META QUEST 2

IN RECENT YEARS, THE EXPLOSION OF THE VR HEADSET HAS REALLY SHAKEN UP THE GAMING WORLD. MAINLY BECAUSE IT INCORPORATES THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY TO CREATE A GAMING EXPERIENCE LIKE NEVER BEFORE. THE META QUEST 2 IS BY FAR NO EXCEPTION. THE META PLATFORM IS A RECENT ADVANCEMENT OF FACEBOOK, MEANING THAT IT IS THE BRAINCHILD OF ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL CORPORATIONS IN THE WORLD.

At the Gadgethead office we were super excited to try out the Meta Quest 2 with the Oculus ‘Walking Dead and Saints and Sinner’ game. Safe to say it certainly provided quite a fright… Having been developed by the Meta Platforms, there is a great emphasis on reality, as the graphics and scenery that surround you are freakishly real and keep you immersed in the Walking Dead world for hours.

First and foremost, the Meta Quest 2 arrives in sleek and simplistic packaging, to match the seamless design of the headset. Admittedly, we found that the setting up process of the Meta Quest is more complex than the online gaming we are used to on Xbox and PlayStation. The main instruction for setup is a simple pictogram on the inner lid. Once the Meta Quest is all set up, however, it is easy to navigate as it guides through instructions and gameplay. The headset itself was surprisingly comfortable and lightweight, with a cushioned support brace that allows it to remain sturdy and snug. Additional comfort is also provided for those with glasses, as a frame can be used

so that it still remains accessible to a wider audience. The controls are also really comfortable to hold for extended periods of gaming, as they are shaped specifically for handheld action, making them really easy to use.

From the get-go, you are transfixed in a 360 world that was quite unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The quality of the graphics is otherworldly, truly allowing you to be transformed into a different space. Therefore, when confronted with an onslaught of zombies, you can’t help but go into fight or flight mode. This is further encouraged by the fact that the headset has a surround sound system, as well as a vibration motion in the

controls. The gore and fright factor of the Walking Dead is therefore elevated into a new realm of gameplay. The only problem with the game I found is that you can’t manually save it once you’ve finished. This was designed on purpose so that each of your decisions has consequences. It can only be saved whilst at certain points, meaning that some of your progress may be lost. On the other hand, it does add to the ‘realness’ of the game. arrow-alt-circle-right

The Meta App that pairs with the headsets is also worth a mention, as it lets you connect to the Appstore and link new devices. The best part about the Meta App, however, is the fact that you can watch in real-time what the person playing is doing. This is great fun if you’re with friends and want a good laugh at them trying to stab a zombie or two. Due to the fact it must also be paired with a Facebook account, you can play online with friends as well, giving you more of a chance of survival. For this to have a true effect though, you must have access to strong Wi-Fi throughout the game, otherwise it can begin to glitch, which disrupts the transformative experience. On the other hand, the headset itself has a long battery life considering its technical capabilities. You are provided with a charging cable and a plug, that allows for easy charging.

Overall, once you’ve got over the VR motion sickness, the Meta Quest 2 is amazing for any newcomers or seasoned professionals of the VR experience. Even in terms of price, the Meta Quest 2 is reasonable when compared to others on the market. Particularly when Meta has certainly raised the bar in the VR world.

SLYR PRO MULTI PLATFORM WIRED GAMING HEADSET

AS THE GAMING INDUSTRY HAS TRULY TAKEN OFF IN THE PAST DECADE, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN TO THEIR COMPUTERS OR CONSOLE FOR HOURS OF INTENSE GAMING AND HARDCORE MISSIONS. IT IS THEREFORE VITAL THAT EVERY PLAYER HAS THE ULTIMATE GAMING HEADSET.

First of all, it is always an extra bonus when a gaming headset has a sleek appearance. This is something that Skullcandy has definitely got on onboard with. The SLYR Pro headset has an accentuated design with bold neon accents that provide a pop of colour, equally matching the advanced quality of Skullcandy software. The headset is also available in three colours, allowing the neon details to stand out from the crowd of darkened standard headsets.

With the recent surge of Virtual Reality headsets, there has been a great push for more wireless headsets. However, amongst the great debate over wireless or wired, I actually prefer the fact that the headset is wired, as not only does it make the headset much more affordable, but it also allows them to be ten times more durable as a piece of fundamental gaming technology. Compared to other wireless headsets I have reviewed in the past, where connection and Bluetooth problems repeatedly disrupt the flow of the game, the wired feature stands as a reliable and valuable asset to the overall headset. The wire itself is USBC-C to USBC-A cable that extends to 6 feet, allowing for lots of room and versatility when playing. You can therefore be certain that the wire technology allows a smooth stream of gaming, making it the ultimate form of plug-and-play.

Although a small drawback would be that the SLYR does not feature noise cancellation, the sound isolation that is used for highly directional games is excellent, as the headset can boast enhanced sound perception. It’s almost eerie how realistic

it sounds when you can hear someone running towards you. Furthermore, the microphone technology also matches the rest of the enhanced audio. This is vital for communication in team missions, which the SLYR is perfect for. The mic is also handily detachable, facilitating multiple uses for the SLYR when you’re out and about, or when you fancy just going solo. The mic also has LED lighting to signify when it is active, allowing for a clear channel of communication.

Another aspect the SLYR excel at is comfort over everything else, due to its use of memory foam and over-ear aspects. Occasionally for me, I may find that headsets similar to this

can be claustrophobic and suffocating, however, the lightweight nature of the headset means that you still have the robust feel of the headset without it being too cumbersome and uncomfortable.

Overall, for an incredibly reasonable price, Skullcandy’s SLYR headset is a must-have this Christmas! From those that dabble in gaming to the mighty players tackling gargantuan missions, it can guarantee you make the most out of your game. The SLYR offers comfort, exceptional sound quality, and a versatile mic, which means that you can be more than immersed in your gaming mission, bringing out the best player possible.

PRO (PIKACHU BLACK & GOLD) NINTENDO SWITCH

AS NINTENDO SWITCH IS ONE THE BIGGEST-SELLING HANDHELD CONSOLES AT THE MOMENT, I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO SEE HOW HORI HAD DESIGNED THE SWITCH PAD PRO IN A WAY THAT COULD ADD TO THE ALREADY LOVED CONSOLE, PARTICULARLY WITH AN INTERESTING POKÉMON TWIST.

When I first got my Nintendo Switch a couple of years ago, I found the joy cons to be slightly small, especially when I would smash the buttons, it could get very fiddly and would often fall out of my hands. That’s why I find extra joy cons to be really great because they make my Switch feel a lot more robust, rather than a delicate piece of tech.

With the HORI Pokemon Split Pad Pro in particular, the joy cons are a lot bigger than others on the market. I must admit that for my small hands I did find them to be a bit chunky. However, when I gave it to a friend to try, he really liked the fact that they were a lot bigger as the Switch ergonomically fit into his hands better. In regards to the buttons, they have kept with the fullsize analog sticks that I really like because it makes it so much easier to play longer sessions as its way more comfortable. They also kept the shoulder buttons full-sized which is a huge plus as I often like to rest my fingers on these buttons for optimum play, so when these are made smaller on other joy cons it can be really annoying. The turbo button is also a great addition for a lot of games. The only thing I would point out is that they can only be used in portable mode as they don’t have Bluetooth. I don’t mind too much really, however, as it allows me to have one set of joycons for the TV and another for handheld play.

In terms of the look and design, the black and gold look really sleek and is a good feature of Pokémon whilst still having the Nintendo overall look. Overall, would recommend for anyone who wants a guarantee of comfort and effective play, and a love of Pokémon!

PLAYMOBIL WILTOPIA RANGE

LOOKING FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS THIS HOLIDAY I AM SURE IGNITES THE CHILD IN ALL OF US. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE OLD SETS OF PLAYMOBIL WE HAD AS KIDS, HAVING MANY A FOND MEMORY FROM WHEN I WAS YOUNG. THEREFORE, WHEN I OPENED UP PLAYMOBIL’S LATEST RELEASE; THE WILTOPIA RANGE, THIS WAS CERTAINLY THE CASE, AS I WAS TRANSPORTED BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD WHERE I WOULD SPEND HOURS PORING OVER THE LATEST PLAYMOBIL SET. BUT THIS TIME IT COMES WITH AN ENVIRONMENTAL TWIST.

First of all, I think the name of the product is great as it draws in ideas of wildlife and nature, alongside a kind of fantasy utopia, making it perfect for a children’s toy range. The entire range is sure to bring tonnes of fun, due to the extensive variety of toys that the Wiltopia range offers. For example, the Rainforest Night Light alone is brilliant for your child’s entertainment as it has a large jungle night light, inspiring a thrilling jungle adventure during the day, and a cosy warm night light that takes them through to sleepy nights. This is further encouraged by the gentle sounds of the jungle floor that it offers, which are so peaceful and relaxing that will no doubt also take you to the land of nod whilst you put the little tigers to sleep.

At the same time, if it is too loud for your child (or you) then the light and jungle sounds are adjustable so that it’s at just the right level for peaceful rest. Another great feature of the Rainforest Night Light is that both the light and sound features come with other options so that you can switch it up from time to time when you want. The set also comes with two characters (very sweetly named Alina de Silva and Rick Palmer) as well as a toucan, a tawny owl and lots of other little bits that can really spark the imagination of your children.

If the night light alone is not enough, the Wiltopia range also comes with lots of other little bits, that could be good for collecting over time. This is perfect if you can’t think of what to get the kids for their birthday or as a special treat. It also means that you can expand to it an entire rainforest where the possibilities are endless...

The only thing I would say is that some of the small parts could be a choking hazard for really young children. However, this is nothing new with Playmobil as it comes with the territory but is just something to look out for.

A relatively new aspect that isn’t seen in many children’s products is the idea of sustainability which is a key element that runs throughout the range. This is an educational factor that is made fun and accessible for children through points such as collectable educational cards for the animals themselves. For example, in the collectable Anteater (my personal favourite toy) a profile card is available that tells you loads of interesting facts about the lives of Anteaters. And yet

the sustainability is reflected in the products themselves, as the animal figures are made from biobased plastic, coming with a wooden box and 100% recyclable packaging. Further efforts can be seen in the fact that the small bags containing the figurines and accessories are made with on average 80% sustainable material, promoting an environmental product inside and out.

In comparison to the Playmobil products of my generation, which included pirate ships and garbage trucks just to name a couple, the Wiltopia range stands out as a collectable toy set toy that is coming up with new and innovative ways to inspire children’s imagination.

TREK: KLINGON BIRD-OF-PREY

AS SUCH A BELOVED FRANCHISE, WITH FANS ACROSS SEVERAL GENERATIONS, STAR TREK IS AN AMBITIOUS FEAT FOR PLAYMOBIL TO TAKE ON. AND YET WITH THEIR EVER-EXPANDING COLLECTION, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO ACHIEVE THE GALACTIC MAGIC THAT THE FANS OF STAR TREK LOVE SO MUCH. THIS WILL NO DOUBT BE AS MUCH A GIFT FOR THE ADULTS AS IT IS FOR THE KIDS! AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE PLAYMOBIL U.S.S. ENTERPRISE, THE KLINGON BIRD-OF-PREY IS A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ADDITION TO THE PLAYMOBIL STAR TREK UNIVERSE. AS A RUGGED WARSHIP USED BY THE ARCH NEMESIS OF THE KLINGON EMPIRE, IT IS TIME FOR THE KLINGON’S BIRD OF PREY TO RISE FROM THE ASHES.

From the offset, Playmobil has captured the complexities and features that make the Bird-of-Prey the villainous machine that it is. This lets you let you recreate some beloved scenes as well as let your imagination run wild with the capabilities of the Defence Force. Playmobil has been able to capture the look of the Bird-of-Prey really well, whilst still maintaining the Playmobil aesthetic that everybody loves. The bridge opens up to reveal a bright red interior, with four different monitors and space for two figurines. It is small details that elevate the Klingon from a realistic model to hours of fun, as it amalgamates the retro appearance with modern capabilities, including lights and original sounds. Although this could become slightly annoying to some parents, this can quickly be forgiven for the sparks of imagination that begin to fly as their children find so much enjoyment out of the legendary villain ship.

The epic Klingon set includes Commander Kluge, as well as Maltz and Torg, and the main man himself: Captain Kirk and his trusty second in command, Mr Spock. This lets you get hold of the whole fleet of heroes and villains. Recreation is further encouraged as the Bird-of-Prey’s wings can be moved in three different positions: take off, flying through the air, or landing on the Planet Genesis (also included in the set). The set also includes loads of really cool little accessories, such as 2 disruptor guns, 2 swords, and various-sized flames, amongst much more. The modern capabilities are also a really good bonus, as each button

in the bridge has different phrases and sequences of firing, that are really authentic to the original sound, as well as different monitors displaying screens that correspond to the sounds. Although this particular set is pricey, I would say it is definitely worth the money, as not only is the whole thing huge once you get the Bird of Prey set up, it also has loads of little features and accessories that make you seem like you are right there in the beloved franchise. It also has two different display options: a tripod and a suspension device, so you can treasure it for years to come. However, as the Bird-of-Prey and the Klingon are established nemeses to Captain Kirk, it could be overshadowed by the U.S.S. Enterprise. Therefore, it would make a great gift to anyone who looking to expand their Star Trek empire.

MATTEL BARBIE DREAM CAMPER

AS

SOMETHING AS ICONIC AND ESTABLISHED AS BARBIE, IT’S IMPRESSIVE TO SEE HOW THEIR RELEASES JUST KEEP GETTING BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE. JUST BY TAKING A GLANCE AT THE NEW BARBIE DREAM CAMPER I WAS TRANSPORTED BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD SELF, PEDALLING THE BARBIE AROUND THE CARPET. TWENTY YEARS LATER, IT SEEMS THAT THE CAR I

ONCE CHERISHED HAS HAD A MAJOR UPGRADE!

This startling pink paradise is any kid’s dream, and certainly stood out in the office. It wasn’t long before I was tearing the box open and in turn, re-opening my own childhood imagination. One of the first things you notice is how expansive and large the toy is, which means you are definitely getting your money’s worth with this stunner of a camper.

