Yorkfest Will Celebrate The Arts American Legion Post 605 Presents Awards

Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will feature artwork by fine artists from across the country, along with hands-on activities, music, poetry, and food. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York. The Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26, in downtown York. The festival, which will be held in and around the Colonial Complex and along the Rail Trail from Philadelphia to Princess streets, will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26. All events are free and open to the public. This year’s featured artist is Robert Oughton. His pen-and-ink drawing “Lite Aire” is being used in print advertisements, postcards, billboards, and festival merchandise. Additionally, 100 fine

artists from across the country have been chosen to participate in the Yorkfest Festival Marketplace. A variety of activities will also be available during Yorkfest. The Yorkfest Juried Art Exhibition will be displayed at the Creative York gallery, 10 N. She has confirmed that she will attend the annual awards breakfast and candidate forum at the York County Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 6. United States Congressman Scott Perry, the 2017 award winner, has also confirmed he will attend. Public comment is being sought about this year’s nominee before the final vote of the Conservative Christian Center to choose its Statesman of the Year. Conference On Genealogy Set “Researching Pennsylvania Germans,” a genealogy conference, will be sponsored by the South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and the York County History Center on Saturday, Sept. 22. The conference will take place at the Historical Society Museum, Library and Archives, 250 E. Market St.,

York, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The keynote speaker will be local historian June Lloyd. She will share on “The Pennsylvania German World of Lewis Miller.” Her writings include books on York County-area fraktur, folk artist Lewis Miller, and York County in the American Revolution. Workshops during the day will

The City of York will hold a free community jazz concert on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. in the William Penn High School auditorium. Music will be provided by Extremity.
