Behind The Wheel With THE KING (Arthur Prayther)
CAMARO SS CONVERTIBLE Do you want to go real fast? Well we’ve got just the vehicle for you. We tested the new Chevy Camaro SS Convertible the other week and let me tell you the story. First of all the new styling really gets the attention of even the people who may not like sport vehicles. This baby came powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine that produces 426 horsepower and it still runs on regular unleaded gasoline. However if you want to take full advantage of the performance you can run premium in it as well. Let us not forget we are still talking about 16 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles gallon on the highway. All this is warranted for five-year/100,000 miles and please see your local Chevy Dealer for details. The engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission and the unit is equipped with a limited slip differential, a performance suspension and power variable ratio steering. We are talking about serious open air driving fun here. General Motors is making a big comeback and Chevy is taking center stage by putting quality products on the road like the all new Camaro SS Convertible. With 66% of its parts from the United States and Canada with only 15% coming from Mexico,
the new Camaro is just about All-American as baseball. The final assembly point is Oshawa, Ontario, Canada with the engine built right in the U.S. and the transmission built in Mexico Safety certainly comes to mind in a vehicle with this much power under the hood. So airbags, driver and front passenger dual stage frontal with passenger sensing devices. Front seat mounted air bags along with side-impact airbags. A free sixmonth setup of On Star directions and connections, with automatic crash response and turnby-turn navigation geographic coverage is available. Stability trak with traction control, Brembo performance brakes with four-wheel disc antilock system makes stopping the
Camaro just about as much as it is to drive it. Other features such as theft deterrent system and tire pressure monitoring system. It even has latch system for child seats along with emergency trunk release and battery rundown protection. All the fun starts once those P245/45ZR 20 X 8 inch performance tires up front hits the ground. They are followed by P275/40ZR 20 X 9 inch performance tires. We are talking about racecar like performance here. Those tires are neatly wrapped around a set of flangeless painted aluminum wheels with midnight silver finish. This goes well with the Cyber Gray Metallic paint job on this marvelous machine.
with leather wrapped stitching wheel with accent stitching on door handles armrest and console. At the time of our test drive the frontal crash and side crash rating had not been done but the roll over is rated a five-star from the NHTSA.

TOYOTA YARIS 4-DOOR SEDAN SOLID-ECONOMICALLY SOUND BUY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Missouri City, Texas-This past week we test drove the 2011 Toyota Yaris and found it to be a quality economically small sedan. Room inside was probably the biggest plus because as you know in the old days vehicles came with subcompact title were just that. But over the years Toyota has seen to it this vehicle have much more room. Considering the fact it was three of us in the vehicle all over 200 pounds. The back seat room was the biggest surprise for us. Under the hood is a 1.5 Liter DOHC 16 valve four-cylinder VVT-I engine that gets 29 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway. It’s matted to a four-speed automatic transmission and is front wheel driven. An Independent MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear suspension provides a pretty good ride. Equipped with electric power steering and electric throttle control with intelligence, the new Yaris handles pretty well. This little peppy vehicle’s power rolls to the pavement on P175/65R 14 inch tires and has fancy looking wheel covers.
Stopping the Yaris comes from ventilated front disc and rear drum brakes. Star safety system includes VSC, Trac and antilock brakes with EBD and assist and smart stop technology. The vehicle also comes with a full set of air bags and side curtains as well as outboard rear seat position. Child protection rear doors and 3-point seatbelt in all seats positions closes out the safety features for the new Yaris. With a base price of $14,515, the Yaris we tested has an optional equipment package that took it up to $18,533. Some of those options were sport package, cruise control, color-keyed front and underbody spoilers, side rocker panels, rear spoiler and a Unique S badge. The list goes on to cover front passenger sport seats with sport fabric and leather trimmed steering wheel along with gear shift knob. Sounds come from an AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability XM compatible and auxiliary audio jacks CD text display function. This system may require addition hardware and subscription. In closing we want to add the trunk space was also surprising big as well.

TOYOTA PRIUS GIVES NEW MEANING TO ECONOMICS By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View As the cost of living continues to go up it’s becoming more important to figure out ways to cut the cost. One such way is the way you drive. Well Toyota Motor Sales has stepped up to the plate and smacked a home run with the new 2011 Prius. With more than one million vehicles sold in America, the Prius is quickly becoming the standard for City Municipalities throughout America. Fact is the Prius is so efficient to operate it’s a smart decision to purchase them. Take for example most city operations normally have a great deal of waste in their operation. Well the Prius has reduced that waste due to the fact they are so efficient to operate. Let’s just start by saying the new Prius is powered by a 1.8 Liter DOHC 16 valve-VVT-I In-line four cylinder engine. This power hits the ground on P195/65R15 tires circulating around a 15 inch alloy wheels. The vehicle is equipped with electric power steering further reducing the load on the engine. All this translates into fewer stops at the gas pump. The Prius gets 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 miles on the highway. This gives you an estimate of less than 900 dollars for fuel during the course of an average 15,000 miles driven year at 3.00 dollars per gallon. Tell me how can you beat that? The Prius is now registered as a mid-size vehicle is the future of the automobile industry staring
us in the face. Keep in mind we told you this in 2000 when we first tested the Prius with the steering wheel on the right side. We tested one of the first eight models that landed in America and keep in mind they had been out in Japan since 1997. Not everyone has an opportunity to do what we do with the automobile industry. That’s why we feel so obligated to report the fact to you here at A King-Size View. The Prius not only has an outstanding upside when it comes to economics but Toyota has also made the appearance a lot better. The rear has a deeper slant and the styling is upgraded with the lights giving off a better flare. A rear spoiler and blue accent badge goes well with fold away side mirrors.
battery, electric motor or the gasoline engine. Toyota’s arrangement with JML is certainly a great thing when it comes to stereos as JBL ranks at the top of the list. Throw in a navigation system complete with backup camera, AM/FM fourdisc CD changer with eightspeakers you can jam with the
best of them. The blue tooth wireless and other safety connection including emergency assistance stolen vehicle locator and roadside assistance and automatic collision notification. Plus a one year trial subscription and voice activated touch screen DVD.
Standard warranties are threeyear/38,000 mile basic coverage, five-year/80,000 mile power train coverage plus fiveyear/unlimited mile corrosion perforation coverage. In closing please allow me to add an extended service contract may be available also.
The front grille and overall styling is also enhanced for this model year. During our test run the Prius had not been rated for frontal and side crashes but the rollover came in at a four-star rating by the NHTSA. Safety is at a premium for the Prius also with ABS brakes, driver and front passenger airbags with side curtains airbags and driver and front passenger active head rest and driver side knee bags. Keep in mind most of these features are commonly found on luxury sedans with much bigger price tags. Inside the Prius is a simply instrument cluster that includes the operation for the hybrid system and giving the driver an upto-date account of how the vehicle is being powered from the

