Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

LEXUS LS 460L - CLASSIC LUXURY Missouri City, Texas-This time around we went for a ride in the all-new Lexus LS 460 L and let me say right off the bat it may have been the finest vehicle we have ever driven. It simply had all the modern up to date bells and whistles you come to expect as still it was basic enough to operate it just as you would any other vehicle. We must applaud Lexus on doing a marvelous job of making the vehicle very functional despite of the fact is was simply State-Of-The-Art in design. Power for the new Lexus is a proven 4.6 Liter 386 horsepower Four Cam 32-valve V8 engine with electronically controlled intake valve timing and dual fuel injection system. Let us not forget we are talking about a fullsize vehicle with nearly 400 horses under the hood and it still got 24 miles per gallon on the highway and has a combined 19 miles per gallon. Lexus also mated this engine to an all-new 8-speed sequential automatic transmission with drive mode select with eco/normal & sport modes. Electronic power steering system makes handling the vehicle unbelievable for a vehi-

cle of this size. All this wonderful power transforms itself to the pavement on Hollow Chamber 18 “ Aluminum alloy wheels with liquid graphite finish neatly wrapped by P 235/50R18 “ VRates tires and a full-size spare to boot. Oh yes Lexus was thinking big time while putting this baby together. Leaving no detail out in the process! Inside driver and all passengers are treated to genuine wood/aluminum interior trim including wood/leather steering wheel with multi-function controls. But the thing that got me was the heated and cooled seats and let me tell you the cool seats are worth their weight in Gold. Image getting in your vehicle on a hot day the way the seat normally burns your backside. In just seconds the cool function makes that seat perfect and it got just warm

enough during our weeklong test period for me to check that out twice as well as the warm features once. A 12.3 inch screen came in handy for those of us who wear glasses because it made the screen so easy to read and as we told you earlier it was simply and very driver friendly to operate. Lexus again gets an A when they added a touch remote or joy stick like control to operate the system. Even the first time we operated it we understood how to make the most of it.

new Lexus also has high intensity discharge Bi-Xenon headlamps with adaptive front lighting and dynamic auto leveling and integrated LED fog lamps and turn signals. The daytime running lamps and rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers just add to a long list of standard features. A few extra features like Intuitive Park Assist and Auto Door Closer and stolen vehicle location emergency Assist Button (SOS) and enhanced

Roadside Assistance (1-year trial). Optional equipment includes a Mark Levinson 19-speaker with Single CD/DVD player as part of the Ultra Luxury package. With this total package the price tag goes over 98 Grand but let me tell you we feel it’s worth every cent of it. If you are in the market for a Luxury vehicle you owe it to yourself to visit you Lexus dealer and see for yourself!

As far as back seat riders goes the new Lexus LS 460 L had them in mind as well. The rear seats has easily the best in class leg room as well as head and shoulder room and yes those seats actually have recline feature. With a center arm rest that folds up to make room for three people the new Lexus again met the standards and exceeded the standards of most. Lexus clearly has the full compliments of airbags, safety curtains, side mounts and knee airbags as wells as rear side curtain and you name it this vehicle had it. In addition to the modern up to date braking system the

mium audio system with automatic sound levelizer and a 90day free trial for XM Satellite radio. Bluetooth technology and hands free phone is also available on this model. It’s been nearly 15 years since we first test drove a hybrid and we must admit now it like a regular deal. Toyota and Lexus have led the industry in producing these products and the first question people ask is what’s the warranty and does it really work? We can say as we move into our 15th year of being behind the wheel of hybrid automobiles. Yes they do work and work very well at that.

All of the above is backed by 4year/50,000 miles basic coverage, 5-year/70,000 mile power train warranty, 5-year/unlimited miles corrosion perforation warranty and an 8-year/100,000 mile hybrid battery /components. That’s should drive home the fact Lexus is willing and able to stand behind their hybrid products year after year.

Lexus goes a step further in standing behind their products with a 24-hour/365 day/year roadside assistance plan along with complimentary 1st and 2nd

SCION TC 3-DOOR LIFTBACK READY FOR THE ROAD By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Fort Worth, Texas-It’s been quite a while since we took a small automobile on the road. That was the case as we took the new 2014 Scion tC to the Dallas Metro-plex and found it to be a pleasantly surprising trip. Yes when in the past we took smaller vehicles on the road you had let’s just say Road Weariness but that was not the case. The Scion tC 3- door liftback had plenty of room upfront and the overall cockpit was very comfortable. Yes you would think on a trip like this a smaller car would get your attention. It did by is an unexpectedly pleasing way. The 31 miles on the highway made it easy for us to make the trip without having to fuel before we got there and actually we went over into Fort Worth and came back Dallas before we had to fuel. We were really impressed when you consider the fact we are talking about a vehicle that barely tipped the wallet for just over 20 grand fully equipped. One of the strong points was safety for the new Scion tC with an overall score of 5-star from the NHTSA. A 5-star rating for

the frontal crashes on the driver side and the front passenger gets a 4-star rating. In side impact crashes both front and rear seat passengers get a 5-star rating and a 4-star rating in rollovers based on single vehicle accidents. Driver and front passengers advanced airbag system along with front and rear seat mounted side airbags. There are driver and front passenger knee airbags and both front and rear side curtains airbags plus and active front seats head rest. Let us not forget we are talking about vehicle that is considered a compact.

wrapped steering wheel with audio controls making handling the vehicle a breeze.

Sounds come from a Pioneer 300 Watt AM/FM/CD/HD radio with 8-speakers Aux/USB port with iPod connectivity and Hands free phone capability and Music Streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology.

Front sport bucket seats and 60/40 split reclining fold flat rear seats completes the interior layout. In closing please allow me to add this vehicle also has a full tank of gasoline and other features that include power windows and door locks along with engine immobilizer.

Power comes from a 180 horsepower 2.5 liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16 Valve Dual VVTI and is mated to a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission. This is transformed to the road surfaces on P225/45R 18 tires wrapped around a set of 18 inch alloy wheels. When you see this baby going down the road you first feel it’s a more expensive vehicle because of his wider stance and aggressive looking grille up front and stylish overall look. The renowned Cherokee name returns to the Jeep® vehicle lineup for the 2014 model year. The Jeep Cherokee is set to delight consumers both on the road and on the trail. “The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be the benchmark for mid-size SUVs with a new level of on-road driving dynamics and fuel economy, while at the same time improving the 4x4 capability that customers expect from Jeep,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Jeep Cherokee boasts a new design, a ninespeed automatic transmission and two advanced engines, class-leading capability from three innovative 4x4 systems, more than 70 safety features, and a host of new technology features.” Jeep 4x4 capability The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee provides a choice of three innovative 4x4 systems for best-in-class 4x4 capability in all weather conditions. The Jeep Cherokee is the first mid-size SUV to feature rear-axle disconnect, resulting in reduced energy loss when 4x4 capability isn’t needed, improving fuel efficiency. The rear-axle disconnect seamlessly switches between two- and four-wheel drive for full-time torque management and does not require input from the driver. The Jeep Cherokee offers best-in-class V6 towing capability of 4,500 pounds. Jeep Active Drive I Available on the Cherokee Sport, Latitude and Limited models, Jeep Active Drive I features a single power transfer unit (PTU) which is fully automatic and delivers seamless operation in and out of fourwheel drive at any speed. The system does not require any driver intervention or feedback, delivers yaw correction during dynamic events and improves both understeer and oversteer conditions. Jeep Active Drive II Available on the Cherokee Sport, Latitude and Limited models, Jeep Active Drive II includes a two-speed PTU with torque management and low range. 4-Low mode locks the front and rear drive shafts for

