Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO It was a thrill to drive the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco especially when you consider we went the entire week using around eight gallons of gasoline. Right off the bat let me tell you the new 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco gets 29 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. Yes this 2.4 Liter DOHC four-cylinder with Eassist cranks out 182 horses at 6200 RPM and 172 lbs per foot of torque at 4900. But the Malibu brings back memories for me because my brother Charlie had one back in 1972. If you recall, Chevy made a wonderful Mint Gold colored Malibu with a black half vinyl roof. You talk about style and it turned some heads to say the least. Funny how time flies when you’re having fun; before I knew it they were coming back to get the car. But it was wonderful just thinking about the time gone by and still this new Malibu is so far advanced than the old one.

eight-year/100,000 mile limited E-assist component warranty. Keep in mind this is all part of the new stimulus package from President Barack Obama. It shows GM Chevrolet motor division is putting those dollars to good use. The Malibu is home grown with the final assembly point Kansas City, Kansas. Both the engine and transmission are built right here in the United States of America. Some of the features on the new Malibu include daytime running lights and front fog lights along with 17-inch aluminum wheels. The mirrors are heated and power adjustable and are matching body color. The automatic transmission is

six-speed and the electric motor generator helps make this eco system become one of the best in the world. Let us remember the new Malibu Eco also has stability control with traction control, anti-lock brake system. It’s also equipped with four-wheel disc anti-locking brakes.

Inside the new Malibu you are treated to an easy to read dash layout along with front bucket seats with eight-way power adjustments with recline and lumbar as well. Front passenger seat adjuster with 4-way manual and two-way vertical. The Malibu even has remote start and automatic dimming inside rearview mirror. When it comes to sounds the Malibu is equipped with a Pioneer Premium 9-speaker 250 watt amplifier complete with steering wheel controls. In closing allow me to add the new Malibu we tested came in at just over $29,000. Not bad at all the memories alone are worth that!

VOLVO XC60-T6 AWD PLATINUM VERY WELL BUILT By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Dallas, Texas-Making a trip to Big D on business the other week, the Volvo XC 60 turbo AWD special Purpose vehicle certainly came in handy. We are talking about a vehicle that’s built as solid as a tank, yet rides as smooth as a jet. With a gross weight of just over 5,300 pounds, this solid mid-size has a smooth overall ride and the feeling of safety is enormous when you are behind the wheel of this well-built automobile. The

NHTSA rated the Volvo XC 60 at five stars for overall vehicle score with five stars for frontal crashes both driver and front passenger, side crashes both front and rear and a four star rating for roll over. All of these numbers are clearly best in class. Under the hood is a proven 3.0 Liter turbo charged six-cylinder alloy engine with DOHC continuous variable valve timing, twin scroll turbo producing 325 horses at 5400 RPM and cranking out 354 lbs. per foot of torque at 3000 RPM. Yet it still manages

to qualify for ULEV II (Ultra Low Emission Vehicle). Other features includes All Wheel drive with instant traction all working with a six-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift logic, plus dynamic stability traction control. Front independent strut suspension with anti-dive geometry and fully independent rear multi-link suspension. In laymen terms this baby has virtually no nose dive when making hard stops. It has roll stability control; power assisted rack and pinion steering and ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock braking system and ready alert brakes.

All this rolls to the pavement on 20-inch five-spoke wheel wrapped with all season tires on an R design sport chassis. You might say Volvo thought of just about everything while researching and developing this product.

Warranties for the new Volvo XC 60T is 48-month/50,000 mile limited warranty coverage and 144 month corrosion protection unlimited mileage. Be sure and ask you retailer about their extended service contract. The major source of content for the new Volvo is 25% from Belgium with 20% from Germany with the final assembly point in Ghent, Belgium. The engine is built in Great Britain and the transmission in Japan. With a massive aggressive look the new Volvo has chrome plated skid plate and dual tail pipes. There are color matched lower body molding-matte finish silk metal grille with R design logo along with R-design leather seating surfaces with accent inserts. To set it all off there are leather perforated sport steering wheel and gearshift knob.

Loaded with all this muscle car features the Volvo XC 60 still manages to have many of the same luxury features as others in its class. There is a Volvo sensus with integrated seven-inch color LCD monitor laminated panoramic roof with power sunshade. Sounds comes from a high performance audio system 4 X 40 watt amplifier with eight-speakers and in-dash single CD with WMA and MP3 capability complete with HD radio/USB and AUX inputs. Sirius satellite radio with six-month complimentary subscription rounds out the many features on this model. Let us not forget more than $8,000 worth of options moves the price of our test vehicle to over $52,000. But if we had to say, I’d say yes it worth it and then some after our trip to Big D.

A KING-SIZE MOVER AND SHAKER: BRANDEE PRICE By Dr. Victor Keys A King-Size View We are proud to announce that our KI G-SIZE Mover and Shaker for the month of April is Brandee Price. I first met Brandee while I was assigned to Booker T. Washington HS/HSEP. Over the course of four years, I would see Brandee in the hallways and in class. She was always kind, polite, and warmhearted. She also greeted everyone with a smile. After her graduation from Booker T. Washington HS/HSEP, Brandee selected Prairie View A&M (PVAM) as her college of choice. She told me that she was majoring in Communications and hopes to have a career in television. At PV Brandee became a skilled and motivated

college student. During her college days, she became a Teacher Intern at B.C. Elmore Middle School and taught the Fundamentals of Modern Dance after-school. Brandee was also involved in the Student Government Association (SGA), the Campus Activity Board, and the Student Volunteer Board. As she talked about her college days at PV, I asked her what were her best memories of attending PVAM and without any hesitation; she said “being a member of the Marching Storm Black Foxes Majorette Dance Team was a dream come true for me”. She stated that “I first saw them when I was very young and I said to myself one day I am going to be a member of that dance team”. “So I worked

extremely hard in school and improved my dancing skills. After the auditions and they announced the new members, when I heard my name being called, I shouted, yelled, and called my mother and Ms. B. Hicks they were so proud of me”. I had always loved to dance and to become a member of the Black Foxes Dance Team was one of the greatest moments in my life. As a dancer, Brandee has won many awards over the years but she said, “winning the Bronze Medal at the 2007 NAACP Houston ACT-SO Program and being a Member and Dance Soloist for the Exclamation Dance Company, helped prepare me for life time of dancing, performing, and mentoring”.

