Jean Michel N'Draman is a young man from Côte d'Ivoire. We started our project from his story of loneliness and disorientation since now he is living in Lombardy, far away from his family and his hometown. We have highlighted seven key concepts, and from them we have developed our main settings and values of Aerilon's storyworld.

Pini 3 street is in Piave Emanuele, in which I live since I am in Lombardy. When I have free time or I’m bored, I take a walk in this street to observe the trees with their beautiful flowers. It reminds me of my childhood, when I used to go to the field with my uncle. Sometimes I sit next to the fountain to read or to look at people or cars passing by. So, I forget for a moment the problems of loneliness and disorientation. This is a street of concentration for me.

The trees with their beautiful flowers watched by Jean Michel turned into our hero's home and interest, and the fact that they reminded him about his childhood is a crucial theme in our story. The fountain where he usually goes to relax and to concentrate is another reference, since it's a place that that will occur again and again throughout the story. Another important theme is that of the memory loss, and of the loneliness and disorientation since our storyworld is initially dark and lonely. 7

by sharing memories and participating in a linked community you can possibly achieve every goal

The project's aim is to highlight that people can possibly achieve every goal by sharing memories and participating in a linked community. We want to stress the fact that verbal communication is a key to a better community and that appearance is not important, since our feelings are more important it's more important what we have inside, in order to deeply understand each otherâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s points of view. It's crucial to be linked together in a multicultural society, now more than ever. 9

Since we had those kind of values in mind and we wanted to talk about those topics, we thought that the best genre to do that was a mystery and a dark fantasy genre. People will be more engaged with a fantasy story, with complex characters' interaction and with magic involved. Therefore, since we want to make people understand that being linked together in a multiculturalism community is a key to a better society, the people who can better grasp this message are young adults people, approximately from 18 to 30 years old. Of course, it doesn't mean that the project cannot be understood also by younger or older people.

We developed our project concept from these considerations, designing instagram profiles connected to one another in order to create a maze-like game. As it happens in a treasure hunt, people will need to search for clues to get on with the story, and a facebook page. We chose to base our game on Instagram, one of the most used social network platforms, because it represents the importance of a linked community, it's silent and based on visual communication, just like the storyworld that we conceptualized. The story is spread through the channel and the user have the possibility to choose between different storylines to follow. In this way we will be able to spread our aim message successfully throughout young communities. 11

2.1 values

fantasy storyworld â&#x20AC;&#x201D; aerilon how is this world like?

In Aerilon, because of a mysterious monster that steals people's spoken memories, people can't communicate to each other easily, and are affected by memory loss as soon as they talk aloud.. The only way they have to communicate is by whispers and gestures. Moreover, the kingdom is ruled by a powerful evil queen, who controls everything, even paper, in order to discourage people from communicating to one another.

i'm fierce and ruthless and i'm not afraid to show it.

Every day at sunset, Lilith stands out in the foggy atmosphere, watching her kingdom from the top of her majestic castle. She loves standing there, alone, in the darkness of the night. She actually doesn’t care about anyone or anything, she absolutely doesn’t trust anyone, since she only wants to reign over people. She thinks that she's surely the best in everything, that she's the only one who has the guts to think what needs to be thought, to be fearless, ambitious, proud, and selfconfident. The only person that she has ever loved was brutally murdered, and his brother is a constant reminder of her loss. Therefore, she understood that love is useless and is just a weakness; people can only be helpful if they are tools to reach her purposes, in order to dominate over Aerilon forever.

The bond between her brother, Alaric, and her had always been strong during their childhood. They used to play together, do the duties for their kingdom together, in harmony with their father, King Aaron. When she was 23 years old, she met an handsome young prince from a foreign land, Andrew, and they instantly fell in love. Of course, since King Aaron disapproved any kind of relationships with both non-royal people and people he didn't approve, their relationship was a secret affair. Until one day, when Andrew came to the Castle, and faced a duel with Alaric for the throne. Lilith was present, but in the duel Alaric prevailed. Andrew was defeated and murdered by him. Alaric of course didn't know it, but Lilith was devasted. Since then, she started to plan her revenge. 22

Andrew had a brother, Ales. Since the two of them were orphans, Ales was a little 4 years old boy, all alone. She took him in and raised him. But when King Aaron died, not many years after, she finally took her revenge. With the help of the Wizard, her magic teacher, she turned into a Monster her brother. A Monster that couldn't see nor speak, but that could steal memories from people, so that no one would never remembered what happened. Soon, people started to understand that, if they would speak, they lose their memories. The kingdom became dark and silent, and the Queen ruled over it for 19 years; Ales was her puppet, doing dirty jobs for her. Until one day, the Wizard showed up again to Lilith, delivering to her a shocking news... 23

Alaric was the beautiful young prince of Aerilon. His life was a good one, and he loved his birthland the most. Aerilon was everything to him. He was looking formward to become king and finally rule over the kingdom, because he wanted to bring joy and prosperity to his homeland. The thing most painful to him was the bad relationship he had with his sister, Lilith, that somehow became weird and cold. Alaric couldn't tell why.