low-speed power or towing. Low range provides a 2.92:1 gear reduction. The gear reduction allows for enhanced climbing ability as well outstanding crawl ratios for severe off-road conditions. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee with Jeep Active Drive II gives the off-road adventurer a ride height that is increased by an inch, a crawl ratio of 56:1 when powered by the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 engine, and 47.8:1 when powered by the new 3.2liter Pentastar V-6 engine – up to a 90percent improvement versus the outgoing model. Jeep Active Drive Lock Jeep Active Drive Lock includes all the features of Jeep Active Drive II and adds a locking rear differential for superior low-speed power for severe off-road conditions. Jeep Active Drive Lock is standard on all Trailhawk models. All 4x4 systems feature the Jeep brand’s renowned Selec-Terrain traction control system, which allows the driver to choose the on- and off-road setting for optimum performance. Five customized settings are offered: Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud and Rock. Through the use of algorithms that enable unsurpassed control and capability, Selec-Terrain electronically coordinates and optimizes up to 12 systems on any terrain providing enhanced vehicle control including: drivetrain control module, electronic brake controller, electronic stability control (ESC), transmission controller, powertrain controller and SelecSpeed Control (Hill-ascent and Hilldescent Control). Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk: Trail Rated The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk model exemplifies Jeep 4x4 capability with a distinctive, aggressive look, backed up by Jeep Trail Rated hardware, for the most capable Jeep Cherokee model and the most capable mid-size SUV in the segment. The Trailhawk includes as standard equipment aggressive approach and departure angles, complements of the unique front and rear fascias, one-inch factory lift, Jeep Active Drive Lock with locking rear differential, skid plates and signature red tow hooks. The locking rear differential is selectable in any low range terrain mode, but will lock automatically when in certain modes, such as “Rock,” to maximize tractive effort at the tire patch that can support it. The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk boasts an approach angle of 29.8 degrees, a departure angle of 32.1 degrees and breakover angle of 23.3 degrees. Running ground clearance is 8.7 inches. The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk model with the standard offroad package is Trail Rated. The “Trail Rated” badge on the Jeep Cherokee

Trailhawk indicates that the vehicle is designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording. World-class architecture FIAT Group architecture is the basis for the underpinnings of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The Compact U.S. Wide (CUS-wide) platform’s proven modular architecture means many models can be built using the same basic underpinnings. The result is better quality and reliability, as well as lower costs, less development time and tooling. The architecture Cherokee is built on is comprised of common, modular and interchangeable components and allows for modularity of the wheelbase, front track, rear track, front overhang, length and width across vehicle lines. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee’s body structure has a high-strength steel content of roughly 65 percent. Hot stamped-, highstrength- and ultra-high-strength steel are used to construct a strong, lightweight, solid vehicle architecture. Superior on-road performance and fuel efficiency The 2014 Jeep Cherokee premium onroad manners and fuel efficiency are a result of a number of efforts by Jeep engineers. Powered by the choice of two new engines mated to a segment-first ninespeed automatic transmission, the all-new Cherokee delivers the power drivers appreciate on the road with fuel economy improvements of more than 45 percent compared with the outgoing model. With expected highway fuel economy ratings of up to 31 miles per gallon (mpg) and a driving range on a tank of gasoline of nearly 500 miles, the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee delivers drivers a no-compromise ownership experience. The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee features Chrysler Group’s 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission, the first time a ninespeed automatic transmission has been used in the segment and is standard equipment in all models of the new Cherokee. The nine-speed transmission delivers numerous benefits customers will appreciate, including aggressive launches, smooth power delivery at highway speeds and improved fuel efficiency versus a sixspeed automatic transmission. Efficiency and refinement also are hallmarks of Chrysler Group’s 16-valve, 2.4liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 I-4 engine, which comes standard in the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The 2.4-liter Tigershark engine offers up to an estimated 31 mpg highway fuel economy rating, a more than 45-percent improvement versus the outgoing model, and a driving range on a tank of gasoline of nearly 500 miles. The 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 Tigershark I-4 engine produces 184 horsepower and 171 lb.-ft. of torque. The acclaimed electro-hydraulic fully variable valve-lift system uses a column of oil in place of the traditional mechanical link between the camshaft and intake valves. As a result, it delivers precise control of the intake-valve events – beginning and end – delivering reductions in engine-pumping losses and increases in volumetric efficiency.

In addition to reducing carbon-dioxide emissions, MultiAir accounts for a fueleconomy boost of up to 7.5 percent, compared with engines with conventional valve trains. The 2.4-liter is the third engine to feature MultiAir technology from Chrysler Group and features the second generation “MultiAir 2” system that further enhances combustion control, improves fuel efficiency and reduces exhaust emissions. Performance ratings for the 2.4-liter engine are 184 horsepower (137 kW) and 171 lb.-ft. (232 Nm) of torque. The available new 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is the first derivative of the celebrated 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines three years running. The available new 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine benefits from the same innovations that earned its larger displacement predecessor industry–wide acclaim for efficiency, power and refinement. For the driver, that means a refined driving experience with reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and an exceptional balance of higher specific power output (84.2 horsepower per liter) while delivering fuel economy improvements of 30 percent versus the outgoing V-6 engine. The 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine produces 271 horsepower, 239 lb.ft. of torque and delivers best-in-class V-6 towing of 4,500 pounds. The all new Jeep Cherokee mid-size SUV sports a new front independent suspension with MacPherson struts and a new rear independent multi-link suspension. The front suspension provides 6.7 inches of travel while the rear suspension provides up to 7.8 inches of travel for better articulation. The isolated rear cradle, aluminum front crossmember and superior torsional rigidity all contribute to the quieter, smoother ride and superior handling characteristics drivers will experience in the Cherokee. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is equipped with an electronic power steering system (EPS) that improves fuel efficiency and contributes to the Jeep Cherokee’s nimbleness with a turn circle radius of approximately 36 feet in 4x2 models, approximately 38 feet in 4x4 models and roughly 39 feet in the Trailhawk off-road model. With EPS all of the power assist is provided via an electric motor system rather than a traditional hydraulic system. Because the system is fully electronic, the driver experiences optimal steering effort at all vehicle speeds, and there is less noise and better fuel efficiency since there is no parasitic loss from a power steering pump. Design The 2014 Jeep Cherokee mid-size SUV debuts a new exterior designed for the future with a global appeal. Jeep designers were inspired to create a vehicle that moves Jeep into the next era with a shape that is efficient without losing Jeep DNA and design heritage. The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is a vehicle that not only looks efficient and capable, but is efficient and capable - in all on-road, trail and weather conditions. Fluid, sleek exterior lines highlight the efficient, wind-splitting upper body of the all-new Cherokee. The rugged, protective lower body conveys the legendary capability that is characteristic of every Jeep.

