Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

TOYOTA VENZA LIMITED Fort Worth, Texas-It seems like only yesterday when Toyota introduced the new Venza. The SUV with economy in mind when built has since been one of the most practical vehicles on the road. Even with our test automobile price creeping just over 39 grand we can see why. To begin with the Venza has ample head, hip, shoulder and leg room in both front and back. The cargo space is enormous to say the least. Clearly the styling take a page for the Award Winning Camry so you know it’s on the money. Powered by a proven 3.5 Liter DOHC 24-valve V6 with VVT-I

and mated to a smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. This front wheel driven vehicle rolls on 20 inch Alloy Wheel wrapped by P245/50R 20 Tires providing a smooth yet firm ride. Fact is our trip to Fort Worth was a pleasant one and we made good time and got tremendous fuel consumption. The 19 miles in the city and 26 on the highway went easy on the pocket book as well. Throw in the fact the new Venza Limited came with electric power steering making handling a breeze. When it comes to safety the new Venza scored 5-star on driver in frontal crashes and a 4-star on

front passenger and scored 5-star on both front and back seat riders in side crashes and a 4-star in rollover with an overall score of 5-star from the NHTSA. Every since Toyota opened their plant in Georgetown, Kentucky many years ago they have cranked out some of America’s top products and the Venza has always been one of my favorites. Mainly due to the fact it sort of just right, not too big not too little. Once you are inside we are talking Camry type interior with

large easy to read gauges and large knobs for controls. Dual zone auto climate control with filter plus premium HDD navi-with Entune Apps Satellite and JBL sound system. Touch screen with backup camera AM/FM/CD with 13-speakers and lord knows that JBL gives you that Concert Hall sound. The XM radio setup gives you 90-day free trial with USB, Bluetooth phone and Music screening. A Panoramic Glass with front tilt/slide feature gives you the modern up to date interior glow while riding along the road. The

front mirrors are heated with turn signal indicators and puddle lamps along with blind spot monitor adds to the creature comforts of the new Venza. To round it off with Privacy Glass for rear side quarter and lift gate. The gate is power with a jam feature and Touch sensor door lock and unlock closes out this wonderfully crafted vehicle. In closing please allow me to add the new Venza has the standard Toyota 3-year 36,000 basic coverage and a 5-year/60,000 mile power train warranty and a 5-year unlimited mileage corrosion warranty!

HONDA ACCORD TWO-DOOR COUPE EXL FUN TO DRIVE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View It’s been a while since we had a 6-speed manual shifting automobile, but let me tell you the Honda Accord Coupe was special. This vehicle came in a crystal Black paint job and has a shining look that turned a few heads. But the thing that caught me eye right of the bat was the navigation system complete with right turn camera that shows off everything on your right once you put the right turn signal on. That is well ahead of the competition when it comes to safety. Plus the new Accord scored 5stars on all four categories in the NHTSA. That’s marks a first for us here at Behind The Wheel. Inside you have driver and front passenger Dual-stage Airbags as well as side airbags with smart Vent plus side curtains airbags and rollover sensor. Forward collision warning Vehicle Stability Assist and Ace II Body Structure rounds out this fully safe vehicle. The new Accord is final assembled in Marysville, Ohio and has 70 per cent of its parts from the United States and Canada with only 15 per cent from Japan including the transmission. Under the hood of this sleek looking two-door coupe is a proven 3.5 Liter 278 horsepower SOHC 24-valve I-VTEC V6 Earth Dreams Engine with variable cylinder management. Power rolls to the pavement on P235/45 R 18 All-Season tires on 18 X 8 inch Alloy wheels. The 6-speed manual transmission with smooth shifting gear

