Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

GRAND CHEROKEE SUMMIT 4 X 4 DIESEL Dallas, Texas-Here we go again just me and longtime family friend Thomas Walker and I made the trip to Dallas. This time we were rolling behind the wheel of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4 X 4 Eco Diesel. To start with this new 3.0 Liter V6 Eco Diesel moved to the tune of 28 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 miles per gallon in the city. Yet this baby got in and out of Dallas Metro-Plex traffic when it had too. But the 8-speed HP 70 transmission made for some smooth shifting and saving you some diesel when it counted the most. Please don’t mistake this for the old Jeep, because this baby is larger and much more stylist of any Jeep in History. That bold vertical grille gives it an aggres-

sive stance and its 4 by 4 stylist look remains but is more refined into a more top of the line luxury look as well. Fact is our new test vehicle came in at just over 57 Grand, but let me tell you after making this trip we found it to live up to it’s billing and then some. Just right off the bat you know when you see the Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat Paint exterior and Grand Canyon Jeep Brown Interior you know you are looking at the top of the line. Another thing about the new Jeep is its home grown with 63 per cent of its part from the United States and Canada with only 17 percent from Mexico. The final assembly point is good old’ Detroit, Michigan but the engine is built in Italy and the

transmission in Germany. Warranties for the new Jeep is 5-year/100,000-mile power train limited warranty with a 3-year or 36,000 mile Basic Limited Warranty plus 5-year or 100,000 mile roadside Assistance (Certain restriction apply), please see your local Jeep dealer for details. The overall ride of the new Jeep is enhanced by Quadra TracII@4WD system and Selec-terrain system and Quadra lift air suspension. Safety stands out with advanced multi-stage front airbags, supplemental side curtain front and rear airbags and driver inflatable knee bolster airbags. Park View rear back-up camera. Did we say enough or should we go on to add blind spot and rear cross path protection, along with forward collision warning with crash mitigation. We could go on to add keyless Enter N Go and Hill start assist. Once you are inside the new Jeep Cherokee Summit you are greeted with heated front and second row seats. Ventilated front seats, power 8-way driver and front passenger seat with memory. The A C auto tempera-

ture control with dual zone control and a 7-inch multi-view display to follow it all. Sure sounds come from a Uconnect 8.4AN AM/FM/BT/Access/Nav and 19-premium speakers including subwoofer, we are talking about concern Hall sounds. Even the steering wheel is heated as well and wood/leather wrapped with paddle shift control. All of this is rolling right along on 20-Inch X 8.0 inch aluminum polished

wheels and P255/50R20 BSW All-Season tires. I think this is a good point to stop because I’m now wanting to keep this vehicle for good. Please allow me to add in closing the Customer Preferred Package 22R includes an 800Amp Maintenance Free Battery and Anti-lock 4-wheel disc heavy duty brakes to stop this baby in nothing flat. Lets just leave it at that for now.

Just in case you haven’t been down to the Port of Houston lately man, they are rolling off the boats in big number. The German auto maker is also reporting record sales these days. The new Tiguan SE we test drove came equipped with a 2.0 Liter TSI Turbocharged 200 horsepower engine that produces 207 pounds per feet of torque with this in-line four cylinder direct injection engine. This four banger cranks out 26 miles on the highway and 21 in the city. Man let me tell you it has some pep to go along with some new styling. Our test vehicle came in a Deep Black Metallic Exterior with a Black Leatherette Interior. With 61 percent of its parts from Germany as well as the final assembly point in Wolfsburg, Germany. The new Tiguan has only 1 per cent of its parts from the US/Canadian and clearly is grown overseas. This front wheel drive small sport utility vehicle came with 17 inch alloy wheels and all-season tires. Anti-locking brakes with front disc and rear drums stops the new Tiguan and an

electronic stabilization Control system makes is handles with best in class. Yes it also has a tire pressure monitoring system and front and side air bags. Sounds came from a AM/FM radio with CD player plus media device interface with Blue tooth Connectivity and more. TOYOTA NEW COROLLA LE PLUS A REAL DEAL By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Waco, Texas - Making the trip up to central Texas Dr. Victor Keys and I went to pay our respects and cover the funeral services of the legendary Promoter Quincy Harris. Making 181 mile trip behind the wheel of the new Toyota Corolla LE Plus was an added pleasure on what was basically a sad occasion. The New Corolla LE Plus used its 1.8 Liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-Valve Dual VVTI to crank out 38 miles per gallon on the highway and 29 in the city. This trip ended just 2 miles off the main highway so we got away with all road driving and didn’t need to add fuel coming nor going back home. Let’s talk about that for a while, now we are talking about nearly 4 hundred miles round trip and with today’s fuel cost that’s truly a gas saver. Clearly Toyota really took their time and restyled this unit with more leg room, head room and shoulder room as

well as more room in the back seat. Four full-size adults were able to sit comfortably in this vehicle on this trip. With auto prices getting higher year by year it is rewarding to know Toyota has a quality product on the market that is affordable and yet comfortable. Lets face it our test vehicle was fully equipped and came is at $21,870. Drop a few options and we are talking an unheard of 18 Grand or so. Come on when was the last time you seen this kind of value in a solid well

built unit from Toyota Plant it Tupelo Mississippi. Take a look at some of the options on this unit. We are talking sliding moon roof with sun shade , back up camera, Bluetooth connectivity, Satellite radio and the works. A good quality sounding CD player allowed us to hear the newly Released Ernie Johnson Blues CD (Ernie Johnson Sings The Blues). Moving over the safety for the new Corolla LE plus we are talking about eight air bags

including driver knee bags, passenger seat cushion air bags as well as front and rear side curtain airbags. Plenty of trunk space to along

with some free new styling, I would have to say the new Toyota Corolla LE Plus is a honey of a deal!