Safety and Security The new Cherokee was engineered with more than 70 available safety and security features. The Jeep Cherokee starts with a strong foundation constructed with 65 percent high-strength steel. Engineers then added both active and passive safety and security features, including: Chrysler Group vehicle firsts ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and Lane Departure Warning-Plus; 9-1-1 assist call; ESC; Electronic Roll Mitigation; Blindspot Monitoring; Rear Cross Path detection; ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines and 10 standard air bags.

Lane Departure Warning-Plus, which is offered for the first time in a Chrysler Group vehicle, uses a camera-based vision sensor to establish the Jeep Cherokee’s position on the road. If there occurs an unintentional lane drift, determined by trajectory change and the absence of turn-signal activation, the system will deliver a visual warning and a haptic warning – the subtle introduction of torque from the electric power steering (EPS) system. If the driver unintentionally drifts too far, the system provides a secondary visual warning.

The ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist feature in the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is a first in a Chrysler Group vehicle. Using ultrasonic parking sensors on the bumper the system will find and guide customer into an available parking space when the driver initiates parking maneuver. The parking guidance system controls the steering angle automatically, the driver controls the gear position, brake, and accelerator. Parallel parking is possible on either side of the car; during perpendicular parking, the vehicle is backed into the space. Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, a first for a Chrysler Group vehicle, is significant for its capacity to bring the vehicle to a complete stop without driver intervention in certain conditions. Radar and video sensors identify the locations of vehicles traveling ahead of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The sensors also help ensure the vehicles are separated by a gap determined by the driver. If the gap is dramatically breached, the ESC system can aggressively deploy the vehicle’s brakes to affect a full stop, even if the driver never touches the brake pedal. To resume travel, the driver need only press a button on the steering wheel or tap the accelerator pedal. Forward Collision Warning-Plus, another Chrysler Group first, addresses traffic-gap changes when Adaptive Cruise ControlPlus is inactive. When radar and video sensors detect a fast-closing obstacle ahead, the system pre-fills the brakes to prepare for emergency driver intervention. If collision risk remains, Forward Collision Warning-Plus correspondingly ratchets up the response with: • audible and visual warnings • a brief brake deployment to alert the driver • a 1.5-second brake deployment to

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

JAYREN STEPHENS-COWBOYS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Cypress, Texas-When you are in a nick and tuck game with only one point between the two teams defense is a key. Despite playing with deep bruise on his right arm Jayren Stephens took matters into his own hands as the defensive end turn back runners from the Marlins. From his defensive end position Stephens controlled the line of scrimmage and helped the Cowboys to a 76 victory before a good crowd. A second grader at Holbrook Elementary Stephens says he feel pretty good about the way the school in ran and would not change anything if they made him the Principal. In the classroom he likes Math best and

says he feels he’s good at it as well. Detroit Lions All-Pro Calvin Johnson is his favorite NFL player. In his spare time Jayren likes to play NFL games on the computer and from the looks of his play he does well on the field also. A tremendously effort is being made by the Cy-Fair School district in building youth athletics and they are still going strong. Time surely flies because it hasn’t been that long since Joe Stephens was playing linebacker himself at Smiley high school. He is excited he and his wife has 3 boys and two are already playing football and the youngest is only 4 months old but he will be ready in little or no time!

A RISING STAR: DYLAN DOSS - COWBOYS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Cypress, Texas-After a tough year of going winless QB Dylan Doss says things are going to be different in 2013. “Sir last year we did not win a game and sometimes we didn’t even score any points but we are going to be better this time around. The student from Adams Elementary School says he feels the team is ready to play football this time around. Sporting his plays on his left arm Dylan and his teammates are looking for bigger and better things this fall. “If we don’t score points our coaches give us some extra laps to run so we wanted to avoid those extra laps today”. With the game on the line and fourth down the Marlins blitz and tried to separate the ball from Dylan but the kid held on tight as he fell to the ground and the clock ran out on the next play. Getting the ball to running back Christien Sattiewhite most of the day Dylan did a good job with their game plan as they maintain ball control and the won the close game 7-6.

We certainly want to applaud the Cy-Fair School district for helping to keep their youth involved in athletics year round. If you fast forward a few years you be seen Dylan directing his high school team to the playoffs.

But first things first he says he and the Cy-Creek Cowboys 8 and 9 year guys are out to win some games this fall. Fact is he said this showing in their spring league is only the beginning of bigger and better things for the Cowboys!

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: TYRIQUE PERRY - COWBOYS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Cypress, Texas-Offensive linemen don’t always get their just due on the football field. While out covering the Cy-Creek Cowboys the other weekend we ran into an interesting lineman. The 2nd grader at Frazier

Elementary Schools liked science best in the classroom. Interesting enough to tough lineman added if he was in charge he would probably do away with home work. He simply said he feels teachers should be able to cram it all into the school day but he later added he would mind having a little homework in his science class. Over the years kids have always simply said what’s on their minds and that is a good thing. However on the field Perry was willing to work overtime blocking for his runningback Christien Sattiewhite and protecting his QB Dylan Doss. After talking a while with Tyrique he admitted he loved Science enough to work harder on it after school and he really feels pretty good about attending Frazier Elementary School.

As far as the game went the thrilling 7-6 win Perry said his team played pretty good and he

looks forward to more games so he and his teammates can get better and win more games.

CY-CREEK COWBOYS GETTING READY FOR 2013 By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Cypress, Texas-We have a special profile for you this time around and we think you’ll like what you read. Fact is the CyFair ISD has always been one of the tops in the country when it comes to youth athletics and that is still the case today. They actually have a spring football league; yes we meant to say a little league that plays football in the spring. Thanks to Joe Stephens of Con-way Freight we were invited out to see the

action and found it to be interesting. More than 20 years ago we officiated youth basketball in the Cy-Fair Sport Association. Man, this certainly brought back memories to say the least. Keep in most of the youths are actually playing little league baseball and some are participating in Track and field, but to keep their programs sharp they added this spring league to the mix. It’s working because about 5 teams saw action and we had the opportunity to see the 8 and 9 year-old players. Head coach Byron Swisher and his staff had

their team ready to play and we also noted they had their plays on their sleeves so they are doing it high tech. Giving players this kind of teaching at such an early age certainly has its rewards. We know that to be a fact because the Studewood Cobras will have at least two or three players drafted in the NFL this year!

Tyrique Perry and the rest of the offensive line. While defensive end Jayren Stephens led their defense that allowed a touchdown but now PAT and held on to win the game. The smaller guys from the Cowboys won big over the Marlins earlier in the day. Having cheerleaders and team moms out for spring game is a

wonderful ideal and we know this league will do better and so well the Cowboys. Having a tough year last season the team is out to make a run at the playoffs in 2013. We plan to cover more on this heartwarming story and we certainly want to thank Joe Stephens who played his high school football at Smiley High School for asking us out!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK SPENCER BROWN-BURRUS We’ve got a great student for you this time around in our series of Fiesta Student of the Week. He’s 3rd grade at Burrus Elementary school and a straight A student this year. The handsome son of Tara and Cephus Brown is very interested in comic and loves the comic Dead Pool. But his major plan is to get into designing his very own comic strip. That’s a wonderful thing seeing a youngster wanting to get into the business side of comical strip industry.