ALL NEW LEXUS CT 200h PREMIUM RAISING ECONOMIC STANDARDS FOR LUXURY VEHICLES By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-In the old days when you bought a luxury vehicle you expected to get poor fuel economy, but that is no longer the case. Take for example the All-New Lexus CT 200h premium sedan gets 43 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles gallon on the highway. Keep in mind this vehicle is simply a cut above and ahead of the game when it comes to combining luxury and economics. Fact is this model has room for four full size guys to make a trip as far away as Austin for us. Let me remind you that our group had men over 200 pounds and there was ample room in the front and back. When you see the new CT 200h you first think it’s smaller than it really is and once you are inside you find out. The interior for this hybrid drive vehicle is just like that of the regular luxury sedans from Lexus. The instrument cluster is the same with the exception of the gauges that keeps the driver informed on the way the engine, electric motor along with the hybrid system works. Please allow me to remind you when the engine goes off and on you do not notice anything at all. But the gauges constantly show you where the source of your power is coming from as well as what’s
the economic operation at the speed you are going. For example if you are going 55 miles per hour the vehicle will get about 50 miles per gallon at that speed while operation in electric drive mode, but once you need power certainly those numbers drop off a bit. Under the hood is a 1.8 Liter inline four-cylinder DOHC w/VVT-I engine with electric drive motor with Lexus Hybrid drive. This system is mated to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT). It also has electric power rack and pinion steering, four-wheel suspension and fourwheel power assisted front and rear disc brakes. Power rolls to the pavement on P215/45R 17 inch All-season tires wrapped around a 17 inch aluminum alloy wheel. We are talking
about smooth sailing here. Again we say combining sport, luxury and economic has always been a strong point for Lexus. A full supply of safety features normally found on luxury vehicles are all here on the CT 200h Premium. Anti-lock brakes with EBD and BA as well as VSC and ETAC along with electronic throttle control system. There are side curtains front and side air bags along with passenger knee airbags.
mile corrosion perforation warranty. Throw in the fact Lexus is offering new owner 24-hour/365 days roadside assistance plan with complimentary 1st and 2nd scheduled maintenance services and emergency lodging for break downs that are 100 miles from home. Our test vehicle fully equipped with sun roof came in at just
over $38,000. Not bad to say the least! In closing please allow me to add the Premium audio package comes with 10-speakers, in-dash six-disc CD changer and HDD Navigation system with backup monitor as well as one-year trial subscription to Lexus Insider, Voice Command, XM NavTraffic, XM Nav-Weather and XM Sports to name a few!
Yes I would say for a small sedan the new 200h from Lexus is a bit ahead of the class and has raised the bar. Lexus New vehicle warranties include four-year/50,000 mile basic coverage and fiveyear/70,000 power train coverage plus five-year/unlimited

VETERAN OF THE MONTH: LONNIE BENNETT
Out and About with John Engel People join the military for a variety of reasons. Some are motivated to serve for patriotic reasons, others for a steady income and education. Still others join because it is a family tradition. Lonnie Bennett joined partly because he was following in his father Tommy, a 27 year veteran of the Air Force, inspired him to serve. During his career, Tommy worked in many locations with the Security Police. Upon leaving the a Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant the elder Bennett worked in private industry in the loss prevention and security field. Lonnie, born on January 28, 1969 in Vandenberg, California, the fourth of five children, he lived a majority of his early life near New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated high school and attended Southern University in New Orleans. After attempting various careers including retail, Lonnie decided he wanted a more secure lifestyle and was motivated to support his country, so in 1990 he joined the Air Force. This was all happening around the time the situation in the Middle East was heating up. Although Tommy was not fully behind Lonnie, Lonnie joined anyway and went off to training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. After basic, Bennett was sent to Chanute Air Force Base in central Illinois for advanced training. There he learned to be a fire fighter.
but went TDY (Temporary Duty Assignment) to Moron, Spain. Moron was the jump off point to troops heading into the Desert Storm war. Sent to Spain in a plane with the lights off and not told where they were headed, Bennett was not even sure it was really happening when the plane left. In Saudi Arabia, Lonnie worked in a crash rescue squadron. He saw action when an A-10 Warthog went down and again when a commercial flight of civilians and soldiers required a rescue crew. Another memory that stays with him to this day is the time he was working the phones as a 911 operator in the military. A call came in that involved a child that was not breathing and had turned blue. He knew when he received the call that the result would not be positive, but he had to go through the motions reassure the parent until help arrived. He remembers that he could not wait to get home and kiss his baby and tell her that he loved her. One more time, he was supporting a local fire team and went into a duplex to rescue children that were supposed to be in the home. It turned out that the children had escaped but he was able to save the family pet. A local newspaper printed a photo of Bennett leaving the house with the dog in his arms. The dog made it!
Being an Air Force fire fighter is in many ways different than being a civilian fire fighter. In the Air Force you may deal with burning aircraft, live ammunition and many other hazards civilian firemen will never experience.
At another scene he went through the roof of a house. A beam hit his helmet and cracked it. The helmet saved his life. To this day he has the helmet as a reminder of how precious life can be.
During his career, the military fire crews supported local fire teams and fought fires near military bases. Lonnie’s first fire was a mobile home near England AFB. He remembers being on the truck, strapped on and seeing the bright orange sky at 2:00 in the morning. It is an experience he will never forget.
Before he left, Lonnie met Melinda. After basic training, he decided to marry her and the have been together for over 20 years. Their marriage resulted in three beautiful girls. After four years of military service, Bennett was seeking a career that would allow him to support his family.
Lonnie spent a year at England AFB in Alexandria, Louisiana
Fire fighting jobs were had to come by in Louisiana so he went
to work driving a truck for a long haul carrier. At the urging of his family, he decided to leave the cross country life and go to work for a company that would allow him to be with his family at night. He came to Conway Freight. Starting as a driver and moving up to a Supervisor, he later became a Manager of Safety. Bennett was recognized by the Louisiana Motor Truck Association as the Safety Professional of the Year in 2010. He is the first African American to achieve this honor. He is also a Certified Director of Safety and dedicated to making out roads safer by educating and promoting trucking safety. Lonnie, for your service to your country, both in and out of the military we salute you!