First and foremost, the sheer number of accessories and bits that come with the dream camper are really exciting. From a kitchen set to a dog toy and camp bed it really does let you live your barbie fantasies. Another thing that I was surprised to find is how many little nic-nacs the camper van has. From swivel chairs to a small toilet/shower unit at the back. (Not even Barbie can escape the camper shower experience), it really brings to life how diverse Barbie has become, as the Dream Camper lets Barbie escape the kitchen by including hiking equipment, thus opening the doors for Barbie and fully immersing them in wildlife with her pet companion. It also comes with a pool that you can fill up and a tall slide, allowing Barbie to have a real good splash. This is the Dream Camper’s key selling point, as the height is really something to marvel at.

As you can also expect from Mattel, the toy is very sturdy and good quality, which makes it extra difficult for children to break anything. It also means that things like the slide can stand up easily on carpet or rug, which I’ve found can sometimes be a pain. The quality also shines through in the fact that the Barbie dolls actually fit and can slide down the slide, which provides ample amounts of fun. The Dream Camper is therefore big and robust enough to provide fun for the whole family of Barbies –and the dog of course!

GIBSONS CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE ADVENT CALENDAR

FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER, THE SLOW OPENING OF THE ADVENT CALENDAR WAS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING PARTS OF CHRISTMAS. AS EACH TINY DOOR OPENED, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ONE DAY CLOSER TO THAT GLORIOUS DAY OF CAROLS, CHRISTMAS DINNER AND LOTS OF GIFTS. IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT MANY ARE THINKING OF NEW WAYS TO MAKE THE ADVENT PERIOD EVEN MORE EXCITING AS WE APPROACH THAT JOYFUL TIME ONCE AGAIN.

This is certainly something that Gibsons Games has achieved once again with their best-seller Jigsaw Advent calendar. Gibson Games has managed to make the festive countdown even more fun by including a puzzle surprise in each door. This is a unique and very novel idea that means that the kids won’t completely fill up on chocolate, and can instead begin to construct a quaint Christmas scene, providing 24 different adventures, adding to the magic of Christmas. The pictures themselves are really cute and enchanting, from sheep in Santa hats, to elves delivering presents under the stars. It’s almost like bringing a Christmas card to life, slowly adding to the joyful tale. Even more charming is the gold foil packaging that the advent calendar comes in, making the whole experience even more magical.

Each piece is beautifully designed by illustrator Claire McElfatrick. (What a Christmas coincidence!) Subsequently, a really wholesome image can be created and can be fun for not only the kids, but also the rest of the family. Furthermore, unlike many chocolate advent calendars, (where each piece disappears in about five seconds) each door reveals a tale that can be kept for the rest of the festive season, and sparks your child’s imagination.

The Christmas Adventure Advent Calendar would make a brilliant gift for all the family in the run-up to Christmas, as it definitely brought in a little festive touch to my so far non-Christmassy living room and ignited my inner child. Therefore, there is no doubt that any child would love to come up with their own little adventure in the run-up to the most wonderful time of the year!

GIBSONS PASS THE BOMB –THE BIG ONE

DESPITE ITS SIMPLE PREMISE, I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND PASS THE BOMB TO BE AN EXHILARATING GAME. UNDER THE PRESSURE OF THE TICKING BOMB, THE SIMPLEST OF VERBAL TASKS BECOME INTENSE CHALLENGES. WITHIN ITS LATEST GENERATION, GIBSON GAMES HAS TAKEN THIS OLD CLASSIC AND GIVEN IT A BRAND-NEW TWIST. THIS WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT GIFT TO PLAY WITH ALL THE FAMILY AS YOU LET THE CHRISTMAS FEAST SETTLE.

In Pass the Bomb-The Big One, you have to no longer just simply think of a word, instead, under the frantic tik of the bomb you have a range of five tasks to complete, including rhyme artist, word acrobat, category captain, puzzle pro, and a brand new element; bounce boss. This includes trying to throw a ball into the cup before the bomb detonates. This is an extra fun feature as it switches it up from the more wordy challenges, and I personally found it to be the hardest out of all the tasks, further adding to the exciting chaos. Because of this, people become even more frantic and exhilarated, adding to the funfilled chaos of the game. Due to its more complex challenges, it also means that it can be brought for the young ones as it helps develop their literacy, as well as giving the parents a refreshing challenge. This means that it is great fun for all the family, bringing everyone together over the festive season.

A further improvement from the original version of Pass the Bomb, is the bright and colourful packaging that adds more

character to the game. This makes the game much more appealing than the drab colours that it once had. Additionally, a huge plus is the fact that this game actually has a board to go with it, so that you each have a counter and keep a track of where you are. (Something which its predecessor never had). I found that this made the game even more fun as me and my friends raced around the board.

Overall, Pass the Bomb – The Big One is great fun for all the family, as the bomb keeps you on your toes for hours as you frantically try and complete all the challenges. It brings a colourful and exciting twist to an old classic, with fantastic new features. Thus, with this chaos-filled fun boardgame, boxing day will no longer be a flicking through the TV channels but spending time playing with friends and family.

HAVING REVIEWED MANY OF GIBSONS PRODUCTS, THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES AS IT MAKES YOU THINK BUT IS ALSO SO EASY TO MESS UP THAT YOU END ALL LAUGHING AT EACH OTHER. ONCE AGAIN, WE WITNESS GIBSONS GAMES TAKING A SIMPLE GAME, AND MAKING IT TENS TIMES FUNNIER WITH MANY TWISTS AND TURNS. ON THIS OCCASION, WHAT WAS ONCE A SIMPLE TRIVIA QUIZ, HAS NOW BECOME A GAME FULL OF LAUGHS AND MAYHEM.

The instructions for Out of Order are simple, answer the questions to win the game. Sounds easy? Well, with this game the twist comes when you must give always give the previous questions answer, no matter what happens. This means that you have to answer the questions (you guessed it) out of order.

I played this game with my friends before we went out and it quickly descended into chaos, making it brilliant fun for a party game or something fun to do on the weekends. Furthermore, a friend of mine who usually hates board games loved it, as you are not simply chasing someone around a board but trying to catch out your friends and testing brain power.

The game doesn’t come with a board, therefore, you keep track of whose winning by placing arrows on the upside of the box. This allows the game to be very compact and easy to carry, so it’s perfect to take with you when travelling, whether it be on long car rides or around the campfire with some marshmallows. Its designs also hark back to more traditional trivia games, but with a colourful pop to match the exciting twist that they have bought in.

Another small but vitally important element is the fact the game is made completely plastic free! This is a great advancement in making the toys and games industry more sustainable. Plus, you know that when you are playing the game, you are doing your bit for the planet at the same time.

AS A WIDELY ESTABLISHED CHILD’S TOY COMPANY, FISHER PRICE’S LATEST RELEASE OF THE DJ BOUNCING BEATS NOT ONLY PROVIDES HOURS OF MUSICAL FUN FOR YOUR CHILD, BUT IT ALSO COMES WITH AN EDUCATIONAL TWIST. ON FIRST LOOK, THE DJ BOUNCING BEATS IS MUCH LIKE MANY OTHER TOYS ON THE MARKET; COLOURFUL, DOEEYED, AND INCREDIBLY BOUNCY. Most importantly, the bouncing companion provides hours of fun for your child, as it is really interactive with a high-quality spring bottom that helps the creature bop about to the music. The base that the spring and toy sits on is sturdy enough to make the toy stay in place and not roll about, which makes it appear more animated.

The singing and recording feature on the toy is really fun as it lets your child record their voice and puts it to music. This is a simple but super effective feature as it encourages the little tigers to show off their singing voice whilst still dancing to some really cute songs. The big colourful buttons are brilliant for slipping in some phonics lessons whilst having a dance around the living room. The buttons are also big enough for your child to press them independently and choose what they want to do, whilst still encouraging fine motor skills and exploration of movement. It also has the option to change the difficulty of the alphabet and counting lessons, this is brilliant as it brings some longevity to the toy and ensures that your child progresses.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the DJ Bouncing Beats as it provides a wide range of fun that brings life to your living room and encourages a spring in your child’s step. So much so that even I couldn’t help but tap my foot to it…

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE JOYOUS IN LIFE THAN A FLOATING CLOUD OF BUBBLES? HOWEVER, WHENEVER I TRY TO CREATE SUCH A CLOUD WITH A REGULAR BUBBLE KIT, I CAN MAYBE MANAGE ONE OR TWO GOOD ONES BEFORE THE BUBBLES WITH NO SUCCESS. WHEN TRYING TO ENTERTAIN CHILDREN WITH SUCH UNINSPIRING STUFF IT CAN BE QUITE A CHALLENGE TO KEEP THEM SMILING. THIS IS WHY THE BUBBLE GUN EXTREME SEEMS LIKE SUCH A GOOD IDEA, AS IT ALLOWS LETS YOU BLAST A SWARM OF BUBBLES IN ONE BIG SWOOP.

The Bubble Gun Extreme’s design is as good as it sounds. It looks like it should be a prop out of a Star Wars film, letting your imagination go wild. Furthermore, the Bubble Gun Extreme comes with stickers that let you jazz it up, making it look like a proper space gun. However, when looking up closely, the gun arrived slightly scuffed which isn’t terrible, but it slightly knocks the overall appearance. Furthermore, the plastic used is hard but thin and brittle, so I would be worried that after a couple of drops it would begin to crack. That being said, it does mean that the Bubble Gun is really light, even with the battery in it! This is brilliant for children (or adults) that are running around with it.

As a bubble machine, it works really well. You simply place the provided battery in the small cylinder, then attach this to the underside of the Bubble Gun which allows the trigger to the work fan. Next, you place the gun in the tray with the mixture, in which the fan creates a vacuum to collect up the liquid and then shoots it out. Although not all the holes collected the liquid in one go, it still created a large kaleidoscope of bubbles, bringing hours of entertainment. The bubbles that it creates are also huge and last far longer than anything you could make with a simple stick and mixture.

AS A CHILD, JULIA DONALDSON’S THE GRUFFALO WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS, AND HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR CHILDREN’S STORIES SINCE ITS RELEASE IN 1999. HENCE WHY I WAS THRILLED TO FIND OUT THAT I COULD COMBINE MY LOVE OF THE BOOK WITH A CREATIVE FLARE, WHICH WOULD ALSO BE GREAT FOR THE WILDLIFE IN MY GARDEN!!

Firstly, when looking at the product I loved the fact that the magical characterisation and illustration from the book are kept alive through the outlines on the bird house. The fact that the outline is already provided makes it really easy and even more enjoyable to paint, as you are bringing the story alive. On the roof of the bird house are also some well-known phrases and characters from the book, combining the well-loved narrative of the book with a wholesome bird box product. This makes it a perfect addition to the Gruffalo franchise.

The birdbox itself stands 21cm tall and 20 cm wide, which means that is large and sturdy enough to guarantee wildlife in your garden. The size, and the illustrations on top, were also big enough to make sure that the painting wasn’t too fiddly and enjoyable, making it a surprisingly therapeutic activity. When I placed it in my own garden I loved seeing birds making a home in a home that I had decorated, adding a lovely touch to my outdoor space. It will also encourage children to get involved in the garden’s wildlife and well as getting their creative juices flowing.

The kit comes with six small pots of paint that match the colour scheme of the book, but also let you go on your own creative path. It also comes with a paintbrush. Personally, for me I found the brush to not paint it as smoothly as I wanted, so I would recommend using your own brush if you have one. The paint, however, was of great quality, and there was more than enough for me to paint the entire box. Overall, I would definitely recommend this as gift for not only your children but anyone who enjoys the Gruffalo, as it was a very therapeutic and peaceful activity amongst my busy work schedule, and best of all, got me involved in the local wildlife and igniting my inner child.

AS A BIG LOVER OF A CLASSIC BOARD GAME, SECRET IDENTITY IS DEFINITELY ONE FOR THE BOOKS. IN A CROSS BETWEEN ‘GUESS WHO?’, AND THE STICKY NOTE CLASSIC ‘WHO AM I?’, SECRET IDENTITY PROVIDES AN IMAGINATIVE TWIST THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

Secret Identity, in a nutshell, is a guessing game where your aim is to guess other people’s characters whilst having yours guessed, made all the more fun by character cards which include UK celebrities. You are also provided with a certain number of hints that are represented by keys. Each round everybody receives a new character, but your hints are not replenished. This means that you have to be very cunning about when you use them. One thing that makes this game particularly good is that it is really simple to understand but is still compelling and fun for everyone, as you have decision-making to do with the extra tricks of the keys and the opening of the identity vault. This makes Secret Identity unique and more fun than other regular guessing games, as you and your friends get to build up various clues.

The graphics of the game are colourful and what you would expect of a board game, however in comparison to some other Funnyfox games, the design of the board could be a bit more exciting. However, the board itself is not perhaps the main part of the game, as the secret identity boards are more imaginative and designed as vaults hiding a big secret. The use of the keys to unlock the answer is therefore a quirky feature.

Overall, I enjoyed playing this game as its special twists and advancements on old classics means that people from all generations can have fun, encouraging laughs from all around. Subsequently, Secret Identity possesses its own secret in creating a lively atmosphere and encouraging the watchful observer in all of us!

WHEN BEING SAT AT A DESK ALL DAY, IT CAN BE NICE TO COME AWAY AT THE END OF THE DAY AND OCCUPY YOUR MIND WITH SOMETHING THAT IS STIMULATING BUT ALSO RELAXING. THE KATAMINO POCKET PUZZLE IS PERFECT FOR JUST THAT – GREAT FOR GETTING THE COGS TURNING IN A SORT OF REAL-LIFE TETRIS!

To play the game, you simply have to place all the pentaminos (the almost minion-like name for the geometric blocks) securely into the square. According to the placement of the divider, you have to make sure that all the pentaminos can fit correctly into the square. Subsequently, the more dividers you include the harder it gets. This is a really good feature, as it allows you to choose the difficulty of the game, whether it be a simple relaxing placement of blocks or a complex geometric operation. This also means that all members of the family can use it, as it can be used to train your mind, as well as learning about spatial awareness for the kids. For adults though I would say that it can be a bit fiddly when trying to place and take out the last couple of blocks, but this is only a minor thing.

