Trusting or Trying Galatians 3:1-14 ”You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit Henry Nelson by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?” ”Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.” ”All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written

in the Book of the Law." Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” hen washing a child’s hair you tell the child to put their head back and they would not get shampoo in their eyes. Their natural reaction is to put their head forward and rub their eyes, every time the water starts to flow. This illustrates the difference between trusting and trying. In today’s passage we come to the heart of the matter that Paul has been referring to up to this point in His letter to the Galatians: The conflict between two alternate roads to righteousness: Trusting and Trying. How does one please God? What makes a person truly a Christian trying to act in a way that seems pure and Godly or trusting in a Savior who paid the price for sin? Proposition: Paul Points out that there is a vast difference between these two roads to righteousness. Interrogative: So what’s the difference between trusting and trying and more impor-

W

tantly which is the right road? Transition: Let’s begin with the fact that these two roads have a different... 1. Prescription: Law vs. Faith 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? It’s a leading question that Paul is asking, because he knows that they received the Spirit when they believed the Good News that Jesus died for their sins--he was there when it happened. These other teachers who claimed that they must follow the external requirements of the law--what to eat, what to wear, how to look-they came along later with their new Prescription. Paul Asks which prescription, faith or the law led to your receiving the Spirit and salvation? The law is not able to work salvation, nor to change human hearts; all that it is able to do is show the need for salvation. The law is like a dentist’s little mirror, which he sticks into the patient’s mouth. With the mirror he can detect any cavities. But he does not drill with it or use it to pull teeth. It can show him the decayed area or other abnormality, but it cannot provide the solution. So the prescription of the Law leaves us sick, but the prescription of Faith leads to salvation. Next let’s consider the difference in Power between these two paths. 2. Power: Human Effort vs. The Spirit

C ity B eat . 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? What is the goal? Salvation of course, but I think not just in the futuristic, fire-insurance sense, but also in the sense of seeing our lives transformed here and now. God’s plan is to restore us from our fallenness not just later in heaven, but beginning here and now. The question is how can such a feat be accomplished? There are two paths you can attempt: Trying by Human effort or trusting in the power of the Spirit. The point I think is that the job is too great to be done by me that is why Christ died to pay the price for my sin, but not only that he won victory over sin and by his spirit empowers me as I yield myself to Him to reach that goal Consider the difference between a sailboat and a rowboat. In a spiritual rowboat the sailor is dependent upon human effort. In a spiritual sailboat the sails are raised in faith and the undying power of the wind of the spirit moves the boat it is still entirely necessary that the boat move, but the power source of the sailboat is unquenchable. There is also a difference in Pedigree between Trusting and Trying. If you would like the rest of this week’s message please request it at:revelations_7504

Giant In The Bottom Gone But Not Forgotten - Rev. Carlton Garrett By: Bettye “Katt” Williams ELITE NEWS STAFF WRITER

A

well-known man and minister, devoted as well as loved, Carlton Garrett passed away at the age of 82. Gone but not forgotten.

Reverend Carlton Garrett was born April 10, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of the late Mr. Frank and Mrs. Georgia Etta Garrett. A student of the Dallas Independent School District, Reverend Garrett attended elementary school at H. S. Thompson and graduated from Lincoln High School. He later attended Southern Bible Institute and received his diploma May 6, 1979. Pastor Garrett married Johnnie Mae Davis on January 10, 1948 of Dallas, Texas. To this blessed and holy union, eight children were born, Thomas, Carl, Denise, Georgia, Zelma, Paulette, Carlas and Alphér. on September 22, 1974, The Lord’s Missionary Baptist Church was organized by Rev. Carlton Garrett with 16 members in the South Dallas area at 2704 Parsons Street, without a place to worship. The church met and held worship services from house to house for a short period of time, until a place of worship was secured. The first location of the church was in the oak Cliff area on the corner of Ramona Street and Marfa Street. Deacon John Crowder and Brother Robert Piper prepared the building for worship, only to find out that the City of Dallas had previously condemned the building. Pastor Garrett said that he knew the Lord was at work because it was the Lord that had directed him to organize a church in the South Dallas area. The Lord then directed the pastor’s son, Rev. Carl M. Garrett to inform the church of an available building in the South Dallas area that needed repair and that site, 6722 Bexar Street, has been the location of the church for 37 years For many years, Pastor Garrett worked for Moncrief-Lenoir Co. After retiring from his professional career, he became a fulltime pastor. on September 22, 1974, Rev. Garrett founded and organized The Lord’s Missionary Baptist Church, and remained its Senior Pastor until his homegoing. As a community leader for South Dallas for 37 years, Rev. Garrett devoted his life to helping people in the surrounding South Dallas area helping to feed the hungry and caring for those

