All requests for interviews with student-athletes and coaches should be made with the Sports Information Office, preferably with a 24-hour notice. Coach Bohon is available to the media Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On game days, interviews will be conducted only following the contest. THE SEASON

The Embry-Riddle women’s soccer team made program history in 2011 by reaching the quarterfinal stage of the NAIA National Tournament for the first time. The Eagles repeated that performance in 2012 and this year’s squad has even higher expectations for the 2013 campaign. Head Coach Samantha Bohon believes that this team has the potential to have one of the most successful seasons in program history. “I think we’ve got the talent that if we can stay healthy and get a couple of bounces to go our way, I can see us making the deepest run at the national tournament in program history,” Bohon said. “We have great depth from top to bottom, which is something we haven’t really ever had in the past. We have two solid goalkeepers, a solid back line, phenomenal depth in the midfield and a bunch of offensive weapons up top. I’m really excited to see what we can accomplish in 2013.”

After losing All-Conference goalkeeper Lauren Gallant, who had been the starter in 43 of the Eagles 44 games in 2011 and 2012, the Blue and Gold will turn to a pair of sophomores in net for the 2013 season. A familiar face returns to the roster in the person of Jen Grimes, the Eagles’ starting goalkeeper from the 2010 season. Grimes, who still has three years of eligibility remaining, was 10-3-2 in 2010, recording five shutouts and a 1.20 goals against average. “Jen won the starting spot over two really good goalkeepers when she was a freshman, so we’re really excited to add her back into the mix,” Bohon stated. “She is probably the best goalkeeper I’ve ever coached in terms of 1-v-1’s; she is phenomenal at coming out and making saves in those situations.” Returning from last year’s squad is Olivia Lynch, a sophomore who appeared in five games in 2012. Lynch played nearly 195 minutes without allowing a goal, finishing the season with one save and a 1-0-0 record. “The sky is the limit with Olivia,” Bohon commented. “Her athleticism is absolutely incredible. She worked a lot with Heriberto (Aguilar), our goalkeeping coach, and she is ready to come in and compete for the starting job.”

The Eagles have plenty of experience in the back line, led by three-time All-American Tova Torstensson, who is one of three senior defenders on the roster. Torstensson has started all 64 games in her three seasons, tallying three goals and eight assists while anchoring the defense. “Tova is the heart and soul of our defense,” Bohon remarked. “Her leadership and work rate in the back are a big reason why we’ve had such a successful defense for the last three years.” Another key defender is Brianna Zangara who will be returning as a fifth-year senior. Zangara started 39 of ERAU’s 40 games in 2009 and 2010 before redshirting in 2011 with an injury. She recovered from the injury

to start all 23 games last season as a central defender. “Brianna did a great job bouncing back last year,” Bohon said. “She brings a lot of experience to the back line for us.” Senior Rebekka Gisladottir, an All-Conference selection last year, has started 31 games over the past two seasons for the Eagles, helping the Blue and Gold to 17 shutouts. “Rebekka is a very experienced and very dependable player,” Bohon stated. “Her presence in the back line along with our other veterans will really help us this season as we introduce a new starting goalkeeper.” Gudrun Johnson is a freshman who has an opportunity to earn a good deal of playing time as an outside back. Johnson comes to Embry-Riddle from Reykjavik, Iceland where she played club soccer for 13 seasons. “Gudrun has stepped in and filled the fourth spot on defense in the preseason,” Bohon commented. “She provides us with some speed on the flank and is a player who gives us an attacking presence in the back.” Another option for the Blue and Gold is Maggie Maier, who saw action in eight games last season as a sophomore. “Maggie has shown the she is capable of stepping in to one of the center back positions,” Bohon remarked. “Whether she is starting or coming off the bench, she is definitely a solid option for us.” Sophomore Janina Helwig started all 23 games last season, playing primarily as a defender. This year Bohon plans to use her as both a defender and a midfielder. “Janina is our little Energizer bunny,” Bohon said. “She can run and run all day. Whether she is playing as an outside back or in the midfield, she brings a great deal of fitness to the position and a solid commitment to work hard on the field.”

“In the midfield we have a ton of depth,” Bohon stated. “We have seven really good players that can play midfield, which is why we’ve considered the idea of changing up our formation to incorporate more midTova Torstensson

fielders so that we can have our best players on the field.” Martine Olsen returns for her senior season and will be looked to as one of the key offensive threats for the Eagles. Olsen, a three-time All-Conference selection, set the program’s single-season record with 27 goals two years ago and has a total of 58 goals in three seasons. Olsen is just seven goals shy of topping ERAU’s scoring chart, a milestone that is seemingly well within her reach. “Martine can play defensive or attacking midfield, or she can be dangerous as a forward,” Bohon commented. “She played most of the 2012 season hampered by a lingering back injury, so we’re excited to see what she can do if she can have an injury-free senior season.” Junior Katherine Ebbs was a first-team All-Conference selection in her first season at Embry-Riddle last year after leading the team with 11 assists. “Katherine is probably our purest playmaker,” Bohon remarked. “She is very solid on the ball and really good at set pieces. She does a good job distributing the ball and is also strong in the air.” Sophomore Kristin Sverrisdotir suffered an injury early last season but bounced back to play in 15 games, tallying two goals and three assists. “Kristin is one of our more technical players and can drive a ball better than most players on our team,” Bohon said. “She suffered an injury last year that prevented her from ever getting back up to full speed, but she is coming into this season fit and ready to go.” Junior Gabriela Casariego appeared in nine games last year, totaling five points on two goals and an assist. “Gabriela is a little bit more of an offensive-minded midfielder,” Bohon stated. “She is very technical and very solid on the ball, and she also sees plays develop really well.” A freshman who has an opportunity to earn a lot of playing time is Johanna Karlsson, a native of Vellinge, Sweden. “I expect Johanna to come in and immediately be an impact player, whether she’s a starter or one of our first reserves off the bench,” Bohon commented. “She is a very smooth player who is comfortable with the ball at her feet.” After transferring from Eastern Florida State College prior to last year, junior Dana Robins missed the 2012 season due to an injury. “We see Dana being the consummate holding center midfielder,” Bohon remarked. “She plays one or two

