CELEBRATING 52 YEARS OF SERVING THE CHURCH AND COMMUNITY FOUNDING THOUGHTS

By William “Bill Blair Elite News Founder

Can we believe Romney? Mitt Romney and the future Queen of England both exposed themselves in recent days. The future Queen was seen walking around without any clothing on the top of her body. The man who wants to be President exposed himself by telling a group of supporters at a private dinner that nearly half of the people in the United States were worthless and were dependent on the government for their support. Let’s leave the future Queen alone and concentrate for a moment on the man who would become, if elected, the nation’s first acknowledged Mormon president. Most people of that faith who I know tend to be

very smart. Unfortunately for Romney, he does not appear to be like the people I know. He does not appear to be very smart. In fact, during his talk held at a dinner in California, Romney even criticized wealthy individuals who receive tax breaks from the government. Does Romney realize what comes from his mouth sometimes? I think not. Remember when he spoke at the Republican Convention and he neglected to make mention of those men and women who risk their lives daily on overseas battle fields for people like Romney and people like you and I. The reality is that former Governor Romney is not prepared to be president of the United States of America. He may be capable of running a business, but not the world’s greatest Democracy. Governor Romney, take your seat. The Oval office is not your fishing ground.

What is your attitude in prayer? Or should we ask ourselves, what are we thinking when we pray? We will find an attitude check-up recorded in Luke 18:9-14. Verse 9 suggests that certain people pray within themselves, having a self-righteous attitude. Jesus tells of two men at the prayer meeting; a religious man and a not so religious man. The religious man told God about all the good things he is doing. He even told God he is better than everybody else. The not so religious man said “God is so good, I am not worthy to even look up, but God have mercy on me a sinner. When God inspected their prayer attitude, the religious man failed the inspection, but the not-so religious man passed the inspection as grand mama would say, “with flying colors.

Paul Sadler is best for Texas By T. L. Wyatt Special to the TPA

The Texas Publishers Association (The Black Press of Texas) believes that Paul Sadler (D), is best qualified to be our next U. S. Senator. Sadler is the Democratic nominee who has served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1991 – 2003. He left the position to care for his son who had been hurt in a serious auto accident. He is the only candidate in the race who has had previous legislative experience. As a result, he can hit the ground running. Sadler supports the Dream Act, would fight to save Medicare, would supports the President’s plan to have a fair tax system designed to make sure that huge corporations and the super wealthy pay their fair share. He is in favor of continuing health care reform while making changes, improvements and corrections. Sadler, a Henderson, Texas resident, is making a special effort to reach out to the traditional voters of the Democratic Party as well as Independents. He knows that this is the only way to win over the heavily funded Republican candidate in the race. While serving in the Texas House of Representatives, Sadler received numerous awards for his legislative work. A decade ago, Sadler was a force in Texas politics. September 21, 2012

As the chair of the House Public Education Committee, he had tried to fix school finance when it was only a crisis and not a disaster. He stepped down in 2002, and has since practiced law and kept a low profile. Now he's back, running for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by retiring Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison. Sadler offers the best chance of having an effective U. S. Senator in Washington who can help eliminate the gridlock in Washington. With very little help from the Texas Democratic Party and the National Democratic Committee, Sadler knows that this race will be an uphill fight. But, he believes that it is one worth fighting. The Texas Publishers Association (TPA) believes that Paul Sadler will be an effective representative for Texas in Washington. www.dfwelitenews.com

Toliver’s Talents

By Mark A. Toliver II Elite News Staffwriter

There was once a player on a professional football team. This player was a late draft choice, and this player had a outside chance of making the final roster for the season. The problem with this young rookie was the fact that he was inconsistent. Sometimes the player would play great, and sometimes he would play terrible. Because of his inconsistent practice this young man was given the nick-name "Rainbow". The coaches named him "Rainbow" because one coach said," he's like a rainbow, he don't come out often, but when he does, he sure is something to see"!!!This is how the Cowboys are playing so far this season. In week 1 against the NY Giants, the Cowboys were hitting on all cylinders, the rainbow was shinning bright. In week 1 QB Tony Romo was on top of his game, showing his game throwing the ball while in the pocket or outside of it. Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, and Kevin Ogeltree looked like they were ready to run past the NFL secondary. the Defense was stellar and played the way

an NFL team is suppose to play. But that was week 1 and the "Rainbow" came out. But week 2 in Seattle, was a gloomy day for our beloved Cowboys. The Cowboys gave up 10 points early because of special teams miscues, and the cowboys could never get back in the game. The Seahawks defeated the Cowboys 27-7 improving their record to 1-1while the Cowboys drop to 1-1.Tony Romo only managed to pass for 251 yards ,but was constantly scrambling around the backfield. Romo finished the night completing just over 57 percent of his passes going 23 of 40 for 251 - yards and one touchdown with one interception. Tony Romo. Is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL to use the spin move to get away from defenders. Romo used the spin move four times in this game and he made defenders miss every time.DeMarco Murray only gained 44 yards on 12 carries. his average was cut in half from a week ago as he only averaged 3.6 yards per carry. Murray never got on track because he was constantly getting hit near or at the line of scrimmage. Murray added another 4 receptions for 31 yards, but he was never really effective throughout the game.Miles Austin led all receivers in receptions and yards. Austin caught 5 passes for 63 yards and the only touchdown of the game. Austin was the most reliable receiver on the field. Demarcus Ware was limited against the Seahawks quick passing game. Ware finished the game without a sack,Ware