The Katamino Pocket Puzzle comes with a useful booklet that lets you know to how store all the pieces so they don’t get lost. It also gives you different challenges and game modes that you can play. I really liked this part as it suggests ways in which the game can become even more interesting, and it meant that I was able to challenge my friends and family.

The aesthetics of the game really reflect its influences from 1980s retro gaming. It’s bright and colourful pops of colour add an extra dimension if you want to chill it out a bit more and make a pattern with the blocks. The Katamino Pocket is part of a wider range of Katamino games, including Katamino Classic and Katamino Family. This smaller pocket version of the game however (11 x 5) means that it is compact enough to pop in your bag and play when you’re bored on the train, or if you need light entertainment during the day.

Firstly, the ‘Top Challenges Game’ is simple but good at getting everyone involved. You simply turn the big spinner and read whatever card it lands on, which can either be a challenge, skill, or character card. This is great for anyone who is a fan of the series, as it combines many of the loved characters with a range of challenges that gets everyone moving, as well as providing an educational aspect. When we consider that the game is for age 6 and above, the questions were great for providing facts for the kids, which meant they took it in without getting bored. A big bonus for any parent.

The second game, ‘Race the Teacher’, is equally as entertaining. Similar to the premise of ‘Snakes and Ladders’ the aim of the game is to reach the middle of the board first and, most importantly, get to home time! However, throughout the journey around the board, you come across many contenders from the book which stop on your path. Although this is a widely recognised gaming format, the sprinkling of characters from the book, and obviously the motif of the school day, adds a new twist for any Tom Gates fans. Similarly, Snakes and Ladders is an ageold classic in the board gaming world. And yet, there’s a creative

twist to it as characters and events can introduce Snakes and Ladders to a whole new generation.

The packaging and design of the game is in keeping with the bold and youthful aesthetic of the Tom Gates books. Personally, I really liked this as it brings to life the illustrated tales of the text in a whole new way, as well as revamping the games for younger audiences. Plus, one of the boards is double-sided, saving space and reducing the use of materials in the game.

Overall, I would greatly recommend this as a gift for any Tom Gates fans out there. It would even be fun for children that haven’t read Tom Gates as you don’t need to necessarily know the book to enjoy it, and it can introduce them to a whole new world of stories.

‘MY FIRST ADVENTURE’: FINDING THE DRAGON

LAST WEEK I HAD THE COSY DELIGHT OF SITTING DOWN WITH A CUP OF TEA AND READING ‘MY FIRST ADVENTURE’. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THIS WAS MORE THAN JUST A SIMPLE CHILDREN’S STORYBOOK. LIKE MANY OF THE ‘MY FIRST ADVENTURE’ STORIES, YOU CAN PICK YOUR OWN DIRECTION OF THE STORY. THIS IS A BRILLIANT TWIST FOR ANY CHILDREN’S STORYTIME, AS EVEN I WAS INTRIGUED TO SEE WHAT THE DIFFERENT CHOICES MIGHT LEAD TO…

Not to spoil it for you, but the story consists of 3 characters: a Viking called Lima (my personal favourite), a cat dressed from the middle ages called Satchet, and a wizard called Limon. Each of these characters embark on an exciting quest to try and find and eventually adopt the dragon. From the very beginning, you can dictate which way the story goes, choosing which character you want to be and which path they choose. Along the way, it also has different items that you can pick up and place in your bag, by turning spinners in the corner of the book. This is a nice touch as it means that every read is different, because depending on what items you pick up, dictates what happens to you in the story. This means that, unlike the conventional storybook, there is lots of exciting ways in which the tale could go.

I also liked the fact that not every direction in the story ended up with you adopting a dragon, meaning that you have

to think about the choices you make and learn from previous mistakes. (Teaching the youngsters, a subtle but important lesson).

The interaction of the book also means that parents can read this to their kids, and they can go through the story together, then as the children get better, they can read the story themselves or with their friends.

The expanding collection of stories currently includes Finding the Dragon, Journey to Ochre Land and Discovering Atlantis, making My First Adventures a great gift for your kids’ bedtime story this Christmas.

SUPERWORM WAS NOT AN EXCEPTION TO MY LOVE FOR ALL THE CHARACTERS. AND TO MY DELIGHT, THE SUPER STRETCHY SUPERWORM AS A TOY IS JUST AS CUTE AS HE IS IN THE STORY. PARTICULARLY SINCE THE CREATORS OF THE SUPER STRETCHY WORM HAVE MANAGED TO CAPTURE THE ILLUSTRATION’S LIKENESS BY INCLUDING REALLY CUTE BEADY EYES.

The toy itself is very simple, but a lot of fun for small children, keeping them entertained for hours. This is mainly due to the fact that it does what it says on the tin: it is incredibly stretchy!! (Spanning a super long 20cm). This means that the worm is incredibly durable as it stretches and bends in any way you want.

It is also perfect for any parent that wants to keep their child occupied. Anyone who has been around young children long enough will know that they constantly want to fiddle with things and touch everything they can. Thankfully, with the Super Stretchy Superworm your child can be occupied for hours, stretching it, flinging it, chatting to it, or even playing a game of tug and war with it.

Another great bonus about the Super Stretchy Superworm is that would be brilliant for building muscle in young children. Even more great is the fact that young disabled children can use the Super Stretchy Superworm to build up fine motor skills by attempting to pick up the worm and stretching it, to greatly build strength. The ribbed texture of the worm would also be great as a sensory aid for children to concentrate with. Therefore, showing how it can be used to help children both physically and mentally.

THAMES AND KOSMOS GYROSCOPE

THE THAMES AND KOSMOS GYROSCOPE PERFECTLY ENCAPSULATES GOOD OLD-FASHIONED PHYSICS, AS THE WELL-LOVED SCIENCE INSTRUMENT HAS BEEN GIVEN A REFURBISH. IF WE TAKE A TRIP BACK TO OUR SCIENCE LESSONS, THE GYROSCOPE PERFECTLY DEMONSTRATES VELOCITY. SUCH A DEMONSTRATION WAS FIRST USED HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF YEARS AGO. AND YET, AS THE THAMES AND KOSMOS GYROSCOPE SHOWS, THIS IS A SPECTACLE THAT HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME.

To set up and use it may look complex, but it is fairly simple. The trick is to tie the string around the top half and wrap it around the main stand so that it creates a pull. Placing the Gyroscope on a flat surface, you next gently hold the top steady in one hand, and smoothly pull the string. If you pull too hard then it can just topple over, which is not the desired effect. If all the scientific stars have aligned, however, then the Gyroscope should stand up by itself spinning, creating a timeless scientific phenomenon.

In the package you also receive two halves of a clear plastic sphere. This lets you do loads of physics tricks where you see more clearly the motion and forces acting on the sphere, which is also interesting to witness. This is also helped by the Thames and Kosmos design of using white and black circles, as it highlights the motion that is acting on the gyroscope.

At a greatly affordable price, the Thames and Kosmos Gyroscope would make the perfect stocking filler at Christmas, as this small and compact scientific device is a great physics trick over the festive period.

THIS CHRISTMAS YOU WILL PROBABLY FIND THAT THERE IS A HIGHLY COMPETITIVE MARKET FOR EARBUDS AND HEADPHONES, CONSIDERING THAT OTHER HUGE TECH BRANDS HAVE RELEASED HEADPHONES. HOWEVER, IF YOU GOOGLE SUCH HEAD PHONES YOU WILL SOON FIND THAT THEIR ALLURE IS QUICKLY OVERTAKEN BY THE HIGH PRICE AT WHICH THEY GO FOR. THIS IS WHY I WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THE SKULLCANDY’S LATEST RELEASE, THE TRANSPARENCY SERIES EARBUDS, ARE A QUALITY ALTERNATIVE AT AN INCREDIBLY REASONABLE PRICE COMPARED TO MANY OTHERS IN THE MARKET.

About 5 years ago we reviewed the Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Headphones. After giving them a glowing review, it seems that the Transparency Earbuds are like an even cooler younger brother. This is mainly due to that for a very good price, they fundamentally have really good sound quality, coming a long way from the old wired headphones you would buy about ten years ago. For the affordable price of £44.99 they give a great listening experience. Although it can occasionally go slightly tinny with some sound leakage when you turn up the volume really loud, but this is expected of many headphones to a certain extent. Additionally, as expected of Skullcandy headphones, they provide a clear feel for the bass which I personally quite like, although it may not be for everyone. The earbuds also have 30 hours of battery life, which is interestingly less charge time of the Crusher Wireless headphones (offering 40 hours), however this is more than many earbuds that are at a far greater price. Furthermore, with other earbuds I sometimes found that after wearing them for a while my ears tend to hurt, however, with these they felt really comfortable for hours, to the extent that it felt like there weren’t even their majority of the time! This is really good if you’re out and about as you don’t want to be constantly worrying if they have fallen out or getting uncomfortable. Although, if you do find that the earbuds have

fallen out, they have built in tile tracking. This is a particularly good feature as I am always misplacing my headphones at some point in the day, therefore being able to keep tabs on them is a must.

Another really unique aspect is the fact that these earbuds are a part of Skullcandy’s efforts to go green, both in the 100% recyclable packaging, as well as the fact that this recent launch has also offset all their carbon emissions. Within the tech industry, this concerted effort is really good to see we consider how much waste many companies generate.

Skullcandy’s efforts to go green are also reflected in the design and appearance of the headphones, due to the fact that the earbuds come in a vibrant ‘transparency green’, with blue

detailing, alongside a robust and solid charging case in the same colour. Although I know it is meant to carry the motif of going green, and is the unique selling point for the product, I prefer to have more neutrally coloured headphones. That being said, I like the fact that they have kept distinct a green theme for their sustainable limited-edition product, which will appeal to many.

Overall, the Skullcandy Transparency Earbuds are super comfortable with a reasonably good sound quality. Plus, their efforts towards climate change are certainly admirable. Therefore, if you’re looking for a decent pair of headphones at an affordable price, with a vibrant edge then these are definitely the headphones for you!!

TWELVE SOUTH AIRFLY

CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT THERE ARE SO MANY WIRELESS HEADPHONES AND EARBUDS ON THE MARKET, IT IS A WONDER THAT A BLUETOOTH ADAPTER FOR A HEADPHONE JACK HAS NOT BEEN CREATED BEFORE. PARTICULARLY WHEN FOR YEARS TRAVELLERS HAVE OFTEN HAD TO SUFFER USING FLIMSY HEADPHONES EVERY TIME THEY GO ON A PLANE. NOT ONLY ARE THEY REALLY UGLY, BUT THEY ALSO ARE INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE.

This is especially frustrating when you’re on a longhaul flight and hoping to drift off to sleep. This makes Twelve South’s AirFly such a simple but effective idea, as it allows you to connect your wireless headphones to a piece of tech that is perhaps outdated and only possess a headphone jack. Since the AirFly itself connects to the jack, it can transform the usage of a once inaccessible device. This is not only the case for an entertainment system on flights but can also be used on the treadmill when you need a distraction by watching the TV, or even your gaming console. Therefore, it holds a lot of potential with such a variety of uses.

When using the AirFly, I had no problems connecting the device to my Airpods. This is often a concern of mine when using Bluetooth as it tends to be a bit temperamental, particularly with Apple products, so I was pleased when it worked. Furthermore, I also wondered how the AirFly would charge (and whether this was possible through a headphone jack?). It turns out that it

comes with a short charging cable that is USB-C, which is brilliant as it means the AirFly can be charged whilst being used. However, this is perhaps not a necessity since it has a 20-hour battery life. When I used it with my AirPods, the AirPods ran out before the AirFly did, demonstrating its durability and longevity.

Another great aspect is the fact that the AirFly is compatible with a wide range of products. Despite the fact that Twelve South tend to primarily focus on Apple products, it can not only be used for your AirPods but also Bose, Sony and other noise-cancelling headphones.

AS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE PURCHASE AND HAVE ACCESS TO MULTIPLE DEVICES, THE NOTION OF CHARGING EVERYTHING CAN BECOME AN INCREASING PROBLEM. IT HAS GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I’VE HAD TO LUG OUT AN EXTENSION LEAD BY MY BEDSIDE TABLE TO BE ABLE TO PLUG EVERYTHING IN, WHICH IS VERY INCONVENIENT AND LOOKS REALLY CLUTTERED WITH ALL THE WIRES GOING EVERYWHERE. IN THE CASE OF TWELVE SOUTH’S HIRISE 3, THEY PROVIDE SUCH A SIMPLE SOLUTION TO A GREATLY COMMON PROBLEM, BY KEEPING IT TIDY AND SAVING SO MUCH SPACE.

Firstly, the HiRise 3 Wireless Charging Stand is an immediate space saver. Its ingenious design means that you can charge three separate devices all at once in a small amount of space, achieved through a sleek but simple design. The HiRise is made up of a sturdy square base and a magnetic square charging pad, alongside a small hook to charge Apple Watch Products, almost like a small mannequin for your Apple products! Plus, unlike my poor extension lead, everything is charged with a single output cable. This makes it the perfect gift for anyone who is greatly short of space and needs a simple charging solution.

Based in Charlestown, South Carolina, Twelve South have been creating innovative gadgets and accessories for Apple products since 2009. Their reputation for sophistication and simplicity shines through with the HiRise3. One of my favourite things about the HiRise is that not only do all my products look organised and sleek, but it keeps them all together as they charge, which means I don’t miss them. (I am especially bad for losing my Airpods.) Subsequently, the HiRise 3 lets me keep everything together, and saves a lot of stress!

So how do all the devices fit into the one charging gadget?

The charger itself is at a slight angle. I really like this feature as it makes your phone really accessible and can be effectively used as a stand for your phone whilst you watch videos for example. Additionally, I was cautious of the magnetic pad when turning my alarm off in the morning, as I was nervous I would hit my phone off the charging area. However, I was proven wrong as my phone was steadily held in place whilst I fumbled around trying to turn off the alarm.

