Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)

LEXUS IS 350 FOUR-DOOR Talk about smooth sailing, that’s what we had a couple of weeks ago in the new 2014 Lexus IS350 four-door sedan. Yes luxury at its best and a whole lot of fun to go along with it. Plus the economics weren’t bad either. To start with the new Lexus IS350 sedan came with proven 3.6 Liter V6 engine 24-valve DOHC Direct & port injection with variable valve timing cranking out 308 horsepower and 277 pounds per foot of torque. This engine mated to a eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and drive mode select Economic, Normal, Sport and Snow. I’d say they just about got it all covered when you consider it sits on a Double Wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. With Vehicle Dynamics integrated management, ABS,EBD and Brake Assist to boot. All this rolls smoothly but powerful to the pavement on P 225/45R 17

inch All-Season tires neatly wrapped around Aluminum Wheels. You know right off the bat if things are going well because the vehicle has location specific tire pressure monitoring system. Seeing down the road on dark nights have never been better due to the High Intensity Discharge Headlamps and low and high beams LED daytime running lights. When you are looking at the new Lexus from the rear you’ll notice the chrome tips of the dual exhaust system. Inside you are certainly in Luxury automobile Heaven starting with a power Tilt/Slide moon roof with one-touch open/close. Smart/access with pus button stat/stop technology. As the list grows to covers such features as driver 10-way power seat with two-way lumbar adjustments and an eight-way seat for the front passenger. The rear seats are

60/40 split and there is a multiinformation display in full color including audio, phone and trip information. Add in a Lexus Premium display audio system with HD radio with real-time traffic and weather, Gracenote album art, MP3 player USB integration and Sirius XM Satellite radio with 90 day free trial. The modern day cowboy wants to be able to knock the dust of his truck and drive it to church on Sunday mornings. In order to do that and take the family along you need the crew cab version. Keep in mind we are not talking about a strippeddown work truck but a state of the art vehicle with high ground clearance to make you feel safe in any kind of terrain. Indeed the new truck stills manages to get 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles on the highway. That’s with a powerful 5.3 liter V-8 engine with direct injection and active fuel management, this baby still gives you 355 horsepower and 383 lbft of torque. In addition to that the massive Hydra-matic 7L80 six-speed automatic transmission still tows 9,600 pounds with a 3.42 axle and the max trailering package hits 11,200 pounds. With a 26 gallon fuel tank you don’t have to worry about fueling this baby regularly either. For those of you who recall the years when automakers were making smaller vehicle that day is gone when it comes to fullsize luxury trucks. This baby has a wheel base of 145.3 inches and the overall length is 229.5

inches and a width of 80 inches. Needless to say this baby takes up some space and backs it with a Max payload of 1,957 pounds and a GVWT of 7,200. GMC is standing tall beside this vehicle with a schedules maintenance warranty of 2 year/24,000 miles oil and filter, 4 wheel rotation plus 24 hour roadside assistance. A 5 year/100,000 mile power train limited warranty. That just goes to show how much GMC believes in this product. The new GMC Sierra SLT had 40 percent of its parts from the United States and Canada with 51 per cent from Mexico. While both the engine and transmission are built right in the United State the finals assembly point is Silao, GL Mexico. Inside the huge cabin of this

Cowboy heavenly designed vehicle you are greeted the comforts you know to expect from Luxury touring sedans. Features as power sunroof and audio system eight-inch diagonal color touch screen with navigation and

a Bose Sound system. Full range leather appointed bucket seats with heat and cool features. Even the steering has audio controls and is leather wrapped and has tilt/telescopic features. There is even a rear camera and three

free months of Sirius XM radio but is sold separately after the free trial period ends. In closing please allow me to add the Texas SLT Crew Cab Value saves you $1000 but the vehicle came in at 49,865.

BUICK REGAL MAKING A NEW NAME IN THE MARKET PLACE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Even though the original name plate was released in late 1972 as a 1973 model, the Buick Regal is back with a full head of steam. The 1973 model sold more than 91,000 units and quickly established itself on the market. Years later Buick would make the Regal their first Turbo and they added a V6 that had comfortable V8 power while still maintaining good fuel consumption. But many things have changed and still Buick Regal is right up there rebuilding the name so many American learned to trust during the run of the GS model in their Pace Car days. We test drove the 2014 Regal FWD Premium II group the other day and found it to be a great deal of fun. Powered by a 2.0 Liter Turbo 4-cylinder SIDI cranking out 259 horsepower up 18 per cent from the 2013 model. This baby also tosses out 295 pounds per foot of torque and still manages 21 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The number for the base 2.4 liter engine gets 25 in the city and 36 on the highway. Over the past four or five years it’s clear GM is simply building better product lines and Americans are getting back behind the wheel of GM products these days. Fact is with such new styling one have to look close to identify some of these models due to their sweeping styling changes. More on the mechanicals of the new Buick is it’s 6-speed automatic transmission and electric power steering with variable assist. Ultrasonic rear park assist and stability control system complete with traction control. Sure it has anti-locking brakes with 4-wheel disc. Let us not

forget we are talking about features normally found on more expensive import luxury sedans. This is all with 66 percent of its parts from right here in the U S and Canada with the Engine and Transmission both built in the United States. The final assembly point for the Buick is Oshawa, On. Canada. Inside the Buick Regal you take a stroll down memory lane with front bucket seats and that along should jog your memory of the good old’ days. But new features like power windows with express down and express feature for both front and rear win-

dows. You are quickly reminded just how much though Buick put into this product line. The driver is pleased to learn Regal has an 8-way power adjustable seat and so does the front passenger complete with 4way lumbar. By the way the front seats are also equipped with heat feature and so is the steering wheel. Optional is a Bose Premium 9speaker system with CD player and select Bluetooth Streaming. Warranties are great for the new Buick as they offers 4year/50,000 bumper to bumper warranty plus 6-year/70,000

