Two years – A level

Consider how much time you spend consuming media on a daily basis. Now consider why you spend so much time consuming it. What is it that the media does to keep you glued to your tablet, phone and TV screens, and how are the producers of these media products shaping your beliefs on everything from race and gender to right and wrong? The media is a dynamic, vibrant and essential industry that offers a whole range of exciting career opportunities to those who study it.

What will I study?

Whilst studying this course you will examine the power of the media, its regulation, genres, and audience, while also developing practical skills through the creation of your own media products for television, magazine and other journalistic industries.

You will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard camera and editing equipment, and you will be encouraged to make as much use of our state-of-the-art green screen television studio as possible!

What’s next?

Media Studies could lead to a range of opportunities in both university and employment. It is an essential course for anyone wanting to work in journalism, media production, advertising or marketing. Some of our most recent students have gone on to work in the journalism, advertising, and in the television and film industries.
