Thanks a Everyone knows that the way to a mother’s heart is through her stomach. What better way to say “I love you, Mom” than with a home-cooked brunch?

The concept of brunch became popular in the United States in the early 1930s, where the combining of breakfast and lunch into one meal was being marketed as a time and money saving strategy. Much of this marketing was done through brunch cookbooks and new food products.

Restaurants and hotels began to serve and advertise Sunday brunches in order to increase revenue. Around the 1940s, restaurants began to use Mother’s Day as a marketing ploy to get more people to come in to eat brunch. The idea was that bringing one’s mother out to eat on Mother’s Day would lessen the amount of cleaning up she would have to do for that day. So, to keep up the tradition, make sure you’re doing all the cleaning up after you treat your mom to these homemade brunch dishes!

While going out for Mother’s Day brunch is fun, taking the time to make your mom a home-cooked meal is much more special.

We know that Mother’s Day is a little different this year, but you can still show your mom how much you appreciate her with these wonderful recipes for an at-home brunch.

PREPARATION •

Take bread slices and toast them until they have turned a golden brown on each side.

Once toasted, remove from toaster and set on serving plate.

•

Place 2-3 slices of fig on each toast.

•

Crumble Great Hill Blue Cheese on top and lightly drizzle with orange fig jam.

•

Sprinkle Everything Bagel Season across each toast, serve and enjoy!

1 loaf of Italian bread, sliced

•

8oz of Great Hill Blue Cheese, crumbled

•

1 fig, thinly sliced

•

5 tbsp orange fig jam

•

1 tbsp Everything Bagel Seasoning

1/3 cup olive oil

•

12 shrimp, deveined

Kynthos Halloumi Grilled Skewers 30 minutes

4 servings

INGREDIENTS: • 1 8.8 oz package Kynthos Halloumi, sliced lengthwise into 4 pieces • 4 wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes • 1/2 cup olive oil • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes • salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

2. Slide soaked skewers into the bottom of each slice of Kynthos Halloumi.

3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, sweet chili sauce, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.

4. Generously brush the chili oil mixture over each piece of Halloumi.

5. Grill each skewer for 3-4 minutes on each side or until deeply golden brown.

INGREDIENTS: • 2 Rougette Bon•Fire Grilling Cheeses •1 large sweet onion, sliced into 1/2” thick rounds • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar • 2 pretzel buns • 1/4 cup fresh baby spinach

DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

2. Brush each side of onion slices with olive oil and sprinkle an even layer of sugar on both sides.

3. Pierce cheese with fork 3 times on each side. Carefully place onion slices and cheese on preheated grill. Close lid and grill covered for 4 minutes or until char marks appear.

4. Use a spatula to carefully flip onions and cheese. Continue grilling for 4 minutes more.

5. Place split buns on grill cut side down the last 2 minutes of cooking, or until buns are toasted.

6. Remove buns, onions and cheese from grill. Top the bun bottoms with a grilled onion slice, half of the baby spinach, one Grilling Cheese and top bun. Serve immediately.
