If you are based in Southern York County – or do business here – we would like to extend an invitation. The Southern York County Business Association is a local non-profit dedicated to helping businesses survive and thrive — regardless of how large you’ve become or how long you’ve been in operation. For those with aspirations to launch a long-held dream, you’ll find yourself in good company with those who’ve already made – or are contemplating - that transition. SYCBA members range from sole proprietors to decision makers within the corporate sector; some provide services and others goods. And while we all have different dreams and different goals, we also all share a common vision of doing well at what we do. The Southern York County Business Association is dedicated to bringing local businesses together to help them accomplish their individual goals. We know that each has their own unique needs – as well as contributions. And, as a collective unit, the SYCBA helps build business visibility, power community enhancement projects and provide an opportunity to build connections as well as community. The SYCBA meets monthly and provides an informal forum where members can meet and mingle, enjoy casual lunches and listen to educational speakers who are both inspirational and informative. These venues provide opportunities to network as well as to become active participants in activities and events that benefit local non-profits. Our community fundraising events – which benefit the YMCA, Southern Community Services, the Paul Smith Public Library and H.O.P.E. (Help for Oncology Problems and Emotional Support) - have helped define SYCBA and provide a fun way for members to mix business and pleasure, enterprise and volunteerism. We encourage all members to participate in at least one activity or outreach each year. In the meantime, Southern York County is a favorite locale with great opportunity. We again invite you to attend our next meeting, held the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m., or to visit us online to learn more. Membership packages are conveniently priced and are now available at an annual cost of $75/$55 for non-profits. Membership benefits include: • Local exposure through a website listing with personalized contact information and a link back to your own website. • Print products distributed to every household in Southern York County, listing all members by name and providing unique advertising opportunities and visibility. • Fundraising events that provide sponsorship opportunities as well as a community presence. • For those so inclined, there are opportunities to actively participate in the life of the organization. • All members can immediately engage and at a level comfortable and convenient for them. The SYCBA is dedicated to community service and in the past year donated funds to two local non-profits and supported one high school student with a college scholarship. • SYCBA presented a $1,000 check to H.O.P.E. (Help for Oncology Problems & Emotional Support). H.O.P.E. helps local cancer patients and their families. • SYCBA presented a $300 check to Southern Community Services, an affiliate of Penn-Mar Human Services. SCS helps local residents with various support services ranging from free monthly food distribution to back-to-school needs. • SYCBA awarded a $500 scholarship to Daniel Spencer at Susquehannock High School via the Southern York County School District Foundation.
In May, the SYCBA exhibits at the York County Chamber of Commerce Business and Technology Expo. The expo provides an opportunity to recruit new members and for existing members to showcase their own business through the SYCBA booth. Annually, the SYCBA holds a holiday open house where members and visitors celebrate the season and enjoy a casual lunch outing, this past year at Seven Sports Bar & Grill.