THE 2ND ANNUAL KEVIN MARSHALL FOUNDATION CONFERENCE, MARCH, AND RALLY WAS MAGNIFICENT By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View To God Be The Glory for the success of the 2nd Annual Kevin Marshall Foundation Conference, March and Rally. The theme this year was 100+ Men, Rebuilding the Walls of Protection Around the Family. Sis. Marshall stated that “God rained down his anointing as the K. “the proof of that was seen in the smiles of the elementary, high school and college students as they experienced through drama, the devastating impact gun violence has on the family and community. A cast led by True Light’s MEN took us to new heights in drama. Kudos to Rev. WHAT IS TRUTH: THE LAW WAS GIVEN BY MOSES Many in the religious world today believe that if they just keep the The Ten Commandments, given by Moses from God, they will be right with God (righteous). This is a dangerous belief, because according to scripture nothing can be farther from The Truth. We believe by scripture, there is a distinct difference in the two laws, even to whom they were given. As we study, we believe that through the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURE, and definitions, this will be proven. This allows SCRIPTURE TO INTERPRET SCRIPTURES, thereby exposing error as we search for what is TRUTH. To whom did Moses give The Old Law, The Old Testament, The Law of Moses (which include the Ten Commandments), along with the traditions and customs thereof? This should be the question. We believe you will find by scripture, it was given to the Children of Israel, not to the Church that Christ is building (Matt.16:13-18; Acts2:46-47), and is the head of (Eph.5:23-33; Col.1:12-20; 2:1-23), thereby not to Christians. Please get your bible and follow this study! THE LESSO : THE LAW WAS GIVE BY MOSES John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (KJV) Exod 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 13 Thou shalt not kill. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s. 18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. 19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. 20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. 21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. 22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.KJV) Deut 4:44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel: 45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,(KJV) Deut 5:1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. 2 TheLORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.(KJV) There are many in the religious world today proclaiming to be “Christ-ians”, the name itself indicates ownership. Just because we proclaim it, doesn’t make it so, please read; Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: There are many proclaiming to believe on Christ, but they are doing things their own way. Dear reader, we must remember, please read; James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? If it just takes BELIEF to make it in, then we MUST conclude devils will be in HEAVEN. Because, according to scripture, not only do they believe, they TREMBLE. Make no mistake, DEVILS will NOT be there and NEITHER will WE, if we don’t SUFFER to DO the will of the FATHER which is in HEAVEN. According to Matt.17:1-8, God’s will is done through Christ and his apostles (Matt.28:18-20; John17:17-21), thereby continuing steadfast in the apostle’s doctrine (Acts2:4142). There are things that are put in place for worship, and observances that are followed, that cannot be found in the apostles’ doctrine. Let’s look briefly at some examples: Easter which means Passover and includes unleavened bread, and the Sabbath. These things were given by God through Moses, only to the children of Israel and those under the Old Law. There were many other things to be observed such as Circumcision, Stonings, Animal Sacrifices, Blood Sprinklings, Burnt and Blood Offerings etc. These things including ALL the rest had to be followed circumspectly (sure) Exodus 23:13, see also verses 1-19; Deut.5:1-33etc. When one proclaims to be a Christian and observes Easter, which means Passover and has not observed ALL things given under the Old Law, it then becomes a STRANGE DOCTRINE. It is strange because neither Testament; Old or New has been circumspectly (exactly) observed, but has been mingled. This makes the Doctrine neither of Moses nor of Christ through his apostles (please read; Heb.13:9; Gal.5:1-9). Here is another great example, of a strange mingled Doctrine, “Christian Sabbath” one of the most conflicting and confusing. We must remember God is not the author of confusion (1Cor.14:33). The Sabbath was to be observed by the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, on the seventh day “Saturday“ Exodus 20:8-11 NOT the first day of the
week “Sunday” “Acts 20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.” There were NO Apostle’s Doctrine (Acts2:41-42) when the instructions were given for The Sabbath to the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL. They were followers of GOD through Moses, not Christ. Likewise there are NO instructions given to The Church of and by Christ, for The Sabbath or any of the mention observances, including EASTER. Christians MUST be followers of GOD through CHRIST and his APOSTLES as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. It is certain these are observances that have been put in place by man because, they cannot be found in the apostles’ word which is found in New Testament Scripture. We cannot have it our way, if we belong to Christ “Christ-ians” we must do it His way because, we are NOT our own, we have been bought with a price (1Cor.6:19-20). Christians must deny themselves, take up the cross daily, and follow him, (Matt.16:2326; Mark8:33-37; Luke 9:2226). The blueprint of The One Body, The One Church (Eph.4:4; Col.1:18) that Christ is building(Matt.16:18; Acts2:47), is found in The Apostles’ Doctrine, which is in New Testament Scriptures; and it must be also followed circumspectly (Eph.5:14-17). Now let us read in The Apostles’ Doctrine as it defines those that belong to CHRIST, NOT Moses. He that hath an ear let him hear, and then strive to do. To whom did Jesus Christ give The New Law, The New Testament, The Law of Christ (seeGal.6:2)? This should also be the question. This law includes the commandments of Christ given to His Apostles by him and through the Holy Ghost, Matt.28:19-20; John 16:1-16; 17:1-16). It is also with the traditions and customs thereof. We believe you will find by scripture, it is to be taught to all nations (see Matt.28:16-20) and is to be observed by The Church, “Christians”: those that choose to believe on Christ through the Apostle’s word (John17:17-22; Acts 2:41-42), instructions and commandments (1Cor.11:1-3; Eph.3:1-9; Pet.3:1-3; 1John 4:5-6; Jude 1:17-18); “2Cor. 11:2 For I am jealous over you
with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.(KJV) 2 Cor 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?(KJV) 2 Cor 3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.(KJV) Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (see Gal.5:3-5 the whole Law, also James 2:10-12)(KJV) Heb 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,(KJV) John 1:17 ... GRACE A D TRUTH CAME BY JESUS CHRIST. (KJV) John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.(KJV)