CAMPTOWN UPDATE By John Engel A King-Size View If you read this space last month you know I am involved in the restoration of the Camptown Cemetery in Brenham. We returned in November for the last work party of the year. During the day we unearthed some very historic graves, including the Issac Family. The Issacs were a big influence on the Rose Hill Church and the general area around Brenham. We also learned that Texas A & M University started mapping the area with Ground Penetrating Radar. An area about 50 feet by 50 feet was mapped. A very unusual discovery was made. It seems that a cannon was buried around the time of the Civil War. Although nothing is known about the cannon, it was probably buried by the Confederates to keep it out of the hands on the union Army. It will be exhumed and examined after the GPR project is completed. The GPR project will take about three years to complete and it is dependent upon the grounds being cleared. Another discovery is that of a grave, bordered by a wrought iron fence. The stone is destroyed and the iden-

tity of the deceased is unknown. Inside the fence is an enameled cup that may have been the field cup of a slave. To date over 120 bottles have been found in the cemetery. Some of these date back to the mid 1800’s. Bottles are fairly easy to date die to manufacturer markers and other indicators. There will be a permanent display at the museum to explain the importance of these artifacts. This is an incredible site and the history is just starting to unfold. What is needed the most now is help clearing the area. It is slow work as some of the growth is over 100 years old. The last work party used about 25 people. We cut with saws and brush trimmers then stacked the brush. If there are any groups out there looking for a physically demanding but extremely rewarding community service project, contact the Brenham Heritage Museum at 979830.8445. They will be able to tell you when the next work day is scheduled and how you can get involved. This is a perfect project for a scout troop or youth organization that would like to learn about the history of our area while helping preserve it.

STUDEWOOD COBRAS FLAG AND FRESHMAN SQUADS IN SUPERBOWL ON DECEMBER 7TH By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The 2013 Studewood Cobras flag team remained unbeaten throughout the regular season and into the playoffs. After beating the Giants in overtime they are still unbeaten! The Super Bowl was postponed until Saturday December 7, 2013 at Aldine Junior football stadium. It will be chance for the Flag team to complete their season and win the title. The flag head coach Clourid Johnson is looking forward to putting his twins Kelyn and Kamron Washom into the game as they have hooked up for several touchdowns this season in the air. Yes we meant to say two six-year old twins connecting through the air for scores.

Another standout player on the flag team is J.J. Martin who grabbed the last flag to seal the overtime win and send the Cobra to the Super Bowl. He has played well all season. The Freshman squad is coached by the legendary Walter Penrice and he is excited about this team this year and they have only one loss this year. With a full group of boys Penrice feels this is one of his better teams in years and they are ready for action. They’ve had to win three playoff games in order to reach the finals they are ready to roll.

AS FOOTBALL FADES INTO BASKETBALL

THE COLLEGE SPORTS REPORT Jerry Woodley November brings about the winding down of the regular college football season. And then there is the crossover into basketball season. But, keeping with football, it brings about an urgency to winning during the month of November...either toward a conference championship or to get to a bowl game. So let’s get with it. With four Div 1 football program options in the Houston area. If someone had told me that the local college football season would have gone like it has, I probably would not have believed them. An upstart program finished with a better record than a program that’s been around awhile. Even though it was an abbreviated schedule, (3-4) vs 2-9), the playing field was basically the same. Yes, I’m talking about HBU vs TSU. FCS schools, SouthlandSWAC. Both schools will have a full recruiting season, spring workouts, scholarships, going into next season. Are they two ships headed in the same direction or, are they just passing each other in the night? Only time will tell. One had a successful venture this season while the other was not able to overcome the obstacles in front of them. This brings about another familiarity of these two programs: tiered talent in the area, an abundance of it. With the Div 1 - 4 options, two Div 1-A (Houston, Rice) and two Div 1AA (HBU, TSU), that’s a lot of football scholarships available in the city. At minimum 85 (FBS) twice and 63 (FCS) at the other two. Looking at the records of this season, shouldn’t be a measure of HBU and TSU. But, their rosters give a better insight of where they are going. For HBU, only 3 on the roster of 99 are from outside of Texas. Everyone else is from within. Meanwhile, TSU has 34 on the roster that are from TX. Those numbers, are what I will use as a judge as to the success of these two programs going forward. Why? Because recruiting will fuel them both, especially with facilities at both schools being what they are. HBU has built a stadi

Page 9

um on campus. Seating will be added before the beginning of next fall’s season as they move into the Southland as a full member. Signing day for both programs will be very interesting.

Moving on to Houston and Rice, they’ve got their football lives for this season’s aspirations still in front of them. Well, at least Rice does. They’ve still got a chance at a conference title and a bowl game in sight. Meanwhile Houston has a bowl game waiting for their acceptance. It was and is good to see the success of both teams this season given the changes in the make up of Conference USA (Rice) and the American (Houston). The Cougars now sit at 7-4(4-3), while the are Owls

8-3 (6-1). Rice’s outlook is better with 1 regular season conference game to play (Tulane). Less can be said of what happened to UH down the stretch. Was it breaks that went toward the Owls way? Or was it not making stops when the Cougars needed to? One thing is for sure, both programs started out of the gate fast, doing what they had to do win games early. Now comes November and teams have a scouting report on you. Games become a grind and a contest of who can finish. Horseshoes be

damned, just get it done. Consistency becomes a rallying cry, for both coaches and players. “Win November, play in December.” That is what the Cougars and Owls are waiting on. To play in December. Next month I’ll get deeper into the college basketball season. Looks like it’s going to be Cougars, Tigers, Huskies, and Celts competing for attention this this year, HARD.

REO Community Development Premiere Asset ServicesSM (PAS), a division of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, seeks to stabilize communities by partnering with municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and land banks. Wells Fargo provides sustainable homeownership opportunities for neighborhoods and communities by providing a first look to approved organizations and donating low-value properties. Discounted and donated properties are transferred with all taxes paid current and liens satisfied. Properties not sold through the first look program or donation are typically repaired and marketed to owner occupants to further stabilize communities. The National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST), a nonprofit partner of PAS, conducts all organizational vetting, on boarding, and provides tools for the acquisition process. After an organization is approved, they work in conjunction with the NCST and Wells Fargo to acquire properties via the donation program or the NCST First Look Program.