See www.youtube.com/user/KAPKingArthur for videos from February’s 2012 Fiesta Black History Celebration

When asked about her plans after graduating from PV, Brandee stated that “she was selected for an Internship with Channel 11 in Houston and will

start this summer”. We are truly proud of Brandee and we wish her the very best in the future.

VIVA LAS VEGAS I have not been to Vegas in over five years. Many I spoke to told me that the city was changed and no longer a place that the “Low Roller” could enjoy. Last month I had a chance to go there and prove that this is totally untrue. First of all, budget air fares are still available. There are a number of airlines that fly to Las Vegas from Houston and a little careful shopping will get you a

very good fare. I was able to make the trip for less than $300 by buying my ticket in advance. Hotels can still be a bargain. I booked my room through an internet booking engine that specializes in discounting rooms. I was able to get a very nice room at Hooters Casino and Hotel with a balcony view of the Strip for $300 for seven nights. Be careful, however, because many hotels charge a ‘Resort Fee” of

Eating in Vegas can be as expensive or as reasonable as you want. We found several buffets that offered prime rib for only $9.99. Most often these are downtown or in off strip hotels. Surprisingly, a couple of these were very good. The food was well prepared and the variety was exceptional. There is also a lot of interesting specialty items available. One small casino on Freemont Street downtown offers Nathan’s Hot Dogs, deep fried Twinkies and deep fried Oreos for only one dollar each. On the other end, Las Vegas has become a haven for some of the greatest chefs in our country to display their talents in five star eateries. While on the subject of food, even if you don’t dine there, it is worth the trip to see the Heart Attack Grill. The sign outside states: “Over 350 Pounds Eats Free.” With an ambulance near the front door and menu items such as a two pound “Quadruple Bypass Burger” this may be the strangest restaurant on the planet. Truly a downtown Las Vegas attraction! Getting around has changed also. At any given time, it is estimated that there are 10,000 rental cars running round the city. I think most of them were in front of me on any given evening. Other options include the monorail that runs from the MGM Grand on the South Strip almost to the Stratosphere on the North Strip. Soon this efficient train will run from the airport to downtown. Also new to Las Vegas is The Duce, a double decker bus that runs from the far south end of the strip to north of downtown. An all-day pass is just $7.00 Gaming has changed a lot over the years. The traditional games and tables are still there but the slots are very different. Some of the machines have play options that boggle the mind. The trend

in slots is the penny machines. Although you can spin the reels with only a one cent bet, these machines want you to bet from 20 to 50 lines for maximum return. You can also bet from one to ten cents per line. You have to bet what you feel and the payoffs can vary. I actually won $108.00 on a twenty cent bet. There are also low end tables at the downtown and off strip casinos that will allow you to play for as low as a $2.00 bet of roulette. There are some interesting variations on some old games. I was able to play a version of craps that was totally electronic. With 12 stations, we each sat at a position and made our bets. The roll progressed around the table like in a real game. The computer then rolled a pair of huge dice in the center of the game and paid the bets accordingly. It had a very consistent pace and was in many ways both different and the same as the original four dealer game. There is also an automated video version of blackjack that uses a computer image dealer. The six player game has the same action and excitement as the table game. We have all seen the “Fabulous Las Vegas” sign in movies and on television. Designed in the 1950’s the sign was intentionally not copyrighted. That way when someone used the sign it would remind them of the original. Here locally, a Mexican chain of restaurants uses a version of the sign as their own. I cannot pass a location without thinking of the city and the memories I have there. The original sign is still on the south end of the strip. It was placed there to welcome visitors coming from California to the town. Recently, a paved parking lot was added to give visitors a place to park and take pictures. Often you will find an Elvis impersonator or other “celebrity” there available to pose with you for a tip. If you get tired of gambling there are many things to do that will keep you occupied. One off the beaten path attraction is the Neon Bone Yard. Located just

Page 6

north of downtown, this is a city owned yard filled with the neon signs from casinos and other businesses that are no longer a part of the Las Vegas Culture. Visitation is a guided tour, available once a day. You must make an on line reservation in advance and pay before you go. Eventually, this will become a full-fledged museum but it is currently a great walk down memory lane for those of us that have been coming to Las Vegas for years. In addition to the signs in the museum, there are several fully restored signs on Las Vegas Boulevard and on Freemont Street that the museum has provided for us to enjoy. One of my favorites is the lamp form the Aladdin hotel that was restored to its original condition and is in the center of Freemont for all to enjoy. This 1966 lamp is reminiscent of “Old Las Vegas.” Speaking of Freemont Street, this is possibly the greatest free attraction in the world. Every night the cover is illumined with 12.5 million LED lights accompanied by a 550,000 watt sound system giving hourly shows such as a tribute to Bon Jovi, KISS and The Doors. The casino lights are shut down and for fifteen minutes you are mesmerized by the lights and music. While on Freemont, you will witness the antics of street performers imitating figures for life and movies. In addition to the required Elvis (both Young Elvis and Fat Elvis) I met Storm Troopers, Michael Jackson, a bronze cowboy, Dolly Parton, a Transformer and many others. For a small tip, they will pose for a photo and give a great show. There are many things to do that are outside the city also. One dream of mine was to ride a motorcycle through the “Valley of Fire” State Park. This park is about 60 miles north of the city. It is made of rock formations that are unique to the area. If you are there when the sun rises the reflection of the sunrise causes the orange rocks to glow as if they are on fire. I was able to rent a motorcycle at Eagle Rider and make this trip. It was a cool ride at 4:00 AM when I left the hotel abut sitting in the park watching the sun illuminate the rocks made the trip worthwhile. From there I rode to Lake Meade and across some of the most interesting roads I have ever put behind me on two wheels. It was not a cheap experience, but a once in a lifetime ride that I will never forget.