RISING STARS: BRANDON GREEN - NORTH SHORE - KERWIN ROACH - NORTH SHORE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View

Brandon Green (5) point guard of orth Shore scored 11 points in title game as Mustangs wins state title

BRA DO GREE ORTH SHORE

Austin, Texas-Senior guard Brandon Green helped his father’s North Shore Mustangs to a state title as they whipped Converse Judson 57-45. The 6 foot 2 inch guard who sat out last season said it was rough seeing his team play with out him. “It was rough for me to see my dad work so hard as the coach of our team and I had to sat out but once this year started we wanted to win it for him”. Well they did taking 35 of 38 games including the big win over the number one ranked Judson in the title game. Brandon had 11 points 2 assists and 3 rebounds in the win. “This the best feeling I’ve had in my life and this brings great joy to my heart”. Playing a close game to Manvel helped to build the Mustangs confidence. One of the few players who could actually make a reverse layout more than once in the game. “Ha Ha I learned that from my Dad along with several other moves to helped me as a

player”. Green closed by saying the preseason set the tone of them and their coaches convinced them it could work out for us if we just work hard and follow their rules. KERWI ROACH ORTH SHORE

Austin, Texas-Junior forward Kerwin Roach played a super game in the class 5A title match up with Converse Judson. He scored 15 points and hauled in 6 rebounds had 3 steals and dished

out one assist in the big victory. Helping Jarrey Foster control the boards when the game was on the line Roach had a lot to do with the win. “I know on yesterday I didn’t play that well so I knew we had to leave it all on the floor if we wanted to win it”. Roach went on to say he feels Judson had some real good shooters and they had a pretty good inside game as well. He added he feels if they can get a few new players they could very well come back to state again next season. “Our defense really

helped us get this win and our game plan was to apply pressure and see how they handle it. Well 18 turnovers for Judson so Roach said they didn’t handle it very well!

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS RUN IN JOHNSON FAMILY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-If you are a Johnson state championships just run in the family. While in Austin to cover the boys state championship weekend we ran into basketball legend Goree Johnson. The state championship winner from Dallas Kimball was in town to watch two of his sons win the state championship for the class 3A Dallas Madison and Class 4A Dallas-Kimball. Dating back to 1986 when Kimball ended the season of the Wheatley Wildcats before losing to Amarillo 68-63, but in 90 Kimball came back and beat Clear Lake 59-56. The Knights went on to win in 96 and 97 before losing to Duncanville in 99. After Goree moved into administration his son Royce took over the program. A few years later Kimball was back in the mix as they lost to Yates in 2009, but went on to

win in 2011 over La Marque and Yates in 2012. After dropping a game to Fort Bend RosenbergTerry, Kimball was back again and this time to beating Amarillo 52-37 to claim the class 4A title. Roderick Johnson led Dallas Madison to the class 3A title with a big win over Jack Yates in his first season as head coach at the South Dallas school. This mark set on March 8, 2014, when two brothers won state titles on the same day. It’s also news that they both had won state titles as players while playing for their father and yes both had sons on their state championship teams as well. Just like we said in the our column head state championships runs in the Johnson family. In talking with Goree Johnson who is the proud father of the two state championship winning sons. “Yes Diane and I are very proud of our sons and we have dinner at our house once a

Waco, Texas-While waiting to go into Carver Park Baptist Church for the Home going services for the legendary Quincy Harris, we ran into a bright kid who was also waiting. We asked if he makes good grades in school and he told me he had A and Bs with only two Cs on his report card. It was then we asked his mother to profile him as our Fiesta Student of the Week. The youngster is

Trevor McLennan a 5th grader at River Valley Intermediate school and live Math best in the classroom. The handsome lad loves to play all sports and someday hopes to play in the NFL, but added the NBA wouldn’t be bad either. In his spare time he loves to play video games and we are told he is pretty good at it. It was about that time his mom Joann McLennan made it clear

month and they always talk about that. The two teams played a fun game and Roderick Johnson led Madison past Kimball 79-76 of Royce Johnson in a the season opener for the two teams. We asked the father what was it like for waiting to see if both his sons could win a state title. “Yes I was focused on Madison and as soon as they won I turned my attention to Kimball, man it’s a wonderful thing to see both of them win it”.

ent what about that second tier, they could win with them”. In closing Coach Johnson stopped short of saying a legacy is being built by the Johnson Family of coaches, but he did say it’s find for those in the

media to say those sort of things. “That’s for you guys to say I will say we taught our sons to work hard, teach fundamentals and establish discipline and it’s paying off in state titles for both of them!