Something to consider is the fact that the magnetic charger pad is only compatible with the iPhone 12, 13 and 14, as well as requiring the Magsafe case for it to work. This of course limits the number of people that can use the HiRise 3. However, this does not mean that you can’t use the charger if you don’t possess the latest iPhone, as any phone can be charged on the main charging base, (also regardless of the phone case). This does also mean that you can potentially charge two phones at once just by using one charging point, making it the ultimate versatile space saver.

Overall, this is a great charging gadget that is great if you want to keep your space neat and completely uncluttered. Furthermore, clear forethought has gone into the project as even those without Apple products have the chance to enjoy Twelve South’s great design.

LOSING MY WALLET IS PRACTICALLY A DAILY OCCURRENCE AT THIS POINT, THEREFORE I WAS THRILLED TO FIND OUT I WOULD BE ABLE TO REVIEW THE EKSTER ALLUMINUIM AIRTAG WALLET, AS IT MADE MY DAY TEN TIMES LESS STRESSFUL. LIKE MANY OTHER EKSTER PRODUCTS, THE ALUMINIUM AIRTAG WALLET HOLDS AN AIR OF SOPHISTICATION, DUE TO ITS BRILLIANT QUALITY AND EXPERT FINISH. Furthermore, its slim and compact dimensions mean that it can discreetly fit into your pocket (even the front ones) without being noticed. This means that your cards are safely stored away. In the highly unfortunate event that your wallet is stolen, or you even happen to lose it, it has a space specifically for an AirTag. This means that Wallet is more than prepared to be returned to you to ensure the greatest safety.

On a practical level, when I was using the wallet out and about I found it to be really functional, especially when it allows you to use your card in contactless payment without taking it out of your wallet. However, this does mean you have to be careful as to what card is being scanned. Furthermore, its card ejection mechanism meant that I could find the exact card I wanted so

much easier than normal. On the other hand, one thing I would caution about is that the cash is held in by a thin strap, which wasn’t great at holding a couple of notes in, so it did slip out. Personally, I would have preferred a small pocket to put cash in to make it more secure. However, as the world transitions away from cash payments, this becomes an increasingly smaller issue.

Although the Aluminium AirTag Wallet is not available in as many colours as other Ekster products, it does come in Graphite and Nappa Black. This is fairly standard, but it does lend well to the quality leather that the wallet is made from, making it a quality product.

UPON FIRST GLANCE, IT IS IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS HOW EKSTER’S PARLIAMENT WALLET OOZES SOPHISTICATION AND FUNCTIONALITY. APPEARANCE-WISE, IT APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO MANY OTHER LEATHER WALLETS. HOWEVER, IN THE CORNER, THERE IS A NEAT LITTLE CARD EJECTION MECHANISM WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO EASILY ACCESS YOUR CARDS, BY SNAPPING THEM UP IN ASCENDING ORDER. I FOUND THIS TO BE PERFECT FOR ME AS MY CARDS WERE ALL ORDERED AND I COULD SEE EXACTLY WHAT CARD TO PICK OUT, MAKING IT EASY AND EFFICIENT.

Efficiency and stylishness are definitely in keeping with many of Ekster’s products. The company began as a Kickstarter, founded by two Dutch students who wanted a wallet that suited the 21st century. This pushes them to continuously be forward-thinking in their products, which shines through in the Parliament wallet, as it makes flicking through cards so much easier. So much so, that it looks like a gadget straight out of James Bond.

Despite all of its techy features the wallet itself is perfectly pocket-sized, even for smaller pocketed female jeans! This perhaps comes with a single drawback in the sense that because it is small, when I did start to really fill it with cards, it got jammed. Although it advertises being able to fit 1-12, I wouldn’t put in more than eight. Therefore, I would definitely advise that you don’t overfill it and instead prioritise your cards. In fact, I found this to be quite useful as it allowed me to get rid of the clutter that my purse is usually stuffed with.

Although I received the wallet in black, they have a wide variety of colours available, branching away from the usual black or brown wallets. That being said, the black leather looks very swarve, particularly in its matte black packaging that the wallet arrived in, making it more than just a wallet, but something that made me look very organised and sophisticated. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a gift this Christmas for anyone who wants to stay organised with their cards and look good doing it!

EQUALLY AS FRUSTRATING CAN BE TRYING TO FIND SOME VARIETY IN YOUR DAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE TO START YOUR WORKING-DAY. The Timeflip 2, put simply, is a large dice that can neatly sit on your desk. However, it is a big dice with an exciting twist. By corresponding with an app, it measures your time and productivity for a particular activity, as each activity is assigned to a particular side of the dice. This is conducted by setting the dice so that the activity you are doing is facing upwards, which allows the app to keep track of how you divided your time throughout the day. Therefore, by rolling the dice it comes up with a new activity and ultimately randomises your day. By adding an idea of chance or reward, the tasks you really don’t want to do suddenly become more interesting.

This is really useful

THE DORO 8100 IS THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF MODERNISED SMARTPHONE TECHNOLOGY AND SIMPLE FUNCTIONALITY. THEREFORE, IF ANY OF YOUR ELDERLY RELATIVES ARE LOOKING FOR A SMARTPHONE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO KEEP UP WITH THE TIMES, BUT IS ALSO EASY TO USE, THEN THIS IS THE PHONE FOR THEM! IN AN EFFORT TO STAY MODERN, MY GRANDMA RECEIVED THE LATEST SAMSUNG. ALTHOUGH SHE WAS PLEASED AT FIRST, IT QUICKLY DESCENDED INTO CONFUSED CHAOS, AS SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT EACH APP MEANT AND HOW IT ALL WORKED.

Unlike many other smartphones, the Doro 8100 is specially designed to meet the needs of the senior individual. Similar to many of its other phones, I found it had a functional but incredibly stylish design. This is primarily due to the fact that it is really simple to use. Akin to the majority of smartphones, the screen is organised via apps. However, the apps themselves have a really large and bold display which makes them really easy to navigate. This is one of the many features that are deliberately set up to help elderly people who perhaps struggle with sight, particularly since there is a label below each app. Again, I think this is a small but nice touch for people who perhaps may not be able to understand the symbols used on apps. The same can be said for the text that can be enlarged to make navigating the phone ten times easier. The easy usability of the Doro 8100 is further enhanced by Doro’s EVA System (‘Enkel, Vanlig och for Alla’) ‘Easy, friendly and for everyone’. This means that navigation on the smartphone is simple but effective for the user.

If there’s one thing I know my grandma loves, it’s photos of the family clan. Thankfully, the Dora 8100 has an excellent camera that is really good at catching every minute detail. Again, the camera is really easy to access. From this, it can definitely be said that the three in one camera are effective.

On the topic of friends and family, the Doro 8100 also has a Team Viewer, which allows others who aren’t with you to access and change the settings of the phone remotely. Although it seemed weird at first that someone could control the phone without touching it, it would be perfect for seniors who may need help with their phones. Again, this is a greatly thoughtful feature that you cannot find in many other smartphones.

This is also demonstrated by the Response by Doro, a GPSenabled function that can be activated by the user when the Assistance button, located on the back of the phone, is pressed in an emergency. This allows senior users to easily alert pre-selected loved ones whilst simultaneously sharing their GPS location. This greatly helps keep family and loved ones’ minds at rest when they are away.

In a time of mobile phone branding that is constantly searching for the most high-tech stuff, it is often senior consumers that are left to the side-lines. However, with Doro 8100, elderly people are of the highest priority, using innovation not to confuse people, but making using smartphones ten times easier.

IN A WORLD WHERE IT SEEMS A NEW SNAZZY SMARTPHONE IS RELEASED EVERY WEEK, FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE WHO PERHAPS JUST NEED A PHONE TO SIMPLY CALL THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, IT CAN BE HARD TO NAVIGATE. EVEN AS SOMEONE WHO ENJOYS HAVING AN IPHONE, I FIND IT HARD TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THE UPDATES AND MODCONS, WHICH IF I’M ENTIRELY HONEST, AREN’T EXACTLY NECESSARY. THEREFORE, WITH THE DORO 6820, IT TAKES YOU BACK TO A TIME WHEN A MOBILE PHONE WAS SIMPLE, EASY AND CLEAR. THIS MAKES IT THE PERFECT GIFT FOR ELDERLY RELATIVES! The Doro 6820 has a great and simple appearance. As a flip phone, it has a lovely-looking clamshell design, that is compact and easy to carry. Using a flip phone also means that the mobile is used primarily as a phone rather than a complex device, and for me, there was something quite refreshing about stepping away from overtly advanced technology. Therefore, it is clear to see how Doro has combined their ergonomic design expertise with clear and simple functionality. This is demonstrated by the large screen space, so the display is really clear. The screen also provides a great visual image considering that the screen was smaller than I am used to.

If you still struggle to see the screen, however, the text size can be adjusted so you don’t have to repeatedly squint at the screen or find your glasses to simply answer the phone. To this end, the Doro 6820 also has an external display that shows the time, notifications, and calls, without even having to open up the screen. The keys are also specifically designed to be simple to use, as they are large and widely spaced, with clear writing and symbols. This makes it simple to see what you are typing, and there was something quite nice about using buttons to type rather than tapping away on a screen. arrow-alt-circle-right

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that (for a flip phone) it had a reasonable camera, that is really easily accessed via a simple button to the left of the main pad.

If you do have relatives that are hard of hearing, the Doro also offers HAC (hearing aid compatibility) and HD sound – making calls louder but also clearer. This is a great feature as it demonstrates particular forethought into what their audience may need. Even I struggle sometimes to understand what people are saying on the phone, therefore creating specialist features to combat this means that it makes using the phone so much easier for people who are perhaps deterred from getting a phone because of hearing problems. If this is the case, then the Doro 6820 is definitely the phone for them!

Perhaps my favourite feature is that the phone is compatible with cradle charge. This simply means that to charge the phone you place it in a holder and leave it to do its thing. This makes it way easier than faffing with wires and whatnot that are susceptible to breaking.

For peace of mind, the phone also comes with the signature Doro Assistance button, located on the back of the phone. This allows senior users to easily alert pre-selected loved ones during an emergency.

As Doro is a company that specialises in technology for elders, the Doro 6820 is the perfect gift for any elderly relatives this Christmas! Looking at the website, there are also really helpful tips on how to use Doro products. Additionally, they also provide extra copies of the manual on the website. This is brilliant for anybody who needs a little extra help with their tech. STRAIGHT OFF THE BAT, THE CLCKR STAND AND GRIP WALLET IS AN ABSOLUTE STROKE OF GENIUS IF YOU TEND TO LOSE EVERYTHING LIKE ME. I OFTEN JUST PUT MY PURSE AND PHONE IN MY POCKET, WHICH AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, HAS LED TO MANY A SEARCH AROUND THE HOUSE. WITH THE STAND AND GRIP WALLET II, HOWEVER, IT MEANS THAT ALL THE THINGS I NEED ARE IN THE SAME PLACE. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CHANCES OF CARRYING CASH THESE DAYS ARE VERY SLIM. Unlike many cardholders on mobiles that you see, this one includes a handle so that you can still hold your phone in a way that is comfortable and doesn’t get in the way when you are trying to place your phone in your pocket. Its smoothness also means that it doesn’t interfere with wireless charging. Handily enough, the grip can also be used as a stand in both portrait and landscape. When it is not being used as a stand or grip, it looks really sleek on your phone and doesn’t stick out at all. This is a good feature for me as I have a black phone, so it really blends in. But even if you don’t have a black phone its smooth design means that it still looks elegant and not out of place on any colour mobile.

When using the Stand and Grip Wallet II out and about, it was really useful to watch Netflix on the train. Even on the bumpy journey over to London, it effectively held my phone. (Even on those annoying tilted train tables). It also sufficiently held my cards in place without them slipping out at all, however, the only thing I would say is that I would’ve preferred if it could hold a couple more cards as it only has the capacity for two, and when I needed my card it was quite difficult to get them out. But that being said, I would rather they were overtly and safe, rather than slipping out and losing it.

Overall, the Stand & Grip Wallet II made my day a lot smoother as I had everything in one place, allowing me to finally overcome my clumsy tendencies!

THERE ARE CURRENTLY MANY PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET THAT ADVERTISE TO BE PHONE HANDLES OF SOME KIND. HOWEVER, MANY OF THESE ARE OFTEN ACTUALLY QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE TO HOLD AND USE, COMPLETELY DEFEATING THE PURPOSE. THE CLCKR STAND AND GRIP IS A STEP ABOVE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE. THIS IS NO SURPRISE WHEN WE LOOK AT MANY OTHER CLCKR PRODUCTS, THAT CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATE A SLEEK DESIGN AND CLEVER WAYS OF MAKING LIFE JUST THAT LITTLE BIT EASIER. This particular product is a staple of the CLCKR range, as it is incredibly versatile, and by default super useful. In the period in which I used it, I found that it solved many problems I didn’t even know I had. For example, I first used it to watch a workout video, usually I have to lean my phone up against the wall so it was too far away, and using a laptop is a pain in my small apartment. Later on, in the evening when my friends came round for drinks, it worked as a highly efficient stand for the self-timer pictures that we took. (We all know the struggle). Then the next morning, I used the stand again to simply talk to my family whilst sitting at the kitchen table. Even when using the Stand and Grip to hold my phone, my life was made easier, as the strap was really comfortable and my arm didn’t ache when I was having a natter with my sister. DOMETIC’S NEW FORTE 180 ORE FOLDING CAMPING CHAIR IS PART OF THEIR CLIMATE AND COMFORT RANGE. AFTER TAKING IT ON A RECENT TRIP TO THE YORKSHIRE DALES I CAN DEFINITIVELY GUARANTEE THAT IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT ON BOTH CLIMATE AND COMFORT.

As many mountaineers will know, a good camping chair after a hard day’s hiking is an absolute must. I found that the Forte 180 Ore at the very basic level was incredibly comfortable, thanks to the padded seat and back rest. This means that I could really sink into the chair and get comfortable by the campfire, especially since the seat itself is very wide and spacious, almost like having an armchair out in the wild!

