Energy Assistance Resources Posted ERAP is a federal program that helps renters affected by financial hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic with free money to cover rent, utility bills, fees, and pastdue balances. LIHEAP is a federal program that provides grants to income-eligible households to help with home energy bills or to pay off past-due balances. The OnTrack payment plan aims to make managing energy bills easier with lower
fixed monthly payments and debt forgiveness for qualifying customers. Operation HELP is a fuel fund supported by donations from PPL Electric Utilities employees and customers that provides grants to help customers with their energy bills. WRAP offers free energy-efficiency products, such as LED bulbs, to income-eligible customers to help them reduce the amount of energy they use, and in turn, reduce their bill.
All customers, regardless of income, can also take advantage of other bill help services, including budget billing or choosing a payment due date that works for their budget. Additionally, PPL Electric Utilities urges all its customers to share this information with anyone they think may benefit from these programs. Grant Supports MilitaryShare The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank received a $110,000 grant from Feeding America and an anonymous donor to address food insecurity among military families and veterans through its MilitaryShare program. MilitaryShare distributes food to veteran and military families on-site at armories, VFWs, and AMVET locations. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank currently operates 38 MilitaryShare sites throughout 20 central Pennsylvania counties, serving more than 5,700 individuals annually. The $110,000 grant will help the Central Pennsylva-
nia Food Bank continue to provide its MilitaryShare sites with boxes of healthy, shelf-stable food items and fresh items such as milk, meat, eggs, and produce. It will also help the food bank to develop best practices among all its MilitaryShare sites, refine its agreements with the sites to foster longterm sustainability, and engage in SNAP assistance outreach with MilitaryShare clients. For more information on the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and its MilitaryShare program, visit www.centralpafoodbank.org.
Square Halo Books has announced that its newest conference, “The Inklings: Creativity, Collaboration, and Community,” will be held on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12, at the Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster. Inspired by the fellowship of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and their friends who gathered together to discuss their writings, the conference will reflect on these writers’ works, while also providing creative and collaborative experiences for attendees throughout the weekend. The weekend will include a variety of presenters, including writers, poets, actors, and artists. The keynote speaker will be Donald T. Williams, author of “Deeper Magic: The Theology Behind the Writings of C.S. Lewis,” a Square Halo book. Other presenters will include writers Matthew Dickerson, Shawn Smucker, Douglas McKelvey, Christy Purifoy, Hannah Eagleson, and Graham Dennis; poet Christine Perrin; illustrator John Hendrix; and director Bonnie Bosso. The conference will conclude with a concert by singer-songwriter Andrew
Peterson. The event will be held in collaboration with The Trust Performing Arts Center, The Row House, The Reverie Actors’ Company, and Hearts & Minds Bookstore. In partnership with the conference, The Square Halo Gallery, located in the Trust, is holding an Inklings-inspired art exhibition. Information about how to submit works for this show can be found on Facebook by searching for the event page, “The Inklings Art Invitational.” In Christian art, the square halo identified a living person presumed to be a saint. Square Halo Books is devoted to publishing works that provide materials useful for encouraging and equipping people in the Christian faith. Tickets will be on sale until mid-January. To learn more about the conference, visit www.squarehalo books.com. For more information, email Leslie Bustard at conf@squarehalobooks.com.

The North Museum, 400 College Ave., Lancaster, opened its doors to a new traveling exhibit on Nov. 11. The “WW1 America” exhibit invites audiences to gain a nuanced understanding of World War I as a transformational event in American history; a compressed and convulsive time of social, economic, and political change; and a lens through which to understand what it means to be modern. “WW1 America” explores stories of a transformational and divisive era for a broad, multi-generational audience. The exhibition is visually dynamic, with large-scale photographs, moving images,
multimedia environments, and re-created settings such as a music shop and grocery store. It is also a socially interactive forum, with stories and many period artifacts supported by authentic voices expressing competing views. From the realities of war to the delights of popular culture, “WW1 America” offers visitors a view of the many dimensions of this period, as well as an entry point into thinking about and making sense of the current time. For details and tickets, visit www.northmuseum.org/ww1 exhibit. The North Museum offers a daily 20% discount on tickets for veterans and active military members.

HARTZ Physical Therapy Charitable Organization (HPTCO) held the 18th annual Fall Blast 5K run/walk on Oct. 2 in Lititz. All proceeds were earmarked to benefit Bench Mark Program (BMP), a strengthbased family of mentors that uses weight lifting, academics, and career coaching to propel at-risk youths toward success. The event raised a total of $27,500 for BMP. Furthermore, the board of HPTCO announced that 100% of the proceeds from the 2022 Fall Blast 5K, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, will also support BMP, thereby continuing to fund this community program as it aims to grow and expand its reach in Lancaster County. Will Keifer, executive director of BMP, noted that BMP’s plans for the future include moving to a new location. HPTCO is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of HARTZ Physical Therapy. The company and organization have raised more than $275,000 for various local charities through the Fall Blast and other charitable initiatives over the past 21 years.

When COVID-19 closed its doors just two months later, Fitzwater and others connected with families online, using digital resources provided by the National Office. In the Lancaster Playhouse’s first year, nearly 800 participants benefited from its free, results-driven programs. All GiGi’s Playhouses provide programs at no cost to participating families to ensure that cost will never be a barrier to achievement or acceptance.