WHAT IS TRUTH: THE LAW WAS GIVEN BY MOSES Matt 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.(KJV) Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.(KJV) Let’s read as Jesus was teaching the Jews to follow him and OT Moses. John 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?(KJV) John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.(read also John10:34, 15:25) John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.(KJV) John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.(KJV) Let’s read; John 17:17-21 as Jesus was praying to his Father
for his disciples, the apostles. Not only was he praying for his apostles, but was praying for ALL that will believe on him through the apostles’ word. Thereby having NO divisions as it is today; so that we ALL will be ONE as he and his Father, and ALL ONE IN THEM.
Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (please read verses 14-16 also) (KJV)
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.(KJV)
Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.(KJV)
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.(KJV) Acts 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. 35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: 37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. (no decay of body after death) 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.(KJV) Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.(KJV) Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into
Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(KJV) 2 Cor 1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.(KJV) Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.(KJV) Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.(KJV) Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the
law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;(KJV) Phil 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:(KJV) (read also Col.2:1217) Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is (1)verily a (2)disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. Definitions:(1)verily-3303 men; truly, certainly, surely, indeed….(2)disannulling-115 athetesis (ath-et’-ay-sis);from 114; cancellation : KJV— disannulling, put away. Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sin-
ners, and made higher than the heavens; Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:(KJV) Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he (1)hath made the first old. Now that which (*)decayeth and (2)waxeth old is ready to (3)vanish away.(KJV) Definitions:(1) hath made the first old*decayeth-3822 palaioo (pal-ah-yo’-o); from 3820; to make (passively, become) worn out, or declare obsolete: KJV— decay, make (wax) old.1) to make ancient or old b) used of things worn out by time and use 2) to declare a thing to be old and so about to be abrogated (2)waxeth old-1095 gerasko-1) to grow old 2) used of things and institutions: to fail from age, be obsolescent. (3)vanish away854 aphanismos (af-an-ismos’);from 853; disappearance, i.e. (figuratively) abrogation: KJV— vanish away. Heb 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