If you know some Dometic’s other products, then this is no surprise, with a long and established history of providing the best quality camping products. Therefore, Dometic’s clear experience is shown through the small touches they have added: not only do they have padded seats, but the chair is very sturdy and robust. Additionally reliable is the foldable table that comes with it. I was skeptical of this at first because some can be quite flimsy or at an angle which defeats the purpose. The table on the Forte however was sturdy and completely flat, meaning that you could put your cuppa without the worry of it spilling. This is vital if you are perched on uneven ground and are in need of a rest.

However, one thing to be aware of the fact that because of its robust nature it is very heavy. Therefore, I would say

that if you are taking them in a boot of car or in the caravan then they would be perfect for you and the rest of the family, but may struggle on a long hike. Furthermore, despite the fact that it has very comfortable padded seats, the armrests only have a thin layer of padded across the bar which can be a bit uncomfortable after a while. As such, due to the price of the chair I would have hoped for some better armrests if you are to sit in it for a long time, but overall it is still comfortable.

Ultimately, I enjoyed using the Forte 180 Ore as it was really comfortable, and although I wouldn’t recommend for really long walks, it still could be really good for any caravanning holidays.

SEA TO SUMMIT X POT KETTLE

IN MY EXPERIENCES OF CAMPING, THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN A NICE CUP OF TEA AT THE END OF THE DAY AROUND THE CAMPFIRE. I OFTEN GET IMPATIENT HOWEVER HAVING TO SET UP A TRANGIA STOVE, THEN GETTING THE PANS SET UP AND WATER BOILING… ULTIMATELY BECOMING AN AFFAIR THAT TAKES ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES WHEN IT CAN HAPPEN IN THIRTY SECONDS AT HOME.

And yet, the Sea to Summit X Pot Kettle brings the convenience of the kitchen to the open campfire. It comes as part of Trekitt’s successful campfire range, providing a reliable source of camping and mountaineering equipment, with a fantastic range of brands and deals. Similar to many of the products they stock, the Sea to Summit makes cooking around the fire just that little bit easier.

This is mainly because the X Pot Kettle is much lighter and less clunky than the usual pots that come with a Trangia and yet does effectively the same thing in a much more efficient way. As one of Trekitt’s best-selling products, it is highly regarded:

“The great thing about this kettle is that it collapses down to a tiny 35 mm. It also doubles up as a pot to store food for two people. We think it’s a brilliant gadget for campers.” Lorna Preston, Trekitt.

The compact nature of the kettle makes it very easy to carry and pack inside your already stuffed bag. It is also a lot less bulky since it is made from thick silicone that folds up. The silicone sits on an aluminium base that is made in such a way that the flame never touches the rubber when placed on the Trangia, making it extra safe. On the off chance that the flame does creep up, however, the silicone is heat resistant and incredibly easy to clean, making it the perfect cooking companion to place on your camping stove.

Unlike many pots and pans, the X Pot Kettle comes with

sturdy plastic handles, I personally really like this feature, because I hate having to touch a seaming metal lid which is difficult. However, with the X Pot handles, you can carry around the pot with ease, whether it is needed for cleaning, cooking, or taking a quick shower. Although the pot handles were the perfect size for me, I have relatively small hands so someone with bigger hands may struggle, as the handles are made to fit around the circumference of the pot. Another thing to be wary of is that the lid, although very durable, needs a good push to get it on safely. Obviously, pushing down on a collapsible silicone pot full of boiling water may become a bit of a problem, so you have to be careful with the lid.

The kettle is good for transporting small bits of equipment, as it can hold two of Sea to Summit’s X Cups, however, I personally think it could be improved by including the mugs with the X Pot as a package since it fits in perfectly. Plus, the silicone strap would be perfect to keep it all wrapped together.

The kettle comes in both 1.3L and 2.2L, therefore, depending on what you use it for, the larger X Pot could easily cook a big batch of pasta, plus due to its sealable glass it is very efficient at keeping the heat in. Alternatively, I found that the smaller one was sufficient to make two good steaming cups of coffee on the frosty camp morning!!

The Primus Campfire set, although seemingly simple, is highly efficient in everything you need to create gourmet cuisine whilst sitting around the campfire. The kit includes a campfire knife, a grater, a wooden spatula, a wooden spoon, and a wooden fork. The wooden products have a really smooth quality feel to them and add to the rustic feel around the campfire. Both the grater and kitchen knife also work effectively, especially alongside other Trekitt products such as the cutting set!

All these products are conveniently wrapped up in a roll case that also has a pocket for any additional accessories or ingredients you may need to make a delicious meal. This is

perfect for camping as it means that everything is in one place, rather than rummaging through your bag, or having rattle around as you walk. LIFESTRAW PEAK SERIES GRAVITY 3L WATER FILTER SYSTEM

AS ANY KEEN CAMPER KNOWS, THE ACQUIRING AND TRANSPORTING OF WATER IS AN ABSOLUTE PAIN. ALTHOUGH IT IS ALWAYS VERY TEMPTING TO JUST BUY LOTS OF BOTTLES OF WATER FROM THE SHOP BEFOREHAND, THIS ULTIMATELY ENDS UP BEING HEAVY AND TAKES UP SO MUCH SPACE IN AN ALREADY CRAMPED BAG. WITH THE LIFESTRAW PEAK SERIES GRAVITY FILTER SYSTEM, I FOUND THAT ON MY TRIP RECENTLY I COULD COLLECT AND TRANSPORT WATER EASILY. THIS IS PRIMARILY DUE TO THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE BAG, AND ITS MAIN FUNCTION OF FILTERING WATER, WHICH MADE THE TRIP A LOT EASIER THAN NORMAL.

From the offset, I found it very easy to be packed as it can roll up into tight spaces or simply be clipped onto the side of the bag. The durable texture of the bag means that it is robust enough to be carried on a trip. The filter for me, however, is by far the best part. Although I have always been apprehensive about drinking directly out of the river, the filter system of the bag worked very effectively and made the experience a lot more comfortable. Additionally, the LifeStraw Peak Series Gravity Filter System filters bacteria, parasites, and microplastics from fresh water sources and also protects against silt, sand, and cloudiness.

Another small but useful feature is the hook at the bottom of the bag. Although this at first seems insignificant, it allows you to hang the gravity filter system so that it becomes a sort of tap. This makes it incredibly versatile, as not only can you use it to drink, but also used to wash like a shower. (Albeit a very short one I thoroughly enjoyed it).

The only thing I would say is that it can occasionally leak a bit when it gets really full, so you have to be careful not to overfill. Additionally, you have to acquire quite a fast-flowing stream to be able to fill it up, so occasionally it can take a while. That being said, you can use the filter from the bag as a straw that you put directly into the water, so there are various options.

Overall, I would definitely recommend it for camping trips and alike, to make finding water just that bit easier!

YETI RAMBLER

YETI IS A GREATLY ESTABLISHED BRAND WITHIN THE MOUNTAINEERING AND OUTDOORS WORLD, SELLING A WIDE VARIETY OF PRODUCTS THAT YOU DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU NEEDED. IT IS THEREFORE NO SURPRISE THAT THEY DECIDED TO MAKE AN INSULATED BOTTLE TO TAKE ON YOUR TRAVELS. AS A KEEN HIKER ON THE WEEKENDS, I WAS VERY KEEN TO GIVE IT A TRY AND SEE IF IT REALLY RE-INVENTED THE WHEEL WHEN IT COMES TO THE HUMBLE INSULATED BOTTLE.

First of all, like many of YETI’s products, it is incredibly robust and almost stern looking. This reflects the rugged nature of the outdoors and thus appears to be a good companion as you trek up the hills. Its sturdiness comes from the fact that it is made of stainless steel and is large enough to carry up to nearly 1.5 litres, (if you get the largest size) making it a monster of a bottle. However, due to the sheer robustness of the bottle, even without the water I personally found it to be very heavy just stood by itself. On the other hand, this ensures the quality of the stainless steel, and the Rambler is available is available in multiple sizes so vary in weight. It also reflects the fact that when I was travelling my water was indeed kept cold and crisp throughout the day. Furthermore, in the evening it definitely worked as a heat source keeping a cup of hot chocolate cosy and warm. So, I can confirm that it does what it says on the tin.

One of the rambler’s unique selling points is the new chug cap. Although I can understand how it could be good in theory, I found that it actually made chugging more difficult, as the hole which the water comes out is very small, which therefore made it more difficult to drink. So, although it is a nice idea it did not work out for me in practice. The handle at the top of the bottle however was good to keep hold of it along the walk, and of course, you could always clip it to your bag.

The YETI Rambler is a great companion to quench your thirst on a long trek, primarily due to its quality and sheer capacity. Although it perhaps is a tad pricey for an insulated bottle, I would definitely recommend it!

HEALTH& BEAUTY SHARK FLEXSTYLE AIR STYLER & HAIR DRYER

I HAVE BEEN GREATLY LOOKING FORWARD TO REVIEWING THE SHARK FLEXSTYLE FOR SOME TIME. MAINLY BECAUSE TO SAY IT HAS BECOME AN INTERNET SENSATION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE DYSON AIRWRAP, MANY PEOPLE FOUND THAT THE SHARK FLEXSTYLE WAS A MORE AFFORDABLE, AND EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE. THEREFORE, I WAS HIGHLY EXCITED TO PUT IT TO THE TEST.

The first thing that struck me is the sheer convenience of the FlexStyle. Instead of scattering about various hair accessories across my room, my entire hair routine is attached to one wand. This is mainly due to the fact that the FlexStyle comes with five attachments: a hair-drying tool, auto-wrap curlers, an oval brush, a paddle brush, and a diffuser. This allows for a multitude of styling with one secure wand, as each attachment was brilliant, especially if you are always doing your hair in a rush like me!

Fundamentally, the wand operates as a hair dryer and therefore is used for different functions depending on the attachment. Firstly, the hair dryer itself is highly effective, providing a really powerful blast. At first, I was apprehensive as the air-drying part is relatively small when compared to your standard hair dryer. However, it provides a strong stream of air. Plus, the end can be bent at a 90-degree angle to replicate a more conventional hair dryer. To add to this, there is also an attachment that can fit, so that you can have more control of heat direction, making it just as effective if not better than standard hair dryers.

Moving on to the Auto-wrap curlers. These also work really effectively at styling hair, particularly if you’re looking for trendy bouncy blowout curls. My favourite part about the curlers, however, and what makes the FlexStyle stand out from other curlers, is the fact that it predominantly heatless.

Although there is an option to add heat to the treatment, it is not entirely necessary. This is a godsend for me as I always end up burning myself somehow and is the ultimate annoyance right before I’m leaving the house. More importantly, however, it means that your hair doesn’t from heat damage, a frustrating consequence that was once considered inevitable. Another fantastic feature (and quite magical if you ask me) is that you don’t have to physically wrap your hair around the wand. Instead, your hair is sort of sucked up into position. Again, this glorious invention means days of burning my fingers on curlers are no more.

The same forethought is replicated in the paddle brush attachment which is great for straightening your hair. The best part about this particular feature is that it doesn’t make your hair go really flat but instead gives it volume, as your hair travels through the brush. (The same format is also replicated for the barrel brush that also volumises.) Mainly because when the air travels through the brush attachment, it saves the absolute pain of also straightening whilst trying to hold a hair dryer and brush. Again, unlike straightens, you don’t have to constantly worry about burnt fingers. Finally, the inclusion of a diffuser is a brilliant extra touch, as this is a feature you only really see at the hair salon, as it caters to a wider variety of hair patterns.

It is also important to mention the packaging, as the FlexStyle comes in its own robust vanity bag. This is brilliant for keeping together whilst also looking really stylish and organised. It also means that your own mini hair salon is portable and great for travelling, adding just an extra touch of convenience to an already great product.

Overall, the Shark FlexStyle can’t be missed! Its lightweight functionality outshines the large jumble of products that you’re used to. Making it an affordable and highly desirable hair necessity this Christmas.

WE’VE HAD OUR FAIR SHARE OF SKIN PRODUCTS HERE AT GADGETHEAD, AND OFTEN WE HAVE FOUND THAT THEY SEEM TO BE FAD, WITH LITTLE EFFECTIVENESS ON THE SKIN. AND YET, THE PMD CLEAN PRO GOLD HAS THE ATTRACTION OF OTHER SKIN CARE PRODUCTS, BUT UNLIKE THE OTHERS, IT ACTUALLY WORKS…

The PMD Clean Pro Gold, in its simplest form, is a facial cleanser. However, this is a cleanser with a twist! As it uses smart facial cleansing technology alongside the more traditional method of the anti-ageing roller. The smart technology materialises through a staggering 7000 vibrations per minute that arrive via silicon bristles, effectively working to remove dirt and oil from your pores and letting you really massage away any grease that lies deep in your skin. It was also a really nice way to massage in my own foam cleansers and serums as it distributes the product really well across the skin. This being said, if I had to be really fussy, I found the head of the clean pro to be quite large and would perhaps prefer a smaller touch pad to the skin to really get into each part of the face and neck.

Clean Pro also cleverly lets you adjust the vibration mode from ‘Gentle’ to ‘Intense’, in case you really want to give your face a good scrub. At first, I was a bit apprehensive at to what it might feel like, in case it felt too heavy on my skin, or too delicate. However, I was pleasantly surprised as it really gets into the pores and leaves your skin feeling tingly, toned, and fresh.

My favourite part, however, is the ActiveWarmth heat therapy massager on the other side. This felt so soothing and dreamy on my skin and helps the ProClean glide around your face. This is particularly nice when using it as part of my nighttime routine as it makes me feel ultra-relaxed, almost like getting a real facial in a spa!! At this point an improvement would be

that maybe the heat pad acted as an exfoliator, it would be the ultimate device! However, I did like the fact that the heat therapy plate was 24K gold plated as it made me feel really glamorous whilst simply looking in my bathroom mirror.

The PMD Clean Pro also comes with a case for storage. I always find little quirks like this really useful as it means that I can transport it with me when I go away, almost like my own

portable spa in a simple case. Also, unlike previous clean bro products, it is self-charging rather than going through batteries which is always a nice touch for both the environment and my bank account.