VIVA LAS VEGAS - CONTINUED FROM PAGE 6 Lake Meade is a man-made lake created by the construction of the Hoover Dam. The Dam was constructed in the 1930’s as a Work Project Administration project; it provides power and water to 13 states and made the rich agriculture of California possible. It is also the reason Las Vegas is in existence today. Tours of the Dam are $7.00 and you are able to go to the bottom of the structure by elevator and view the generators and much more. There is also a visitor center, museum and much more to do while there. After the tragedy of September 11, 2001, commercial vehicle traffic on the dam was halted. A

spectacular four-lane highway bridge arching across the Colorado River opened in late 2010 and carries traffic between Nevada and Arizona. The older two-lane highway across the dam could no longer handle the 14,000 vehicles that travel here each day. Construction on the 1,900-foot-long structure, named the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, began in 2005. An impressive feat of engineering, the supporting twin-rib arch span echoes the elegant curves of the dam itself. Mike O’Callaghan was Governor of Nevada from 1971 until 1979 and Pat Tillman was a football great that played for the

Page 7

Arizona Cardinals. Tillman left football to join the United States Army after the September 11 attacks and was later killed in action in Afghanistan. He turned down a nine million dollar offer form the St. Louis Rams to remain with Arizona and later died an American Hero. Las Vegas is still a very interesting and exciting place to visit. It can be done on a limited budget or as a high roller. There are almost an unlimited number of sights to see and things to do. If you are interested in a get-away that will leave a lasting impression, consider a trip to Nevada. A walk down Las Vegas Boulevard alone to see the sights is well worth the trip.

In The Love Corner By Stevie T

LOVE WEATHER CHANGES Hey Lovers, hope things have been great with your partners since we last talked. You know just like the weather, things can change at any minute and sometimes be destructive. When we listen to the weatherman’s forecast we get an idea on what might happen the next couple of days, but on the other hand weather can be unpredictable...confusing huh! Almost like some women (I did say that, if the shoe fits wear it). Sometimes in our love lives we become predictable. Is that good or bad? It doesn’t hurt to know your partner, but if we get to the point where we never add anything extra and are afraid to try something new, you might be in for some rocky weather ahead. Have you ever been with your mate, one minute everything is alright, and in the blink of an eye everything is in complete chaos? If you have the perfect love, then you don’t know what I’m talking about. I didn’t say perfect storm. Let me see the

hands of those with a perfect love...hmm that’s what I thought. Even though we might have a decent love life, like the weather it could become stormy at anytime. How you are able to the handle the situation, whether through material things (gifts), through touch (love-making), or talking (torture), just kidding, and everything comes out alright and it normally does, then as the church folk say, “you have weathered the storm”. Everybody deals with their problems differently; the thing is to deal with it don’t let it deal you, try and take the stress out of our love lives. Sometimes you will have to take one for the team. The team is you and your partner and there is no “I” in team. If one person chooses to be the less mature in the situation the other person has to realize that and do what takes for you both to be okay. A relationship should be 50/50 but we know that’s never the case. Then again, never say never! If

you have the perfect love life I’d like to hear from you one Wednesday night inside ‘The Love Corner’. It happens at 8pm on KCOH AM 1430 with my co-host EZ and a special guest, and I’ve had some good ones like Shirley Taylor Crews, a life coach, Beloved Tonyai, actress and spiritual counselor, Andrea Porter, author, and Cookie Little of Flat City Records, just to name a few. If you’d like to be the female co-host on ‘The Love Corner’, call me during 7 to midnight Monday - Friday at 713 526 1430, or leave a post on my Facebook page, at Stevie Goodtime T. If you are having problems with your love life give us a call on Wednesday nights during In The Love Corner. The top love songs for the month are 1) Just the way you are - Barry White 2) You are My Lady-Freddie Jackson 3) Somebody Loves You - Patti Labelle 4) Love Me in a Special Way - El Debarge and 5) Make Me Say it Again - The Isley Brothers. So until next time keep a little love in your heart, the look of love in your eyes, and don’t let a day go by without telling someone that you love them even if that someone is you.