In the classroom Spencer just loves reading comics and says he is very interested in having his very own because he feels he has something to offer to the industry. Brown has the talent to draw and has his mind made up on what he wants to do in his adult life. When asked about President Barack Obama becoming the first African American President of the United States Spencer quickly said he feels it a great

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK CHRISTIEN SATTIEWHITE - COWBOYS Cypress, Texas-Little League Spring football yes that’s what we meant to say. Thanks to a tip from parent Joe Stephens we got wind of the fact the Cy-Fair area is still taking care of business when it comes to youth athletics. Fact is they have a spring football league. The Cy-Creek Cowboys faced the Hiram Clark Marlins in the 8 and 9 year old age group. With a thriller of a

finish the Cowboys edged the Marlins 7-6 as running back Christien Sattiewhite scored the winning touchdown. The setback said he loves attending Frazier Elementary school but if they made him the Principal he would do away with school uniforms. He went on to add he wonders why does the 5th graders get their lunch period before the 4th graders do. Those

On the subject of school changes Brown made it clear if he would become Principal at Burrus Elementary he would simply do away with the school Uniform dress code. “I just think students should be able to dress the way they like as long as it is in clean taste and not have everyone walking around with the same thing on”. The Boston Marathon Bombing has made the news with both suspects facing justice we got Spencer thoughts on that. He said while shaking his head people just always doing stupid things that winds up hurting other people”. are good questions and hopefully the school officials will give him an answer. But back to the matter at hand Christien said he was taught how to stiff arm a would be tackler by his uncle (Jessie Washington). “My uncle showed me that a long time ago and when I saw him coming I just simply put my arm and out and scored the touchdown. Sattiewhite added he and his squad must keep following their coaching staff in order to win more games. “If we do what they say we have a chance to be a good team this fall because today showed we can win a close game. The final score 7-6 is about a close as it gets. So the Cowboys open the spring football play with a win and for this group it’s a good start for better times ahead.

If given a chance to live his short life over Spencer said he would change nothing because he feels he has pretty much gotten the most of life so far. He added he visits True Light Missionary Baptist Church and says he likes what he sees there. Describing himself as a funny guy who is also nice and easy going, Brown made it clear again he thinks a good comic can brighten up people lives with a little fun. Other than his family Brown said his teachers at Burrus do a wonderful job of making his days at the north side school interesting and keeps him on the right path. The sooner one makes up their mind on what they want in life, the job of reaching ones goal is closer in reach!

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE LEGENDARY CLAUDE “RICK” ROBERTS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View My mind goes back to May of 1970 when we first came to Houston and my brother Charlie told me to tune in to KYOK AM 1590. That was the first time I actually heard Rick Roberts on the radio and man I was so impressed it made me feel good about going into the broadcast industry. It was Rick Roberts who seems to be having so much fun in the radio and yet he had a very serious side to go along with his shucking and jiving. KYOK was the one people listen too all over the Texas Gulf Coast and they were involved in all the concerns and made it their business to be part of the community they served. Roberts along with the late Brother George Nelson on the Gospel side kept the public informed on what was going on. It all started when Claude “Rick” Roberts was born on November 11, 1941 in Houston, Texas. While at very young age his father took him to see George Prather of KGBC in Galveston, Texas and it sold Rick on radio for his feature. Reports say that Prather was the first African American on the radio live in the southwest and he broadcast while in a wheel chair. A few year later while at B. H Grimes elementary school Roberts had the pleasure of meeting Vernon Chambers of KCOH AM 1430 ad that inspired Rick more and he was sure. After going to Ryan middle school the Roberts family moved to Maggie Street in Sunnyside and Rick went on attend Evan E. Worthing high school. It was then in the 10th

grade he entered a radio talent contest and won first place. That netted him a chance to attend The Texas Academy of Broadcasting scholarship and he was on his way to one of the most exciting radio careers of All-times. While working at KYOK part time and finishing high school Rick learned the ropes of the industry and once he graduated in 1960 he went full-time.

Houston and KYOK in 1967. It was then Roberts started on a 21 year string of nothing but the best in broadcasting and set new standards for blacks in the industry. Joining the late Rev. L. J Woodard to help with the Christian Rescue Mission provided food and clothing for the needy. Roberts did radiothons for the Eliza Johnson House for the Aged and many other businesses in our community.

On Decemb4re 17, 1961 Rick Married the lovely and talented Mable Jewel (Adkins) and the couple went on to produce four children from this union (Michael/Monica, Kevin Craig, Kecia Michonne and Latoyua Chandre. They have two granddaughters in Chantoya Mikelle Taylor and Kacielyn Amiyah Roberts.

In the late 60 Rick recorded a song called “Merry Christmas World” using the voice of a character he created (Rutabaga) and it should have been a hit. The studio time was purchased by the late Mildred Jones of the famous Jones sister and produced by Andre Williams. We hope to fine Williams so we can put it on the market. Thanks to Joe Harris who had a copy on cassette we were able to get Vel Locks to digital re-master it for us and we gave Rick a copy of it. More on that as we get information to get it done the proper way.

Just when things started to roll with Roberts he was uprooted to WBOK in New Orleans, Louisiana. But Rick took his new job in strive and continued to grow in the profession. He went onto meet Dick Oppenheimer and Oppenheimer brought Roberts back to

who later became sales manager and later KYOK AM station manager. But the Southern graduate had the upmost respect for Roberts and the two worked together on some record setting projects and kept building the

KYOK name into the legendary station it went on to become. Rosette and Roberts teamed up to help little Shana Wilkerson raised 62 thousand dollars for a liver transplant.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE LEGENDARY CLAUDE “RICK” ROBERTS Roberts also help the Kashmere Stage Band raise more than 50 Thousand Dollars for a trip to a Festival overseas. It was Roberts who went on a live remote to help the NAACP start up again after it had closed its door in Houston at one point. As the years went by Roberts continued to set the standards as he took to the mike on the air more than two days none stop to provide information for Hurricane Alisa in the early 80s. Roberts moved on to take over the airways doing play-by-play for HISD sports, Grambling, Prairie View and Texas Southern sports. He served as the on-site engineer as well as producer of these great radio broadcasts and working with announcers from Brother George Nelson, Ralph Cooper and Myron Anderson and Bill German to name a few. One thing was clear during these broadcasts in Rick Roberts was taking charge. By the time the late 80s rolled around KYOK had been sold and was under their third owner former Green Packer Willie Davis. With more than 21 consecutive record breaking years Roberts left KYOK and moved over to KTSU 90.9 FM. He continued his trend of setting a new standard and turns KTSU into one of the city’s most powerful vehicles. Through all of this Roberts managed to hire many of the names you hear on the radio all over the city and the country as far as that goes. Let just start with the new KCOH 1230 AM Michael Harris, Steven Talton, Tommy D. Armstrong, Ralph Cooper and Don Samuel. Taking a look at KTSU these days to name a few guys Little Rickie Williams, Rev. Charles Hudson and Slick Rick Lauderdale.