Nonprofit application process for first look and donations NCST inquiries and application requests should be sent to firstlook@stabilizationtrust.com. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REPORT-LAMAR ROLLS OVER ALIEF TAYLOR 36-0 By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Lamar Redskins rolled over Alief Taylor 36-0 to advance to another showdown with Pearland. The Redskins scored following two pass completions to receiver Shelby Walker that setup Ronnie Wesley’s one yard dive for the game’s first score. We spoke with Shelby; “we ran across the middle and Darrell and I were on the same page because we ran that play so many times in practice”. Shelby was talking about his 34 yard scoring pass from Colbert in the third period. He went on to talk about just how good this Lamar team could be. “If we continue to follow our coaching and work hard in practice we can be the best team in Texas and perhaps the country”. We asked him about the trip to Dallas Cowboys Stadium. “It was a great experience for me being such a young player and now we know what it’s like and hopefully we can get back there again and win it this time”. Trevion Duncan, a 5 feet 9 inch 170 pound junior defensive back, intercepted a pass and returned it 26 yards for the Redskins second score. Then former Studewood Cobras Levy (Smokey) Whiteing scored from one yard out. He went in standing up. Whiteing finished with a team-leading 50 yard rushing on only 7 carries. “We come to practice each day and work hard to get better”. We spoke with him about his running buddy Ronnie Wesley who is one year behind him. “Yes sir it is good playing with him and sometimes we talk about things like Taylor was trying to strip the ball from us so we reminded him to protect the ball and things like that”. Another former Studewood Cobras is Craig

Levy (Smokey) Whiteing (20) Lamar’s setback

(Snub) Loston the All-American Safety at LSU, who had his 6th interception of the year against Texas A & M on Saturday night. Whiteing commented on the success Loston is having at LSU. “It makes me feel good knowing he is doing well and it makes me want to play and do well also”. Whiteing said going to state was a wonderful experience but he would like to go back and win this time around. The Redskins defense dominated play as well as leader such as Kyran Mitchell at linebacker and defensive back Holton Hill who also had a great game. Another outstanding junior on Lamar’s squad is Holton Hill, a 6 feet 2 inch 170 pound junior defensive back, who did a super job on Keenen Brown holding him to one catch. “Yes sir we kind of get in his head and pressed them up and kept them in front of us all game long”. When asked if he was surprised the Skins at 12-0 and added another shut out. “No sir I’m not surprised because when it came down to it we just stepped up and made plays. He is looking forward to the showdown with Pearland. “We have a week to

prepare and we will be ready”. NORTH SHORE EXPLODED FOR 434 YARDS rushing in their 61-0 shut out win over Hightower. Tristan Houston led the way with 161 yards and two touchdowns in just 15 carries. Lawance McCardell hit Kevian De Leon from 55 yards out for another score. Several other back took part in the gold rush as the Mustangs galloped to their 12 win of the season against no defeats. THE KATY TIGERS ROLLED TO A 51-7 WIN OVER CY WOODS with Rodney Anderson leading the way with 236 yards and four touchdowns. In his spare time he returned a punt 62 yards for another score. The Tigers are 12-0 and headed to state again.

TEXAS CITY RIPPED RIDGE POINT 28-0 AS THE FOREMAN TWINS each scored a touchdown in the win. ELGIN WHIPPED CROSBY AS THE SIMMONS TWINS EACH SCORED 56-28 both Walter twins scored for Crosby in the loss. GEORGE RANCH BEAT FB MARSHALL 42-21 with Collins Kwabena doing his thing to the tune of 174 yards and a touchdown. CY-FAIR GOT THE UPPER HAND ON CINCO RANCH 24-14 for their 11th win in 12 games this season.

SPRING-WESTFIELD RIPPED PAST RR CEDAR RIDGE 47-7 with a 434 rushing yards night. FB ELKINS ROLLED OVER PA MEMORIAL 48-21 AS Tim Jackson rushed for 74 yards and 4 touchdowns. BRENHAM EDGE DAYTON 31-30 in a thriller with Kyle McBride hauling in his second touchdown pass from Triston Baughman. The signal caller hit on13 of 28 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns in the win. REAGAN BULLDOGS SNAPPED TO 10-WIN SEASON IN 2013

By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View The Reagan Bulldogs had a super year in 2013 as they won ten games and went unbeaten in district action. It also marked the first time the school won a district title since 1959. Congratulations are in order for head coach Stephen Dixon and his staff on a job well done. Beating Tomball Memorial 7-0 in the opening round of the playoffs the Bulldogs made their way to week twelve for the second time in three years. It is clear to say coach Dixon and his staff are well on their way to turning the program around. We spoke with senior receiver and defensive back Stephen Dixon and he was very excited about the success of the Bulldogs.

“We said when we were sophomore and juniors we were going to do something special as seniors and we won the district”. When we asked what was it like to be playing under the leadership of his father. “It has been great because I never wanted any special treatment from him, fact is I would like to be remembered as Stephen Dixon the football player rather than the coaches son”. He credited his teammates on getting in the weight room and trying to make themselves better over the years as to why Reagan is doing so well.

Another senior on the team is Malcolm La Fleur, a 200 pound safety and wide receiver. “Man this is something special and I’m proud of the way this is turning out for the senior as well as the

underclassmen who are on this team”. After being there when they lost big to Pearland Dawson two years ago, the Bulldogs again faced Dawson losing a close one 21-7 this time around is an indication on just how far the program has come over the past years. “We can recall when it was only three or four guys in the weight room and now it hard to get in there to work out because so many guys are in there”. All this is a good indication of what a great job coach Stephen Dixon has done with this program. He and his staff certainly should to be honored for their hard work.

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK

BRAYLON HYDER - LAMAR In order to win a game in a shut out you simply have to control both sides of the ball at line of scrimmage. Well that’s what happened as Lamar ran past Alief Taylor 36-0 at Delmar to advance to the third round facing Pearland. The two teams meet at Mercer Stadium at 1.00 PM on Friday November 29th. The center of Lamar’s massive offensive line Braylon Hyder took care of business as he and his teammates worked over Alief all day long. At 6’2” and 260 the senior could take care of himself but had plenty of help on the offensive front. Jonathan Beaudion, Trevor Jones, Stephen Whitefield and Celious Barner to name a couple of

guys. They also got help from the tight end Justin Hollie. We spoke with the senior lineman and gathered some of his thoughts. “It’s not much to say about it other than trust in God and the guy next to you to get the job done”. Overall the Redskins were simply overpowering the Lions all day long. “ Taylor showed a lot of heart and they never gave us man they came at us every down”. In closing we asked the lineman how far can this Lamar team go? “Last year’s team showed us what we needed to do to get where we want to go and I believe we can take it all the way this year!