A three-time All-Conference selection, Valerie Obita returns for her senior season as one of the top offensive threats in The Sun Conference. Obita led the Eagles in goals (21) and points (47) last year and has scored 54 goals in her three seasons at Embry-Riddle. “Valerie scored some big goals for us last year,” Bohon said. “She’s a really good defending forward and she creates a lot of her own chances by picking off passes out of the back and midfield. The Eagles are slated to play a very difficult schedule in 2013, highlighted by games against defending NAIA National Champion Lindsey Wilson and NCAA I Stetson. Five of ERAU’s seven non-conference opponents are ranked in the Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, including Lindsey Wilson (1), Concordia (5) and Mobile (7) that are all ranked in the top 10. “I feel like I say this every year, but this is the hardest schedule we’ve ever had,” Bohon remarked. “All but two of our non-conference opponents are teams that made the NAIA National Tournament last year; one of those is Stetson and the other is Auburn Montgomery, who some would argue should have made the tournament last season. We continue to schedule a high level of competition because it is preparation for us to be as good as we can be when we get to October and November.” Katherine Ebbs

Andrea Frøshaug joins the Blue and Gold as a sophomore from Oslo, Norway, where she was a member of Norway’s U-20 National Team. “Andrea is an incredibly dangerous forward,” Bohon said. “She is very explosive; it’s like she’s getting shot out of a cannon when she goes. She is also very strong and powerful and has a natural goal-scoring personality.” Freshman Isabelle Haaranen, a native of Arsunda, Sweden who played Swedish club soccer with Tova Torstensson, is expected to see time at forward as well. “Isabelle is very strong physically and will not get pushed off the ball,” Bohon stated. “She is very efficient and effective; she read the game incredibly well. She’s not a flashy forward but she is quick. I’m really excited about adding her to our team because whether she plays as a target forward or an outside forward or even an attacking midfielder, she can play all of them really well.” Two other options for the Eagles up top are sophomore Caitlyn Rymarchyk and freshman Aimee Kasmally who both made the team as walk-ons during spring tryouts. “We haven’t had a walk-on make the team in a long time, which illustrates how highly we thought of Caitlyn and Aimee,” Bohon commented. “They each showed a

touches quickly and has really good serves, so we are excited to see what she can do after watching from the bench last season.”

The Eagles kick off the season with a short trip to DeLand, Fla. to take on NCAA I Stetson on Aug. 23. The Hatters defeated the Eagles, 2-1, last season, so the Blue and Gold will be looking to avenge that loss. The following weekend, ERAU will play a pair of contests at home, beginning with an Aug. 31 matchup against William Carey, a team that enters the season ranked 14th in the nation. The next day the Eagles will face Mobile, the preseason seventh-ranked team . The Blue and Gold will hit the road to take on Auburn Montgomery (Sept. 6) and Lindsey Wilson (Sept. 8). LWC won the national championship last season,

earning the No. 1 ranking in the final poll with a 20-4-1 record, and enters 2013 as the top-ranked team in the preseason poll. Beginning on Sept. 13, Embry-Riddle will host the Habitat for Humanity Invitational. The Eagles will play Kansas Wesleyan on Sept. 13 and Concordia (Ore.) on Sept. 15. KWU comes into the season ranked 11th, while Concordia is No. 5 in the preseason poll. League play kicks off on Sept. 26 when Webber International visits Daytona Beach, followed by a Sept. 29 contest against Warner at home. On Oct. 4, the Eagles will travel to Savannah, Ga. for a match against SCAD Savannah before battling South Carolina Beaufort in Bluffton, S.C. on Oct. 6. The Blue and Gold will take on Northwood, the defending Sun Conference regular season champions, on Oct. 11 in Daytona Beach. The Seahawks defeated Embry-Riddle in the league’s first-ever Regular Season Championship last year to earn one of the conference’s two automatic bids to the NAIA National Tournament. Northwood enters the 2013 campaign ranked 10th in the preseason poll. After a home tilt against Johnson & Wales on Oct. 13, ERAU will play road contests at Ave Maria (Oct. 17) and Southeastern (Oct. 19) to close out the road portion of the 2013 regular season slate. Embry-Riddle’s final regular season game is scheduled for Oct. 26 against Thomas at home, which will be Senior Night, a chance to honor the Blue and Gold’s five seniors. The Sun Conference Regular Season Championship, which will pit the North Division and South Division regular season champions against each other, will be held on Nov. 6. The team with the best regular season conference record will host the game, with the winner earning the league’s first automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The conference tournament will then begin on Nov. 7, with three first round games taking place on the campuses of the higher seeds. The loser of the Regular Season Championship will automatically assume the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will host one of the semifinals on Nov. 9, while the highest remaining seed from the first round will host the other semifinal that same day. The higher seed of the two finalists will host the conference championship on Nov. 15, with the winner earning the league’s second automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.

athletic facilities The ICI Center

The ICI Center has been the home of Embry-Riddle men’s basketball and volleyball since 1995. The ICI Center seats 1,968 spectators overall, including 642 permanent chair-back seats on the south sideline. The main arena features Grade I maple Aacer Channel floor and two 189-square-foot Daktronics LED scoreboards.

Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium

The state-of-the-art Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium is regarded as one of the premier soccer facilities at the NAIA level. The lighted field features a 33-by-15 foot Daktronics scoreboard with message center and 120-by70 yard bermuda-grass playing surface and a 1,000 seat grandstand and press box.

Sliwa Stadium

The home of Embry-Riddle baseball has dimensions of 330 feet down each line and 400 feet to straight-away

center. In the spring of 2006, a gated brick entrance was added along with a covered grandstand with seating for 615 spectators and a press box.

Crotty Tennis Complex

The Ambassador E. William Crotty Tennis Center features nine lighted tennis courts, three sets of bleachers for 50 spectators each and an electronic scoreboard that can show set scores for six matches simultaneously. In 2004, the complex earned national recognition as one of 15 facilities claiming USTA Facility Awards.

Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex

The Embry-Riddle Track Complex, which was completed by the spring of 2006, has an eight-lane, 400-meter track with 14mm Mondo Super X track surface, a 120by-70 yard soccer field inside the track and bi-directional runways for the pole vault, long and triple jump and a high jump apron and a water pit for the steeplechase. Three

throwing areas were added at the start of the 2012 season, including hammer, discus and shot put with landing areas. In the months leading up to the 2012 London Olympics, the ERAU Track & Field Complex served as the training ground for several of the world’s elite athletes, including 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the triple jump, Christian Taylor.

Embry-Riddle Softball Stadium

Completed in 2011, the Embry-Riddle Softball Complex features dimensions of 197 feet down the lines and 218 feet to straightaway center. The outfield is made up of Tifway 419 bermuda grass and the Daktronics scoreboard is prominently displayed beyond the outfield wall. The scoreboard is 20 feet wide and 14.5 feet tall and it features PanaView ®LED digits to display. The softball complex hosted its first intercollegiate softball contest in the spring of 2013.

the sun conference With the addition of Thomas to The Sun Conference membership in 2012, the number of schools in the league that sponsor women’s soccer grew to 12. The NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship is a 31-team single-elimination tournament consisting of 15 national championship opening round matches. The Opening Round contests will be played at various campus sites around the country on Nov. 23. The 15 opening round winners will then advance to the NAIA National Chmpionship final site at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala. where they will join host University of Mobile for a six-day tournament, which runs from Dec. 2-7.

Following an extensive nationwide search, Daytona Beach native, Samantha Bohon was selected to lead the Embry-Riddle women’s soccer program in 2007, making her only the second head coach in program history. In six seasons with the Eagles, Bohon has led the Blue and Gold to six consecutive postseason appearances. After finishing third in The Sun Conference regular season standings in 2007 and 2008, the Eagles captured a share of the conference crown in 2009, earning Bohon league Co-Coach of the Year honors. The following season, Bohon won the award outright as the Blue and Gold finished second in a very tight league race. Embry-Riddle secured spots in the NAIA National Championship as tournament hosts in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, the Eagles defeated tournament favorite Northwood on their home field to claim the conference tournament title and earn an automatic bid to the national tournament. A year later, Bohon coached her squad to a repeat of that performance as ERAU took another road win against the Seahawks to return to the national tournament for the fourth straight year. The 2011 campaign was a historical one for ERAU women’s soccer. The Eagles finished at 18-3-1 overall and 9-1 in conference and came away with their third conference tournament title in as many years in thrilling fashion with a 2-1 victory in overtime against St. Thomas. The Blue and Gold notched a 1-0 home win against Judson in the NAIA Opening Round to advance to the national tournament final site, which featured the 16 Opening Round winners. For the first time ever, the Eagles earned a win in the second round of the tournament and made it to the elite eight before they were knocked out by four-time defending national champion, Lee. Bohon’s squad was ranked fourth in the postseason poll, marking the highest ranking of any women’s soccer team in ERAU history. The Eagles’ accomplishments in 2011 earned Bohon NAIA NSCAA/Mondo East Region Coach of the Year honors. The 2012 season saw the Eagles post another remarkable season, which included a 3-1 upset of topranked and four-time defending national champion Lee and the program’s highest ever ranking of No. 4 in the NAIA national polls. Her efforts afforded Bohon NAIA/NSCAA Regional and Sun Confererence Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year. In her six-year tenure as the Eagles’ head coach, Bohon has had 10 All-Americans, 10 honorable mention All-Americans, one Sun Conference Player of the Year, three league Newcomers of the Year, 29 first-team All-Conference and seven second-team All-Conference selections. Bohon’s teams support the ERAU Athletics StudentPerson-Player philosophy. They have performed well in the classroom, garnering NAIA Scholar Team honors with team grade point averages of 3.11, 3.32 and 3.25 in 2010, 2011 and 2012, respectively. Over the last six years, ERAU women’s soccer has produced 11 NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes and 11 Academic All-Conference selections, as well as four Sun Conference Champions of Character Award winners. Additionally, nine other individuals have been awarded ERAU’s Champions of Character Scholarship, including Lauren Gallant who was The Sun Conference’s selection for the NAIA’s 2012 Dr. Leroy Walker Champions of Character Award. Prior to taking a two-year hiatus from the coaching realm, Bohon spent four years as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee (2001-05), where she served as the Lady Vols’ recruiting coordinator and was responsible for team defense. During her tenure, the Lady Vols won three Southeastern Conference titles, made three NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances, and were ranked in the Top 10 in three of her four seasons. In 2003, Bohon managed a Lady Vol defense that allowed a program-low 18 goals in 24 matches and set new school records in shutouts (12) and goals against average (0.73). Her efforts on the recruiting trail brought in a class that was ranked fifth nationally and was tops in the SEC and the Central Region in 2005. Head Coach Samantha Baggett Bohon announced Liam McIlhatton as an Embry-Riddle women’s soccer assistant coach in the spring of 2010. McIlhatton is no stranger to Embry-Riddle as he played four seasons with the men’s team from 2003-06. McIlhatton’s impact on the men’s lineup was immediate as he earned a spot in the first 11 as a freshman and kept his job as a starting defensive midfielder throughout his career. He played in every match in his first three seasons with the Blue and Gold and was on his way to doing the same as a senior, but was sidelined by a season-ending injury against Lindsey Wilson

As a senior, she worked her way into fifth place on the Duke single-season scoring charts after registering 28 points (13 goals, 2 assists). Bohon continued to contribute to the Blue Devils’ success on the field as a volunteer assistant coach for the 1998 and 1999 seasons. She also interned at the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Ind. where she assisted with the operations of the 2001 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s basketball championships. Bohon is also very active in the local community, serving on the Children’s Advocacy Center Board of Advisors as well as the Campus Outreach-Florida Board. She also runs the Embry-Riddle/Samantha Bohon Soccer School, which had its inaugural camp season in July 2008.