Due to Health reasons Roberts retired in 2000 after more than 42 years on the air. Somewhere between mid-night and day break on March 2-3 Roberts suffered a massive stroke and never spoke another word before passing away on March 21, 2013. Ending one of the greatest voices of all-times and closing a chapter of Broadcasting excellent like non-other this country has seen! When I turn on the radio now-adays it’s just not the same without hearing the voice of Rick

Roberts because I knew that voice really cared about the people listening to him and he tried his best to make you feel what he was doing as well as made you want to become part of it. In February 2007 Fiesta honored Rick Roberts at the 14th Annual

about old times Rick gave me the courage to keep working on my publication and inspired me to talk with people in the entertainment industry and he told me they are just people like anyone else. The Legendary Millie Jackson was one of those who sent flowers to Rick’s Home

going services and that just showed how many lives Rick touched during his career. The angels are probably gathered around Rick Roberts right now waiting on him to tell them some of those entertainment stories!

THANKS MYRON FOR HAVING US LISTENING BACK By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The month of February 2013 will always be a tough month for me to look back on. For while in the midst of grieving for my brother (Charlie Winston) passing on February 7th, we were told a day later that world famous listening Back DJ Myron Anderson had passed on the same day. They say the Lord knows just how much we can bare but let me this you this is a great deal. Myron Anderson was born on October 15, 1949 in Sunnyside Community of Southeast Houston, Texas. He confessed Christ at age 10 at Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church and quickly became the speaker on many programs. Anderson later joined East Macedonia Baptist Church and his love for music was enhanced when the joined the choir. Myron credited his

mother Mrs. Odell Anderson for keeping him on the straight and narrow path. Playing little league baseball Anderson went on to attend B. H Grimes and Thornton M. Fairchild Elementary schools and Crispus Attucks Junior high before graduating from Evan E. Worthing high school. After attending San Jac Junior College a couple of semesters Anderson transferred to Texas Southern University as a part time student while working at Hughes Tool. In February 1981 Myron did a Black History Program on radio station KTSU 90.9 FM and it was so well received they asked him back time and time again. Before long Anderson Listening Back Program had set standard for going back to the music you grew up listening to. Ten years later Myron secured Fiesta as a corporate sponsor and that allowed him to move forward

taking his program to a new level. Thus Listening Back Memorabilia was born and Tshirts, Caps and Satin Jackets became some of the prizes you could win by listening to his program. He also gave away Listening Back CDs with some of the greatest music of all-times on it. In May of 1987 Myron received his B S degree Telecommunication from TSU. He even took time to do TSU Sports on the radio as well all kind of functions going on in our community. This simply made him a household name and he began to emcee shows involving such legends as Smokey Robinson, Johnny Nash and his beloved Temptations. Going on to have the now famous Listening Back parties in which he would do lip-sync shows with a group as they dress up like the Temptation and per-

All over the city of Houston Anderson went about his business of creating interest in music from days gone by. Every Friday morning from 6 AM until 10 AM he would take us down memory lane and we certainly miss that flavor Myron had with his shows.

thanked the staff at North Cypress Medical Center including nurses and Doctors who gave Myron outstanding care during his last days. They also thank the KTSU Family, Windsor Village United Methodist Church, The ultimate Faith Family and all his Listening Back supporters over the years.

For the past 7 years Myron was married to Beth Anderson and she wrote a good note in the funeral program for Anderson ending in the words “Rest On, My Sweetie”. At last check KTSU had “Slick “ Rick Lauderdale on the Friday Morning run and we know Rick will do a good job. The family of Myron Anderson

ARTIE ‘BLUES BOY’ WHITE PASSES AWAY

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Chicago, Illinois-With his caring wife (Betty) by his side and listening to his old buddy Ernie Johnson new Gospel CD, Blues legend Artie “Blues Boy “White passed away at his home in Chicago. After a long illness he departed but not before leaving some of the best recordings of down home blues. Born on April 16, 1937 Artie White started out singing gospel at age 11 with a group called the Harps of David. He soon moved to Chicago in 1956 and quickly begun recording singles. Receiving a good bit of success for his 1977 hit “You are my leanin Tree”, White continued to

work hard until he released his first full album in 1984. In 1987 he signed with Ichiban and had several album releases with them including “Thangs got to Change” in 1989, and Best of Artie White in 1991.

Highly respected in the Business during his sick time he got visits from such notables as Millie Jackson among others.

A few years later White recorded for Waldoxy an affiliated studio with Malaco Records. That lasted for about four years and then Artie started his own label called A Chill Town and produced several CDs including one with Lee Shot Williams “Chicago Deep in 2003 on P-Vine. His latest CD was “Package Deal” in 2005 shortly after that time White became ill and never fully recovered. File photos of the flashes dressing Artie “Blues Boy” White

HOUSTON BIKEWAYS Spring is here, even though the weather may be a bit deceiving. Summer is just around the corner and school will be out soon. We are blessed with some great spring weather and bicycling and hiking are two great ways to get outside and get some exercise. If you don’t know, there are a number of ways to get around our city that don’t involve traveling on the roads. There is a trend in the nation to remove main line railroad tracks. In many cases these right of ways are used for highway expansion. Two examples in Houston are the tracks that ran along the Katy Freeway (I-10 East). These tracks, once owned by the MKT Railroad, were removed during the I-10 rebuild which was completed in 2008. Although the project made commuting much easier for people living on the West Side, it did nothing to assist bicyclists. A link was promised to connect the Hershey Park Trail to the Addicks Park and Ride Lot and later to the Cullen Park Trail. It was never completed. A second set of tracks were removed along what is not the Westpark Tollway. These tracks were secured by Metro to allow the toll road to be built. Again, there was never a benefit to those that do not drive. In many other cities, especially in the north, abandoned railroad tracks were turned into something very green many years ago. Rails to Trails projects exist in great numbers. In Indiana, for example, The Cardinal Greenway is a 62 mile paved trail that spans from Marion to Richmond. It was started in 1992. Houston has gotten on the bandwagon even if it is a little later than other areas. Here we can enjoy paved hiking and biking trails that allow travel around town. If you know where these trails are you can ride all over our city in relative safety. These trips can be combined with bus transportation as all Metro busses are equipped with bike racks. Metro light rail trains allow bicycles during non-peak

hours. Some of the better known trails in our town are: The Brays Bayou Trail meanders along Brays Bayou from MacGregor Park to Gessner. This approximately 12 mile trail along the bayou was built by Harris County and is maintained by County Precinct 3, Precinct 1, and Precinct 2. The trail can be accessed through the Houston Zoo and has a few grade level crossings once you are outside the Loop. This trail is built on a shelf below ground level and above river level on the Brays Bayou until you get to Loop 610 then it runs at surface level.