box allows you to take those exciting takeoffs and still have 4-wheel disc anti-locking brakes to stop this baby. Front MacPherson strut suspension rear Multi-link suspension with electric power-assisted rack and pinion steering team up with front and rear stabilizer bars to provide a super handling feel. Let me warn you it will entice you want to go real fast! Leather trimmed seats and steering wheel wraps add to a leather features that spans much further than this 33 Grand price tag on our test vehicle. When it comes to Sounds the new Accord has a 360-watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 Audio Touch Screen System with 7-speakers with steering wheel mounted controls XM Satellite radio, Bluetooth Hands Free link, SMS text messaging functionality as wells ad Pandora Internet radio interface. We are talking about up to date navi system complete with USB Audio interface as well as MP3 Auxiliary Input Jacks and the works. A 10-way driver seat with 2 memory setting as well as heated climate seats teaming with tilt telescopic steering wheel to round out the luxury features for this well-priced vehicle. Heated power door mirrors with turn indicators and expanded view driver mirrors with turn indicators closes out one of the safest vehicles on the road today! Let me say in closing all these features are standard on this vehicle and Honda throws in a full tank of fuel! Now that’s pretty hard to beat!

A King-Size View do not go where the cyclists need to be. The bike lanes on some roads are poorly maintained and littered with trash. Autos often ignore the stripes and blast their horns at bikes when they pass.

Out and About with John Engel

GHOST BIKES I drove by it for a couple of weeks wondering why a white bicycle was chained to the a post in the middle of the esplanade. My first thought was that a worker had put it there while he was on a job. But there it was for a month. I took a closer look and it was not a functional bicycle. It did not have a chain and other parts were missing. Every inch of the bike was panted white, including the tires. I saw another white bicycle a few days later at another location chained to a sign. Realizing that this was not normal I went to the web and searched for white bicycles. What I came up with was fascinating. Apparently this is a “Ghost Bike. The Ghost Bike project is several years old. Here is a quote from their web site, www.ghost bike.org: Ghost Bikes are small and somber memorials for bicyclists who are killed or hit on the street. A bicycle is painted all white and locked to a street sign near the crash site, accompanied by a small plaque. They serve as reminders of the tragedy that took place on an otherwise anonymous street corner, and as quiet statements in support of cyclists' right to safe travel. The first ghost bikes were created in St. Louis, Missouri in 2003. Currently there are over 610 ghost bikes that have since appeared in over 210 locations throughout the world. For those who create and install the memorials, the death of a fellow bicyclist hits home. We all travel the same unsafe streets and face the same risks; it could just as easily be any one of us. Each time we say we hope to never have to do it again -- but we remain committed to making these memorials as long as they are needed. The web site is out of date but the project seems very active. In Houston a number of bikes were prepared in 2013 for placement this year. Working through their Facebook presence, the local group is placing bikes all over Houston to memorialize the deaths of cyclists and increase

awareness of their presence. The project is active in dozens of countries and almost every state in our country. In Texas, however, I could only locate six cities that are involved in the project. In Houston there are currently 47 ghost bikes placed. There are another 28 proposed and 32 listed injuries. The Google map shows the location of each placed bike and a link to the newspaper account of the accident, if available. There are some notations such as the driver of the motor vehicle was not located or, in some cases, the driver was not charged for the accident. I have rode bicycles in Houston and can tell you it can be dangerous. Although bikes have the same rights as automobiles and trucks, they are often treated with no respect and seen as a nuisance by drivers. There are documented cases of cars trying to run a bike off the road or throwing objects at them. The hike and bike trails available in this town are excellent, but they

I rarely ride my bike in Houston for several reasons. One of which is it is quite dangerous at times. There are some cyclists that totally ignore the rules and ride through stop signs and red lights. The riders give all bicycle riders a bad name. There are also a large number of motorists that dislike the cyclists and some are willing to endanger the riders by passing too close or committing other unsafe acts. The roads belong to everyone and we must learn to share them. With

fuel prices at what they are, I can see the economy (and necessity) of riding when possible. Let’s all be respectful of each

Page 7

other and eliminate the need to add more Ghost Bicycles to our town.