Being around basketball all his life Goree Johnson said you could very well say it’s a blood line thing because our sons came up playing in our back yard and my wife did a wonderful job of bundling them up and putting them in the car and going all the country when I was coaching, so they just seen a lot of basketball in their life time”. The strong points for Johnson family is simply discipline and fundamentals because during our four day workshop at the start of each season that’s what we talk about”. Johnson went on to add that shows on the floor when the kids play and develop the character it takes to be winners and being fundamentally sound is a big part of that”. On the subject of Historically Black Universities are missing out one some great kids in the Dallas Metro-plex as well as Metro-Houston and all across the state of Texas. “Schools like TSU and PV shouldn’t have to go out of the state to recruit and even if they can’t get the top talto us all that sports goes out the window if his grades aren’t up to par. The High B student went to say it’s awesome talking math classes and he had always loved the subject. By the way he feels the Baylor Bears are going to win the NCAA Championship. On Sundays you’ll find Trevor and his Mom down at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church where he is a junior usher. Trevor says being at church a great deal has taught him to love and praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is clearly the center of his life. Fact is we then asked if he could live his young life over again would he change anything? “No Sir I feel pretty good about the way my life has gone and certainly would do it all over again the same way”. We moved on to ask if he could

When asked about President Obama Health Care bill and the overall job the President is doing in the White House.” I think it wonderful a Black man is our President and I feel the Health Care Bill was needed because some people really do need Health Care”. In closing Trevor made it clear he’s an easy going fellow and can get along with almost anyone. He went on to say if things don’t work out for him in Pro Sports He will be happy just praising the Lord the rest of his life anyway!

Senior forward Jarrey Foster led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds as he shot 50% on 6 of 12 and made 4 of 5 free throws to seal the win. “We knew we were a bit undersized and play-

ing the number one team in the state in Converse Judson, so we had to lock up on defense and played hard”. Foster went on to say his team used their tough defense to see if Judson would crack and they did. “It’s been that way all season long and every since coach (David ) Green been here we have worked hard, but this year he put in a new defense and it worked for us”. Out and About with John Engel HISTORIC MARKER ONE MILE We’ve all seen them while driving down the road, the small green signs announcing that there is a historical marker one mile ahead. The obscure markers that these signs announce are very interesting, most of the time. What the markers represent is a one minute history lesson cast in bronze or aluminum. The Historic Marker Program is run by the Texas Historical Commission (THC). It is one of the most visible programs of the commission. Markers commemorate an extremely diverse range of topics including history, public buildings and homes of architecture interest, historic events and people who have made lasting contributions to the State of Texas. The first historical commission in Texas was in 1858. Stones gathered from the Alamo battle site were formed into a memorial for the men that died there and in the Battle of Jan Jacinto. Put on a portable base the monument traveled around our state and visited New Orleans. It was later brought to the Capitol in

Austin and was destroyed in the fire of 1881 that also destroyed the Capitol. Officially, the first state marker was dedicated to the “Dawson Men” and Mier Prisoners” and was placed at the Fayette County Courthouse to commemorate the heroes that died there during the Texas Revolution. Placed in 1884 it was made of Italian marble and placed on a limestone base. The second official marker is the “Heroes of the Alamo” and was dedicated beside the newly built Texas State Capital and placed in 1891. These events helped lead to the formation of the Texas State Library and Historical Commission in 1909. The first three monuments created by the Commission are “Come and Take It” placed in Austin in honor of Hood’s Brigade, The “Texas Heroes Monument” in Gonzales and the grave of Sam Houston in Huntsville. The current program of placing aluminum markers was started in 1936. That year alone more

Page 9

than 1000 markers were placed around the state to commemorate the 100th celebration of the Texas Revolution and the creation of the Republic of Texas. The current program has placed more than 15,000 markers in our great state. Not surprisingly, with that many markers in our state errors are occasionally found. Typos, misspellings and incorrect dates happen from time to time. When an error is discovered, the marker is placed on the list for replacement. Recently an error was discovered at the marker placed in front of the Texas Theater in Dallas. This is where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested after the shooting of John F. Kennedy. The error referred to the fact that he was arrested for the killing of the President. He was not charged with the killing until much later that day after he was apprehended. He was originally arrested for entering the theater without a ticket and acting in a suspicious manner. About 30 markers are replaced every year but not all are for errors. Some are badly worn or damaged from accidents or vandals. A replacement marker can run as much as $1800. There has even been a book dedicated to our markers. “Why

Stop?: A Guide to Texas Historical Roadside Markers” written and illustrated by Betty Dooley Aubrey in 2005. It is still available at bookstores and on Amazon in paperback. The book covers over 2500 markers in our state. Although not everyone may be interested, if you have a reason to believe you may have a subject that warrants a marker here is the process: Go to http://www.thc.state.tx.us/ and click on “Apply for A Marker”. There is a complete set of guidelines and a tool kit for the application. All applications must then go through the county involved. Churches, cemeteries and, people and events may be candidates for marker place-

ment. If you want to pursue markers by topic, location, highway or any other search criteria there is an Android app for this purpose. There is also a matching Windows database. You can look for either of these by searching www.9key.com. When traveling around the state, pull over when you see the sign and take a minute to read the marker. In Harris County there are 270 markers. You may be surprised at what you will find. When I travel I often take a break at a rest area with markers so I may learn a little about the state I love. A quick history lesson on a plaque makes a great break.