Currently the trail in undergoing improvements and there may be a couple of bridge detours along the way. After heavy rains the level of the Bayou may rise enough to cover the trail so be careful! This is one of the oldest trails in our city and is narrower than most. The views of Rice University and the Medical Center are a wonderful distraction while running or riding. The Harrisburg-Sunset Trail is a Rails to Trails project offering bicyclists and pedestrians over 5 miles of trail and on-street bikeways just east of downtown Houston. The 10-foot asphalt trail is lighted and runs from Drennan to Marsden, and from Avenue H to Hidalgo Park. The on-street portion of the trail includes segments from Commerce and McKee, to Commerce and Drennan, and from Garrow and Marsden to Avenue H and West Hendrick. This trail offers access to Downtown and the three stadiums on the East Side of Downtown. It also has connec-

tions to other trails and on street bikeways. Completed in 2003, this trail is a joint project funded by the City of Houston and Metro. The Columbia Tap Trail is a Rails-to-Trials conversion project which consists of over 4 miles of a 10-foot wide, concrete, multi-use hike and bike trail along the old Columbia Tap railroad. The trail corridor extends from Dixie Drive past Polk Street and into downtown, along the former Union Pacific Railroad right-ofway creating a greenway corridor in the Third Ward and downtown area. The project is bound by Dowling Street on the west and Scott Street on the east. The Union Station Extension connects Minute Maid Park with a trail that will take you to the main campus of the University of Houston. It is also a great way to get to the Toyota Center and BBVA Compass Stadium. The West White Oak Bayou Trail offers bicyclists and pedestrians almost 5 miles of 10-foot wide concrete and asphalt trail with 2-foot shoulders on each side. The trail is lighted and includes railings in some areas. The trail runs along the bayou and T. C. Jester Park, parallel to T. C. Jester Boulevard, from 11th Street to Pinemont. This beautiful trail allows access from Downtown to the near northwest side inside the loop. There are many more trails in this town waiting to be discovered. Many are lighted and

Page 20

available 24 hours. In addition, our city has a network of bike lanes along major routes. In the city, there are over 300 miles of interconnected bike lanes, bike routes, sign-shared lanes. If you wish to ride a bikeway or bicycle trail remember to be courteous to others and obey the rules. Most of the rules are common sense. Keep to the right. Pass hikers and other bikes only when save and identify yourself (A quick “ON YOUR LEFT”) will make passing safer. Respect others but watch for children and dogs. Don’t leave trash on the trails. Although not required, a good bicycle helmet may help save your life. Information on these and other trails can be found at http://www.houstonbikeways.org , a comprehensive website run by the city. Get our and ride safe. It is a great way to get out and about!

KING-SIZE MOVERS AND SHAKERS KAYLAN MARIE THOMAS AND KYLA MILAN THOMAS By Dr. Victor Keys A King-Size View We are pleased to announce that we have two outstanding young ladies to be selected as Kingsize Movers and Shakers for the month of April. Kaylan Marie Thomas and Kyla Milan Thomas are the daughters of Pastor Gordon Thomas and First Lady Vonda Kay Thomas. Both young ladies are extremely active in their father’s church, Perfecting Ministries Church which is located in Sugar Land, Texas. During my interview of the two sisters, I discovered that both sisters were very good students with excellent behavior and good attendance at school. When I asked them about their future, both young ladies plan on going to college with modeling and acting as possible career fields. In his younger days, Pastor Thomas was a marathon runner and a basketball player in high school. As I closed out my interview, First Lady Vonda Thomas informed me that both young ladies were very athletic and competed internationally as Cheerleaders. Pastor Thomas added that he has taught them that God can “empower them”,

“enable them”, and “equip them” to be anything they want to be and do anything they want to do, if they allowed him to lead them. Amazingly, both sisters stated that they were truly blessed and believed that they

had the best parents in the whole world. I was truly impressed by these two young ladies and I know that we will hear wonderful things about them in the very near future.

In The Love Corner By Stevie T LOVE SHOULD BE WONDERFUL Hey lovers and want to be lovers. I don’t take that lightly, there are some people desperately looking or seeking Love. Do you have any friends that feel this way? Do they feel they can’t face life without someone in their lives, which sometimes spells disaster? Women and a select group of men can be so desperate that they put their children and even themselves last. It so important that these men and women are in a relationship, they make poor decisions when it comes to choosing a mate. A partner is supposed to complement you not plummet you, if you know what I mean. Love causes the nicest and most loving person to take abuse that is not normal in any relationship it happens every day, and even leads to the loss of life or the abuse of the children. If you know someone in that type of situation try to help them or help them get some type of help before it is too late. Love should be wonderful thing especially when it is clicking on all cylinders. Let’s think of our relationship as a car. A car needs regular maintenance, or it will eventually break down. I think if some of us took care of their relationship like we do our vehicles, your significant others would love you to death, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Here’s the scenario, you take your car to the car wash clean it up real good. You take a special pride in your automobile, and then you take it out that night to show it off. The same could and should apply to your mate. Try it sometimes. The person you are with wants to feel important, and

want you take them out from time to time and be shown off, it’s just human nature, or should I say woman’s nature. KCOH has changed ownership and frequency. We can now be heard on 1230am and of course we are a 24 hour station so check us out and tell a friend. The Passion Zone comes on nightly at 9pm and I am still on Monday thru Friday from 7 til midnight. The phone number has also changed to 713 526 1230, but the address is the same in case you like to mail me a letter, it is 5011 Almeda, Houston Texas, 77004. You can also reach me on Facebook at Stevie GoodTime T. I am currently working on my twitter account, just trying to keep up with the times. The top love songs for the month are 1 Just Say Yes The Whispers 2 It’s You That I Need Enchantment 3 Our Love Natalie Cole 4 So Amazing Luther Vandross and 5 Get Here Oletha Adams. Make sure you join KCOH for Big Fridays, at the Avani Longe at 5711 Hillcroft at Harwin, live bands DJ’s and more that’s Fridays at the Avani Lounge. You also can Join me May 10th at Brady’s Landing for a Big Networking party, please come out and support me. So until next time keep a little love in your heart, the look of love in your eyes, and don’t let a day go bye without telling someone you love them, even if that someone is you.

TABLE FOR ONE Lisa Smith

Tip # 9 Perfecting time simply does not exist. I've realized that the PERFECT time is now. This month I challenge you to not put off another day waiting for the right conditions to do things that you've dreamed of.

Waiting often means you are procrastinating and simply adding to your list of excuses. Whether it is an exotic vacation or simply dabbing on your most expensive cologne every day.

We often find ourselves waiting either for the right mate, or for our finances to reach an amount that will land us on the cover of Fortune 500 magazine. Although both of those scenarios are ideal, if that's not quite where you are at this moment, it should in no way stop you from going out and doing things that you've dreamed of.

possible. Some things may take some planning, while other things might start with wearing your best outfit not just for a special occasion but just to simply make you feel special.

Finances most often are a factor in most things but if you plan, save and above all believe you can and will do it, all things are

add... Lets just instead replace that with: Today I'm putting a down payment on my dream vacation Today I'm going out to dinner and having steak and lobster (one of personal faves) Today I'm going to pursue my dream "Don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect".