Third Season Warner (2008) Head Coach Samantha Bohon named Heriberto Aguilar to the ERAU’s women’s soccer coaching staff in the summer of 2011. A native of Crescent City, Fla., Aguilar is primarily responsible for the development of the Eagles’ goalkeeping corps. Aguilar is very familiar with The Sun Conference having played and coached for ERAU’s league foe Warner. Aguilar earned four letters for the Royals after joining Warner’s men’s soccer team in 2003. At the conclusion of his playing career, he continued to be a part of Warner soccer, moving over to the women’s soccer

program as a volunteer assistant coach. After working with both the men’s and women’s soccer programs as the goalkeeping coach in the 2008 season, Aguilar was named the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach in December of that year. In addition to his collegiate coaching responsibilities, Aguilar also coached at the high school and youth club levels. Although new to the soccer program, Serra is no stranger to ERAU Athletics as she was four-year letterwinner on the ERAU women’s golf team. As a freshman, she averaged a 78.7 on the way to

All-Sun Conference honors. The following year, she competed in 10 events for the Blue and Gold, posting an 81.9 season average. Her four-round score of 320 in the final tournament of the year helped the Eagles to a runner-up finish at the NAIA National Championship. As a junior, she averaged a 79.4 and earned two

top-five finishes in 10 events and closed out her career shooting 82.2 on average, which helped the Eagles to third place at the national championship. Serra is working toward a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Air Traffic Management. She expects to graduate in December 2013.

The Sun Conference, formerly the Florida Sun Conference, is heading into its 24th season of competition and continues to be one of the most successful intercollegiate athletic conferences in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The institutions in the conference believe in strong educational commitment combined with balanced athletic competition. Originally formed in March 1990 as the Florida Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (FIAC), The Sun Conference was established as a conference for small independent institutions within the NAIA. The name “Florida Sun Conference” was adopted in 1992. The league unveiled its new name, “The Sun Conference” on August 18, 2008 to be inclusive of member schools from Georgia and South Carolina. Under the guidance of commissioner Mark Pope, the league sponsors championships in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field, and field and women’s volleyball. Sun Conference teams are perennial contenders for national titles. In 2013-14, 36 teams made national tournament appearances. The Embry-Riddle men’s tennis team captured the 2013 NAIA National Championship while the Eagles’ women’s golf and baseball teams finished third in their respective national championships. Additionally, the league racked up numerous individual national titles as Embry-Riddle’s Patrick Besch won the ITA/NAIA National singles title, while the Eagles’ Reta Woodard, Nicole Bonk and Mike Edwards won national titles in track and field. Northwood’s Ra’Shad James was named the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Year in 2013 while ERAU’s Deni Zmak was named the Ward Ballinger

Award winner in men’s tennis. Additionally, EmbryRiddle’s Dave Paschal earned national Coach of the Year honors for men’s tennis. In 2013-14 alone, 64 student-athletes from the league were named NAIA All-Americans, while 144 TSC athletes were also named Daktronics-NAIA AllAmerica Scholar-Athletes. Embry-Riddle finished first in The Sun Conference Commissioner’s Cup, which is awarded annually to the strongest athletic program in the league. Since the league’s inception in 1990, only five teams have captured the Commissioner’s Cup, formerly known as the All-Sports Trophy. Embry-Riddle won its 14th straight cup in 2012-13, continuing to set the mark for cups won. Former member Nova Southeastern is second with five honors, St. Thomas is third (2), while Webber International and Flagler each earned the award during the first two years of the conference. The roots of The Sun Conference date back to 1990 when the league was originally formed as the Florida Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Original membership consisted of Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Florida Memorial, Nova (now Nova Southeastern), Palm Beach Atlantic, St. Thomas, Webber International and Warner Southern. The league grew to nine members with the addition of Northwood in 1994. Between 2002 and 2006, Nova Southeastern, Palm Beach Atlantic and Flagler moved to NCAA II, but the league recruited new members as SCAD Savannah joined in 2004 followed by Edward Waters in 2006. With the addition of South Carolina Beaufort, Johnson and Wales, Southeastern, Ave Maria and Thomas (Ga.) within the last four years, along with Edward Waters’ move to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, the league membership now stands at 12 schools.

Fifth-Ranked Eagles Take Down No. 1 Lee

One of the biggest wins in program history came on Sept. 9 when the Eagles toppled the top-ranked and four-time defending national champion Lee, 3-1. The game took place on Embry-Riddle’s campus as part of the Habitat for Humanity Invitational. The Lady Flames came into the contest riding a 21-game winning streak, while the Eagles were 3-2 on the season. Lee got on the board first when Caroline Scales lifted a high ball into the box hoping to connect with one of her teammates, but ERAU netminder Lauren Gallant slipped as she attempted to make a save and the ball sailed over her head and into the net for the Lee goal. After knocking on the door, the Eagles broke through in the 37th minute and the score came as a result of the Eagles’ third corner kick of the game. Katherine Ebbs was on the spot to take the corner and her flighted ball bounced off a couple of players to Allison Schultz on the far post and Schultz passed it into the net to tie the score. In the second half, Krizzy Menez won the ball at midfield and got it to Valerie Obita on the right side. Obita turned and pushed the ball by her defender and that move, coupled with her speed, allowed the junior race into the box unimpeded. Once inside the box she struck the ball beneath the diving Lee goalkeeper into the lower left corner of the goal to put the Eagles up 2-1. Their second goal boosted the Eagles’ confidence and they continued to pressure the Lee defense. That pressure paid off with seven minutes left in the match. Obita’s cross from just outside the penalty box on the right side found Ebbs whose shot was blocked, but the ball fell into the path of Menez on the left. Her initial shot was deflected, but the ball landed at the Menez’s feet once again and she rifled home her fourth goal of the year to secure the 3-1 win, the Eagles’ first against a top-five opponent.