The Way I See It By BIG John Chandler CHANGE ALWAYS HAS A PRICE TAG As I’ve begun to live in my middle age, I’ve noticed that my dear departed mother was right again. She used to tell me that ‘change always has a price tag. Nothing is free’. I have noticed that in so many issues of life as we struggle with our daily lives. Energy, education, our tax rates, justice, peace to say the least. For me, I’ve begun a campaign so many months ago to see a shot clock in high school basketball. So many people oppose it and yet the game is for many hard to watch now. The game is slow and to some extent boring. That’s not basketball that I grew to love as a young man and it’s certainly not the game that so many of you dear readers remember during your young adolescents. Why has the game fallen so badly? It’s not the tremendous athletic abilities of our young men and women. Their skill level is just breathtaking compared to earlier generations. The overall coaching is very good. The equipment has improved. So what’s the problem? Very simple, Sherlock! The game is a crawl pace. It has barley moves and the fact is the coaches have the power to speed up the game but won’t. Wait Big John, didn’t you just state the coaching was good? I stated overall the coaching is good, but there are some coaches that are doing a disservice to the game. A shot clock is needed. No one can look me in the eye and tell me scoring 35 points by one team in an entire game is good for the sport. No one I have met has convinced me of that. During our recent trip to the state tournament in Austin, most fans and coaches I spoke with agreed that a shot clock was needed. Rick Shirley, the executive director of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, stated more people want to see a shot clock for high school basketball but the main

problem with instituting it is money. With the cutbacks in our economy, our school districts are finding it hard to balance their budgets from year to year. Athletics are a very easy target for cuts. That being said the game attendance has fallen drastically for several years. Low scoring games are not the only reason. But improving the product is needed. I also am stating up front that scoring will not necessarily increase because of a shot clock. It didn’t arise roundly in college basketball. What it did do was remove a team’s efforts to stall the game! A 45-second shot clock will force a team to run an offense for the entire game. It will give a team trailing a chance to get back in the game without needing to foul to force a team to the foul line. Some coaches think this will be unfair to their team chances of competing but when is anything fair? This gives everyone a chance to compete. This is going to be long, hard fought fight. Both sides have their arguments and are not going to quit until the final bell rings. Trust me, this is a bitter pill to many people and has been for many years. But time seems to be on the shot clock support’s side which I’m clearly a part of. I don’t want to hear that argument about money when so much of it is wasted on so many junk items. I don’t want to hear how it makes it unfair for some teams or coaches can’t do their job. The game has become boring. It must be upgraded. It should be a fun-loving open floor game that we all enjoyed for so many years. Does change always have a price tag? Time will tell during this saga. That’s just the way I see it!

legendary Soul and Blues star Ernie Johnson. Friends, fans and family all came together as the soul singer thrilled the crowd with a five song salute. Paying tribute to the late great Tyrone Davis, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Johnnie Taylor and Wilson Pickett, Johnson barked and blended his melodious voice much to the delight of the crowd that jammed into the old theater.

Once they got good and warmed up they opened the floor to one of Dallas’ favorite act in Lady Lotion. Calling herself a ‘Dirty Ole Lady’, Lotion got the crowd going and kept it going for quite a while. Singing some lowdown blues with the big band backing her, she really cut loose.

But the night started with the Hot and Steamy Band doing a few numbers as Big Jack Williams stepped to the mike. The band was led by Sam Honey on lead guitar, James Wiley Jr. on drums, Lee Charles

By that time it was show time and Johnson hit the stage rocking the house with their rendition of Tyrone Davis mega hit “Turning Point”. Moving on to Otis Redding “I can’t turn you loose”, followed by Wilson Pickett’s “I found a Love”, then on to “Steal Away” by the big time Dallas Favorite Johnnie Taylor. Fact is Big Jack

Williams on trumpet and Lee Charles Mitchell on sax were on the original recording of this big hit for Johnnie Taylor. He closed the tribute portion out with the late-great Sam Cooke’s “Change Gonna Come”. After working the crowd into a frenzy Johnson then begin singing his very own hits and “Reaching Out” warmed the crowd just as much as his old favorite “Good Thang Man” among others. With the help of E J s Lady Avis and Brittany Yates, Johnson worked his way to the close by performing his standby “Dreams to Remember”. If you want to see Johnson perform simply go to www.kingsizeview.com and click on his photo in the white suit. That’s the video from the 17th Annual Fiesta Free Music

Former television star of ‘Behind The Wheel TV Auto Show’ Jonathan Mark and his fiancée Sandie made the show and they really enjoyed the show very much. They are great ball room dancers so the big band sound hit the spot for them. Mark worked with us on Behind

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

KENDALL DENSON-TSU If there was a bright spot for Texas Southern University spring game it was running back Kendall Denson a redshirt sophomore from Grambling Louisiana. The tough hard running back turned a dump pass from backup quarterback Rudolph Johnson into the offense’s only touchdown in the first half. Breaking tackles in the process, the 5 feet 9 inch 205 pounder also had a score rushing later in the game and showed some good hard running that should go well with new coach

Darrell Asberry’s Magnolia Spread offense. Running back coach Lewis Tillman has a lot of small-size back including former Jack Yates standout Reginald Perry

As of the spring game the Tigers are going to need more of the same from Kendall Denson and as it stands now he will probably get the most carries in the Tigers new offense of 2012. Perry will be a good change up back for the Tigers because of his blazing speed and quickness. The former Fiesta BBMC MVP is in his second season with the Tigers.

WHAT IS TRUTH? OBSERVING EASTER Please Get your Bibles and Follow this Study!

