. That’s just how hard the players are willing to work with Joseph in order to keep the tradition going. Shying away from the attention the mild mannered Joseph said he feels Katy's pro-

gram is good as any state wide. “We try not to talk about the past but we feel pretty good about our program at present and into the future and will put it up against anyone else’s”. Joseph preferred to credit his school, players and community on a job well done for this year and leave it at that. “Our kids played hard in this game and fell behind but kept working hard and we truly played like champions down the stretch". Adam Taylor a Nebraska bound running back went for 282 yards and scored all five of the Tigers touchdowns in the win. “Our kids knew we had a fight on our hands and they played like

champions tonight and I’m so proud of them”.

In addition to a crowd of 42,621 paid attendances at Cowboys Stadium for the game the parents of Coach Joseph also made the trip and they certainly must be very proud of their son for the work he has done year in and year out. His phone rings so much he has a secretary and working as a high school football head coach is a full time 24/7/365 job for those of you who are wondering. It is the opinion of this writer Gary Joseph handles that better than most!

tion program and setting a new standard for little league football. The Cobras has actually retired a few jerseys in their years and those players have live up to their billing and then some. One such player is Zelt “Peanut” Minor of Lamar high school state finalist football team. Minor had his jersey number 60 retired and he showed why as he led Lamar to the state title game at Cowboy Stadium. As the meeting with more than 600 people in attendance took place people begin looking at the program designed by Ingrid Poindexter and LaKeisha Sanders. A great number of volunteers led by Kenovia Jones, Latrease Comeaux, Shantrell Culton, LaTroya Theus, Giovanna Dickerson, Latricia Hawkins and Tamika Johnson

As the program moved on to the guest speaker Dr. Phillip R. Kent Senior pastor Emeritus Houston First St. Matthews Church in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kent a graduate of BTW class of 1971 and went on to Baylor before going to the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. Kent who came to BTW in 1968 said it was an honor to find out about the Studewood Cobras and said they certainly a big part of the community. Kent even went so far as to joke the BTW Eagles could have used some of the Cobras on the field this year as they fell to 3-7 and did not make the playoffs. In 1986 Kent was inducted into Baylor University Hall of Fame and he received his Doctrine in 1996. He and his wife have 3 sons and 1 daughter. We had the pleasure to cover his sons in sports and

they like their father were outstanding athletes. In closing please allow us to thank Walter and Leandrea Penrice for another job well done. It’s because of their effort that’s such rewarding young people like Edward and Crystal Gidrey are such a growing part of the Cobras organization. The Garcia Family in particular among others have made the 2012 one of the best years in the Cobras organization. Plus a special thanks to Fiesta for once again leading the way in sponsorship of the state of Texas finest little league program. Please join us in 2013 as we open up year number 37 and it very well could be the best in Cobra football history.
