Vision Resources is honoring the legacy of Helen Keller. The work and mission of the agency to facilitate independence, enrich the quality of life, and empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired - has been inspired by Keller’s life and achievements. On June 12, Harrisburg Mayor Eric Robert Papenfuse presented a proclamation to Vision Resources celebrating June 27 as
Helen Adams Keller Day. Keller was born on June 27, 1880. The mayor read the proclamation to Vision Resources’ employees and board members and then added a special surprise: He had brought along an inscribed copy of Helen Keller’s first book, “The Story of My Life.” Contributions may be made at Harrisburg Mayor Eric Robert Papenfuse (left) recently presented www.vrocp.org or by calling the Helen Keller Day proclamation to Vision Resources executive 717-238-2531. director Danette Blank.

Museum Presents Fundraiser Proceeds The AACA Museum Inc. recently announced that it partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital to raise $17,773 for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) through the annual Night at the Museum fundraising event in the fall. The goal of the event was to raise funds for both children and cars. Proceeds went toward providing hope, health, entertainment and educational opportunities for families in the community and in the old car hobby. Frank, Jessica and Caden Capitani were the Miracle Family Ambassadors for Night at the Museum. Caden was also the 2015 CMN Champion of the Year, spreading his story nationwide. The Capitani family members served as national spokespeople for CMN Hospitals. During the Night at the Museum
event, Jessica spoke on behalf of the family and shared the story of their experience with CMN. Also at the event, the first AACA Museum Inc. Automotive Heritage Award was presented to Bobby Rahal. The award is designed to honor and provide public recognition for individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the hobby by preserving antique automobiles and motorsport vehicles, exhibiting their vehicles, promoting the hobby, engaging in sustained and noteworthy activities that have positively impacted the hobby, and using their position in the hobby for philanthropy and service to others. For more information about the AACA Museum Inc., readers may call 717-566-7100 or visit www.AACAMuseum.org.
Jeff Bliemeister (right), executive director of the AACA Museum Inc., presented a check for $17,773 to Caden Capitani (center), Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) ambassador, and Elizabeth Wilson, assistant director of CMN. The check represents the funds raised for CMN during Night at the Museum.

Students in fifth grade at St. Joan of Arc School created one- or two-person video games using drag-and-drop block programming, choosing to create either a flappy game, catching game, racing game, pong game, or chasing game. Some coding principles used in the games included if/then statements, variables, forever loops, and scorekeeping, as well as utilization of the x/y grid to manipulate the game characters. Students played their peers’ games and provided feedback. They then documented and displayed their successes, challenges, and insights gained throughout the project.
