Living in Taiwan for nearly 2 years, I find that this island is really a wonderful environment for international students to pursue their dreams. Let me introduce the academic environment and living condition here. Firstly, most Taiwanese Universities are large and well-equipped with the latest machines. The teaching staff have a high level of education, and many people have studied or worked abroad for a long time. For example, most of my Professors in CGU get their Master or Doctor Degree in US, UK, Canada or Europe. They had also worked in the famous enterprises all over the world, and that makes their lessons reach closer to reality. The student can choose their favourite lecturer and course by using an online system, which is clear and has an English version, too. From my point of view, the schedule is not really stressful, so most of students can have rest time to enjoy their life besides studying. Especially, in some universities such as Ming Chi University or Chang Gung University, you can have a chance to know about one of the largest international companies in the world: Formosa Plastic Group. There is a museum here, so you can enter with your friends and learn much about the history of the company. Despite the fact that the founder of Formosa, Mr. Wang Yung Ching, was born in a very poor family in Taipei, he and his younger brother can become great business men who make the name “Formosa” become a legend. In this museum, you don’t need to pay any fee to watch, even though it is really big with 6 beautiful floors. Throughout the floors from B1 to 6, the visitors can see the icon of Formosa, the family where Mr.Wang Yung Ching grew up, the products which are made from plastics, fibre, or cotton and even cosmetics from Dr. Formula. You also can see the figures of Formosa plants in Ha Tinh, Viet Nam and Texas, America. I actually appreciate the way that Formosa build their system and join in various fields because it is very difficult for everybody to manage everything well at the same time. In museum, you can also find the famous book “Wisdom of Wang Yung Ching”, which will answer most of the questions of business management from Founder Ching’s view.

Secondly, not only the studying environment but also the living condition in Taiwan is very good for foreigners. There is a good relationship between Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Indian and many other international students. In my campus, they also organize events so that the students can show their talents when they take part in: dancing, singing, drawing... and cooking traditional food. However, I think you need time to be aware that not all of the universities in Taiwan have this kind of activity. Actually, it is based on the number of international students there and the way the Chairman support the community. On another point, I would like to say that the international students must be very happy because of Taiwan’s living cost. It is really low so that you can buy food and many things even cheaper than in your country. Morever, Taiwan has a strong system of convinience stores like 7-Eleven, Family Mart, and Hi Life, with discounts for students. Transportation is easy to reach, and there is free bus from school to the city in Chang Gung. For students who want to travel or go to another place, they can choose to goby bus, MRT, or train, depending on their time and ďŹ nances. I strongly recommend you to go to Taiwan both for studying and travelling. It is totally one of the most impactful countries in Asia nowadays.