Is the Observance of Easter, by the Church or anyone else, authorized by God through Jesus Christ and his Apostles? We ask this question because, those of us that proclaim to be Christians, have been given a commandment by the words of the apostles of our Lord and Savour Jesus Christ; “1Thes 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” But first, bear with us as we be scripturally reminded of the order of things, if you will, “The Chain of Command” in the belief of GOD. Jesus DEFINES those that are and those that are NOT of God, please read; “John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” God made it clear in His Word, that we MUST hear Jesus Christ His beloved son, and in verse 8, him ONLY; “Matt.17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.” John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. Jesus, the only one that God has commanded us to hear, tells us how we must believe on him; “John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.20 either pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their

word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” We must believe on Christ only in the manner he has stated, through his Apostle’s word, simply because he said so; being the head of every man; “1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

Before Jesus ascended back into heaven, he left instructions with his apostles; “Matt 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” These instructions are for the one church that Jesus is building; “Matt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Upon what rock; Christ for he is the Head of the church? “Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.”(See Eph. 4:1416, 5:23-24) Jesus gave instructions to his Apostles, the ones that God gave

him, on how to run HIS church, as they were guided by The Holy Ghost. No one else was given this authority. Remember he told them in verses 16 thru 18 of Matt. 28th chapter, that

all power had been given him, by his Father in heaven and in earth. Jesus also told them in verses 19&20 to go and teach all nations, and to baptize. He also made it clear by what names baptism was to be done and what things they were to teach to be observed, and those were the things Jesus had commanded them. There were also things that he had yet to tell his apostles, after ascending back into heaven. According to scripture this was to be done by The Holy Ghost “The Comforter”, The Spirit of Truth, please read; “John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” How then MUST we believe and hear Jesus? According to Jesus, it is NOT through some voice that comes to us, but rather through his APOSTLES words as THEY were guided by The Holy Ghost; the things that are WRITTEN. Please read; “John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me

through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.“Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;”. “I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

We MUST remember the Church by Christ (see Eph.3:2021), the one he is building, and is the Head of, has been commanded not to follow traditions and commandments of men (see Matt. 15:8-10; Col.2:8-12; 1823; Titus1:13-14), but to follow the traditions and commandments of the apostles which is found in New Testament scripture (Acts 2:41-42; 1Cor.11:12; Philp.4:9; 2Thes.2:13-15; 3:6). It is true; Jesus and his Apostles did observed the Passover, before his death. Jesus was born under the Law (seeGal.4:4), and so was his Apostles. After his cruel death on the cross; the New Testament, which was in his blood (see1Cor.11:25), and after His resurrection, we find no scriptural evidence of him observing such. Neither do we find any instructions in the apostles’ doctrine and or word, for the Church that Christ is building, (Acts 2:47) to observe such. We believe that we are SAFE and COMPLETE ONLY in Christ Jesus, NOT in Moses, Elias or anyone else, note what the apostle Paul admonished the Church in Colosse to do; “Col 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. 6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in

him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Remember Christ left the apostles and only them instructions, and or commands on the things that ARE to be OBSERVED (see Matt.28:16-20), by the Church that he is the head of ; “Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the (1)preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; Definition: (1)preeminence4409 proteuo (prote-yoo’-o); from 4413; to be first, to hold the first place (in rank or influence): KJV— have the preeminence. We must also remember that Jesus Christ, the only begotten of God was and is perfect, and so is The Holy Spirit.

WHAT IS TRUTH? OBSERVING EASTER They did not forget anything, so that even before the deaths of all the apostles, there were offices put in place for the overseeing of the Church by Christ, the one that he is building (see Matt.16:16-18; Acts20:16-17, 26-31, Philp.1:1; 1Tim.3:1-12; 5:17; Titus1:5-11; Heb.13:1718). They, as well as all those that professes to be Christians, must follow the traditions and commandments of the apostles as they were guided by the Holy Spirit, until The Chief Shepherd shall appear; “1 Pet 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; (1)not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” “2Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:” Definition: (1)not for filthy lucre-147 aischrokerdos (aheeskhrok-er-doce’); adverb from 146; sordidly: KJV— for filthy lucre’s sake, eagerness for base gain; 146 aischrokerdes-eager for base gain, greedy for money I hope we are clear on the order of things (chain of command) according to New Testament scripture. Now let us begin to answer the question; “Is the Observance of Easter, by the Church or anyone else, authorized by God through Jesus Christ and his Apostles?” Let us start with the two origins and there traditions. Now let us by scripture, prove Easter #1. Easter, which means Passover, was given by Moses

from God to be OBSERVED by the children of Israel according to the law. It was never given to the Church by Christ, to be observed by Christians according to the Apostle’s doctrine and or word. Christ is the end of the Law (see John 1:17, Rom. 10:1-5). Notice the difference in the two Easters, the first one we can find scripture for the customs, traditions and sacrifices that was set in place. Again this was given to Moses by God, for the Israelites and for a specific reason. The preparation of the foods that they were to partake of was specified by God through Moses, Please read;

Definition: Easter 3957 pascha (pas’-khah); of Aramaic origin [compare 6453]; the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it): KJV— Easter, Passover. 1) the paschal sacrifice (which was accustomed to be offered for the people’s deliverance of old from Egypt) 2) the paschal lamb, that is, the lamb the Israelites were accustomed to kill and eat on the 14th day of the month of Nisan (the first month of their year) in memory of the day on which their fathers, preparing to depart from Egypt, were bidden by God to slay and eat a lamb, and to sprinkle their door posts with its blood, that the destroying angel, seeing the blood, might pass over their dwellings; the paschal feast, the feast of the Passover, extending from the 14th to the 20th day of the month Nisan. Exod 12:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill

it in the evening. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the (1)purtenance thereof. 10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. 11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. 14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. Definition: (1)purtenance thereof-7130 qereb; midst, among, the inner part, the middle a) the inward part: c) entrails (used of sacrificial animals) Exod 12:47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. The first Easter “Passover” was authorized by God through Moses, to Israel and is of the truth. The instructions of observance and the dates were set, by God, and it was much earlier than A.D. 325. If Christians are under the Old Law “The Law of Moses”, which we are not according to the apostle’s doctrine, then all of the instructions of observance including the SACRIFICES and the dates given, must be followed circum-

spect, to be right “righteous” with God. There were no fables, nor Greek gods or goddesses, in it. We must remember Christians MUST follow Christ through his Apostles, not Moses. Christ is the end of the Law (see John 1:17, Rom. 10:1-5). Now let us by scripture disprove Easter #2.