S

who were victims in the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. Some of you may have been one of the six people who participated in an online petition asking that Bexar Street (in South Dallas) be renamed as Rev. Carlton Garrett Street. on August 19, council members Dwaine Caraway, Carolyn Davis and Tennell Atkins sent to City Manager Mary Suhm a memo making a similar request, and said that “as soon as possible” they wanted to rename a short stretch of Municipal Street — from S. Central Expressway to Bexar — in honor of Garrett because of his work with the homeless, assisting various Dallas ISD schools and relocating Katrina evacuees. Even though there was a problem renaming the street because of the Dallas City Code, which says, “A street name commemorating a person or a historic site or area is prohibited until at least two years after the death of the person to be honored or the occurrence of the event to be commemorated.” But as we know then, Rev. Garrett was alive and well, which meant that a waiver was needed from the City Plan Commission and both the Subdivision Review Committee Recommendation and city staff to obtain recommended approval. “one of Rev. Garrett’s favorite quotes was, ‘We are in the heart of bon-ton and now the heart of bon-ton is broken.’ From my childhood Rev. Garrett has been nothing but ‘Daddy’ to me and a father figure to every man and woman all over South Dallas. His death to me has been like climbing a ladder, ‘something special to the skies.’ I can remember hearing Rev. Garrett say on Sunday mornings when he would open up the service, “Church what are we going to do?”

peRspecTive iN The black cOmmuNiTy Why Are The Sisters Of Delta Sigma Theta Being Stalked? By: Bettye “Katt” Williams ELITE NEWS STAFF WRITER

W

ith so many fraternities and sororities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, why would someone pick one group in Dallas to stalk? I’m sure many Delta Sigma Theta members in Dallas are asking the same question after being warned not to post personal information on Facebook, after a series of rapes by a man who may have checked them out on the Internet. I would like to know that answer as a concerned parent of a Delta Sigma Theta member. Sources in the Dallas Morning News state that while authorities are frantically searching for the serial rapist, who appears to be preying on alumnae of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the well-known black sorority is warning its members to be on the look-out for the attacker. In the last 10 months, four Delta Sigma Theta alumnae in their mid-50s and 60s have been attacked at night in their homes near Dallas. The first two rapes happened within five months of each other in Plano, a suburb northwest of Dallas with a population of 250,000. The third attack took place a short drive away in the small bedroom community of Coppell in September. The

most recent rape was on october 14 in Corinth, a few miles away. Delta Sigma Theta is a large organization, the victims went to different colleges and the attacks do not appear to be random. In one of the rapes, the man broke in through the victim’s garage, and in at least two other attacks, he accosted the women while they were asleep in their beds. The man, police said, seemed to have personal information about his victims. Investigators have released surveillance video that apparently shows the rapist walking around one of his victim’s homes on April 6. Another question is why did the attacker choose these particular victims? And, how did he get their names. The Dallas Chapter of the sorority, which is almost 100 years old, holds regular monthly meetings but police aren’t disclosing if the women attended them. This nonprofit organization has more than 250,000 members, mostly black college-educated women, and has more than 940 chapters in the united States, England, Japan (Tokyo and okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and South Korea. one of the community’s well-known journalist and friend, Cheryl Smith, who belongs to the sorority, chastised police for “dropping the ball” on the investigation. She told WFAA-TV, “We have to do whatever we can to

get this rapist off the streets.” Plano police spokesman David Tilley told NBC DFW, “I know they’re frustrated. I understand their frustration. We’re frustrated too.” The warning needs to go out to all the Dallas/Ft. Worth Sororities to be very careful, and prey the Police Departments find this man.

