Porthminster Gallery The award-winning Porthminster Gallery in St Ives is fast becoming the ‘destination gallery’ in Cornwall for collectors and buyers of quality original art by established and emerging southwest and British artists. Founded in York in 1999, art patrons and directors Dee Bray and David Durham relocated the business to St Ives in 2007 to concentrate the gallery’s specialism and expertise in the mid-century St Ives and Modern Art movements. Porthminster Gallery has gained an enviable reputation for its impressively curated shows by David, who says “my aim has been to bring the best of collectable contemporary art to Cornwall and show it alongside works by major St Ives and British names such as
Sandra Blow, Barbara Hepworth, Patrick Heron, David Hockney, Terry Frost, Peter Lanyon, Henry Moore, and Ben Nicholson.” “We are a friendly and knowledgeable team, and we guarantee a warm welcome,” says Dee, “and as art consultants we are happy to advise on any works that the client may wish to trial in their own home.” “It has never been easier to buy art to aspire to,” says gallery manager Hélène Chaussavoine, “we offer buyers the Arts Council’s easy and affordable Own Art purchase scheme as an incentive to buy original art at 0% APR.