Overall, if you’re looking for a gadget that will really step up your skin routine this Christmas, then go no further for the PMD Clean Pro!!

AS A TEENAGER, LIKE MILLIONS OUT THERE, I REALLY STRUGGLED TO FIND A SKIN ROUTINE TO COMBAT THE GROWING TIDES OF ACNE. THEREFORE, LOOKING BACK I WOULD HAVE REALLY APPRECIATED THE PMD CLEAN MINI AS IT IS PERFECT FOR MANY PEOPLE JUST STARTING OUT WITH THEIR SKIN CARE, AS IT IS COMPLETELY SIMPLE AND EASY TO USE.

The design of the product is really straightforward, consisting of soft silicone bristles that you can massage into your face, working to unclog the pores and dry skin. Not only this, but it also feels really lovely on the skin which is the ultimate goal. It is also the perfect tool to try out any serums on your skin, as the back of the pad is ribbed, allowing it to really work any products into the skin.

In comparison to its older sibling the PMD Clean Pro Gold, which we have also reviewed, I actually prefer the size of the Mini because it really allows you to get into all the nooks and crannies of the face, which is harder with the larger pad of the pro. The Mini is also (a bit) more affordable than the original; version, making it more marketable for teens and beyond.

Overall, I think this is a brilliant product for teens just starting out in their skin routine, because it quickly became a staple of mine as I endeavour to try to stay young!

ALTHOUGH THE GREATLY HOT WEATHER IS NOW OVER, THE HUMIDITY IN THE AUTUMN AND WINTER MONTHS IS STILL SOMETHING TO TACKLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WRAP UP WITH LOTS OF LAYERS EXPECTING IT TO BE REALLY COLD. FOR PEOPLE WITH HYPERHIDROSIS, THE WORRIES OF SWEATING ARE A REGULAR OCCURRENCE, THEREFORE ANY SOLUTIONS TO STOP SWEATING ARE HEAVENLY. CONSEQUENTLY, WITH THE RECENT UPDATE OF THE DERMADRY TOTAL, ITS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY WILL HELP COMBAT ANY ISSUES THAT COME WITH THE CONDITION.

Dermadry Total greatly promises a sweat-free life, so much so that it has a proven 98.3% success rate. This means that life can be ten times easier, particularly as you have near-guaranteed success. When trying out the Dermadry, it was really easy to set up. Although the main control box took a bit to get going, we got there in the end.

To treat the feet, you simply lay the electrodes and silicone mat in the tray, fill up the tray with water, plug everything in and set the controller to the convection you want. To treat the underarms, you place some soft pads that contain electrodes which are connected to the controller. There are incredibly soft and not uncomfortable at all. I particularly liked the fact you can control the voltage you want so that you can ease into it and then work up to level 8, taking some control over your treatment. At first, I was nervous that it would feel uncomfortable, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that although there were small levels of discomfort, it wasn’t unbearable. Furthermore, it was hardly an inconvenience, as I could simply use it whilst watching television at night or sitting at my desk at home.

The package itself is perfect as it comes with everything you need. This includes a case that is useful for keeping all the equipment together, as well as keeping it discreet. The treatment trays that it comes with are also specially designed

for the treatment, all having markings to show you where to fill the water to. The silicone electrodes also included are also expertly made, as the conductive graphite silicone electrodes are perfect for non-aluminium treatment. This provides a much more comfortable experience and means that the Dermadry is long-lasting. Finally, the recent update of the Dermadry Total means that the machine itself is more efficient, and it is much quicker and clean as you no longer have to wait for cotton towels to dry. The pack also comes with a set of instructions so you can get to grips with setting everything up.

Overall, the Dermadry Total works very efficiently as an Iontophoresis machine, allowing for a comfortable experience and can be used to help millions of people.

TOWER 3 IN 1 DEEP FILLED SANDWICH MAKER 900W

I ALWAYS FIND THAT A GOOD SANDWICH MAKER IS A MUST IN THE KITCHEN, PURELY DOWN TO THE FACT THAT IT IS SUPER CONVENIENT AND COMPACT IN SIZE. THEREFORE, AS A GREAT LOVER OF A CLASSIC TOASTED SANDWICH, I WAS REALLY EAGER TO TRY OUT THE TOWER 3 IN 1 DEEP FILLED SANDWICH MAKER.

Fundamentally, the Tower Deep Filled Sandwich Maker makes a really good toastie! It cooked the bread just enough so that it was crispy and delicious, whilst sufficiently melting the cheese so that it was gooey in the middle. The lights on the top of the sandwich maker also signified when it was hot enough, letting you know when it was the perfect time to cook. When you open up the lid, the grill plates have extra deep fill pockets so that the toastie is properly grilled and golden.

However, similar to many other sandwich makers out there, the space for the sandwich is too small so that I found sometimes some spillage did occur. One way to combat this however is to use the panini plate, as it does cater to larger sandwiches. This is one of the many bonuses of having the 3-in1 feature, enabling numerous recipes to be made with one piece of equipment. The interchangeability of the plates is the clear selling point of the sandwich maker, as you are getting the most for your money, making the toastie maker a very reasonable price.

Furthermore, a nice design feature is the fact the handles are large, which means that when you open up the lid, you don’t

burn your fingers from the heat of the grill. Although this sounds simple, this can happen sometimes! Therefore, it is good to see that small touches like this have been thought of.

Another great feature is the fact that it didn’t take ages to warm up, or even toast the sandwich, making the whole process very quick and easy. One thing I would say that when making the waffles it can take a bit longer (approx. 10 minutes) but this is more to do with cooking skill rather than the sandwich maker itself.

Thankfully, when I did make a bit of a mess with the sandwich, you

are able to take off the plates and clean them really easily, becoming a key bonus for the sandwich maker. However, one drawback would be is that it may not be dishwasher friendly, so instead, I washed the plates manually once they had cooled down. This is a great piece of kit for making super easy bit delicious meals at great convenience. It would a great Christmas gift for uni students, or anyone who loves convenience in the kitchen.

IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN STEPPING THROUGH THE DOOR ON A FREEZING COLD DAY, AND SUDDENLY BE HIT BY A WAFT OF A HEARTY CASSEROLE OR A BUBBLING CURRY. IT’S ONE OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS ABOUT WINTER. (IT ALMOST MAKES THE COLD WEATHER WORTH IT…) AS SUCH, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT A SLOW COOKER IS A STAPLE OF ANY KITCHEN IN THE COLDER MONTHS. I WAS THEREFORE RELIEVED WHEN I SAW THAT I COULD GET MY HANDS ON THE TOWER ROSE GOLD SLOW COOKER TO TRY.

At first glance, I really like the Rose Gold accents of the Slow Cooker as they are a little extra snazzy feature that could make it a cute Christmas Gift. Having copper or even gold in your kitchen means that it can blend in and make a nice little addition to an already modernised cooking space. Who doesn’t love a little bit of colour and fun in their kitchen equipment.

The slow cooker can also be really good for the many of us that are undoubtly feeling the pinch of energy bills this Winter. Thankfully, the Slow Cooker not only looks really nice but is also really energy efficient, as it takes up less energy than an oven or hob. (And even a conventional light bulb!!) That way, when you are making a delicious meal, you also know that you are saving yourself and the family money at the same time.

When you delve inside the pot it has a great capacity and can hold more than you think it can which I really liked. As you may expect it also cooked my Chilli really nicely, which I could easily control by the 3 different heat settings on the front, making

it simple and easy! The 6.5-litre size also means that it is compact enough to not take up loads of room, but it is still big enough to make about 4 portions. The only I would caution is the outside of the pot can get really hot when it’s cooking, so that’s just something to be aware of. However, the use of tempered glass makes it really sturdy and safe, but it also lets you see inside whilst cooking so that you can check on your food without taking the lid off, which is an extra bonus as I can’t help but give my cooking a quick peak from time to time

The only thing I would probably improve is the inclusion of a timer, however, this isn’t a massive necessity as usually you just leave it throughout the day anyway, so it doesn’t particularly need strict timings. Therefore, I would definitely recommend for the cold nights this Christmas.

To use the Breakfast Sandwich (with a perfectly cooked egg) is really simple! The multiple levels of the Sandwich Maker mean that you can cook everything at once, in a way that is compact so that it all stays together. Firstly, you preheat the Sandwich Maker, and wait till the green light comes on, which indicates that it is preheated – this only took a minute or two. (Brilliant for when you’re impatiently hungry). You then place the Muffin in the bottom part of the Sandwich Maker, and layer any cheese or bacon that you want on top of the muffin. You then lower the central ring and the cooking plate, which allows you to add your egg and fry it there and then. Simply top this with the muffin top and close the lid. The sandwich only takes about five minutes to cook, before you slide out the cooking plate so that it all combines into one sandwich. This is the best part about the Sandwich Maker because it all cooks together, so that the sandwich is tight and compact and doesn’t slip all over the place when you bite into it. Although the Sandwich Maker cooks the egg, other ingredients such as bacon need to be pre-cooked beforehand, however, this is typical of most sandwich makers and is something to just be aware of.

Another great part about the Breakfast Sandwich Maker is that it is very small and compact, so it fits perfectly if you’re

short of space in the kitchen. It could even be used on holiday, as it is light and all you need to do is plug it in. It also encourages many to be more inventive with their breakfasts.

Obviously, you are limited to bread products that are small and circular, such as muffins, bagels and croissants, which may not be the case for other sandwich makers. But unlike many others, the circular shape works really well as it ensures that everything fits and is compact, creating the perfect Egg Muffin.

ANTI HAIR WRAP PLUS PET PRO CORDLESS VACUUM

HERE AT THE GADGETHEAD OFFICE, WE HAVE REVIEWED NUMEROUS SHARK PRODUCTS (AND PARTICULARLY VACUUMS) IN THE PAST, AND IT MUST BE SAID THAT SHARK STRATOS ANTI HAIR WRAP IS ONE OF THEIR BEST YET! ONE OF MY BIGGEST ANNOYANCES WITH HOOVERING IS THE FACT THAT THE POWER CAN CUT OUT REPEATEDLY, EITHER BY THE CHORD NEVER BEING LONG ENOUGH, OR WHEN THE BATTERY GOES FLAT ON A WIRELESS VACUUM. HOWEVER, SHARK HAVE COME TO THE RESCUE, AS ONE OF THE MANY GREAT FEATURES OF THIS PARTICULAR VACUUM IS THE EXTENSION OF BATTERY TIME, RUNNING FOR TWO HOURS. (ALLOWING AT LEAST 2 CIRCUITS OF THE HOUSE!)

Once again, the same brilliant anti-hair wrap technology that we have seen previously is replicated in the new Stratos. I find that mountains of hair (from both myself and the dog) are usually my main reason for getting the vacuum out, becoming a weekly endeavour. Subsequently, large amounts of hair can jam up in the power head of the vacuum, due to the inefficiency of the brushes. However, with the Stratos, it cleans up large clumps of hair with ease. The Stratos tackled this problem easily, as the combination of the anti-hair wrap technology and the Duo Clean brushes are really efficient in collecting hair in a way that doesn’t make the whole vacuum crash. Therefore, it was brilliant for collecting all the small bits of hair on the carpet that are often missed by other hoovers, which overall saves time and effort as I don’t have to go over the floor time and time again. Additionally, the Duo Brush was not only great at picking up hair but also every pesky bit of dirt that usually is too tiny to reach. The detailed dirt pickup is also supported by the Clean

Sense IQ. Quoted to pick up “50% more debris” and “senses the dirt you cannot see”, I was apprehensive at first. However, I found that after using the Stratos, the floor and surroundings became dusty less quickly, meaning that it must get deep into the nooks and crannies, which reduces build-up over time, which again, reduces the chore of hoovering.

A new feature introduced by Shark in the Stratos is the use of antiodour technology. Positioned as a dial on the head of the vacuum, it stops the vacuum from collecting that classic musty hoover smell over time and

ultimately made the endeavour of hoovering just a bit nicer. The power head of the Stratos has also been altered to make it lighter than other models, this means that hoovering is even easier as instead of developing back ache you can simply send the Stratos around the floor and let it do all the work for you, especially since you are not anchored down by a chord either. Although I found that I had to empty out the vacuum more regularly, this is a small sacrifice to make for the rewards of having such a lightweight and efficient vacuum.

HOUSEHOLD WACACO MINIPRESSO NS2

“I CAN’T FUNCTION WITHOUT A COFFEE!” IS A WELL-USED PHRASE THAT YOU HEAR THROUGHOUT THE OFFICE AND BEYOND, AS THE HUMBLE COFFEE HAS BECOME THE STAPLE TO THE WORLD’S PRODUCTIVITY. SO MUCH SO, THAT IT HAS BECOME MORE OF A LIFESTYLE RATHER THAN A SIMPLE HOT BEVERAGE. IT IS FOR THIS EXACT REASON THAT COMPANIES LIKE STARBUCKS HAVE BECOME THE TITANS THEY ARE TODAY. BUT WHAT IF YOU COULD CONDENSE THEIR MIGHTY ESPRESSO MACHINE INTO A MINIATURE POCKETSIZED CYLINDER?

Well, this is something that the team at Wacaco have managed to achieve, with the release of their portable, and very dinky, Minipresso NS2. Mini is certainly the thing to focus on here, because measuring at just approx. 13 cm tall, you can combine the work of a mighty machine into a compact pod. Usually, coffee making is a piece of art or a mechanical engineering project. The Wacaco Minipresso, however, is simple. First, you remove the built-in cup from the bottom of it. You then unscrew the portafilter and insert the coffee capsule. Screw both pieces back together tightly so that the portafilter pierces the coffee capsule. Next, unscrew the top of the portafilter and pour in hot boiling water. Finally, you unlock the piston and start pumping. After a little bit, you should see the extracted espresso start to trickle out of the bottom of the portafilter, which you can put in the cup. And then enjoy!

