Please join me in welcoming our new General Manager, Chris Major to Black Diamond Ranch! Chris has worked as a leader with Marriot Golf for over two decades and has been recognized as their only twotime “Global Leader of the Year ”

He brings to Black Diamond Ranch extensive operational expertise combined with a proven track record in upscale club lifestyle

We are excited to welcome Chris to the Black Diamond Team, and once you meet him you will realize that our club is on a wonderful new trajectory!

Please join us as we embark on this new and exciting chapter at Black Diamond’s Ranch, with our primary goal to make the Club, the Courses, and the Member Experience “Second To None ”

DIRECTOR OF GOLF MONTHLY UPDATE

Although things have slowed down here at Black Diamond Ranch, there is a buzz in the air with all the projects underway!

As of this writing, the Ranch Course Irrigation Project is in full swing, with the Bunker and Tee Renovation portions to begin soon. I am happy to report that our Golf Maintenance Team has begun to restore the Members’ Practice Area, which will include muchimproved turf quality on the three Practice Greens in addition to the Practice Tee. It is with great pleasure that I share this news with you as we continue to look forward at Black Diamond Ranch, not backward! What an exciting time to be a Member and be witness to all the improvements being made! For those of you up North for the summer, we will periodically be sending drone videos of all these projects to share with you. With all that is going here at Black Diamond, all I can say is “Win-Win.”

John & Jenne DeLateur

John is originally from Seattle Washington, where he entered his service into the Marine Corps In John’s 31 years of service to this nation, he served multiple tours overseas and relocated over 9 times throughout his career. He was raised in a military family whose father also served over 30 years. After many moves, and raising three wonderful daughters, he has chosen to retire to Florida and chose Black Diamond because of its welcoming community and the world class golf courses that it has to offer He is an avid golfer and wants to get back to fishing during his retirement years John and Jenne are looking forward to meeting fellow members and hitting the links as he transitions full-time to the Black Diamond community He is also interested in connecting with fellow veteran groups around the area for meaningful camaraderie.

We are super excited for Chef Javier’s new menu His signature dish is shrimp and grits: Southern style jumbo shrimp in a tomato Lardon sauce with bell peppers, celery, onions over stone ground creamy grits If you haven’t come in to check it out, now is the time! We have some exciting things in the works for this upcoming year We are looking forward to starting back up wine dinners, comedy shows, and a whole lot more We look forward to seeing you at the club!

AGRONOMY UPDATE

Dear Black Diamond Ranch Members: I am happy to report the Ranch Course Irrigation Project is underway and on schedule!

The attached pictures are of the 12” main line that is ready to be installed underground and will be the heartbeat of the project

I know you all are as excited as we are to get this project completed and have the Ranch Course back ready to play in early November

Many members have expressed to me that they prefer the Ranch Course over the Quarry because it’s visuals make you feel as though you are playing golf in the Sandhills of North Carolina.

Black Diamond Ranch is one of the most unique and iconic golf properties in the world, and I am proud to be a small part of its return to glory!

I would like to introduce you to Ben Noland, who just started as one of our two Golf Course Superintendents Since his arrival one month ago, Ben has made a huge impact with regards to staff accountability, organization, and leadership Please read Ben’s bio below, and the next time you ’ re on the course Ben would love to meet you!

Ben is an Ohio native and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He served 20 years in the United States Marine Corp with multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After retirement he grew a passion for the game of golf. Ben attained his turf degree from the University of Georgia while working and playing golf at several courses in the Hilton HeadCharleston South Carolina area.

Ben worked 3 years for the PGA Tour at TPC Sawgrass, and also became a certified Arborist Aside for his passion for golf he loves to travel, skydive and any great local fishing hole