STUDEWOOD COBRAS-P.V. CAMP WORKOUT A BIG SUCCESS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View I could actually sense the spirit of the legendary James “Bear” Bryant on the sidelines of BTW field two weeks ago. As for whatever reasons no one from the staff of the P.V. Panthers showed up for the first annual P.V. Cobras camp, but more than 150 kids got the opportunity to get some drills in. Mainly due to P.V. defensive end-linebacker James Paul Bryant and his younger brother Titus Bryant the center for the Jack Yates Lions. Both are former Studewood Cobras as well as grandsons of the late James “Bear” Bryant. If you recall Bryant coached the BTW Eagles to the state semifinals in 1968 the first predominately black school to reach the UIL finals. That team of 33 guys had 6 guys to go on to make the NFL with J.V. Cain making all-pro at Tightend with the St. Louis Cardinals. Bryant is also noted for coaching and beating Galveston Ball at Rice with more than 59 Thousand Fans in the stands. Record shows that is still the largest crowd to see a high school game in history of high school football! The Bryants took over the camp with help from George Penrice and several others from the Cobras staff it turned out great. Many of the Cobras teams were away running summer track and could not be there. But thanks to my co-worker at Con-way Freight Darrell Etherege brought out his Black Knights football

team with some 30 people as well. “King my kids are still talking about that camp they really enjoyed that, thanks for inviting us! James Paul took to the field and they paired off with each taking

some 20 or so kids and they rotated from drill to drill. It marked the first time P.V. had a chance to come face to face with the 39 year old Cobras organization. President Walter Penrice was elated. “King we thank you for getting this together and the

Cobras want to thank the Bryant brothers for helping us with these kids. Cars filled up the parking lot and the event lasted for nearly 3 hours as the temperature dropped as the evening went on.

Just seeing the smiles on the kid faces as they accepted the challenges the camp leader put them through. It was also great to see such a good turnout!

CHAMP BURGER CLEARLY THE BEST IN THE LONG RUN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Sometime during the Month of August, Champ Burger will reach 51 years of outstanding services to Houston, Texas. It all started when Michael Saladino and his father decided to take this family homestead and turn it into a Hamburger store. Saladino made it clear he wanted to go to work and please his customers. They still operate the same way today. Michael’s son Chris Saladino now runs the business and we spoke with him. “King we’ve been on this corner (304 Sampson at Garrow) for a very long time, but my Dad had one thing in mind that is to please our customers by selling fresh quality Burgers and all the trimmings at a fair market price”. Chris went on to say he simply goes to work with that in mind each day and carries out

his father wishes to make Champ Burger the best it can be. “King we are not trying to change things we are simply going to work each day and if you get there early enough you will see the Bread man coming to bring fresh bread each morning, the same hold truth for the meat and eggs and all our food comes in daily”. One of the things we like best about Champ Burger is they have the grille right in front so you can see your Burger or Double Decker sandwich being made to your order. “Funny you mention that King because people sometimes so I want mayo and no mustard or give me a couple more pickles”. With a very able staff Chris and the gang are their bright and early (7.00 AM) each morning Monday-Friday Until closing time at 4.30 PM you get your

order swiftly and well made to your specifications! Israez Ramirez and Janie Adame have more than 24 years and Marie Orta has over 20 years. “We just try to do the right thing and take care of the people who come to see us. Fact is the Houston Police, Mailmen, Truck Drivers, Ambulance Drivers, Bus Drivers, Harris County Sheriff and most of his Deputies are regulars at Champ Burger. Breakfast with Double Decker sandwiches as well as breakfast tacos starts the day. By the time lunch time roll around you are offered fresh garden salads and every kind of Burger baskets as well as their world famous Texas Size Steak Sandwich. Fact is that’s my favorite and it bring back memories for me. It all started in 1973 when I first begin driving trucks, we were with Dixie Truck Lines in the old Herrin Transportation building at 911 Bastrop. That building it gone now it’s the media parking for BBVA Stadium. Drivers from Red Arrow and

Merchant were sitting around trying to figure out what to have for lunch. It was then Sylvester (Big Grip) Armstrong suggested Champ Burger. He told me to bring him a Steak Sandwich and man I got one for myself. It was also the first time I had that large coke float. That was in July of 1973 and I’m still in love with the Steak Sandwich with cheese. When we told Chris about this he laughed and said you are living proof of what we’ve been doing here all these years. He went on to say that’s all we want to do is keep serving people. Champ Burger has a rich tradition and I recall City Councilman Ben Reyes and the late Congressman George “Mickey” Leland met at Champ Burger started a Black and Brown coalition helping bring Houston Blacks and Hispanics together. By the way we know for a Fact Mickey loved that Steak Sandwich as well. We could go and on but the best

way for you to find out is to visit Champ Burger and see for yourself. They are located between Harrisburg and Canal at 304 Sampson or simply call in your order at (713) 227-7737. Be sure and see their full menu in this edition or simply visit www.champburger.net for more information. Take it from the King, there are plenty of Burger joints in Houston, but Champ Burger is Still Champion.

