Susan Rice for Secretary of State

By William “Bill Blair Elite News Founder
Preach On Reverend CT I have known preachers in this town for decades. It was in the l960s when I approached the late Reverend S. M. Wright and informed him that I would like to align my newspaper fully with the clergy community. It was one of the greatest moments in the life of the Elite News. Our faith institutions found a newspaper that they could rely upon and our newspaper found numerous church homes. Together we have helped to change Dallas. Over the years I have witnessed numerous preachers come and go in our community. Many of them have had a phenomenal impact as agents of change and proclaimers of the word. At the helm of our churches have been our clergy. A great church has a greater pastor. Now, one of finest young men in our community, Reverend CT( Toney, raised( in M"7/(D(( a family of clergy, has answered his call to ministry. He has launched New Leaf Family Church in Pleasant Grove. Just last Sunday 65 new members joined the church. It is my belief that the church, under the leadership of Pastor Toney will become one of the most significant in the life of Dallas. This young man has spent the last four years in seminary and he has spent most of his adult life serving other ministries, many built by members of his family of ministers. It is evident to all who know him that Pastor Toney, who is also a successful business owner, is committed to more than making money. It appears that his life is committed to changing lives for the better. Pastor Toney has been for years a person who others could turn to during their times of need and exhaustion. He knows how to listen and he is not critical of others. It is my hope that he will ignore the messages of hate that will certainly come his way now that he was answered his call. I believe that he will be as hopeful in ministry as he has been in business. The church community needs more ministers such as Pastor Toney. Certainly, the angels are rejoicing.

The Golden Years (
By Geraldine DavidsonHooker Old age is one of the most rewarding periods of life. Thanks to God at Thanksgiving Psalm 100:1-5, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” Last week we celebrated Thanksgiving and the Holy Spirit is guiding us through the Word of God to direct our thoughts, spiritual hearts and lives toward Biblical expressions of thanksgiving to the Lord. Because of the strength of the flesh
and the powerful draw of the world, Christians are wearied by thoughts of preparing food, travel, eating, entertaining, and talking with families, watching football with friends and many other things. Honestly, for many, Thanksgiving is opening day for depression and for most it is opening season of an unfulfilled life. Amen! I would propose to you that the Lord in His great wisdom and love has prepared the Sunday before Thanksgiving to be an opportunity for us to offer Biblical expressions of thanksgiving unto Him! Considering how the people of God are a temple of the Holy Spirit of Christ, they have every opportunity to abound in singing, praying, giving and sharing testimony of God’s faithfulness in Christ Jesus. A life that expresses these four truths is like incense in the temple, fragrances that are pleasing to God and to the Body
of Christ. Sacrifices ended when Christ died upon the Cross; however, gratitude for the Lord’s sacrifice should not. It is His mercy and grace that enables us to enter into His Throne room and it is because of the shed blood of Christ we are able to enjoy God as “Abba,” our loving Father. Just how can we live out these four truths of Biblical expression in our endeavor to please the Lord? The first truth to enjoy in thanksgiving worship is Holy Spirit illumination of singing to the Lord. Psalm 147:7 says, “Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.” David, a man after God’s heart wrote, “I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. The Holy Spirit moved through David, the great song writer, to set the heartbeat of our worship. Psalm 7:17 says, “I will give thanks to the Lord because of His
5
By Henry Nelson righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.” Amen! Singing about and to the Lord is not just an Old Testament commandment, but a New Testament exhortation. Romans 15:9-11 says, "’Therefore, I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name.’" Again, it says, ‘Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.’ And again, ‘Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to Him, all you peoples." Ephesians 5:19 – 20 says, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Amen! If you would like to receive the entire message please request it at:revelations_75044@ msn.com