This will be the twenty third (23rd) year that this revival has been going on, I must give credit to Dr. Aaron Phillips for the success of this revival because most Pastors would never agree to a Revival of this kind. The reason why Pastor Phillips has permitted this type of Revival for 23 years, because he has seen the results that this kind of Revival produces. Every Pastor of any church, and convention or any District should want to see their men exposed to this type of service. Reconcile With One Another

W

hen the spiritual fellowship between man and God was broken, a basic void was formed in man's heart which led to a breakdown in his earthly relationships. The Geraldine moment we lost the Davidson-Hooker ability to walk in perfect harmony with God, we also became filled with self-importance and pride, and lost the ability to truly love one another. God created us to be in fellowship with other people - even imperfect, hard to love people. our quiet and peaceful times of study and prayer are essential for our Christian walk, but some of God's most important truths can only be learned as we stumble through difficult situations with others. only there can we learn the difficulty of true grace and forgiveness; only there can some of our own deep sin (like pride, jealousy, and anger) be revealed. Many relationships are filled with past pain particularly the relationships between husband and wife, and parent and child - but God's Word still stands as truth. He has provided the path to restoration; a path which begins with repentance, requires the cleansing of sinful pride, and leads to true love and forgiveness. Who do we need to reconcile with today? Full restoration requires the cooperation of both parties; but as a child of God, we can now cross the desert and begin to mend what is broken. Jesus died as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins in order that we may be reconciled with our Heavenly Father. He crossed ALL the way and completely mended our shattered heart! Let's walk in the light of His love and take the necessary steps to cross over and humbly reconcile with one another.

Notes From Union Hope

O

ur church school lesson was “Forgiving as God’s people” Matt.5:17-26. Jesus purpose for coming into the world was to fulfill the law and eld Lloyd T. Morgan establish God’s Kingdom. That meant living a God fearing life marked by obedience, self denial, and love. Before dying, Jesus declared, “it is finished”. Jesus had finished the work of fulfilling the Law, but not in the ways people expected. For example the scribes were outraged when Jesus told a sick man, “Take heart son; your sins are forgiven. “ Knowing the bystanders emerging criticism, Jesus queried, “is it easier to say, your sins are forgiven’ or get up and walk”? I will prove that I the son of Man have the authority on earth to forgive sins” Jesus then turned to the man “Stand up take up your mat and go home! The law Exacted punishment for sin it also provided a system of sacri-

fices for unintentional and intentional sin, the sacrifice of animals, however, could not completely atone for sin and only foreshadowed the atonement of Jesus Christ. For Jesus the fulfilling of the law meant becoming the sacrificial Lamb slain for humankind’s sins. He died for our sins, just as God the father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world we live in. because he was so forgiving we too must seek to pattern our lives after him by being willing to forgive one another. As believers we must realize that forgiveness is more liberating for the forgiver than the forgiven. our Sunday message was delivered by Rev. Elvis Edwards of Galilee missionary Baptist church where the Rev. L.R.Davis is the pastor. He took his text from Ps.100 and quickly encouraged us to come into the house of God with a joyous song in our heart, not one of about the blues. How can you sat in the presence of God with a nasty attitude, God only radiate Joy, we should sing joyous songs, songs of praise to him. Be Blessed

Prayer Closet

T

here are many people who pray but get no real satisfaction from the experience. They sat their prayers faithfully, but they know no intimate and comforting prayer life Pastor Clarence Henderson which makes each day a day of ultimate victory in Christ. others find prayer a hopeless endeavor and unconsciously abandon it for an almost prayerless existence. They become hard hearted and develop an inner deadness which only some terrible trouble can break. Ask them whether they believe in prayer and in a prayer hearing and a prayer-answering God and they will say “yes”, but it’s a lifeless, meaningless affirmation. The primary reason for this kind of prayer life is that people suffer from a divided allegiance. We must be committed to our prayer life.

his was a very festive weekend at Jerry’s world. They inducted some very deserving player into the prestigious “Ring of Honor”. Two Hall of Fame types Charles Haley, Larry Allen, and should be Hall of

Famer Drew Pearson. It was great to see my old friend Pearson finally makes it. All three were great friends of mine, but you always knew Charles and Larry would make it. But Drew had been over looked for over 20 years. yesterday I saw Michael Irvin on the NFL Channel and I thought what a contrast in personalities and talent. Sunday provided us with a look at three great receivers all number 88. Drew the original 88 Michael (Hall of Fame and Dez Bryant the current 88.