Sometimes when researching an article one thing leads to another. I found this marker which is just outside the Texas Southern Campus on Wheeler. The Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce is still a very active part of our community promoting African American Owned businesses. It was founded in 1935. Eighty years later is is still going strong. The text quoted below is straight off the marker. (Source: Harris County Historical Commission)

HOUSTO EGRO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: 2808 Wheeler St. Houston 77002 In September 1935, several prominent community leaders organized the Houston Negro Chamber of Commerce (HNCC) to empower and promote African-American businesses in the city. They focused on encouraging business within African-American communities, since Jim Crow laws prevented blacks from accessing opportunities outside of their neighborhoods. With J. E. Robinson, Sr. as its first President, it was the first successful group of this type in Houston’s black community. The office was in the black-owned Pilgrim Temple building from 1935 until moving here in 1963. The HNCC sought to promote the civic, economic, industrial agricultural and social welfare of Houston residents; encourage a larger patronage of black enterprises and practical education in the trades and arts to stimulate better business; and develop a more amicable relationship between racial groups. The organization also encouraged residents to pay their poll taxes in order to become eligible to vote, promoted fair housing and employment practices, contributed to international commerce, and held contests, better business forums, and banquets to motivate the African-American community. During World War II, their office served as a rations headquarters. A Junior Chamber was organized in 1942. The chamber also provided platforms for national leaders and partnered with government programs. Women have been actively involved in the HNCC since its formation and held offices as early as 1957. In 1964, under the leadership of Mack H. Hannah, Jr., the chamber changed its name to the Houston Citizens Chamber Of Commerce (HCCC). Today, the HCCC continues to represent the interests of and promote greater unity among the African-American business community. (2008)

THIS WEEK IN BASKETBALL-NORTH SHORE WINS CLASS 5A TITLE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-The Mustangs of Galena Park North Shore high school gallop past Converse Judson to win the class 5A title 57-45. Using the balance scoring from Jarrey Foster and Kerwin Roach who had 16 and 15 point respectfully plus the 11 from guard Brandon Green was enough. Throw in a defense that

simply would not let Judson get going and only David Wacker 13 points scored in double figures and North Shore simply shut them down all game long. Up 17-10 after one period the Mustangs were like horses in a parade just a steady trot all the way to the title. The third period broke Judson backs as North Shore turned up the heat on them holding them to only 5 points while adding 13 to the score board. With 10,432 people in the Erwin Center North Shore came home with the title for Metro-Houston.

DALLAS KIMBALL ROLLED PAST AMARILLO 52-37 to claim the class 4A title. Getting off to a slow start trialing 12-9 after one period the Knights of Dallas Kimball put the clamps on Amarillo holding them to only 7 points in the second and third periods and went to win the title. Balance scoring was the key as Jawun Evans had 16 points and Trenton Brinkley

added 15 and D’Angelo Allen rips the nets for 10 points. Derias Johnson added 5 points and 3 boards for coach Royce Johnson who led his team to the state title in three of the last four years. A crowd of 10,537 witness the Knights victory as they won for the 25th time in 32 games.

DALLAS MADISON WON THEIR THRID STATE TITLE IN A ROW BEATING JACK YATES 82-70 THIS TIME. A WELL BALANCED ATTACK WAS THE KEY As Admon Gilder led the way with 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting and Cameron Bryant rattled the rim for 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting. But it didn’t end there while Roderick Johnson added 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting as Madison connected on 49.2 per cent of their shots including 51.4 per cent in the second half. Johnathan Turner made 5 of his 9 shots and added 12 points in the win. Yates was led by J C

THE A-NOTE

Do what you say you are going to do.

If you can't do what you say you were going to do let them know.

THE "TIME" BANKING SYSTEM On a sheet of paper categorize everything that you currently spend your time on. From that list split those things into two categories: things that add value to your life and things that don't. Now estimate the time spent on the things that add value and the things that don't. This is what I call a "time" bank statement and you need to balance you account. Once you are done, just as with money, you need to budget your time.

It's never too late to start you account. Time Overdraft Protection

A "Time" savings account

Overdraft protection is a tool used to be a backup, just in case you run out of funds in your account. The bank will offer you this feature if you are creditable with their institution. The time overdraft works the same way when you run out of time people (co-workers, family members, etc.) will step in to help but you must have credibility. This is work! Any and all free time must be used to build your credibility with those around you.

Time Bank investing (The investment in people) just like commodity investments are the riskiest part of the "Time Banking System" but by far has the biggest reward. Though the investment can be done with anyone we normally tend to invest in those closest to us, our children and our relatives. The fact that you actively look for those in the biggest need and invest time in them in hopes they grow beyond your wildest dreams is a piece of your "TIME" portfolio that you

A "Time" investments Time Savings Account The principle behind saving money is to not waste more than you have, thus the principle is true with time. Money is like time in this respect; if you have money saved above and beyond what you spend, you have the ability to use it to acquire things at a later time, if you don't waste time you can use it to educate yourself in order to gain knowledge in order acquire things at a later time. Though we can't save time itself, we can use the savings account principles. A savings account is to put money in a bank in order for it to accumulate for things of value, instead of spending it on things that depreciate in value over time. If time is money, then how do we save it?