Elite News Metro and East Texas Report No new donations being taken for Moore reward account By BRAD KELLAR Herald-Banner Staff
— The money donated so far to a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Alicia Chanta Moore of Greenville will still be used for that purpose. However the person who created the fund said he will no longer be taking donations toward the fund.”I think I’ll just leave it at the $25,000 I have right now,” said Mark Cobb with the Kids R Kids Learning Center in McKinney. Moore’s family asked Monday that the fund be discontinued for personal reasons. Cobb said the money is still there for whomever comes forward with the information, as he intended the reward to help wiith the criminal investigation into the case. “I think it will still help them,” Cobb said. “My goal is to help find whoever did this thing.”A separate account, established to assist Moore’s family, will be closed, as the request of Jessica Nicole Byrd, Moore’s aunt, who works at the day care center.”She wants me to close that,” Cobb said, adding that the money will be distributed to the family. “As soon as the funds clear. I had a nice $5,000 donation I got in the mail today.” Elite News Metro Highlights

Today, the White House released a report on the impact on consumer spending and retailers of the impending middle class tax hikes. As the White House report illustrates, our economy can’t afford middle class tax hikes. By extending these tax cuts, the typical middle class family will maintain a tax break of $2,200 next year. For the good of our country and our economy, we must work together to quickly extend tax cuts for 98 percent of all Americans. If Congress fails to act, middle class families will see their income taxes go up in 2013. It is essential that we work together to provide certainty and peace of mind to families, retailers, and small businesses during this holiday season. Democratic Members of Congress have proposed the extension of all the middle class tax cuts, and the Senate has passed middle class tax cut legislation. It is now time for the House Republican Leadership to take up this proposal and provide some economic certainty to the

Keeping Promises Sacred At seven years of age many young girls decide the shapes and sizes of doll babies they want to play with. Not Chandra Jennings. When she reached that age she decided that she wanted to be passionately involved in the funeral business, helping families cope with death, preparing loved ones for final viewings. At the church where her father, C.H. Gerald, was pastor, Chandra had a disabled friend who lived a very brief life. At the funeral, Chandra peered into the casket at her friend after pleading with her father to take her. “At the very moment that I looked at her,” she said, “I knew that life’s journey would take me to a place where I had to console families and prepare them for releasing their loved ones,” said Chandra who owns the Sacred Funeral Home in the Glendale Heights section of South Dallas. “Death is not something that frightens me,” she said. “It is beautiful
if one dies belonging to Christ.” Chandra and her husband, Reverend Dedrick Jennings, met while both were employed at the Cedar Crest Funeral Home. He was working as an embalmer while she worked in administration. After marrying they decided to pursue their own business. “We are a full-service business that practices excellence, and we are fully committed to the community,” she said. “This Christmas we plan to bless the community by working with the First Saturday Pantry, a neighborhood organization to brighten the lives of the less fortunate by providing children with Christmas gifts. We are soliciting businesses and individuals who want to assist us in this effort,” she said. No stranger to assisting families, Chandra coordinated the funeral services for her father when he passed in 1998. Her husband prepared his body for the final viewing and the two of them

helped to comfort family members. “We want people to see our professional services and we also want them to see that Christ is present in our lives,” said Dedrick Jennings who, like his wife, was graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Services. Our firm’s motto is ‘where platinum services are rendered,’ he added. “I believe that God prepares you for what you will face in life,” said Chandra Jennings. “I have always been affected by disabled people, and we have a disabled daughter. Their daughter Latanya, 28, has limited speech and has experienced thirty-seven major surgeries. “It is a blessing to care for her and to love her,” said Chandra. “The doctors told us that she would not live to see four years of age. But she is still with us.” In addition to Latanya, the Jennings have three other children. Andrea is preparing to become a licensed funeral

The Heisman 2012 I can remember when I was young watching Ohio State’s running back Archie Griffin. The Ohio State running back won the Heisman Trophy 2 years in a row. Now let’s keep in mind that this was back in the 70’s and winning the Heisman was hard enough to win once let alone win it twice. But Griffin was a special player, and he put on a show every time he took the field. There was a lot of conversation about if it was fair for him to win the award twice. But needless to say Archie put all doubters to rest and won back to back Heisman Trophies. This year there is a lot of conversation about the Heisman. The biggest question is can a freshman win the award. Micheal Vick was a finalist when he was a freshman at Virginia Tech. and Adrian Peterson was a finalist when

I spoke with a few kids in an effort to find out what makes them remain active and interested in their particular activity? I got some good answers, but this one young man really stood out! “Participating in sports affects my life because I know that one day football will change my life!