COACH OF THE WEEK

STEPHEN DIXON - REAGAN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View In just a few years with the program Stephen Dixon has made the history books as he led the Reagan Bulldogs to a district title for the first time since 1959. The mild-mannered coach who played at Sugarland Willow ridge a few years ago is happy to be working with the Bulldogs program. “Hey man from our Principal (Connie Berger) all the way through our staff and players along with our student body plus our community we are a team”. The excited Dixon went on to say moments after they beat Tomball Memorial 7-0 at Delmar he was ready for the next game. “I’m ready to go to work right now because we had some injuries and we hope have our team at full strength next week.

head coach at Reagan and now Dixon is back as the head man. “Yes sir I worked with Harry and we kind of got it started then and took a little dip but now we are back at Reagan and it’s like having a vision come true”. The Bulldogs went unbeaten in district and be 10-1 and ranked number 10 in the area. “Reagan had their share of hard times but have made the playoffs the past 3 years in a row and finally we are getting some recognition”.

The likeable coach went on to say he spent a lot of time around good coaches all his life and he is tickled pick to be the head coach at Reagan these days. In closing Dixon thanked the Lord for giving him the opportunity to coach at Reagan and to be part of their big turnaround. “Anytime you coach a program that has been on the losing end of games for a long time you must be organized and do things the right way and that’s what we are doing”.

Having solid staff beside consisting of Willie Agson, Sandy Alvarado, Kerrick Arrington, Robin Kirk, Franco Smith, Deron Trevino, Daniel Perez, Jimmy McClure, Fedel Aleman and Derrick Earthly then see the program getting better. “Our kids are really getting into what we are trying to built here and we feel good about our team right now”.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

JOHN ZOOK - LAMAR If you’ve seen the Lamar Redskins play football you know those guys who run around the stadium with the flags each time they score. Please be aware they are called the Warriors and they are some of the finest students who attend Lamar high school. This edition we talked with John Zook, the mild-mannered handsome son of Eleanor and Richard Zook. He is holding a 4.3-9 Grade Point Average and favors Economics in his classes. With already having a desire to go into business, John feels he

will not only make a good businessman but a good father and husband someday as well. We must admit John is our first student to throw those two very important positions into the conversation. With hobbies of playing golf and performing community services, John has his values in place and is excited about his career in college. “Business has always been my goal and I plan to work very hard in the coming years to achieve that goal.

Coaching with Harry Colon the former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back when he was the When asked about the school spirit at Lamar these days John says he’d give the school a 9 and he explained. “Sure football is king but I’d like to see more students rally behind some of our other sports as well”. On the subject of school changes he would like to see, dress code came out quickly and he would like to see changes in that. Crediting his mother with being his most driving force in life John praises her for keeping him on the straight and narrow path. “She doesn’t take away my cell phone or nothing of the kind but when she tell me what has to be done I get it done and I love her for encouraging me to be the best I can be in life”. We always ask our student if they could live over again what would they do differently? John quickly said all things happen

Coach Stephen Dixon led Reagan to 10-win season -photo by Dr. Victor Keys for a reason but sometimes I wished I had tried harder in classes in my freshman year”. A member at Bethel Church, Zook feels it fills his cup for the correct way to life and he enjoys regular worship service in the non-denominational Church. On the subject of Health Care, John made it clear he feels the government should not be so involved in everyone’s Health Care. “I don’t agree with Obama-Care, but I do understand we are in need of some better form of health care, but to have a national healthcare system like some countries is not the answer either”. Describing himself as a serving person, who is nice and hard working. John is also the Cocaptain of the golf team, the Warriors and an Eagle Scout also!

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: CEDERICK PICKROM-REAGAN - GLENN ANDERSON-LAMAR By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View CEDERICK PICKROM REAGA When the opportunity comes to make a big play, great players find a way to get the job done. That was the case in the opening round of the high school football playoffs for Reagan’s Cederick Pickrom. The six feet one inch 185 pound sophomore was Johnny on the Spot at his defensive back position when he heard Ball, Ball and quickly jumped on it and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown. It turned out to be the only points scored in Reagan’s 7-0 playoff win over Tomball Memorial at Delmar Stadium. “It happened so fast I saw a sweep coming my way, but our D-line is so good they

got him before he got to the outside”. Pickrom went on to say Magnus Kinne and Jarron Manning wrapped up the QB and the ball fell out. “I heard my teammates saying ball, ball,

ball and I picked it up and scored a touchdown on the play”. As we talked more with Cederick he told us the team is truly together and when one player is down the entire team and coaching staff encourages him to get it going again. “We have a good combination of players and coaches who want to help one another out and that’s why we are winning games now”. GLE A DERSO LAMAR

Rolling to another shut out win the Lamar Redskins wasted no time in making clear they want to keep playing. Their defense was flying to the ball as if it was cake and ice cream. Senior linebackers Kyran Mitchell and

Glenn Anderson took turns making life rough for runners from the Alief Taylor Lions. With the Skins up 20-0 it was Anderson who got by his man and made a big sack to end another drive. Once again when the Lions were backed up Anderson got free and recorded a safety giving Lamar a big 36-0 lead and that turned out to be the final score. “We had worked so hard in practice and we are like family on the field”. When asked about last year team going all the way to the state title game against Allen at Cowboys Field in Dallas, Texas. “That just showed us what we have to do to get back thee and we are looking forward to working hard to get back there again and this time win the state title”. Lamar was putting good pressure upfront as Brandon Agomuo, Regan Johnson, Ira

Savage-Lewis and Deon Ford controlled the line of scrimmage all game long. This made it clear Lamar is tough to score against at all.

WHAT IS TRUTH? HAPPY HOLIDAYS Subject: Happy Holidays; Please Get Your Bible and Follow This Study

