Public Services
Do you have the discipline and determination it takes to work in the uniformed public service industries? Find out by signing up to one of our courses.
Focusing on key services including fire and rescue, the police, ambulance, prison services, customs and excise and the armed forces you’ll be given a realistic introduction to what working life is really like in the uniformed services and get the skills to prepare you for this type of work.
Our courses are developed with public service professionals and will give you the opportunity to explore potential careers and undertake work experience and engage with potential future employers. You can also complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award alongside your studies.

What will I study?
Lessons include a mix of classroom-based study and outdoor activities, expeditions and group work. You’ll learn about the demands of working in the different public service industries, improving health and fitness, outdoor activities as well as communication skills, teamwork and time management.
What’s next?
On successful completion of the level 2 course you can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Public Services. Other options include joining the British Army.
Upon completion of the level 3 course, there’s a wealth of opportunities available to you including the opportunity to further study the subject in higher education. Options include degrees in professional policing, paramedic science and criminology. Other progression options include the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship or join the one the armed forces such as the British Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force.

These courses are the perfect preparation for a wide range of careers in the armed services, the blue light services and other uniformed public services.
You will be challenged through exciting experiences within the classroom and through a variety of outdoor simulation activities. You will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular personal development activities, such as expeditions and contact with public service development activities.
Some of our previous students have gone on to join the British Army, Royal Signals, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Fire Service. Other students have gone on to work in exciting things like the outdoor adventure industry, and on to university to study topics like policing and paramedic science.