I think this is a really good design, as the pumping action imitates the pressure build-up that you would usually see in a much larger coffee machine, genius really! I also anticipated that the portafilter would be really hot once I poured the hot water inside, but I actually found that’s it wasn’t too boiling, and quite nice for warming my hands up. The design also makes it really easy to clean, as you just need to rinse out the nozzle and

clean the portafilter which comes off really easily.

I guess some would argue that by the time you’ve acquired some hot water, you may as well use a normal coffee cup and some instant coffee stuff. I would greatly disagree, however, as the quality would not be the same. The whole point of the Minipresso is that you can get the quality espresso of a large Starbucks machine, all wrapped up in your pocket.

Therefore, if you work somewhere without a coffee machine, or you know you’ll be travelling somewhere every morning and in great need of espresso then it’s perfect for a quick, easy, and quality beverage. This would also be perfect for a camping trip, or if you’re just on the go during the day.

In terms of the espresso itself, it tasted amazing, like it was straight out of a barista’s hands and into your cup! It even makes a layer of foam on top, that is created by the pump. I really liked this about the Minipresso as the foam is something I can never achieve at home!

I’VE SOMETIMES WONDERED IF MY DOGS GET BORED OF THEIR FOOD. IT MUST GET SO MONOTONOUS HAVING THE SAME FOOD, AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY, SAME FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE. PERSONALLY, IT SOUNDS LIKE TORTURE TO ME. HOWEVER, HUG PET FOOD HAS COME TO THE RESCUE FOR ALL THE BORED DOGS OUT THERE SICK OF THEIR CRUNCH AND CANNED MEAT!! BEING THE FIRST OF ITS KIND, THEY CAN OFFER YOU FROZEN READY MEALS FOR YOUR DOG, WITH FRESH INGREDIENTS THAT GUARANTEE BETTER NUTRITION AND FRESHER POOS. THIS MEANS THAT AS THEIR OBEDIENT WALKER, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO A BETTER EXPERIENCE NEXT TIME YOU GRAB FOR THE DOGGY BAG.

Although this a product which is slightly different to what we usually do at Gadgethead, the idea of a ready meal for your dogs was just something that we couldn’t resist. From the get-go, Hug promises quality ingredients so that your dogs get only the best meat and veg, including beef fillet, salmon fillet, and pork loin. Especially since they offer a wide variety of flavours such as, chicken with carrots, pork with apple, and salmon and veg, all packaged up in a container very similar to the ready meals that you would buy for yourself. The meals arrived in a pack of six, in a really well-insulated box that ensures that the meals stay frozen and of the best quality for your pet. Therefore, I was really impressed when they arrived still frozen, with numerous freezer packs.

Similar to our microwave meals, you simply pierce the top and shove it in the microwave. However, it must be noted that it takes eight minutes to cook. On top of this, you must also wait for it to cool down so that it is suitable for them to eat, which can take a while. This means that the whole process takes about 15 minutes which is obviously longer than usual. Another contrast to usual dog food, is the smell of it in the microwave. Although it uses what is usually considered human ingredients, it wasn’t quite like a human meal that invited you to eat it. Rather, it gave off an unpleasant odour that reminded you it was dog food. However, this soon disappeared once it was done cooking and was simply a consequence of the quality ingredients.

Now down to the food itself! The bottom line is my dogs loved it, woofing it down in seconds. Although my two Labradors would effectively eat anything, I had never seen them eat food that quickly before. My first thought when I saw the packaging is that it would be too rich for them, especially with such high-quality ingredients. However, they were completely fine, which is a surprise to me as they typically have sensitive stomachs. Again, it does what it says on the tin as their poos were in fact definitely more solid, which certainly makes for a nicer experience when taking them for a walk. So that’s definitely a plus, however, such good quality and results definitely comes at a price. As you may expect from nutritious ingredients, it is more costly than the usual dog food. However, to balance this out in future I may combine each meal with some crunch, to make them last longer as well as provide some extra texture. In fact, Hug recommends that you give your dogs a transitionary period and ween them on to the food by mixing it with crunch, so this would definitely be a solution to the price.

Ultimately, I would definitely recommend if you wanted to give your dog a quality meal, that is tasty and nutritious, giving your pooch a luxury poo.

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE WHOLESOME IN THESE COLD WINTER MONTHS THAN THE FEEL AND LOOK OF A CRACKLING FIRE? LIKE MANY PEOPLE IN MORE MODERN HOUSES, WE DO NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A WOOD-BURNING STOVE, AND THEREFORE WE MISS OUT ON THE FIRE STOVE EXPERIENCE. SO, IN THE GADGETHEAD OFFICE, THE NEW ADDITION OF TOWER’S ELECTRIC FIRE STOVE HAS BEEN VERY WELCOME AND ADDED A LOVELY CHRISTMASSY TOUCH!

Appearance-wise, the Tower Electric Stove Heater looks exactly like a small portable wood-burning stove, adding a very homely feel to any room. The stove also comes in white, grey, black, cream, and blue. This variety of colours available means that you can find one that matches your space perfectly. The size is nice and compact as well, so in the summer months when you may not be using it as much, it can be neatly packed away in the cupboard. But for now, in the winter, the flames themselves look very realistic, as warm tones from the embers continued to light up the room. Personally, one of my favourite features is the fact that you can turn down the brightness of the flames, although this felt quite odd at first (due to how realistic the flames look), it worked really well if the amber glow got a bit too bright!

Now down to the technical stuff! It fundamentally worked really well as a heat source. Although it did take a bit of time to get going, this can be expected of many electric fire stoves. With a 2000W heater, it kept everyone warm throughout the freezing cold day. However, you can adjust it to its other setting of 1000W. This is really useful at a time when everyone is working hard to reduce their energy bills. It also lets you be in more control of the temperature, and with a maximum of 120 C, you can be sure to always keep your toastie warm.

Like many of Tower’s other quality products, the Electric Fire Stove does exactly what it says on the tin and keeps your space cosy and warm, making you feel like your sat in a scene from a Christmas card. This makes it a great addition to any home this festive season.

MELITTA LOOK® V THERM TIMER

HERE AT GADGETHEAD WE HAVE REVIEWED MANY A MELITTA PRODUCT OVER THE YEARS. WE HAVE ALWAYS FOUND THAT THEY DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISE FOR FRESH AND PROPER COFFEE. AS EXPECTED, THE LATEST RELEASE OF THE LOOK® V THERM TIMER DOES NOT DISAPPOINT IN ITS SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE COFFEE MAKING.

Once again Melitta has reached the goal of a lovely and steaming cup of coffee. If you’re like me and you prefer the simpler things in life, then this coffee machine is for you. It’s clear and easy to use method means that you can get a great cup of coffee without all the frills and faff of other coffee machines. Simply press a couple of buttons and you’re away.

The size is also really good as I have a small kitchen and therefore don’t have room for a large machine - so the compact nature of it means that it fits right in. The steel hardware of the machine also means that it is really robust. This is further helped by the handy 3 in 1 limescale protection system making it even more efficient. However, the one drawback of the this is that stainless can get dirty and smear quite easily, so to keep it spotless took a bit more than glass. This is only a minor inconvenience and wasn’t too much hassle over all.

What’s more, the unbreakable double-walled stainless steel insulated jug (with a convenient Easy Click lid feature), allows for the coffee to be kept warm for a long time and is more or less unbreakable. This is a big plus in comparison to other filter machines, as 99% of them have glass instead of metal, therefore losing heat a lot quicker.

It also has a practical timer feature with LED display allowing for coffee enjoyment when you want it. The appliance switches on automatically at the same time you set whilst the AromaSelector lets you choose how you want your coffee brewed with just one touch. This means you can enjoy your coffee mild or strong without having to make water adjustments.

Overall, I found the LOOK® V Therm Timer made a really nice cup of coffee, being simple but highly effective. Also, in comparison to others on the market, it is really well-priced. Would highly recommend!

The Toshiba Microwave Oven is incredibly useful for any cooking needs you may have, whether it be defrosting some chicken, warming up some beans, or cooking a family-sized lasagne, it excellently does the job. I particularly found that when I was cooking a packet of rice, the Toshiba was tall enough for me to stand it upright! Although this sounds like a minor inconvenience, it has been a great annoyance of mine in the past. And yet with the wide capacity of the microwave, I found that it can take on many food products.

This is particularly true for really dense food items too, as the microwave oven is powerful to cook things like a chicken breast right the way through and in little time, which saves the faff of having to clean up a pan or wait for the oven to warm up. This is a big plus for me during the week when I need to do

something quick. Furthermore, it uses up a lot less energy than a huge oven, which is ideal for any household.

In terms of the tech, it has a really clear digital display and easily mapped out buttons. This greatly differs from other microwave ovens where it takes sheer rocket science to get the thing even turned on. The Toshiba Microwave Oven, however, is simple and stress-free to use, with a wide range of accessible options. This is particularly helped by the programmed auto cook settings, which include set functions for beverages, popcorn, or even your whole dinner, adding to the list of its great features.

Overall, the Toshiba Microwave Oven ML EMP23P stands out from many other microwaves on the market, as its easy functioning and high-power capacity has transformed my cooking time from something to dread to a simple breeze.

Another improvement from the Bold is the sound quality. Once again, the sound system is operated by JBL who has a reputation for excellent audio skills. And yet with the Edge, the sound quality is so much crisper, you would think that someone’s sat right next to you rather than through a communications device. It is also much louder which is brilliant for when you are whipping around at peak speeds, allowing you to hear over the exhaust or wind. It’s Automatic Volume Control means that when the background noise drops down, the unit adjusts the volume for you – meaning that it’s always at the most comfortable volume.

The Edge is also great as it can connect up to 15 people. The long-distance signal (of up to a mile between each rider) is also great if you are travelling in a large pack and want to communicate with those at the front or back. However, this sort of distance is only achieved in perfect conditions. In the usual conditions (obstructions of weather or traffic) the range will reduce.

Another thing to note is the 13 hours of battery life, with a handy chargeas-you-ride option. It also features a fast charging mode which gives you up to two hours of talk time on a 20 minute charge using the USB-C cable. The Edge also lets you know the percentage of battery life as you power down, this is perfect for reminding you to charge the Edge as the last you need is it cutting out mid natter!!

The Over-the-air updates make it easy to keep the unit up-to-date with the latest software releases and are easily done through the free Cardo Connect App. It also comes with a built-in radio, and the ability to stream music off your phone, as well as make and receive calls – all allowing for constant entertainment on the road.

This suit is very comfortable to wear on the bike, both the jacket and the trousers allow for a wide range of movement whilst ensuring high protection. Additionally, you can find various adjustments on both to ensure they fit well and are comfortable throughout your journey.

The Furygan bike suit boasts strong armour across the entire suit. Both the jacket and trousers have D30 armour on the shoulder and elbow, as well as knee and hip protection in the trousers, that give the best protection in case of a fall. Alongside the armour, another vital aspect is warmth. Thankfully, both the jacket and trousers have a removable thermal liner that covers the entirety of the body. AS THE WINTER MONTHS ARE WELL AND TRULY UPON US, YOU CAN FEEL THE COLD WHEN TRAVELLING ON THE BIKE. MY HANDS ARE THE FIRST BODY PART TO FEEL THE ICY TEMPERATURES AND COLD HANDS SLOW MY REACTION TIMES DOWN, NOT A GOOD LOOK. AS SUCH, I WAS EAGER TO TRY THE FURYGAN HEAT X KEVLAR GLOVES AND PUT THEM TO THE TEST!

As far as motorcycle gloves go, the Heat X Kevlar Gloves look great, feel well made and are comfortable. Even without the heat turned on they are warm. Like many motor gloves, the Kevlar Gloves have D30 Knuckle Shields, providing armour protection for your hands. What makes them stand out from other winter gloves, however, is the fact that they provide heating to both the front and the back of the hands. Usually, on very cold days, heated grips can provide sufficient warmth to the palms, but leave the back of the hands out to battle the elements, making your hands cold and stiff anyway. This is not the case with the Heat X Kevlar Gloves, as they provide heat across the whole hand, ensuring optimum warmth. This is also aided by the fact they are waterproof, keeping your hands toasty and dry.

The gloves have three heat modes so you can ensure that your hands don’t overheat whilst on the bike. TUCANO URBANO POLYAMIDE HAND GRIP COVERS

AS A KEEN MOTORCYCLIST FOR OVER THREE DECADES, I HAVE TRIED SO MANY DIFFERENT GLOVES AND VARIOUS ACCESSORIES TO MAKE RIDING THE BIKE THE BEST EXPERIENCE IT CAN BE. IN WINTER I OFTEN FIND THAT THICK AND ROBUST WINTER GLOVES CAN BE LIKE WEARING DUVETS ON YOUR HANDS AND ARE A STRUGGLE WHEN TRYING TO USE THE CONTROLS.

As any rider will know, your hands are the first things to get cold on the bike and when this happens, they can become stiff and numb. This clearly isn’t great with hands less reactive. Therefore, the “muffs” can be considered a matter of safety as well as warmth. Thus, the handlebar covers provide a happy medium between keeping your hands warm and dry enough in the Winter without overheating, particularly when using heated grips.

The Tucano Urbano Polyamide Hand Grip Covers are excellent for this as they have a new interior which allows for breathability, whilst maintaining the warmth and lessening wind chill. The use of hefty Polyamide waterproofing works effectively as the inside remains dry. The design aspect of the Grip Covers is spot as they keep nicely expanded and with another great feature being that the mounting system uses a screw-tight

safety closure, making them sturdy and stable at all speeds. The Hand Grips are also very versatile, as they are available for handlebars with mirrors too. This means that Turcano Urbano have you got you covered whatever your bike may be. A drawback of all “muffs” for some riders is that you can feel tethered to the bike, although I don’t necessarily mind this and you soon get used to it especially with these as they have a window for you to be able to see the controls. This might be something to consider for less experienced riders. They feel quality and secure on the bike which all suggests that they will be durable and reliable for a long time. One thing to watch however is if it becomes hot it can become a job to take them on and off. But with that being said, at least you know that the covers are secure!