page 8

The first time I went to Valley Ranch to see Dez practice, I thought chip of the ole block. The Guy never dropped a pass, but he did spend a lot of time bending over holding his shorts, out of condition. That seemed to be the story of this guy’s life, there is always a positive declaration followed by a negative but. Dez can really catch…but, Dez can really run... But, Dez can really make big plays... But he’s out of shape, but he’s never on time, but he’s never runs a correct route. Coming to the Cowboys where such famous receivers played and are still willing and available for help. you would think this kid would start erasing some of those “buts”. Instead he seems to be adding them. He still have immature temper tantrums, He disappears in the 4th quarter. His game is not matured enough to make in game adjustments, defensive backs adjust to his play. But apparently he can’t or he’s not matured enough to make other adjustment, thus late in the game he disappears, can’t get open. I don’t believe in all my years I’ve seen a player as gifted yet as disorganized as Dez. Duane Thomas was as

gifted as anyone to play the game. The boys had big time problem with Thomas, but he was never unprepared to go work. Tom Landry said Duane never missed an assignment or ran the wrong route. I don’t know if Dez ever ran the correct route. The travesty of the situation is I don’t know if Dez is any better today than he was when he came out of oklahoma State or will he ever get any better. With a team full of injury prone players that get hurt at the sight of contact Terrence Newman, Myles Austin, Felix Jones, and a host of other key players with glass bodies. Plus a guy like Dez Bryant that missed changing his time to spring forward 10 years and every year since. This team will be as hard to Come back as the economy is, or bringing the Titanic back to South Hampton, England. Jimmie Johnson say’s you never stay the same you either get better or worst daily. If they can trade Dez now is the time while there are still some people naïve enough to think he can play in this league.

Honor Our African American Vetrians By: Bettye “Katt” Williams ELITE NEWS STAFF

N

ovember 11, 2011 - America will celebrate Veterans Day as they have done for many years. The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. Many Americans celebrate by going to cemeteries to lay a wreath at the Tomb of loved ones or unknown veterans to honor and thank all who served in the united States Armed Forces. on Veterans Day, we pay tribute to all veterans, to the fallen, and to their families. But we pay special tribute to the African American Veterans and to honor their contributions to our Nation. Let us strive with renewed determination to keep the promises we have made to all who have answered our country’s call. The National Veterans Day is in observance throughout the country, from stirring parades and ceremonies to military exhibits and tributes to distinguished veterans; these events serve as models for other communities to follow in planning their own observances. As our history books have told us in the past, World War I, to help fill the void, previously segregated factories began hiring AfricanAmericans from the rural South. over the course of the war and the next several decades, large numbers of African-Americans moved from the former slave-holding South to the industrial Midwest and Northeast. So many African Americans made the journey north that the entire period is known as The Great Migration. During the war, more than 1 million blacks left the poor, rural South for better jobs in the North, radically altering the racial balance of the united States. Before 1910, the black population of Chicago was 2%; by 1970 the figure was 33%, and much of that change happened during the years immediately following the war. one of the great lasting legacies of World War I is its influence on the racial makeup of the united States. Many African American soldiers served in the united States Army long before WWI. Free blacks and slaves enlisted in state militias and the Continental Army during the American Revolution. The famous Buffalo Soldiers on the western frontier

were revered for their martial abilities, and African-Americans fought in the Spanish-American War as well. But World War I marked a turning point for black soldiers, both on the battlefield and when they returned home. The fighting has been fierce. More Americans have given their lives. And as always, the thoughts and prayers of every American are with those who make the ultimate sacrifice in our defense. on January 13, 1997, the nation honored seven African American veterans of World War II with its highest military decoration for heroism, the Medal of Honor. The seven men, one of whom is still living, are the only African American soldiers who have received the Medal of Honor for World War II. President obama stated, “NoW, THEREFoRE, I, BARACK oBAMA, President of the united States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2011, as Veterans Day. I encourage all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through appropriate public ceremonies and private prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the united States and to participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I call on all Americans, including civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, and communities to support this day with commemorative expressions and programs.” President obama recently announced that the united States will withdraw nearly all troops from Iraq by the end of the year, effectively bringing the long and polarizing war in Iraq to an end. "After nearly 9 years, America's war in Iraq will be over," said President obama. He said the last American troops will depart the country by January 1, "with their heads held high, proud of their success, and knowing that the American people stand united in our support for our troops." I never quite knew about what the war was about or what effect it had on people until I finally saw pictures of my father in the Army and he explained why he had to go to war. But when my father passed away, I saw how well taken care of he was as a Veteran. There are plenty of familiar Black faces in the public eye who took time out of their lives to serve their country in the united States armed forces. Did you know Ice T served in the Army?