The Seahawks doubled teamed Ware throughout the game and he was never able to be a disruptive force.Brandon Carr broke up a couple passes, And did not give up a big play. Carr broke up the only deep pass attempt on his side. Teams continue to attack Carr's side but teams are not having much success. Carr continues to show his acquisition is one of the best of the offseason. Rookie Morris Claiborne had a solid game and only gave up two short catches to his side. Claiborne finished the game with one pass defended and two tackles. The Cowboys played a good game, but the Seahawks played a great game. Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch was dominant on the ground against the Cowboys, rushing for 122 yards on 26 carries with one touchdown.Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson was efficient in his second-career start, completing 15-of-20 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown. It's only the second game of the season, it's not time to jump off the Cowboy band wagon just yet,The Boys are going to win some and they are going to lose some. God Notices What Others Overlook

By Geraldine Davidson- Hooker

We have read how each person is a part of the body of Christ. Just like the organs of our body, though all have different functions, they make up one whole b o d y. N o o n e i s l e s s important than the other. Each has a function in the church. Sometimes though, we go through times of feeling unappreciated for what we are doing for the Lord. There may be times when we feel that we aren’t accomplishing as much as we would like, at the level we would like to be at, and we feel that we go unnoticed. These times can cause us much frustration and

dismay. It’s hard sometimes when we see an area where we could be used, but fail to be used there. It’s hard to get others interested in what we can do, for not everyone shares our enthusiasm. How do we handle times like these? I know from personal experience, that I don’t handle it as well as what I should. But we need to remind ourselves of the fact that God has planted within us this desire to be used, and He has called us and desires to use us in His kingdom. It may not be our time yet. It just might be a time where God is working in us helping us to develop more of a Christ-like character. I know it’s hard to be in this place. But don’t be dismayed. God notices you, and will cause others to as well, in His time. What God has birthed in you, He will bring it to pass – one day! “ Wo r k w i l l i n g l y a t whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossian’s 3:23-24 NLT

CELEBRATING 52 YEARS OF SERVING THE COMMUNITY

10The

thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

This last Memorial Day weekend, the weekend every year where we remember those who have gone on before us and especially those who were killed while fighting to protect our freedoms. Many of you put flowers on your loved ones graves during that time, and reminisced a little about what life was like when they were alive. Cemetery’s like yours are very interesting, some of the graves back in this old section behind the church date back to the time of the Civil War, which took place in the 1860’s. I’ve got a friend who really enjoys walking around in old cemeteries and looking at the tombstones. Sometimes you can find out a lot about a person from their tombstone. Last summer when we took a group to Eastern Kentucky, we got up early one morning and walked around a large cemetery at the top of the mountain. Several of the gravesites were decorated lavishly with lights, flowers, pictures and all

What Is In The Dash?

kinds of little trinkets. It was obvious to us that some of the men who were buried there were NASCAR fans, while others enjoyed hunting or fishing. Looking at old tombstones, can at times give you a glimpse of what that person was like when they were alive, but when it comes right down to it each person’s life is encompassed in two dates and a dash, the day they were born, the day they died and the dash that separates those two dates. When you think about it, we do not have control over many things in life. We do not get to decide who our parents are, when we were born, what time period we are going to live, or the culture we are going to face. We do not get to decide the dates on our tombstones. We do not know when our time on this earth will be up. It could today, it could be next week or next year or for many of you reading this message it could be decades away. Only God knows. Our lives are in His hands. But there is one thing we have complete control over, and that’s how we are going to live our lives. In other words how we are going to use our dash.

That is what I want to talk to you about today. This morning we honored our High School Graduates, who have come to one of those important milestones in their lives. Young people I want you to pay careful attention to this message today because if you will live your lives the principles I am going to share with you today; I assure you that you won’t regret it. I want to ask you a question this week. If you knew you had one month to live, would you live your life differently than you are living it right now? During the next few weeks I am going to be writing about series of messages based on that idea. In this series of sermons I want to challenge each one of you to live life as though you only had one month to live. I want to challenge you to live the next 30 days as if they were your last not because you are going to die in a month, Lord willing you are going to live many, many more months and years. The point is if you live the next 30 days as if they were your last then you will know how to really live! Over the next several weeks together we will discover four universal principles that will transform the question, “What would you do if you had one month to live,” into an amazing lifestyle of meaning and purpose? These four universal principles can be seen in the life of Christ. Jesus is our Lord and Master and as His

Disciples we are to do our best to become more like Him. It does not happen overnight, but instead is a lifelong commitment. Now with that in mind, I want to remind you of something. On several different occasions in the Scripture Jesus tried to prepare His Disciples for His impending death. Unlike us, Jesus knew when He would die. He knew the day and the hour they would nail him to the cross of Calvary. He knew because that is why he came into the world. Amen! So if Jesus knew when He was going to die, it would stand to reason that during that last month or so He would have focused his attention and efforts on the people and the things that meant the most to Him. From a careful examination of His life we will discover four universal principles that will enable us to really live our dash instead of just wandering through life aimlessly. He lived passionately, He loved completely, He learned humbly and He left boldly. This morning we will examine the first two of these principles. Look at what Jesus said in John 10:10. “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” Amen!