NORTH SHORE Austin, Texas-After taking three others teams to Austin coach David Green Jr. got his state championship. The McNeese State graduate had taken Kountze, Beaumont Central, Fort Bend Hightower before he and the North Shore Mustangs galloped into Austin with state title on their minds. “All year long I’ve told our guys don’t worry about being ranked 10th or 11th in the state because if we work hard we will get to see those teams in the playoffs. Sure enough it was the number ranked Converse Judson that North Shore beat for the title. “We told our guys they can’t out work us so the Mustangs won 35 of 38 games and came home the state’s class 5A championship. Green went on to say he stressed work hard on defense and good things happen from that. Having

his son Brandon come up big in the title game must have been extra icing on Green’s Championship cake. Brandon said after the championship game he truly felt great for his father who had worked so hard to get the team to Austin and to win the state title! Green is assisted by Kenneth Coleman, Gerald Dickey, Willie Gaston, Reggie Wallace and Michael Williams. DALLAS KIMBALL’S ROYCE JOHNSON LED THE KNIGHTS TO THEIR 3RD STATE TITLE IN 4 YEARS The younger son of the legendary Goree Johnson fought hard to hold back in emotions after his team beat Amarillo for the class 4A title. “This was a rough year for us and all we went through but I want to thank the UIL and Dr. Charles Breithaupt and his staff for

working this thing out”. Johnson referring to a rules infraction he unknown ally committed this year. “This team stuck together and these kids kept me strong and the Lord Blessed us with the championship”. Johnson went on to say he didn’t get to see much of his older brother Roderick Johnson Dallas Madison state championship in the morning game. “We were too busy getting ready for our game, but I’d proud of our parent Diane and Goree Johnson and we want to thank you all for covering us all these years”. Still speaking from the heart Royce went on to say it’s a honor to have so many state titles in the family but leaves that up to the media to report those sort of things. “Let me just say we didn’t come here to make this a Johnson state tournament, we just worked hard and prepared our teams to win the games we played”. Johnson is a Thomas Edison State College graduate and is assisted by Calvin Breedlove, Ryan Foppe, Brandon Hampton, Nicholas Smith and Ladarron Walker.

it’s good to know Jack Yates will be Class 5A”. Johnson said he thought that Yates would have pressed more in the early going and it took he and his staff a while to adjust to the Lions not pressing all over the court. “We had our press breakers in place from the opening quarter so it took us a while to adjust to them not pressing all over the court”. Johnson kind appeared kind of shy when asked about he and his

brother winning state titles on the same day. “I will say it an honor for us to both be here and a tribute to our family because it all because of hard work and teaching our kids to have discipline”. That’s what he got the most of his teaching work shops with his father (Goree Johnson). Johnson is assisted by Greg Chapman, Tracy Flentroy, Kriston Johnson, Ryan Kelly and Maurius Miles.

WHAT IS TRUTH? SAVED BY GRACE ONLY Dear reader, we have some deep scriptural concerns about the religious world today. It seems in today’s religious world, every one has an interpretation. Remember, the purpose of these articles is to share with you some scriptural truths, thereby exposing error, as we search for the Truth. Again, we believe through definitions and the preponderance of scripture (which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture) on any topic, allows scripture to interpret scripture. This should also allow for a better understanding on that topic. The apostle Peter warns us about private interpretations, Please read; “2 Pet 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables (which is believable error), when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” Then the apostle Peter begin to teach us why we do well to take heed of their more sure word of prophecy, Please read; “2 Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” again the apostle peter warns us of false teachers, Please read: “2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before

by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,”

Because of all the different interpretations given in the religious world today there is division; many different faiths (names), doctrines, traditions and even baptisms, if it is taught at all. If all religious teachers would hear Christ, do, and teach what he says, we would all be one in these things: all teaching and observing the same things according to the apostles’ doctrine (Matt.28:18-20;1Cor. 1:913; Eph.4:2-5). This would make us all right, “righteous” with God, but instead we are divided. Jesus is clear on how we are all to be one, and that is to believe on him through the apostle’s word (John 17:17-22). Now let’s look at some different private interpretations, before going into our study, one being “Baptism is not essential for salvation”. But Jesus commanded his apostles to do so (Matt.28:18-20). The apostle Paul’s sins were washed away by baptism (Acts 22:12-16). After all, this is how one gets into Christ, by putting on Christ in baptism, according to this same apostle (Gal.3:27) Definition: Baptized-907 baptizo (bap-tid’-zo);from a derivative of 911; to immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. T.) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: KJV— Baptist, baptize, wash. The apostle Peter says that baptism saves us (1Pet.3:21-22). Many believe this interpretation of man, “Just pray this prayer, and let Christ in your heart, calling on the name of the Lord and you are saved”. According to Christ and his apostles, we must be baptized by immersion after gladly receiving the apostles word, and continue steadfast in them (Acts2:41-42), if we are to have a chance of salvation. We are going to believe Christ and his apostles, what about you? For Christ gave them (the apostles) the word (Matt.28:16-20; Acts1:1-4). Another private interpretation is “It doesn’t matter what faith you are, go to a Church of your choice, we are all worshiping God.” This all sounds good and convenient; many believe this private interpretation of man. This train of thought was tried before, with the three tabernacles, but God was NOT pleased and said, we must hear his beloved Son, in whom he is well pleased and him only; “Matt 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up

into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three (1)tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.” Definition:(1)tabernacles 4633 skene-1) a tent, a tabernacle, (made of green boughs, or skins or other materials) 2) used of that well-known movable temple of God after the pattern of which the temple at Jerusalem was built. If we are of God we must hear his word (John8:47). Jesus said we are to believe on him through his apostles’ word (John17:1-26); “Eph.4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,” (seeCol.1:18) Man says many faiths, but God, Christ and his apostles say ONE, we believe Christ, what about you?