WHAT IS TRUTH: THE LAW WAS GIVEN BY MOSES 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.(KJV)
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. 8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; 9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering
oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;(KJV)
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.(KJV) James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.(KJV) 2 Pet 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:(KJV) We hope that through this study, we now understand scripturally, the distinct differences in the two laws, and to whom they were given. The Old Testament is good for our learning, and it speaks of Jesus coming in the flesh, but It cannot JUSTIFY us (Acts 13:39); It cannot make ANYTHING PERFECT (Heb.7 verses 11,12, 15-19; chapter 9:9-28); It cannot take away SINS (Heb.10:3-12); It has been DISANNULLED, PUT AWAY, CANCELLED (Heb.7:15-18; Heb.8:6-8 &13); so It cannot make us RIGHTEOUS (Gal.2:21). We MUST believe on Jesus Christ to be (righteous) right with God, and our belief MUST follow the
instructions of Jesus Christ through his apostles, (see John17:16-23) not Moses, John the Baptist or any other man. In other words “if you will”, there is a new Sheriff in town (see Matt.17:1-8, 28:16-20), that was in the beginning, the only begotten of The Father, full of grace and truth (see John1:1-14); with a NEW SET OF RULES. He is the mediator “a go between” OT of the OLD TESTAMENT because Moses was, but of the NEW TESTAMENT (see Hebrews 9:15), which is in his blood (see Matt.26:28, 1Cor.11:25). He is The head of The Body, The Church (see Eph.1:20- 23, Col.1:17-20). According to CHRIST there is a NEW SET OF MINISTERS, and they are his apostles, MINISTERS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT (see 1Cor.11:1-3; 2Cor.3:5-7; Eph.3:1-9; Phlip.4:8-9; 2Pet.1:14-21; 1John 4:5-6), with a NEW SET OF COMMANDMENTS (see Acts 2:41-42; 2Thes.3:4; 2:15; 2Pet.3:1-2; Jude 1:17) that we The Church, must hear and DO to be right (righteous) with God (see Matt.17:1-8). Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.(KJV) 1 Cor 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any man (1)be ignorant, let him be ignorant.(KJV) Definition:(1)be ignorant-50 agnoeo (ag-no-eh’-o); from 1 (as a negative particle) and 3539; not to know (through lack of information or intelligence); by implication, to ignore (through disinclination): KJV— (be) ignorant (-ly), not know, not understand, unknown……. dis·in·cline (d¹s”¹n-klºn“) v. dis·in·clined, dis·in·clin·ing, dis·in·clines. —tr. 1. To make reluctant or averse. —intr. To be unwilling. 2 Pet 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16 For we have not followed (1)cunningly devised (2)fables, when we made known
unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (KJV) Definitions:(1)cunningly devised-4679 sophizo (sof-id’zo);from 4680; to render wise; in a sinister acceptation, to form “sophisms”, i.e. continue plausible,(believable) error: KJV— cunningly devised, make wise…..(2)fables-3454 muthosb) a fiction, a fable, an invention, a falsehood. There is none other worthy, but Jesus Christ. After all He is the only one that God NOW authorizes (see Matt.17:1-8; Matt. 28:18). He is the only one that suffered his whole life, here on earth (Isa.53:1-12); even at his birth in the flesh, please read; “Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a (1) manger.” Definition:5336 phatne (fat’nay);from pateomai (to eat); a crib (for fodder): KJV— manager, feed trough, stall. “Matt 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” “Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” “John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” “1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us
in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”(KJV) Then He ended his SUFFERING LIFESTYLE most cruelly on the cross, for us. He is the only one to shed his blood for the redemption of our sins, not Moses nor A Y OTHER. True Christians MUST believe on Christ ONLY in the manner that He says (John17:20-21). This will make us all ONE, in name, in practices, in traditions, in observances and in FAITH, by continuing steadfastly in HIS apostles’ Doctrine (Acts2:41-42). “Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Let’s be honest, is there any other, at any time in history, with such power, that caused what the scriptures below describe? Truly he is The Son of God, The only begotten “only born” of The Father! Please read carefully: Matt 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God. (KJV) Dear readers remember as always, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL! TO THOSE ON THE OUTSIDE DEAR SINNER HEED THIS CALL PRECIOUS is Time. Therefore while you have time, use it to learn and do Gods Commandments for at the end of life is pay time and your pay will be according as your work has been. You will find in 2 Corinthians 5:10 the following: “For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may recive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or evil.” You will find in John 15:14. “Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.” Solomon said in Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain unto wise counsel.” How shall we escape if we neglect to great Salvation: Hebrew 2:1-3 Salvation is to be worked out. It will not work itself out; God will not work it out for us. o one can work it out for us. It is the duty of man to work out his own salvation. How! With fear and trembling. Phil. 2:12. BEALOVED BROWN - BEAUMONT OZEN JAYLON HICKS - G.P. NORTH SHORE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View BEALOVED BROW BEAUMO T OZE Austin, Texas-After going to state a year ago and finishing at 6th place in both the 100 and 200 meters, Beaumont Ozen Bealoved Brown was not to be denied this time around. The charming hard running Lady Panther exploded out the blocks to take the 100 state Class 4A gold medal in a time of 11.86, just ahead of second place Natalie Poynter of Waco Midway who ran a 11.91 But the day was just beginning for Brown as she blazed to the 200 meters gold medal when she ran a 23.98. That was a pretty
good jump over Dominique Joiner of Fort Worth Southwest who ran 24.33 for second place. Oh the day was not over for Brown yet as she teamed with Jameka Fontenot, Robyn Hancock and Asia Booker to claim the gold medal in the 400 meter relay in a time of 46.82 well ahead of Arlington Seguin who ran a 47.61 and Pearland Lady Oilers came in third in a time of 47.69. With these points along with Nekia Jones winning the gold in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet 10 and one-half inches, the Lady Panthers had 60 points and it was good enough to take the Class 4A title. It eased a bitter taste in the mouth of Brown and other members of their team as they had to watch as Houston
Westbury took the Class 4A girls title last year. Arlington Seguin placed second with 50 points and Dallas Lancaster got third with 41 total points. The charming Bealoved Brown displays her three gold medalsphotos by Andre Odums JAYLO HICKS GALE A PARK Jaylon Hicks of Galena Park North Shore stayed on course and ran a 10.15 to take the gold medal in the boys’ Class 5A 100 meters. The senior also ran the second leg on the boys 4 by 100 meters teaming with Jermaine Authorlee, Maiketavius Jones and Larry Mcduffey in a time of 40.22. They used the same fantastic four to win the 4 by 200 meter relay in a time of 1.24.45. “It was really a good race, but I was a little jittery after the 4 by 100 meters relay, but I think I ran a strong race”. Hicks said in the nationals he plans to go out and run a 10 flat 100 meters. “With my time dropping I feel real good that’s a possibility for me during the summer”. The two-time State Champ went on to say the interest in track and field is up at North Shore and his teammates just want to be part of a winner. He plans to attend the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco, California, with a major in animations and also run track. “Really sir I love track but I’ve been drawing before I was running and animations is my first love”.

One thing for sure is no one in Division II is going to beat this kid fact is no one in division will probably beat him either. We think Hicks is going to do well both in the classroom and on the track in San Francisco and we are looking forward to keeping up with him. Thanks to his teammates they amazed 73 points to easily win their second straight Class 5A state championship.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK TROY WILLIAMS - C.E.KING SAN JAC-GEORGETOWN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View We’ve got a great student for you this time around. He’s the exceptional Troy Damone Williams of C.E. King High School. Williams is holding a 4.7-68 G.P.A. and graduating as Salutatorian; that’s number two in a class of 381 students. But the most interesting thing about Troy is he has already gained 68 credit hours holding a 3.69 G.P.A. at San Jacinto CollegeNorth before he graduates from C.E. King. He is the first of our Fiesta Students of the week to graduate from junior college before he finished high school. The smooth, clean cut handsome lad has already been accepted to Georgetown University. With plans of becoming the Secretary of State in the future, Williams is focused and feels good about what he wants to become in life. Having already won the Gates Millennium Scholarship FullRide Undergraduate, Master’s and Doctoral, Williams also landed the Georgetown Flavin Family Scholarship- Full-Ride Undergraduate Scholarship. Throw in the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones Scholarship, the Sam Walton Community Scholarships and Ivy League and Charities Foundation Scholarship and the Horatio Alger Association Scholarship. In laymen terms this kid is ready to get one of the finest educations of all-times and we are certainly proud to have met him and his family. Crediting a power from within that wills him to want to help get more minorities get a quality education. “A good education always leads to a better way of life”. Troy is the son of Connie and Roy Williams and they are certainly excited about their son and his accomplishments. Among his academic honors includes National Society of High School honors and perfect attendance and honor roll. With activities including Vice President of Future Business

Fact is Troy still loves to play basketball with his brothers in his spare time. When asked what he would do if he was Principal at C.E. King, Williams said he would do more to get scholarships for students because he understands education is the key. If given a chance to live over again Troy says he would pretty much follow the same path and he truly feels he has gotten the most of life so far.
Williams feel Obama has opened a big door for young blacks to inspire to be the commanding Chief of the free world. “It’s a great feeling for young man such as myself to be in position to see Mr. Obama become president and it makes me feel good that Colin Powell was Secretary of State as well as Condoleezza Rice, so I feel I’ll have a chance in due time”. Clearly praising his mother on being his most driving force in life, Troy says she has stressed to him going to school and studying hard every day. During his 12 years of school he has only missed 1 day and that’s truly outstanding.