What about Sinbad’s time served in the Air Force? on Friday, November 11, 2011, the Veterans Day Parade will take place in Downtown Dallas, with massing of the colors; at 11:00 a.m., there will be a ceremony in front of City Hall. The parade will commence following the official ceremony (approximately 1 hour). The route will start at Reunion Arena, will proceed north on Houston Street, east on Main Street, south on Ervay Street, west on young Street, south on Akard Street and pass in review in front of City Hall. A heartfelt THANK you from the DFW Elite News and staff, to all of the courageous veterans, who served in the past, those who are serving right now, and for those who will serve in the future, we honor and respect you, we appreciate you, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. "How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!" - Maya Angelou.

The 2011-12 high school football seasons have been headlined by some of the DFW Metroplex elite teams, and lately Texas has dominated the rankings with the most state ranked teams. Almost this entire year has been deemed the top high school football power house in the National rankings. After the games this weekend, the regular season has come to an end, and a few coaches gave key players a much needed rest to heal from injuries and preparation for the games ahead. While some teams may be trying on new playoff uniforms, and working on new plays, many teams will be cleaning out lockers, painfully realizing that they may have played their final game. It also marks the beginning of the 2011-12 Texas Playoffs. Many area teams will be representing DISD, with the exception of Carter, who seen a playoff streak of 21 consecutive seasons come to an end. This 2011-12 high school football season has been filled with many headlines this year by different teams and players in high

school football from. Aledo’s Jonathon Gray shattered the touchdown record and closing in on career rushing record as well to Allen, Desoto, and Skyline. Which area teams do you think has the chemistry and balance to make it to the end of the Texas High School playoff Bracket? Class 5A has had a strong show case of talent and will be very competitive with such explosive teams as Skyline, South Lake Carroll, Euless Trinity, Allen, and Desoto. 5A Skyline High school (10-0) is expected to go deep in the playoffs with a #1 ranked offense and a 5th ranked defense which is a good balanced team chemistry that will have opponent’s watching plenty of film. Big stages have been set for some of the area’s biggest game’s which will be featured at none other than the Cowboy Stadium. 4A will also come equipped with stout defense’s and surprisingly all of the top defense’s in 4A all reside out of Fort Worth as in Carter-Riverside 111.17 yPG, Western Hill and o.D.Wyatt both 166yPG and Dunbar 180.9yPG are not giving up to many yards per game. We will see some very interesting match-ups in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. In 3A District Madison, Wilmer Hutchins, and Roosevelt will compete in the Post.Season.

He’s Now Fighting in Heaven! By Joseph E. Green-Bishop SPECIAL To ELITE NEWS

N

o doubt, Joe Frazier, the legendary boxer who was the heavyweight champion of the world and Philalphia business owner, passed on Monday of this week from Liver Cancer. Those close to him say that Frazier, a man of deep faith, is in heaven now and will not be asked to throw any punches. But if a fight does break out, “Smokin Joe” will be ready to battle. Frazier, who was sixty-seven years old when he passed, fought three monumental fights against Muhammad Ali. Even opponents of the boxing sport stopped what they were doing to watch two titans go after one another during their historic encounters. The world has lost a great champion,” said former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. “I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.” While Ali and Frazier pummeled one another in the boxing ring, they were friends out of the ring. When Ali was being sanctioned by the government and could not earn a living as a fighter, it was Frazier who helped him with money so that he could support his family. “Joe Frazier was the quintessential Philadelphia boxer,” said Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. “He represented the heart and soul of boxing in our great city.

In the ring and in neighborhoods, he carried himself with dignity and courage. He was a true ambassador for our city.” While Frazier did not have the opportunity to pursue an advanced education, he insisted that his children pursue college and advanced degrees. one of his daughters, taking her father’s encouragement became a lawyer and helped to manage some of her father’s business interests.