FINDING THE RIGHT PAIR OF MOTORCYCLING GLOVES IS A MUST AND THEY NEED TO OFFER PROTECTION, LOOK GOOD AND BE COMFORTABLE. AS THE COLD WINTER MONTHS START TO CREEP IN, I LIKE TO EXPERIMENT WITH GLOVES ALTHOUGH WITH THE PRICES OF EVERYTHING INCREASING IT WOULD BE GREAT TO GET A PRODUCT THAT COULD DO ALL SEASONS. CONSEQUENTLY CREATING THE ULTIMATE MOTORCYCLING GLOVE CAN BE A CHALLENGE.

However, it seems that Tucano Urbano have come close to hitting the jackpot, with these many well-thought-out featured Zeus 2G gloves. Firstly, they kept me hands lovely and warm. They use a breathable material keeping your journey comfortable, achieved by having a membrane alongside an aeration system, that prevents your hands from feeling too suffocated. The waterproof element of the gloves also works brilliantly, due to the precise detailing of the inner membrane.

On the underside of the gloves, Tucano have also used a chamois material that lets you have ample movement and is great for gripping. Additionally, the Zeus Gloves have a two-layer visor wiper on the thumb which allows you to clean your visor. Also, these gloves also have 100% touchscreen compatibility which was super useful when using the GPS system on the bike, as well as being able to use your phone and avoid the faff of taking your gloves off.

Finally, the gloves feel robustly made with CPS armour in the knuckles offering more protection. Perhaps the best part about the Zeus gloves is that all these great features come at a reasonable price, without scrimping on quality. Well done Tucano Urbano on these gloves.

CLCKR MAGNETIC PHONE MOUNT

WHEN I SAW THAT I WAS UP TO REVIEW THE CLCKR PHONE MOUNT I WAS REALLY INTRIGUED. MAIN REASON BEING THAT I HAVE STRUGGLED FOR A WHILE TO FIND A PHONE MOUNT IN THE CAR THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AND STAYS UP. IN MY EXPERIENCE, ANYTHING MOUNTED WITH ONE OF THOSE SUCKER THINGS IS USELESS AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. SCARRED BY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, I WAS THEN INTRIGUED TO SEE HOW A MAGNET MOUNT WOULD HOLD UP IN THE LONG RUN.

From appearance alone, the mount is very small and slick, which is a running theme with other CLCKR products we have reviewed. The package itself comes with the mount and a small phone clip that you use to attach your phone to the magnet. It works by sliding the clip on the CLCKR Stand & Grip, which then slides onto the AC vent in the car. At first, I wasn’t sure if it would be strong enough to hold my phone due to how compact it is. My apprehensions were however alleviated when it robustly held my phone in place, making it a very small but powerful magnet!

Furthermore, the fact that it is relatively small is really useful for when you aren’t mounting your phone, as it is small enough to not block the vents, particularly when they need to be working at full capacity to warm up the car in these Wintery months. It is also small enough to be portable and easily transferred to other cars. Also, you could place other items up like your keys, so they aren’t lost in the depths of your bag.

HUMANSCALE INFINITY LED TASK LIGHT

IN A CONSTANTLY MODERNISED WORLD WHERE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE SPEND THEIR DAYS AT A DESK, FINDING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE PERFECT WORKSPACE HAS INCREASINGLY BECOME A BIG PROBLEM. IN THE WAKE OF WORKING FROM HOME, (WHICH IS STILL A REALITY FOR MANY) THE NEED FOR AN EFFICIENT DESKTOP SET-UP IS VITAL. INDEED, HAVING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT TO MAKE YOUR DAY PRODUCTIVE IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT. THIS IS DEFINITELY FELT AMONGST MANY IN THE GADGETHEAD OFFICE, AND WE WERE THEREFORE INTRIGUED WHEN THE KENSINGTON ORBIT WIRELESS TRACKBALL WITH SCROLL RING ARRIVED. WE WERE PARTICULARLY INTERESTED TO SEE HOW IT COMPARED TO AN AVERAGE MOUSE. Firstly, whenever anything is wireless, it is a big bonus. It also meant that the mouse itself felt really smooth to use like it was gliding on velvet, rather than my wooden desk. Plus, it was really easy to connect to my computer, using both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings. Indeed, the Kensington Orbit ensures comfort, efficiency, and productivity. This is not only due to its wireless feature, but the Trackball and Scroll Ring as well, which are great features to use. In reference to the former, this highly maximised the efficiency of my cursor, as it allowed me to be more precise in where I clicked. This in turn increased the accessibility of the mouse. This is brilliant for a range of desk jobs, either working

on spreadsheets or working more of a graphic design front, the cursor has never been more useful to me. Even doing everyday mundane tasks like writing emails, it was really pleasant to use. The positioning of the Trackball in relation to the Scroll Ring is also well thought out, having been sized at the perfect point so that it can be used efficiently, whilst not being too cumbersome.

Additionally, the Scroll Ring is perfect for going through large documents, once again making using the computer much more of a breeze, which is a big improvement when compared to the average mouse. Using the specialised ring motion meant that each scroll was much more precise and not as large a jump. Alongside the Trackball, Kensington also offers ‘KensingtonWorks’, a free software arrow-alt-circle-right

that allows for a personalised experience when using the Scroll Ring, as well as providing a variety of functions. Again, this is a brilliant feature for large tasks such as spreadsheets as it provides shortcuts and allows you to adjust scrolling speed when looking over an expansive space.

Thankfully, the Kensington Orbit Wireless can be used on both Windows computers and macOS, making it the ultimate accessible gift for anyone who wants to improve their motivation and productivity. Its accessibility is further extended by the fact that it has an ambidextrous design. This demonstrates how much forethought has been put into the product as it is highly comfortable to use in both hands.

Overall, the Kensington Orbit Wireless Trackball with Scroll Ring is vital for boosting productivity and efficiency in the workplace. Particularly when the dual element lets you be so detailed in what you are doing and allows you to really make the most of your computer monitor.

KENSINGTON UH1440P USB-C MOBILE DOCK

ALTHOUGH IT MAY SEEM LIKE A SMALL PIECE OF TECH, A MOBILE DOCK CAN BE AN INCREDIBLY USEFUL PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. USING PLUG-AND-PLAY SOLUTIONS MEANS THAT YOU CAN EFFECTIVELY CONNECT A WIDE VARIETY OF DEVICES, AND THEY CAN BE USED STRAIGHT AWAY WITH EASE. I FOUND THAT BECAUSE OF THIS, IT MEANT THAT I COULD CONNECT MANY DEVICES TO MY COMPUTER IN THE OFFICE, WHETHER IT BE MY PHONE, A PRINTER, OR EVEN ANOTHER MONITOR, WITHOUT THE FAFF OF WIRES OR TRYING TO CONNECT VIA BLUETOOTH.

It also allows the Kensington UH1440P to be incredibly flexible, mainly due to the fact that it offers 8 different ports. So, what does it actually offer? Well, the Mobile Dock offers 3 USB Ports, a headphone jack, a HDMI port, and 2 ports for SD cards. (With a built-in SD reader for transferring things like photos from your camera). The Mobile Dock also offers an ethernet port, which is not something you see on most plug-and-play docks. This meant that if you need quick and easy access to the internet, you simply plug this in, along with your device and hey presto! This demonstrates the pure variety that the Kensington Mobile Dock has to offer, suiting hundreds of different jobs and uses.

This is particularly useful for me, as I have an Apple Mac laptop which has very limited port options. Therefore, it can be difficult to connect to devices such as the TV etc. However, the Kensington Mobile Dock connected to my laptop perfectly fine using the USB-C feature, which also allowed me to connect my laptop to the TV via the HDMI Port. To this end, the UH1440P, offers not only an HDMI port, but also a choice of DisplayPort++ and VGA, (useful for working with older motors), offering a wider variety of options in comparison to many other Mobile Docks.

Furthermore, it has a hefty 85W Power Pass-Through. This means that you can either use the laptop’s own power supply for the dock (or use a separate USB-C charger 85W or higher) to charge your laptop as well as all connected devices (such as your phone plugged in via USB). This makes charging devices ten times easier as it greatly reduces the number of chargers you have to carry.

Another great feature of the UH1440P, is that it offers dual 1080p video output, this once again makes this device stand out as not only does it greatly boost productivity, but it also outshines many other Mobile Docks that only offer single monitor output. The

use of USB-C I found incredibly useful as this particular port is becoming most common, and yet many devices have not yet caught up, therefore providing a solution to many cross-compatibility issues in the office between phone and computer etc. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Kensington UH1400 Mobile Dock. In a world where we use multiple devices at once as part of our everyday lives, the Mobile Dock is brilliant for making all your devices accessible and coherent, as the UH1440P works with devices running Windows, macOS, IpadOS and Samsung DeX, demonstrating a clear diversification.

WHENEVER I DO ANY FORM OF EXERCISE, I ALWAYS MAKE SURE I HAVE RECORDED IT IN SOME WAY. NOT ONLY DOES THIS LET ME KNOW HOW WELL I HAVE DONE, BUT IT ALSO HELPS MOTIVATE ME TO (RELUCTANTLY) GO TO THE GYM THE NEXT DAY. LIKE MANY PEOPLE, I USE MY APPLE WATCH TO TRACK MY HEARTBEAT AND STEPS ETC. ALTHOUGH I USUALLY WEAR THE WATCH ON MY WRIST, I WAS INTRIGUED TO SEE WHETHER THE REPOSITIONING OF MY APPLE WATCH WOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO THE FITNESS RECORDING. THE TWELVE SOUTH ACTION SLEEVE IS THE PERFECT TEST FOR THIS, AS IT HAS A VELCRO ADJUSTABLE STRAP (IN A RANGE OF SIZES) THAT LETS YOU WEAR YOUR APPLE WATCH ON YOUR ARM. A BIG PLUS FOR ME IS ITS ADJUSTABILITY, AS IT LETS YOU PLACE YOUR WATCH ANYWHERE COMFORTABLY, WHILST STILL ALLOWING THE WATCH TO HAVE FULL CONTACT WITH THE SKIN AND THUS STILL ABLE TO RECORD YOUR HEARTBEAT ETC.

Twelve South has a great track record for creating highquality Apple accessories, therefore I trusted that the Action Sleeve would match the advanced forethought that can be seen in other products. The Action Sleeve did not disappoint! Made with specialist material, it is really simple to use. You simply remove the Apple Watch straps and push the watch face into the back of the Action Sleeve. Tighten the strap around your arm in a place that is comfortable and you’re away! The Action Sleeve is precisely designed so that all the buttons on the watch are still accessible and nothing is covered, therefore not affecting the function of the watch at all. The sleeve is also compatible with the Apple Watch Series 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & SE, making it really flexible.

When I took the Action Sleeve to the gym, I found that it was really comfortable to use when completing a range of activities. The Sleeve really came into its own when I did a spot of boxing. Because I tend to use boxing gloves, when the watch is on the wrist it can become really uncomfortable and can occasionally obstruct wearing the glove. The action sleeve was perfect for this particular activity because I completely forgot that I had it on and it still recorded all the vital calories.

Away from sports, the Action Sleeve would be really great for anyone that uses the hands regularly during the day, where having a watch on may not be an option but you still want to close the rings. Furthermore, it also protects your watch from getting scratched and bashed, as I am always knocking mine around on various surfaces throughout the day.

Overall, this would make a great gift for anybody who uses their Apple Watch regularly for either sports/fitness or just during the day. It opens up the usage of the watch by freeing up the wrist, giving unlimited ways to close up those pesky rings.

WATERFIELDTRAVEL AIRTAG LUGGAGE TAG AND KEY CHAIN

AFTER LAST YEAR’S LIFTING OF TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GOING ON HOLIDAY. WITH THIS IN MIND, THE POPULARITY OF GADGETS LIKE AIRTAGS HAVE GREATLY GONE UP. (TO HELP STOP THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO OF LOST LUGGAGE…) AND ALTHOUGH THE AIRTAGS THEMSELVES ARE GREAT, I OFTEN FIND IT REALLY ANNOYING THAT THEY DON’T COME WITH ANY KIND OF ATTACHMENT. WHEN I USED MY AIRTAG LAST MONTH ON HOLIDAY, IT TOOK AGES TO FIND AND VERY QUICKLY THE BEEPING NOISE BECAME ANNOYING.

Therefore, on a functional level, the Waterfield Airtag Luggage Tag is incredibly useful as it conveniently dangles off the handle of my rolling suitcase or day bag, in a stylish-looking leather tag. The design of both the tag and the keyring are highly efficient as they have perforations to make sure that when it sends out the alarm you can hear it, whilst still keeping the air tag nice and discreet. The Airtag sits within two layers of leather and is easy to undo and adjust, a process which can sometimes be difficult with other leather products. The tags are secured to the luggage with a steel wire that easily ties together, making sure that the Airtag remains attached.

My favourite part about both the luggage tag and the keychain is the aesthetics of the accessories. The use of leather provides a sophisticated edge to go with your luggage, ensuring that it doesn’t stick out as an Airtag holder. The quality of the leather itself is robust and does not scratch easily. (It also has the gorgeous new leather smell), securing your suitcase in style. If you’re not a fan of the natural leather colour, the luggage tag and key ring also come in red, blue, black, and chocolate, allowing a wide range to match your suitcase or provide a colourful pop.

The quality of the Airtag does not come as a surprise when looking at other Waterfield Design products on their website. BBHUGME PREGNANCY PILLOW

AS MANY WOMEN ACROSS THE WORLD MAY KNOW, SLEEP AND OVERALL COMFORT DURING PREGNANCY CAN BECOME A BIG PROBLEM AS THE PREGNANCY DEVELOPS. HOWEVER, EVEN FROM TAKING A GLANCE AT BBHUGME’S LATEST PREGNANCY PILLOW, I CAN BEGIN TO FEEL MYSELF TRAVEL TO THE LAND OF NOD.

When you divulge into the pillow, you can find that the inner pillow is stuffed with Bio foam, which is Co2 neutral and non-hazardous. This means that it is hygienic and ensures optimum safety.

Perhaps my favourite part of the entire pillow is that its purpose is very long-lasting, as you can still use it even when you aren’t pregnant. This will be guaranteed bliss when you have to endure the upcoming sleepless nights…