OTE DEFI ITIO S: Holiday1. (n.) A religious festivity:• feast • pageant • feast day For those of us that choose not to follow traditions and doctrines of men, this is not a happy time of the year, but rather a sad one. This causes pain and suffering when so many of our fleshly family members, and/or those that profess to be followers of Christ (Christians), choose to do so. As true followers of Christ we cannot, and will not; (Matt.10:32-39; 2Tim.3:12-17; 1Pet.4:1-7). This hurts our Fleshly feelings, and it goes against our Carnal wants, (our Bellies) (Rom.16:16-19; 2Cor.10:1-7; Gal.5:16-26; Phil.3:16-21; James4:1-10). Those striving to follow Christ (Christians) are commanded by Christ through his apostles, not to observe or give heed to fables, traditions, doctrines, and commandments of men; for these things are Idle> (free from labor, at leisure) (Matt.12:35-37, 1Tim.1:4, 2Tim.4:3-4, Titus1: 13-14, Col.2:8-10 and verses 20-22). The commandments of God through Christ and his apostles, edifies the Spiritual Mind and strengthens the New Spiritual man in Christ Jesus, (Rom.12:1-2; 2Cor.5:14-17; Eph.4:20-24; Col.3:1-10). Christians must observe all things that Christ commanded his Apostles (Matt.28:20; John17: 2021; Acts 1:1-4; 2Pet.3:1-3; 1John4:5-6; Jude 1:16-19). ‘Tis a season that is full of Vanity, decorations, eating in a gluttonous manner, drunkenness and fables; which are lies. Now let’s look at some lies that have been put in place by man, Santa (so-called), riding in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer, and going down a chimney, of course we know this is a lie. “Santa Claus”, Father Christ/mas and or Kris Kringle, derived from Christ/Kindle, meaning, “Christ Child“ this is an abominable LIE. “This began in Germany, among Protestant denominations”. How many lies can one tell, or be a part of and be right with God? Especially lies involving and surrounding God’s Beloved Son: in whom He is Well pleased: (please hear God and understand; Matt.17:1-8). Christians MUST speak and DO the TRUTH, if we are of Christ, through his apostles’ Word, (please hear Jesus John 17:1421). Can anyone prove by the inspired Word, that there were three wise men; if we cannot, how can we know it’s true, we cannot? Think about it, children are taught that lying is wrong; except in some cases, one being, of ALL things, the unauthorized celebrations dealing with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. This is shameful and DEADLY, to soul salvation. Why would a Christian teach damnation to anyone, especially to their CHILDREN? There are no examples and or commands for Christians to observe Christmas; thereby being unauthorized by Christ and or his apostles. This also sends the message to children that, participating in, or being

involved with some lies is ok, especially the ones that MAN thinks he has involved Christ in (1John1:1-6); instead of teaching the TRUTH; that all liars will have their part in HELL. “Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all (1)liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Definition: (1)all liars-5571 pseudes (psyoo-dace’); from 5574; untrue, i.e. erroneous, deceitful, wicked: KJV— false, liar. Children are being brought up in the nurture and admonition of fables/lies, traditions, doctrines, and commandments of men, rather than of The Lord (listen Eph.6:14). Remember Christians are to exhort to godliness, (1Tim 4:6-16) please note verses 12&13). It is so sad that so many souls observe in any manner these traditions of men, instead of following the WORD, which is given to us by God through Christ, and his apostles. After all the Word is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL!

Christians to observe. In these instructions “Christmas”, and the practice of it, cannot be found. Now, we believe this should open the door for some legitimate questions, for those who want to know the TRUTH, and escape error. For we all MUST strive to escape error, in order to have eternal LIFE. Who made “JESUS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON”? Who put “CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS”? It has been proven by the Apostles’ Doctrine that God the father did not; neither did Jesus Christ and his Apostles. Who else did Christ leave this authority; NO ONE ELSE. According to scriptures Jesus left his Apostles the Word (John17:5-10), so that when we read (Eph.3:1-7), study (2Tim.2:15) and strive to obey (2Thes.1:7-9; James 1:21-25; 2:17-26; 1Pet.4:12-19) the commands of the apostles (Acts1:14; Acts2:41-42; 2Pet.3:1-2; 1John 4:5-6; Jude 1:16-19), this and only this makes us all ONE, right (righteous) with God. Now let us examine the origin of this tradition.

Here is another ERRONIOUS statement, “JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON”; this is a cunningly devised fable, in other words, “believable error”. Jesus has never been and never will be the reason for any season, because JESUS IS NOT SEASONAL. Jesus Christ is a LIFESTYLE that one MUST strive as a Christian to live 24-7. Jesus has left instructions on what Christians MUST remember about him, and it is not his birth, but his death (1Cor.11:23-34). He lived a life of suffering (Isaiah 53:1-12; Matt.21:1-7; Luke 9:57-62; John1:9-11; John12:25-26), then died most cruelly on the cross for us all. Remember, His Father for our sake was pleased to BRUISE His only begotten Son, Isa.53:10. Then, after His death, and the shedding of blood for the remission of sin: raised Him up on the third day, thereby giving us a chance for salvation, IF we OBEY and follow HIM, through his apostles, (John 17:8-23; John 19:34; Acts 22:16; 1Cor.1:30; 6:11; Eph.5:26-27; Heb.5:5-9; Heb.9:13-28; James1:21-22; 1Pet.3:21-22; 1Pet.4:1-3; 1John1:6-10).

Christmas: Date (Dec. 25), was established in (A.D. 336), by the Western Church, based at Rome. The Eastern Orthodox and the Eastern Rite churches within the Roman Catholic Church chose (January 6). There seems to have been some confusion on the date of which this day was to be observed. God is not the author of confusion (listen 1Cor.14:33), this only happens with man’s traditions. This is why Christians MUST observe all things that Christ has commanded the Apostles, (Matt.28:20). Again you will not find the word “Christmas”, or the traditional practice of it, by Christ nor his Apostles. So, there is no such custom in the Church of God (1Cor.11:16), which he purchased with his blood (Acts20:28), which is the Church of and by Christ (Matt. 16:16-18; Eph.3:21; 5:23-33; Col.1:18). As we can tell by the dates given, this tradition came MUCH TOO late to be of Christ or his apostles. According to Christ Himself, Christians MUST believe on Him through his Apostle’s word, (John17:20-21) and continue STEADFAST, in the apostle’s doctrine, as those before us (Acts2:41-42), this is SAFE.

“KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS”, this is another cunningly devised fable, in that the word Christmas cannot be found in the inspired WORD, (the Bible). So then God, the ONE and ONLY HOLY FATHER, which IS IN HEAVEN, did not put his precious Son in it. Christ being the WORD (John1:1-14), never practiced it himself, and GOD made it clear in Matt. the17th chapter, that Christians MUST hear his beloved son, in whom He is well pleased and him ONLY (verse 8). In Matt. 28:18-20 when Jesus Christ was about to ascend back into heaven, he made it clear to his apostles, that all power in heaven and earth had been given unto him, from his Father which is in heaven. Christ then began to leave them instructions on what they MUST do and teach true

The TREE is one of the main things GLORIFIED in this tradition, which man has WITHOUT AUTHORITY; thereby without success, tried to make Jesus the reason for. After all, this is where the so called “GIFTS” are laid, and so much time is spent in the DECORATING of it. The children of Israel were warned of a similar custom; “Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and

with hammers that it move not.” Now man has introduced the tradition of the “Christmas Tree”, that many Professing to be Christians, “followers of Christ”, observe. How can this be, when this tradition cannot be found in the apostles’ doctrine or in the inspired WORD of the bible, at all?

thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. 13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot (2)recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”

Man himself proves the fact that Jesus is not the reason for the season, and that he is not in it. For when the, so-called, Christmas season starts, what is truly thought of the most? Is it Christ or is it the time off, the vain carnal trees and decorations, the materialistic gifts, the glutinous foods and drinks, the carnal games and the fleshly family gatherings? Where is Christ? Let your conversation be ONLY about Christ, the scriptures, and soul salvation while at these gatherings and see how popular you will be, (Philp.1:27; 1Tim.4:11 -16; 1Pet.1:13-19; 2Pet.3:8-12). Take the carnal, fleshly wants of man out of the equation; there would be no observance of these carnal days that Christ has not authorized to those that are his. The proof is in the pudding; our GOD is truly our BELLIES Phil 3:1620, because it seems nothing can be done without carnal food. Today, even buildings that should O LY be built for worship, which include the serving of SPIRITUAL food, for the spiritual edification of the body of Christ, must have KITCHENS.

Definitions:(1)com·pen·sates. — tr. 1. To offset; counterbalance. 2. To make satisfactory payment or reparation to; recompense or reimburse. (2) for they cannot recompence thee-468 antapodoma-the thing paid back, requital; 467 antapodidomi (an-tap-od-ee’-domee): KJV— recompense, render, repay.

Here Jesus made it clear what is truly needful; Luke 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Please read what Jesus told the multitude; “John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” Now here is an example given by Jesus Christ, for those that were to be invited to a feast. Now this is not the so called GIFT giving as pre-mentioned, but TRUE GIFT giving, and Christians MUST be of the TRUTH, John17:16-17. Note the definition of GIFT (g¹ft) n. 1. Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without (1)compensation; “Luke 14:12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor

It is of SPECIAL CONCERN, when those professing to be of the one body, the church of and by Christ (Matt.16:13-20; Eph.3:21), observe such traditions and doctrines in any manner. For there are those that say, “We don’t observe these days in a religious manner, but in a SECULAR one”; REALLY? Definition: SEC·U·LAR adj. 1. Worldly rather than spiritual; Earthly, earthy, materialistic, ultra mundane, Temporal, Terrestrial, Physical, Carnal, mortal, World. How can those of the one faith even think about “secular” DAYS, let alone be PARTAKERS of them, and then call Him Lord, Lord. “Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? See also Matt 7:21-24. These practices cause those of the one faith, to be idolaters; lukewarm, doubled minded enemies of the CROSS of CHRIST, minding SECULAR things. Followers of Christ must reprove those things that cannot be found in the Apostles’ doctrine, rather than participate in them (see Eph. 5: 6-17). We must be the (1)SALT of the earth, not mind the things of the earth, thereby being the (2)LIGHT of the world (Matt.5:13-16), rather than being (3)conformed to this world (Rom.12:1-2). Definitions: (1)SALT of the earth-217 halas (hal’-as);from 251; salt; figuratively, prudence: circumspect, wise, levelheaded, sound, sensible, reasonable: (Foolish antonym), (hear Col .4:56 also). (2)LIGHT of the world -5457 phos (foce); used of truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it. What is exposed to the view of all, openly, publicly. (3)rather than being CO FORMED to this world-4964 suschematizo (sooskhay-mat-id’-zo);from 4862 and a derivative of 4976; to fashion alike, i.e. conform to the same pattern (figuratively): KJV— conform to, fashionself according to.4862 sun (soon);a primary preposition denoting union; with or together (but much closer than 3326 or 3844), i.e. by association, companionship, process, resemblance, possession, instrumentality, addition, etc.: KJV— beside, with. LUKEWARM: Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art (1)lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will (2)spue thee out of my mouth. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. There are many souls involved in many things that are not of the Body that Christ is the HEAD of (Col.1:18). The Church that Christ is the head of, MUST be subject unto Christ in everything; “Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head

of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is (1)subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.” Definition: (1)Subject unto Christ -5293 hupotasso; to subordinate; reflexively, to obey: KJV— be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection), submit self unto.

WOE unto any man that tries to put Christ into anything, or make him the reason for anything! Man is the CREATURE, Christ is the CREATOR; please read John1:15; Col. 1:12-20. Christians MUST heed the warning of the apostle Peter, whom some erroneously calls the first “Pope”. This is error simply because, the word, Pope, can not be found anywhere in the inspired scriptures of the Holy Bible. However, the one GOD (Eph.4:1-6), which is in heaven, the Only Holy Father, Jesus the Only Christ (Matt.23:5-12), and his Apostles are found in the bible. Christians MUST remember that Peter, one of the apostles and one of the elders, warns the Church that Christ is the HEAD of, to beware of cunningly devised fables; but first note what the apostle Paul says, then the apostle Peter, as they were guided by The Holy Ghost; “Gal 2:6. But, of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: 7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)”(KJV) 1 Pet 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,(KJV) 1 Pet 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: (listen to 2Pet.1:1 also) 2 Pet 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16 For we have (1)not followed (2)cunningly devised (3)fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Definitions: (1) ot followed1811 exakoloutheo (ex-ak-ol-ootheh’-o); from 1537 and 190; to follow out, i.e. (figuratively) to imitate, obey, yield to: KJV— follow.b) to follow one’s authority. (2) Cunningly devised-4679 sophizo (sof-id’-zo);from 4680; to render wise; in a sinister acceptai.e. continue, to teach plausible [believable] error: KJV— cunningly devised, a) to invent, to

play the sophist b) to devise cleverly or cunningly. (3) Fables3454 muthos (moo’-thos); perhaps from the same as 3453 (through the idea of tuition); a tale, i.e. fiction (“myth”): KJV— fable.2) a narrative, story b) a fiction, a fable, an invention, a falsehood