ERAU Blanks Bobcats to Win TSC Tournament

After falling to Northwood in the league’s first-ever regular season championship, the Blue and Gold entered the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. A 4-1 win over Webber International in the semifinals gave the Eagles the chance to host second-seeded St. Thomas in the championship. In the first half, Embry-Riddle dominated on the offensive end, outshooting the Lady Bobcats 7-2. In the 29th minute Martine Olsen played a long ball across the field to Valerie Obita who took a couple of touches before depositing the ball into the upper 90 of the net, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Embry-Riddle struck again as Olsen took advantage of a ball spilled by the STU goalkeeper and put the ball into the wide open net to make the score 2-0. In the 65th minute, the Blue and Gold added an insurance goal. Obita gathered the ball at the midfield stripe and with a deft touch, completed a short pass to Krizzy Menez. The pass put Menez in a one-v-one situation with the Bobcats’ last defender and the Eagle senior outpaced her marker, racing down the field into the box. She measured her shot and beat the St. Thomas goalkeeper into the lower right corner to seal the 3-0 win.

Eagles Reach National Quarterfinals with Big Wins

The ERAU women’s soccer team earned the No. 7 seed in the NAIA National Championship, which came with it the right to play its Opening Round game at home. The Blue and Gold played host to Faulkner on Nov. 17 and Embry-Riddle dominated from start to finish.

The Eagles celebrate a goal against Lee on the way to their first-ever win over a top-ranked opponent The Eagles asserted themselves from the beginning, with Valerie Obita opening the scoring in just the third minute of play. Ten minutes later, Obita doubled the lead when she outpaced the Faulkner back line, racing downfield 50 yards to slip a shot past the keeper into the lower right corner of the net. Faulkner cut the deficit to one just before halftime, but the Blue and Gold responded immediately as Ange Durston-Ryan was able to best the keeper and restore the two-goal lead for Embry-Riddle. The Eagles did not let up in the second half and Katherine Ebbs’ free kick in the 49th minute made it 4-1.

Durston-Ryan put the finishing touches on the victory when she put home the fifth goal with just one second showing on the clock. The win over Faulkner secured a spot for the Eagles in the NAIA National Championship Final Site, which was held in Orange Beach, Ala. The Blue and Gold drew unseeded Robert Morris in the Round of 16. Once again, Embry-Riddle got off to a fast start, with Helena Hansson scoring in the 10th minute to put ERAU up, 1-0. A defensive miscue that led to an own goal gave the Blue and Gold a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute. Two minutes later, Krizzy Menez headed home a goal

Eagles Wrap Up No. 7 Spot in Postseason Poll

The Blue and Gold ended the 2012 campaign ranked as the No. 7 team in the NAIA after capturing the program’s fourth consecutive Sun Conference tournament tile en route to the second straight NAIA National Championship quarterfinal appearance. The No. 7 ranking represents the highest-ever final ranking in program history. Embry-Riddle went 13-5 overall in the regular season including an 8-1 record in league play. The Eagles outscored their opponents 18-6 in postseason play and closed out the 2012 season with an 17-6 overall record.

Eagles Garner Conference and National Honors

The 2012 season saw a number of Eagles receive accolades at the conference and national levels. Krizzy Menez received a great deal of recognition after finishing second on the team in points (40) and assists (10), while ranking third on the squad with 15 goals. She was honored as a first team All-Sun Conference performer and earned spots on the NAIA All-America first team and the NSCAA All-America first team. Valerie Obita also earned a spot on the All-Conference first team and was selected to the NAIA All-America second team and the NSCAA All-America second team. Obita led the Eagles in goals (21) and points (47) in 2012. Helena Hansson was also a first team All-Conference selection and a second team NAIA and NSCAA AllAmerica. Hansson anchored the back line that helped the Eagles post nine shutouts and a 1.00 goals against average on the year. In addition, Hansson chipped in three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. Tova Torstensson was also selected to the All-Sun Conference first team and the NSCAA All-America second team, and received recognition as a member of the NAIA All-America third team. The junior helped to solidify the right side of the Eagle defense and contributed four points on four assists. Martine Olsen was named to the All-Conference second team in addition to collecting NAIA All-America honorable mention accolades. Olsen finished the season second in goals (16) and third in points (38), moving her into second place in both career categories at Embry-Riddle. Olsen will enter her senior season six goals and 32 points behind Elina Johansson’s all-time marks of 64 goals and 170 points. Lauren Gallant had a solid senior season in goal for the Eagles, recording four shutouts, 68 saves and a 1.10 GAA, earning her a spot on the All-Conference first team.

Joining the five aforementioned players on the AllConference first team were Rebekka Gisladottir and Katherine Ebbs. Gisladottir played in 17 matches as a central defender, scoring one point with an assist against Warner (Oct. 7). Ebbs scored four goals and tallied a team-leading 11 assists for 19 points in 23 matches. Earning a spot on the All-Conference second team was Allison Schultz, who scored four goals and one assist for a total of nine points. Schultz put home the game-winning goal against Thomas on Oct. 10.

Bohon Garners Coach of the Year Honors

Head coach Samantha Bohon picked up The Sun Conference Coach of the Year award after guiding the Eagles to an 8-1 record in league play and winning the North Division title. Bohon also led the team to its fourth straight conference tournament title and and second NAIA National Championship quarterfinal appearance. She also garnered NAIA/NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year honors.

In the 20th minute, Menez used her speed to sprint into the sixyard box with possession where she sent a square ball to Valerie Obita who tapped home the fourth goal of the game for the Eagles. After Robert Morris got on the board in the 29th minute off of a corner kick, Embry-Riddle reestablished its four-goal cushion when Olsen converted a penalty kick in the 39th minute. Obita sealed the deal with a score in the 41st minute for a 6-1 final. In the quarterfinals, national champion and No. 2 seed Lindsey Wilson put the Eagles back on their heels early, outshooting ERAU 15-0 and holding a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks in the first half. The offensive pressure resulted in three first-half goals by the Blue Raiders. The Eagles picked up their game in the second half, outshooting their opponent 6-2 in the period, but they were unable to overcome the early deficity, closing out the 2012 season with a 3-0 loss to LWC.