I'M GOOD

We defend ourselves against being vulnerable. When asked how things are going we use the small but effective tool known as "I'm Good". This is an often used trick to help us through our everyday self proclaimed woes. The theory is, if we say "I'm Good" we will be ok. The problem is, however, if we convince someone that we are ok and we are not, we are then treated like we are ok. The danger in this is that we become isolated even

around our loved ones because they have no idea about what's going on in our head. The fact is that we all have issues daily. Some issues take us to the breaking point and some don't. It doesn't matter how much money, power, or respect you have there are times when we just need a helping hand. "I'm good" without explanation could speak to some sort of lack or avoidance. The mere fact that we could as friends accept this

as an answer from our friends, without question, is just a testament to how far our concentration on ourselves has taking away from the overall humanity our past generations took pride in. The effect is that we would rather tell millions of strangers on the internet about our issues rather than tell our friends or the ones that offended us. We shouldn't waste time trying to figure out why but rather how can we be a better friends, leaders, and parents today and it starts with holding each other accountable in love. Did you know? To help someone is just as rewarding to the helper as it is the one being helped? Don't deprive someone close to you the chance to help.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK MARQUE COLEMAN: VICTORY PREP While covering the Studewood Cobras-P.V. football camp we ran into superstar player Marque Coleman of the Black Knights visiting team. The 7th grader is at Victory Prep School on Jensen and is an A and B Student with math as his favorite subject. He says mainly it has always came easy to come but he love reading in class as well. Marque is the son of Tasha Francis and Kasey Justice and on Sundays you’ll find him over at North side Baptist Church. He says it a great way to start the week and he enjoys the services very much. Giving the school spirit at Victory Prep an 8 and one half

on a scale of 1-10 adding he would like to see more students get involved. With a desire to play in the NFL someday Marque says helping his family and his community will be his top priority if he makes the big time. “Guys in the NFL have an excellent opportunity to help the community and if I’m there that’s a exactly what I will be doing”. When asked if he would change anything at Victory Prep if they put him in charge, Marque thought for a minute and then said things are ran pretty well and he would not change anything. Crediting his mother as his most driving force Marque says his mother expects the best from him and holds him to it. “It’s like if I don’t make A and B grades I won’t be able to play football so you know I’m going to get my work done”. Fact is since he has been playing organized sports he had never lost a game. The starting defensive back and receiver also plays backup QB for the Knights as was last year’s MVP in the Super Bowl. We added the LeBron James question and Marque appeared to be excited. “Yes sir LeBron is my favorite NBA player and yes it great he went back to Cleveland because he will be

able to help Irwin and those players reach the championship”. Marque went on to say James learned what it takes to be a Champion when he led Miami

to four straight NBA Championship series going 2 and 2. In closing Marque describes himself as smart, athletic and

positive and a very hard worker! After seeing him go through the drills we agree!

WHAT IS TRUTH? GOD HATH CHOSEN! Dear reader, have you ever wondered why there are so many religious leaders teaching PROSPERITY in this world? Is it because of some personal agenda? 1 Tim 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, (1)supposing that (2)gain is godliness: from such (3)withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 2 Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through(4)covetousness shall they with (5)feigned words (6)make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