Alaric grew up with his sister Lilith and his father, King Aaron. Since he was the older brother, he knew that one day he would have become the king and he was ready. He started to participate in most of the events of the kingdom, since his father got sick. He once went to the opening of Aerilon's new library. There, he met the beautiful Tesidra, the owner of the library. It was love at first sight, and they started a relationship. Of course, since King Aaron didn't approve any kind of relationship with non-noble people, it was a secret. But his duties continued. He also had to face and confront with a strange foreign prince, to fight for his kingdom. Of course, he defeated him. But since that moment, his sister became pretty strange. Their relationship started to be colder and colder, until they didn't speak to each other anymore. 28

One day, Lilith and the Wizard captured him and took him to the Castle's vault. It was very quick: a little spell, some light and magic, and he suddenly couldn't see nor speak anymore. Of course, Tesidra wasn't aware of his capture, and he could never speak to her again. But, after many years, someone came to visit him...

lilith is like a mother to me, but i'm sick and tired of playing along with her game.

Ales is an handsome young boy, although very lonely and quiet. He was raised by Queen Lilith and forced from her to do things he didn't want to. Everytime she needed help to punish someone or to make someone understand her rules, Ales was there, even though he didn't like it. Therefore, because of his inner suffering, he started to go to the Monster's vault on daily basis, in order to talk to him, forgetting his memories of the day. This is the only thing that keeps him going on with his life.

Ales grew up in a foreign land near Aerilon with his brother Andrew. But unfortunately, a day he was murdered by Alaric, the prince of Aerilon while the two were dueling with each other. He was very young, but he could remember it. Lilith, Alaric's sister, adopted him because she had a relationship with his brother. From that day, he grew up side by side with the Queen, learning the things that she did, only with hate and wicked behaviour. He couldn't stand it anymore, but he owed the Queen his entire life. He was alive because of her, so he never wanted to rebel against her. But his memories were way too painful, that's why everyday, when he has the chance, he goes into the Monster's vault. Taking advantages of its powers, he could forget all the bad 32

serving the royal family and its ancestors for long time is the pride of my existence.

Nobody knows the age of the wizard Poke. He has lived in these lands for a long time. His little dark house is all his world and he lives in Aquarin, the capital of Aerilon. Poke always has his long magic wand with him and uses the magic sphere to see where his eyes do not see. His white skin does not seem to belong to the race of the normal inhabitants of the kingdom. He loves studying all kinds of magic and inventing spells that solve the problems in every difficult situation. Poke has been the wizard of the royal family for many years, he knows all the ancestors of the Stormswiftâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s family. His fate is to protect and serve the royal family for a lifetime. It can not refuse to satisfy their desire, nor can afford to contradict those who rule.

Over time, Poke has become an increasingly powerful wizard. He saw every member of the Stormswift's royal family's births, helping the Royals through the ages. He also saw Lilith and Alaricâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s births and watched them grew up with his crystal ball. When they grew up, Lilith asked him to teach her the true power of dark magic, so he had to teach her black magic tricks whenever she asked. But he has always been worried about this dark knowledge that he passed to the woman, as over time it became more and more dangerous. But there was a day that Poke could never forget: the one in which the evil queen asked him to help her in avenging her lost love. He was torn between the willing of the future Queen and the incolumity of the future King. But since Lilith was becoming more and more powerful, he decided to help her in 38

my daughter is my everything. i teach her the values of life through painting.

Tesidra is the young and beautiful strong woman of the village. Beloved by everyone because of her kindness and disposability. She loves reading and everything manual, like cooking or sewing, but the thing she loves the most is drawing. She uses her passions and skills to teach her daugther Hilay through drawing. She sketches her the values of life and the good and the bad behaviours. When Hilay was younger, she used to paint her a story every night to tuck her in. Her greatest fear has always been to forget Hilay, therefore every month she makes a portrait of her but Hilay doesn’t know it because she makes it when she sleeps.

During the opening he met Alaric, the prince

Tesidra loved her family and land but she had to move to Aerilon, unwillingly, to seek for a better life. She wanted to become an independent and strong woman. So when she was 16 years old she moved to Aerilon. It was very difficult for her at the beginning because she didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know anyone. But after many sacrifices, she managed to open her own library. The day of the official opening, Alaric was there to greet her. And they instantly fell in love with each other. Since he was the prince, their relationship was a secret affair, since Tesidra wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t royal. But not after that much time Alaric flew away without even saying a word and Tesidra was devasted. She found out she was pregnant and her life changed completely. 44

I ’m ambitious, cheerful and friendly. I ’ve been taught love, respect and how to live without envy by my mother. I love reading and everything I can do with my hands like cooking or sewing, but what I cherish the most is painting and drawing. Before I got pregnant my only thoughts were myself, having fun and improving my social status then everything changed: my daughter is my everything. I use my passions and skills to teach her through drawing. I sketch her the values of life, the good and the bad behaviors and every night I paint her a story while I tuck her in. Forgetting Hilay is my greatest fear so every month I make a portrait of her, she doesn’ t know, because I make it when she sleeps. I made this somewhat utopian portrait of me because I ’m dying. I want my daughter and my loved ones to remember me young and happy instead of dying. When I will die I will reveal my biggest secret to Hilay: who her father is.