Describing himself as a focused and driven young man, Troy says when he sets a goal he goes after it with all things in power and stays prayerful until he gets it done. In closing Williams added the CIA and other government agencies should work closer together to end human trafficking. “It is time out for slavery in any form and that’s the real reason I want to be Secretary of State.

On Sundays you’ll find the Williams family over at Lakewood Church and Troy told us what he has learned from attending the services. “Faith is the best thing I get from our church because it teaches me to understand that things happen for a reason. On the subject of the war in Iraq, Troy feels President Barack Obama is doing just about as much as he can. He also credited the President in the capture and disposal of Bin Laden. “Those are some of our country’s biggest problems and the President is doing a fine job on the War on Terror”. Fact is

A RISING STAR - DEVONTE DAVIS - G.P. NORTH SHORE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-For the second time in as many years the Mustangs of Galena Park North Shore won the boys Class 5A state title. Again it was Devonte Davis leading the way as he jumped 51 feet three and onefourth inches to take the triple jump title. But it was after a solid effort on the part of John Horton of Copperas Cove who jumped 51 feet one and three quarter inches to placed second. Davis thanked Horton for pushing him and Travis Dunn of Lubbock Coronado was third place with 49 feet and four inches. We spoke with Davis who
actually had a triple jump PR of 51 feet nine inches and he gave his team a good start as the finals unfolded at the Mike Myers Track and Field complex on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. “This time around it was really tough to win it and I give John Horton his props because he actually jumped well and on my last jump I edged him by two inches to win the state title”. Last year Davis won the title with a 50 feet dour inches and one half leap and was pushed by a teammate of his who went only 48 feet. Davis went on to say he felt he
would have to jump well to repeat as champions. Over the years the football program at North Shore has been great and the football players are joining some of the fastest guys in the nation and that makes for a great track program. Referring to Jaylon Hicks number one if the 100 meters and Jermaine Authorlee in the 200 also tops in the nation and they didn’t play football at all. The big guy is headed to University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) on a football scholarship.

COACH OF THE WEEK: GARRETT CROSS - G.P. NORTH SHORE By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-When the Mustangs of Galena Park North Shore galloped into Mike Myers track and field complex, they had one thing in mind. That was to repeat as state champions. They got off to a jump start as senior Devonte Davis leaped to a personal best 51 feet three and one-fourth inches to take the title. Keep in mind he was defending the title he won a year ago. The 10 points he scored got the team going and relay teams and their sprinters would add 63 more points as the Mustangs stampeded to the title with 73 points well ahead of the second place team with 51 points. First year head coach Garrett
Cross who was on the staff when they won the title last year talked with us after the meet. “Yeh you know when you are defending champs people come after you pretty good, but all year long our guys just kept focused on the things we could control”. Cross went on to say it’s sometimes easy for kids to feel satisfied after winning the title one year, but he and his staff stayed on them to remain hungry.
played a big role and the strive pattern just got better and better. In closing Cross says he feels good about the future of the track program at North Shore and he knows it’s impossible to replace Jaylon Hicks and Devonte Davis. “Hopefully we can keep it going because our kids have great character and they are truly following our instructions and that’s what it takes to win a state title”.

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M VOLLYEBALL STUDENT-ATHLETE MAKES HISTORY WITH PRESTIGIOUS SUMMER INTERNSHIP
A VIEW From The Stands By Ryan McGinty PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas Prairie View A&M junior volleyball student-athlete Meagan Coleman will take her talents to the West Coast over the summer
The North Shore football program is certainly one of the best in the state under Coach David Amon. Reports are Amon encourages his football stars to run track on all levels and Cross said that is truly great for the program. “Track is just an extension of our football program and our track team lost some great participants last year but our younger guys got in the weight room and kept in shape”. The power and strengthen program
after accepting an internship with nationally renowned sportswear giant Nike. A native of Lancaster,
Texas, Coleman is the first-ever Prairie View A&M student-athlete to earn the Nike internship and will be one of three interns to spend two months in Los Angeles, Calif. at Nike’s retail department. In order to be considered for an internship at Nike, Coleman had to endure an exten-
sive interview process which put plenty of emphasis on her grade point average. Coleman also had to demonstrate her passion for sports and the Nike brand in order to land the position. “Nike is much more than just the shoes and clothes you see people wear every day,” Coleman said. “I’m looking for-
ward to learning more about retail and the Nike brand.” Coleman’s internship starts on June 14 and will conclude in August as she enters her senior season as a member of the Prairie View A&M Lady Panther volleyball team.

SPEED RUNS IN THE AUTHORLEE FAMILY By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Austin, Texas-Surely you have heard the old sayings it runs in the family. If that’s true then speed runs in the Authorlee family starting with the father Anthony Authorlee senior and it came down to world class sprinter Anthony Authorlee of Ross Sterling High School in the middle 90s. Taking the state title in the 200 meters in 95 and 96 Anthony Authorlee is a well known name in track and field. It brought joy to my heart to see him at the award stand and we talked a bit. He told me he had to go and watch his brother win the title in the 200. It was then it hit me that Jermaine Authorlee who was about to run a 21 flat 200 meters and take the Class 5A title some 15 years since his brother did. Pushed by Eric Hawkins of Longview with a 21.10 and Ahmed Hall of Alief Hasting who ran a 21.22, Jermaine took the title and we talked with him afterwards. “I came out there thinking I was not fully recovered from an earlier injury. But I just want to thank God for giving me the strength to make it through”.
Authorlee went onto say the lane assignment of number 5 was good for him to see the competition. “When I say lane 6 make a push I made my push and I kept telling myself you can do this”. He did it finishing strong but he was a bit surprised at the time because he thought they were off to that good of a start. We moved to talk with Jermaine