Frazier will always be seen in the shadows of Muhammad Ali, it is believed by many that he contributed to Ali’s status as the world’s most recognizable person. “There is no one in boxing that would ever dream of anointing Ali as the greatest if he had not fought Joe Frazier,” one boxing writer said. “He never gave an inch and he gave life everything that he had.”

rollin with a Brotha

W

elcome to the weeke n d , BABy! I was sitting and reflecting this past Wednesday on the sudden death of Hip H o p Legend/Icon Heavy Kevan Browning D! I thought about my family and friends and how we let time slip by without really connecting with them...Life is truly a vapor... Didn’t ya just love Heavy D? As a Radio guy since 1979(I am not on locally in Dallas, but host a daily Rock N Roll Music Show carried on 60 stations around the u.S. to more than 100 cities), I’ve had a chance to meet tons of “Celebs”. Heavy D. was one of the nicest, Heavy D gentlest, funniest, happiest brotha’s I’d ever met! Heavy was born Dwight Myers, May 24th 1967 in Mandeville Jamaica, about 65 miles west of Kingston. I can’t wait for our groups trip to Negril, Jamaica in July 2012... It’s like goin down South in the 70’s and 80’s from Chicago...Heavy was a great example of the vibe and the people of Jamaica..His family moved to Mt. Vernon New york in 1967, hence one of his frequent references, “Money Earnin, Mt. Vernon! I met Heavy D. when he was a new hot artist in the 80’s at a Salt N Pepa headlined show somewhere in Louisiana. He was bone tired after setting it off as the opening act, but so cordial and friendly...Most of us real Heavy D fans suffered with him when he lost one of “The Boyz”, dancer Trouble T-Roy, who plunged to his death from a concert venue balcony in 1990...His theme songs for TV shows like In Living Color and Mad TV, still resonate. He became President of Mary J. Bliges, uptown Record label and lost a ton of weight in the ensuing years. Who would have ever thought that the last time we’d see this man was on the BET HIP HoP Awards last month. It was his 1st live perform-

ance in 15 years and he rocked tha house! R.I.P. Heavy D! Gone to soon...Gone to soon...Well, we all knew that Dr. Conrad Murray would be found guilty. The sentencing for his involuntary manslaughter conviction will be November 29th. He’’ll most certainly lose his medical license and face 4 years of jail time. The jails are so crowed in LA that he’ll only serve a fraction of that time..Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 30 days last week and served about 6 hours, due to overcrowding...The math says that Dr. Murray would serve about about 370 of a 1460 day maximum sentence. Meanwhile Smokin Joe Frazier died of Cancer this week. The Ali/Frazier battles are 3 of boxings all time greatest wars...Remember 15 round fights, back in the day??? Many did not know that Frazier backed Ali when he was stripped of his title for not going to Vietnam. Frazier talked Ali’s situation up to President Nixon and even help Ali stage press events to keep himself in the public eye and earn a living, as he was banned from boxing. It was hurtful to Joe that Ali later called him a gorilla and other things, even it was to promo and hype there fights! Rest in Peace Smokin Joe Frazier, well done! This weekend the Cowboys host the Buffalo Bills, a surprising 5-3 so far this season. As of press time, the game was Joe Fraizer sched. for Noon Sunday in “Jerry World” Arlington. Will there be an NBA season...Not if the greedy owners, yES oWNERS keep trying to stiff the players. Mark Cuban, excused from the previous comment! Happy Birthday to you and Celebs this week: Billy Graham is 93, Lou “The Hulk” Ferrigno is 60, Sinbad is 56, Demi Moore 49, Sammy Sosa 43, Sisqo 33 and omarion is 26! ichael Jackson’s personal physician has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for causing the pop icon’s 2009 death by a powerful surgical anesthetic. The verdict against Dr. Conrad Murray comes after a jury of seven men and five women deliberated for about nine hours over two days. The 58-year-old cardiologist, who was charged with the lowest possible homicide offense, faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison and a minimum sentence of probation. Murray now also faces the probable loss of his medical license. California authorities already suspended his right to practice, but medical boards in Nevada and Texas agreed to wait to evaluate licenses he holds in their states until after the criminal case. "I'm shaking uncontrollably!" Michael Jackson's sister LaToya commented via Twitter on the pending verdict. Jackson family members arrived at the courthouse after court officials said a verdict had been reached. outside the courthouse, supporters and fans of Michael Jackson seemed to get word that the jury had reached a verdict. They started cheering and started chanting, "Guilty! Guilty!" The seven men and five women who hold

the fate of Murray in their hands are a diverse cross-section of Los Angeles, people of varying ethnicities from different towns who might never have met if they had not been thrown together in the jury pool. They are white, black and Hispanic, mostly middle-aged and live in an assortment of suburbs in the Los Angeles urban sprawl. Most have children and some have grandchildren. Murray has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter after prosecutors accused him of administering a fatal dose of propofol to the King of Pop.
