Sarah Tremor, owner and designer of Edelfabrik By Kiett Prince
Guten Tag E N V Y Readers! We are here with none other than the energetic and spry Miss Sarah Tremor the owner, mesh designer and creator of Edelfabrik! She uses Blender, Photoshop and a little Black Forest magic to bring you original content for all mesh body types! If you didn’t guess it, she’s a German designer! We chat, we visit her store, we exchange horoscope signs and of course, I fan girl all over her! Kiett Prince (KP): *smiles warmly* Yay! Welcome to the E N V Y Magazine headquarters! *turns chair around to face Sarah, pulling out interview recorder* Oh wait Sarah! Is this your creation that you're wearing??? *Sarah is wearing a sexy outfit that reminds Kiett of a
Tokyo inspired street style pink and grey ensemble that Kiett has not seen replicated anywhere in SL! Loving it!* Sarah Tremor (Sarah Tremor): Yes Kiett :) That’s one of my latest :)! KP: *grins* I love it!’ Sarah Tremor:
:) Thank you!
KP: You're so welcome! What is this look? Is this Edgy Punk? Sarah Tremor: Well, most of my creations are slightly provocative in the way of "accidentally sexy", but not without class. And almost any of it is mix and match. KP: Which is super important! I hate not being able to mix and match! Now, the name of your store? *Kiett tries to pronounce it using a German accent* EDELFABRIK Sarah Tremor: laughs at Kiett’s accent....[Adele-fabric] :).
KP: Where'd you get the name from? *laughs at herself* Sarah Tremor: Yes, thats a German word, a 2 word combination it means "noble factory" KP: I wasn't too far off track! German! *pats herself on the back* Are you German? Sarah Tremor: Yeah, I am German. *laughs* KP: Guten! I love my Germans! I think in your style, it is very modern German and street style Tokyo to me - very sexy, very creative and unique!
12
Sarah Tremor: Yeah, that's how I see it. My creations are not gowns or haute couture. It's meant to be modern, standing out but also stuff you can wear everyday. And of course, a bit sexy. KP: nods emphatically! Yes honey! *two snaps up* What's the typical price range of your clothing items? Sarah Tremor: Ok, I do mainly complete outfits for now. So an outfit with pants, lingerie, top, shoes, piercings, a wrist watch, bangles with hud-controlled texture changer is $299499L. KP: *looks shocked and impressed!!!* That's definitely affordable! You GET ALL OF THAT!?! WOW! I’m thinking the mix and match option and all of that for original MESH creations, the combinations are endless! What's your inspiration for designing? Sarah Tremor: Well, I study fashion design in Germany. I started drawing clothes outfits at age 6 or 7. I love heels. I love clothes. Some things are inspired by my own wardrobe made a bit "sexier", some are just ideas on cuts that could work. When I started doing SL I made just lingerie or just tops. KP: Is it difficult being a business owner in SL? Sarah Tremor: Well, I started doing business in SL 2010. I got many "old creators" who helped me into getting the technical stuff right. Personally, I was able to work up to 12 hours a day for my creations sometimes on a 7 days a week basis. Is it hard? Well, it depends what you want to achieve. If you want to make a living from it, yes that's hard. If you just want to do some pretty stuff for your friends and yourself it's kinda easy. KP: You wear styles like in your store in real life? Sarah Tremor: Ha! Ha! Ha! Let us say, "like" my creations in SL, but maybe the cut is slightly not as provocative. My personal style varies from wrecked jeans, hoodie and sneakers to nice dresses and heels. As much as it would be legal to wear my SL creations in RL, as much you should have a very professional bodyguard around you *laughs*.
KP: *laughs softly* I see! I think it says more to me that as a creator and designer, your style is RL inspired and you are not just doing it to make money, but you have a passion for designing. So much of a passion, that your SL style can reflect your RL. Like RL designers Vera Wang, Vivienne Westwood and glam designers. Sarah Tremor: Well yes! When I came to SL in 2010 most of the clothes I saw [were] "latex". I was wondering how many latex things I own RL. It was just leggings. So just one part. I wanted hoodies, real jeans, sneakers, dresses I have or made in fashion school. So yes, that is right, I wanted "my" clothes in SL *smiles*. KP: *nodding emphatically* I love that about your designs!