The Way I See It By BIG John Chandler SECURITY NOW A MAJOR PART OF SPORTS Never and I do mean never would I imagine seeing a major city in our country in a lockdown mode but that happened I Boston Friday April 19, 2013. Both of the suspects in the Boston Marathon Bombing were being sought in Boston as city residents were instructed to remain indoors. I thought about the bombing all week as the nation watched the terror of the citizens of Boston grip with had happened. We must face the fact that security around sporting events, even local sporting events will change even more so. Never would I have thought that innocent people enjoying a fun-loving event like the Boston Marathon would face the assault that took place Monday April 15, 2013. Let’s take a look at what we be facing: 1. Expect even more searches before entering stadiums-Just a minute Big John; I will be searched to go to a high school game? Yes I think a search of fans will be something that will be announced in the very near future. Millions of fans attend high school and youth athletic games around the country. Terror groups love to target events that draw huge crowds and trust me they will likely set their sights on athletic events where large numbers of people will be. We must be prepared to arrive early at games and await the searches before entering the stadium.

2. Look for increased security checks entering the parking lot-This is something that has to happen. We must become aware of strange vehicles and the patrons that arrive in them. Security will limit where fans can park and will remove vehicles that park illegally. Cars will be towed if needed, so again arrive early and park in a good spot. 3. Expect to see more security around the stadium-You will soon see more security patrolling stadiums. They will inform fans to find a seat, and will be watching fans as the move around during the game. Let’s face it; young fans like to chit/chat with their friends, interact with other fans beside watch the game (we were young many years ago and did the same thing). They should still be allowed to do that-it’s part of growing up and become mature adults. But safety is priority #1 and we can never forget that. What happened in Boston is a reminder that in a split second, lives can be changed forever! 4. Quick exit after the gameFans will be encouraged to leave the stadium once the contest ends. By moving people out of the parking lot, security can patrol the area and ensure the safety of the teams and other personnel around the facility. Terrorist would love to plant

explosives especially when the stadium area is clear. Security staff can patrol without dealing with fans that simply don’t want to leave.

I understand many of you may feel that all this ‘extra security’ is unnecessary and a big waste of time. I felt like that at many events I have attended and just kept saying to myself ‘we’re not

in a war zone; why do we have to go thru this?’ But the events during the week of 4/15/13 4/19/13 changed my thoughts. We can’t allow people that hate us make us afraid to live our lives and enjoy the many things GOD has provided for us. We must remember to push safety as our top priority and be ‘our brother’s keeper’. I listened to my song from Wilton Felder and

Bobby Womack and the classic line encouraged me even more; ‘IF YOU CAN KEEP YOUR HEAD WHILE OTHERS AROUND ARE LOSING THEIRS, YOU CAN I HERIT THE WI D’ We are going forward. That’s just the way I see it!

WHAT IS TRUTH? EXTREMIST BY CHRIST THROUGH HIS APOSTLES Dear reader, if we study our Bibles, we will find that Christ, and those that followed him suffered many things. They were thought of as drunks (Acts 2:115), foolish men (Matt.11:2527; John7:14-17; Acts 4:10-13; 1Cor.4:9-16), weaklings (1Cor.1:18-31; 2Cor.10:1-10; 11:21-30; 13:1-14), and even a CULT, see sect: Acts 24:1 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul. 2 And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence, 3 We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. 4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words. 5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the (1)sect of the (2) azarenes: (KJV) Definitions: (1)sect of the-139 hairesis (hah’-ee-res-is); from 138; properly, a choice, i.e. (specially) a party or (abstractly) disunion 4) a body of men following their own tenets (sect or party) c) used of the Christians 5) dissensions arising from a diversity of opinions and aims KJV— heresy [which is the Greek word itself], sect. (2)nazarenes-3480 Nazoraios (nad-zo-rah’-yos); from 3478; a Nazoraean, i.e. inhabitant of Nazareth; by extension, a Christian, Nazarite = “one separated”; 2) a title given to Jesus in the New Testament 3) a name given to Christians by the Jews, Acts 24:5: KJV— Nazarene, of Nazareth. According to the Scriptures sufferings are appointed unto Christians. We believe these SUFFERINGS though are just the tip of the iceberg, and that the whole iceberg is to keep ourselves UNSPOTTED from the WORLD! James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself (1)unspotted from the (2)world. (KJV) Definitions: unspotted -784 aspilos-1) spotless 2) metaphorically, a) free from censure, irreproachable b) free from vice, unsullied. world -2889 kosmos-1) an apt and harmonious arrangement or constitution,

order, government 3) the world, the universe 4) the circle of the earth, the earth 5) the inhabitants of the earth, men, the human race 6) the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ 7) world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc., which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ. We believe for CHRISTIANS to accomplish being unspotted from the world, we MUST be: ADDICTS, EXTREMISTS, and ZEALOTS, according to SCRIPTURE. 1 Cor 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have ADDICTED themselves to the ministry of the saints,) 16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth. Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and (1)purify unto himself a (2)peculiar people, (3)zealous of good works. (2) peculiar4041 periousios (per-ee-oo’-seeos; from the present participle feminine of a compound of 4012 and 1510; being beyond usual, i.e. special (one’s own): KJV— peculiar. Ex·trem·ist (¹kstr¶“m¹st) n. One who advocates or resorts to measures beyond the norm. (3)zealous of good works-2207 zelotes (dzay-lotace’); from 2206; a “zealot“1) one burning with zeal, a zealot 2) used of God as jealous of any rival and sternly vindicating his control 3) most eagerly desirous of, zealous for, a thing a) to acquire a thing, (zealous of) b) to defend and uphold a thing, vehemently contending for a thing: KJV— zealous. Christians cannot, must not give in, but hold to the Faith, not a