Now, to address another private interpretation of man; “Saved by Grace… Only?” According to man “All you have to do is believe, and let Christ in your heart; you don’t have to suffer, because he has already suffered for us; pray this prayer, calling on the name of Jesus; in Christ’s name then you are saved by GRACE.” Again, this all sounds good and convenient, but this is not what God said through Christ and his apostles. Many believe this private interpretation of man, also. Note the order given by the apostle Paul, one that God authorized through Jesus Christ; Acts 22:12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 (#1)Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16 And now why tarriest thou? (#2) arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins,

(#3)calling on the name of the Lord. 17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while (#4)I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

This is so like man, why are we so contrary and rebellious? Why can’t man teach all of what is written on a topic, and then strive to OBEY. Private interpretations are dangerous teachings; it leads to error, thereby putting souls in jeopardy. There is a thought among men, that there is one thing by which man is saved. According to God, through Christ and his apostles, there are many things that bring about salvation; this is who we believe, what about you? True, there is more than enough GRACE for ALL that have lived, is living and will ever live, but according to scripture we must DO what it takes to access it. We cannot continue in SIN that grace may abound, for GOD FORBID! We MUST REPENT and be BURIED with the Lord Jesus Christ; by baptism. Then, continue in righteousness thereby becoming a NEW SPIRITUAL MINDED MAN, walking in Newness of Life. For, one cannot be a SECULAR MINDED MAN and please GOD. Please read: Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might (1)grace (2)reign (3)through (4)righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Chapter 6:1 What shall we say then? (5)Shall we continue in (6)sin, that (7)grace (8)may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were (9)baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore (10)we are buried with him by (11)baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also (12)should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not (13)serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: (KJV) Definitions:(1)grace-5485 charis (khar’-ece); from 5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): KJV— acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (ious), joy, liberality, pleasure,

WHAT IS TRUTH? SAVED BY GRACE ONLY - cont Therefore, Paul likens immersion to a burial by which the former sinfulness is buried, that is, utterly taken away. (11)by baptism into death 908 baptisma (bap’-tis-mah); from 907; immersion, baptism (technically or figuratively): KJV— baptism. (12)we also should walk in newness of life-4043 peripateo (per-ee-pat-eh’-o); from 4012 and 3961; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion or votary), b) Hebrew for, to live 1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself 3) to pass one’s life: KJV— go, be occupied with, walk (about). (13)henceforth we should not serve sin-1398 douleuo (doolyoo’-o); from 1401; to be a slave to (literal or figurative, involuntary or voluntary), 1) to be a slave, serve, to do service; used of a nation in subjection to other nations 2) metaphorically, to obey, to submit to. b) in a bad sense, of those who become slaves to some base power, to yield to, to give oneself up to: KJV— be in bondage, (do) serve (-ice). Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the (*)flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be (*)carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the (*)carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the (*)flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. ow if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (read also Rom.12:16; 2Cor.4:15-18) Phil 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who (*)mind

earthly things.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Definition: (*)SEC·U·LAR adj. 1. Worldly rather than spiritual; Earthly, earthy, materialistic, ultra mundane, Temporal, Terrestrial, Physical, Carnal, mortal, World. The Lesson: “Are We Saved by Grace Only?”

Here, the apostle Paul is admonishing Timothy to be partakers of the afflictions (sufferings) of the gospel, as they the apostles were.

SALVATIO … Thru the belief of the apostles’ doctrine, which is the gospel, Baptism and sufferings…… Mark 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.(KJV) John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (KJV) Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. (KJV) Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (see also Acts 16:30-31 and John 17:20-21) (KJV) 1 Cor 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (see also 1 Cor 5:5; Rom 8:24; Rom 10:16-17 see also verses 9-14) (KJV) Phil 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; 30

1 Tim 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.(KJV)

2 Tim 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; (see also verses 9-13) (KJV) 2 Tim 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (see also Titus 3:1-5) James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 1 Pet 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Pet 4:18 And if the (1)righteous (2)scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (see also 1 Pet 4:1-2) Definitions:(1)righteous-1342 dikaios-righteous, observing divine laws. (2)scarcely be saved-3433 molis (mol’is);probably by var. for 3425; 1) with difficulty, hardly 2) not easily, that is, scarcely, very rarely: KJV— hardly, scarce (-ly), + with much work. 1 Pet 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen

(KJV) 2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: (KJV) SALVATIO .....Thru Obedience…… Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; see also verses 5-7 Heb 5:9 ... he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (KJV) Matt 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (see also Matt 17:18 and Acts 5:29) Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: (see also Rom. 3:23-31)) Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, (KJV) Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. (KJV) Rom 15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not (1)wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, (KJV) Definition: (1)wrought by me2716 katergazomai (kat-er-gad’zom-ahee);from 2596 and 2038; do work fully, i.e. accomplish; by implication, to finish, fashion: KJV— cause, to (deed), perform, work (out). 2 Cor 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (KJV) Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?(KJV)

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.(KJV) 2 Cor 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.(KJV) Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not (1)frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by (2)the law, then Christ is dead in vain…(see also Gal 1:6-10; Gal 5:4-7) Definitions:(1)frustrate-114 atheteo-1) to do away with, to set aside, to disregard 2) to thwart the efficacy of anything, to nullify, to make void, to frustrate 3) to reject, to refuse, to slight (2)the law-3551 nomosb) used of the Mosaic law, and referring (according to the context) either to the volume of the law or to its contents d) the name of the more important part (the Pentateuch), is put for the entire collection of the sacred books of the Old Testament Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of

A King-Size View BY GRACE ONLY - cont yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (see Rom.10:16-17) Here, the apostle Paul explains how we have access to the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to him, and the rest of the apostles (2Pet.1:15-21; 3:1-3). According to the apostle Paul, this was done by revelation given to him. Whereby when we read and study (2Tim.2:14-16) what is already written, we will understand their knowledge in the mystery of Christ. So contrary to what we hear, there is no need for God, Christ or the Holy Ghost to talk to us because it is already written, as the apostles were guided by God, Christ and the Holy Sprit. Please read: Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the (1)dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: (Please read also 1Cor.11 :1-3; 2Cor.1:12-14; 2Pet.1:15-21; 3:13; 1Jn.4:6; Jude1:17) Definition: (1)dispensation of the grace of God -3622 oikonomia—- b) the office of a manager or overseer, stewardship c) administration, dispensation Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (KJV) Eph 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that (1)love our Lord Jesus Christ in (2)sincerity. Amen.(KJV) Definitions: (1)love our Lord Jesus Christ-John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. (2)sincerity-861 aphtharsia-1) incorruption, perpetuity 2) purity, sincerity, incorrupt Col 1:2 To the saints and (1)faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.(KJV) Definition: (1)faithful brethren in Christ-4103 pistos (pistos’);from 3982; objectively, trustworthy; subjectively, trustful: KJV— believe (-ing, -r), true. 3982 peitho (pi’-tho); to assent (to evidence or authority): KJV— agree, assure, believe,) make friend, obey, trust, yield.

Col 1:6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: (KJV) II Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.(KJV) 1 Tim 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2 Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.(KJV) Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. see also Titus 2:11-15 (KJV) Heb 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire. (see also Heb 12:14-15) James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Is there anyone that believe devils will be in heaven? Of course

not; according to scripture, they believe and tremble. So then, Faith “only” is not enough for salvation. Please read: James 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.(KJV) 1 Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath (1)called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (KJV) Definition: (1)called- invited) 1 Pet 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (see also verses 6-9) 2 Pet 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,(KJV) 2 Pet 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.(KJV) II Jn 1:2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children (1)walking in (2)truth, as we have received a commandment from the

Page 17

Father.(KJV) Definitions: (1)walking-4043 peripateo (per-ee-pat-eh’-o);from 4012 and 3961; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large; figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion or votary): KJV— go, be occupied with, walk (about).1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself (2)in truth-John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.(KJV) To scripturally answer the question, “Are We Saved by Grace, Faith or for that matter, any one thing Only?”, the answer is ABSOLUTELY OT. 2 Tim 3: 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (KJV) Note the apostle Paul’s warning to the Church in Corinth, to examine themselves whether they were in THE FAITH, not A FAITH…..2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be (1)reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.(KJV) Definition: (1)be reprobates-96 adokimos (ad-ok’-ee-mos); from 1 (as a negative particle) and 1384; unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally): KJV— castaway. Please remember, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, which is false doctrine, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:1721; Acts 20:29-32; James1:2125. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the O LY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect, 2Tim.3:12-17! CENTRAL TEXAS MOURNS THE LOSS OF PROMOTING LEGEND QUINCY N. HARRIS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Waco, Texas-Dr. Victor Keys and I made the trip to Central Texas to pay our respect and join in the Homegoing Celebration of the life of Waco’s legendary promoter Quincy Harris. Wondering what to expect when we got there we were pleased to see such a big turn out for a man who had helped so many over the years. Born the 13th of 14 children to the late James Boston and Lunacy Lilly Harris in Panola County Texas on January 26, 1937. After graduating from Turner High school in Carthage, Texas Harris went on to attend P.V. for three years before joining the U.S. Army. He served two years and after an honorable discharge he moved to Waco, Texas. Harris married Etherline Huffman Harris and the couple spent 39 years together until she passed away. They had joined Carver Park Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.