We know not what their agendas are, but we know the Lord loves us and has but one agenda; “2 Pet 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to (1)repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy (1)conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” Definitions: (1) all should come to repentance-3341 metanoia (met-an’-oy-ah); from 3340; (subjectively) compunction (for guilt, including reformation); by implication reversal (of [another’s] decision), a change of mind (heart): KJV— repentance. (2)all holy conversation-391 anastrophe (an-as-trof-ay’); from 390; manner of life, conduct, behavior, deportment: KJV— conversation. There are so many warnings in the apostle’s doctrine, against; being conformed to this WORLD (Rom.12:1-2), loving this world and the things that are in it (1John2:15-17), loving our life here (John12:25-26), minding HIGH things (Rom.12:16), or EARTHLY, TEMPORAL, (SECULAR) things (Phil.3:16-20; Col.3:1-4; 2Cor.4:18; 5:16)? The Lord warns us, that HE HAVE NOT CHOSEN these things. We believe by scripture these warnings are given by GOD through CHRIST and his apostles, to the Church that Christ is building and is the HEAD of. If we profess to be of Christ and have been baptized into Christ according to the scriptural pattern, thereby putting on Christ, we MUST heed these warnings, to be right (righteous) with GOD. Lord willing for this month and next, we will attempt

by scripture, to study in depth the things GOD HATH CHOSEN, thereby understanding the things He have not chosen and to close with WHY. Remember, the purpose of these articles is to share with you some scriptural truths, thereby exposing error, as we search for “What is Truth”. Again, we believe through the preponderance of scripture (which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture) and definitions on any topic, allows scripture to interpret scripture. This should also allow for a better understanding on that topic. Please get your bible and follow this study; The Lesson: GOD HATH CHOSE ! 1 Cor 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your (1)calling, brethren, how that not many (2)wise men after the (3)flesh, not many (4)mighty, not many (5)noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And (6)base things of the (7)world, and things which are (8)despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should (9)glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and (10)righteousness, and (11)sanctification, and (12)redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.(KJV)

(KJV) Isa 29:19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (KJV) Zeph 3:12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD. (KJV) Matt 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And

going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. (KJV) Matt 9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. (KJV)

Matt 21:1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an (1)ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.(KJV) Definitions: (1)an ass-3688 onos (on’-os); apparently a primary word; a donkey: KJV— an ass. Dear reader, think about it, if GOD had chosen a chariot or men bearers for His Son the King, do we not think that, that is exactly what he would have had? He did not have it simply because his Father did not choose it. This was done for an example for those of Christ to follow, MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS. Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, (1)let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself (2)of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

CONT. GOD HATH CHOSEN! Definitions:(1)let him deny himself-720 arneomai (ar-neh’om-ahee); perhaps from 1 (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of 4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, abnegate a) to disregard one’s own interests b) to act entirely unlike himself, to refuse something offered: KJV— deny, refuse…. (2)of no reputation-2758 kenoo (ken-o’-o); from 2756; to make empty, i.e. (figuratively) to abase, neutralize; used of Christ: he laid aside equality with or the form of God: KJV— make (of none effect, of no reputation, void). Luke 2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a (1)manger; because there was no room for them in (2)the inn.(KJV) Definitions:(1)manger-5336 phatne (fat’-nay);from pateomai (to eat); a crib (for fodder) A trough or an open box in which feed for livestock is placed: KJV— manager, stall……(2)the inn-2646 kataluma (kat-al’-oomah); from 2647; properly, a dissolution (breaking up of a journey), i.e. (by implication) a lodging-place1) an inn, lodging place 2) an eating room, dining room: KJV— guestchamber, inn. Again, think about it, if GOD had chosen an Inn for His Son, the King, to be born in, do we not think He would have made room in the Inn. He was born in a feed trough simply because his Father chose not the Inn, but the feed trough. Again this was for an example for those of Christ to follow, MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS. It is so strange how we miss the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus. Jesus explained how we error; “Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Note also what the Lord and savior said “Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. He practiced what he preached didn’t he; then those that proclaim to belong to Christ MUST also follow him, and PRACTICE what HE PREACHED through his apostles. 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That

he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. Luke 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. The Son of man, The KING, The Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST had NOT where to lay His head because, his Father did not CHOOSE it. But, rather chose a SUFFERING LIFESTYLE (see Isaiah 53:112) of MEEKNESS and HUMBLENESS, for His Son and he OBEYED unto death; even the death of the cross. “Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” “ Phil 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;” Dear reader, please LISTEN again to what CHRIST said, so we will know what God Hath Chosen; “Matt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” “Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.” “ Mark 9:43 And if thy hand (1)offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast

