Hummelstown Is Happening ummelstown’s history and future events are being highlighted through its new branding, “Hummelstown Is Happening, which includes a new logo and new Facebook and Instagram pages. The Borough of Hummelstown also has an updated website that offers information for residents, business owners and visitors. “We are here and happening and have so much for the residents and visitors - shopping, dining and events, said Melissa Miller, communication coordinator for the Borough of Hummelstown. “(Hummelstown) is a great place to live, work and play. Hummelstown, located between Harrisburg and Hershey, has a topranked school district, according to Miller. It also offers many local dining options and is known for its wings, pizza and famous subs, as well as historic taverns serving up cold beverages. Soon, Hummelstown will be on the map for breweries in Pennsylvania with its very own local brewery. Hummelstown’s shops offer a wide selection of specialty gifts and toys, chocolates, antiques and artwork by local Hummelstown artisans. For music lovers, there is a new guitar shop and live music at events like the Arts Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors a year. Plans are underway for the festival in 2021. While trick or treating will happen in the borough according to the discretion of each neighborhood and under CDC guidelines, the Hummelstown Halloween parade, which is a favorite among many children and adults in the area, will return in 2021. To learn more about the happenings in Hummelstown, readers may visit www.facebook.com/hummelstown ishappening and www.instagram.com /hummelstownishappening or email hummelstownishappening@gmail.com.

The organization is seeking new men’s socks, reusable metal or plastic water bottles, travel-size shampoos and conditioners, small notebooks measuring about 4 by 5 inches with pens, and chapstick lip balm. Family Promise provides meals for homeless families and is collecting Giant gift cards.
The Facebook page features Small Business Spotlights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as events happening locally. The borough’s new website at www.hummelstown.net offers information about public works, zoning, taxes, recreation and more.

EXPLORE Across Town, Across PA “We Are
Autumn landscape at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Mill Run, PA
According to many travel polls, travelers are choosing small-town destinations for getaways and vacations. Not just now, because of COVID, but into the spring and summer of 2021. Fewer crowds, less traffic, unique culture, and friendly locals make visiting obscure locations more desirable than ever. As the editor of Where & When Pennsylvania, a publication of Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc. (EPC), I quickly learned that many of us have little idea of what’s going on in our surrounding area, let alone across the commonwealth. That’s why we’re launching a new series in our community papers called EXPLORE Across Town, Across PA. Each month we’ll feature a town in our coverage area, as well as a destina-
tion somewhere in Pennsylvania. Along the way, we hope to show that you don’t have to travel far to find great restaurants, unique shops, amazing outdoor locations, and worldclass historical sites. Traveling locally can have a big impact on small businesses without having a big impact on your wallet. Take a train trip through the Pocono Mountains on the Historic Stourbridge Line, visit the Jimmy Stewart Museum and the iconic actor’s hometown, see the amazing architectural feats of Frank Lloyd Wright, and hear the distinctive bugle call of a bull elk in Pennsylvania’s northwest. There are so many fascinating destinations to be discovered across town and across Pennsylvania. Our first highlighted destination will be Jim Thorpe; look for the article in your mailbox in early November.
This year, it’s more important than ever to protect yourself and the people you care about from the flu. It’s possible to get both COVID-19 and the flu at the same time — and to spread those viruses to the people around you. But you can greatly reduce your chance of catching the flu and spreading it to others by getting a flu shot. And if you do catch the flu, the vaccine can reduce the severity of your illness. We’re fighting two health threats this season, so every little bit helps. One little shot can make a big difference.
Schedule your flu shot today at LGHealth.org/Schedule.

“I was looking at surgery… But now there’s no need.”

New Knee Pain Workshop Helps Local People Get Back to Normal Naturally, Without Unnecessary Pain Pills, Injections, or Surgeries. Are you careful how you move because you’re afraid your knee might “give out”? Do you find yourself taking Tylenol, Aleve or Advil just to get through the day? Are you missing out on family time because of knee pain? Have you changed the way you do everyday activities like going up and down stairs or getting in and out of a car? Do you try to just “keep going” but you feel limited in what you can do? Do you feel worn out and held back because of your knee? If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions, the Knee Pain Workshop may be a life changing event for you… Hello, Knee pain can completely destroy your life… we’ve seen it many times. It can make you avoid the things you once loved doing such as taking walks with the dog, spending time outdoors with the family, or even doing simple household chores. I’ve seen many folks afraid to do everyday things like going up and down the stairs or getting out of the car because they don’t know if their knee is going to “give out” and make them fall. Knee pain can: • Make you feel like you’re not your normal self… • It can zap and take away your energy… • It can make you feel depressed as you see other people doing the things you wish you could be doing… It can be a downward spiral. Not good. Here at Madden Physical Therapy we’ve helped literally hundreds of knee pain sufferers cancel their surgery, get off of pain meds and anti-inflammatories…and get back to feeling like their normal self again. Naturally. That’s why we’re hosting a Knee Pain Workshop on Wednesday, November 4th at 7pm right here at Madden Physical Therapy in Lower Paxton. If you’ve been told you have arthritis, or bone-on-bone on your X-ray and you absolutely need surgery… here’s some of what you’ll learn: 1. The Top 3 Causes of Knee Pain that can lead to a Knee Replacement and a long recovery. (One of them you won’t believe…) 2. The #1 Single Biggest Mistake that Knee Pain sufferers make that can lead directly to surgery. 3. A sure-fire way to get your life back and pick the right treatment for the cause of your pain (and save you time and money). 4. What successful treatment and permanent relief look like without the side effects of unnecessary medications, injections or surgery. “I had an issue with my left knee that I knew would require surgery - I had surgery on my right knee years ago and thought it was the same thing. I wasn’t sure if PT would do anything, but I gave it 100% effort. Back to normal now, no surgery!” - Glenn M. So, if you want to get your life back and handle the cause of your knee pain, here’s how to register to learn more. Call Heather at 717-210-9945 today. Tell her you would like to “Save your seat for the Knee Pain Workshop.” To make sure all attendees questions are answered, space is limited to 20 seats… and seats fill up FAST. The first 10 registrants will receive a FREE copy of the Top 3 Exercises for Knee Pain when they come to the workshop. I’m looking forward to seeing you there and helping you become your “normal self” again. Chad Madden Physical Therapist – Paid Advertisement – R064691

Fact of the Week Horror movie soundtracks sometimes include infrasound, which is sound below the range of human hearing. Even though we cannot hear it, we can still feel it, and infrasound has been shown to induce anxiety, heart palpitations, and shivering. Food for Thought The phrase “do not be afraid” is written in the Bible 365 times. That’s a daily reminder from God to live every day being fearless.

Joke of the Week Why did the cowboy buy a dachshund? Because someone told him to get a long little doggy. Tip of the Week Make your sink fixtures shine with wax paper. The hard water and daily use of our fixtures make them look less than clean, even after they’ve been thoroughly wiped down. If you want to get your sink spotless, after cleaning your sink with an antibacterial cleanser, polish your taps and handles with some wax paper. The wax in the paper will also repel water, preventing future stains from taking hold.
