The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences was founded by Luis B. Mayer, the head of MGM studios, in 1927. The ceremony we all love to watch however was not held until two years later. The first Academy Awards were distributed at a private dinner at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood on May 16, 1929. There were 270 in attendance, guest tickets for the event were $5 and the entire show lasted 15 minutes. Fifteen statuettes were awarded for work done during the 1927-1928 period. The first Academy Award was given to Emil Jannings, for Best Actor in his lead role in The Way of All Flesh (1927) and The Last Command (1928). Although unlike today, winners were announced to the press three months in advance for the first Academy Award. That was changed after that year and for the first 10 years winners were announced to the press at 11:00pm on the night of the Oscars. In 1941 began the tradition of the sealed envelopes to reveal the winners. In 1953 the 25th Academy Awards was the first to be televised and today we continue to enjoy watching the historical ceremony from the comfort of our own homes. Roll puff pastry tightly into a cylindrical shape and cut into 10 slices. Place pinwheels onto prepared baking sheet and bake 15 minutes or until pinwheels are golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for five minutes.

Roll out pizza dough onto oiled pizza pan.

¾ Cup Caramelized Pecans 1 package fresh blueberries 12 tart shells ¼ cup butter ¼ cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 eggs Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Whisk eggs, brown sugar, butter and vanilla in bowl until blended. Place 2 tablespoons of pecans and 1 tablespoon of blueberries in each tart shell. alentine's Day is quickly approaching and to add pressure to an already stressful holiday, it lands on a Thursday this year! Which can have many people wondering what to do. Do you celebrate Thursday? Do you wait till Friday? Or maybe Saturday? Do you have two separate celebrations? It can sometimes get overwhelming. If during your planning you decide to enjoy a romantic evening at home, then there is no better way to romance your sweetheart than with decadent, luxurious, delicious brie cheese accompanied by some fiery bubbly and indulgent desserts. Commonly referred to as "The Queen of Cheeses," brie cheese was first discovered in Brie a historic region in northern France between the Seine and Marne valleys. Discovered several hundred years ago, brie cheese use to be utilized as one of the tributes which had to be paid to French kings. This Valentine's Day treat your king or queen to a delicious garnished brie with sweet and savory toppings. Brie is known to have a creamy, buttery, intense and delicious flavor that combines perfectly with fruits and jams for a wonderful appetizer. Serve
with champagne, sparkling red or white wine, or a light bodied red wine such as pinot noir. Brie can also be placed in the oven for a few minutes to be enjoyed warm or baked into a pastry. Cut the brie in half and fill the middle with your choice of fruits, nuts, or jams and stack like a sandwich. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Wrap the brie in a puff pastry dough and then bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Once ready you can enjoy an oozing sweet and delectable dish that is worthy of a romantic night in.