A KING-SIZE MOVER AND SHAKER: DONNELL “FREEWAY RICKY” ROSS By Dr. Victor Keys A King-Size View Our King-Size Mover and Shaker for the month of May is Donnell “Freeway Ricky” Ross. I was introduced to Mr. Ross through a friend and once we started talking, I felt as if I had known him all my life. He is one of those rare figures whose experience as a drug kingpin has lead him to a life of rebuilding the community in which he once helped destroy. According to the ‘Oakland Tribune’ in the course of his rise, prosecutors estimated that Ross exported several tons of cocaine nationally, and made more than $600 million in the process. Now, he has applied the passion that helped him build an empire to helping the youth, Ross has been given a second chance to uplift his community by giving back through mentoring and sharing his story. He plans to inspire many of today’s youths to achieve their greatest successes without following in his footsteps. He was a key figure in filmmaker Kevin Booth’s documentary American Drug War: The Last
White Hope as well as the second episode of the first season of BET’s American Gangster documentary series which focused on his story and his connection to the Iran-Contra scandal. He is currently in the process of creating the feature length film of his life story with ick Cassevetes, and creating his autobiography ”Freeway Rick” with nationally renowned author Cathy Scott. He told me that Will Smith and Jamie Fox were interested in a movie, but he will definitely not play himself in the film. Recognized as a pawn in the CIA drug game, Ross was a pioneer in the crack cocaine trade in Los Angeles, as well as other parts of the U.S. A renowned drug dealer, Ross harvested millions as an unknowing participant of Central Intelligence Agency and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency operatives, who provided him with unlimited amounts of cocaine. It was said that his suppliers used the profits to pay for the CIAspawned Contra war against
Nicaragua’s leftist government in the 1980s. His connections were first revealed in a series of articles published by the San Jose Mercury News and in court testimony. As a youth, Donnell Ross moved to South Central Los Angeles
with his mother with the intent of playing tennis which he pursued a scholarship while attending high school. Unfortunately, his coach would later find out he was illiterate and removed him from the school. Ross then attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College and again pursued tennis, reaching the third spot on the team. Shortly after, at the early age of 19, Ross said a teacher, who taught at a job center, turned him on to cocaine. Because he looked up to him, Ross started selling cocaine for him. The money was good so he ended up starting his own business. His operation grew and he soon became one of the biggest cocaine dealers in South Central. During the height of his drug dealing, Ross was said to have made two to three million dollars a week. In 1996, he was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of trying to purchase more than 100 kilograms of cocaine from a federal agent. Ross became the subject of controversy later that year when a series of articles by journalist Gary Webb in the San Jose
Mercury News brought to light a connection between one of Ross’s cocaine sources, Danilo Blandon, and the CIA as part of the Iran-Contra scandal. The decision in his case was brought to a federal court of appeals where his sentence was reduced to 20 years and then reduced further for being a model inmate. He was then moved to a halfway house in California in the spring of 2009 where he was released on September 29, 2009. Today, Ross is a new found man. He and his wife Mychosia are the proud parents of one son. For many, having a role model only happens once or twice in a lifetime, but not for him. According to Ross, he has had numerous role models as they have changed dependent on what was going on in his life at the time. He has looked up to gangbangers as well as Arthur Ashe, but today, he is an admirer of Napoleon Hill. He added that “I hope to be the best role model for my son and everyone that is willing to help others”.

The Way I See It
WHO REALLY OWNS FRIDAY NIGHT?
By BIG John Chandler I was re-reading my past columns trying to come up with a story idea for this new month. Yet all of my ideas returned to the same topic I’ve crossed during conversations with friends all around-the current budget problems school districts around the state are facing. This relates to the athletic departments. The University Interscholastic League forbids televising Friday night football games. As money shortages grow, ESP and other networks will offer huge sums of cash to gain the rights to televise high school games. Make no mistake about it; they want to air Texas High School football games on Friday nights. I addressed this issue four years ago and my opinion hasn’t changed. Here are my thoughts on the issue understanding that school districts may be placed in a no-win situation.
pep rallies, everyone in a great mood, talking about the game and performance of the band at halftime. It was the day of the week that just was exciting from the moment I woke up to the late night calls with teammates and girls to discuss what had happened during the game. But let’s fast forward to 2007. The Friday night experience has been corrupted. That brings me to another great song from the 70’s ‘For the Love of Money’ by the O’Jays. Money always enters the equation somewhere, somehow. ESPN began several years ago violating the unwritten code of leaving the broadcast date open. They did the unthinkable. They broke the code. What did they do that is so wrong? The encouraged with a boatload of money to many small conferences the enticement of playing football games on Friday night. I still have trouble accepting it. Now before you bleeding hearts
get started let me state for the killzilloth time, I am a stone cold capitalist. I believe in the free market system. I believe anyone with a good idea can market and sell their product and reap the benefits including all the financial rewards the law allows. I would never state that ESPN couldn’t televise football games on Friday nights. But out of respect for high school athletes around the country why do it? I have trouble accepting this for numerous reasons. Maybe I’m showing my age, which I’ve found myself doing on numerous occasions since I turned forty. I grew up believing that Friday was for high schools, Saturdays for the colleges and Sunday for the pros. It worked well for everyone and I don’t remember anyone complaining about one the above listed groups crowing in on ‘their’ day. But ESPN and their bottom line network ABC, still controlled by the little black mouse Mickey (Disney) wanted programming even on Friday night. So the sport network put feelers out to small conferences around the country or others wanting the much needed exposure of net-
work television not competing with the power conferences around the country. Many athletic directors jumped at the chance. Many people voiced their displeasure of college football games being played on Friday night. So that ‘great leader’ in sport/entertainment television came up with a remedy to make things right with high school fans across the ‘fruited plain’. They decided to offer to televise high school games on Thursday night. Basically offering money to buy off the high schools, the sport network believed they got it covered. Well, excuse me but giving money to cash strapped school districts to receive their blessing for violating ‘the code’ is wrong. Youth sports are slowly losing the one quality that made it endearing to us all: innocence. And the old bottom line, money is always one of the major factors why it is losing its appeal to many of us. I don’t care how many excuses the network gives to justify why they decided to televise college games on Friday, or offering school districts money to televise high school games on
Thursdays, my response would still be the same. Nothing will convince me that ESPN would financially collapse by not broadcasting those games on the perspective night listed above. In my opinion, Friday nights are special times that young athletes, bands, drill teams and the general student body get to experience for few precious years. It’s still so special that when I’m around old teammates we can talk about the fun we had on those Friday nights. It still is so special that friends I have that attended different high schools can remember those special Fridays and feel that feeling about how great those times really were. To me young people should experience everything high school has to offer, including Friday night at the high school football stadiums. So who really owns Friday night? If you have a check with a few zeros, you can purchase it. But my memories are not for sale! That’s just the way I see it!