EASTER “Bill Petro, your friendly neighborhood historian www.billpetro.com/holidayhistory” “The most joyous of Christian festivals, and one of the first celebrated by the Christians, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox. The English word “Easter” corresponding to the German “Oster”, reveals the association of many Easter customs with those of the Teutonic tribes of central Europe. When Christianity reached these people it incorporated many of their heathen rites into the great Christian feast day. Easter month, corresponding to our April, was dedicated to Eostre, or Ostara, goddess of the spring. There was in common the time of spring and the triumph of life over death. The practice of eating eggs on Easter Sunday and giving them as gifts to friends and children probably arose because, in the earlier days of the church, eggs were forbidden food during Lent (the 40 days before Easter) and were therefore always eaten on Easter Sunday. But the custom of coloring eggs goes back to the ancient Egyptians and Persians, who practiced this custom during their spring festival. The Easter hare, or bunny, comes from antiquity as well. The hare is associated with the moon in the legends of ancient Egypt. It belongs to the night when it comes out to feed. It is born with its eyes opened and, like the moon, is “the open-eyed watcher of the skies”. Through the fact that the Egyptian word for hare, “un”, means also “open” and “period”, the hare became associated with the idea of periodicity, both lunar and human, and so became a symbol of fertility and of the renewal of life. As such, the hare became linked with the Easter, or paschal, eggs. In the U.S. the Easter rabbit is fabled to lay

the eggs in the nests prepared for it or to hide them for the children to find.

Although Easter was celebrated very early in the church, its date was not established until A.D. 325 when Constantine convened the council at Nicea, where it was decided that it should be observed on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox, to be fixed each year at Alexandria, then the center of astronomical science. The date is an approximation, and may vary. This means that its date may vary as much as 35 days!” Bill Petro, your friendly neighborhood historian www.billpetro.com/holidayhistory The second Easter has been disproved simply because, not one scripture was given for the instructions and dates of observance. Not one of the traditional observance given, matched any of the ones given by God. It is also stated that “Easter” is a Christian festival, ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE this is ERROR, which is FALSE DOCTRI E! We must remember “Christian” and “Christianity” are not just words, but are lifestyles! Using the apostle’s doctrine as a reference, as the Church of and by Christ has been commanded to do, Christian and Christianity are the two MOST misused words on earth. Christians MUST follow Christ through his Apostle’s word (John17:20-23). The truth is, the only Easter/ Passover authorized by God was given by God through Moses, to the children of Israel “those under the Old Law”. The second one was given to man by man in A.D. 325 MUCH too late to be of God or Christ for that matter, and it has not one custom or tradition given by God, Christ or his Apostles; thereby it is not of the truth. It’s full of customs and traditions of men; men such as “heathens and Greek goddesses”. It also consists of Fables, which are lies; such as egg laying rabbits. Not only does rabbits lay eggs according to the lie that children are told, but they lay hard-boiled, colored ones. This lie is passed on from generation to generation. Children should be taught the truth because the scriptures teach that all liars will have their part, see Rev.21:8.

WHAT IS TRUTH? OBSERVING EASTER We all may fall short and lie at some point in our lives, but to practice, to observe and to look forward to lying, makes us LIARS.

The scriptures teach that Jesus’ resurrection was early on the first day of the week, at the end of the Sabbath, OT on Easter Sunday or Christian Sabbath. “Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.” “Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.” (see Matt.28:1; Luke24:1) Christian Sabbath, according to scripture is a contradiction, in that according to the apostles’ doctrine the disciples, which were later called Christians, came together on the first day of the week, “Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” “Acts 20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to (1)break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”….Definition: (1)break bread 2806 klao-to break used in the New Testament of the breaking of bread (communion). The (1)Sabbath on the other hand, ended the Passover, which was the seventh day of the week; (Definition: (1)Sabbath 4521 sabbaton (sab’-bat-on); of Hebrew origin [7676]; the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); 1) the seventh day of each week which was a sacred festival on which the Israelites were required to abstain from all work a) the institution of the sabbath, the

law for keeping holy every seventh day of the week: KJV— sabbath.) All must believe the truth to be right with God, please read; “II Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had (1)pleasure in (2)unrighteousness.”

Definitions: (1)pleasure-2106 eudokeo (yoo-dok-eh’-o); 1) it seems good to one, is one’s good pleasure a) to think it good, to choose, to determine, to decide b) to do willingly c) to be ready to, to prefer, to choose rather 2) to be well pleased with, to take pleasure in, to be favorably inclined toward one: KJV— think good, (be well) please (-d), be the good (have, take) pleasure, be willing. (2)in unrighteousness-93 adikia (ad-ee-kee’-ah); from 94; (legal) injustice (properly, the quality, by implication, the act); morally, wrongfulness (of character, life or act) 3) a deed violating law and justice, act of unrighteousness: KJV— iniquity, unjust, unrighteousness, wrong. Now let us set by New Testament Scriptures the foundation of belief. But first let us look at the only place the word “Easter” is found in the bible and it’s of Aramaic origin; it was used to define the feast of the Passover. According to Acts 12:1-4, these Jews were not of the body, the Church that Christ was building (Col.1:1820; Matt.16:17-18), because it pleased them that king Herod stretched forth his hand to vex certain of the Church. The scriptures then go on to name those of the Church that King Herod vexed, killing James, the brother of John with the sword, and putting Peter in prison. Acts 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the

church. 2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people (KJV) We must remember All FLESH including GENERATIONS ends in Christ; we are neither Jew nor Greek in Christ, according to scripture we MUST become NEW SPIRITUAL creatures, Please read; Exod 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 2 Cor 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.(KJV) Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; (KJV)