“PEACE O EARTH” Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a (1)manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.(KJV) Definition:(1)manger 5336 phatne (fat’-nay); from pateomai (to eat); a crib (for fodder), man·ger (m³n“j…r) n. A trough or an open box in which feed for livestock is placed.: KJV— manager, stall. This is what the Angels declared at the LOWLY birth of Jesus Christ in the flesh. For we must remember, Jesus was in the beginning (John1:1-14), but he became a little lower than angels, as God sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (Rom.8:1-9; Gal.4:4-5; Heb.2:7-10). This declaration that was made by the angels is heard often this time of the year. Peace on earth can ONLY exist if ALL men DENY themselves, and suffer to obey Christ through his apostles’ word, doctrine, traditions and commands; as God has commanded (Matt. 17:1-8; 28:18-20; John17:15-24; Acts2:41-42; 2Thes.2:14-17; 2Pet.3:1-2; 1John 4:5-6). Christ’s will have always been good toward men, but man must first have a change of MIND (repentance). “2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,” But man wants to have it his own way. He wants to be able to choose his own way to be righteous with God, thereby causing division, variance and confusion. According to Christ and His apostles; because of man’s SCRIPTURAL ignorance (Matt.22:29), REBELLIOUS ways (Luke 6:46-49); and because man loves his life, the WORLD and the THINGS that are IN it (John12:25-26; 1John 2:15-17), there is and there will be no peace on earth (Matt.10:3238; Luke 12:51-53). tion, to form “sophisms”,

WHAT IS TRUTH? HAPPY HOLIDAYS Jesus said he didn’t come to send peace, but a sword, which is the WORD. If we are Christians we MUST believe what Christ says. Do we not want to know the truth? “Matt 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, *but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me” (hear also Luke9:57-62). “Heb 4: 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any *two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (hear also Eph.6:17). “Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, ay; but rather division: 52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

KJV— avoid, withdrawself. (2)walketh 4043 peripateo- to walk: b) Hebrew for, to live 1) to regulate one’s life 2) to conduct oneself. (3)disorderly 814 ataktos-1) disorderly, out of ranks (often so of soldiers) 3) deviating from the prescribed order or rule

Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:(KJV) Matt 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. 15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. 16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? (see also Matt.13:15) Matt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.(KJV) Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.(KJV) Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Because of the insistence of many on following cunningly devised fables, rather than the more sure WORD of prophecy by the apostles, there is confusion. Since many are resolved to follow blindly, teachers that are false, without proving them by the apostles’ doctrine, there is variance. Because many have chosen to follow the traditions and commandments of men, rather than those of the apostles, which would make PEACE and make us ALL ONE in Christ, there is, and there MUST be DIVISION; Please hear: “II Th 3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye (1)withdraw yourselves from every brother that (2)walketh (3)disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.”

II Th 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.(KJV)

Definitions: (1)withdraw yourselves from every brother-4724 stello (stel’-lo); probably strengthened from the base of 2476; properly, to set fast (“stall”), i.e. (figuratively) to repress (reflexively, abstain from associating with):

wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.(KJV)

Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; 14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. 2 Pet 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.(KJV) 2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:(KJV) I Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.(KJV) Note the apostle Paul as he admonished the Church in Corinth, Philippi and Thessalonica, as he and they, the apostles were guided by The Holy Ghost: “1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” “Phil 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” “II Th 3:4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”(KJV) Our hope is, that all striving to be Christians, according to the apostles’ doctrine (Acts1:1-4; Acts2:41-42), will become in the future, SPIRITUALLY MINDED and not the SECULARLY MINDED ones that WE ARE. Please hear; “ Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many

of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” “Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. ow if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” “2 Cor 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” “Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the

deceitful (1)lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” “Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 (2)Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 (3)Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.” (KJV)

Definitions:(1)deceitful lusts1939 epithumia (ep-ee-thoomee’-ah); from 1937; a longing, craving (especially for what is forbidden): KJV— concupiscence, desire, lust (after). (2)Set your affection on things above, NOT on things on the earth -5426 phroneo (fron-eh’-o); from 5424; to exercise the mind, i.e. entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience), to feel, to think c) to be of the same mind, that is, agreed together, to cherish the same views, to be harmonious 3) to direct one’s mind to a thing, to seek, to strive for: KJV— set the affection on, (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, mind (-ed), regard, savour, think. (3)Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth-3499 nekroo (nekro’-o); from 3498; to deaden, i.e. (figuratively) to subdue, 1) to make dead, to put to death, to slay 3) to deprive of power, to destroy the strength of: KJV— be dead, mortify. When one professes to belong to Christ (Christian), and chooses NOT to be doers of the Word and work, (James 1:21-25) but chooses to be spotted with the world (James1:27) and chooses to love the world and the things that are in it, this makes one not of the Father (1John2:15-17). According to scripture, this also makes one an adulterer or an adulteress, choosing to be a friend of this world (James4:4-10). Again, according to scripture, one that chooses to love their life in this world, shall lose their life (eternally)

WHAT IS TRUTH? HAPPY HOLIDAYS John12:23-26. Remember, if one, because of his/her own BELLY, chooses to mind earthly things, including the traditions of men, according to scripture this makes one the enemy of the Cross of Christ (Phil.3:16-20)! This then according to SCRIPTURE, makes one a DENIER of Christ and the Father rather than a DENIER of oneself (Luke 9:22-26). This also makes one an A TICHRIST 1John2:22-23!

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself (1)unspotted from the world. (KJV) Definitions: (1) keep himself unspotted 784 aspilos (as’-peelos); from 1 (as a negative particle) and 4695; unblemished (physically or morally) 1) spotless 2) metaphorically, a) free from censure, irreproachable b) free from vice, unsullied: KJV— without spot, unspotted. (2)from the world 2889 kosmos (kos’-mos); 6) the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ 7) world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc., which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ: KJV— adorning, world. I Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a (1)liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is (2)antichrist, that (3)denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that (4)acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 26 These things have I written unto you

concerning them that seduce you.(KJV)