Ms. Leona Daniels daughter of the late-great Rev. W. Leo Daniels doing a wonderful job with song

Robert Gilbert and continued their member ship as Dr. Gaylon Foreman took over the popular church. Earlier on in his young adult life Harris worked at Steakley Brothers Chevrolet and the State School for Boys before moving to the Veteran Administration Hospital in Waco. Wanting to further his education Quincy enrolled in classes at Paul Quinn College and went on to earn at B.S. degree. When he filled out an application for the McLennan County Community Supervision and Corrections department he found no black were allowed. But being the steadfast person he was Harris took the necessary steps and went on to become the first African American Probation Officer to join the department and worked there for 30 years from 1974 until having a full retirement in August 2004. But all during this time he was working on the weekends booking concerns all over Central Texas. Harris as the distinction to have booked the Soul Stirrers for 25 consecutive years dating back to the days of the late-great Sam Cooke. Other Gospel great who were promoted by Harris included Joe Ligon and the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Sister Shirley Caesar, the later Willie Neal Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes, Paul Beasley, The Racy Brothers, Donnie McClurkin, The Williams Brothers as well as the great Lee Williams. However Quincy also spent time booking R & B acts as well such as the late Bobby “Blue” Bland, Ernie Johnson, Charlie Roberson, Lady Lotion and local act Classie Ballou who opened for the out of towns acts. We met Quincy in 2007 as he came to Houston for the Fiesta Black History Festivals starring Ernie Johnson and came each year for five years. Over that

Rev. Rodney Barnes organist played very well

time span we begin talking more and more and he taught me a lot of the tricks of the trade and was always willing to give me good advice. It came in handy because of his many years of experience he was truly able to help me along the week. We will always be grateful to him for helping us along the way! The Carver Park Baptist Church choir did a wonderful job on the song Jesus is the center of my life”. Rev. George Johnson Jr. read the Old Testament and Rev. Miles Adanandas read the New Testament, while the prayer was done by Rev. Cornel Butler. Ernie Johnson fought back the tears as he did his rendition of “A change Gonna Come” one of Quincy’s favorite songs. After the Carver Park Baptist family gave resolution it was show time as the dynamic Ms. Leona Daniels the daughter of the lategreat W. Leo Daniels did her version of “Because He lives” Quincy’s favorite Gospel song. Next it was time to reflect on the Quincy they all knew. Church Member Lawrence Johnson spoke very highly of Harris being involved in Church activities and sharing his wisdom and knowledge to the board. A young up and coming Gospel Promoter Bishop Royce Montgomery was excited to talk and sing about the joys of life and times he spent learning the ropes from Mr. Harris. Rev Shank Robinson filled in for Joe Ligon and credited Harris with being a true friend and a very caring person. Up next was former KCOH Radio personality Michael Harris of Houston, the nephew of Quincy. Michael quickly made it known his uncle knew everyone and was very good at what he did and he truly is going to miss him. Quinn M. Harris made the trip all the way from California and talked about his Harris family

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harris and Robert Muse

and how he wanted to be know he mention the one who could not make the trip. He and his wife came down for the services and he played a wind instrument solo for the group instead of just talking about his love one. The lovely and talented Teresa Echols rocked the house with her rendition of Amazing Grace. Dr. Gaylon Foreman took a short and direct approach after quoting a couple of scriptures that fit the occasion and saying it was simply a true Blessing known Mr. Harris and a Lesson learned on how to get ready for your own home going! Among those left to mourn are La Quinn Stevens, Xavier Stevens, Demond Chappell and Affiong Harris, brothers Learvis

and Odis (Margaret) and Minnie Harris-Day, Navarro HarrisDaniels and brother-in-law Robert Muse. Step children Howard Douglas Huffman Sr. Sam “Coach Dobie” Smith III and E. Jean (Joseph) Boone. Plus a host of grandchildren great grand children and nieces and nephews and whole lot of cousins and friends! As the choir with organist Rev. Rodney Barnes leading the way singing “I’ll fly Away” it was hard to hold back tears as we help carry the flag draped coffin to the waiting hearse to take Mr. Harris on his last ride. Quincy N. Harris was laid to rest in the Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killen, Texas on Monday March 24th.

CENTRAL TEXAS MOURNS THE LOSS OF PROMOTING LEGEND QUINCY N. HARRIS

Mr. Quinn M Harris and wife from California

Quincy Harris at Ernie Johnson birthday party We have talked quite a bit about setting goals, staying positive, having confidence and being true to oneself. When you exercise all the things I've written about you get an end result which is to see your goals manifested. When you have a dream and you fuel it with strong desire, faith, and hard work it becomes a reality.

TABLE FOR ONE Lisa Smith

READY, SET, GOALS

I've read hundreds of articles telling me to how to reach my dreams and if you are like me I prefer some proof with it so, I want to share one of my goals with you that has been manifested. I've written my first installment of a series of children's books and you are invited to attend my book signing on April 13, 2014 at the Children's Museum of Houston from 2-5p. It's exciting to see what can happen when you really focus, it is only when you become unfocused that things appear to be obstacles. Each time I reach a goal it gives me the strength and courage I need to reach for the next one.

Quincy . Harris with his wife Etherline Huffman-Harris

Mrs. avarro Daniels known as Aunt eb the widow of the late great Rev. W. Leo Daniels

So again, I challenge you as I continue to challenge myself to set goals, work hard and execute which will enable us to share and celebrate all accomplishments big and small.