Sarah Tremor: smiles Thank you. 13
KP: You’re very welcome! What do you want new customers and readers to know about Edelfabrik? Sarah Tremor: Well, the most important part is that I do 100% of the mesh for Edelfabrik [on] my own, of course also the textures. Unlike most other creators, you won’t find third party mass products. So yay! I am happy to be unique with my creations. My outfits are fitted Maitreya, fitted Slink Physique and Hourglass. Some of my "older" creations willl be updated to fitted Maitreya and Slink (of course for free) frequently. KP: You're an original mesh creator!? That is so rare nowadays! Very impressive! *gets impatient and has to see exactly what Edelfabrik is all about for herself!* Let's go visit your store!! Sarah Tremor: Yay! *Sara and Kiett jump up to teleport out from E N V Y Headquarters* Ok! Just so you know, I built the entire sim where the store is located.
14 Photo : Sarah Tremor
Kiett teleports into Edelfabrik store and sees a massively creative and high res photo of Sarah textured in the industrial style brick wall! The city block where Edelfabrik is located is modern and European with pops of color punching through neutral tones on a background of clean, mesh designed buildings, very similar to a Dutch city! Perfect for photographers and shoppers who love authentic settings! KP:
*covers eyes to be surprised during the tp landing!*
Sarah Tremor: Welcome to Edelfabrik! So, the outside is built after an Amsterdam Apple Store :)! And I recently made the new interior for my store so it is like rundown industrial style. KP: YOU DID THIS Sarah!!? I F*'in’ LOVE THIS PLACE! That photo with the girl and outfit, is that you in an Edelfabrik design?! Sarah Tremor: nods very quietly with a small smile KP: Kiett skips through the entire store in her heels, touching all the pretty pretty things!
Stops at the beautiful back V-cut dress that comes in most of the mesh bodies and has an Omega applier ! Oooooohhh! Sarah Tremor: <3 If you use a mesh body check if the vendor says it’s Maitreya or Slink.
hits the vendor Maitreya! buys the dress and shoes that come with it! KP:
Sarah! You are a FANTASTIC designer! Thank you so much for sitting down with E N V Y Magazine and bringing me into your store today! Sarah Tremor: Was fun :)! Thanks for coming over and [having] a look :)! Super to meet you :)!
*turns off the interview recorder; whips out her Linden credit card and booty-bumps Sarah* Where the outfits!? *spots the outfits! HUGS SARAH TIGHT AND SKIPS TO GO SHOPPING*!!! KP:
YUUSSS!!!!! I'm so glad I met you!!
Sarah Tremor: Thank you Kiett <3

MISS MODEL INTERNATIONAL TITLE : ARIANNA JASMINE AG: First I would like the thank you for sitting down with me and letting me learn and share your world with our viewers. You've won the title Miss Model International 2016. You must be so proud. AJ: Your very welcome, it's my pleasure to be here. Yes, I'm very proud it's a great honor to have won. AG: How did you find SL? AJ: I found SL through an advertisement on a website I was at. It looked fun and interesting so I joined.