Todh is Tesidra's twin brother. He was born in a foreign land and then came to Aerilon. He always wanted to become talented through hard studies. It had always been the goal of his life. He always wanted to know more, to learn more about the world, so he started to study and reading by himself. He is a very good and honest person, also very wise and reliable. He's always willing to help the other if they need it. He has also a very strong memory, so he basically know what's written in any of Aerilon's library books. It's also because he spends the most of his time in the library, reading and finding new books to stay updated and focused, waiting for the village's people to come to him to ask for an advice.

But his wife died during labour

He had lived with his twin sister Tesidra in a foreign land for many years, until she decided to move out and live by herself. He met a girl, who soon became his wife and they had a baby together, little Rook. His life changed completely though, because Rook was born, but his wife died during labour. Todh and Rook's lives were not that happy and easy since the beginning. But after a while, Tesidra contacted his brother to tell him to join her to Aerilon. Todh was very happy to reunite himself with the sister, so he accepted. Also Rook was happy to change homeland, to get away from the pain and the loneliness they felt. But in Aerilon, Todh found out that the sister was seriously ill, so he was deeply sad, but he had the chance to raise his niece, 50

But one day his father decided to move to the kingdom of Aerilon and, after a long and arduous journey, Rook finally met his little cousin Hilay and his aunt, Tesidra. Hilay gently helped him fight his shyness and they grew up together, facing many adventures. Also studying together at the library, thanks to the teaching of his father, Todh. Simple writing and painting perfectly met my daily communication with my cousin and father. I have a younger cousin, Hilay. It was also when I came to the village to know this beautiful and delicate existence. My father often told me to protect her, so I took it as my duty. We studied together in my father’s library. Hilay Royce is a 19 years old girl that lives with her mother Tesidra in a small house near the fountain of one of the many villages of Aerilon Kingdom. She is passionate about flowers, and every morning she goes outside looking for new types to discover. It’s also very helpful for other people, since some of these flowers are essential in order to cure some rare diseases that affect people. She likes to collect the petals in frames, and hang them near her mother’s paintings. Through these drawings, her mother teaches her all the things that she knows, since silence reign over Aerilon because of a monster that steals all the people’s memories as they speak too loud. At least the silence helps her to concentrate while studying.

Our instagram based game is a maze like game, since we have 36 profiles that tell the whole story. In each profile, people have to read carefully the captions, that will tell the story, and look for the tag to go on into the next profile in order to continue with the story. With some clues to find, the game is more engaging. The story is narrated through the illustrations, some videos and through the captions.

For the Facebook page we followed an editorial plan in order to engage people and to keep their attention and curiosity while waiting the launch of the Instagram game. We started to post the storyworld rules, which explains the general rules of the kingdom. We created a dedicated album to each character and we explained their background stories. The Aerilon Kingdom Facebook page is the rabbit hole of the Aerilon Kingdom Instagram game, since we put a call to action button that links the two platforms.

For Instagram we have designed 36 different profiles that together narrate the story throughout the channel. On every profileâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s bio there is the link to the Facebook page; every post has a unique caption and hashtags to identify the image itself, using both general hashtags and a specific hashtag for the project. The user is called to look for the tag that links him to the next profile, in order to continue the journey. Moreover, some things in some profiles are important for further steps in the story, so captions will suggest the user to save the content in a personal collection. At the end of the game we invite the players to share their best memories using our specific hashtag #sharememoriesforaerilon.

Hilay, Ales, Rook, and the magician attempt to enter the castle, but they fall into a trap. Some poisoned arrows nearly hit Hilay, but Rook protects her and is hit instead. He dies in front of the castle. Despite this tragic loss, Hilay is more than ever determinate to enter the castle to take her revenge against the Queen and to find his father. In the meantime, Ales and Poke stay outside next to Rookâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s body. Hilay will continue this dangerous adventure by herself.

Finally, the time has come. The big battle is starting. Entering the vault, Hilay discovers that her object is interacting more and more with the Monster. Therefore, she realizes that the Monster is the long lost prince of Aerilon, Alaric, Queen Lilith's brother and, of course, her father. She's shocked but willing to help him and save him. At the same time, Lilith sees the scene, understanding that the "blood" to which the runic phrase was referring about was about her niece, not her brother. The necklace that Hilay has is the magical object and since it seems that he's the daughter of the prince, she is now threatening Queen Lilith's dominance by being the next heir in line for the kingdom. Who will win? Dark or light? You can choose what you like the most.

Light can now shine again over Aerilon. The evil Queen has been defeated and Hilay can now rule the Kingdom with her father by her side. She then creates a linked community based on the memories that the monster collected over the year, giving them back to their people. The monster - Alaric - is not under anyoneâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s control now, but heâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s unable to return human. Hilay, in any case, sees him as his beloved father. They can live happily now.