Eagle Trio Receives Academic Accolades

The Blue and Gold also racked up awards off the field, highlighted by Martine Olsen’s multiple academic awards. Olsen was named an NAIA-Daktronics ScholarAthlete, a first team Capital One Academic All-District honoree, a first team Capital One Academic All-American and was an Academic All-Conference selection. Olsen currently holds a 3.85 GPA in Business Administration. Lauren Gallant also earned multiple off-the-field accolades, including receiving The Sun Conference Champions of Character Award for the second straight year. Like Olsen she was named an NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete and was an Academic All-Conference selection. Gallant had a 3.85 GPA in Aeronautical Science. Krizzy Menez joined Olsen as a Capital One Academic All-District first team selection. Menez had a 3.48 GPA in Engineering Physics.

the university Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the world’s oldest, largest and most prestigious university specializing in aviation and aerospace. The curriculum covers the operation, engineering and research of modern aircraft, alternative vehicles and clean energy systems and the management of aviation and aerospace organizations. Approximately 34,000 students pursue degrees from among 40 degree programs at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., and at more than 150 education centers for working professionals in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. Embry-Riddle also offers online coursework. Embry-Riddle’s worldwide reputation for academic excellence draws students from all 50 states and nearly 90 nations. The 185-acre Daytona Beach campus, located next to Daytona Beach International Airport, has 4,600 undergraduate and 610 graduate students. History

On Dec. 17, 1925, 22 years after the historic flight of the Wright Flyer, barnstormer John Paul Riddle and entrepreneur T. Higbee Embry founded the Embry-Riddle Company at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio. The following spring the company opened the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University began with a simple plan to train airplane pilots in a thorough, efficient manner and to cash in on a booming post-World War I interest in flying. Today, Embry-Riddle leads the world in aviation and aerospace higher education. After a period of decline in the 1930s, Embry-Riddle sprang to life again in Miami, Fla., as World War II erupted in Europe and the demand for aviators and mechanics surged. Allied nations sent more than 25,000 young men to Embry-Riddle’s Florida centers to become pilots and aviation technicians. During the Korean War the U.S. Air Force contracted with Embry-Riddle to train airmen in the fundamentals of airplane maintenance. In the following decades, Embry-Riddle expanded its international outreach and strengthened its academic programs. In 1965, Embry-Riddle consolidated its flight training, ground school and technical training programs into one location. With dollars and trucks borrowed from civic leaders, the move to Daytona Beach signaled the rebirth of Embry-Riddle as an accredited university and the start of its odyssey to world-class status.

Academics

Embry-Riddle is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees at the associate, bachelor and master levels. At many public universities, freshmen and sophomores are taught by graduate assistants, but not so at Embry-Riddle. Classes, which average 25 students, are taught by faculty who are accessible to students in class, during office hours and through universitywide voice mail and e-mail.

In September 2012, the “Best Colleges” guidebook published by U.S. News & World Report ranked Embry-Riddle’s undergraduate Aerospace Engineering program No. 1 in the nation. Embry-Riddle was also named to the top tier of universities granting mainly bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Embry-Riddle has three campuses: - traditional, residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., and the Worldwide Campus provides educational opportunities to working adults at more than 150 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, Canada and the Middle East. Embry-Riddle’s 100,000 plus alumni include six astronauts

The student/faculty ratio at the Daytona Beach campus is 15-to-1 and the average class size is 23. Embry-Riddle offers 23 undergraduate degree programs administered by the Colleges of Aviation, Arts & Sciences, Business Engineering. ERAU also offers 10 graduate degrees, as well as doctoral programs in Aviation and Engineering Physics. The undergraduate enrollment at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach campus is 5,120. Of that number, 17 percent are international students representing 98 countries.

John P. Johnson was appointed as president of Embry-Riddle in 2005 after serving as the university’s provost and chief academic officer. Under his leadership, research has expanded and new degree programs have been created in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and global security/intelligence studies, as well as Ph.D.s in aviation and engineering physics. The university is also pursuing a global strategy to take its aviation and aerospace expertise over-

seas. Before joining Embry-Riddle, Johnson served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and professor of biology at Texas A&M University, Texarkana. In other positions he was dean of the College of Health Professions and professor of Physical Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina; dean of the College of Professional Studies and professor at Northern Kentucky; professor of Speech and Hearing Science and department chairman at Lamar; and clinic director and assistant professor at Bowling Green State. Johnson has taught courses at all levels in the fields of biology and speech and hearing science. In addition, he has published extensively in his discipline and has been a tenured full professor at four universities. He has been successful in developing new degree programs, increasing enrollment, enhancing scholarly productivity and improving the internal climate and collegiality between faculty and administration at several institutions. Johnson earned a B.A. and an M.S. from Florida State University and a Ph.D. from Kent State University. He completed post-doctoral programs of study in academic administration at Texas A&M University in College Station and at the Budget and Control Board’s Executive Institute in Columbia, S.C.

Housing

Embry-Riddle’s on-campus housing is an integral part of the university experience. It gives students the opportunity to develop lifelong friendships and to appreciate the unique values that everyone brings to this diverse institution. Students can choose from eight housing styles ranging from suites to efficiency apartments to traditional residence hall designs. All campus student rooms have telephone service, Internet access and satellite TV connection. Lounges, study and meeting rooms, game rooms and other common areas are available to all. The housing facilities are enhanced by four campus dining locations, a fitness center and recreational facilities.

Extracurricular Activities

The Student Activities Office coordinates numerous special events, such as comedy shows, concerts, plays and weekly movies, as well as on-campus clubs and organizations. Students can choose to get involved in more than 150 professional organizations, sports clubs, fraternities, sororities and special-interest clubs. The university also gives students opportunities to work part time while pursuing a degree. The Student Employment Office helps place students in jobs on or off campus.

Job opportunities are available regardless of financial need and allow students to gain selfconfidence, important time-management skills and valuable employment references.