AG: I always find it very interesting how people find sl. So many differences among all avatars lives and such. AG: Blushing a bit here but: Arianna Jasmine you are such an inspiration to me, as well as other new to the business models I'm sure. Your experience just floors me. AG: How did you get started in modeling? AJ: Thank you, that's very kind of you to say. I truly enjoy modeling in SL, it's been a wonderful adventure so far. AJ: Well from the start in SL I was very interested in fashion and I loved shopping and experimenting with hair and make-up. I was always fascinated when I went to fashion shows seeing the models walking the runways and posing so fluidly, they made it look effortless. I wanted to do that also so I finally took the plunge and enrolled in a modeling school. AG: Schools: You have been to three modeling schools in SL. I know when I first started thinking about getting into modeling, I opened up my sl search and put in modeling school it spit out two schools. How in the world did you find these schools? AJ: I did the research, I looked at Google of course but I also looked into other model's profiles and asked them for recommendations, then there were group references inworld as well, notices that would circulate. From all this I chose the schools I thought best. AG: Lets talk about the runway for a minute. When I watch fashion shows either in SL or real life, they seem so intense, stressful and fast paced. First: Do you get nervous? Second: What was the funniest thing you've seen on the runway? Any major bloopers? AJ: Yes I definitely did plenty of research. The runway can get intense, it's a choreographed routine and you are working with other models so it's important that you learn your part and take the cues you are being given in a timely manner. You must be paying attention every second. I was so nervous the first time I walked my hands were shaking! I still get butterflies sometimes if there is a big audience lol. Mistakes often happen on the runway it's inevitable either through lag or we ourselves do something wrong. I've seen models fall off the runway or keep walking across the room right out the door lol. 18
AG: lol I am a worrier I bet I would worry so much that I would end up falling haha AJ: Well it happens we all make mistakes, the trick is if we do make a misstep we try to remember to stop, stay where we are and just go through our routine as best we can. AG: I am wondering about freebies. Do you get free clothes and jewelry? AJ: Well one thing I'd stress to those that are interested in modeling is don't go into it thinking you are going to make tons of money, yes you do get the clothing you are being asked to model for free but more times than not you must style that outfit yourself and that means spending time and lindens on accessories, makeup hair and poses. Most of the time you are only given accessories to model such as jewelry when it's specifically an accessory show. AG: Great advice right there. So when you have say a necklace to style for a store or print. How do you find your inspiration? AJ: I take a lot of my inspiration from RL. I love looking at fashion magazines, sites such as Vogue, Elle, FashionTV, I study the runway looks of the most recent collections, and of course I take inspiration from some of the wonderful magazines we have here in SL, such as Envy. I love seeing how some of the models I admire style things, often it gives me good ideas for where to start. AG: That sounds like a lot of research and work. If you had to guess how many hours do you spend on say just one styling? AJ: Well it can be a lot of work honestly, I have been cursed with this work ethic thing that doesn't allow me to just skate by, I always have to put my all into everything and modeling is no different lol. It depends on the styling, sometimes they come together fairly easy and quickly and other times it might take me weeks to find just the right look I want. Modeling on SL is a commitment and does take time. If you want to be cast with large reputable agencies and shows you have to spend time honing your skills and perfecting your craft. That involves styling and choosing poses for your looks, practicing your walking, staying on top of what's new and finding what's different etc. Fashion on SL is a huge business and for many designers this is there prime source of income, so when you are representing their designs on the runway or in print, it's a huge responsibility to do so in the best possible light. I take that responsibility very seriously. AG: So for anyone out there who is thinking about this career they must have passion, time, L's and a drive to succeed and go beyond. Is that fair to say? AJ: Yes that is a very fair statement. It's definitely a commitment. AG: You have done Runway,Print,in store events. You've also produced and styled. Do you have a favorite?
AJ: For me I love it all but styling is always a favorite activity. It's what gives you an edge I think, it's the way you are able to express your creativity as a model. 19
AG: AriannaJasmine. You have given us new to the industry some wonderful tips. Thank you so much. AG: Now, Miss International what a tittle. do you get a crown and everything? AJ: Yes, Miss Model International was an amazing experience for me and when I won I was given a beautiful crown and some great prizes. AG: Tell me who is Miss International? Are you involved with charities? What types of Jobs are associated with the tittle?
AG: Wow that all sounds fun. I was just going to ask if you had thought about being a model mentor. That is very kind of you to do. AJ: Not at all it's my pleasure to do it and also I think my responsibility. When I started in modeling I was nervous and a bit scared. I had the great fortune of having some wonderful mentors that helped me immensely and now it's time to pay that forward. AG: smiles Now tell me how does a model go about competing for that tittle? AJ: Well we start promoting the contest several months before it actually starts. The competition is the brainchild of Ava Jhamin of L'Amour Model Management & Productions. Her team including me as the reining Miss Model International will begin appearing to promote the contest and notices will be sent out in most of the major groups. You have to be on the look out and follow the directions on submitting the required items within the deadline. There will be a series of challenges that you would then compete in. AG: I just met Ava Jhamin yesterday. She is really lovely. I found her passion for the industry very warming. AJ: yes, she's very passionate about SL fashion. AG: I don't know about our viewers but I know I'm dieing to know if this competition is catty at all? Do girls try to ruin the chances for their competitors? AJ: I'm sorry to say in the world of competition there can be those that are less than professional but most of the time you wind up making new friends and it becomes a bonding experience. With MMI I can honestly say that everyone was very friendly and kind. Everyone was helpful with one another.