Eph 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV) Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in

knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (KJV)

Phil 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; 30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.(KJV)

All must believe on Christ through the apostle’s word, and after baptism must continue steadfastly in the Apostle’s doctrine. This doctrine is found only in New Testament scriptures. Those Jews that believed according to Christ were his disciples and those that did not, were not of him, Please read;

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (KJV)

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. see also verses 36-41 Acts 14:1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.(KJV) Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. (KJV) We must remember according to scripture, Christians cannot be believers and hearers of the word only, but must suffer to be doers, of the Apostle’s Doctrine, Please read; Matt.16:24: Acts 14:22 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we MUST through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. (See also; John12:25-26; Rom.8:1618; 1Thes.3:1-8; 2Tim.2:11-12; 3:12; 1Pet.4:1-2&18)

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (KJV) The Apostle’s Doctrine as they were guided by The Holy Spirit, instruct those of Christ, in how they are to remember him, please read. 1 Cor 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The (1)bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (KJV) 1 Cor 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took (1)bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.(KJV) Definition: (1)bread-740 artos (ar’-tos); from 142; bread (as raised) or a loaf: KJV— (shew-) bread, loaf.

WHAT IS TRUTH? OBSERVING EASTER We have been looking but, we have not been able to find in the Apostle’s word, Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday or even Easter Sunday, which again would be a CONTRADICTION and CONFUSION(1 Cor 14:33), thereby making them traditions of men. According to scripture, true followers of Christ “Christians” cannot, MUST not, be followers of traditions and customs, not authorized by Christ through his Apostles. Because if we are, then there is a command given by the apostles, for such ones, please read; II Th 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6 ow we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that (1)ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that (2)walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. Definitions: (1)ye withdraw yourselves-4724 stello (stel’lo); probably strengthened from the base of 2476; properly, to set fast (“stall”), i.e. (figuratively) to repress (reflexively, abstain from associating with): KJV— avoid, withdrawself. (2)walketh 4043 peripateo-to walk: b) Hebrew for, to live 1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself 3) to pass one’s life We were able to find Easter “Passover”, not as the Church observing it, but the Jews, before being converted to Christ. There is no need for Jews or anyone else to observe Easter/Passover any more. Remember Christ is the end of the Law and there is neither Jew nor Greek in Christ Jesus (see John 1:17, Rom.10:1-5). We must not frustrate the Grace of God, by observing the things of

the law (seeGal.2:14-21, 3:1-5). We are all one in Christ, if all hear obey the law of God’s only begotten Son (seeJames1:22, Rom.3:27, Gal.6:2), to be right with Him according to scriptures, please read. John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.(KJV) Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.(KJV) Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.(KJV) Those that has been baptized into the one Body which is the one Church by the one Lord Jesus Christ, must know and believe according to scripture, there is only one Holy Father and He is not on earth John 17:11-13. The belief and obedience of Eph 4:4-5 would make all have the one Spirit of the one Faith striving to be followers of Christ “Christians”, after the one Baptism. Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called

in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,(KJV) Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.(KJV) 1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God, and (1)one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Definition: (1)one mediator-3316 mesites (mesee’-tace);from 3319; a gobetween, i.e. (simply) an internunciator, or (by implication) a reconciler (intercessor): KJV— mediator.1) one who intervenes between two, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or to form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant 2) a medium of communication, a arbitrator We hope it is scripturally clear on the One Mediator between God and man. There is no one else that man can appeal to as a medium of communication, or to make or restore peace and friendship, but Christ, Christ, Christ, Christ, Christ. If there is a mediator, between man and Christ, then that would be two mediators between God and man. According to God, Christ and his Apostles, there is only ONE MEDIATOR. If anything else is taught, it is not of the truth and is false Doctrine! Now to answer the question that

was asked at the start of this study. “Is The Observance of Easter, by the Church or anyone else, authorized by God (the one and only Holy Father which is in heaven, through Jesus Christ), the one and only mediator between God and man and His Apostles?” The SCRIPTURAL answer is, ABSOLUTELY OT! If anything else is taught, it is not of the truth and is false Doctrine! Dear reader, remember the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, which is false doctrine, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Thanks again for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN, and away from HELL! 2 Cor 13:5 (1)Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves,

how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be (2)reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.(KJV) Definitions: (1)Examine yourselves-3985 peirazo (pi-rad’zo); from 3984; to test (objectively), i.e. endeavor, scrutinize, discipline: KJV— assay, examine, go about, prove. (2)reprobates-96 adokimos (ad-ok’-eemos); unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally): KJV— castaway, reprobate. 2 Tim 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. DEFENSE DOMINATES TSU SPRING GAME By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Texas Southern University Tigers held their annual Spring Game at the Alexander Durley Complex and the defense took center stage. First year coach Darrell Asberry made it clear he was not pleased with the first showing of his Magnolia Spread Offense. “I just didn’t like our effort today, because I watched this team get it done all during the spring training but they didn’t show it today”. Asberry comes from Shaw University where he put together one of the nation’s most high octane offenses. “We are a long ways from where we want to be but we are certainly much better than we showed today”.

passes defended. “That’s why we kept Coach Kevin Ramsey because he has the defense flying all over the place”. As we talked more with Asberry we learned he thought the team was in good position during the training camp. “As an offensive coach you want to get away from that run left and run right, but we are two people at receiver, two on the offensive line, and two at running back away from where we need to be”. However Asberry added he watched these kids get it done all spring, but for some reason they came out flat on during the scrimmage. “I thought the guys came out and walked through plays and I felt they simply gave a half effort, and I want to make it clear our team can do better”.