After Graduation

Internships and co-operative education opportunities, available through the university’s Career Services Office, enable students to gain valuable experience in their chosen field. In many cases, students have been offered full-time jobs as a result of an internship or co-op experience. The Career Services Office also has a placement program for graduates of the university. Counselors are available to help refine resumes, hone interviewing skills and help explore job opportunities within a vast network of companies. The Industry/Career Expo held each November has become the aviation industry’s hiring event of the year. The expo attracts hundreds of recruiters from top companies looking to hire the university’s graduates. Professionals with an Embry-Riddle degree enjoy a variety of career options. Graduates have gone on to train as astronauts, fly planes, manage airports, design mechanical systems and serve as bank administrators. DAYTONA BEACH - HOME OF THE EAGLES Daytona Beach is an ever-changing city of more than 61,000 residents. Located on the “Fun Coast” of Florida, the principal city of Volusia County, it has become one of the premier destination spots in the Southeast Region. Despite its continuous growth, it has maintained the spirit and serenity of a small, close-knit beach community. Ridder believes in giving his coaches and staff top-level facilities to achieve success and he has certainly worked hard to make Embry-Riddle’s facilities among the best in the nation, primarily through his successful campaigning. Under his watchful eye, Eagle Athletics has gone from playing and practicing at various venues in the local community to finding a home on campus with state-of-the-art facilities, which include the ICI Center for volleyball and basketball, the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium, the Ambassador E. William Crotty Tennis Complex, the Sliwa Stadium for baseball, and the EmbryRiddle Track & Field Complex. Ridder’s guidance and leadership has attracted tremendous respect within the NAIA and this admiration has allowed Embry-Riddle to host eight national championships including men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s soccer. Ridder is in his 25th year as head basketball coach for Embry-Riddle and has led the Eagles to the NAIA National Tournament 12 times, with eight Sun Conference regularseason championships, and nine conference tournament titles. In 2000, Ridder’s squad captured the school’s first national championship. His squads are regularly ranked among the top 20 nationally, holding the number one ranking during the entire 2000-01 season, and have produced 28 All-Americans and nine All-America Scholar Athletes. Ridder earned his master’s degree in Physical Education/ Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Berea College. JOHN PHILLIPS, Associate Director of Athletics Born and raised in Kensington, Maryland, John Phillips came to Daytona Beach in 1989, enrolling as a student at Embry-Riddle. Phillips played baseball for the Eagles for three seasons, while completing both his undergraduate (B.S., 1990) and graduate degrees (M.S., 1992). In 1997, Phillips returned to Embry-Riddle as the University’s firstever Director of Sports Marketing and Promotions. In his current role as Associate Director of Athletics, Phillips supervises the day-to-day functions of the athletic department, including facilities, game management, sports information, sports medicine and sports marketing for the Daytona Beach campus. During his tenure at Embry-Riddle, Phillips has served as the tournament director for nine NAIA national championships that Embry-Riddle has hosted, including five for golf and four national soccer tournaments. In 2008, the NAIA honored him with the Charles Morris Award as the NAIA’s National Athletic Administrator of the Year. Under his direction, the Embry-Riddle Sports Marketing and Promotions staff has earned 19 NACMA “Best of” awards, including seven gold medals for things such as “best student promotion” and “best targeted group promotion.” In 2010, Phillips was named to the Board of the Directors of NACMA, becoming just the second member of an NAIA institution to serve in this capacity. In addition, Phillips serves as Chair of the NAIA-NACMA Advisory Board and has been a featured speaker on topics related to sports marketing at the NAIA convention on seven different occasions. At the 2009 NACMA Convention in Orlando, Phillips was invited to present on “Big Time

Promotions on a Small-Time Budget” and two separate presentations on Social Networking, “Are you Connected” and “Avoiding the Pitfalls.” The sports information staff at Embry-Riddle has also garnered national attention during his tenure, capturing over 40 CoSIDA awards for Excellence in Publications and his staff has been honored on five occasions with the NAIA’s Gary Spitler Award for the best overall sports publications in the NAIA. In addition to his duties at Embry-Riddle, Phillips has become one of Central Florida’s most accomplished sports broadcasters. He has served as the voice of Embry-Riddle basketball for the last 15 seasons and has served in a similar capacity for the Eagles baseball team since 1999. In addition to his work for ERAU, he has worked as the public address announcer for both the Daytona Cubs and DeLand High School football. In his current position with WNDB-1150 AM, he anchors their motorsports coverage for events such as the Rolex 24, the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400. In addition, he serves as the play-by-play announcer for WNDB’s coverage of local high school football and anchors their weekly Coaches Corner pre-game show. Phillips has also worked for radio stations WSBB (New Smyrna Beach), WNDA (DeLand) and WELE (Ormond Beach). He has also done broadcast work for Bethune-Cookman University, Georgia Southern University, Lewis-Clark State College, MidAmerica Nazarene University, The Sun Conference and also the Florida State League Daytona Cubs. Phillips and his wife Ann, who serves as an assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida, are parents of Lauren, Zachary and Rachel.

JOHN mark adkison, assistant director of athletics John Mark Adkison, who is entering his 10th year at Embry-Riddle, is the Eagles’ Assistant Director of Athletics. His responsibilities include managing the Department’s fundraising efforts, managing the merchandising and licensing program and overseeing the Academic Enhancement and Hall of Fame programs. In addition, Adkison serves as a liaison for the Student Athlete Leadership Team and the Champions of Character program. Prior to Embry-Riddle, Adkison spent time as the LPGA Senior Marketing Coordinator, as well as the Championship Events Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, and a Sports Information Intern all for the NAIA. Adkison is also active in the local community. He was a volunteer at St.

James Episcopal School in Ormond Beach as the middle school basketball coach and currently serves on the FUTURES Foundation Board and is the Chair of the Missions Committee at Christ Community Church. He has also served as the basketball coach at the Dudley Founation Basketball Camp in Vernonia, Oregon, a camp specialized for children with type one diabetes. Adkison earned his master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2001 and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Taylor University in 1993. He and wife Candace reside in Daytona Beach with their daughter, Georgia Grace.

The Embry-Riddle Athletics program boasts two team (men’s basketball and men’s tennis) and 21 individual national titles. Additionally, the Blue and Gold has posted runner-up finishes in men’s (2011) and women’s (2012) tennis, women’s golf (2008, 2011) and baseball (2005).

Embry-Riddle has consistently been recognized as having one of the top intercollegiate athletic programs in the NAIA. In 2012-13, the Eagles finished fourth in the NACDA/Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, marking the 14th straight season that ERAU Athletics has been ranked among the Top 25 in the standings.