AG: Honestly making new friends, that is one of the special qualities I admire about competitions. i look forward to gaining an army of friends myself. 20
ARIANNA JASMINE
AJ: Well in holding the title I'm now on the board of MMI and I will be helping to plan and execute next year's competition. We've talked about doing a charity show, it's still in the planning stages. I think as far as job responsibilities go one of the greatest that comes with the title is being there to mentor other models. That's something I take very seriously. I'm there to help with panel discussions such as the one we had with Model's Workshop about Avant Garde styling recently, and I've helped judge the Pazzo styling challenges as well. Things of that nature are within the scope of the responsibilities of the title.
AJ: you will because once you go through something like that together you definitely have a bond that is special and very strong. AG: I am super excited to get started in my career . Talking to you today has fueled my burning desire to get out there and make it happen. For that I am so thankful. Now one last question for you. AG: What events are coming up for you Arianna Jasmine? AJ: I'm so glad I was able to do that for you. For me, I have a show with Model's Giving Back on April 16th, and one on May 7th. I'm also walking in a show for Models R US on April 16th as well, and I've been nominated for Model of the Year by Dope so I will be attending the award ceremony on April 30th for that. I've also been lucky enough to be chosen as a model for Envy so I will be modeling in upcoming issues.
AG: Sounds like you will be busy busy busy these next couple of months. Again. thank you so much for this time. You really have been an inspiration to myself and I know our readers as well. We wish you much more success in your career. AJ: Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me. I enjoyed it a great deal. I wish you all the best on your career. AG: smiles and offers her hand for a shake

A word from the E N V Y Magazine Content Director By Wei Wei
First of all, a word of welcome from me to all the readers of E N V Y Magazine. I was asked to write an article, since I am of Chinese heritage. E N V Y magazine is a magazine that pays tributes to one’s heritage. I am glad to work for one of the best magazines in Second Life and to be part of such a fantastic team. The way Chinese heritage has an influence in my daily life, is that it is not allowed to be a lesbian or gay in my country. For a long long time, being gay or lesbian was mentioned in a list of mental disorders in China. In 2001, they removed it from that list, and it’s no longer a mental disorder. Despite the fact they removed it, it’s still not tolerated in China to marry a girl when you are a girl. The attitude of the Chinese government towards homosexuality is believed to be the "Three No’s": "No approval; no disapproval; no promotion." The Ministry of Health officially removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses in 2001, but same-sex marriage is still not recognized. Same-sex marriage is still not recognized in many Western countries, which are considered much more liberal in social issues than China.
The history Although same-sex unions have not formed part of the historical Chinese cultural tradition, the earliest known advocate of same-sex unions was in the 19th to 20th Century utopian reformer, Kang Youwei, who advocated temporary marriage contracts, lasting up for a year. These contracts would be for same-sex couples, as well as for heterosexual couples. However, he did not believe that China was ready for such a historic step, and deferred this policy until the future 'Datong' Utopia.
Source: www.wikipedia.com My Real Life I have quite a normal life. I know what things you can’t do when you are a lesbian. I can’t kiss my wife in public, also, often when we rent a hotel 22
room, old fashioned people who see our “hukou ( birth certificate ) and our ID-cards, will know we are a couple, and give us different rooms. The most western-oriented hotels as well, places where many youngsters come, see us as girlfriends so we can have a room together. In my daily work, I am treated with respect and people accept me for who I am. I work with a great team of medical specialists and they are all great people. My wife is also greatly accepted and there is no bad attitude towards us. When we decide to adopt a child in the future, we know this will be impossible in China. So far, I am godmother of a nice niece, and I really love her.
Bringing It All Together After reading all this, you might think how is this related to a community magazine in Second Life? Well, I am in Second Life because there are no borders; you can be who you are; and you can do what you like. If I am lesbian, gay, heterosexual, transgender, drag queen or whatever, there are no boundaries. I like that very much.