faith (Eph.4:1-6) I ALL THI GS (1Cor.11:1-3); just as the examples before us are WRITTEN. We must suffer these and many other things on this earth, because this world has been delivered unto Satan, by GOD. (Luke 4:5&6; 2Cor.4:1-6; Eph.2:2-3; 6:1014; Rev.12:7-13; Rev.13:6-9). The whole world (1)LIETH in wickedness (1John5:19) Definition: (1)the whole world LIETH-2749 keimai (ki’mahee); middle voice of a primary verb; to lie outstretched (literally or figuratively), b) used of one buried 2) metaphorically: a) to be (by God’s intent) set,, that is, destined, appointed c) lies in the power of the Evil One, that is, is held in subjection by the Devil: KJV— be (appointed, laid up, made, set), lay, lie Christians MUST be SUBJECT unto ALL HIGHER POWERS of this WORLD, (Rom.13:1-5; 1Tim.2:1-7; Titus3:1-3) for CHRIST’S sake (1Pet.2:1-25), that is as long as they are NOT contrary to CHRIST, (Eph.5:2433; Col.1:12-20 and 3:1-4). But, to live in this world and strive not to have anything to do with its higher educational systems, political systems, sports, and or its traditions, is definitely a SUFFERING; thereby following the example of the Lord Jesus and his apostles. After all, ALL these things existed when they were on earth, and there are NO examples of their participation IN such. For, this helps in keeping one unspotted from the world, and probably seems extreme to the carnal, fleshly, secular mind (read Rom.12:1031; 1Cor.1:18-31; 3:1-23; Phil.3:1-21; Col.2:1-12; 2Tim.2:1-16; James4:1-17 and 5:1-12. A Christian’s duty on this earth is to do the will (work) of God, through Christ Jesus and his apostles; not the will and traditions of men, POLITICS being one of many. For a Christian’s conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, please read; Phil 3: 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) 20 For our (1)conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (I HEAVE ) Please read; John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. I Jn 2:15 Love not the (1)world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever; 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. WHAT IS TRUTH? EXTREMIST BY CHRIST THROUGH HIS APOSTLES 6) the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ 7) world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc., which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ. See also (Luke 16:13; John 15:19; 2Cor.5:17; Eph.2:10; Col.3:14; 3:10; 1Tim.6:3-12; James 4:4; 1John 4:4-6). This SPIRITUAL MIND SET will make us the STRANGERS, SOJOURNERS and PECULIAR people in this world, that CHRISTIA S MUST be, according to scriptures, please read (1Pet.1:1-25; 1Pet. 2:1112; Titus 2:12-15; 1Pet. 2:9). We must remember The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but we MUST repent, “have a change of mind”, (2Pet.3:9). His will is NOT for Christians to be FRIENDS of the world (2Cor.6:14-18; James4:4), but to be the (1)SALT of the Earth thereby being the LIGHT of the WORLD(Matt.5:13-16; Eph.5:8-17; Phil.2:15-16; 1Thes.5:4-8), by suffering to DENY ourselves by following him, through his apostle’s doctrine (Acts1:1-4; Acts2:41-42; 1John1:1-10 and 2:1-6); Please read Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him (2) deny himself, and take up his (3)cross daily, and (4)follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. Definitions: (1)salt-217 halas (hal’-as);from 251; salt; figuratively, prudence, Having or exhibiting sound judgment; Careful about one’s conduct; circumspect.: KJV— salt. (2)deny himself-720 arneomai (ar-neh’-om-ahee); perhaps from 1 (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of 4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, abnegate, a) to disregard one’s own interests b) to act entirely unlike himself 4) not to accept, to reject, to refuse something offered: KJV— deny,

(4)follow me-190 akoloutheo (ak-ol-ootheh’-o); from 1 (as a particle of union) and keleuthos (a road); properly, to be in the same way with, i.e. to accompany (specially, as a disciple), 1) to follow one who precedes, join him as his attendant, accompany him 2) to join one as a disciple, become or be his disciple: to side with his party: KJV— follow, reach. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (KJV) Phil 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (KJV) II Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren,

stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. (KJV) 1 Cor 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. 11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. (KJV) 1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 2 Cor 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:(KJV) I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.(KJV) 2 Cor 10:5 ... down imaginations, (KJV) Luke 1:51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. (KJV) Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that (1)thou hast hid these things from the (2)wise and (3)prudent, and (4)hast revealed them (5)unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.(KJV) Definitions: (1)thou hast hid these things-613 apokrupto (apok-roop’-to); from 575 and 2928; to conceal away (i.e. fully); figuratively, to keep secret: KJV— hide. (2) from the wise-4680 sophos-wise: a) skilled, expert: of artificers b) wise, skilled in letters, cultivated, learned 1) used of the Greek philosophers and orators. (3)prudent-4908 sunetos-intelligent, having understanding, wise, learned. (4)hast revealed601 apokalupto-1) to uncover, to lay open what has been veiled or covered up, to disclose, to make bare 2) to make known, to make manifest, to disclose what before was unknown. (5)unto babes-3516 nepios (nay’-peeos); from an obsolete particle ne- (implying negation) and 2031; not speaking, i.e. an infant (minor); figuratively, a simpleminded person, an immature Christian, 3) metaphorically: childish, untaught, unskilled: KJV— babe, child (+-ish). John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there

shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.(KJV) 1 Cor 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (KJV) 1 Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (KJV) 1 Cor 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; (KJV) 2 Cor 10:5 ... and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, (KJV) Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

WHAT IS TRUTH? EXTREMIST BY CHRIST THROUGH HIS APOSTLES 1 Cor 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (KJV)

away.

Phil 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (KJV)

II Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (KJV) James 1:9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

2 Cor 10:5 ... bringing into captivity (KJV) Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (KJV) Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (KJV) 2 Cor 10:7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.(KJV) Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. (KJV)

1 Pet 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.(KJV) 2 Cor 10:5 ... every thought to (KJV) Prov 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words. 27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live. Prov 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men. 10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. (KJV) Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (KJV) Matt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every (1)idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Definition: (1)idle-1) free from labor, at leisure 2) lazy, shunning the labor which one ought to perform Mark 7:18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. (KJV)

Rom 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. (1)Mind not (2)high things, but (3)condescend to men (4)of low estate. Be not (5)wise in your own conceits.(KJV) Definitions: (1)Mind NOT5426 phroneo (fron-eh’-o); from 5424; to exercise the mind, i.e. entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience): KJV— set the affection on, (be) care (-ful), (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, + let this) mind (-ed), regard, savour, think. God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. WHAT IS TRUTH? EXTREMIST BY CHRIST THROUGH HIS APOSTLES Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, (KJV) 1 Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the

word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (KJV) 1 Pet 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (KJV) So, the “doctrine of no suffering, because we are saved by grace (only),” is ANOTHER doctrine/gospel (Gal.1:9-10) and is False and DANGEROUS. We believe this because this doctrine is so easy and there is not much work; see 2Pet.4:17-19. So many are buying into it, even those proclaiming to be of the one true Church/ (faith). We must teach the whole council of God (Acts 20:27). We must teach the whole truth (John 17:17). The WORD teaches us that we are saved by many things; baptism doth also now save us (1Peter 3:21). We are also saved by GRACE, THROUGH FAITH (Eph.2:8) etc. We must always remember James 2:14-26…so faith without works is dead… (KJV) The question now would be, how is the one true faith (Eph.4:4-6) obtained? Read; Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV) IS JUST, HEARING GOOD ENOUGH? Read; James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and super-

(KJV) IS JUST, “BELIEVING” GOOD ENOUGH? James 2: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so

faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (KJV) So the doctrine, “Christ suffered for us, so that we don’t have to” is contrary to Scriptures. There is a SCRIPTURAL reason for the suffering that CHRISTIANS MUST do, and endure in the FLESH. According to scripture it is so that we can “CEASE from SIN, and SCARCELY be SAVED”. 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.(KJV)

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the (1)righteous (2)scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.(KJV) Definitions: (1)if the righteous1342 dikaios-righteous, observing divine laws 4) approved by or acceptable by God. (2)scarcely be saved-3433 molis (mol’-is);probably by var. for 3425; with difficulty, 2) not easily, that is, scarcely, very rarely: KJV— hardly, scarce (ly), + with much work. Dear reader, remember the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, which is false doctrine, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the preponderance of scriptures; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Thanks again for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN, and away from HELL!