Embry-Riddle has won 88 Sun Conference regular season titles in its 25 years of existence. In addition, the Blue and Gold has also captured 24 conference tournament titles and took home 31 regional crowns before regional tournament competition ended in 2008.

In 2012-13, ERAU had 28 student-athletes receive All-America recognition, bringing the number of All-Americans in ERAU’s 25-year history to 300.

The Sun Conference Commissioner’s Cup is awarded annually to the best overall athletic program in the league. ERAU Athletics has won an unprecedented 14 consecutive Commissioner’s Cup titles dating back to 2000.

ERAU student-athletes have had a higher GPA than the overall of the student body for the last 14 seasons. In 2012-13, the Blue and Gold posted a 3.02 GPA. The Eagles have had 263 NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes alltime, including 23 in 2012-13.

The Braddock Education Success Team (BEST) Program was incorporated into the Embry-Riddle Athletic Program during the 1999-00 academic year. The BEST Program is a branch of the Braddock Foundation, which was established by Robert & Lois Braddock. It is currently sponsored by their daughter and Spruce Creek Fly-in resident, Cherie Keemar, and was initiated by her late husband, Michael. The BEST program offers tutoring and mentoring programs to assist student-athletes in managing their time between academics, athletics and social development. One of the fundamental components of the BEST Program is Study Hall, which is for student-athletes who are required to attend according to stipulations set by each respective team’s coaching staff. Study Hall is a place where tutors and mentors are available for student-athletes throughout the academic year. With its clearly defined criteria and rules of conduct, Study Hall strives to provide a structured environment

that will benefit student-athletes by improving study habits, honing focus and providing one-on-one learning opportunities. It is not intended to be a substitute for regular class attendance and routine study, but is designed as an essential tool to help student-athletes achieve their academic objectives. Dave Therneau serves as the Academic Enhancement Coordinator of the BEST Program. He and other BEST Program staff members oversee the daily operations of the Academic Advancement Center where all students, including athletes, can go and receive tutoring in many of the courses and subjects that are part of the curriculum at Embry-Riddle. Embry-Riddle is in the process of constructing a new College of Arts & Sciences building. In it will house a 9,000 square foot facility dedicated to the University’s Academic Achievement Center, which includes the BEST Program.

SPORTS MEDICINE

The Embry-Riddle Sports Medicine Department provides ERAU student-athletes with the best medical care possible following an injury, to return the athlete back to school and competition as soon as possible in the safest manner. The areas of emphasis for the Sports Medicine Department are injury prevention, injury evaluation, treatment, and injury/health education. We dedicate ourselves to providing a safe environment for our athletes to compete in. Treatments, injury care, taping, practice, and game preparations are performed in the 1,000 square-foot athletic training room. Adjacent to this room is the 400 squarefoot athletic training rehabilitation room. These rooms have a variety of equipment to provide the best care and rehabilitation possible for ERAU student-athletes.

The Jamie Fletcher Weight Room is located inside ERAUâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s ICI Center. This 2,800 square-foot facility is home to some of the top equipment available. ERAU student-athletes participate in team strength programs year round, which allow them to stay strong and healthy throughout the year and peak at the correct times. ERAU Athletes also participate in speed and agility sessions. These sessions help develop better explosiveness, balance, and speed. Embry-Riddle University strength and conditioning is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our student-athletes. These areas help develop a strong, healthy, and mentally tough student-athlete that will succeed in their endeavors.

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics In the NAIA, a dedication to leadership development is balanced with sports accomplishment. A trailblazer in providing equal opportunity for all student-athletes. An expectation of ethical behavior, fairness in competition, access to athletic scholarship, sportsmanship and leadership development. At the core of all of this — character. The seed of the NAIA began in 1937 with the tip-off of a men’s basketball tournament that has become the longest running basketball tournament in the country, celebrating 75 years in 2012. Out of the tournament grew the NAIA, an association of close to 300 member schools and more than 60,000 student-athletes. Since 1937, the NAIA has administered programs and championships in proper balance with the overall educational experience. In 2000, the NAIA reaffirmed its purpose to enhance the character-building aspects of sport. Through Champions of Character, the NAIA seeks to create an environment in which every student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. Most recently, the association opened the doors to the NAIA Eligibility Center, where prospective student-athletes are evaluated for academic and athletic eligibility. It delivers on a larger promise of integrity by leveling the playing field, guiding student-athlete success, and ensuring fair competition. Providing student-athletes a chance to connect with NAIA schools and coaches helps them make the best decision to prepare them for success in both college and athletics.

In so doing, the organization looks to develop exemplary character and sportsmanship in NAIA competition. Through Champions of Character, the NAIA seeks to create an environment in which every student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through five tenets: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship. This program educates and create awareness of the positive character-building traits afforded by sports and returns integrity to competition at the collegiate and youth levels while impacting all of society. The Embry-Riddle Athletic Department has enthusiastically embraced the implementation of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative. For years the department has sought to instill in student-athletes the very values addressed by the movement. Additionally, the Student-Athlete Leadership Team assists in evaluation and feedback on the overall student-athlete experience. In 2012-13, Embry-Riddle student-athletes, coaches and staff contributed logged 2,285 hours in community service hours.

Members of Embry-Riddle’s Student-Athlete Leadership Team volunteered at the Children’s Home Society, helping to organize their Christmas toy donations.

At the beginning of the year, teams whose studentathletes have arrived on campus early for preseason workouts, take a few hours off practice to help new Embry-Riddle students move in to on-campus housing.

Embry-Riddle’s athletic programs are involved in local elmentary school reading programs.

For the last three years, Embry-Riddle has partnered with the Food Brings Hope Initiative, bringing elementary and middle school children on to campus for special programing, including facility tours, basketball games and pizza.

In 2012, Embry-Riddle women’s soccer hosted the second annual Habitat for Humanity Invitational. The teams in the two-day tournament take a one-day break from competition to volunteer at a local Habitat for Humanity project.

In January 2013, ERAU Athletics partnered with Phi Gamma Delta for a fundraising run from Daytona Beach to West Palm Beach. Proceeds went to to a fund for former ERAU women’s soccer play Kate Schwikert who is currently battling cancer.