One of my favorite songs from the 70’s was ‘Livin it Up (Friday Night)’ by Bell and James. Friday is payday for many, beginning of the weekend, and just a fun day for all. As a youngster growing up, Friday also meant going to a high school football game. I looked forward to Friday, maybe more so now then when I was putting on pads and preparing for a game. I can still remember the

In The Love Corner By Stevie T
SUMMER LOVE Hey Houston summertime is upon once again, this means school is almost out, vacations are going to crank up and so are those summer loves. Some loves last a lifetime, some a season, some the summer (fling). One thing for sure you have an opportunity to work on that family relationship. Family is the backbone of all existence, and love is the key to life. Without love and family, this world
Page 21
would be pretty chaotic. When we deal with family love and relationships, we can make this society stronger. We can pass on a cycle of caring, sharing, and love through our children, who are the future of the world. A world of single family dwellings will eventually create an unbalance that we will have a hard time trying to correct. Young guys need that father figure, to teach them not only how to one
day be a man, but how to love a woman, his woman, the right way. Daughters need to see their mothers treated the right way, loved the right way. When the cycle is broken it can lead to the three D’s- domestic violence, dysfunctional families, divorce. We as parents have to teach our children how to love, and that love really exists. The true way is to lead by example. Communication is the key to any relationship be it family or a love thing. For those of you who haven’t tuned in to In the Love Corner on Wednesdays nights, check it out. It starts at 8:00 pm on KCOH with my co-host Ms. Carletta Shepard. We cover a wide range of topics dealing with love and relationships. We are getting good response all
that’s missing is you. We have discussed topics like “Do career women make good wives”, “Is it cheaper to keep her” and “Does love really exist” just to name a few. If you have a topic, you can also let us know by emailing us at inthelovecorner@gmail.com. You can also call in during the show and weigh in yourself. See you this Wednesday night at Eight pm. THE LIFE AND TIMES OF DON ROBEY-PART II-LOOKING AT ROBEY THROUGH THE EYES OF HIS LITTLE SISTER-ZENOBIA ROBEY-POWELL By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View As we move to part II of our coverage of the legendary Don D. Robey we had a sit and talk with his lovely and talented sister in Houston. Zenobia RobeyPowell is the only living sister of the late Robey and is a native Houstonian. Even though Robey was raised in Eagle Lake, Texas and she and Don had different mothers but the late Zeb Robey was both their father. Don Robey had two other sisters Ella and Margaret, who are both deceased. In talking with Mrs. Powell we learned a lot about the late Don Robey. “Due to the fact he was much older and I we really didn’t get to know each other until I was pretty much a grown woman, but we really hit it off and he was a wonderful brother too me and my sisters”. According to Zenobia, Don Robey was always the perfect gentleman around her and he would take the entire family out to see the Colt 45s (Now Houston Astros) baseball game and threat everyone. “My brother was certainly a wonderful man and he was well respected”. Mrs. Powell added Robey bought a 10-Acres place on Wallisville Road right beside the place where their father Zeb Robey bought giving them 20acres of property. “Oh he had
race horses and he would go hunting with my ex-husband (Charles Powell), but I warned them to never bring any of their wild game to my house and they never did”. Zenobia went on to say that her brother Don and her ex-husband spent a lot of time together. Growing up in third ward and attending the Mighty Jack Yates high school, Zenobia went on to attend TSU and UT gaining at B.S. Degree in Fine Arts and a minor in Dance. She felt like Don Robey put a strong emphasis on his children being collegeeducated. She went on to teach school for 35 years before retiring and has been still working at a sub for the past 25 years. Fact is as the school year comes to a close Zenobia is completing her 60th year in education. She admits it’s been a tough ride. “When the bell rings for the last time on Fridays the student look at me as if they are glad the week has come to an end and little do they know I feel the same way about them. But on the bright side Mrs. Powell truly loves teaching and once traveled across the country to see one of her former Cullen middle school students play college football. “He was one who worked very hard and he stayed in touch with me and I flew up there and rent-
ed a car and drove to see him play”. As we talked more with Zenobia we learned her thoughts on some of the problems with the education system today. “The biggest problem is today’s parents don’t prepare their kids for school the way our parents did when we were coming up”. Adding that teenage pregnancies are a growing problem for today’s youth. “If you don’t want children you should not have them”. Looking on the wall of her home we spotted several pictures of Mrs. Powell in her younger days and you can see just how she is such a beautiful woman today. We asked her if there was anything her brother Don Robey gave her that stands out in her mind. “This ring for Virgo which is my sign and Don gave me this ring and I wear it proudly every day of my life”. She went on to say he even bought her a mink coat that she cherishes also. When asked about the Historic Marker named for Don Robey at the site of one of his sons (the late Dr. Louis Robey Medical Professional Building) on Lyons Avenue, Zenobia said “I think it’s wonderful and I’m honored to see Harris County honor my brother”.
Don Robey In closing Mrs. Powell admitted with the legendary Bobby Bland she didn’t know a lot about her as well as Promoter Robert brother’s business, but she did Turner of Able Ten, daughter see Bobby Bland stand and cry Dona Leah Robey-Fields, Wife at his funeral. That told her Murphy Robey and Skipper Lee something about the effect her Frazier about their relationship brother had on the Living Blues with the legendary Don D. legend. Robey!
