Most children who read or know the story come away with the message that things are not always as bad as they look and that something really beautiful can develop from what looks like failure. leslie Swann (the perfect name for lincoln High School’s first and only female principal) has accepted a daunting task—to take the ugliness of a low-performing yet historic institution and to put it back together again. lincoln High School (lHS) is broken. test scores are at a record low; and, community participation at one time very normative is now sporadic at best. perhaps worst of all, lHS students lack school pride while their teachers’ morale also shows signs of sig-

we place in our bodies and the number of years that we are able to remain on this earth,” he said. pastor carter, a proponent of “quality foods” said that he encourages his members, including children to eat right and to take supplements that supply nutrients that are missing in the foods that people eat. “we eat because we want our bodies to stay healthy,” he said. “we do not eat because we want to get fat or full. there is a direction relationship between what we consume and the number of years that we remain on this earth.” the guiding force behind the National Baptist movement is Reverend Michael o. Minor, the pastor of the oak Hill Baptist church in North Mississippi. For nearly a decade the pastor has preached against obesity and bad health. each church in the convention should have a health minister in place no later than September of this year, said Reverend George w. waddles Sr. the president of the convention’s congress of christian education.