The bright spot was the way the defense dominated the game with forced turnovers and many

In closing Asberry made it clear the effort was bad and his teams will never make any excuses

despite their numbers being down. “It’s been great all season but it didn’t happen today and I let them know that in the huddle after the game, we have to get it together very quick because September 1st is right around the corner. The TSU cheerleaders under Greg Malone got in some good work during the spring game and they are really fun to watch.

Keep in mind with all the excitement with the new stadium, the Tigers football program will get a lot of attention this fall.

RISING STAR: MICHAEL HOLMES - TSU

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View With defense being the name of the game at the Texas Southern University spring game, Michael Holmes made several big plays in the secondary. Holmes, a sophomore redshirt from Houston Jones High School, also had a pick in the game and several batted down passes as the Tigers defense dominated their spring game.

from surrounding towns like Beaumont, Port Arthur and Pearland to name a few.

The overall numbers are down a bit from last year and that will make the play of Holmes and his defensive backfield mates that much more important!

The fact is the Tigers defensive secondary has about five guys who have seen a lot of game action but are still in their 2nd and 3rd years. Expect them to be one of the bright spots for first year head coach Darrell Asberry when they open in Reliant against Prairie View on September 1st. The local talent will basically carry the load for the Tigers at this position and in other spots on the team as well. Throw in a few quality players who came

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK ADRIAN BENNETT - TSU By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View In the annual Maroon and Gray game the defense of Texas Southern University really out shined the offense. The front four was led by All-SWAC senior Marquis Jackson. But the defensive backs stole the show. The hard hit Adrian Bennett put on Tony Peoples could be heard from the stands. As People broke free around his left side, Bennett a 6 feet 2 inch 205 sophomore redshirt smacked him as they met at the side lines. That certainly went well with the play of Michael Holmes from Jones High School. Keep in mind Darveon Trahan from Jack Yates and Tray Walker are a couple of regulars who will certainly have an impact. By the way Bennett is from Klein Forest and it shows how well the Tigers have recruited Houston, Texas for quality players. One thing is for sure the Tigers will be pretty solid in the defen-

sive secondary for 2012 for years to come. It looks like they are going with second and third year guys who have playing experience.

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK-CHASTON MCFARLAND - TSU By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Texas Southern University Tigers are headed into the 2012 season with some new faces on their offensive line. Gone are some of the big names of the SWAC title team of 2010 and even a few are gone from the 2011 team as well. This puts pressure on fellows like former Lamar High School standout Chaston McFarland who spent a lot of time at right guard in the annual Maroon and Gray game. McFarland is a senior-redshirt standing 6 feet tall and tips the scales at about 250 pounds.

Needless to say the offensive line will have to grow up in a hurry if the Tigers are to make a run in the SWAC this year. STUDENT OF THE WEEK

ELISHA MORGAN-TSU While going out to see the Texas Southern University spring football game we got a chance to visit with cheerleader Elisha Morgan. The lovely and talented sophomore was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas and is a Biology major. Currently holding a 3.0 G.P.A. she has already made plans to become a dentist and have a full family practice. “I recall when I was eight years old I pulled best friend’s tooth that was already loose and it was then I knew I wanted to become a dentist”. Having a great love for dancing, Elisha says she enjoys all kind of dancing and says cheering with TSU is a true blessing for

her. We moved to asked her what it’s like to be working under Greg Malone. “Let me say that Greg has a way of getting the best out of you and if it’s in you, he will get it out and that’s a good thing”. Over the years TSU Cheerleaders have been some of the best in the country at what they do. On Sundays you’ll find Elisha over at Fifth Ward Church of Christ and she is certain that’s the way into heaven. “There are those who knock the Church of Christ but since I was 12 years old I’m been a member of that faith and it has helped me to be a better person and I truly know through God all things are possible”. It was pleasant to chat

with Elisha who considers herself a friendly person and understands just what God has in store for her in life. “Sure I want to be a successful dentist and have a practice Dallas, Texas. She added she wants to marry and have three children and truly become a well rounded professional person and live the American Dream. “I know what I want from this life and hope and pray to God that he will give it to me”. She went on to invite me over to Fifth Ward Church of Christ and calls it a moving experience. The charming graduate of J.A. Fair System Magnet High School in Little Rock Arkansas went on to add her mother (Ernesta Franklin) did a great job of raising her but she feels self motivation is the key to being a good student. “I’ve gotten good help from my mom and I certainly know I can do better than the currently 3.0 that I now have and understand fully it’s up to me to get it done”.

good about pledging to Delta Sigma Beta Sorority. On the subject of Barack Obama becoming the first African American President of the United States, Elisha smiled and said, “It shows we have come a very long way but it also shows we have a way to go to end segregation in this country; his winning the highest office in the land goes a long ways in helping the cause”. In the category of school changes Elisha said she had nothing against foreign language accents but she would like to see some of the professors at TSU do a better job of speaking

Page 20

English. “You know I love TSU, but sometimes it hard to understand what some of the instructors are saying”. When asked if she would do anything over in life, Elisha made it clear she feels she has gotten the best of her young life and would not change a thing. However she added it took some getting use to going to a co-ed school after going to the Magnet High School in Little Rock. It goes to show just how hard Greg Malone has worked with this group because it was another cheerleader who recommended Elisha for the honor.

Describing herself as a friendly person, who always looks at the good side of things, she feels
