Clancy, has earned a distinguished invitation to serve in the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Clancy’s exemplary leadership in special education has resulted in her appointment as director of the PDE’s Special Education Bureau. Her resignation from Solanco will be effective Monday, July 22. “Carole’s efforts at Solanco have been tremendous, and we are greatly appreciative of the expertise and commitment she provided to our students,” commented district superintendent Brian Bliss. “I have no doubt that I will be better in my new role, having spent the past year as part of the Solanco educational team,” Clancy said. “I have experienced

Keeler has been the coordinator of special education in the School District of Lancaster (SDoL) since 2016. Attention Back Pain and Sciatica Sufferers! Back By Request...

Back Pain and Sciatica Workshop Reveals How to Naturally Heal Back Pain and Sciatica For Good.

Gore Service & Repair from pg 1

Do you suffer with back pain or leg pain when you stand or walk? Do you have pain when you sit for long periods or drive? Do you experience pain, numbness or tingling into your butt, groin or down your leg? Does your back ever “go out” if you move the wrong way? Are you afraid your pain will get worse if you don’t do anything about it? If you have answered YES to any of the above questions (or have a stubborn spouse who is in denial) - the Lower Back and Sciatica Workshop may be a life changing event for you…

Gore was born and raised on a farm in southern Lancaster County. “I was raised by a hardworking father who farmed and was a mechanic and equipment operator. He was a great mentor,” he remarked. Gore is joined in the business by his wife, Jess, and their sons. He has one employee, Josh Fisher, who is licensed to perform inspections. Everyone involved aims to be fair, friendly, and honest as they interact with customers. Gore Service & Repair LLC offers safety and emissions inspections and a full line of repair services for gasoline- and dieselpowered cars and trucks. Service areas include brakes and custom brake lines, chassis and driveline, diagnostics, tires, suspensions, steering, emissions systems, and transmissions. The business also works on trailers. The business is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and by appointment on Saturdays. To schedule an appointment, readers may call 717-806-5936.

“My back pain was interfering with my sleep and limiting my exercise. I couldn’t sit longer than an hour without discomfort. Since my treatment, I sleep without pain, I have resumed walking and running and I am not limited in anything” - Julianne B. Back pain and sciatica can completely ruin your life…I’ve seen it many times.

It can make you lean on the shopping cart when walking through the grocery store (how embarrassing)… It can take your focus away on enjoying your life…like spending time with your children or grandchildren… It can mess up your work or force you to do a job you don’t want to do… It can ruin your travel plans… And it can take away your ability to live life… The Sciatica and Lower Back Specialists at Neff Physical Therapy have helped thousands of people from right here in Quarryville…and the rest of Lancaster County…who have suffered needlessly with lower back pain and sciatica…it’s our specialty.

So by request, I’m hosting a at Neff

German, including the hymns “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” and “Fairest Lord Jesus.” The group has also prepared a German choral piece based on Psalm 150 and is working on a fourth selection. Boehm’s Heritage Sunday celebrates the family of Jacob Böhm, who immigrated to what is now Pequea Township in Lancaster County in approximately 1717. The event is open to the public, but Böhm descendants are especially encouraged to attend. Boehm’s Chapel was built in 1791 on land provided by Böhm’s grandson Jacob Boehm. It was the first Methodist Church in Lancaster County, and it is the oldest existing structure built for Methodist worship in Pennsylvania and the fourth-oldest in the nation. The chapel is open for tours every other Saturday between noon and 2 p.m. beginning on June 1. On Saturday, June 22, a children’s program called “Tales in the Tying Shed” will be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. The program will feature the reading of a children’s book about blacksmithing and the playing of children’s games from the 1800s. There is no charge to take a tour or attend “Tales in the Tying Shed,” but donations will be welcome. For more information about Boehm’s Chapel events, readers may email boehm schapel@gmail.com or call 717-872-4133.

Youths age 13 and older are invited to participate in Teen Open Studio, which is being held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sundays. Artists should bring their preferred art materials with them. Instructor Beth Stepenaski will provide assistance and feedback to students who enjoy drawing, painting, pastels, graphic design, and more. Stepenaski has eight years of experience as a graphic designer and animator from which to pull as she acts as a resource for aspiring animators and students who enjoy cartooning and anime. “All artmaking is valid, even cartooning,” Stepenaski said. A suggested donation has been set to attend each open studio. Openings are still available in the three art camps being offered this summer. A cost has been set for each camp, with separate prices for full-day and half-day attendance. Some camps will have an additional fee to cover the cost of materials. “Let’s Make Sense of Art” will be held on Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children age 7 and older are invited to attend all day or just half-days. Herr will lead “Painting Camp for Creative Kids” for youths ages 10 to 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12. Students will explore color in a variety of painting mediums with varied subjects, including landscape, still life, portraiture, and abstract design. The Solanco students’ Classroom Lockdown Assistance Device (CLAD) received the award for the Survivability division. It also won a People’s Choice Award for Best SafetyRelated Project, as voted on by the other student teams. The CLAD they invented is a PVC cylinder that mounts above a classroom door. In the event of a school intruder emergency, the CLAD would release a curtain at the door to block the intruder’s view into the classroom. A teacher or student would not need to approach the door to pull down the curtain. The curtain is made of a synthetic fiber that is designed to deflect or fragment bullets fired into it. The CLAD also locks the door by removing the small magnet that teachers place on the door when needed to prevent the door from locking, and the CLAD provides additional reinforcement by cinching the door shut at the hinge typically found at the tops of doors in classrooms. While in Harrisburg for the state STEM competition, Solanco students visited the National Civil War Museum and met with Pennsylvania Education Secretary Pedro Rivera.

Ceremony To Honor Vietnam Veterans U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker, in conjunction with the office of U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, will lead a ceremony honoring area Vietnam-era veterans with a 50th-anniversary commemorative pin. Veterans from the 11th Congressional District are invited to attend and be honored at this event. This ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 15, at 8 a.m. in the library at Columbia Junior/Senior High School, 901 Ironville Pike, Columbia. Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of station location, and who did not receive a pin at the March 29 event at Lancaster Airport will be eligible to receive a lapel pin at this ceremony. Veterans’ family members and veterans from all periods of service are invited to attend the ceremony.

Toomey co-sponsored legislation to permanently designate March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of veterans who served during the Vietnam War. The bill has been signed into law by President Donald Trump. Following the recognition ceremony, Smucker, joined by members of Toomey’s staff, will participate in

the unveiling of a portrait of retired Lt. Gen. David L. Mann, the 10th alumnus of Columbia High School to rise to the rank of general or admiral in the United States Armed Forces. Columbia High School and elementary students will participate in the program. Vietnam-era veterans who wish to attend should call Smucker’s office at 717-393-0667 by Thursday, June 13, at noon.