into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Definition:(1)offend thee-4624 skandalizo (skan-dal-id’-zo) (“scandalize”); from 4625; to entrap, i.e. trip up (figuratively, stumble [transitively] or to entice to sin, apostasy or displeasure) b) to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and OBEY 1) to cause to fall away: KJV— (make to) offend. Again those that profess to be in Christ; (Gal 3:27 For as many of you as (1)have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.), have been warned NOT to love the world, neither the things that are in it. We MUST conclude according to scripture, it is because God hath NOT chosen it and neither it’s WISDOM. Definition:(1)have been baptized into-907 baptizo (bap-tid’zo); from a derivative of 911; to immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. T.) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: KJV— Baptist, baptize, wash. Isa 29:14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. (KJV) Matt 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and (1)prudent, and hast revealed them (2)unto babes. (KJV) Definitions:(1)Prudent-4908 sunetos-intelligent, having understanding, wise, learned….(2)unto babes-3516 nepios (nay’-pee-os); from an obsolete particle ne- (implying negation) and 2031; not speaking, i.e. an infant (minor); figuratively, a simple-minded person, an immature Christian: KJV— babe, child (+-ish). Matt 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? (KJV) Acts 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were (1)unlearned and (2)ignorant men, they marvelled; and (3)they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

Definitions:(1)that they were unlearned-62 agrammatos (agram-mat-os); from 1 (as negative particle) and 1121; unlettered, i.e. illiterate: KJV— unlearned. (2) and ignorant men 2399 idiotes (id-ee-o’-tace); from 2398; a private person, i.e. (by implication) an ignoramus (compare “idiot”), 4) in the New Testament, an unlearned, illiterate man as opposed to the learned and educated: one who is unskilled in any art: KJV— ignorant, rude, unlearned. (3)they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus-1921 epiginosko (ep-igin-oce’-ko); from 1909 and 1097; to know upon some mark, i.e. recognize; by implication, to become fully acquainted with, to acknowledge, 1) to become thoroughly acquainted with, to know thoroughly, to know accurately, to know well 2) to know a) to recognize by sight, hearing; used of certain signs, to perceive who a person is: KJV— (ac-, have, take) know (-ledge, well), perceive.

1 Cor 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:(KJV)

Acts 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. 9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to (1)resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Definition:(1)Resist the wisdom -436 anthistemi (anth-is’-taymee);from 473 and 2476; to stand against, i.e. oppose: KJV— resist, withstand. Acts 17:18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. (KJV) Acts 24:24 And after certain days, when (1)Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a

1 Cor 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; (KJV) Please note; according to scripture God Hath Chosen base things of the world, rather than high things, the POOR that love and obey Him, rather than CARNAL PROSPERITY, things which are DESPISED, rather than things that are highly thought of and liked in this world. So, who are we going to believe man or GOD? 1 Cor 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: Eccl 5:10 He that (1)loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also (2)vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.(KJV)

Existing or lasting only a short time; short-lived or temporary. Isa 2:11 The (1)lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the (2)haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. (KJV) Definitions:(1)lofty looks of man-1365 gabhuwth (gabhooth’); from 1361; pride: KJV— loftiness, lofty. (2)haughtiness of men-7312 ruwm (room); from 7311; (literally) elevation or (figuratively) elation: KJV— haughtiness, height, X high. Isa 2:17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. (KJV) Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.(KJV) Mark 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.(KJV) Luke 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he

was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (see also Matt 19:23-25- Mark 10:23-27) 1 Cor 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. 11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.(KJV) 2 Cor 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;(KJV) 2 Cor 10:10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech (1)contemptible. (KJV) Definition:(1)Contemptible1848 exoutheneo (ex-oo-theneh’-o);a variation of 1847 and meaning the same: KJV— contemptible, despise, least esteemed, set at nought. 2 Cor 12:11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.(KJV) Gal 4:13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.

14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. 15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. 16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? (KJV) Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.(KJV) James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised (1)to them that love him? TO THEM THAT LOVE HIM-“I Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (See also 2Peter 3:1-2) James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with (1)meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the (2)truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is (3)earthly, sensual, devilish.(KJV)

Dear readers remember as always, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the O LY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect, 2Tim.3:12-17!