Definitions:(1)Who is a liar-5583 pseustes (psyoos-tace’); from 5574; a falsifier, liar 2) one who breaks faith: KJV— liar. (2)He is antichrist-500 antichristos (antee’-khris-tos); from 473 and 5547; an opponent of the Messiah, the adversary of the Messiah: KJV— antichrist. 473 anti (antee’); a primary particle; opposite, i.e. instead or because of : KJV— for, in the room of. Often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, etc. (3)that denieth the Father and the Son-720 arneomai (ar-neh’-omahee); perhaps from 1 (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of 4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, 2) to deny someone, 4) not to accept, to reject, to refuse something offered, abnegate: KJV— deny, refuse.(see reject and belief John12:44-50; John17:17-24). (4)he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also-3670 homologeo (hom-ol-og-eh’-o); from a compound of the base of 3674 and 3056; i.e. covenant, acknowledge, 1) to say the same thing as another, that is, to agree with, to assent 2) to concede a) not to refuse b) not to deny: KJV— con- (pro-) fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise. We believe that there are some that perceive, understand and even believe these truths; but because of different reasons, do not choose to accept them. We believe that weakness maybe one reason. We also believe that such ones might ask these questions: “How can I tell my wife, husband, children, or friends?” “How can I tell my father, mother, or kindred, that these are truths?” The question should be: “How can a Christian, i.e. follower of Christ, not tell the truth to all (the truth being the WORD)”, (John17:16-17)? Followers of Christ through his apostles MUST tell the TRUTH at all times, for no lie is of the truth, and there is no lie in Christ (James 3:14; 1John 1:5-10 & 2:21-29). Christians must be strong in the faith, not in a faith, and have been instructed to quit like men. “1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, (1)quit you like men, be strong.” Warning, for being timid, “fearful”; causes damnation. “Rev 21:8 But the (1)fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Definitions: (1)quit you like men-407 andrizomai (an-drid’zom-ahee);middle voice from 435; to act manly, 2) to show oneself a man, be brave: KJV— quit like men. (1)fearful 1169 deilostimid, fearful We believe that pride may be another reason for the refusal of the truth, in that we don’t like admitting that we have been wrong. Jesus said that pride, among other things is evil, and defileth the man. Listen: Mark 7:20-23; Mark 9:43-48. This is

true because first of all and most of all Jesus said it. Secondly, when it hinders one from saving his own soul and the souls of others, by not admitting the truth by the word, can anything be more evil? Remember, among other things the WORD is profitable for correction: 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. We must not be too proud to accept the WORD; after all it is Christ John1:1-18, and it is what will judge us in the last day John12:46-50. We must change our minds and then our ways if we want to be SAVED, “Repent” (Mark 9:43-48; Rom. 12:1-2; 2Pet.3:8-18).

mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (Hear also Luke 4:1-13; 1John5:19-21; Rev.12:9 and 13:6-9)

Jesus tells us by scriptures of the few that chooses not to follow man, but will find and accept the Word; and the many that will not accept it (please listen Matt.7:1329 and 22:14). The apostle Paul even speaks of those that follows not the Word, because of being blinded by the god of this world, “the Devil”; please listen: “2 Cor 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the (1)righteous (2)scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of

their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Definitions: (1)righteous-1342 dikaios-righteous, observing divine laws. (2)scarcely be saved -3433 molis (mol’-is); probably by var. for 3425; with difficulty, 2) not easily, very rarely: KJV— hardly, scarce (-ly), + with much work. Dear reader again, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the preponderance of scriptures; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of scripture. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and Salvation; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our Map to HEAVEN! ATHLETE OF THE WEEK DARRELL COLBERT - LAMAR On a cold gusty wind day at Delmar Stadium senior QB Darrell Colbert hit on 15 of 27 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Late in the first period Colbert connected to fleet-footed Shelby Walker on

26 and 53 yards plays that setup Ronnie Wesley’s one yard plunge. The offense stalled for a while until the second half as Colbert found tight end Justin Hollie from 9 yards out for a touchdown in the third period.

Colbert then hit fleet-footed receiver Shelby Walker from 34 yards out less than three minutes later to put the game out of reach. The excited Colbert is ready to go against Pearland because in his sophomore year it was Pearland that eliminated them from the state playoffs. “We will be ready for them come Friday” The two teams hook up at Mercer Stadium at 1:00 PM for a chance to go the regional title game a week later. Colbert the son of former Beaumont Westbrook state championship receiver Darrell Colbert who went to play at TSU and the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. “Yes sir you know he tells us about his state title team from Westbrook 31 years ago but I want to win one as well”. Speaking about the past Colbert feels the team has rallied to get

back to the state because they don’t want to have the same feeling when they lost in the state title game last year. Colbert went on to say everyday his team works hard to see to it that they are ready to play on game day. “I don’t feel too much pressure because our coaches do a very good job of putting us in position to win ballgames and we are getting good play from some of our younger players”. Colbert went to add the Redskins had two big-name players to leave to college, but they still have six Division I players on their squad this year who are stepping up right now. “Our defense is playing very well much like the one did a year ago”. In closing we consider ourselves to be blessed when we can chat with such a fine youngster and a great football player 31 years

RISING STARS: TREVOR O’REILLY - REAGAN - RONNIE WESLEY - LAMAR By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View TREVOR O’REILLY REAGA It’s been a long time since we’ve seen such a great two-way football player at a position that requires a lot of contact. But Trevor O’Reilly of Reagan spent time as a full-back blocking for Tavon Dodd all game long as well as playing linebacker in the Bulldogs’ 7-0 win over Tomball Memorial. But with the game at 7-0 and Wildcats driving it was O’Reilly who made the key stops including a fourth down play. Then as it came for time to run out the clock Coach Stephen Dixon and his staff called on O’Reilly to carry the lead and he made the key runs to pick up the first down the seal the win. It was the 10th win of the season for the Bulldogs against only 1 defeat. Maybe

we should say that again because some might find it hard to believe, yes Reagan won 10 games this year. The 6 feet one inch 245 pound senior was not to be the denied a chance to play

in week twelve by Tomball Memorial. “Normally I’m a fullback but they wanted me to run the ball so I just ran hard”. O’Reilly went onto say he feels the team is doing well and coach Dixon has been doing a wonderful job and they are now building a staff so they are going to do well for years to come. It was O’Reilly who scored on a 10-yard run the Bulldogs only points in their 21-7 loss to Pearland-Dawson. RO IE WESLEY-LAMAR

As the Lamar Redskins rolled to their 12th win of the season against no defeats Ronnie Wesley continues to blossom. The junior 5 feet 9 inch running back is a solid 175 pounds and runs very hard. Teaming with former Studewood Cobra Levy (Smokey) Whiteing giving the Skins some balance at running

back as full back, James Williams leads the way for both of them. We spoke with Wesley who scored in the game and gathered some of his thoughts. “It was really a hard game and all playoffs teams are good but we were able to do whatever it took to win the game”. As we talked more with Wesley he brought up the fact his teammate Whiteing had some advice for him. “Yeh Smoke told me they (Lions) were going for the strip so he told me to hold on to the ball and run hard”. The Skins have a real good defense and it has to make the job of the offense little easier. “Yes sir I’d say our defense won the game for us today with them allowing no points, we just had to score in order to win the game”. In closing Wesley made it clear from here on in all games are going to be dog fights and

Lamar must continue to play well in order to keep winning games! Truer words were never spoken and the Redskins have that in mind and will face Pearland on Friday at Mercer at 1:00 PM.
