Throw into this a tribute to the legendary Alan Ball on Friday 4th August and appearances from legendary Liverpool locals Thomas Lang and Stan Boardman and we challenge you to find a more varied line up than this anywhere else!
We start the season with a show guaranteed to put a spring in your step. On Friday 12th & Saturday 13th May, the hysterical new musical, Secrets, starring Nicole Barber-Lane tells the tale of a plot for revenge that goes hilariously wrong. This isn’t the only piece of brilliant new theatre that we have on offer, on Tuesday 30th May, we give you a sneak peak of Liver Birds Flying Home which is guaranteed to be among the biggest shows of the Autumn Season. Don’t miss this new musical adaptation of Carla Lane’s classic series The Liver Birds. June sees the return of The Tommy Cooper Show, an hilarious celebration of the great man’s life, brought to you by Daniel Taylor Productions, catch it from Monday 26th June – Saturday 1st July. All of this leads up to the highlight of our season from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th June, a brand-new production of the modern classic The Last Five Years, a multi award-winning musical that takes audiences on an emotional rollercoaster through the heart-rending relationship of two young New Yorkers, Cathy, a vivacious struggling actress and Jamie, a hotshot up-and-coming novelist. Using a unique narrative style, the story moves in two different directions, Cathy’s story begins at the relationships tragic end and then works its way backwards towards happier times, whereas Jamie
really do have something for everyone. We start our May off with a blast as The Beach Boys Story and Ultimate Bowie pay tribute to two of the most influential and beloved musical sensations of all time. And this is only the start, the tribute shows continue throughout the season with Totally Tina honouring the queen of rock on Saturday 3rd June and Genesis Connected replicating the sound of Phil Collins and Co. and all of the biggest acts connected on Sunday 18th June. And as if all of this wasn’t enough we also have a stunning set from The Mersey Beatles on Thursday 1st June which marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the world changing album Sgt Peppers. Back following a sell-out April show this is certain to do likewise!

A plot for revenge goes hilariously wrong and when the nerves kick in, secrets come out! At Mersey Entertainments Agency, Larry and Liz (Nicole Barber-Lane) are busy organising a show for a Millionaire’s birthday party - identity a secret! Unfortunately for them though, their old enemy Metal Mick (Danny Taylor) is back in town, and is yet again blackmailing them into delivering a secret package for him on the same night. But, Liz has finally had enough of being pushed around! She secretly hatches a plot to get revenge on Mick and drive him out of town, but it all goes hilariously wrong, and when the nerves kick in, secrets come out! Adding to the madness and mayhem is a young American journalist (Izzi Feld) who has come to town to interview them for her magazine, and the secrets she has to reveal will change their lives forever!

THOMAS LANG Thursday 22nd June 2017 | Starts: 8pm Tickets: £19 It’s 30 years since the critically acclaimed CBS/Sony Epic release of ‘Scallywag Jaz’ and this year see’s it re release on Cherry Red Records with bonus Live tracks from last year’s sell out tour, some unreleased tracks and new tracks showing that his voice has stood the 30 year test of time. Thomas Lang is a Toxteth born, Liverpool based singer-songwriter, best known for the jazz-tinged song ‘The Happy Man’, which spent 3 weeks in the UK top 100 singles chart in 1988. He released his first album, the critically acclaimed ‘Scallywag Jaz’, on CBS/Sony in 1987. He’s worked with Suzanne Vega, Alison Moyet, Madeleine Peyroux, Freda Pane and Peabo Brycon among others, and live dates included several residencies at London’s Ronnie Scott’s and shows with the legendary Nina Simone. Thomas continues to play live with his band. He released a live album ‘Torch’ in 2014 which was recorded at Liverpool Philharmonic and is a tribute to some of his hero’s Billie, Ella, Frank et al. Lang released a new studio album in 2016, ‘The German Alphabet’ on Klee Records.

Find out what happens to Elle when she finds herself defending a work-out queen in a murder trial... Will blonde save the day? AN AUDIENCE WITH STAN BOARDMAN Saturday 15th July & Friday 29th September 2017 Starts: 7.30pm | Tickets: £20 From Scottie Road and being bombed out by the Germans during the War, when his brother was actually killed, this unscripted show will be unique and entertaining and Stan will document his struggles and successes. Along with the laughs, for the very first time the show will give a fascinating insight into Stan’s life and growing up in Liverpool. The show will consist of his stand-up routines, archive clips on the big screen including the famous ‘Fokker’ incident from Des O’Connor, and an interactive chat with the audience who will be able to pose questions to him.

THE EPSTEIN IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT IT WILL BE STARTING IT’S OWN YOUTH THEATRE IN SEPTEMBER 2017.
The programme is aimed at young people from across Merseyside aged 14-19. The aim is to provide interested like minded youths with the opportunity to experience everything that the world of theatre has to offer. We aim to develop strong, confident and versatile young performers, and provide them with the opportunity to explore new skills in a safe and welcoming environment. We will offer workshops from experienced theatre technicians leading to two performances per annum at the Epstein Theatre. Entrance is by free audition which will be an hour long workshop covering various skills. Reasonably priced termly fees will then apply with two free scholarships being awarded per annum. Auditions will take place in July for September start. We will also be offering two scholarships per annum, these will be awarded to suitable candidates. If you are attending an Epstein show then please ask a member of staff at our box office to validate your car park ticket from St Johns to park for up to 6 hours for only £2 from 6pm onwards.
